Reader’s Links for March 7, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. CBC – 20 dead, hundreds hurt after explosions rock military barracks in Equatorial Guinea: state TV

President Teodoro Obiang Nguema blames blasts on ‘negligent handling of dynamite’

A series of explosions at a military barracks in Equatorial Guinea killed at least 20 people and wounded hundreds of others, state television reported.

TVGE read out a statement from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema that said the explosions were due to the “negligent handling of dynamite” in the military barracks, located in the neighbourhood of Mondong Nkuantoma, in the port city of Bata.

The president said the impact of the explosions, which occurred at 4 p.m. local time, affected buildings across the city.

TVGE said that at least five explosions caused at least 20 deaths and wounded more than 400 others.

State television showed a huge plume of smoke rising above the explosion site as crowds fled, with many people crying out, “We don’t know what happened, but it is all destroyed.”

The Health Ministry tweeted that its health workers are treating the injured at the site of the tragedy and in medical facilities, but it feared people were still missing under the rubble.

Images on local media seen by The Associated Press show people screaming and crying as they run through the streets amid debris and smoke. Roofs of houses were ripped off and wounded people were being carried into a hospital.

The blasts were a shock for the oil-rich Central African nation. A doctor calling into TVGE, who went by his first name, Florentino, said the situation was a “moment of crisis” and that hospitals were overcrowded. He said a sports centre set up for COVID-19 patients would be used to receive minor cases.

A radio station, Radio Macuto, said on Twitter that people were being evacuated within four kilometres of the city because the fumes might be harmful.

Following the blasts, the Spanish Embassy in Equatorial Guinea recommended on Twitter that “Spanish nationals stay in their homes.”

  2. A Storm Over the American Republic

The atmosphere in the United States remains poisonous. Critics claim that stoking in the public is being done on purpose — to create a false narrative that not only is Trump supposedly a “threat to democracy,” but that his more than 74 million supporters are, too. January 20, 2021. President Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th president of the United States. The scene, however, is devoid of any human presence. The streets of Washington DC are empty. People had been urged to stay at home and Americans throughout the rest of the country asked not to come. The city is under the protection of 25,000 members of the National Guard, heavily armed. High barriers topped with razor wire surround the Capitol area. In the streets planned for the new president’s “parade”, barriers separate the sidewalks from the roadway. The only people visible are men in uniform carrying rifles. A day that is usually a day of celebration in the United States is, this year, strange and sad.

The explanation given by city officials and the FBI was that there was a risk of serious disruption. Other inaugurations had faced disruption, but had never placed the city under siege. On January 20, 2017, during President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration, hostile protesters had come to Washington DC, burned cars and smashed windows. The police had protected the ceremony without razor wire and soldiers. Hundreds of thousands of people had cheered the new president.

  3. Ashli Babbitt’s Legal Team Releases First Official Press Release

BLM and Democrats in Washington made the claim that if it were Blacks that rioted, the police would have shot them. But of the riots in Washington by BLM exactly no Blacks were shot but one three hour riot that did not include the assault of police officers like you get from antifa or BLM and a young white girl was murdered b a Capitol cop. The Capitol police are still keeping the officer’s name from the public.

Now, for the first time, the family through their lawyer has made a statement and it’s pretty obvious they plan on suing once the name is revealed. They are also requesting that anyone with evidence or the video of the unprovoked attack to notify them to hand it over. What’s worse is that the government has not released any information on the shooting. How many nights in how many cities would the killing of a Black girl would it have caused. No riots for Ashli Babbitt.

    • Good news. A well-deserved lawsuit. But there should also be a criminal complaint, that of Murder. And I doubt it’s a police officer who murdered her.
