‘Show us the evidence’: Scientists call for clarity on claim that new Covid-19 variant strain is 70% more contagious

Boris Johnson was last night urged to publish clear evidence of the Covid data he used to cancel Christmas for millions.

The Prime Minister has warned the new variant of coronavirus may be up to 70 per cent more transmissible than previous strains and could overwhelm the NHS.

But last night one scientist demanded greater transparency over the number that shut down swathes of the UK.

Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University’s Nuffield Department of Primary Care, expressed scepticism over the 70 per cent figure.

3. Sweden blocks travel from Denmark over fears of new virus strain

Sweden on Monday announced it was barring travellers from neighbouring Denmark after a new mutation of the coronavirus, first seen in the UK, was reported in the country.

This is the first time during the pandemic that the Scandinavian country  has closed the border on one of its neighbours. 

“The new mutated virus has also been confirmed in Denmark and some other countries. But Denmark has also had an increased spread lately and elected to close down for example all shopping malls during Christmas and the holidays,” Home Affairs Minister Mikael Damberg told reporters.

“There is an obvious risk that Danes will be tempted to cross over to Sweden to shop for Christmas presents or spend time in Malmo for instance,” Damberg added.

Like many other European countries, Sweden also imposed an immediate suspension of passenger flights from the UK, over the variant of the coronavirus that is reportedly up to 70 percent more contagious.

4. Migrants Attacked Jews Celebrating Hanukkah in Paris No-Go Suburbs

Police arrested four people, two of them illegal immigrants, in the Paris no-go suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis on suspicion of assaulting a Jewish family which was celebrating Hanukkah.

The incident took place in the commune of Aubervilliers, Seine-Saint-Denis, on Thursday at around 8:40 pm when the Jewish family was in their vehicle listening to Hebrew music and “messages of peace”. According to a report by broadcaster France Bleu, a group of people yelling antisemitic slurs approached the family, proceeding to shake the car and throw glass bottles at the vehicle. Two fo the four suspects are said to be illegal adult migrants and the two others were minors, according to investigators.

5. The communist terrorist who helped Eritrea separate from Ethiopia and become a communist state, and hid a cholera epidemic, and somehow is now the head of WHO, assures us that the new strain of the virus is no more deadly and other attributes to which he makes claim. Consider his track record for accuracy on Covid 19 before accepting these claims as factual.

  1. Per Simon Dolan and the revision of Herd Immunity to reflect not that which is naturally occurring but that which is achieved only via vaccines: This is also the stated position of Dr. Deborah Birx that she hawked this past Spring during an interview with Judge Janine Pirro.

    Birx dismissed outright the KNOWN benefits of naturally occurring herd immunity when JJ presented it as an inevitable palliative and instead Birx suggested that only a vaccine effects herd immunity. Birx is a LIAR. And we do well to suspect her motives when she denies the science upon which her profession stakes its claims to authority.

    Birx is a modern day Jezebel whose efforts seem more geared to destruction than to healing, and for that she needs to be shunned.

    She is evidently using the WHO revised definition.

    Everyone here does realize that mumps on a plane is more virulent? If I were unable to take that vaccine, my air travel would depend on fellow passengers being healthy through lack of exposure, preveious infection, or vaccine.

  3. Anaphylactic reactions to both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines: they’re still sorting it out, a little too casual IMO. Mustn’t frighten the subjects!

    Anaphylaxis is extremely rare for vaccines, maybe one in a million. It’s far more common for other drugs – like penicillin. So what’s going on?

    The suspect agent may be polyethylene glycol (PEG), used as a binder for the messenger RNA (mRNA). It’s a very common ingredient in everything from toothpaste to laxatives.
