Reader’s Links for December 13, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Nigerian Authorities Fear 400 Children Kidnapped After School Attack in Katsina, Reports Say (sputniknews, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/africa/202012131081443654-nigerian-authorities-fear-400-children-kidnapped-after-school-attack-in-katsina-reports-say/

“Up to 400 boys could have been kidnapped in the northern Nigerian state of Katsina as their school got attacked by a group of unknown armed men, Nigeria’s Vanguard newspaper reported, citing authorities.

The Kankara Government Science Secondary School, an all-boys boarding school, was attacked on Friday. The school’s guards were reportedly shot at as intruders stormed the premises. Over 800 children attended the school that day, and it was not immediately clear how many were kidnapped and how many saved themselves by fleeing into bushes.

“The children have continued to return and according to report available, the number of the missing children who have returned are now 406 including the earlier ones found,” Katsina Education Commissioner Badamasi Charanchi was quoted as saying.
According to the official, some children spent the night in bushes and began returning after sunrise. Another 200 children were earlier found and returned by the police, the Katsina State Police Command said, as cited in the report.

“The police, Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Air Force are working closely with the school authorities to ascertain the actual number of the missing and/or kidnapped students while search parties are assiduously working with a view to find and/or rescue the missing students,” Katsina police spokesperson Gambo Isah was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The rescued children will be sent back home as Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari has ordered for a temporary closure of all boarding schools in the wake of the attack.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who is a native of the Katsina state, has condemned the attack and called on the security forces to find and prosecute the perpetrators. On Saturday, the Katsina police said the military had found the attackers’ hideout.”

  2. Afghan Security Forces Kill Over 60 Taliban Militants in Kandahar (sputniknews, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/202012131081443318-afghan-security-forces-kill-over-60-taliban-militants-in-kandahar/

“The Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Sunday that 63 Taliban militants, including seven suicide attackers, had been killed and 29 others injured in the southern province of Kandahar over the past 72 hours.

The Taliban were hunted down in their hideouts across the province by a mortar team of NDS 03 Unit, the authority said in a press release.

Kandahar saw heavy clashes between the Afghan national security forces and the Taliban this past week. According to statements by the Afghan Ministry of Defence, over 150 Taliban were killed in clashes with the army since 9 December.

On Saturday, USFOR-A, the contingent of US forces in Afghanistan, confirmed having conducted an air strike against the Taliban after the group attacked an Afghan army checkpoint in Kandahar’s Zhari district on 10 December.

On Sunday, the Afghan Defense Ministry reported 60 casualties among Taliban militants in Kandahar — 51 members of the group were killed and nine were injured in the districts of Dand, Zhari, Arghandab, Maiwand and Shah Wali Kot following attacks on the ANSF positions.

The Afghan army has also diffused 13 improvised explosive devices, as well as discovered and destroyed four hideouts with weapons and ammunition.

The Taliban movement, in turn, has accused the national security forces of bombing houses in Kandahar province and killing 13 civilians including children, in response to which the defense ministry vowed to investigate the incident.”

  3. Leaked files expose mass infiltration of UK firms by Chinese Communist Party including AstraZeneca, Rolls Royce, HSBC and Jaguar Land Rover (dailymail, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9046783/Leaked-files-expose-mass-infiltration-UK-firms-Chinese-Communist-Party.html

“Loyal members of the Chinese Communist Party are working in British consulates, universities and for some of the UK’s leading companies, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

An extraordinary leaked database of 1.95 million registered party members reveals how Beijing’s malign influence now stretches into almost every corner of British life, including defence firms, banks and pharmaceutical giants.

Most alarmingly, some of its members – who swear a solemn oath to ‘guard Party secrets, be loyal to the Party, work hard, fight for communism throughout my life…and never betray the Party’ – are understood to have secured jobs in British consulates.

Among them is a senior official at the British Consulate in Shanghai. Its headquarters is also home to intelligence officers from the UK security services.

The official describes their role as supporting ministers and officials on visits to East China.

While there is no evidence that anyone on the party membership list has spied for China – and many sign up simply to boost their career prospects – experts say it defies credulity that some are not involved in espionage. Responding to the findings, an alliance of 30 MPs last night said they would be tabling an urgent question about the issue in the Commons.

Writing in The Mail on Sunday today, former Tory Party leader Iain Duncan Smith says: ‘This investigation proves that members of the Chinese Communist Party are now spread around the globe, with members working for some of the world’s most important multinational corporations, academic institutions and our own diplomatic services.

‘The Government must now move to expel and remove any members of the Communist Party from our Consuls throughout China. They can either serve the UK or the Chinese Communist Party. They cannot do both.’

The Foreign Office last night insisted that it has ‘robust procedures in place to keep information secure and to vet staff at our overseas posts’. It is understood they are aware that they employ party members.

However, a senior Whitehall intelligence source said the revelations did raise security questions. ‘In that station [the official] will be sat one floor away from the MI6 team and could have identified intelligence officers.’

The database was originally leaked on Telegram, the encrypted instant messaging app, and passed in September by a Chinese dissident to the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), which comprises more than 150 legislators around the world who are concerned by the influence and activities of the Chinese government.

Dating from 2016, it includes the names of party members in Shanghai, the largest city in China and its financial hub.

The list is divided into more than 79,000 branches, many of them affiliated to individual companies or organisations.

In total, the Chinese Communist Party has more than 92 million members, but competition to join is fierce with fewer than one in ten applicants successful.

After authenticating the material, with the help of data security analysts Internet 2.0, IPAC passed the database to four media organisations around the world, including The Mail on Sunday. Detailed analysis of it by this newspaper reveals that:

    A party member who studied at St Andrews University worked at various consulates in Shanghai including that of the UK;
    Chinese academics who swore the oath to assist the party attended British universities where they were involved in potentially sensitive areas of research including aerospace engineering and chemistry;
    There were more than 600 party members across 19 branches working at the British banks HSBC and Standard Chartered in 2016. Both have drawn criticism for their response to Beijing’s crackdown in Hong Kong;
    The pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and AstraZeneca – both involved in the development of coronavirus vaccines – employed a total 123 party loyalists;
Firms with defence industry interests including Airbus, Boeing and Rolls-Royce employed hundreds of party members.
Security sources believe the initial data leak came from a dissident who targeted an outwardly unremarkable office block in Shanghai which housed the records.

Despite the near certainty of being executed for treason if caught, he or she probably accessed it via a server before downloading it on to a laptop and releasing it on Telegram where it was found by IPAC.

As well as the names of members, the database has places, dates of birth, Chinese ethnicity and in some cases addresses and telephone numbers.

The consular official is registered in a communist party branch within a company called the The Shanghai Foreign Agency Service Corporation, a state-owned employment agency.

It employs almost 2,000 people and its website says it ‘provides comprehensive and high-quality services to more than 100 foreign organisations in Shanghai including foreign consulates, foreign news media, and foreign schools’.

Analysis of the data shows at least 249 Communist Party members were registered with the agency in 2016.

Academics on the membership list include some living and working in the UK. They include a research fellow in aerospace engineering at a leading university who also works for a private company.

Aerospace engineering is designated by the British Government as among the seven most militarily sensitive university subjects.

Students from countries that are not in the EU or the ‘Five Eyes’ network of Britain, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are required to have an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.

During the application process, they are asked to declare any state-linked funding, although some security experts fear the vetting process is not stringent enough. The research fellow did not respond to a request for comment last night.

The US security services have been increasingly concerned about the threat of Chinese espionage on campuses.

In the nine months to September, 14 Chinese nationals were charged over alleged spying offences and the Trump administration last week changed its visa rules so members of the Chinese Communist Party and their families can stay or get travel documents for only a month.

Last week, John Ratcliffe, the US Director of National Security, warned that China posed the ‘greatest threat to democracy and freedom’ since the Second World War and was striving to dominate ‘the planet economically, militarily and technologically’.

Australia revoked the visas of two professors from China in September amid suspicions they were involved in espionage. One of the men appears on the leaked membership list.

The database also reveals that party members work for many British and international companies in China, several involved in the defence or pharmaceutical industries.

Rolls-Royce, Boeing, Airbus and the French defence contractor Thales each have dozens of party members or more on their books while the British banking giants HSBC and Standard Chartered both have hundreds. Jaguar Land Rover was another company with staff who were members of the party………….”

  4. Scale of the BBC’s woke comedy bias is laid bare: Seventy-five per cent of slots are handed to brazenly left-wing comedians and just FOUR out of 364 slots are given to conservatives (dailymail, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9047049/Seventy-five-cent-BBC-comedy-gigs-handed-brazenly-left-wing-comedians.html

“The scale of the BBC’s Left-wing comedy bias is laid bare for the first time today in an audit of its entertainment output.

Research seen by The Mail on Sunday shows that out of 364 comedy slots broadcast by the BBC over the past month, just four featured comedians with explicitly Conservative or pro-Brexit views.

By contrast, a total of 268 slots were filled by comedians with publicly pronounced, Left-leaning or ‘woke’ views, such as Nish Kumar, Adam Hills and Shappi Khorsandi.

Kumar, who appears on The Mini Mash Report, makes Right-leaning politicians the butt of jokes, on one occasion yelling ‘F*** you, Boris Johnson!’ to audience cheers.

The findings come as Tory MPs are lobbying Boris Johnson to fight back against the BBC’s ‘politically correct’ agenda.

More than 25 of them, led by senior backbencher and ex-Minister Sir John Hayes, wrote to the Prime Minister last month to urge him to decriminalise the licence fee to ‘defend British traditions and values…to stand against the senseless woke whingers and the soulless militants who despise the best of Britain’.

The audit by the Campaign For Common Sense (CCS) found that out of 364 slots on BBC 1, BBC 2 and Radio 4 over the past month, a total of 268 slots – 74 per cent – were given to 99 comedians with ‘woke’ views.

It has prompted Mark Lehain, director of the CCS, to write to new BBC director- general Tim Davie to call on him to tackle bias in BBC comedy.

Mr Lehain said: ‘The BBC says it wants to improve the diversity of output.

The reality is our comedy shows are awash with ‘woke’ jokes and there is nothing funny about such flagrant bias.

Our research reveals prime-time comedy shows are dominated by comedians who broadly share the same outlook and views on politics, Brexit and Britain and simply don’t reflect the wide range of opinions held by the viewers they seek to entertain.

‘There are loads of talented comics out there holding small-‘c’ conservative, anti-‘woke’ and pro- Brexit views. The issue is they just aren’t getting booked by the BBC.’

Mr Davie has admitted that the BBC’s focus ‘must be to ensure that we deliver outstanding and unique value to all audiences’.

Comedian Leo Kearse claims to have been snubbed by the BBC because he is ‘one of the minorities forgotten by the Corporation – a Right-wing comedian’, adding: ‘It has long been obvious to anyone watching panel shows, sketch shows or sitcoms on British telly that there is a definite bias against Conservatives – and, let’s face it, working-class people.

‘This gigantic monolith that we all have to pay for or go to jail oozes a liberal, Oxbridge-educated, metropolitan elite agenda at every pore.’

Mr Kearse complains that Left-wing comedians such as Mr Kumar ‘all come out with the same stuff – Boris Johnson and Donald Trump have silly hair and are stupid’.

The report’s authors highlight examples of ‘non-woke’ comedians who they think should be given more of an airing by the BBC, including Scott Capurro, whose anti-woke material includes: ‘Are there any radical Muslim fundamentalists in tonight? They’re always dying for attention.’

Another is Tania Edwards, who jokes: ‘I think having a referendum on Brexit was a mistake, I do.

‘I think it’s like asking your husband if he wants a threesome for his 40th. He was supposed to say No.’

The BBC said: ‘We don’t analyse our comedy by comparing numbers. We judge it on it being funny, how popular it is and whether it reflects a range of different voices and views.’ …”

  5. Mr. President: Time to Invoke the Insurrection Act
    USA Survival – December 12, 2020

Legal expert Mark Adams explores the “fishy” Supreme Court ruling by “black robed criminals” in the Texas case and recommends that Trump use the Insurrection Act to seize evidence of vote fraud and defeat the forces of China Joe Biden. He explains to host Cliff Kincaid that, at the same time, citizens must file criminal complaints with their local Sheriffs over election fraud and other corrupt acts. He estimates that Trump won the election with 100 million votes.

  6. Judge Gives Residency to Migrant Who Set Village on Fire, Killing Multiple People (breitbart, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/13/italian-judge-grants-residency-to-migrant-who-burned-village-down-killing-several/

“A judge has granted humanitarian residency to a Gambian migrant who admitted to having started fires in his native village, killing several people.

The migrant arrived in Italy in 2016 but was initially denied asylum by the Bologna Territorial Commission in September of 2018. He then appealed the decision to the Bologna court, which granted him a residency permit on humanitarian grounds late last month.

According to a report from newspaper Il Giornale, the migrant admitted to setting a large part of his village on fire.

He told judges that he had worked in the fields of his village after two years at an Islamic school, and one day he set dry grass on fire which spread to nearby houses due to heavy winds. The fire ultimately killed several people and put others in the hospital.

According to the migrant, relatives of the victims were so enraged they planned to kill him. He said he escaped the village after locals broke into his home and attacked him.

In 2015 he travelled to Libya where he remained for eleven months before coming to Italy illegally.

The judge who granted the Gambian residency said that he had no family to return to in his native country and claimed that he was on the path to integration, citing these as reasons for him to be allowed to remain in the country.

Humanitarian residency permits were scrapped for a period by former interior minister Matteo Salvini, of the populist League (Lega) party, as part of his security and migration decrees in 2018.

The decree was part of Salvini’s tough stance on mass migration which largely stopped migrant taxi NGOs from entering Italian ports and led to a huge decrease in new migrant arrivals and in drowning deaths in the Mediterranean sea.

The current leftist coalition government under Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, however, has fought against Salvini’s security decrees and sought to repeal them.”

  7. Sometimes I find interest in an article or subject precisely because it is conspicuous for its inconspicuousness. Maybe I think that if I start thinking from a most ridiculous location I will discover something more meaningful than I would have otherwise. Or maybe not.

For example, a while back I became interested in hot water radiators. I tried to calculate how many square feet of warm metal one of my rads would measure out to if it could be flattened into one big cast iron sheet and hung on the wall. What an ingenious invention, thought I, concealing all that square footage in the compact form that is a radiatior. The guys who conceived these things sure were smart. Just because they didn’t have a clue about the internet didn’t make them stupid. No sir.

Then I began to wonder about paint. What is the best kind of paint for these heavy metal accordians? Or maybe no paint is best. Surely all those layers slathered on over the years begin to represent a degree of insulating inefficiency? Talk about important questions of the day! Chinese commies, globalist maniacs, climate change, voodoo vaXXXes–(nice touch with the triple X, huh?)–and here I am contemplating radiator paint. Step aside, folks, the big brain is comin’ through…

Master sleauthing, I go online, digging into the very bowels of the sum-total of PEOPLEKIND’S accumulated knowledge on radiator paint. It occurs to me how tragic it is that an important book or scroll on the subject was possibly lost in the great fire of the ancient Alexandria library. What other wonders were in that library? Documents on aliens visiting Earth? Were they redheads? Did they give us the stupidest sport in the history of humanity which is golf? Did they tell the Neanderthals   that the best way to play the stupidest game in the universe was, well, stupidly? Like, I mean, go spank your little white balls at a passing zebra and try to feed your family, or something. Never mind the stupid holes, Neanderthal. So let it be known in the here and now that this is the secret of golf. Let no person claim hereafter that this comment was somehow wasted.

Anyway like the man in the movie said: “…I gots to know….”

So there I am in the bowels, so to speak, and wouldn’t you know it. I find a scientific study done by some eggheads from MIT, or another egghead bastion, in the 1930’s about what paint renders radiators most efficient in terms of their ability to radiate heat energy. Thank goodness, says I, that this critical knowledge was not lost in the great fire. And is not the name “radiator” and this object’s function of “radiating” heat now not so coincidental? See how it works? Huh? Now we’re really getting somewhere! The profundity is bracing, to say the least.

This scientific study concludes that the best possible paint for the efficiency of radiators is, wait for it…wait for it…DARK paint!

You heard it here, first, fellow Vlad Tepians. There was no mention of what I was so sure the study would find, which was that the best paint for radiators would be some kind of highly-conductive metallic paint. Rather, nothing of the sort emerged. After all that scientific research and energy the very best scientific minds found that the best way to make your radiator most efficient was to paint it brown. Wow. This made absolutely no sense at all to me.

What a journey this has been. The highs, the lows, and the roads less travelled. Forgive me for waxing poetic. And we’re not done yet. Science in all its glory leads us like the Pied Piper to truth and salvation, safety and liberty. Or so we think. I mean, if you can’t trust science who can you trust? Today radiator paint. Tomorrow a cure for Covid-19?

Doctors contradicting doctors. So many unnecessary deaths says one, because it’s not just the flu. It’s just the flu says the next doctor. Competing Pied Pipers.

    A storm of disinformation. Caution.

    • You should have asked me (or better still, my husband), I might have been able to save you the research,…..:)
We have a small shed with a black roof and it was intensely hot in the summer, the heat radiated off the roof inside. So my genius husband, (I would never have thought of this, even though I knew that Missionaries in Africa wear white clothing rather than the traditional black, because black absorbs the heat, while white reflects it) painted the roof this summer with a white plastic paint, and the difference is amazing. It’s cool enough to work in the shed on hot days now.
The paint is good for wood or metal, maybe it would work in reverse, with black paint giving off more heat. One thing however, once you’ve put it on, you can’t take it off, so you have to be sure.
Maybe the best place to go sleuthing is in your local hardware store, with some knowledgeable sales assistant if you’re still interested. Wisdom can be found in the most unlikely places at times.

      • Thanks EW. While I do understand how black absorbs and white reflects–that’s the easy part–I don’t see the logic of how colour matters in the absence of sunlight, or any environment where absorption of heat is not a factor.

    • the guardian – Details revealed of secret deal that gave Chinese spies free rein in Switzerland

Agents travelled from China at Swiss taxpayers’ expense to interview deportation targets

The full text of a secret deal between Switzerland and China that allowed Chinese security officials access to the country at Swiss taxpayers’ expense has been revealed for the first time as the government pushes to renew it.

The five-year “readmission agreement”, which was signed in 2015 and expired on Monday, lays out terms for Chinese agents to travel to Switzerland and interview suspected Chinese nationals that Swiss authorities wished to deport.

Unlike more than 50 similar deals Switzerland has signed with other countries, it was never published by the government and was not even publicly acknowledged until August.

The official English translation of the agreement has been obtained by Safeguard Defenders, an Asia-focused human rights campaign group. It reveals an extraordinary commitment to secrecy within an agreement that had itself been concealed from the public, the group says.

The “experts” from the ministry of public security (MPS) had to be invited on the two-week “missions”, but once the invitation had been issued China could choose its agents without Swiss approval.

They could enter the country without official status, and Switzerland committed to keeping their identity confidential. The reports they produced for Swiss authorities were also kept secret.

Readmission deals are a regular part of international law, but Safeguard Defenders said the 2015 arrangement with Beijing, which was not reciprocal, was of “an entirely different character” from others signed by Switzerland.

The secrecy surrounding both the agreement itself and the work of Chinese agents, the choice of partner – a security super-ministry with extensive remit including police and intelligence services – and even the presence of agents were unusual.

“In only a minority of cases [do other readmission] deals allow for the other party to send representatives to accompany the individual to be returned, and in those cases [the representatives] are limited to that specific activity, and it is a public, official duty being carried out,” Safeguard Defenders said.

The deal was extremely favourable to the Chinese and went above and beyond normal migration information-sharing arrangements, said Margaret Lewis, a law professor at Seton Hall University in the US.

“It strikes me as odd that if it was as low level as someone who was staying in Switzerland illegally, the PRC [People’s Republic of China] would bother sending over officials,” she said. “The incentives [for MPS officials to travel] would likely be people who are … of interest to the PRC government.”

There were no provisions to supervise the agents’ activities beyond their work with Swiss authorities. What is more, because the agents’ unofficial status probably meant they were travelling on tourist visas, they could have had access to the whole Schengen area, said Peter Dahlin, the director of Safeguard Defenders.

“What they do during that two weeks is completely unsupervised,” Dahlin said. “Theoretically, the fact that it’s allowed is remarkable … If this was kept secret, that means other governments wouldn’t know.”

The agreement triggered outrage in Switzerland when its existence was first reported by a local news outlet in August, at a time of growing international concern about China’s targeting of dissidents and opposition figures.

Until then, the deal had been kept so secret that even the Swiss parliament and foreign affairs committee did not know of its existence. The committee has since voted to demand consultation before its renewal.

The Swiss secretariat for migration (SEM) defended the agreement as a necessary curb on illegal migration, saying it controlled the information given to Chinese officials. The SEM said it had only been used once, in 2016, when four asylum seekers were among 13 people deported.

Campaign groups have said Switzerland may be at risk of violating non-refoulement principles, which ban the return of refugees to places where they may be at risk. They raised concerns that there was no mechanism to monitor treatment of people deported after they were returned to China.

“Given China’s appalling record of detainees’ rights, it’s also a legitimate concern if the repatriated persons would be exposed to torture or other ill-treatment if they were detained,” said Leo Lan, a spokesman for the Chinese Human Rights Defenders campaign group.

An SEM spokesman told Swiss media that only people who were not at risk of persecution in their home country would be targeted – so Tibetan and Uighur asylum seekers were excluded –, but this protection was not written into the deal.

Wang Aizhong, an activist based in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, said the deal could also endanger people who left Hong Kong, now that the territory was under far greater Chinese control. Wang said continuation of the agreement between China and Switzerland might leave Switzerland in an “awkward or immoral situation”.

In recent years China has become more active in using bilateral and multilateral avenues such as Interpol, as well as entering other countries unofficially, to track down Chinese nationals of interest. There have also been greater human rights concerns over the treatment of detainees domestically.

Lewis said this made it all the more alarming that Switzerland would allow MPS officials to enter with little supervision. “Usually governments want to keep close tabs on any foreign agents who are on their soil,” she said. “If in Switzerland the MPS officials have time to roam free [outside of the Swiss-initiated interviews], I worry about the possibility for interactions with other PRC nationals that are unofficial in nature, and the potential for coercion.”

  8. Time to focus on the reality of the 2020 vote
    By J.E. Dyer December 13, 2020

The 2020 election case was always going to come down to this: it was rigged through automated voting systems, apparently using a strategy of focusing on the vote in a handful of battleground states; and in at least one state, the officials of the state were well aware in advance of the system vulnerabilities that facilitated rigging the election.

It wasn’t merely the officials of that state (Georgia), however, who knew every particular because all the information was lodged as expert witness testimony in a lawsuit decided in October 2020. (Anyone who hasn’t read this decision should do so before commenting on whether we have evidence of vote manipulation from the 3 November vote. The patterns detected and demonstrated in the 3 November vote tabulation were all previewed in the details of expert testimony discussed in this decision by U.S. Judge Amy Totenberg.)

It was also the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the DHS Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and a number of members of Congress, including high-profile Democrats like Senator Elizabeth Warren.

      Sunday protection

1700 years Sunday – the anniversary

      Dear people interested in Sunday,

Yes, Sunday, or rather the Sunday protection, actually has a birthday. Public Sunday protection was established for the first time for the Roman Empire on March 3, 321 AD by an edict of Emperor Constantine I.

      In the wording it says:

“All judges, townspeople and traders should rest on the venerable day of the sun.”

Thus, the Sunday protection will be exactly 1700 years old and we will celebrate this on

March 3rd in Essen – House of Technology + Online (from 11 a.m.)
      – keynote speaker Herbert Prantl

and prepare with numerous campaigns, projects and competitions. We are now strengthened, bringing the protection of Sundays, better and shorter shop opening times and a “right to not be reached” into the public discussion.

Because: Without Sunday there would only be rushing.
Without Sunday it would only be a working day.
Without a Sunday there is no time for family celebrations.
No noise and truck traffic every day on Sundays.
No solemn church services without Sunday.
Without Sunday … everything is nothing!

      • It’s not martial law.
        It’s the Insurrection Act.
        Nothing less.

The support has not been forthcoming. I’m not certain it can be, given the state of our institutions. Enemies {foreign and domestic}, compromise and cowardice within our own ranks. Enemedia.

Intimidation and psyops, the American people have been pummeled to nervous exhaustion.
        Am I projecting?

There’s still the process, justification for our own piece of mind and for the history books. To anyone who can fog a mirror, the election was invalid. Textbook color revolution.

        • It’s not martial law.
          It’s the Insurrection Act.

A rose by any other name.

There’s still the process, justification for our own piece of mind and for the history books. To anyone who can fog a mirror, the election was invalid. Textbook color revolution.

It was and invalid and yes it was part of a Color (Communist) revolution.

The article spelled out the justification for the continued fight in the legal arena, in the State Legislatures and Congress https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/3/15 We have some RINOs in both Houses of Congress but if the vote is contested and Congress accepts and approves the reason the vote is being Contested is is up to Congress.

The Insurrection act is the last resort, I hope we don’t have to go that route, one or more State Legislatures stepping up and sending their own slate of electors is a much better way to go. Not that this will matter to the Swamp and the Propaganda Media (I know redundant). Anything besides full surrender will be called a coup.

          • True, it is the last resort.
It’s hard to stay focused on the process – it does still have a chance – when the threat is so dire.

  10. Germany: Merkel announces tougher COVID measures, including closure of non-essential stores

German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced tougher COVID-19 measures from Wednesday, including the closure of non-essential stores and schools, during a press conference held in Berlin on Sunday, following a meeting with Germany’s premiers.

The new measures will be in effect until at least January 10 in a bid to tackle the second coronavirus wave and prevent the country’s hospitals from getting overwhelmed.

    • Germany: Bavaria’s Soder announces statewide night time curfew

Bavarian Minister-President Markus Soder announced that a nightly curfew would apply for the whole of the state as part of a ‘complete lockdown’ in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

As in the measures announced for the rest of Germany, the lockdown will include the closing of all non-essential shops, as well as schools and kindergartens.

The selling of alcohol for public consumption will also be prohibited and employers strongly encouraged to enable their employees to work from home-office, Minister-President Soeder stressed.

The curfew that has already been imposed for 200 localities, will now apply for the whole Bayern.

“All these measures will be valid until January 10,” explained Soeder. “Also, I can’t imagine that everything will just go back to normal afterwards,” he added.

  11. Germany: Arrests and scuffles in Frankfurt as Querdenken demo despite ban

Arrests were made as police scuffled with protesters who gathered in Frankfurt on Saturday, despite the demonstration being prohibited by Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel due to concerns that measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus would not be implemented. Around 40,000 were registered to attend.

Police could be seen enforcing mask obligations, as protesters and counter-protesters marched through the streets with banners. A water cannon was also present.

An urgent application to appeal the demonstration ban, submitted to the Federal Constitutional Court on the same day, also failed.

As of Saturday, Germany recorded over 1,320,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, with 21,651 linked deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

The German government has stated that its target is at most 50 new cases per 100,000 over a seven-day period in order to allow contact tracing systems to function.

  12. Turkey-backed Azerbaijan Threatens to Crush Armenia’s ‘Head’ with ‘Iron Fist’ as Ceasefire Breaks (breitbart, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/13/turkey-backed-azerbaijan-threatens-to-crush-armenias-head-with-iron-fist-as-ceasefire-breaks/

“Armenian officials and Azerbaijan on Saturday accused each other of breaching a peace deal that ended six weeks of fierce fighting over Nagorno-Karabakh, and Azerbaijan’s leader threatened to crush Armenian forces with an “iron fist.”

The new clashes mark the first significant breach of the peace deal brokered by Russia on Nov. 10 that saw Azerbaijan reclaim control over broad swathes of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding lands which were held by Armenian forces for more than a quarter-century.

Separatist officials in Nagorno-Karabakh said the Azerbaijani military launched an attack late Friday that left three local ethnic Armenian servicemen wounded.

Russian peacekeepers deployed to the region to monitor the peace deal reported a violation of the cease-fire in the Gadrut region on Friday. The report issued Saturday by the Russian Defence Ministry didn’t assign blame.

Later in the day, the Armenian Defense Ministry also charged that the Azerbaijani army mounted an attack in the south of Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reacted on Saturday by blaming Armenia for the new clashes and threatened to “break its head with an iron fist.”

Armenia shouldn’t try to start it all over again,” Aliyev said during a meeting with top diplomats from the United States and France who have tried to mediate the decades-old conflict. “It must be very cautious and not plan any military action. This time, we will fully destroy them. It mustn’t be a secret to anyone.”

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said in a statement late Saturday that its forces thwarted Armenian “provocations” and restored the cease-fire.

Armenian officials said the fighting raged near the villages of Hin Tager and Khtsaberd, the only settlements in the Gadrut region that are still controlled by Armenian forces. They noted that the two villages have been fully encircled by the Azerbaijani army, which controls the only road leading to them.

Nagorno-Karabakh lies within Azerbaijan but was under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since a separatist war there ended in 1994. That war left Nagorno-Karabakh itself and substantial surrounding territory in Armenian hands.

In 44 days of fighting that began in late September and left more than 5,600 people killed on both sides, the Azerbaijani army pushed deep into Nagorno-Karabakh, forcing Armenia to accept last month’s peace deal that saw Azerbaijan reclaim much of the separatist region along with surrounding areas. Russia deployed nearly 2,000 peacekeepers for at least five years to monitor the peace deal and to facilitate the return of refugees.

Azerbaijan marked its victory with a military parade on Thursday that was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and involved more than 3,000 troops, dozens of military vehicles, and a flyby of combat aircraft.

The peace deal was a major shock for Armenians, triggering protests calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan, who has refused to step down. He described the peace agreement as a bitter but necessary move that prevented Azerbaijan from taking over all of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

  13. Woman Badly Beaten By Masked Men in Swedish No-Go Zone (breitbart, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/13/woman-badly-beaten-by-masked-men-in-swedish-no-go-zone/

“A woman was hospitalised after a vicious beating by a group of masked men in one of Sweden’s so-called “vulnerable” areas, or no-go zones, while out with friends.

The woman, who was accompanied by two of her friends, was out walking in the area of Norrby when several masked men approached them in a car, got out of the vehicle, and began to chase them.

While two of the women managed to escape the gang of men, one, said to be in her twenties, did not, and she was viciously beaten. She was later taken to a local hospital but the true extent of her injuries remains unclear, Nyheter Idag reports.

Local police say that details on the incident are unclear and no suspects in the case have been arrested. It is so for unknown how many men were even involved in the attack, and the motivation also remains unclear.

Hans-Jörgen Ostler, a local police press spokesman, said that police are choosing not to release a description of the attackers, but are investigating the matter as an aggravated assault.

Norrby, which is located in the city of Borås, was noted last year as having a large migrant population, particularly migrants from Somalia, with 37 per cent of the residents in the area being born overseas.

A report about the area claimed that “veil-wearing has already started to occur in pre-school already at the age of one,” and that “morality police” sometimes attack women who refuse to wear an Islamic veil in the area.

Several residents of the area are also said to have travelled to the Middle East to fight for groups like the Islamic State in recent years, and Islamic extremism has become a major issue.

Past surveys of women across Sweden have found many are afraid to go out after dark in certain areas of the country, with many citing security concerns.”

  14. Swedish Politician: Only 68 of 7,000 ‘High School Amnesty’ Migrants Have Jobs (breitbart, Dec 13, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/13/swedish-politician-only-68-of-7000-high-school-amnesty-migrants-have-jobs/

“Swedish Moderate Party MP Hanif Bali has claimed that of 7,000 Afghan “high school amnesty” migrants in Sweden, just 68 have full-time work.

Bali, a noted critic of mass migration, pushed back against those who support the so-called “high school amnesty” for around 7,000 Afghan migrants that was passed in 2018 despite indications that 78 per cent of the supposedly underage migrants eligible were actually adults.

“Of the approximately 7,000 rejected migrants who received the high school amnesty, only 68 have managed to get a permanent job, and after 5 years in the country, 5,800 have still not completed their high school studies,” Bali said on Friday.

“Yet they are described by all amnesty advocates as having ‘education and jobs’. Pure lie,” he alleged.

Bali’s claim matches prior trends that have shown high rates of unemployment among asylum seekers in Sweden who have arrived since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

A 2019 report claimed that as many as 90 per cent of the 40,019 migrants who came to the country in 2015 and were granted residency were unemployed, and eight of the ten municipalities who took in the largest share of migrants per capita had unemployment rates well above the national average.

Economist Per Lundborg claimed last year that a lack of education was the main hurdle for asylum seekers, saying: “Sweden is one of the most high-tech countries in the world, where we streamline simpler jobs. Therefore, the knowledge gap is too large for many of the refugee immigrants who come here.”

Earlier this year, the Swedish Public Employment Office revealed that 43 per cent of the migrants without work lacked a high school education, compared to just 18 per cent of unemployed native Swedes.”

Most stores shut, tight limits on social contacts, no singing in church and a ban on fireworks sales: Germany is ratcheting up its pandemic restrictions in an effort to cut the stubbornly high rate of coronavirus infections.

Chancellor Angela Merkel said she and the governors of Germany’s 16 states agreed Sunday to step up the country’s lockdown measures from Dec. 16 to Jan. 10 to help stop the exponential rise in cases.

Some passers-by in central Berlin said they supported a new nationwide lockdown coming into force next week, with one telling Reuters he would have to close his own shop, but that he still agreed with the measures because of the strain on hospitals.

Germany has been in partial lockdown for six weeks, with bars and restaurants closed, while stores and schools have remained open. Some regions have already imposed tougher measures as infections grew.

China cheers Biden victory: We’re on a ‘return to the right track’

    Joe Biden, Xi Jinping

Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister for China, celebrated Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election by saying it marked a “return to the right track.” Speaking to the board of the US-China Business Council (USCBC), the representative of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) revealed his goal of improving relations with the United States.

That goal would require the removal of barriers put in place to smooth dialogue. The hard-line stance of the Trump administration, for instance.

“The most urgent task currently is for the two sides to work together to remove all sorts of barriers to achieve a smooth transition in China-US relations,” said Yi, adding, “Based on the direction of mutual benefits for our two peoples and countries, we need to strive to restart dialogue, return to the right track and rebuild trust in this next phase of relations.”

New York City public housing project

At a time when the Left is obsessed with reducing the federal prison population by decriminalizing “lesser” offenses, the criminal population is busy inventing new reasons why they should stop trying so hard. Early Saturday morning, an EMS unit from a hospital in Brooklyn was dispatched in response to a 911 call to a low-income housing project where a person was said to be experiencing seizures. When paramedics arrived at the provided address, they were greeted by an armed gunman who demanded that they hand over their equipment.

According to NBC New York, the suspect got away with two EMT radios, a tech bag, and medical equipment. If the perp was hoping to score some drugs, he was barking up the wrong tree. The only drugs paramedics carry with them on emergency calls are things like epinephrine for anaphylaxis, albuterol for asthma, and nitroglycerine for chest pain.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, oversaw the infamous coronavirus nursing home scandal in the Empire State, resulting from an executive order he issued during the height of the pandemic. The directive resulted in thousands of nursing home patients dying because such facilities were prohibited from turning away COVID-positive people. Cuomo has not taken responsibility for the scandal, instead choosing to blame Republicans for an order that had his name on it.

Now Joe Biden, the media-declared president-elect, is reportedly considering Cuomo for a top government post in his administration.

Hazard told the press: “We believe what is going on in this county is an important thing. It’s a balance between biblical values and anti-biblical values.”

The vanguard marched in front of the priests who were blowing the horns, and the rear guard marched behind the Ark, with the horns sounding all the time. … On the seventh day, they rose at daybreak and marched around the city, in the same manner, seven times; that was the only day that they marched around the city seven times. On the seventh round, as the priests blew the horns, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city.” (Joshua 6)

Northwestern University has admonished a former lecturer who wrote a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed mocking Jill Biden for routinely using ‘Dr.’ in her title despite only having a Ph.D. in education.

In an essay titled “Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D.,” author Joseph Epstein argued that Jill Biden’s use of “Dr.” before her name “sounds and feels fraudulent, not to say a touch comic,” adding that a Ph.D. “may once have held prestige, but that has been diminished by the erosion of seriousness and the relaxation of standards in university education generally.”

Following the Op-Ed, former NPR/NBC journalist David Gura noted that Northwestern had scrubbed Epstein’s profile from its website, which previously listed him as an “emeritus lecturer.” In a statement to Gura, Northwestern and its English Department said that the university disagrees with Epstein’s “misogynistic views” – despite the fact that gender had nothing to do with his op-ed.

[…]As Fox News notes, “Jill Biden’s title was the subject of attention earlier this year when Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of “The View,” mistakenly believed Jill Biden was a medical doctor instead of an educator, with Goldberg even expressing hope that Jill Biden would become surgeon general in a Biden administration.”

  27. Sidney Powell: Trump Could Trigger 2018 Executive Order on Foreign Election Interference
By Jack Phillips and Jan Jekielek
    December 13, 2020 Updated: December 13, 2020

Lawyer Sidney Powell asserted that due to alleged foreign interference in the Nov. 3 election, “it’s more than sufficient to trigger” President Donald Trump’s executive order on foreign interference issued in 2018.

In September 2018, Trump signed an executive order that says “not later than 45 days after the conclusion of a United States election, the Director of National Intelligence, in consultation with the heads of any other appropriate executive departments and agencies (agencies), shall conduct an assessment of any information indicating that a foreign government, or any person acting as an agent of or on behalf of a foreign government, has acted with the intent or purpose of interfering in that election,” according to the text of the order.

Powell told The Epoch Times she believes that due to that executive order, it can give Trump “all kinds of power … to do everything from seize assets to freeze things, demand the impoundment of the machines,” referring to voting machines.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.) (NEA), section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (8 U.S.C. 1182(f)), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the ability of persons located, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections, including through the unauthorized accessing of election and campaign infrastructure or the covert distribution of propaganda and disinformation, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. Although there has been no evidence of a foreign power altering the outcome or vote tabulation in any United States election, foreign powers have historically sought to exploit America’s free and open political system. In recent years, the proliferation of digital devices and internet-based communications has created significant vulnerabilities and magnified the scope and intensity of the threat of foreign interference, as illustrated in the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.

At least one person was shot at an outdoor Christmas show at St. John the Divine Church on Sunday in Manhattan, according to multiple reports.
The shooter was seen firing near the church around 4 pm eastern, according to police and a Reuters photographer at the scene.

New York City Police Department spokesman Edward Riley said the gunman shot at the officers and they returned fire, hitting the shooter and then apprehending him. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

No officer has been reported as injured, and there was no immediate information about any casualties among civilians.

Manhattan borough president Gale A. Brewer confirmed the shooting incident on Twitter, revealing two staff members were present at the church at the time. She warned people to stay away from the area as police continue to investigate.

Police shoot man at Manhattan’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine

A man who opened fire on police Sunday was shot outside Manhattan’s famed Cathedral of St. John the Divine, officials said.

The gunfire erupted about 3:55 p.m., and it’s not yet clear if it took place on the grounds of the Morningside Heights church. Though the cathedral is closed for indoor mass, it hosted a Christmas carol performance on the front steps at 3 p.m.

An NYPD spokesman said the man started shooting at officers, and they returned fire, critically wounding him. Medics took him to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital.

Police recovered two guns from the scene, cop sources said Sunday.

A gunman opened fire during a Christmas show with singing carolers on the front steps of St. John the Divine Cathedral in Harlem on Sunday, police and reports said.

The gunman, who was in a red jacket, had been firing into the air, law-enforcement sources said. He was shot by a responding Emergency Services Unit officer and is in critical condition and not expected to live, sources said.

Police had received about a dozen 911 calls from the scene saying shots were fired around 3:45 p.m. — prompting chaos as people fled in terror and took cover behind cars, sources said.

Officers outside the famed church at West 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue saw the gunman firing his weapon, an NYPD rep told The Post.

“He was shooting it up in the air and toward police,” a high-ranking department source said.

Officers fired at the man, and he was hit and taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he was clinging to life, sources said.

The shooting came during a scheduled free Christmas carol performance on the steps of the historic church by the Cathedral Choir.

The performance was the cathedral’s first public event since the coronavirus pandemic hit the Big Apple.

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) on Friday urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to refuse to seat any of the 126 Republican House members who signed an amicus brief supporting a lawsuit aimed at overturning the results of the presidential election.

Pascrell, who has been among the most vocal proponents in Congress of investigations into President Trump, called on Pelosi in a letter to “exclude” any members who signed the brief, claiming they want to “tear the United States government apart.”

Pascrell cites Section 3 of the 14th amendment – which states that anyone who “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” cannot serve in federal office – claiming the lawsuit seeks to “obliterate public confidence in our democratic system” and that those who signed it committed “unbecoming acts that reflect poorly on our chamber.”

Doctors and scientists from around the world have signed a document calling for an end to COVID-19 lockdowns because of “grave concerns” over public health.

The Great Barrington Declaration argues that continued lockdowns cause health issues that outweigh the dangers of the coronavirus and calls for “focused protection.” So far, 671,731 concerned citizens, 37,198 doctors and 12,512 medical and public health scientists from around the world have signed the document.

“Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice,” the document, first published in October by Drs. Jay Bhattacharya, Sunetra Gupta and Martin Kulldorff, reads.

Ric Grenell to Newsmax TV: ‘Russia a Problem, China a Crisis’

Democrats breathlessly chasing the Russian narrative with the Trump campaign have proven to be “hypocrites” with respect to proven evidence of their ties to Chinese espionage, Ric Grenell said Saturday during an appearance on Newsmax TV.

“What we do know is Russia is a problem, but China is a crisis,” Grenell told Saturday’s “America Right Now.” “Eric Swalwell has spent years downplaying the China problem, and I think that’s the heart of what is happening here.

“Certainly hypocrisy in Washington is nothing new and we all just kind of yawn about hypocrisy in Washington, and he’s a hypocrite. There’s no question about it.”

Rep. Swalwell, D-Calif., has been revealed to have had a Chinese spy closely tied to his campaign and fundraising, all while he has been working to smear and impeach President Donald Trump.

  33. UNICEF: Yemen ‘Teetering on Edge of Complete Collapse’
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2020/12/13/2409166/unicef-yemen-teetering-on-edge-of-complete-collapse

“UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore called Yemen the most dangerous place on earth for children, warning that the impoverished Arab country is “teetering on the edge of complete collapse” as a result of the ongoing Saudi-led war.

“Over 80 percent of people require urgent humanitarian assistance and protection. Including 12 million children, whose lives are a waking nightmare,” Fore said recently during a virtual event.

She added, “It is perhaps the most dangerous place on earth to be a child. One child dies every ten minutes from a preventable disease. Two million are out of school. And thousands have been killed, maimed, or recruited since 2015. Just last week, 11 were reportedly killed, including a one-month-old baby.”

“The situation on the ground is a tangle of crises – any one of which would bring a country to its knees. Conflicts across 49 frontlines – up from 36 in just one year. An economy in tatters – families can no longer cope.”

“Support systems and infrastructure – from hospitals and schools to water and sanitation systems – on the brink of collapse. A COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the country. Through all of this, our humanitarian teams are facing fighting, blockades, and bureaucratic hurdles to reach the millions who need our help,” Fore stressed, according to the Middle East Monitor.

She continued, “And now, despite repeated warnings, the country is facing a nutrition crisis. 2.1 million children are acutely malnourished – and almost 358,000 severely malnourished. We believe famine-like conditions have already begun for some children.”

The UNICEF official reiterated, “These are not just numbers on a page. These are millions of individual tragedies. Millions of blighted futures. And millions of parents making the gut-wrenching choice between food and medical care for their children.”

Saudi Arabia launched a devastating military aggression against Yemen in March 2015 in collaboration with a number of its allied states, such as the UAE, and with arms support from the US and several Western countries.

The aim was to return to power the Riyadh-backed regime of former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and defeat the Houthi Ansarullah movement that has taken control of state matters.

Since then, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).

The war has failed to achieve its goals, but killed tens of thousands of innocent Yemenis and destroyed the impoverished country’s infrastructure. The UN refers to the situation in Yemen as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.”

  34. Egypt Trains Sinai Imams on How to Confront Extremist Ideologies
    https://english.aawsat.com/home/article/2680306/egypt-trains-sinai-imams-how-confront-extremist-ideologies

“Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf launched a training course for imams in North and South Sinai on how to confront extremist ideologies, as part of its efforts to counter the hate speech spread by extremist groups.

The course kicked off on Saturday at the International Awqaf Academy, a training institute for imams and preachers.

The training aims at spreading the concepts of tolerance and coexistence, a source stated, adding that it contributes to the Egyptian state’s efforts to confront the terrorist groups.

In August 2020, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered the development of training programs for imams and preachers to bolster the capabilities of imams and maximize their communication skills.

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said Saturday his ministry prioritizes training imams of North Sinai and other border areas because they are on one of the major frontlines in the fight against terrorism.

Community participation and the opening of bridges of trust with society can be achieved with time and through imams and preachers, the minister noted.

In January 2019, the ministry inaugurated the academy with the aim to train imams and provide trainers from Egypt and abroad.

It said the step was a “practical translation of what the president had requested on the importance of having trained, tolerant and educated clerics.”

In his speech at the course’s opening, Gomaa described as “pioneering” Egypt’s experience in confronting extremism, adding that the ministry’s approach is based on the need for continuous qualitative education and training.”

“A recent report of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, seen by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, showed that there are 2,225 Saudis who have been employed during the recent period by private sector establishments under a scheme of settling violations imposed on them.

These firms took advantage of the violation settlement service, launched by the ministry earlier, in exchange for an increase in the rate of Saudization.

According to the conditions, in order to benefit from the violation settlement service the firm must give a commitment to employ Saudi citizens for a full year, and the firm’s Nitaqat category should be green or higher, in addition to approving the employee’s minimum salary of SR4,000 or more…”

“Iraq has released at least 75 children for lack of evidence for alleged links with the Daesh terrorist group, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a statement, the New York-based rights group said that a special committee of judges in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province “appeared to comply with international human rights standards better than other Iraqi courts.”

It said the committee reviewed individual cases, and ordered the children’s release “for reasons including lack of evidence and preventing double jeopardy, as well as under provisions of Iraq’s amnesty law.”

There was no immediate official comment on the sentence, which was also reported by other Iranian news agencies and a human rights groups, as well as by Ahmady’s lawyer, who said that he would appeal.
