Reader’s Links for December 9, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Cancelling debt by cancelling savings is a component of the Great Reset. Chrystia Freeland, Dystopia’s Nazi-spawned Finance Minister, eluded to this last week. Cancelling savings can also be construed as cancelling capital, which is the lifeblood of every economy. She should make it clear what she means, exactly, by her cryptic comments, because capital has legs and walks. Does this then mean that The Great Reset-ers have designs on capital controls to inhibit capital flight?

LONDON (AP) — U.K. regulators said Wednesday that people who have a “significant history” of allergic reactions shouldn’t receive the new Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine while they investigate two adverse reactions that occurred on the first day of the country’s mass vaccination program.

Professor Stephen Powis, national medical director for the National Health Service in England, said health authorities were acting on a recommendation from the Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.

“As is common with new vaccines the MHRA have advised on a precautionary basis that people with a significant history of allergic reactions do not receive this vaccination after two people with a history of significant allergic reactions responded adversely yesterday,” Powis said in a statement. “Both are recovering well.”

“An Israeli flag with a caption reading “Thank you, Mossad” has been spotted in Tehran, the telegram channel Vahid reported. According to images posted on social media, the flag was hung on a billboard in the Iranian capital. There has been no information so far as to who may have put up the flag.

The development comes almost two weeks after Iranian authorities blamed Israeli intelligence as well as an exiled political group, the People’s Mujahedeen of Iran, for the killing of the country’s top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. Tel Aviv has not officially commented on the accusations, while Tehran has long suspected Israeli intelligence agency Mossad of being behind a series of killings of Iranian scientists.

Several US officials appeared to confirm Iran’s hypothesis, saying the scientist was assassinated by Israeli intelligence. An anonymous Israeli official later told The New York Times that the world should “thank” Tel Aviv for the murder of Fakhrizadeh, adding that Israel would continue acting in order to curtail Iran’s nuclear programme…”

  6. Iran says US sanctions hinder access to COVID-19 vaccines
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-us-sanctions-hinder-access-covid-19-vaccines-74620727

“Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday that U.S. sanctions are making it difficult for Iran to purchase medicine and health supplies from abroad, including COVID-19 vaccines needed to contain the worst outbreak in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump’s administration has imposed crippling sanctions on Iran’s banking sector and its vital oil and gas industry since unilaterally withdrawing the U.S. from Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers in 2018.

While the United States insists that medicines and humanitarian goods are exempt from sanctions, restrictions on trade have made many banks and companies across the world hesitant to do business with Iran, fearing punitive measures from Washington. The country is also cut off from the international banking system, making it difficult to transfer payments.

“Our people should know that for any action we plan to carry out for importing medicine, vaccines and equipment, we should curse Trump a hundred times,” Rouhani was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.

He said even simple transactions to purchase medicine from other countries had become extremely difficult and that it can take “weeks” to transfer funds.

Rouhani said authorities are nevertheless doing what they can to buy vaccines from abroad, hoping to deliver them to high-risk individuals as soon as possible…”

  8. EU wants to boost border security against extremist attacks
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/eu-boost-border-security-extremist-attacks-74621713

“The European Commission wants member states to reinforce external border controls and police cooperation to better protect the 27-nation bloc from extremist attacks.

As part of its Counter-Terrorism Agenda unveiled Wednesday, the EU’s executive arm said an efficient detection of suspects at the bloc’s borders is crucial to guarantee European citizens’ security.

Since the deadly Paris attacks five years ago in which fighters who had returned from Syria were involved, the EU has been repeatedly hit by extremist actions. In 2019, seven jihadist terrorist attacks were carried out in the EU, and twice that number of plots were thwarted by law enforcement.

“Member states should urgently complete the modernization of our external border management within the agreed roadmaps, with the ambition of developing the world’s most modern border management system,” the commission said.

Under the Schengen Information System regulations implemented two years ago, national authorities are already required to create alerts related to “terrorist offenses” and member states need to share information with Europol.

“Despite the progress made, more work is needed,” said the commission, which plans to strengthen the EU agency for law enforcement with an increased budget and larger competences, including the possibility to issue its own alerts on foreign fighters.

The EU’s executive branch also plans to work with member states to improve access to digital evidence and encrypted information used by criminals.

The commission estimates that 5,000 EU residents have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join jihadist groups, including 1,500 who are still in the area and could return with plans to hit European targets.

“All those entering the EU, citizens or not, must be checked against the relevant databases,” said the commission, which will also propose that individuals who have been denied a firearm for security reason in one EU country can’t apply for a weapon in another member state.

In its proposals, the commission urged EU countries to ensure the interoperability of their information systems and to share intelligence on foreign fighters in a bid to carry out efficient, systematic targeted checks.

Last month, after France was hit by consecutive attacks in October, French president Emmanuel Macron pleaded in favor of a reform of the Schengen agreement, through which most EU countries abolished their national borders, to reinforce European security. The topic is expected to be discussed during a meeting of EU leaders starting Thursday in Brussels.

France has already reintroduced border checks since the Paris attacks and is planning to further reinforce its police and military presence at its own borders. More recently, Austria, Sweden and Denmark also reintroduced reinforced controls, citing security reasons.

As part of its strategy to fight radicalization, the EU’s executive branch also urged member states and EU lawmakers to quickly adopt legislation proposed in 2018 and still being discussed that would ensure that terror content would be removed from the internet within an hour.”

  9. France unveils draft law to fight Islamist radical ‘enemy’
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/france-unveils-draft-law-fight-islamist-radical-enemy-74623636

“A draft law aimed at arming France against Islamist radicalism was unveiled Wednesday, a measure promoted by President Emmanuel Macron to rout out what he calls “separatists” undermining the nation.

Parliament is expected to open what is likely to be a lively debate on the draft law in the months ahead. The measure, long in the making and refined until days before its presentation, has gone through various name changes and is now known by the delicate title “Supporting Republican Principles.”

Prime Minister Jean Castex said those whose project is to “divide and spread hate and violence” are at the center of “separatism.”

Separatism is especially dangerous because it “is the manifestation of a conscious, theorized, political-religious project with an ambition to make religious norms predominate over the law,” he said at a news conference.

In an interview with the newspaper Le Monde he said the nature of a law is long-term and it would apply to any political ideology that threatens French values, “even if today it is radical Islamism that we try by all means to fight.”

Castex and others insist that neither Islam as a religion nor regular Muslims are targeted by the draft law. Neither is named in the text made up of about 50 articles aimed at enabling better oversight of mosques, associations, public services and schools. The aim is to reduce the space where radicals can operate and ensure that French values, including secularism, are guaranteed.

Among notable measures is making school obligatory from age 3 with the ability to opt out in favor of home schooling for special cases only. The measure is aimed at ending so-called clandestine schools run by fundamentalists with their own agenda.

Another article encourages mosques to register as places of worship, so as to better identify them. Many of the nation’s more than 2,600 mosques currently operate under rules for associations. Foreign funding for mosques, while not forbidden, would have to be declared if more than 10,000 euros.

The draft law would make it a crime punishable by fines and up to one year in prison for a doctor to provide a young woman with virginity certificates, sometimes demanded ahead of marriage.

To do away with forced marriages, a measure requires the couple to meet separately for an interview with an official when there is a doubt about free consent. If the doubt persists, the official must take the issue to a prosecutor who could forbid the marriage.

Those practicing polygamy would be forbidden French residence cards.”

  10. Victory For Sikh Campaigners Against Blanket ‘Asian’ Description of Child Rape Gangs
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/09/victory-for-sikh-campaigners-against-blanket-asian-description-of-child-rape-gangs/

“The Network of Sikh Organisations (NSO) hailed the move by the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee to recommend against using the word ‘Asian’ when referring to the phenomenon of predominantly Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs in news reports.

The NSO, a registered charity representing 130 gurdwaras (temples) and other Sikh organizations in the UK, hailed the revelation that the 2020 Editors’ Code of Practice review — which will come into effect on January 1st, 2021 — cautioned against using the blanket term when discussing child rape gangs.

“We’ve long complained about the vague term ‘Asian’ to describe those convicted in sexual grooming gang cases,” the Network of Sikh Organisations wrote on social media.

In its review, the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee remained bullish and insisted the blanket term was accurate, but nevertheless could give offence. They said: “Editors may be well advised to approach crimes committed by people identified as members of religious or racial communities with caution – and to be aware that their reporting may, in turn, prompt concern in other communities.”

“British Sikh and Hindu groups have objected to the use of the word ‘Asian’ to describe those convicted in sexual grooming gang cases. While accurate, it is better to avoid such general descriptions but this may not always be possible,” the review added.

The NSO has said for years that the British press should abandon the “vague and expansive” term, arguing that Sikhs would be lumped in with mostly Pakistani Muslims in the minds of the public when thinking about the grooming gang epidemic, which has ravaged British cities such as Rochdale, Rotherham, Oxford, and Telford for decades.

Not only have Sikhs not been found to be the perpetrators of grooming gang crimes, but Sikhs have also in fact been victims of the grooming gang scourge. A 2018 report from the Sikh Mediation and Rehabilitation Team found that young Sikh women were targeted by Muslim grooming gangs for decades. The report alleged that police ignored the plight of the young Sikh women because of “political correctness”.

In 2018, the NSO filed a complaint against the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) for an article in the left-wing British tabloid the Mirror that used the term ‘Asian’ six times when describing what the paper termed “Britain’s ‘worst ever’ child grooming scandal”, in which approximately 1,000 girls were sexually groomed.

“To put it frankly, the word ‘Asian’ gives the false impression gangs of Indian, Thai, Japanese, or Korean men are rampaging across Britain sexually abusing underage white girls on an industrial scale. Is that fair?” the NSO wrote.

“The common denominator in such cases is the deliberate targeting of non-Muslim girls, which we believe should be categorized by the police as a hate crime,” the Sikh group added.

Indeed, the 2014 Jay Report found that over 1,400 mostly white, working-class underage girls were groomed and sexually exploited by mostly Muslim, Pakistani-heritage men just between the years 1997 and 2013.

A report from the counter-extremism think tank Quilliam in 2017 found that 84 percent of those convicted of grooming gang crimes in Britain were Muslim men of South Asian heritage who targeted young white girls because they were seen as “fair game”.

One of the authors of the study, Muna Adil said: “When the final numbers came in we were alarmed and dismayed. For both of us being of Pakistani heritage, this issue is deeply personal and deeply disturbing.”

In 2018 the founder of Quilliam, Maajid Nawaz, accused local police and authorities of being “complicit” in covering up the crimes committed by grooming gangs “for fear of racism”.

“Time and time again, they have found that British Pakistani and Bangladeshi south-Asian Muslim men, like me, have been involved in grooming underage white girls and targeting them in what I would describe as racially-motivated sexual assault,” Nawaz remarked.

A report from the Mayor of Greater Manchester in January confirmed long-held suspicions that police overlooked grooming gangs out of politically correct fears, with one GMP detective constable admitting that he was told by his superiors to “try and get other ethnicities” during child sex abuse inquiries.

In 2018, the Home Office launched a review of the ethnic backgrounds of grooming gang members in the UK. Despite a petition with over 131,000 signatures, demanding the release of the review, the government has still failed to do so.

Freedom of Information requests to access the review have been rejected on grounds that government ministers require a “safe space” in order to craft policy.

The former Home Secretary — who launched the review — Sajid Javid said in 2018: “When it comes to gang-based child exploitation it is self-evident to anyone who cares to look that if you look at all the recent high-profile cases there is a high proportion of men that have Pakistani heritage.”

“There could be – I’m not saying that there are – there could be some cultural reasons from the communities that these men came from that could lead to this kind of behavior,” he added.”

  11. Tunisian Migrant Charged in Connection to French Church Terror Attack
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/09/tunisian-migrant-charged-in-connection-to-french-church-terror-attack/

“French authorities have charged a Tunisian migrant for allegedly stabbing three people to death in what is believed to be an Islam inspired terror attack at a church in France in October.

Brahim Aouissaoui, a 21-year-old Tunisian national was shot and seriously injured during the October 29th attack in Nice, France. He has finally been charged after his condition improved enough to be questioned by police.

The French broadcaster RTL reported on Monday that police had found an audio message on the migrant’s phone, in which he described France as the “land of unbelievers”, as well as “photographs relating” to the so-called Islamic State.

Police also found an image on Aouissaoui’s phone of the Chechen Islamist terrorist Abdulzakh Anzorov, who beheaded a French teacher, Samuel Paty — two weeks prior to the terror attack in Nice — after the teacher showed a class on free speech a Charlie Hebdo caricature of the Islamic prophet Muhammed.

During the attack at the Basilica of Notre-Dame in Nice, Aouissaoui reportedly yelled out the jihadist war cry “Allahu Akbar” during and after the attack. Along with three knives, two mobile phones, the Tunisian migrant was also carrying a copy of the Quran.

In the course of the brutal attack, Aouissaoui allegedly used a 17-centimetre (6?) knife to attack three people, including a 60-year-old woman who died after nearly being beheaded inside the church.

A 54-year-old church employee had his throat cut and another 44-year-old woman died after receiving multiple stab wounds in the attack.

The Tunisian migrant arrived in France just two days before he allegedly committed the heinous act of terror, having travelled from Tunisia into Europe through the Italian island of Lampedusa, which has recently seen a drastic increase in illegal immigration.

Following the attack, right-wing Italian populist Senator Matteo Salvini said that Italy’s interior minister should resign if it was proven that Aouissaoui had indeed travelled to France by way of the Italian island.

In the wake of a string of terror attacks, French President Emmanuel Macron proclaimed last month, that since the European Migrant Crisis of 2015, it was “clear” that “there are breeding grounds for terrorists in France”.

“In certain districts and on the internet, groups linked to radical Islam are teaching hatred of the Republic to our children, calling on them to disregard its laws,” Macron wrote.

“That is what I called ‘separatism’ in one of my speeches. If you do not believe me, read the social media postings of hatred shared in the name of a distorted Islam that resulted in Paty’s death,” he explained.

Macron has embarked on a strident defence of Western Enlightenment values such as the right of freedom of expression as well as French secularism.

As a part of his fight against “separatism” in France, Macron launched a campaign to shut down Islamist associations, and even closed a mosque in Pantin, which shared a fatwa against Samuel Paty before his beheading.

Macron’s defence of French values has sparked widespread protests throughout the Islamic world, with radical Islamists and Al-Qaeda launching death threats against French officials and teachers.”

People with a history of “significant” allergic reactions have been told not to take the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine after two NHS workers who received the jab had “adverse” reactions.

NHS England confirmed that two staff members who were administered doses on Tuesday – on the first day of the mass vaccination programme – suffered an allergic reaction.

Both workers, who had a history of “significant allergic reactions”, are recovering, it is understood.

People with a significant history of allergies should not currently receive the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE, the U.K.’s National Health Service said, after two people experienced reactions from the shots.

The warning came a day after the U.K. became the first western nation to begin a Covid vaccination program, following approval of the shot last week by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. Thousands of people received vaccinations on Tuesday, according to the NHS.

“As is common with new vaccines, the MHRA have advised on a precautionary basis that people with a significant history of allergic reactions do not receive this vaccination,” Stephen Powis, national medical director for the NHS in England, said in a statement.

June Raine, chief executive of the MHRA, said her team looked at two case reports of allergic reactions on Tuesday evening. Both of the people, staff members of the NHS, are recovering well.

“We know from the very extensive clinical trials that this wasn’t a feature, that if we need to strengthen our advice now that we’ve had this experience in the vulnerable populations, we get that advice to the field immediately,” Raine told a panel of lawmakers.

Pfizer and BioNTech said they’re supporting the MHRA in its investigation.

The U.K. agency had already warned in its prescribing information that people who are allergic to any ingredients in the vaccine shouldn’t take it. Patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to a vaccine or severe allergic reactions to any component of the treatment were excluded from participating in the large study run by the companies before approval.

“In the pivotal phase 3 clinical trial, this vaccine was generally well tolerated with no serious safety concerns reported by the independent data monitoring committee,” the companies said in a statement.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla accused the COVID-19 vaccine development of having been ‘politicised,’ fueling the scepticism about it, as he spoke at a virtual briefing of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA) on Tuesday.

“I believe that always they are some people that are sceptics about vaccines but I have to say they are wrong,” Bourla said.

CBC – Follow the COVID-19 rules or you’ll be fined, Quebec Premier Legault warns

‘We cannot allow a minority of people to put the majority at risk,’ Legault said

Premier François Legault says the time for warnings is over — Quebec will be cracking down on those who flout COVID-19 health and safety rules in the coming days.

The province sent an alert at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, using the emergency alert system, to remind people to follow the rules.

Police and inspectors from the province’s workplace safety board will be instructed to issue tickets, which can go up to $6,000, to individuals and businesses that break the laws, Legault said.

People must stay two metres from each other and wear a mask when they are in stores. Stores, based on their size, must limit the number of customers. And only people who live alone are allowed to have a visitor in their home.

“We cannot allow a minority of people to put the majority at risk,” Legault said.

The premier urged Quebecers to reduce their contacts, saying there are too many people with COVID-19 in hospital. The province reported just over 1,700 new cases on Wednesday, and 844 people are hospitalized.

The high number of hospitalizations has had a trickle down effect, he said, as hospitals have scaled back surgeries and other treatments in recent days.

The idea of imposing wide-scale closures over the holiday period to stop the virus from spreading has been gaining steam in recent days, as the cases keep climbing.

Legault reiterated that while he isn’t ruling out imposing further restrictions, he is not there yet. He said whether things get to that point is largely contingent on whether Quebecers follow the rules.

In order to help people reduce their contacts, Legault once again encouraged any businesses that can close from Dec. 17 to Jan. 4 to do so.

      Vaccination plan moves ahead

Health Canada regulators gave the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine the green light Wednesday, paving the way for the start of Quebec’s vaccination campaign.

Five boxes of the vaccine will arrive at two long-term care homes in Montreal and Quebec City Monday, where the residents and employees will be the first in the province to be immunized.

Health Minister Christian Dubé said, as of Dec. 21, vaccinations will begin at other long-term care homes, which will account for about half of the 20 sites that Pfizer has authorized to receive doses of the vaccine.

The other sites are distribution centres that are attached to hospitals. The sites were chosen because they will be equipped with the cold storage needed to keep the vaccine at the required –80 C to –60 C.

The vaccine’s storage specifications are a key reason why, at the moment, Pfizer-BioNTech is not allowing the doses to be transported away from the designated sites.

But Dubé said the company would be open to revising that directive once the vaccinations begin, if all goes well.

“It’s up to us to prove to Pfizer, and I can tell you, we will prove it to them, that we can receive more [vaccine doses] than they’re able to send us because we’re ready,” he said.

Quebec expects to immunize 650,000 people by March 31.

    • Spain: Fraga produces syringes to vaccinate against COVID-19

A factory located in the town of Fraga will be in charge of producing the syringes that will be used to administer the COVID-19 vaccines, as footage filmed on Wednesday shows.

The multinational company Becton Dickinson (BD) will be in charge of producing the necessary elements for vaccination campaigns against COVID-19, mainly syringes and needles. According to their calculations, they estimate to be capable of manufacturing 500 million units.

Javier Pardino, director of the syringe manufacturing plant, explained that “the syringe that we distribute is fundamentally easy to use because the integrated cannula allows a more immediate use, it is simpler to train the personnel who have to use it, and it also has an internal device in the piston that allows maximum use of the vaccine.”

In November, the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced that the results of phase 3 clinical trials of its coronavirus vaccine, developed jointly with its German partner BioNTech, showed 95 percent effectiveness and provides immunity to older people.

On Tuesday the United Kingdom began supplying this vaccine to its citizens, thus becoming the first Western country to vaccinate its population.

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “At the Fraga plant we manufacture syringes and needles, syringes for conventional use, as well as safety syringes and needles, and immunisation products for vaccinations. We also have a line of products that are pre-filled saline syringes.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “We distribute products to different organisations, most of them are governments of countries that made us requests for products, but also international organisations that support campaigns of vaccination.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “The syringe that we distribute is fundamentally easy to use because the integrated cannula allows a more immediate use, it is simpler to train the personnel who has to use it, and it also has an internal device in the piston that allows the maximum use of the vaccine.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “The use of conventional syringes can generate, on average, between 10 and 15 percent of waste, this is what we can be saving since the use of this syringe is more efficient. About 15 percent.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “If the vaccines are individual, what we are going to do is get the most out of the vaccine with this type of device. When the vaccines are multi-dose, after many doses, what we will be saving is approximately fifteen percent in each one, compared to a normal syringe, and that will make a saving.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “We estimate that it will be a production of 500 million units between what we have delivered already and what we have planned for 2021.”

SOT, Javier Pardino, Director of syringe manufacturing plant (Spanish): “As a result of the demand, we have had to increase the production capacity that we will incorporate in 2021 to help us produce those 500 million that we have mentioned.”

    • zero hedge – New York State Assembly Introduces Bill Mandating COVID-19 Vaccine

New Yorkers will no longer have to decide if they will receive a COVID-19 vaccine if a bill calling for a mandatory vaccine gets approved.

New York State Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, a Democrat who represents New York’s 67th Assembly District, quietly introduced a bill on Dec. 4 that would require “COVID-19 vaccine to be administered in accordance with the department of health’s COVID-19 vaccination administration program and mandates vaccination in certain situations.”

Every New Yorker, except those medically exempt, are required to receive the vaccine if the state’s vaccination efforts do not achieve “sufficient immunity from COVID-19.”

Rosenthal told WGRZ-TV the bill was “a protective health measure” that would “ensure that our residents are safe and protected against further spread.”

But in an event where not enough people get vaccinated to reach herd immunity, “the department of health of the state can then say that we need people to get the vaccination.” Rosenthal explained that an estimated 75 percent to 80 percent of the population would need to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity.

Barbara Loe Fisher, cofounder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center, described the legislation as inappropriate.

“It is inappropriate for public health officials and state legislators to be introducing legislation that mandates use of an experimental vaccine being considered for release under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA),” Fisher told The Epoch Times in an email.

“Until a COVID-19 vaccine is formally licensed by the FDA and recommended for use by certain populations by the CDC, it remains an experimental vaccine,” she said. “This kind of bill sends the wrong message to the public.”

The National Vaccine Information Center is a nonprofit organization that publishes “information on diseases and vaccine science, policy, law and the ethical principle of informed consent.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will meet with a panel of independent medical advisers that will discuss whether scientific evidence supports the view that Pfizer’s vaccine, called BNT162b2, is effective in preventing COVID-19 in people aged 16 and older, and if the known benefits outweigh potential risks. COVID-19 is the disease the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus causes.

The FDA released an analysis (pdf) of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine prior to its Dec. 10 meeting, along with Pfizer’s own analysis (pdf) of the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety, and says it will issue an emergency use authorization if the advisory panel gives the vaccine a positive recommendation.

In the UK, the government has already begun vaccinating its citizens. The country became the first to approve Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, grant it an emergency approval, and give it immunity from civil lawsuits, under Regulation 345 of the Human Medicines Regulations (pdf) of 2012.

According to a press release from the UK government, individuals experiencing severe adverse reactions that cause them to be “severely disabled as a result of taking a COVID-19 vaccine” are able to “access financial assistance through the Vaccine Damage Payments Scheme (VDPS).”

Vaccine-injured claimants are entitled to a one-time payment of 120,000 pounds ($161,676) under the scheme if they are able to prove they were injured as a result of being vaccinated.

In the United States, vaccines granted emergency authorization are also not liable for the harm they may cause. The Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act (pdf) allows the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue a PREP Act declaration giving liability immunity to “entities and individuals involved in the development, manufacturing, testing, distribution, administration, and use of such countermeasures.”

People injured by vaccines that have been granted emergency authorization have one year after receiving a vaccine to file a claim and prove their injury under the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program, a federal government program established as a result of the PREP Act. Certain survivors of people who died from those vaccines also qualify.

The PREP Act declaration for COVID-19 (pdf) went into effect on Feb. 4.

If the New York mandatory COVID-19 vaccine bill is approved, the bill will take effect immediately.

“Informed consent to medical risk-taking is a human right. Legislators should not forget that when proposing bills that use coercion and apply sanctions to force citizens to use vaccines without their voluntary consent,” Fisher said.

  18. the gateway pundit – Breaking: YouTube Announces New Censorship Rules – Will Take Down Videos Alleging Fraud and Disputing 2020 U.S. Presidential Election Results

YouTube announced Tuesday it will take down videos questioning the integrity of the U.S. presidential election that millions of Americans, most notably President Trump, believe was stolen through numerous fraudulent actions, lawfare chicanery and computer manipulation.

YouTube says it already has been rigging search results and algorithms to hide “misleading” election videos, describing the censorship effort as, “Limiting the reach of borderline content and prominently surfacing authoritative information.” YouTube says that even though the “misleading” videos account for a miniscule part of viewership, “Problematic misinformation represents a fraction of 1% of what’s watched on YouTube in the U.S,” the firm says, “we know we can bring that number down even more.”

YouTube’s move to censor political speech comes as President Trump is threatening to veto the military appropriations bill over the failure of Congress to repeal the Section 230 law that protects Internet platforms like YouTube from being treated like publishers.

    ===============

    Complete announcement:

    Supporting the 2020 U.S. election

Updates to our work supporting the integrity of the 2020 U.S. election.

Over the past weeks and months, we’ve seen people coming to YouTube to learn more about where and how to vote or learning more about a candidate or an issue. We’ve seen news organizations grow their audience. And we’ve seen people turn to YouTube for the latest election results or simply to follow an historic event with the highest voting turnout in over a century in the U.S.

Our main goal going into the election season was to make sure we’re connecting people with authoritative information, while also limiting the reach of misinformation and removing harmful content. The work here is ongoing and we wanted to provide an update.

Removing content that violates our policies

Our Community Guidelines prohibit spam, scams, or other manipulated media, coordinated influence operations, and any content that seeks to incite violence. Since September, we’ve terminated over 8000 channels and thousands of harmful and misleading elections-related videos for violating our existing policies. Over 77% of those removed videos were taken down before they had 100 views.

We also work to make sure that the line between what is removed and what is allowed is drawn in the right place. Our policies prohibit misleading viewers about where and how to vote. We also disallow content alleging widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of a historical U.S. Presidential election. However in some cases, that has meant allowing controversial views on the outcome or process of counting votes of a current election as election officials have worked to finalize counts.

Yesterday was the safe harbor deadline for the U.S. Presidential election and enough states have certified their election results to determine a President-elect. Given that, we will start removing any piece of content uploaded today (or anytime after) that misleads people by alleging that widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, in line with our approach towards historical U.S. Presidential elections.

For example, we will remove videos claiming that a Presidential candidate won the election due to widespread software glitches or counting errors. We will begin enforcing this policy today, and will ramp up in the weeks to come. As always, news coverage and commentary on these issues can remain on our site if there’s sufficient education, documentary, scientific or artistic context.

    Connecting people to authoritative information

While only a small portion of watch time is election-related content, YouTube continues to be an important source of election news. On average 88% of the videos in top 10 search results related to elections came from authoritative news sources (amongst the rest are things like newsy late-night shows, creator videos and commentary). And the most viewed channels and videos are from news channels like NBC and CBS.

We also showed information panels linking both to Google’s election results feature, which sources election results from The Associated Press, and to the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) “Rumor Control” page for debunking election integrity misinformation, alongside these and over 200,000 other election-related videos. Collectively, these information panels have been shown over 4.5 billion times. Starting today, we will update this information panel, linking to the “2020 Electoral College Results” page from the Office of the Federal Register, noting that as of December 8, states have certified Presidential election results, with Joe Biden as the President-elect. It will also continue to include a link to CISA, explaining that states certify results after ensuring ballots are properly counted and correcting irregularities and errors.

Additionally, since Election Day, relevant fact check information panels, from third party fact checkers, were triggered over 200,000 times above relevant election-related search results, including for voter fraud narratives such as “Dominion voting machines” and “Michigan recount.”

Now let’s look at recommendations, one of the main ways our viewers find content. Limiting the reach of borderline content and prominently surfacing authoritative information are important ways we protect people from problematic content that doesn’t violate our Community Guidelines. Over 70% of recommendations on election-related topics came from authoritative news sources and the top recommended videos and channels for election-related content were primarily authoritative news. In fact, the top 10 authoritative news channels were recommended over 14X more than the top 10 non-authoritative channels on election-related content.

Despite these encouraging results, we recognize there’s always more to do. For example, while problematic misinformation represents a fraction of 1% of what’s watched on YouTube in the U.S., we know we can bring that number down even more. And some videos, while not recommended prominently on YouTube, continue to get high views, sometimes coming from other sites. We’re continuing to consider this and other new challenges as we make ongoing improvements.

We understand the need for intense scrutiny on our elections-related work. Our teams work hard to ensure we are striking a balance between allowing for a broad range of political speech and making sure our platform isn’t abused to incite real-world harm or broadly spread harmful misinformation. We welcome ongoing debate and discussion and will keep engaging with experts, researchers and organizations to ensure that our policies and products are meeting that goal. And as always, we’ll apply learnings from this election to our ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of elections around the world.

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/12/breaking-youtube-announces-new-censorship-rules-will-take-videos-alleging-fraud-disputing-2020-u-s-presidential-election-results/

  19. Germany: Merkel urges tougher lockdown to avoid “last Xmas with grandparents”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel pushed for tougher restrictions to curb the second COVID-19 wave in the country in a speech to the Bundestag in Berlin on Wednesday.

“We are in a crucial, perhaps the crucial phase of pandemic control,” Merkel said, adding that the number of coronavirus cases in the country is still “far too high” and the reduction of contacts between people has not been sufficient to tackle the spread of the virus.

“If we now have too many contacts before Christmas and afterwards, it would be the last Christmas with the grandparents,” the chancellor told the parliament.

Merkel’s remarks were made as part of the debate over the government’s 2021 budget as Germany registered a record daily death toll of 590 people. Since the start of the pandemic, 19,932 people died with coronavirus in the country.

    *SOUNDBITES*

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “We are in a crucial, perhaps the crucial phase of pandemic control. All historical experience would show that the second wave of a pandemic is much more difficult than the first”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “Case numbers remain at far too high a level. And what is alarming is the growing number of people who have to be taken to intensive care and the number of people who die from the virus.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “The conclusion is, the number of contact is too high, the reduction so far is not sufficient.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “Those are the recommendation, to close shops, to keep the number of people meeting as small as possible, we have agreed on the rules that it is possible to meet families during Christmas, but I appeal to everyone to be careful. I say it again, and I have already said it often, and once again – the opening of hotels for overnight stays for relatives as wrong, because they to travel to get there, when it is not completely necessary. But that is something we will not overcome.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “I’d like to simply say that if we now have too many contacts before Christmas and afterwards, it would be the last Christmas with the grandparents, then we will have been negligent, and we should not do that.”

  20. Russia: Suspected killer of French teacher Samuel Paty buried in Chechen Republic

The funeral of the 18-year-old suspected killer of French teacher Samuel Paty, named as Abdullakh Anzorov, was held in the Chechen village of Shalazhi on Sunday. Footage from the event shows approximately 20 men taking part in the funeral procession.

On October 16, the attacker was chased from the site and shot dead by police nearby in Eragny-sur-Oise. 47-year-old history teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded outside his school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, northwest of Paris. The teacher had recently shown caricatures of Islam’s prophet Muhammad to his students during a discussion on freedom of speech.

According to its legislation, France gives the bodies of terrorists for burial at their relatives’ request or buries them in the cemeteries of communes at the expense of the state.

According to media reports, Anzorov’s body was delivered to Chechnya via Turkey after the end of the investigation on Saturday.

As the Grozny TV channel reported, the attacker’s relatives noted that the Chechen authorities also took part in the process of returning his body to Russia.

An adviser on human rights to Chechen authorities, Kheda Saratova, has stated that Anzorov was buried at a traditional Muslim ceremony in compliance with all Islamic canons.

Imam of the Shalazhi village, Adam Alimkhanov, said the funeral procession was held per COVID-19 restrictions in place in the region.

“As you can see, everything is fenced with a tape at the funeral. Nobody is sticking around after they express condolences, except for relatives,” he noted.

  21. Several more states’ AGs offer support for Texas’ Supreme Court election lawsuit
    Phil Shiver
    4-5 minutes

Attorneys general in several additional states — Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Missouri — appeared to throw their support behind a lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton this week alleging that four battleground states exploited the coronavirus pandemic to make unconstitutional changes to mail-in voting rules.

In the lawsuit filed directly with the Supreme Court late Monday night, Paxton accused officials in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin of “violat[ing] statutes enacted by their duly elected legislatures” in order to allow for increased mail-in balloting, thus violating the equal protections clause and skewing the 2020 election results.

The lawsuit is seeking a delay to the Electoral College vote until investigations into potential election fraud can be completed.

  22. zero hedge – Dominion Voting Systems is the second largest vendor in the non-transparent and entrenched election system industry where three vendors control 88-percent of the market.

Recent Dominion contracts with major counties and cities across America set service agreements for years or even decades—helping lock-in the company’s dominant market position and prevent competition.

Dominion Voting Systems was paid $118.3 million to provide election services during the past three years, according to public records. Their revenues came from 19 states and 133 local governments including counties, cities, and even a couple of school districts.

Since presidential election of 2020, Dominion has come under wide public scrutiny, particularly in Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—critical toss-up states with close winning margins.

In their Dunn & Bradstreet filings, Dominion claimed annual sales of $36.5 million with contracts in 22 states and 600 local jurisdictions. However, the Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative estimated that Dominion was in 1,645 jurisdictions with $100 million in annual revenues (2018).

So, our auditors at OpenTheBooks.com tracked Dominion’s revenues using state and local government spending disclosures, i.e. their checkbooks. (Dominion is a private company and, therefore, is not required to disclose financials. However, public bodies must be transparent, because they spend taxpayer money.)

Compiling the records required open record requests in 49 of the 50 states and in 11,400 local governments. Only California, which we are suing, rejected our sunshine request.

Here is a state-by-state description of our findings. (Download our raw payment data spanning 2017 through 2019.)

Georgia: In 2019, a $107 million ten-year contract with Dominion procured by the Secretary of State covers 30,000 touch screen voting machines and the installation of a “verified paper ballot” voting system. $89 million in payments were front-loaded into the first two-years of the contract.

New Mexico: Dominion received $52 million from the state government. Services included the full suite of hardware and software information-technology agreements.

Michigan: $31.5 million flowed from the state government ($30.8 million) and 22 localities over the last three years. Top spending local governments included Detroit ($457,880); Livonia ($65,310); Saginaw ($53,314); Dearborn ($22,975) and Antrim County ($20,056).

Services included machines, equipment repair, election services, ballot marking printers, vote tabulators and ballot boxes, modem cell services contracts, election coding, and voting machine coding.

Nevada: Clark County, the largest in Nevada, contracted for $28.7 million to have the company run its elections through 2032. The Secretary of State’s Office paid Dominion for $510,130.

California: In 2019, the County of Santa Clara contracted with Dominion for up to $16.2 million to run their election services for the next eight-years. San Francisco’s 2019 contract covers five-years for an amount not to exceed $12.7 million.

$11.1 million in payments to Dominion came from just 15 counties and cities. The largest payer was Alameda ($5.2 million). Other counties included San Francisco ($4.2 million, Butte ($376), Glenn ($42,350), Monterey ($233,291), San Benito ($173,049), Santa Cruz ($583), Shasta ($3,975), Sierra ($9,571), Siskiyou ($127,314), Kern ($127,267), San Luis Obispo ($500,536), and San Mateo ($457,703).

Illinois: Cook County, the second most populous county in the country, signed a $31 million ten-year contract with Dominion in 2018. Competitor Election Systems & Software (ES&S) sued alleging equipment scanning problems and lack of state certification; later, ES&S dropped the case. Chicago has a ten-year $22 million deal.

From 2017-2019, payments of $6.2 million from six counties and cities flowed to Dominion. Cook County ($5.5 million) and the City of Chicago ($533,018) were the largest payers. Other counties included DuPage ($70,520), Kankakee ($9,900), Macoupin County ($15,153), and Winnebago ($18,900).

Arizona: We found the 2019-2022 contract in Maricopa County at total taxpayer cost of $6.1 million over three-years. The City of Phoenix also paid Dominion $48,300.

New York: The state spent $95.8 million with Dominion from 2008 through 2014 then renewed the contract through 2021.

From 2017-2019, $4.4 million from 44 government entities paid Dominion. Here are the top five counties: Suffolk ($1.1 million), Niagara ($539,334), Orange ($336,480), Monroe ($301,435), and Madison ($300,884). Interestingly, there were six school districts paying Dominion for election services.

Purchase descriptions ranged from batteries, compact flash memory cards, receipt paper for voting machines, warranty and support for “imagecast voting,” EMS 3-day training, absentee central count ballots and election day ballots, “pre marked test ballots,” firmware and hardware warranty, voting systems, and much more.

Pennsylvania: $1.1 million from five counties contracted with Dominion: Armstrong ($701,560), Crawford ($201,880), Washington ($121,880), Somerset County ($39,286), and Warren ($10,532). The disclosures did not list the services purchased.

Wisconsin: Dominion voting machines are used in the counties of Racine, Washington, and Ozaukee. In the large counties of Dane and Milwaukee, ES&S machines are used.

We were not able to capture government checkbook data on Dominion expenditures in Wisconsin.

  23. Turkish-Led Gang Made Millions in European Fake Police Scam (bretbart, Dec 9, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/09/turkish-led-gang-made-millions-in-european-fake-police-scam/

“An organised gang led by a Turkish national are said to have made millions of euros by disguising themselves as police officers and robbing the elderly in Vienna.

The gang, which has been in operation since 2018, is said to have been led by a 25-year-old Turkish man who is currently wanted on a European-wide arrest warrant.

He and the gang are alleged to have scoured phone books for residents in Vienna who sound elderly, and then post as police officers to gain trust and access.

The fake police officer then tells the victims their valuables are at risk and that the officer will visit them and “store” their jewellery and other items, Kronen Zeitung reports.

According to Austrian police, the gang was able to determine how much cash and valuables their victims had simply by speaking to them on the phone and gave strict instructions on how to hand over the victim’s property.

Many of the victims have stated afterwards that they were put under intense psychological pressure by the gang and were also subjected to threats by them as well.

Similar scams have been seen in other European countries in recent years as well such as France where fraudsters handed out fraudulent fines for mask wearers, most of whom were Chinese nationals, earlier this year.

The fraudsters claimed to be enforcing France’s laws regarding the Islamic veil in February against Chinese students wearing medical masks.

Scams have increased greatly during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic according to the European police agency Europol who noted in April that organised criminals were adapting to the coronavirus measure s imposed by European governments.

More recently, the international police coordination agency Interpol stated that organised gangs could even attempt to sell fraudulent vaccines to the public as governments roll out the first wave of vaccinations against the Wuhan coronavirus.”

  25. Chinese Professor Reveals Plot in Shock Video: US Elites and China Have Teamed Up to Take Control Of America
    [excerpts]
From very early on in his presidential campaign, President Trump would always frame the Chinese threat in these terms. … [H}e doesn’t blame China for doing what is best for the Chinese – he blames the stupid, weak, and corrupt leaders of the U.S. for letting them do it….

The problem with China, then, isn’t really a problem with China at all. It’s a problem with our own unworthy and illegitimate ruling class.… stupid, corrupt, dysfunctional, and parasitic. If China disappeared, they would simply be selling the country out to India, or Saudi Arabia, or Vietnam, or some other rising country….

The coronavirus is a perfect example. Perhaps China is at fault in many ways for the virus. But even assuming the virus was concocted in a Chinese lab at the direction of President Xi himself…

[W]e must remember that the Chinese didn’t force our media to lie … force our American tech companies to censor…. force the devastating and unnecessary lockdowns .…

Our own leaders did that to aggrandize and empower themselves, and no matter how defiantly we use the term “China virus” we should never forget that. Perhaps we would be better served to call it the “Bezos virus.”

Unfortunately, many of Trump’s would be imitators… have not followed the President’s wise approach in framing the China problem principally in terms of the failure of our own ruling class. Instead, you hear morality tales about oppression of Uighurs, complaints that Chinese are “racists” that exploit third-world nations, and re-hashed Cold War rhetoric…

Even rhetorically, when conservatives point fingers at China in ways that reinforce left-wing narratives, this neither strengthens their political position nor the position of the United States relative to China in the long run in any serious way. Any framing of the China problem that does not look at the issue through the prism of an utterly degenerate, illegitimate, corrupt and dysfunctional American ruling-class is bound to fail.…

  27. YouTube to Delete Content Alleging Presidential Election Fraud

YouTube announced that from Dec. 9 it will block and remove content that contains statements “alleging widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of a historical U.S. presidential election.”

The Google-owned firm said that it was because the “safe harbor” deadline on Dec. 8 in the presidential election had passed, claiming that “enough states have certified their election results.”

However, there are still outstanding legal challenges, including one in the Supreme Court, that could change the outcome of the election. YouTube’s statement made no mention of these, and it made no mention of the Dec. 14 Electoral College vote date.

The Epoch Times has not declared a winner of the election.

But according to the San Bruno, California-based company, “We will start removing any piece of content uploaded today (or anytime after) that misleads people by alleging that widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, in line with our approach towards historical U.S. presidential elections.”

The number of members of Congress who will commit to challenging the results of the Nov. 3 election during the upcoming joint session is expected to grow.

“There’s three of us that have publicly said that we will refuse to certify Electoral College votes for Joe Biden, and I definitely have a very strong feeling that there will be more of us,” Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told The Epoch Times.

“The number will grow, you’ll see the number will grow, because I’m talking to a lot of people. Seventy-five million Americans voted for President Trump, and right now 70 percent of that number feel that that the election was stolen, and that fraud has taken place, and we know that we have big problems here in Georgia. So I think this is definitely something the American people will be supporting us in our efforts.”

  28. Trump on Election Battles: Legislators, Judges Need ‘Courage’ to Do What’s Right
    By Zachary Stieber

President Donald Trump on Tuesday wondered if lawmakers or judges have the courage to help him challenge election results in key battleground states.

“Let’s see whether or not somebody has the courage—whether it’s a legislator or legislatures, or whether it’s a justice of the Supreme Court or a number of justices of the Supreme Court. Let’s see if they have the courage to do what everybody in this country knows is right,” Trump told a press conference in Washington during a summit on COVID-19 vaccines.

Trump and other Republicans have filed a flurry of legal challenges in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and other states where the margin between him and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was close. None have so far prompted a change to the results.

Two other cases are pending in the Supreme Court: the state of Texas filed a major case on Tuesday, and a group of Pennsylvania Republicans are planning to file a writ of certiorari, their lawyer told The Epoch Times, after the court rejected a request to block the certification of election results in the state.
