Chinese Consulate in Houston Intervened in US Political Movement
Radio Free Asia (RFA) published an article explaining the reason that the U.S. closed China’s Consulate in Houston.
The article stated that the U.S. has known that the staff members at the consulate were conducting suspicious activities, but, for a while, it did not take any action. The Second Department of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), which is the PLA’s intelligence unit, sent staff members from a large network company, with fake IDs, to China’s Consulate in Houston. Those technicians used a large video platform’s backend data to identify people who might participate in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and ANTIFA’s protests and then created and sent them customized videos on how to organize riots and how to do promotions.
The purpose was to “weaponize” big data technology. It delivered relevant materials precisely to those people who were most likely to participate in the protests, while other people could not even find those videos.
RFA did not spell out the company names. A Twitter account said the technicians were from Huawei and the video platform they used to identify candidates and push videos to was TikTok.

“Iraq’s parliament ordered US forces to withdraw from the country in January, following the drone strike assassination of a senior Iranian commander in Baghdad. On Thursday, in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, US President Donald Trump promised that US forces would be leaving the country “shortly.”
US forces in Iraq have formally handed the Coalition-occupied area of Camp Taji, central Iraq back to Iraqi security forces, with the handover ceremony signed Sunday, the Coalition has said in a statement.
Describing the withdrawal from the facility as a move which allows the anti-Daesh* Coalition to “shift its focus and role,” the Coalition said that “the movement of…military personnel is part of a long-range plan coordinated with the Government of Iraq.”
“This is truly a historic day,” Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve deputy commander Maj. Gen. Kenneth Ekman said of the move. “For the past six years, Camp Taji has served as a primary installation for Coalition partners to train the Iraqi Army, Iraqi Air Force, and the Qwat al-Khasah. The Coalition’s efforts have enabled the Iraqis to train themselves. From this day forward, [the Iraqi Security Forces] will take full responsibilities for the facilities and programs at Taji and continue to use the site to lead and conduct training as part of the mission to defeat Daesh remnants.”
The withdrawal includes the exit of 300 US troops and contractors, and the handover of $347 million in structures and equipment to the Iraqi side, including over 90 million rounds of ammunition.
Sunday’s ceremony follows a string of rocket attacks against the Taji base in recent months, with projectiles repeatedly fired into the facility by Baghdad government-allied Shia militia forces in the wake of the January 3, 2020 assassination of Iranian Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani at Baghdad’s international airport.
This week, several militias within Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) threatened to attack US positions throughout Iraq should Baghdad fail to negotiate a withdrawal of the foreign forces. “If an agreement on the expulsion of US forces from Iraq is not concluded in Washington, we reserve the right to target America’s interests in Iraq,” the militias warned.
Roughly 47,000 Iraqi Security Forces personnel have been trained at the Taji base, with the facility situated about 30 km outside Baghdad. At one point, the base contained as many as 2,000 Coalition troops. The Camp Taji facility is the eighth Coalition base to be handed back to the Iraqi side in recent months.
On Thursday, in a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, President Trump reiterated to reporters that the US would be leaving Iraq “shortly.”
“We have been taking our troops out of Iraq fairly rapidly, and we look forward to the day when we don’t have to be there,” Trump said, without giving an exact timetable on withdrawal.
An estimated 5,200 US troops remain in Iraq. The US invaded Iraq 2003 and briefly left in 2011 before returning in 2014 to help Baghdad fight Daesh. Tensions between Coalition forces and the PMU escalated dramatically after the assassination of Soleimani, who was responsible for coordinating Iranian assistance to the militias for their fight against the terrorists. Soon after the Iranian commander’s death, the Iraqi parliament ordered US forces to withdraw from the country.

Home Secretary Priti Patel has vowed to dismantle networks bringing people illegally into the UK as the Channel migrants crisis grows with 11 boats carrying 164 people arriving on Wednesday.
A further 41 migrants were rescued from four boats and returned to France after they got into difficulty soon after leaving.
The dangers were exposed on Wednesday when Sudanese migrant Abdulfatah Hamdallah, 28, who attempted the crossing in a tiny dinghy, was found drowned on the French coast. Last October 39 Vietnamese people died in a locked refrigerated container which was brought across the channel on a freight ship.
As the Home Office and National Crime Agency (NCA) seek to track down and disrupt the gangs, our probe shows many major players live in the UK.
Countries including France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia and Albania have all sought traffickers hiding in the UK this year.
On Thursday, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard the case of Afghan Narinder Singh Khatari, 48, from Hounslow, who was wanted by The Netherlands for facilitating unauthorised entry and residence.
His extradition proceedings were ended after the court heard he had died and a death certificate was filed. Hashem Saleh Bazlah appeared at the same court on Wednesday. The 32-year-old from Leamington Spa, had been arrested on a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) and remanded in custody.
He is wanted in France for the smuggling of migrants, human trafficking and money laundering and the case was adjourned.
Alp Mehmet, chairman of Migration Watch, said: “This is shocking, and another sign of how lax immigration control has become. “I shudder to think of how many dangerous criminals have taken, and will take, advantage of our ever looser asylum system.
“My question to the Government is, when will you take back control, as you promised?” Freddy Nika, 47, was arrested in Edgware, north London, in December on another EAW issued by France.
The Albanian came to the UK in 1999, claiming to be a refugee from the Kosovan War, and was granted asylum.
He was convicted of people smuggling offences in his absence in France in June 2019 and sentenced to five years in jail. Westminster Magistrates were told the French court found he was the head of an Albanian crime gang that got migrants into France before smuggling them into the UK in lorries at £8,000 to £9,000 per person.
The court heard between February and April 2016, Nika was in charge of at least 11 illegal crossings and attempts.
He denied being involved in people smuggling and claimed someone must have stolen his identity. District judge Nina Tempia said he should be extradited and could apply for a retrial in France.
Vietnamese crime head Chan Khan is also being sent to France to serve eight years for trafficking nationals from his homeland.
He entered the UK illegally in 2012, but failed to get asylum. However, he was given temporary leave to remain until 2021. He was arrested in January in Bexhill, East Sussex, and was also wanted by the NCA.
The trafficking allegedly took place from 2015 until May 2017 in Paris, Dunkirk and Grande Synthe, in France, the UK and Vietnam. Khan denied being the wanted person, giving another name.
In a judgement ordering his extradition, judge Michael Snow wrote: “The requested person was found to be one of the main organisers of a Vietnamese illegal immigration network.
“He was heard to order the reprimand of a migrant, he was also heard to discuss guards of the migrant storage places.”
Many others are hoping extradition requests will be refused. Iraqi Saman Taha Ahmed, 30, is wanted in Belgium for allegedly heading a network smuggling people into the UK in HGVs.
He is remanded in custody ahead of an extradition hearing. He was arrested with British girlfriend Jemma Killoran, 36, in Slough, Berks, and she is also fighting extradition and has been bailed.
NCA head of organised immigration crime operations, Steve Reynolds, said: “The criminal networks involved in people smuggling are ruthless, treating migrants as a commodity to be profited from and exploiting their desperation.
“We are determined to do all we can to disrupt and dismantle these networks.”
A spokesman for the Home Office, led by Priti Patel, said: “We are targeting the abhorrent criminals, people smugglers and organised crime gangs facilitating migrants travelling through Europe into the UK.
“This year we have jailed 24 people smugglers.
“We are working to dissolve their networks, by disrupting their operations and seizing their illicit assets which includes almost £400,000 last month.””

Fearful of being denied a fair share of the region’s bountiful natural gas wealth, Turkey sent a research vessel and a small navy armada into seas Greece views as its own, dramatically escalating tensions last week.
In a sign of the growing importance he assigns energy independence, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday announced that Turkey had made its biggest-ever discovery of natural gas in the Black Sea.
“My Lord has opened the door to unprecedented wealth for us,” he enthused to applause from a hall filled with supportive officials.
But the new find has done little to abate Turkey’s desire to expand ever deeper into the Mediterranean Sea, which has won Erdogan political points at home but infuriated Greece and drawn repeated warnings from the European Union.
France, already at odds with Turkey over Libya and parts of the Middle East, sent in its own ships into the region to help out Greece, prompting Erdogan to warn he would retaliate against any attack.
The issue was not just about “fighting for rights but for Turkey’s future,” Erdogan said.
– The ‘Blue Homeland’ doctrine –
Critics say the “Blue Homeland” doctrine (“Mavi Vatan” in Turkish) is the latest example of Turkey resorting to disruption to coerce others into achieving what it wants.
But Turkish officials and former admirals responsible for the policy argue Greece’s demands based on a scattering of tiny islands are unfair since Turkey has larger mainland territory in the eastern part of the sea.
The doctrine’s author is retired admiral Cem Gurdeniz, who first used the “Mavi Vatan” term in 2006 when he was head of the Turkish navy’s plan and policy division.
His vision covers more than 460,000 square kilometres (175,000 square miles) of Turkey’s maritime borders, including the water surrounding some Greek islands, and has grown in prominence in parallel with rising Turkish nationalism.
“Blue Homeland is a symbol of the ‘maritimisation’ of Turkey,” Gurdeniz told AFP, a concept which “tries to define maritime jurisdiction areas surrounding Turkey.”
Gurdeniz said Turkey needed to secure these areas for its welfare, defence, security, “even for its happiness”.
– Bargaining chip –
The lack of agreed maritime borders between Turkey and Greece, or Turkey and Cyprus, turned into a much bigger problem with the discovery of major hydrocarbon reserves in the eastern Mediterranean in the past decade.
“The delimitation of exclusive economic zones (EEZ) in the Aegean and east Med is a matter that most governments of the region have deliberately neglected,” said Muzaffer Senel, an associate professor at Istanbul’s Sehir University.
“Because it is an issue more difficult to solve and its political costs are too high.”
Mavi Vatan is “a bargaining chip for Ankara,” he said.
“By serving this map, Ankara declares its position in the negotiations.”
While countries with coastlines can claim an EEZ, so can islands.
Felicity Attard, an international maritime law specialist, said this “makes the Turkish-Greek position extremely complex, particularly because of the location of the islands and the longstanding rivalry between the two states.”
She added that the dispute was compounded by the difference of policy between the two countries with respect to Cyprus, divided since 1974 between the Greek Cypriot-controlled south and the breakaway Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
There is particular anger over Greece’s insistence that the tiny island of Kastellorizo, two kilometres (1.2 miles) from Antalya, should have the same rights as Turkey’s entire coast.
– ‘Volatile situation’ –
Turkey is isolated in the region, which experts say is in part why Erdogan is lashing out and insisting on Turkey’s rights against countries joining forces without Ankara.
Last year Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Italy and the Palestinian territories agreed to create the “East Mediterranean Gas Forum” without Turkey.
Greece and Turkey held “exploratory talks” between 2002 and 2016 related to the Aegean Sea but they came to an end at the request of Athens, a Turkish diplomatic source said.
Turkey says Erdogan made efforts to renew the talks with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and at the NATO summit in London last year.
“Greece didn’t accept these offers and instead used the EU against Turkey. This isn’t right,” a Turkish official told AFP.
A maritime agreement Turkey signed with Libya in November exacerbated tensions after it set up sea boundaries that Greece said overlooked its island of Crete.
A Western diplomat called the situation “volatile”, warning that “any miscalculation could have serious consequences.”
But Erdogan “is pragmatic and knows that extended tensions would not be good,” the diplomat told AFP, pointing to the risk of any Western sanctions hurting the already weak lira.
Yet retired admiral Gurdeniz sounded defiant.
“Even if Turkey is alone in this fight” and even if sanctions are imposed, he said, “Turkey will not give up.””

Mahmood, 36, claimed nearly £100,000 in state benefits over a five-year period in the name of her aunt and uncle even though they were ineligible to receive the handouts as they were living in Pakistan.
But despite admitting to four counts of failing to disclose information to make a gain and one count of fraud before the Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, Mahmood will avoid jail time after being given a suspended sentence. She will merely have to attend a 15-day programme to educate her on the law at a cost of £1,500.
The convicted fraudster claimed in the trial that she was unaware that claiming benefits for people living outside of the country was illegal and her lawyer argued that “she lacks skills in understanding how to live in society as a responsible adult,” adding that Mahmood would “benefit from programmes to help her understand these are not victimless offences”.
Judge Angela Nield told Mahmood: “In your case the sums of money were significant and the offending took place over a lengthy period.”
“The benefits system is there to support vulnerable families and when that system and you especially should realise that because you are a carer for vulnerable people yourself. When the system is abused it can take a very significant period of time before that comes to light if it ever does,” Judge Nield said.
“When it does the overpayment can be impossible for the full amount to be repaid and those sums of money are then not available to those who make genuine claims,” she added.
The judge said that in light of Mahmood being a mother to eight children and that she takes care of two vulnerable adults, she said that she “somewhat reluctantly” decided to not send her to prison.
“Foster care and hospital care both come at significant public expense. I accept you are genuinely remorseful and social workers say your family are disciplined and well-mannered and it seems to me there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation in your case. I have somewhat reluctantly concluded that I can suspend your sentence,” the judge said.”
Can you disagree with the judge? It would be more to imprison a mother of eight and care for the children. Perhaps deporting the family is another option if they have dual citizenship.

President Trump is expected to hold a press conference Sunday evening regarding a major therapeutic “breakthrough” for treating COVID-19, the White House said late Saturday night.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted:
“News conference with President @realDonaldTrump at 6 pm tomorrow concerning a major therapeutic breakthrough on the China Virus. Secretary Azar and Dr. Hahn will be in attendance,” McEnany tweeted.
The press conference comes as the president on Saturday morning suggested the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was ‘deliberately’ slowing down clinical trials for therapeutics and vaccines for coronavirus.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to the president’s comments, calling them “dangerous:”
“This was a very dangerous statement on the part of the president,” Pelosi said.
“Even for him, it went beyond the pale in terms of how he would jeopardize the health and well-being of the American people.”

Anti-fascists protesters met with a bigger far-right rally in Nottingham town centre on Saturday.
The two opposite crowds filled Old Market Square as a large number of police officers were called in to keep the groups separated. Animosity could be seen between activists from the two sides.

So if we organise and get behind our unions we can achieve this thing and, again, it’s jobs, homes and better services,” said a protester from the Socialist Party who joined the anti-fascism rally.
The protests disrupted the traffic and brought the city centre to a standstill in the middle of the afternoon, according to local reports.
Nottinghamshire Police said there had been no arrests and later thanked members of the public for protesting peacefully.

The College Fix reports that a subcommittee within the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), which is itself part of the National Council of Teachers of English, is demanding that American teachers “abolish standard English” (aka, “White Mainstream English”). One question: Isn’t referring to the English currently used in classrooms as “standard” a concession to the fact that the alternative they are militating on behalf of is non– or substandard?

Hundreds of ‘Yellow Vest’ protesters took to the streets of Paris on Saturday in a new round of anti-government demonstrations.
The protesters were seen marching, holding flags and banners and chanting slogans, while police were seen patrolling around the demonstration.
“There is no democracy in France, it’s just make-believe,” said Andre, one of the protesters. “Democracy, by definition, means there need to be elections, but ministers are not elected.”
Mr Valentine, another protester, said, “We’re seeing the government brutalising the return to school, with 12 million children who will suffer social distancing, who will suffer isolation. We have a big problem in our society, the word ‘liberty’ is being tarnished.”
The ‘Yellow Vests’ movement began as a grassroots citizen protest in November 2018 and quickly spread across France. It started as a protest against a proposed fuel tax but later turned into a wider movement against the status quo.

‘Intolerable’ 100,000 Christians murdered for their faith in Nigeria, report claims (express, Aug 23, 2020)

“A MAJOR new report has demanded that a new sanctions program is aimed at individuals and organisations in Nigeria to end Christian persecution.
It has warned that the situation is “intolerable” with claims that almost 100,000 Christians have been murdered for their faith in the west african state in the first two decades of this century.
The report, co-authored by The International Organisation for Peace Building and Social Justice (PSJ UK), the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) and the International Freedom of Religion or Belief All Party Parliamentary Group claims that over the past 20 years Nigeria has suffered more violent incidents and deaths compared to the rest of the combined West Africa region.
It has noted that a combination of Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, Fulani Militants and other extremist groups have been responsible for the murders of more than 96,000 Christians, according to a new report in almost 21,000 separate attacks.
The report has also included polling from Savanta ComRes suggesting that the UK public supports decisive action to address these horrifying statistics.
Three in five UK adults say in the survey that they support imposing sanctions on individuals who have been held responsible for human rights abuses.
And the report has recommended that this could be part of the UK’s new Magnitsky sanctions program.
The poll shows that two in five (39 percent) UK adults expect the UK to speak out against violence towards Christians in Nigeria while more than half want foreign aid linked to protecting Christian minorities.
There is also strong support for military intervention in Nigeria. A majority (53 percent) of those surveyed supported calling on the UN to send peacekeeping forces to intervene in the crisis, and a quarter of those surveyed believed that direct military intervention from the UK would help solve this crisis.
Ayo Adedoyin, Chief Executive of PSJ UK, said: “This situation cannot be tolerated. Tens of thousands of Christians have been murdered in Nigeria and many thousands more have been subjected to vicious assault.
“The British government must do more to support Nigerian Christians and should apply sanctions to the members of the Nigerian government that are, at best, turning a blind eye to this ongoing catastrophe.”
According to the report 43,242 of the Christian deaths as a result of the terrorism inflicted by Boko Haram, Islamic State, ISWAP and Al-Queda; 18,834 as a result of the terrorism inflicted by Fulani Militant Extremists; and 34,233 as a result of the terrorism inflicted by all other actors.
Based on data collected between 2000-2019, deaths resulting from Fulani Militant attacks include 17,284 across Nigeria and 13,079 in predominantly Christian states (Benue, Kaduna, Plateau, and Taraba).
That means three of every four Fulani Militant victims during this time were Christians

An assignment given to students at a Texas school included a political cartoon comparing police officers to slave owners and Klu Klux Klan members, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
The cartoon reportedly depicted five scenes, allegedly starting with a slave ship officer who was kneeling on a black man’s neck and ended with a police officer kneeling on a black man’s neck with text saying “I can’t breathe,” the Star-tribune reported.
The assignment was reportedly given to social studies students at Cooper Junior High within the Wylie Independent School District, to the north of Dallas.

COPS are hunting for a covidiot said to be giving strangers hugs and telling them “you now have COVID” in a Massachusetts Walmart.
“He told the victim, ‘Just giving you a COVID hug. You now have COVID,’” officers with the Springfield Police Department said in a press release.
Cops said that the victim, who is a cancer survivor, reported the man to cops and said that he took items out of their hands and hugged them before walking away laughing.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, is pictured wearing a black face mask, an Aero shirt and camouflage shorts.
The incident occurred on Aug. 15, but he had also given out hugs to other customers, cops said.
Police are seeking to bring the man in on charges for assault and battery and making terroristic threats, masslive(dot)com reported.
Throughout the pandemic, numerous accounts have been reported of people doing alarming things while claiming to have the coronavirus.

Iran: Country’s “largest flag” hoisted in Tehran to mark Muharram
A 147-metres (482 feet) tall flag was was unveiled in Tehran on Thursday, to mark the beginning of the holy Islamic month of Muharram.
The flag – reported to be the tallest of its kind in Iran – was devoted to Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam, was raised in Taleghani Park during a ceremony attended by Tehran mayor Pirouz Hanachi.
The flag will be hoisted over the month of Muharram. It was seen flying in the wind on Friday.
Muharram is considered to be the sacred month in Islam, as it marks the start of the lunar calendar which Muslims follow.
It was during Muharram that Prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina.
The 10th day of the holy month is known as Ashura, which is mourned by Shia Muslims in honour of the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Hussain Ibn Ali.

BERLIN: Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is in a stable condition after arriving in Berlin by air ambulance on Saturday following a suspected poisoning, the German NGO that chartered the flight told AFP.
“Navalny’s condition is stable,” said Jaka Bizilj, the head of the Cinema for Peace NGO after the flight touched down at Berlin’s Tegel airport.
The air ambulance landed at 8:47 am local time (0647 GMT) at the military wing of Tegel airport after a day-long standoff over his medical evacuation.
His spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh confirmed the landing, tweeting that “the plane with Alexei just landed in Berlin”.
Ambulances seen at the airport were expected to transfer him to Berlin’s Charite hospital for treatment.
The 44-year-old lawyer and anti-corruption campaigner, one of President Vladimir Putin’s fiercest critics, went into a coma after falling suddenly ill Thursday on a plane to Moscow that had to make an emergency landing in Omsk.
Aides say they believe Navalny was poisoned, apparently by a cup of tea at the airport, and blamed Putin, though Russian doctors said tests showed no trace of any poison.
Doctors treating him in Omsk had refused to let Navalny leave but reversed course after his family and staff demanded he be allowed to travel to Germany.
As the plane left Omsk at around 8:00 am local time (0200 GMT), Navalny’s wife Yulia posted a picture on Instagram of him being carried on a covered stretcher and thanked supporters for their “persistence”.
“Without your support, we wouldn’t have been able to take him!” she wrote.
The ambulance arrived at the Omsk Emergency Hospital No. 1 early Saturday and masked medics put Navalny inside on a stretcher.
Russian doctors have said he is in a coma and breathing through a ventilator in a grave state.
They have said tests did not find any trace of poison, however, that Navalny appeared to have a “metabolic disorder” and to have suffered a sharp drop in blood sugar levels.
The regional interior ministry said police detected an industrial chemical after swabbing Navalny and his luggage, although doctors said this would not have caused his condition.
The air ambulance arrived in Omsk on Friday morning but Russian doctors initially said Navalny was too “unstable” to be moved.
They announced on Friday evening they had agreed to let him be transferred after German doctors examined him and the Cinema for Peace foundation said they were “willing and able” to transport him to Berlin.
The turnaround also followed a letter from Navalny’s wife with a direct appeal to Putin and after aides asked the European Court of Human Rights to intervene with the Russian government.
Navalny is the latest in a long line of Kremlin critics who have fallen seriously ill or died in apparent poisonings.
His wife told journalists that she wanted Navalny to be “in an independent hospital, whose doctors we trust”.
Yarmysh tweeted that “the battle for Alexei’s life and health is just beginning… but at least now we’ve taken the first step.”
The air ambulance was dispatched to take Navalny to Berlin after Chancellor Angela Merkel extended an offer of treatment.
European Union leaders including Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron have voiced concern for Navalny, who has faced repeated physical attacks and prosecutions in more than a decade of opposition to Russian authorities.
Navalny lost consciousness shortly after his plane took off on Thursday from Tomsk in Siberia, where he was working to support opposition candidates ahead of regional elections next month.
Yarmysh said he had seemed “absolutely fine” before boarding the flight and had only consumed a cup of tea at the airport.
She said she was sure he had suffered from an “intentional poisoning” and blamed Putin.
She also claimed Russia’s refusal to evacuate Navalny was a ploy to “play for time” and make it impossible to trace poison, posing a “critical threat to his life”.
Navalny has made many enemies with his anti-corruption investigations, which often reveal the lavish lifestyles of Russia’s elite and attract millions of views online.
He is the latest in a long line of Kremlin critics who have fallen seriously ill or died in apparent poisonings.
The director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation that Navalny founded, Ivan Zhdanov, confirmed on social media that the organisation was “continuing its work”.
Many supporters expressed relief he was going for treatment outside Russia.
“I feel as relieved now as if terrorists had freed a hostage after long negotiations,” fellow opposition politician Ilya Yashin tweeted, criticising the delay in Navalny’s departure.
“I want to believe that this wasted time won’t cost Alexei his life.”

“Top aides to presidential candidate Joe Biden have apologised to Arab and Muslim Democrats over an attack on Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour by the campaign, in an effort to quell anger over the controversy.
In a private call with dozens of prominent activists on Sunday, Ashley Allison, national coalitions director for the Biden campaign, said she was “sorry” for the comments that a campaign spokesman made against Sarsour.
Top foreign policy adviser Tony Blinken also expressed “regret” over the incident during the virtual meeting.
Anger erupted after a Biden campaign spokesman had condemned Sarsour and suggested that she was antisemitic over her criticism of Israel.
Allison said she empathised with “the pain” that the campaign had caused to Arabs and Muslims by disavowing Sarsour.
“I am sorry that that happened. And I hope that whatever trust was broken, that this conversation is one small step to help build back the trust, but that is not the last time we have this conversation,” Allison told the activists.

“Turkish security forces have neutralized at least three terrorists in an air-backed operation in southern Turkey, the Interior Ministry said Saturday.
The terrorists were neutralized as part of Operation Yildirim-5 in rural areas of Hatay province’s Mt. Amanos, it said in a statement.
Gendarmerie forces seized three M-16 rifles and ammunition as part of the ongoing operation, it added.
Turkish authorities often use the term “neutralized” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
The affiliation of the terrorists was not expressly given, but the terrorist PKK has been active in the region.
Turkey has launched a series of security operations to neutralize terrorists believed to be sheltering in the country’s eastern and southeastern regions.

Yet in just four years, Lenin’s communist regime carried out at least thirty times as many death sentences, not counting hundreds of thousands murdered in extrajudicial killings. Despite this, support for the Soviets in the West grew as left-wing groups mobilized to help the Bolsheviks abroad and imitate their success at home.

“At least two people were killed in ethnic clashes in Ivory Coast following President Alassane Ouattara’s controversial announcement he would run for a third term, a hospital source and local residents said Sunday.
Young opposition supporters on Saturday took to the streets to voice loud and violent protest in several major cities, especially the southern cocoa growing hub of Divo, after Ouattara accepted his party’s nomination for the October poll.
“One person evacuated to the regional hospital succumbed to their injuries and died this morning,” said a hospital source in Divo, adding that “several were badly wounded with machetes”.
Several local people also said they had seen the body of a teenager killed in a fire in a local bar.
Ouattara was officially anointed as candidate by his ruling RHDP despite having already served two terms — the maximum permitted under the constitution — since 2010.
He had planned to hand the reins to prime minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, but his presumed successor died of a heart attack in July.
Six people had already died in violence following Ouattara’s August 6 announcement that he would run again, while 100 were hurt.
The president and his supporters say a 2016 constitutional tweak has reset the clock on the two-term limit.
“Going back on my decision was not easy” but “there is nothing preventing me from standing,” Ouattara said Saturday.
‘Armed with machetes and clubs’
Saturday’s violence in Divo saw a bus station, bars and shops set on fire and looted, MP Famoussa Coulibay told AFP, while barricades were set up and tyres burned in former president Laurent Gbagbo’s hometown of Gagnoa.
Election authorities on Friday rejected an appeal by Gbagbo as well as former rebel leader Guillaume Soro to be allowed to run in October.

China: Wuhan waterpark partygoers “not worried at all” about COVID-19 anymore
Large numbers of partygoers were seen at Playa Maya Water Park in Wuhan on Saturday night, gathering in pools and enjoying music, months after the Chinese city was the first to go on lockdown at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Life has gradually been returning to normal since the city lifted its stringent 76-day lockdown in early April. Wuhan hasn’t reported any cases since mid-May and locals attending the nightly parties seem to have stopped worrying about the spread locally.
“Because Wuhan did citywide coronavirus mass testing, we are not worried at all. And I also heard that (the local health authority) would run the coronavirus tests in random public areas, and all the test results are negative. So we are not worried at all,” stated one local partygoer.
“I trust my country’s ability in fighting the virus. Wuhan’s coronavirus condition is now under good control, and I believe it’s going to get better and better,” said another partygoer.
