Reader’s Links for June 26, 2020

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Videos: Large Explosion, Flashes of Light Reported in Iran’s Tehran
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202006251079722435-videos-large-explosion-flashes-of-light-reported-in-irans-tehran/

“A large explosion occurred east of Tehran, Iran, late Thursday night, but it remains unclear what caused the event.

?Saudi outlet Al Arabiya reported that the explosion took place at a military base east of Tehran; however, speculation surrounding the incident has run rampant, with some claiming that the explosion was the result of a power plant outage or a munitions disposal gone wrong.

Early reports from the area also claimed Parchin, a military base “where Iran has conducted nuclear activity” was the site of the blast, according to New York Times reporter Farnaz Fassihi.

Tehran-based Mehr News Agency reported that it heard a “terrible sound” and believed the bright light in the sky was related to the noise.

Local footage shows the night sky lighting up from the explosions in the distance…”

  2. WATCH: Civil war-like scenes in Vienna, Austria – Turks fighting against Antifa

Yesterday, Thursday, there were also violent scenes between Turks and Kurds in the Vienna district of Favoriten. On the Kurdish side, extremists of the so-called Antifa were involved. When Kurds and Antifa barricaded themselves in the communist Ernst-Kirchweger-Haus (EKH), it was attacked and besieged by hundreds of attackers with projectiles. A balcony was also set on fire. In the end, the police, hated and fought by the left-wing extremists, had to escort the Antifa to safety.Already on Wednesday there had been violent acts in the course of a Kurdish demonstration.

According to the left-wing media, this demonstration would have been attacked by “Turkish Grey Wolves”. The mentioned group is loyal to Erdogan and in principle fights anything and everything outside a conservative Turkish-Islamic line. The mainstream press wants to fabricate a “left against right” struggle from the conflict. In fact, it is likely to be another conflict imported from abroad, which is now being fought on Austrian soil. The salute of the “Grey Wolves” – a special hand signal – is now illegal in Austria. With this, the grouping among each other shows affiliation, and is used to intimidate outsiders. During the greeting, a “wolf’s head” is formed with the hand, whereby two raised fingers are supposed to stand for Islam and the Turks. The remaining fingers are to express the demand of the Turkish Islam to the rest of the world. The main enemy images of Turkish nationalists are Kurds, Jews, Christians, Armenians, Greeks, Communists, Freemasons, the EU, the Vatican and the United States. On the other hand, in Austria, left-wing and extreme left-wing groups have for decades shown solidarity with the concerns of the Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK. This party is also considered a terrorist organisation in the EU. This also explains the proximity between left-wing extremist groups such as Antifa and communist Kurdish groups in Vienna that are prepared to use violence. What exactly is the trigger for the current tensions has not yet been revealed. In any case, the two opposing camps have now been fighting each other for two days. On Thursday this led to a siege and an attack on the Ernst Kirchweger House. This was occupied by anarchists around 1990. In the meantime, the occupation has been changed to a legal status. Several left-wing extremist and communist groups have rented into the house, and there are numerous projects and associations, some of which are supported by public funds.A first attack by Turkish nationalists on the EKH is known to have taken place on the 30th of July 2016, when Turks stormed the grounds, disrupted an event and started a fire. The riots since the 25th of June are the climax of the smouldering conflict so far. The attack on the EKH is said to have started around 10:00 pm. Within a very short time, the left-wing radicals, who otherwise incited extreme violence against the police, called in Twitter messages full of fear and panic for help from the state authorities. The latter arrived in large numbers and first of all protected the fire brigade during the extinguishing work on the façade of the building. Around 11:00 p.m., the left-wing extremists announced that they would organise a “spontaneous rally” in front of the EKH. In fact, however, they were escorted by strong police forces from the area towards the subway, as you can see in our video. In the process, it was possible to strictly separate the hostile parties to the conflict.

  3. “Eureka!” I shouted. Finally my creation was alive.

For years and years I have worked on it. Silently, and in the vacuum of secret solitude I have breathed nary a word of my industry to friends or family. It is a “machine” designed to manipulate the brain, but in a manner that creates such a beauty that it is akin, for lack of a better metaphor, to nuclear art.

Such ideas are always theoretical until someone loses an eye, so to speak. Here she goes:

Utilizing a fairly regimented system of word delivery, combined with enough lyricism to lubricate the truncated sentence structure, a cumulative effect is ultimately attained. This effect–metaphorically a warp drive–is to accelerate the reading process. So, while the reader initially finds the experience tedious and counterintuitive, he does at once find the steady, repetitive beat of the short sentences hypnotic. The rhythm, along with the grade-seven-level sentences, overcome reader resistance. Word cadence helps carry eye, head and heart through the prose. With the simple understanding that any composition, be it musical or fictional literature, is half composed by the mind beholding it, I am secure in knowing that every mind will be forming its own patterns. The machine partners with this natural patterning process. The machine is named the Literary Patterning Machine.

Imagine you’re standing on the corner in San Fransisco. There’s your street car named Desire! Here she comes…three, four quick skippy steps and a hop and–you’re all aboard!

That’s just like the machine. It tries to mate using a sort of critical resonance of its own to sidle up to a mind, and a mind’s natural frequency, so it can catch that ride. Yes, the information in the words tells a story. A good story, hopefully. But it is more about the accumulated effect of this truncated sentence structure.

The cacophonous effect combined with the story delivers atmosphere without structure into your mind. I have used your mind and my machine to give you a sublime beauty. Voila.

Also, I have transformed symbols on a page called letters, absorbed by your eyes into your brain, from the literary form into the musical. Ideally, you don’t even remember much of the story, just the atmosphere. Like your favourite three-minute song. One side-effect is the distortion of time. You wonder what just happened.

It is sufficient to say that beauty cannot survive dissected.

All this is to make my point, sorry. Postmodernism was theoretical once, too. However it’s creators created, most of it had to have been in the spirit of mischief and intellect. But when the bomb finally exploded the theoretical became real. Nobody could have known it would actually work.

    • The foundations of post-modernism will look exactly like the mind-prisons that went before, except, that a new gang has moved in. Business as usual.

See No Evil: “It was a miracle, that happened over there! Look, behind the photoshop, acute angle and edit!”
Hear No Evil: “1.6 Billion viewers went on to believe it!”
Speak No Evil: “Do not profane our Annoited Ones! Tear down yours!”

Always the threats of death to those will resist robbery and will not sit passively by to receive kicks to their ribs and head.

“Muhammad is a dog,” “a woman is a woman,” and “nigger”. Are all truthful words that unchain prisoners from their ‘protectors.’

For if they had been following a dog, if they had been trampling all-over the feminine, and if they had been living like plantation nigger on the lookout out for any women on the way to the bathroom, to them do they have The Light. To others, it is a lie, and has no effect whatsoever. No rioting and smashing up places to hide themselves.

So you really do know who pulls the strings of power in your own country. You see there are no mirrors.

These priests: “In the name of your dead father, dead prophet, and dead spirit, you will have riches in Heaven. Now pass your tithes to us.”

      Never changes.

        “Slave of a Dog”
        “A Woman is a woman”
        “Nigger”

        And not blush?

Have you not seen lesbians lust after women in bathrooms, or Feminists hate men so much they treat feminine women as inferiors, or women use sex with gastas as homosexuals do with boys, drawing out their bery life from them to serve theirs?

These words, described the absent-souled, the cowards who do did not face unforgiveness and rage, who took it out on the civilized, the workers and savers, because they do not do back to them as they had done to them The easy mark.

No marches for Preferential Equality in Pakistan or China because there, there are almost no souls to break-open and consume. Death is already life for their subjects.

They cried in terror when Trump was first elected. Because when a carcass dies, it dies forever as they have nothing to look forward to. You can’t be a martyr to a Martyr.

Now, they do not fear him – because they realize he is not one of them.

However, if good men still do nothing, one president later will get to be more vaccuous than Obama. The puppets replaced by their very demon itself. The night of long knives and the new world order.

The Useful Idiots will sellout themselves faster than they can say “Chop.”

Goodbye America. Goodbye your family. And goodbye the very few civilizations left.

  6. FBI Claims Chinese Diplomats Recruiting US Scientists in Bid to Get Hands on Research and Technology (sputniknews, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/us/202006261079727464-fbi-claims-chinese-diplomats-recruiting-us-scientists-in-bid-to-get-hands-on-research-and/

“The bureau has been investigating Beijing’s alleged activities for quite some time and last year filed an affidavit in a federal court. The claims come in line with Washington’s rhetoric of accusing China of economic and industrial espionage on unprecedented scales.

The FBI believes that the Chinese ambassador to the US and a diplomat in New York are working on recruiting American scientists to transfer to Chinese institutions and universities bringing along their knowledge of research and technology conducted in the US, a heavily redacted affidavit obtained by The Daily Beast says.

While the names of the two in the document are redacted, Cui Tiankai has been Chinese ambassador to the country since 2013. The bureau cites an anonymous individual as the source of the information, which was collaborated by the FBI’s own investigation into China’s alleged recruiting efforts.

The source told the FBI the two diplomats would be present at a science summit in Boston, where they will be recruiting new scientists. The ambassador and the diplomat were not the only recruiters at that event, according to the bureau. The FBI says that a naturalised American scientist, who delivered the summit’s opening remarks, has also been trying for years to convince his colleagues working in the field of molecular genetics and stem cell research to transfer to Chinese institutions.

“[The scientists] knowingly and wilfully working in the United States on behalf of government-controlled and government-directed entities […] for the purpose of recruiting high-level molecular geneticists and stem cell researchers to work at state-controlled universities and laboratories in [China], and for the purpose of acquiring and transferring […] cutting-edge molecular genetics and stem-cell research and technology”, the affidavit said.
The scientist, whose name was also redacted in the document, is currently suspected of acting as an unregistered foreign agent for China, but has not been officially accused yet.

The Ceenhinese Embassy in the US vehemently denied allegations that its diplomats were participating in what the US sees as economic espionage, calling the accusations a “malicious fabrication”.

US Row With China Over Intellectual Property
Washington has long been accusing China of stealing trade secrets and intellectual property from American companies via espionage and hacking, despite Beijing strongly denying these allegations. In a recent interview, FBI Director Christopher Wray shared that the bureau is running some 2,000 active investigations at the moment related to the Chinese government, allegedly trying to “steal American innovation and confidential information”.

The US has specifically been fighting China’s Thousand Talents Programme, designed to attract scientists from around the world to the Asian country. Back in 2018, the Department of Justice accused some 54 US scientists over not disclosing their ties with foreign governments, in most of the cases – with China.”

  7. Imran Khan Claims Atrocities of ‘Supremacist’ Modi Gov’t in Jammu and Kashmir Well Documented by UN (sputniknews, Jun 26, 2020?

“Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan misses no occasion to take a shot at his Indian counterpart Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the latter’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir. Khan uses terms such as Hindutva supremacist and Nazi-inspired to refer to the Modi-led government.

On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Imran Khan has called upon “the international community to hold India accountable for its human rights abuses in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir”.

Pakistan refers to Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir as occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while India calls the Pakistani-administered area Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

?Talking about the atrocities such as women, men, and children having to face pellet guns, sexual assault, electrocution, and physical and mental torture, Khan said in a series of Tweets on Friday: “atrocities by Indian Occupation forces on orders of the Hindutva supremacist occupation Modi government are well documented by UN, human rights organisations, and international media”.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan remain engaged in a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control, killing soldiers and civilians on both sides. India and Pakistan both claim Jammu and Kashmir as part of their countries.

The two countries have been fighting over it since independence and have fought three wars as well. The diplomatic ties between New Delhi and Islamabad completely deteriorated when India revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.”

  10. Trump dubbed ‘toxic’ by David Miliband as ex-Labour hopeful calls for immigration reform (express, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1301391/donald-trump-news-david-miliband-refugee-border-labour-party-spt

“DONALD TRUMP has been accused of making US politics toxic with his language about refugees by former Labour leadership contender David Miliband, in an exclusive interview with Express.

To coincide with last week’s World Refugee Day, Mr Miliband discussed the issue of refugees within the US and how since Trump came to office four years ago the discussion had become “more toxic” leading to the slashing of support budgets for those most in need. Yet, the International Rescue Committee president and CEO condemned Trump’s movements on the issue, which has seen refugee numbers across the globe reach figures unseen since the devastating days of World War 2. Since coming to power, Trump has installed an “America first” attitude, which sees the country’s primary focus remain more firmly on itself.

Examples of this include Trump’s decision to axe monetary support for institutions such as NATO and the World Health Organisation (WHO), as well as his vow to build a wall between the US and Mexico to keep out immigrants.

But the manner in which Trump has gone about turning a humanitarian issue into a political one led Mr Miliband to remind the President that forgetting refugees is akin to forgetting his country’s past, which was built on those in need centuries ago.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, the former South Shields MP said: “In the US it’s obviously become a more toxic, political issue.

“The US historically has welcomed more refugees than any other country through its refugee resettlement programme but that’s been slashed under President Trump.

“And the truth is that he has been part of a wider trend in which issues of immigration and issues of refugees have become very confused.

“In the US, there hasn’t been an immigration reform bill for 30 years, since 1986, and so the debate about immigration has overwhelmed the facts about refugees.

“It’s not a case that one is good and one is bad – it’s just that they’re different because people move for different reasons. And so I think the debate has polarised.”

Last week, the IRC shared figures from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHRC), which showed that around one percent of humanity – around one in every 97 people on the planet – have now been affected by forced displacement.

The latest data shows that by the end of 2019, 79.5 million people had been displaced – a figure the organisation said was unprecedented in its history.

It is made even more dire by the fact that since the Nineties, where on average 1.5 million refugees could return home each year, declining support and standards has led to only 385,000 refugees being able to go back to their home nations annually.

And although the trends make for miserable reading, Mr Miliband is adamant that nations such as the US and UK must do more to support those in need of a safe home.

He added: “The debate is open in the sense of fair play that many people have can still be called on and I think that is one of the things that has happened in the COVID crisis is that how our societies are run has come out of the shadows and the real lives of people is more clear.

“I always say that the biggest danger for refugees is that they get dehumanised and some of the rhetoric dehumanises them.

“But when you know them as work mates, as neighbours, as family members you can see they are just like you or me.”

  11. Scholar: Persecuted Turkish Christians Are ‘Erdogan’s Scapegoat’ (breitbart, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/faith/2020/06/26/scholar-persecuted-turkish-christians-are-erdogans-scapegoat/

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has been using the nation’s Christians as a “welcome scapegoat” to distract from his political errors in Syria and Libya, asserts prominent religious scholar Alexander Görlach.

“The persecution of Christians in Turkey continues,” writes Görlach, senior fellow with the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. “While the world is busy fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, dealing with mass unemployment and a global recession, the Turkish government is taking advantage of the situation to further pressure minorities.”

Writing this week for Deutsche Welle, the New York-based expert in comparative religions asserts that Erdo?an has been adopting a nationalist and Islamic rhetoric, resulting in a further marginalization of Turkey’s Christians.

Erdo?an, in fact, has “been busy reorganizing his secular republic into a mixture of Ottomanism and Islam for some time now,” Görlach writes.

As the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, President Erdo?an is playing to the religious fervor of his population, resurrecting plans to convert Istanbul’s iconic Hagia Sophia back into a mosque. Early next month, Turkey’s highest administrative court is slated to rule on a petition to reopen the building to Muslim worshipers.

Hagia Sophia, which dates back to the sixth century, was one of Christendom’s most treasured cathedrals but was converted into a mosque when Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered the city in 1453.

In 1931, Turkey’s President Atatürk turned the mosque into a museum as part of his program to modernize and secularize the country.

“After the decision on Hagia Sophia by the Council of State on July 2, inshallah, we will be praying there,” Mr. Erdogan has told members of his pro-Islam ruling Justice and Development Party.

One of the oldest Christian communities in the world has been feeling the brunt of the pro-Islamic pressure from Ankara, Görlach argues, and the Syriac-Aramaic Christians in the country’s southeast have had to fear for their rights and property.

In effect, Turkish authorities have begun expropriating land and homes from Christians, reassigning them to other owners and leaving the affected Christians homeless, Görlach asserts. A number of the Christian churches in this part of the country have been destroyed, he adds, during the armed confrontation with the Kurds.

The Syriac-Aramaic church is one of the only churches in the world to use the Aramaic tongue in its worship, the language believed to have been spoken by Jesus Christ himself.

Görlach cites the case of Father Sefer Bileçen a Syriac Orthodox priest from southeastern Turkey who was charged with being a member of a terrorist group after he gave water and bread to members of a Kurdish separatist group who knocked at the door of his monastery.

The priest responded that his Christian duty obliges him to furnish assistance to anyone who asked for it.

Attempts to associate Turkish Christians with Kurdish militias — enemies of the state — will only serve to stoke greater animosity toward the already marginalized Christian community, Görlach notes.

A rally by Turkey’s People’s Democratic party (HDP), the pro-Kurdish opposition party, in Ankara last Saturday ended in confrontation with police, who deployed teargas and arrested demonstrators.

In point of fact, Turkish Christians have suffered systematic discrimination for years. The vast majority of the modern Turks, including Erdogan, are Sunni Muslims, and minorities, including Christians, make up just 0.2 percent of the Turkish population.”

    • Arameans lived forever in the zone invaded by the filthy Turk. That was last September, immediately after his phone call with PTrump.

Almost 300,000 civilians were forced to flee in the following five days, leaving homes and farms to the Turk marauders. Ancient Christians, as well as other minorities like Yazidis.

A farm belt PTrump disdained as “nothing but sand and death”. That’s the region Andy Bostom wrote off as a Maoist-PKK enclave.

The PKK is a small party among many political parties of Kurds. It’s slander to allege otherwise, and echoes the genocidal filthy Turk who regards ALL Kurds as subhuman terrorist vermin.

Our allies are learning that relationships with the USA are strictly transactional. That’s out in the open now.

We can stop playing global policeman without making excuses to anybody. But maligning the people we will no longer protect is exceptionally poor form. When a Jew engages in comic-book revisionist history, that’s a disgrace.

  12. ‘Allah Akbar’ Nunchuck Migrant Attacks Italian Police (breitbart, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/06/26/allah-hu-akbar-shouting-migrant-nunchucks-attacks-italian-police/

“Italian police arrested a 29-year-old Egyptian national after the migrant attacked the officers while armed with Japanese-style nunchucks and yelling “Allah hu Akbar”.

The incident took place after the Egyptian national initially threatened municipal workers in the town of Fiumicino just outside of Rome on Tuesday. The man came to the office with his dog. He is said to have reached into his bag and pulled out a pair of nunchucks and other weapons to threaten officials.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after the threats were made, according to a report from newspaper Il Giornale, and upon seeing the officers, the Egyptian attempted to escape but was soon located by police.

“I will set the whole town on fire if I don’t get the papers,” the Egyptian shouted at the police and unleashed his dog which bit on of the officers in the arm.

After subduing the migrant, police discovered a knife and a pair of scissors in the bag along with the man’s nunchucks. The man continued to yell at the officers while in custody, shouting “Allah hu Akbar” as he was taken into the local police station.

The case is just the latest attack by a migrant against Italian police officers in recent years. Earlier this year in Turin, migrants at a repatriation centre attacked police with bricks.

The migrants, mainly North Africans, wounded 13 people after climbing on the roof of the building and raining down bricks on police and two army soldiers.

Last year, a Senegalese illegal migrant attacked police with an iron bar in Turin while also yelling “Allah hu Akbar”. He seriously injured one of the officers who was struck in the head, while another suffered injuries to his hand.

Police are not the only emergency workers to be attacked by migrants. Last month, much of Italy was shocked after it was reported that an African migrant had raped a nurse. She had been attacked while heading home after her shift at a hospital in Naples, where she had been battling the Wuhan coronavirus.”

“Iraqi security forces arrested over a dozen men suspected of a spate of rocket attacks against the U.S. presence in Iraq, the Iraqi military said Friday — the strongest action to date by the new government in Baghdad against perpetrators suspected of ties to Iran.

The arrests marked a bold move by the government to crack down on groups that have long been a source of tension for U.S.-Iraq relations. Two senior Iraqi officials, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, said the 14 men who were arrested had ties to an Iran-backed militia group.

A series of rockets have struck close to U.S. installations inside the Green Zone and an Iraqi army base near to the airport in the Iraqi capital since Baghdad embarked on strategic talks with Washington on June 11.

The U.S. has blamed Iran-backed militia group Kataib Hezbollah for orchestrating attacks against its embassy and American troops inside Iraqi bases, and criticized the Iraqi government for not identifying and arresting the culprits…”

  15. In Nigeria, an Islamic State-linked group steps up attacks (abcnews, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/nigeria-islamic-state-linked-group-steps-attacks-71470798

“An Islamic State-linked group appears to be regaining strength in northeastern Nigeria and is now warning it will target civilians who help the military or even humanitarian organizations.

The Islamic State in West Africa Province, which broke away from Boko Haram in 2016, had appeared weakened earlier this year by internal feuding, said Nnamdi Obasi, the senior adviser for Nigeria at the International Crisis Group.

But earlier this month it killed more than 120 people in a single week, including 40 in Monguno, a town housing an estimated 150,000 displaced people and a U.N. humanitarian base that was only able to repel the jihadists after hours of fighting.

“The new attack now suggests that there is a new flare to their violence,” Obasi said.

The Islamic State in West Africa Province broke away from Boko Haram following a dispute over leadership and the strategy of attacking civilian targets such as mosques and marketplaces.

The splinter faction is now believed to have as many as 5,000 fighters, according to a International Crisis Group report last year.

Boko Haram has focused on attacking military units, targeting soldiers on guard or patrol operations. The extremist group also has attacked civilians through suicide bombings often carried out by young girls.

A new campaign by the Nigerian military and the regional multinational joint task force resulted in the “killing of over 1,200? Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, according to the military, which claims many of their commanders have been killed or arrested.

The renewed push by the Islamic State in West Africa Province comes after the military scored some major gains against the extremists in the northeast.

Nigeria’s military and the multinational security force “have made tremendous success” in targeting the group’s operational bases, said Kabiru Adamu, a security consultant based in Nigeria.

Those wins have been attributed, in part, to help from communities that are increasingly willing to help the military in the hope that they can end the violence that has engulfed the region for more than a decade.

That has led the Islamic State West Africa Province to announce a shift in tactics that threatens to deepen the crisis.

Pamphlets left at the scene of the recent attacks warned civilians that they may be considered targets if they aid the military or humanitarian groups.

It’s a marked shift for the group, which until now has spared Muslim residents as long as they pledge allegiance to the group and pay taxes that are illegally levied on them, said Bunu Malam-Kolo, chief of a local defense group trying to protect civilians in northeastern Borno state.

The recent reports of civilians aiding the military has infuriated the ISWAP group. The militants have even publicly named the communities they intend to attack next.

“And they have a long list of such communities where they felt residents are helping the government forces to expose them,” Malam-Kolo added.”

  16. Philippine police kill 4 terror suspects in Manila shootout (abcnews, Jun 26, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/philippine-police-kill-terror-suspects-manila-shootout-71470657

“Philippine police raided a suspected hideout of Islamic State group-linked militants in metropolitan Manila early Friday and killed four of them in a gunbattle, security officials said.

Metropolitan Manila Police Chief Debold Sinas said police and intelligence agents were to serve a search warrant after midnight at a house in suburban Paranaque city after months of surveillance when the suspected militants opened fire.

An officer was shot in the leg and hospitalized, police said, adding they recovered pistols, suspected bomb parts, money transfer records and two black flags like those of the Islamic State group.

The raid comes as President Rodrigo Duterte considers whether to sign a new and more powerful anti-terror law, which has already been passed by Congress. The country’s military chief cited Friday’s gunbattle as a reason Duterte should sign it as soon as possible.

“It is public security and general welfare that are at stake. We should protect and defend from terrorists without further delay,” Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. said.

He said the presence of the suspects in the Manila area underscored their readiness to plot an attack despite the suffering caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Officials did not say what, if any, specific attack the suspects were plotting.

The proposed Anti-Terror Act would allow the detention of suspects for up to 24 days without charge and empowers a government anti-terrorism council to designate suspects or groups as suspected terrorists who could then be subjected to arrests and surveillance.

Opponents say the legislation violates the constitution, defines terrorism too broadly, could be misused to target government critics and could threaten legitimate dissent.

Those slain Friday were identified by police as Merhama Abdul Sawari, Bensaudi Sali, Rasmin Hussin and Jamal Kalliming.

Sinas said the suspects handled funds for Daulah Islamiyah, one of the militant groups blamed for laying siege to Marawi city in the southern Philippines for five months in 2017.

Sawari facilitated funds for Philippine-based militants from Indonesia’s Sulawesi region, Sinas said in a statement without elaborating.”

  17. Norwegian found guilty of spying for Iran in Denmark
    2 MIN READ

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – A Danish court on Friday sentenced a Norwegian citizen to seven years in jail after convicting him of spying for an Iranian intelligence service and complicity in a suspected plot to kill an Iranian Arab opposition figure in Denmark.

Mohammad Davoudzadeh Loloei, a 40-year-old Norwegian with Iranian heritage, was arrested in October 2018 after a major police operation in which Denmark temporarily closed its international borders.

For several days in late September that year, Loloei observed and took photos of the home of an Iranian exile in Denmark, as well as the streets and roads surrounding the home, Roskilde District Court said in a statement.

  19. the gateway pundit Joe Biden: “I Would Do Everything Possible to Make It Required that People Had to Wear Masks in Public”

Joe Biden told KDKA in Pittsburgh that he will force Americans to wear masks in public… In 2021!

Joe Biden will force Americans to wear masks over a disease that is slightly worse than the seasonal flu.

    That is just crazy.

Will he arrest Americans for not wearing masks? Fine them? Jail them?

Q: I know you have been critical of the president’s handling of the pandemic in the past. But let’s look ahead. If you became president tomorrow, what would you do differently regarding the pandemic and getting these surging cases now under control?

Biden: I would go back to making sure that everybody had masks, that you had PPE [personal protective equipment] lined up, we’d have been making sure we stockpile all the things that we need that we don’t have now. The one thing we do know, these masks make a gigantic difference. I would insist that everybody out in public be wearing that mask. Anyone to reopen — would have to make sure that they walked in their business that had masks.

Q: Couldn’t you use the federal leverage to mandate that, though?

    Biden: Yes.

    Q: Would you?

Biden: Yes, I would from an executive standpoint, yes, i would.

Q: So you would, in effect, mandate the wearing of masks.

Biden: I would do everything possible to make it required that people had to wear masks in public.

  29. DAILY MAIL – Sky News cuts off ex-Met Police chief after he says officers have ‘given up’ trying to stop young black men carrying weapons and accuses BLM of aiming to destabilise society

Ex-chief superintendent Kevin Hurley said BLM was driving ‘misinformation’
He was giving punditry on Sky following ugly clashes with police in Brixton
Anchor Adam Boulton cut him off in full flow, sparking accusations online
But Boulton insisted he was restrained by rigid time slots and rubbished critics

Sky News has been accused of shutting down a former Scotland Yard chief for claiming Black Lives Matter is deliberately stirring up a false anti-police narrative.

Ex-chief superintendent Kevin Hurley claimed senior figures in the movement were waging a ‘misinformation’ campaign to ‘destabilise and disrupt’ society.

He also suggested the ugly clashes in Brixton on Wednesday night were products of Afro-Caribbean single parenting and said constables had ‘given up’ enforcing the law on young black Britons for fear of jeopardising their careers.

Anchor Adam Boulton challenged Mr Hurley and suggested it was unhelpful to view the violence through the prism of race – before later cutting him off entirely when the former top brass was in full flow.

The abrupt end to the interview sparked accusations online that Sky News did not want to air ‘uncomfortable’ opinions, but this has been vehemently denied by Boulton who insisted he was constricted by rigid time slots.

Reacting to the violence in Brixton, Mr Hurley, who also served as Surrey’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said yesterday: ‘The only way you’re going to deal with this is with social intervention to get upstream and manage the problems that comes with single parenting, particularly among young African-Caribbean women.

‘And I’m talking about intervening and supporting women when the children are three to four years of age, to prevent them going down this route of rebelliousness and often offending.’

He added: ‘We’ve got into a vicious circle with police officers dealing with young black people, who always come to the perspective that the police are trying to suppress them.

‘And the police very quickly come to learn that dealing with young black people is quite frankly aggravation that puts their careers and mortgages at risk.

‘That’s the reason why so many black youth are killing each other in London, because the police have given up trying to stop them carrying knives and guns and killing each other.’

Boulton picked Mr Hurley up on his claims, and retorted: ‘Do you think it is really helpful at this time of heightened concern over Black Lives Matter to see this so clearly in racial terms.’

But the ex-police chief swatted away the anchor’s critcism and insisted that ‘this is not a BAME issue, this is an issue relating to people of West African heritage in terms of the relationship between the police and the public’.

He pressed on: ‘There’s an awful lot of misinformation going on about police killing black people in custody.

‘Last year 16 people died for various reasons in police custody – largely from drug overdoses – of those 16, only one was black.

‘Last year the police shot three people dead – only one was black. There is a narrative going on here, I think driven by people within the Black Lives Matter movement who want to destabalise and disrupt society.’

But as he went to start another sentence, Bolton suddenly interjected: ‘Ok we’re going to have to leave it there, thank you very much indeed,’ and the video feed to Mr Hurley was cut off.

The hasty wrapping up of the interview was seized upon by many on Twitter, who hit out at the presenter directly.

But Boulton slapped down his critics and tweeted: ‘I didn’t (cut him off). But we are subject to automatic cut-offs for ad breaks, half hours, top of the hour and even the weather.

‘We aim to give all guests the time to have their say and normally succeed.’

The presenter, who tweets in a personal capacity, also said: ‘There have been incidents of bad crowd behaviour by all sorts of people around the UK, not just those singled out by Kevin Hurley.’

    Sky News declined to comment.

Some viewers took to Twitter to voice their outrage at Mr Hurley’s comments.

Luke Hubbard, whose profile says he is a PhD student and hate crime researcher, said: ‘This is absolute garbage from Kevin Hurley!’

Another Twitter user, Moya Lothian-Mclean, said that Mr Hurley had made ‘disgraceful, ignorant comments’.

Others, though, agreed with his views.

  31. India-China Standoff: Big Joint-Military Exercise In Ladakh, Indian Army’s Dominance In Land & Air

    • Sunanda Vashisht @sunandavashisht
      Jun 25
Any analyst who tells you that internal reorganization of J&K and @AmitShah’s statement in Indian Parliament are sole triggers for current India-China standoff should retire from commenting and analyzing or reveal who they are working for.

First of all just because there was no loss of life on LAC does not mean the problems between China and India had resolved even in the slightest measure. China has never stopped provoking. India looked other way and was in comatose state up until now.

Modi Govt, given its massive mandate in elections, tried initiating the conversation on border dispute. But China was not interested. ‘Emperor’ Xi is even less interested. China wants to keep the border issue festering to use it as leverage against India.

So in absence of China’s unwillingness to solve border issue, next possible option for India is to safeguard its territory and be ready for any military conflict. Building border infrastructure is key to that and Modi green lighted several such projects.

This is what is at the heart of current standoff but the larger picture is Xi having made himself President for life wants to be sole Asian empire of consequence. Hence China’s issues with everyone except Pakistan which is China’s client state.

So just don’t read Chinese propagandists. Global times does better and more entertaining propaganda.

India has begun issuing controversial “domicile certificates” to thousands of non-Kashmiris. Critics have long warned settling non-locals in disputed Himalayan territory is an attempt to effect demographic change in the Muslim-majority region.

One of the first outsiders to get the certificate was Navin Kumar Choudhary, a senior civil servant from eastern India’s Bihar state, The Tribune newspaper reported on Friday.

It said Choudhary is among nearly 25,000 people who have been handed the domicile certificate, which allows non-Kashmiris to assume jobs and purchase land in the tiny Himalayan territory bitterly contested by Pakistan and India.

    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/06/26/cyprus-launches-probe-allegations-child-sexual-assault-migrant-camp/

“The government of Cyprus is launching an investigation into allegations of the sexual assault of underage girls at a migrant centre.

The investigation comes after a United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) official made the allegations. The UNHCR officer also revealed that the Cypriot government had not separated boys and girls from adult migrants and that they were only kept apart from adults in the showers by a curtain.

Children’s rights commissioner of Cyprus, Despo Michaelidou-Livaniou, claimed that there had also been reports that underage girls had been groped at the Pournara migrant reception centre while they lined up for food, Greek newspaper Kathimerini reports.

Interior Minister Nicos Nouris slammed the UNHCR official for not reporting allegations of sexual assault to the police instead of waiting several days to bring up the matter at a parliamentary meeting earlier his week.

He went on to say that due to the large number of asylum seekers arriving in Cyprus, the Interior Ministry was doing the best job it could and no prior allegations of sexual abuse had taken place.

While Cyprus is not known as the European country with the most asylum seekers overall, it is the country with the most asylum seekers per capita in the European Union. According to local authorities, most asylum seekers arrive by crossing the border from Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus.

Former Interior Minister Constantinos Petrides went as far as suggesting that the government of Turkey, headed by Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was purposely helping traffick migrants into the southern part of the island.

“Not many of them are refugees. These are economic immigrants who abuse or exploit this particularity,” Petrides said in November.

Sexual abuse allegations have also surfaced in migrant camps in Greece with the UNHCR warning in 2018 that they had received reports of sexual violence in overcrowded Aegean island camps.”

In addition, Samir said that lesbianism is also prohibited by Islamic law.

    June 26, 2020 at 5:00 am

India has been facing its toughest military challenge in nearly six decades after 20 Indian soldiers were reported killed by Chinese troops in a border clash.

The soldiers were beaten to death with “sticks, fists, rocks and wooden clubs” during a confrontation in the Himalayan region of eastern Ladakh, Indian sources said. In keeping with a 1996 bilateral border agreement between India and China, soldiers are forbidden from firing weapons in the area where the clash occurred.

Chinese troops carried out a “premeditated and planned action that was directly responsible for the resulting violence and casualties”, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on June 17.

“Based on what I know, Chinese side also suffered casualties,” tweeted the editor-in-chief of the Chinese newspaper Global Times, a Communist Party mouthpiece.

“Indian intercepts reveal that Chinese side suffered 43 casualties including dead and seriously injured in the violent face-off,” New Delhi-based Hindustan Times newspaper reported that military sources had said..

Beijing, so far, has not confirmed these figures.
