Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. UK – Protesters demand removal of statue of the Victorian imperialist Cecil Rhodes in Oxford

Over a thousand protesters gather outside Oxford University to demand the removal of a statue of the Victorian imperialist Cecil Rhodes as Black Lives Matter protests continue across the UK.

    • CNN – Black Lives Matter movement presses the world to confront colonial statues

Protesters in the UK did what years of debate did not — tore down the statue to a slave trader.

As the Black Lives Matter movement gains momentum, triggered by George Floyd’s death in the US, countries are being pressed to confront their racist colonial history and the statues that commemorate that past.

    • the sun –TEAR THEM DOWN NO slave trader should have a statue in the UK, says minister as protesters draw up “hit list” of 60

A GOVERNMENT minister has said there should be no statues of slave traders in modern Britain as protesters drew up a “hit list” of 60 to be removed.

In a highly significant intervention, business minister Nadhim Zahawi said statues should be removed after a memorial of slaver Edward Colston was dragged down in protests in Bristol.

Government Minister Nadhim Zahawi said there shouldn’t be any pictures of slavers in Britain

Mr Zahawi told Sky News: “My opinion is any slave trader should not have a statue.

“But I wouldn’t be breaking the law to take statues down, it should be done through our democratic process.

“This country is a democracy, a proud democracy and it should be up to local people to decide what they want to do with that statue and any other statue.”

“If the majority of people decide that we want the statues down, then they should be taken down.”

Mr Zahawi suggested statues of slavers should be “put in a museum so we can learn more about the men and women who behaved in all sorts of ways, historically, that is not appropriate in the 21st century.”

“If we want to have a debate about statues, let’s have that debate and let’s elect politicians who stand on a platform saying we’ll take the statues down.”

The tearing down of Colston’s statue sparked a furious debate over which people get honoured with memorials in Britain, and a statue in London of 18th century slave trader Robert Milligan was taken down yesterday.

The Topple the Racists website was published by the Stop Trump coalition in support of the Black Lives Matter protests and maps out 60 statues across Britain which pay tribute to slave traders and “racists”.

The group said: “We believe these statues and other memorials to slave-owners and colonialists need to be removed so that Britain can finally face the truth about its past – and how it shapes our present.

They said they were inspired to start the map by the actions of the protesters in Bristol.

“Statues are exercises of public adoration. And Edward Colston made his fortune in the slave trade.

“He was part of a system of mass murder, torture and human suffering.

“We must learn from, not venerate, this terrible chapter in British colonial history.”

The list of statues and street names range from statues of Christopher Columbus in Belgravia, London, the famed explorer who colonised America to stained glass windows in Cambridge and street names in Croydon.

The news comes after London Mayor Sadiq Khan demanded statues and plaques be removed and street names in London changed if they commemorate slave owners.

Mr Khan told Sky News yesterday: “We’ve got to realise that our public realm statues, squares, street names don’t accurately reflect our values, or London, in 2020.”

But he added: “I don’t condone at all any attacks on our police, any disorder or criminal damages.”

Meanwhile, it has been announced130 Labour councils across England and Wales will begin reviewing monuments and statues in their towns and cities.

It means dozens more monuments could be removed.

A statement posted on Twitter said: “LGA Labour have consulted with all Labour council leaders, and there is overwhelming agreement from all Labour councils that they will listen to and work with their local communities to review the appropriateness of local monuments and statues on public land and council property.”

And in Scotland, Adam McVey, leader of Edinburgh city council, told BBC Radio Scotland he would feel “absolutely no sense of loss” if the statue of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville responsible for delaying the abolition of the slave trade by 15 years, was removed from the 150ft Melville Monument.

Yesterday a statue of Robert Milligan – thought to have owned some 500 slaves – was removed from the West India Quay in east London following a petition from a Labour MP.

Milligan was the driving force behind the building of the West India Docks in London.

He also traded slaves in Jamaica.

Reports say the statue’s removal was met with cheers and applause from onlookers.

Milligan’s statue had stood outside the Museum of the Docklands near the West India Quay he helped create near Canary Wharf.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan added the Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm would work to introduce statues and memorials which “better reflect London” including the inclusion of more black, disabled and LGBTQ+ people.

Some of statues that could be part of a cull are slave traders and owners William Beckford, John Cass and Thomas Guy.

Former Lord Mayor of London William Beckford, who has a statue inside London’s Guildhall, is believed to have owned around 3,000 slaves in plantations in Jamaica.

Sir John Cass was a philanthropist and a slaver, who was a member of the Royal African Company’s Court of Assistance for three years in the 1700s.

The foundation set up in memory of him provides support to schools and universities in London – including the Cass Business school.

Thomas Guy, who one King’s College London’s campuses is named after, made his fortune off of investing in the slave trade.

Yesterday, people were spotted trying to fish the statue of Colston out of the Bristol harbour as conflict emerged over how the protesters have behaved and whether statues should be removed.

A website called Topple the Racists has been set up mapping out all the statues across Britain they demand should be taken down.

Senior police chief Andy Bennet, who led the Avon and Somerset police operation in Bristol during the protests, said having officers guard the statue would have led to further violence and vandalism in the city.

He said Bristol should be “proud” of the way the city handled the protests.

He told the Bristol Post: “No one got hurt and we had no arrests in the whole protest. That is 10,000 passionate people — Bristol should be proud of itself.”

Mr Khan said the recommendations from the new commission would probably be that some statues would have to be pulled down.

He clarified: “I suspect the commission may come back and say it’s not appropriate to be memorialising, to be celebrating these people.

“It’s a discussion we should have and it’s really important to bring in diverse voices, we can imagine – there are statues of people who were involved in the Royal African Company in London.

“There are statues of plantation owners and their contribution is solely the money they made through plantations.”

But Mr Khan said not all statues would be included in the review – such as that of famed former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, whose memorial was defaced by protester who wrote he “was a racist” over the weekend.

The London Mayor said people needed to learn about famous figures, such as Churchill, Gandhi and Malcolm X, “warts and all” and that “nobody was perfect.”

Following the tearing down of the statue of Edward Colston, there are fears the statue of Cecil Rhodes at Oxford University could also be taken down as protesters plan to stage a demonstration at 5pm.

The Rhodes Must Fall Oxford campaign group has called for the image of the mining magnate and empire builder to be removed from Oriel College, arguing the university has “failed to address its institutional racism”.

His comments come after Boris Johnson slammed protesters for taking the law into their own hands and pulling down the statue of Costol in Bristol over the weekend.

The PM said: “(We do not) desecrate public monuments, we have a democracy in this country.

“If you want to change the urban landscape, you can stand for election or vote for someone who will.”

  2. BBC – UK -Little Britain removed from streaming sites after ‘blackface’ criticism

The TV comedy series Little Britain has been removed from all UK streaming platforms because of concerns about the use of ‘blackface’ by its two stars, David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

The comedy sketch show, which first aired in 2003 on BBC Three, has been removed from Netflix, BritBox and BBC iPlayer. The follow up show, Come Fly With Me, has also been taken down by Netflix.

Meanwhile a leading imam has told the BBC that the government’s decision to re-open places of worship for private individual prayer next Monday could cause resentment in some faith communities.

Qari Asim, who heads the Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board, said that while Christians were able to pray as individuals, Muslims and other faiths practiced communal prayer and if this wasn’t possible because of social distancing measures it would be better to keep the doors shut.

  4. Norwegian Princess Kneels for Her ‘Black Brothers and Sisters’ Amid BLM Protests (sputniknews, Jun 10, 2020)

“Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise claimed that she has been given a “crash course” in how “white supremacy” works by her black lover who is a self-proclaimed shaman and a healer.

In conjunction with the violent Black Lives Matter demonstrations in the US and Europe, sparked by the death of African American George Floyd at the hands of US police, the phenomenon of whites taking a knee has started to kick off.

In Norway, this trend received a royal touch as Princess Märtha Louise posted a photograph of herself and her three teenage daughters kneeling on her Instagram account.

The 48-year-old princess is seen holding up a sign with the promise to “listen, learn, and take action”. In the comment, Märtha Louise pledged support to her “black brothers and sisters”.

Märtha Louise also explained that she has been given a “crash course” in how “white supremacy” works by her black lover, Durek Verret, who claims to be a shaman and a healer.

“I, as a white person, need to grow, educate myself and become better and move from being against racism to being anti-racist”, she wrote.

Märtha Louise’s tirades sparked a polarising reaction.

“Rich white folk telling us their point of view. Be quiet please”, one viewer wrote sarcastically.

“Maybe educate yourself that Floyd was a criminal? He beat up a black pregnant woman because he wanted money for drugs. Also, he was convicted 5 times. I can’t understand how it can get so crazy. Stand paying homage to a criminal, just because you want clout on Insta… grow up”, another one wrote.

“So what happened to the black police officers that were brutally killed due to this unprecedented violence sweeping my country? Their lives don’t matter because they are police?”, another reply said.

“The whole comments is a torrent of faggotry and virtue-signaling cringefest from upper class libtards living in gated communities”, one unimpressed reply said.

On the other hand, many were elated about Märtha Louise’s commitment.

“Wow what a role model you are as a mother with your three beautiful strong daughters!”, one enthusiastic reply said.

“Sooo proud to have such a model. Many heartfelt thanks for giving a voice to such an important fight. Never stop impressing, never stop being so open and loving”, another one said.

Another one called Märtha Louise’s family “Princesses 2.0”.

Last but not least, Märtha Louise also received an ovation from Verret himself, who wrote: “Your [sic] so beautiful .. gorgeous”.

She also received a token of appreciation from Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

Princess Märtha Louise of Norway is not a member of the royal house, but is active as a businesswoman. She is a self-described clairvoyant, who led an alternative therapy centre commonly referred to as an “angel school”, which among other things provided training in communication with angels and the dead.

She was married to the late writer and visual artist Ari Behn from 2002 to 2017, who later committed suicide. In 2019, she publicly announced her romantic relationship and professional collaboration with Durek Verrett, a self-described US shaman.

Since late May, African American man George Floyd’s death at the hands of the Minneapolis police in Minnesota has sparked a worldwide movement against police brutality and social injustice, sweeping all of the US states and most of Europe. Many of the protests hailed as righteous by activists and politicians have turned into rioting rife with violence against police and civilians, acts of vandalism, arson, and looting.”

  5. Swedish BLM Activists Call to Tear Down Monuments (sputniknews, Jun 10, 2020)

“Black Lives Matter protests against racism and police brutality have led to a number of statues seen as problematic or associated with racism and colonialism vandalised, removed, or torn down in several European cities, including London, Bristol, and Antwerp.

Award-winning anti-racist activist Lovette Jallow has called to remove statues of renowned biologist Carl Linnaeus, who is credited with the classification of the plant and animal kingdom and is known as “the father of the modern taxonomy”.

African-born Jallow argued that Linnaeus (1707-1778), should be considered the father of race biology because he divided Africans and Europeans into two different races with different characteristics. This totally offset his other accomplishment, Jallow claimed, suggesting that statues of him “must be shaking”.

“I mean he is everywhere: Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, Uppsala, etc.”, Jallow wrote in a now-restricted tweet, as quoted by the news outlet Samhällsnytt.

In a Twitter rant inspired by “problematic” monuments seen as racist being vandalised or taken down across Europe, she listed several statues of Linnaeus she found especially provocative, including one in Stockholm that was allegedly “staring” at her as she had lunch.

According to Samhällsnytt, Jallow ended her call with a “Just do it!” gif and several laughing emojis. At the same time, she urged her followers not to view her tweets as some form of encouragement.

In the comments, her followers demanded, among other things, that the city of Lund take down its Linnaeus statue. The city’s communicator immediately replied that it is Lund University who is responsible for the statue and recommened to raise the issue with them.

“The statue of Linnaeus has been at Petri Square since 1938 when they wanted to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his studies in Lund, and is owned by Lund University”.

As conservative profile and columnist Ivar Arpi inquired on Twitter, what other statues will be removed in Sweden and what writers would be banished from libraries, users proposed Swedish monarch and warlord Karl XII, writer Wilhelm Moberg (over his depictions of Indians) and the old editions of Astrid Lindgren’s classic Pippi Longstocking, whose father admittedly was a “Negro King”. In later editions, he was replaced with a more palatable “South Sea King”.

Jallow’s call came as Black Lives Matter activists vandalised and tore down statues and monuments in other countries, including a statue of Churchill in London and King Leopold II in Belgium.

?“Does anyone remember the resurrection when Daesh* demolished historic statues in the Middle East? Why aren’t people as upset when BLM destroys statues in Europe?”, Swedish blogger Projekt Morpheus asked rhetorically.

?“This is about incitement to crime. I presume that it is already reported to the police and that a preliminary investigation is about to be started”, another user tweeted.

?Carl Linnaeus, following his ennoblement also known as Carl von Linné is a Swedish botanist, zoologist, and physician who formalised binomial nomenclature, the modern system of naming organisms.

Gambia-born Lovette Jallow moved to Sweden with her family when she was 11 years old and has since profiled herself as a debater and activist. On her website she describes herself as “one of the most important voices of our time when it comes to the fight against racism, discrimination, and injustice in society”. In 2019, she received the Raoul Wallenberg Prize for her work against racism.

  6. Militants Shell Towns in Syria’s Idlib, Hama, Russian Military Says (sputniknews, Jun 10, 2020)

“Militants from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham* terrorist group have conducted numerous attacks in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Hama, Rear Admiral Alexander Shcherbitskiy, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry’s centre for Syrian reconciliation, said on Tuesday.

“We have registered one shelling on the settlement of Dadikh in the province of Idlib, one shelling on the settlement of Tanjara in the province of Haman from the positions of Jabhat al-Nusra* terrorist organization”, Shcherbitskiy said, adding that a group of unidentified people tried to obstruct the movement of the Russian military police patrol near the village of Kobane.
An explosive device planted under the vehicle detonated when the patrol car was turning back. Shcherbitskiy noted that no one was hurt and the servicemen returned safely to the base. He added that there had not been any confirmed attacks by the armed groups controlled by Turkey.

On 5 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, agreed on a ceasefire in Idlib, which started at midnight. The sides also agreed to create a security corridor six kilometres (3.7 miles) north and south of the M4 highway in Syria, which connects the provinces of Latakia and Aleppo. Under the ceasefire agreement, Moscow and Ankara conduct joint patrols along the M4 highway, which is currently controlled by militants.

Militants remain in control of a small pocket of the Idlib province in northwest Syria.

  7. Lebanese Protest Local Currency Devaluation in Beirut (sputniknews, Jun 10, 2020)

“People gathered outside the Lebanese central bank’s building in Beirut on Tuesday to protest the high cost of the dollar, which has been driving the local currency’s exchange rate downward.

Demonstrators blocked traffic on the central street as they called for urgent economic reforms and early parliamentary elections, the state news agency NNA reported.

On Saturday, the city saw clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces, with hundreds of demonstrators, pelting the parliament’s building with stones and smashing shop windows.

Local troops were deployed to the streets to disperse the crowd. In response, protesters set a police motorbike on fire and barricaded the road, burning tires and trash cans.

Lebanon has been rocked by protests since October when the price of the dollar on the parallel market more than doubled, causing consumers to lose their purchasing power and putting many out of jobs.”

  8. Five Terrorists Killed in Intense Encounter in India’s Kashmir, 14 Neutralised in 72 Hours

“Over 100 terrorists have been gunned down in India’s Jammu and Kashmir by security forces in 2020 as they scaled up counter-terror operations in the valley, as per data maintained by the security forces. The data, however, suggests that most were local terrorists, while 10 were foreign, and six remained unidentified.

Five terrorists have been killed in a fierce gunbattle between the security forces and terrorists in the Sugoo area of the Shopian district in India’s Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The encounter which began in the wee hours of Wednesday is currently underway in the village of Hendhama, with an exchange of intermittent firing.

According to sources, a joint team of police, the Army’s 44 RR (Rashtriya Rifles), and Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon and search operation on an intelligence tip about the presence of terrorists in the area. Internet services have also been snapped in the district as a precautionary measure.

The encounter is the third operation within the past 72 hours and a total of 14 terrorists have been killed since Monday in the Shopian district.

Since the beginning of the year, Indian forces have eliminated around 110 suspected terrorists including Hizbul chief Riyaz Naikoo.

Jammu and Kashmir police in a Tweet stated on 8 June that 22 terrorists have been killed in last two weeks, “thwarting [the] wicked actions of Pakistan”.

Last week, India’s top military officer Lt Gen BS Raju claimed that all suspected terrorist camps and around 15 launch pads in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) “are full”, meaning India fears more terrorists incidents this summer.”

  9. “Nigel Farage: Black Lives Matter Is a ‘New Taliban'”
    by Luis Miguel – June 9, 2020

“Black Lives Matter is a far left Marxist organisation that wants to abolish the police and dismantle capitalism.
That won’t change just because 4 other panelists tried to shout down the truth on GMB this morning.”
    Nigel Farage – June 9, 2020 – Twitter

  10. Yesterday I got pulled over for speeding. The white cop nabbed me doing 35km/22mph over the limit on his radar gun. It was an arterial road–easy to speed when your mind is a veritable festival of black fly and butterfly concerns. (why is black fly two words yet butterfly only one? Is this yet another example of the arrogant white fly driving a wedge into the black fly community? No wonder we’re in the trouble we’re in!)

Normally such speed-of-light disregard for the speed limit would merit a hefty fine, at least. As a big believer in the latest leftist ruse being the rule of unfettered, life-choking regulation imposed by unelected bureaucrats trumping Rule of Law, I obeyed the officer’s wave. Expecting the worst I braced myself as I rolled to a stop at the shoulder of the road. “I got you doing 95,” said the lanky cop pointing to his radar gun.

I shrugged my regret. You got me, screw. Fuzz. The Man. Throw the book at me. See if I care, I thought. I’ve got bigger problems, man. The sky is falling and you’re playing with a radar gun. Shouldn’t you be out protecting us from the communist revolution with that sweet piece on your hip?

Then, to my shock and amazement he said,” Go ahead, just slow down.”
“You’re giving me a break?” I asked incredulously.
    “Yeah, go ahead.”

What just happened, I asked myself as I left the charitable policeman in a cloud of my burnt rubber. Is this an example of Reverse Virtue Signalling? Whereupon a policeman–be it by orders from above or autonomously, enacts his own public relations effort to improve his image in the public eye? Had he gone rogue? How many more are there like him? Is this a big new thing? What’s next, vigilante cops? (Reminds me of the first or second Dirty Harry movie.)

I remain, yours truly, and agog.

  11. ‘Whore, Slag, Slave Owner’: Queen Victoria Statue Vandalised with ‘BLM’ Slogans (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“A large memorial to former British monarch Queen Victoria has been vandalised with slogans including “Black Lives Matter”, “murderer”, and “slag”.

The vandalism — merely the latest in a sudden and intense trend to have swept the United Kingdom in just a few days — was visited upon a statue and pedestal in Leeds, England, which portrayed the 19th-century female monarch, and was built with allegorical statues depicting peace and industry.

Messages on the statue include “slave owner”, “murderer”, “rapist”, whore”, “slag”, “racist”, among other accusations, reports Leeds Live. At the base of the memorial, “Black Lives Matters” and “!!!educate” have been scrawled. The hands, faces, and genitals of one of the remaining allegorical statues were also coloured in. Queen Victoria did not own slaves, and lives during a time where slavery had already been banned by the British government.

While campaigns to destroy monuments have portrayed themselves as grassroots movements to right historical wrongs, the tradition of public memorials in the United Kingdom is very often that statues were paid for by the public, voluntarily, and not imposed from above. Such is the case with the Leeds Victoria, which was built in 1905 to immortalise the memory of the recently deceased Queen and paid for by a public subscription campaign…”

  12. Exclusive: Scottish Police Have ‘No Plans’ to Guard Statues Targeted by BLM and Left-Extremists (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“Police Scotland has told Breitbart London it has “no plans” to guard historic monuments and memorials which have appeared on the ‘Topple the Racists’ hit-list, established by the Stop Trump Coalition “in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and the topplers of Edward Colston”.

The acknowledgement that Scottish police had no plans to guard targets of the radical left came on the same day Home Secretary Priti Patel is reported to have had a “firm” conversation with the chief of Somerset and Avon police, whose force failed to prevent a statue being destroyed on Sunday, demanding answers for the failure.

Suggesting there is no unified national response to political vandalism, within hours of Police Scotland speaking to Breitbart London, officers in Oxford were photographed guarding a historic building in the city which was the subject of a significant protest, with officers in tactical gear standing at the entrance and further specialist officers stationed on the roof…”

  13. No Apology Needed: Tunisian Parliament Rejects Bid for French to Say ‘Sorry’ for Colonial Past (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“An Islamist demand for France to apologize and pay compensation for its colonial presence in Tunisia was rejected Wednesday in the Tunisian parliament after a heated 14-hour debate that confirmed the North African country sought to embrace the future rather than perpetually revisit the past.

Opponents won the day by arguing such a move would spell economic disaster, given France is Tunisia’s top trade partner and primary foreign investor, noting the proposed legislation would do nothing to re-write history. France is also home to one million Tunisians.

The motion’s supporters said an apology is necessary to “turn the page on this dark period” in the relationship of the two countries and give them equal standing.

France occupied Tunisia as a protectorate for 75 years, from 1881 until 1956. French soldiers only left the Muslim-majority territory in 1963.

The AP reports the motion to demand an “official and public apology from the French state for crimes, assassinations, torture, rape, forced deportation and looting of natural resources” was presented by the Islamist nationalist party Coalition Al Karama, which has just 19 lawmakers in the 217-seat assembly.

The call was rejected early Wednesday after 14 hours of debate, with 77 legislators voting in favor, 46 abstentions and five votes against. To be adopted, it needed an absolute majority of 109 votes.

The defeated bill also demanded “compensation to the Tunisian state and to all those who suffered the pain of colonization.”

“We are not animated by any bitterness or hatred, but such apologies will heal the wounds of the past,” argued the president of Al Karama, Seifeddine Makhlouf.

He used the example of Germany, which apologized to France after the Nazi occupation, noting the two countries “are now allies and the leading partners in Europe.”

However, an outcry followed when he attacked the first president of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba, calling him “the servant of France.”

Tunisia in recent years has sought to re-engage with Europe and move to modernise both its society and culture.

This democratic transition has given Tunisia a new constitution, opened the way to free elections and reinforced equality among sexes — all while Tunisia battled deadly Islamic terrorist attacks, including on tourists at the famed Bardo Museum and at a resort hotel outside the seaside town of Sousse.

As Breitbart News reported, last year Tunisia became the first Arab nation to implement sex-ed in its schools.

The Tunisian Education Ministry joined with the U.N. agency, the Tunisian Sexual and Reproductive Health Association, and the Arab Institute for Human Rights to create a sex-ed curriculum that will be implemented beginning in kindergarten.”

  14. UK Bishops Call for Repeal of ‘Illegal Working’ Offense for Migrants (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“The Catholic Bishops from Scotland and England & Wales have issued a joint statement criticizing the Immigration Bill before Parliament and urging the elimination of the offense of “illegal working” for undocumented migrants.

In their statement, the bishops call for a series of amendments to the bill, such as a significant permanent reduction in the use of detention, a time limit on detention, and a reduction in the minimum income threshold for family visas.

The bishops’ rationale in wishing to do away with the crime of illegal working is that “fear of prosecution currently deters people from escaping abusive employment practices or presenting themselves to the police.”

“Those perpetrating the horrors of modern slavery will seek every chance to take advantage of new immigration policies,” the bishops declare.

“One particularly important step towards protecting people from exploitation would therefore be to repeal the offence of illegal working, so that no victim is at risk of being punished,” they propose.

The bishops also note that the UK “remains the only European country without a time limit on detention,” a situation that has “devastating consequences for the wellbeing of vulnerable individuals who find themselves detained including some victims of torture, survivors of trafficking and people fleeing religious persecution in their home countries.”

“It also has a significant impact on families who are separated with no indication of when they might be reunited,” they propose.

While the bishops have criticized the Immigration Bill as overly harsh, migration sceptics such as Nigel Farage have suggested on the contrary the proposed legislation introduces a number of changes that could produce an increase in migrant numbers.

“They’ve set the barriers for educational ability and income earning potential so low that actually numbers coming into the UK could increase, not decrease as a result of this and then we have to question their competence,” warned the Brexit Party leader.

The bishops’ statement also calls for changes to the clergy visa system, saying that the new Tier 2 visas more than double the costs incurred by parishes for bringing in religious workers to help attend to the needs of the faithful.

Scotland’s lead Bishop for migrants and refugees, Bishop William Nolan, said that the bishops “strongly urge the Government to accept amendments addressing these important issues and hope that MPs from all parties will take this opportunity to help create a more just and humane immigration system.””

  15. British Border Force Union Afraid That Fingerprinting Illegal Migrants Will Result in Violence (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“A trade union that represents the UK Border Force warned that if officials are forced to take the fingerprints of illegal migrants, then they may face a violent backlash from new arrivals.

Home Secretary Priti Patel has ordered British immigration control officials working at Eurotunnel, which connects the UK and France under the English Channel, to take the fingerprints of migrants illegally trying to board trains with the purpose of reaching the UK.

The Home Office argued that the policy would make it easier for migrants to be returned to France, should they successfully reach the UK again on a later attempt, according to the BBC.

The fingerprinting scheme would provide evidence that an illegal migrant had been in France, which theoretically would make their return to French officials easier, under the European Union’s Dublin Regulation.

In response to the decision, a spokeswoman for the ISU trade union that represents front-line immigration officers, Lucy Moreton, said: “That is quite a challenge, particularly if they really don’t want to have their fingerprints taken.”

“We don’t have digital fingerprint recorders, we only have wet ink. So you have literally got to hold their hands and roll their fingers from side to side to get a print. That’s quite a lot of avenue to fight back if that’s what they want to do. I’m very concerned about the levels of violence that will result and the fact that there will be, eventually, staff and migrants injured,” Moreton added.

The policy which was previously in place until 2010 has been reinstated amidst growing waves of illegal boat migrants crossing the Channel from France.

The Border Force trade union representative said that when the policy was in place: “All it resulted in was a lot of physical violence and individuals — both our staff and migrants being injured. And migrants deliberately harming themselves in order to damage their fingertips so that their fingerprints can’t be taken.”

“That’s not something that anyone wants to be forced to do,” she added while neglecting to mention that those entering into the country legally would not face the same treatment.

So far this year the number of illegal crossings is believed to have exceeded the total number of 2019, with over 1,000 migrants successfully reaching British shores since the national lockdown for British citizens was introduced in March.

Last week, a record 166 illegal migrants attempted the boat journey across the Channel in a single day, flying in the face of Home Secretary Priti Patel’s promise to make illegal crossings an “infrequent phenomenon by spring 2020”.

The crossings have been facilitated by French government ships, who were exposed by Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage to be escorting the small migrant filled rubber boats into British territorial waters, where they were handed over to the Border Force.”

  16. BLM Protests: Police Union Accuses Khan of Failing to Look After London Cops (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“Italian intelligence agencies have warned of a new surge of migrants in the coming weeks, stating at that least 20,000 migrants are ready to leave Libya and head for Europe.

The claims were made public by former Italian interior minister and populist Senator Matteo Salvini who stated: “Our secret services launch the invasion alarm, with at least 20,000 immigrants ready to leave for Italy.”

Salvini went on to add that the warning comes as the leftist Italian government has offered temporary amnesty for illegal immigrants and has opened ports to migrant transport NGOs, Italian newspaper Il Giornale reported on Monday.

The report comes as migrant transport NGO Sea-Watch has again set sail over the weekend for the Libyan search and rescue (SAR) zone located several miles off the country’s coast.

“The SeaWatch3 sets sail! After more than three months in the port of Messina, we are finally heading to the search and rescue zone north of the Libyan coast again, where we are urgently needed,” the organisation wrote on Saturday.

According to Il Giornale, migrant landings have significantly increased since the start of this year until June 5th with 5,461 new arrivals compared to 1,878 last year. That number is even with the severe lockdown measures imposed by Italy to fight the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus.

Italian media have also raised the possibility that a new wave of migrants could be used by Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj to “blackmail” the leftist coalition government into giving greater support in their conflict with the forces led by General Khalifa Haftar.

The claims expressed by Senator Salvini come just over a week after a United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) report claimed that as many as 650,000 migrants were currently in Libya and looking to leave for Europe.

“Information from Libya, where around 650,000 migrants and refugees are currently registered, suggests that the Covid-19 public health crisis has not discouraged people from trying to reach Europe,” the report stated.”

  18. Something rotten in Chicago re the Dr. Gugino story.

One cop slightly shoved back a 75-year old White man who had approached them to scan their phone signals. Man falls backward, straight as a board on the ground. A stream of blood from his ear on the sidewalk is visible.

They said he was admitted in critical condition with brain injuries. He was stable the next day.

HERE we see him upright chatting on his phone just before ambulance loading.

Notice also he managed to cross his feet on the ground.

  19. MEMRI – Jordanian Professor Ahmad Nofal: Allah Sent COVID-19 to Subdue Those Who Refuse to Surrender to Him

Jordanian professor Ahmad Nofal, who teaches Islamic law at the University of Jordan, said in a May 15, 2020 show on Yarmouk TV (Jordan) that because “modern” people who are all about modernization have refused to surrender to Allah, he has sent upon them his tiniest creature – the coronavirus – to subdue them.

He chuckled and said: “You may laugh a little, but you shall cry a great deal.”

  20. Explosive quotes from Chicago aldermen’s leaked confrontation with Mayor Lightfoot

Leaked audio revealed Chicago aldermen and Mayor Lori Lightfoot melting down on Sunday over their inability to stop violence and looting in their city.

Lightfoot held a conference call briefing all 50 aldermen on Sunday as the city descended into chaos and violence. The recording paints a raw picture of just how bad the rioting and looting became across Chicago — and just how helpless the city’s leaders were to stop it.

Here are the 17 most explosive quotes from the leaked audio, which follows (warning: explicit language).

  21. Health minister: Coronavirus spike ‘alarming and dramatic’

The country will be doing more to enforce the Health Ministry’s primary coronavirus regulations as the number of people infected with COVID-19 surges throughout Israel.…

A decision was made to activate the police, local authority inspectors and even population and immigration inspectors – each according to his strengths – to enforce regulations in four areas: wearing masks, congregating in groups that are too large or too close together, complying with the “Purple Ribbon” standard for businesses, and enforcing isolation of patients and people who have come in contact with them.…

…Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, who said that the government did not yet have intention to “go backwards” and begin reinstating closures. Rather, he said, that strict enforcement of the regulations would be instated.

Edelstein compared violating regulations to breaking traffic laws.

“Anyone who walks around without a mask is like someone who drove at 160 kilometers per hour,” he said. “In 2019, 349 people were killed in traffic accidents.”
Dare-devil driving consistently kills and maims. A frequent comment: “If the Arabs were to present young Israelis with gifts of fast cars, the body count would be higher than they’d achieve in military engagement.”

  22. Car Rams Into Group of People in Munich, Three Injured, Police Say (sputniknews, Jun 10, 2020)

“A large area in Munich has been cordoned off due to a ramming incident, the police said in a statement, adding that there are significant traffic obstructions in the area around Ungererstrasse and Domagkstrasse.

A car rammed into a group of people in Munich on Wednesday afternoon, leaving three people injured, the police department said in a statement.

According to the police, the six people who were in the car got out of the vehicle and “acted violently against victims”. The perpetrators of the attack are still on the run, reports say. The area of the ramming incident was promptly cordoned off and a large-scale search was initiated. According to unconfirmed information, there is some evidence that the people knew each other.”

  23. 98,000 Migrant-Crisis Asylum Seeker Arrivals Given Permanent Swedish Residency (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“A total of 98,867 asylum seekers have been given permanent residency in Sweden since the height of the migrant crisis, out of 163,456 who applied for asylum that year.

During the height of the European migrant crisis in 2015, Sweden took in over 163,000 asylum seekers, the highest per capita in Europe and one of the highest total numbers, despite the country’s comparatively small population. Some 80,000 entered the country in two months before the government enacted border controls in November of that year.

According to a report from Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Radio, 60 per cent of the asylum seekers who arrived that year were granted permanent residency in Sweden, while the rest were granted temporary residency.

Mikael Ribbenvik, Director General of the Migration Board, spoke to the broadcaster, saying: “We had desk lawyers standing in ports and at stations in yellow vests. We arranged 64,000 accommodation places during these months. We got everyone in the system, which was important.”

“Since many people were granted residence permits during those years, this results in increases in applications for family reunification. And then, about five years later, there will also be an increase in the number of citizenship cases,” he added.

Family unification has been a major source of new migrants in the years since 2015, according to several annual migration reports released by the Swedish Migration board.

Between 2010 and 2020, Sweden granted 1.2 million residency permits, with around a quarter being granted for family reunification or 365,000 in total. Asylum permits over the same period amounted to 295,000, while work permits totalled 300,000.

The influx of new people to Sweden has been so dramatic in recent years — and heavily impacting a national population that was comparatively small to start with — over one in five of all people in the country is now born abroad, with 1.9 million residing in the country.

73 per cent of Sweden’s population growth is down to mass migration, and the country has the second-highest rate of growth in the EU.

A rise in family reunification permits has been met with criticism from some, including Anders Knape, the head of SKL, an organisation that represents Swedish municipalities and county councils.

“Much of the family migration will end up, at least initially, in places that already have a strained situation,” Knape said.

Many municipalities across the country have begun to face real financial difficulties after accepting many migrants, including Bengtsfors, which claimed the added costs could force the municipal government to declare bankruptcy without national government aid.”

  24. Government Should ‘Immediately’ Defund Police, Says British Sociologist (breitbart, Jun 10, 2020)

“A British sociology professor has outlined the areas of policing that he believes the government should “immediately” defund, with the ultimate goal of completely eliminating law enforcement in the United Kingdom.

Dr Adam Elliott-Cooper, a sociologist at the University of Greenwich, said that funding for the police should be diverted into “women’s refuges, youth services and greater funding for mental health provision, particularly for young people” over the next year.

In an interview with Vice magazine, Elliott-Cooper pinpointed four areas of law enforcement currently carried out by London’s Metropolitan Police that should be divested immediately.

Under the sociologist’s scheme, the first aspect of policing that should be defunded is “drugs policing and drugs stop and search” which he claims disproportionately impacts people of minority backgrounds.

“The second one would be disbanding the Prevent agenda,” which aims to deradicalise primarily young people who are at risk of joining extremist groups or committing acts of terror.

Elliott-Cooper claimed that the strategy “has been used to criminalise lots of communities,” of non-white backgrounds, as a major focus of the programme is on radical Islamic terror.

The disproportionality of racial makeup in those targeted by Prevent under suspicion of being vulnerable to jihadi movements may be explained, perhaps, by the fact that just eight per cent of Britain’s Islamic population is white.

In 2019, Professor of Human Rights at the University of Bristol Steven Greer noted that even “the European Court of Human Rights has held, if a terrorist threat emanates from a particular minority, the fact that counter-terrorist initiatives impact disproportionately upon it does not, for this reason alone, mean that its members have suffered discrimination”.

The third area of policing that Elliot-Cooper has targeted for defunding are operations taken against gangs in the capital, which again he claims criminalises “mainly Black communities” and is in his estimation very costly.

Last year, London saw its highest number of murders in a decade, with 149 people dying in homicides under the watch of Mayor Sadiq Khan. The spike in numbers was largely a result of increased levels of violence committed by criminal gangs, which were responsible for nearly a third of all murders in 2019.

The final area of policing he targetted for removal was the so-called ‘hostile environment policy’ that seeks to disincentivise illegal migrants from remaining in the country.

“The way in which the police are raiding homes, workplaces, and institutions, just to try to find people who are undocumented – and immigration deportations and detentions. They make no improvement on public safety, and are very resource-intensive,” Elliot-Cooper claimed.

According to the immigration pressure group, Migration Watch UK, some 70,000 illegal migrants enter the country every year. The group also reported that 77 per cent of the public see illegal immigration as a ‘serious problem’.

The government has admitted that every illegal migrant “costs the taxpayer between £4,255 and £7,820 per year through the use of public services such as health, education and welfare benefits”, displaces native-born British job seekers, and bolsters the ranks of organised crime in the country.

A former Metropolitan police officer turned anti-racism campaigner, Adam Pugh, admitted that the campaign to defund the police would likely be a several-year project, saying: “There is no quick-fix solution. There can only be a long term strategy with regards to abolition or defunding the police as a strategy.”

“The point is that policing isn’t working, and will never work – I say that as somebody who has been a police officer. Reform hasn’t been working for a long time,” Pugh said.

“We now need to move beyond reform and begin to reimagine what our entire justice system might look like, taking steps towards the actualisation of that goal,” he added.

The call to defund the police comes amidst growing pressure from the radical leftist Black Lives Matter movement that has engulfed the country in protests following the death of American George Floyd. The British branch of the movement BLMUK has raised over $1 million in a crowdfunding campaign that promises to spend the money on the “abolition of the police”.”

A secretly recorded meeting between the editors-in-chief of The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine reveal both men bemoaning the “criminal” influence big pharma has on scientific research.

According to Philippe Douste-Blazy, France’s former Health Minister and 2017 candidate for WHO Director, the leaked 2020 Chattam House closed-door discussion between the EIC’s – whose publications both retracted papers favorable to big pharma over fraudulent data.

“Now we are not going to be able to, basically, if this continues, publish any more clinical research data because the pharmaceutical companies are so financially powerful today, and are able to use such methodologies, as to have us accept papers which are apparently methodologically perfect, but which, in reality, manage to conclude what they want them to conclude,” said Lancet EIC Richard Horton.

According to Douste-Blazy, the the EICs said the influence wielded by big Pharma to influence publications is “criminal.”
