This video is from January 2017, and shows how Russia even then thought that there was something very wrong with the narrative which turned into an impeachment effort against President Trump.

Putin ought to know if the dossier is fake or not, Steele went to “retired KGB” people asking for dirt on Donald Trump. The “retired” people went to their friends who were still working for Russian Intel and probably started the conversations with, You Aren’t Going to Believe This. I don’t know how high up the chain this went before the decision was made to fake the Dossier but if it didn’t require Putin’s approval he was informed of the action.
What surprises me is how he and other members of the Russian Government can talk about this scandal with out breaking out in laughter.
You’re right. Of course he knew. It was no skin offbhis nose to just watch to see what happened.
It also gave him and his people an opportunity to spread distrust in out elections and our government. The fact that Steele went to “retired” KGB people makes we wonder if 1) was he really that stupid? Or 2) was he a Russian asset during his entire career? It is always possible that both questions can be honestly answered yes.
Yeah, sure, Donald Trump yells sometimes and he says stuff he probably shouldn’t say, but to paint him as some kind of out-of-control lecherous pig is way off the mark. The guy doesn’t even drink and he’s been used to being scrutinized since he was a kid at his father’s side. And Putin’s logic is sound. The guy runs beauty contests and beds some of the most beautiful women in the world so why would he be forcing himself on some woman on a plane or hiring Russian prostitutes to pee on him? Why is there no record of such behavior in the past? It’s obviously bullshit and Putin saw through it in a second just like I did…
Personally, I find this whole Russia thing to be painful because I thought we might be ushering in a new era of friendship with them but now even saying, “Hi!” will get you charged with some kind of “collusion”. The Russian People are great and it would be just fine with me if we were all friends…unless that is impossible for some reason…
The only problem I have with Putin is that in nearly every video I see of him, at least that we get translated, he is really reasonable and I mostly agree with him.
But he is a dictator. He is also ex-KGB and he does a fair amount of remote control killing with his signature on it.
Best to keep eyes open I guess.
History tells us that most of the worst dictators were people who had the ability to be charismatic and make people like them. Stalin was a glaring exception to this but most impressed the people who talked to them.
As President Reagan said “Trust But Verify”, since he was a conservative this statement is being shoved down the memory hole.
