A doctor who oversees an emergency room at a Bronx hospital hard-hit by an onslaught of COVID-19 patients and who himself was infected with the coronavirus says it is time to lift the lockdown so those suffering from other ailments can be treated.
Daniel G. Murphy, a physician who chairs the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in The Bronx, called the pandemic ‘the worst health-care disaster of my 30-year career, because of its intensity, duration and potential for lasting impact.’
But he believes that ‘a significant degree of natural herd immunity’ has also been developed which can allow the public to resume normal life.
‘The lasting impact is what worries me the most,’ Murphy writes in the New York Post.

–WORCESTER, MA (reported 4/26/20): SARS-Cov2 antibody testing (by University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center) of Worcester staff at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility revealed that 20% (16/80) tested positive, and were asymptomatic.
–Miami-Dade’s population, based on serological testing of a representative sample of n=1400, had a SARS-Cov2 antibody prevalence of 6%, ~165,000 infections, ~16-fold confirmed cases; 270 deaths/165,000= crude CFR of 0.16%

Defiance:
Well talk about BS. Say you live in A and you want to go to B to get some groceries. You would take the shortest route (especially when you know you do not want to leave a carbon footprint), so as you drive along you see a native person with a sign saying essential services only otherwise take the detour that takes you 5 miles out of your way.
The natives are so worried about covid19, they do not want you driving through there territory.
The road is a provincial highway so I decided I had.the right to drive on it. I did not stop at checkpoint Charlie.
While I was in the grocery store I noticed several natives. Why are they not shopping at the store within their territory if they have banned people from driving through their territory?
On my way home I stopped at checkpoint Charlie because I wondered why the detour. The men in front of me were turned around.
I pulled up and asked if this was checkpoint Charlie. The checkpoint man asked me where I was going. I told him I was going to A and he asked me what was there. I told him “my home”. He told me I could go ahead but I was to go directly home and not stop any where. He smiled and said “Have a nice day”. I said “you too” and drove off.
I question the right he has to stop me driving on a provincial highway but the conversation did not go there.
I think the natives have made a big mistake, an economic mistake. Friends and neighbours were made to drive around. Will they, when this is all over go to restaurant, gas station, the lumber company, etc within the territory, methinks not, I certainly will not.
The good part of the story is I learned the In gas in A, where I live is now 10 cents a liter cheaper than the gas within their territory.
We are all in this together, well sort of.

Isn’t Canadian infrastructure national? Prior to construction territory is acquired by eminent domain for use by the public.

From what I have seen Trudeau is letting the Canadian Tribes block highways, railroads and commit other acts contrary to good order. Some possibly most of the actions take place off their land but no one is allowed to say anything about it. JohnnyU has commented on this several times.

8/ Serological testing is not reliable. At least not yet. False positives are common. Cross-reactivity to other coronaviruses – like four that cause the common cold – make current test results wildly inaccurate.

It’s interesting to see who focuses on data from current antibody tests and the conclusions they draw from the results. Compare their findings to the political position they take on the pandemic.
Everybody shouting “open up!” cites improbable numbers of Wuhan exposure. You can make a good case for “open up” without using statistics from flawed tests. Giving assurances to individuals based on false positives is dangerous. Irresponsible.
Epidemiology lends itself to politics. You can argue almost any conclusion you seek based on which data sets you choose to present. I thought Andy Bostom was an internist. Anyway, he’s even more political than most epidemiologists.
(btw, I tend to agree with Andy’s politics.)
The Lancet article I linked quotes a notorious Chinese virologist. A person too interested in coronaviruses NOT to be a person OF interest to those who investigate the origins of this outbreak.
