Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

    “Catalan police on Friday reported that two people had been detained after smashing a car into the interior of Barcelona Airport’s Terminal 1.

    According to regional police chief Eduard Sallent, the two perpetrators shouted Islamist slogans and investigators aren’t excluding any possible motives.

    “When they were detained, they made an Islamist-type proclamation and we do not know yet what their intention was”, Eduard Sallent said during a news conference.

    The police chief added that the perpetrators were Albanians. At the same time, police bomb squad Tedax confirmed that there were no explosives in the car.

    The incident comes as Spain remains in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, while people are allowed to leave their homes only to get essentials.”

    “…NBC News has cited several unnamed US sources as saying on Thursday that the coronavirus pandemic prompted President Donald Trump last week to refrain from ordering a more aggressive response to an Iraqi paramilitary group’s recent attack on American troops in Iraq. The US sees Kataib Hezbollah as an Iranian proxy.

    According to the sources, Trump told his senior national security advisers that such a retaliation could tarnish the US’s image now that Iran is grappling with COVID-19, which has already claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people in the Islamic Republic.

    “The president has a pretty good sense of what type of action to take in response to these attacks”, one of the sources said, referring to the US military’s retaliatory steps as “proportional”.
    The sources warned of Washington’s “proactive” actions aimed at preventing another attack, adding, “we recognise that there’s an ongoing threat; we don’t always have to be counterpunching”.

    National security adviser Robert O’Brien, for his part, told Fox Business on Monday that the White House’s “eye is not off the ball” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    “While we are focused on corona at home […] we are keeping an eye on those who would do us harm. If anyone thinks America is less determined, they are making a big mistake”, he pointed out.

    The remarks come after the US Department of Defence confirmed in a statement last week that American forces had conducted “defensive precision strikes” against five Kataib Hezbollah weapons storage facilities to “significantly degrade their ability to conduct future attacks against Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) coalition forces”. Kataib Hezbollah is an Iraqi Shia paramilitary group.

    “These strikes were defensive, proportional, and in direct response to the threat posed by Iranian-backed Shia militia groups (SMG) who continue to attack bases hosting OIR coalition forces”, the statement said.

    The strike followed a Kataib Hezbollah firing a number of rockets at Camp Taji, an Iraqi base north of Baghdad where US and coalition troops are stationed. At least two US servicemen were killed and 14 other people wounded in the 11 March attack…”

    “Washington reinstated its strict economic sanctions against Tehran in May 2018, when President Trump announced America’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

    In a speech to mark the Persian new year on Friday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, in particular, that the Islamic Republic had managed to capitalise on the US anti-Iranian sanctions.

    “Iran benefited from America’s sanctions. It made us self-sufficient in all areas”, Khamenei emphasised.

    He described 2019 as a “tumultuous year for the Iranian nation”, which he said “began with floods and ended with the coronavirus […]”. Khamenei also expressed hope that Tehran “will overcome all hardships with unity”.

    He made the statement after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the government’s efforts to fight the coronavirus “in the face of the US’s maximum pressure and the inhuman impacts of the sanctions are already remarkable even when compared with the measures taken by other countries”.

    Rouhani added that the renewed US sanctions on his country had “caused about $200 billion direct damages to the Iranian economy in less than two years”.

    This came after Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused the Trump administration of “maliciously tightening illegal US sanctions” against the Islamic Republic, which he claimed is aimed at “draining Iran’s resources needed in the fight against COVID-19”.

    “The world can no longer be silent as US economic terrorism is supplanted by its medical terrorism”, Zarif tweeted earlier this month.

    US Sanctions Against Iran
    The United States has ramped up sanctions on Iran’s oil exports and industries over the past two months, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying in February that President Donald Trump’s administration was advocating for snap-back global curbs on Tehran over the alleged breach of its nuclear commitments.

    In the latest development, the State Department said on Wednesday that the US had slapped new sanctions on seven entities, involved in the sale of Iranian petrochemical products.

    Washington re-imposed its economic sanctions on Tehran in May 2018, when the White House unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), accusing the Islamic Republic of violating its commitments under the agreement.”

    Authorities conducted raids in 10 German states Thursday at premises linked to a group accused of pursuing a mix of anti-government and racist ideology.

    Germany’s top security official, Horst Seehofer, issued a ban on United German Peoples and Tribes, the first time a group associated with the so-called Reichsbuerger movement has been proscribed.

    Reichsbuerger, or Reich citizens, have similarities to the sovereign citizens movements in the United States and elsewhere. They reject the authority of the modern German state and promote the notion of “natural rights,” often mixing this ideology with far-right politics and esoteric conspiracy theories.

    The Interior Ministry said around 400 police officers had seized firearms, propaganda material and small amounts of drugs during the raids on the homes of 21 leading members of the group.

    “We are dealing with a group that distributes racist and anti-Semitic writings and in doing so systematically poisons our free society,” Seehofer said in a statement.

    Authorities say members of the newly banned group, whose activities were focused in Berlin, had issued threats against German officials.

    “At least 25 police and army personnel were killed in an apparent insider attack at a joint military and police base early Friday, Afghan officials said. The attack took place in southern Zabul province, a Taliban stronghold.

    Assadullah Kakar, a provincial council member, said the Taliban carried out the attack, but with the assistance of Afghan police and army personnel inside the base.

    A Ministry of Defense statement released several hours later said the Taliban attack was carried out with inside help, but gave a lower casualty figure of 17 Afghan forces killed — 11 soldiers and six police. It was not immdiately possible to resolve the conflicting accounts

    No one immediately took responsibility, but Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed said he would look into the allegation.

    The attack comes as the U.S. and NATO start a staged withdrawal of their troops, in keeping with a peace deal signed last month between the United States and the Taliban.

    The troop pullout is tied to promises by the Taliban to fight terrorism, including the Islamic State group’s affiliate headquartered in eastern Afghanistan.

    However, Washington has struggled to get Afghanistan’s squabbling politicians to unite behind a single leader to start intra-Afghan negotiations, a critical next step in the U.S.-Taliban deal. Washington has also been critical of the violent attacks carried out be the Taliban targeting Afghan security forces, but not U.S. or NATO personnel.

    Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s spokesman said Friday’s “heinous” attack called into question the Taliban’s commitment to the peace deal.

    Ghani and his rival in last year’s presidential polls had both declared themselves president in rival ceremonies earlier this month. Since then, Washington’s peace envoy who brokered the U.S.-Taliban deal has been meeting the two leaders seeking a compromise. Until now the squabbling has only intensified.”

    Three people have been held for human trafficking and sentenced to 125 years behind prison by a Turkish court over the death of a Syrian toddler, Alan Kurdi, according to Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu. The 3-year-old Kurdi washed up on a beach in Bodrum, in Turkey’s Aegean Mugla province, in 2015.

    The accused were sentenced at the Bodrum High Criminal Court in Mugla, Turkey for the crime of “killing with eventual intent.”

    The death of the toddler came to limelight when the heart-breaking pictures of Kurdi lying with his face down on sea beach went viral. The images went viral on social media platforms with the Turkish hashtag “KiyiyaVuraninsanlik” which means “humanity washed ashore.”

    Twelve refugees drowned that day during a failed attempt to sail to the Greek island of Kos, including the toddler’s 5-year-old brother, Galip, and their mother, Rehen. The incident symbolized the plight of desperate Syrian refugees.

    Abdullah, Kurdi’s father was reportedly the only survivor from their immediate family who took their bodies back to Kobani in Syria for burial.
    According to the state news agency, the traffickers, fugitives from justice, were captured by Turkish security forces last week in the southern province of Adana.

    They were on the run after fleeing during their trial. Many other Turkish and Syrian defendants have also received jail sentences following Kurdi’s death.

    The humanitarian crisis still continues as more than 6.7 million Syrians have fled war-torn Syria since 2011, according to the United Nations.

    Badly-deployed capital results in inefficient, unnecessary enterprises.     “While the Turkish government has closed its border to Greece due to the Coronavirus, migrants are still attempting to storm the border using improvised ladders.

    Footage of the migrants along the Greek border near the Evros river showed them building makeshift ladders using tree trunks and tree branches in order to scale the Greek border fence, which has largely kept out the large numbers of migrants who have assembled in the area.

    The video footage of the migrants circulating on social media was sourced to a report by Greek media outlet Proto Thema, which in turn stated that Turkish media had first published the recordings.

    The paper added that the attempts by the migrants to cross the border near Kastanias were not successful as Greek border officials, supported by the European Union border agency Frontex, were able to repel them.

    According to the Minister for Citizens Protection, Michalis Chrisochoidis, several thousand “provocateurs” remain on the border, mostly comprised of young men.

    “The aim of the Turks is to break our borders and blackmail Europe into a better position,” he said.

    Chrisochoidis stated that most of the families and elderly who had previously been at the frontier had left following the Turkish move to close the border due to fears of spreading coronavirus.

    Chrisochoidis also went on to accuse Turkish forces of throwing tear gas toward the Greek border, a situation which saw the Greeks end up deploying large fans in the area to blow the gas back.

    “In Europe, they did not believe that Greece would withstand this border attack, they were pleasantly surprised by our resistance,” he added.

    Following Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s move to open the border to Europe in late February, Greek authorities have said that over 50,000 migrants attempted to break into Greece, with 410 being arrested.”

    “Almost 600 migrants arrested while crossing to three Greek islands from the Turkish coast opposite have arrived at a facility in northern Greece where they are required to remain pending deportation, authorities say.

    The 598 migrants were sent by boat to the northern port of Kavala and by bus to the facility, northeast of the city of Thessaloniki and near the border with Bulgaria. The migrants will stay in tents and will not be able to leave the camp.

    Red Cross doctors took each arrival’s temperature and asked them about recent bouts of the flu. There has been no information as to their health status.

    The migrants are from a wide array of countries in Asia and Africa. Authorities would not provide a breakdown, but officials said on condition of anonymity that the arrivals did not include Iraqis or Syrians.

    Greece has tightened border controls and has suspended asylum applications since early March, days after Turkey announced that it was opening its borders to migrants and refugees and encouraged them to cross into Greece.”

    Some very ingenious people went about it in a smart, smart way. Figuring out how many cell-phone contracts were cancelled during the outbreak.

    It is difficult for us to imagine just how integrated smart-phone use is in China. You can only pay for purchases using your smart phone (so your social score can be tracked). A few days ago, I posted a video about how Nanjing had dealt with the Wuhan bio-WMD, but I will link it below again, just to demonstrate that life without a smart-phone in China is not really possible.

    Hopefully, this highlights the brilliance of tracking actual pandemic deaths in China by tracking the cancellation of cell-phone contracts.

    Some smart people on the internet did just that:

    While everyone is distracted with the Coronavirus, a New Jersey city just approved changes to its noise control ordinance to allow the Islamic call to prayer to be broadcast five times a day.

    The first call to prayer begins at 6 AM.

    The Paterson City Council voted 5-4 to approve the changes to its noise ordinance — the measure was sponsored by councilman Shahin Khalique.

    Many people showed up to protest the changes to the noise ordinance, including Christian pastors, however it wasn’t enough to stop the insanity.

    Why does China have a high security, Bio-Safety Level-4 (BSL-4) laboratory in Wuhan? What is it, and what does it do? Is it part of a secret Chinese bioweapons research program? Is it related in any way to the novel coronavirus outbreak?

    Considering that Wuhan was the original outbreak of the current COVID-19 virus pandemic, these are important questions that much of the press seems to be ignoring. But it is clear that the Chinese government doesn’t want them asked.

    According to Nature, the respected International Weekly Journal of Science, this unique bio-containment laboratory in Wuhan, built with assistance from France, is only three years old. It was cleared by the Chinese government in 2017 to work with the world’s most dangerous pathogens, but according to the UK’s Daily Mail, it may have only become operational ‘for global experiments on BSL-4 pathogens,’ in January 2018.
