New Jersey officials have warned that ‘many, many, many people’ are at risk of infection after a coronavirus patient gave a false name and address and then walked out of a Newark hospital.
Health officials are desperately trying to track down the woman who remains ‘at large’ on Tuesday after she was tested for the deadly virus on Saturday and went missing before the results came back positive.
The woman had been tested for coronavirus at East Orange General Hospital in Newark on Saturday, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said in a Facebook video Tuesday.
Her test results came back positive and health officials went to the address she had provided on her records to find no one by that name resided there, Baraka said.

Rocket attack in northwest Syria kills 2 Turkish soldiers (abcnews, Mar 19, 2020)

“Two Turkish soldiers were killed Thursday in a rocket attack in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, Turkey’s Defense Ministry said.
A ministry statement said a third soldier was wounded in the attack, which it said was carried out by “radical groups.”
Turkey’s artillery units immediately mounted a powerful retaliation, the ministry said, but did not provide further details.
The attack comes two weeks after Turkey and Russia — which support opposing sides in the Syria conflict — agreed to a cease-fire in Idlib, halting a three-month air and ground campaign by the Syrian government in the rebel-held province.
The offensive killed hundreds and sent 1 million people fleeing toward the Turkish border. It also resulted in rare direct clashes between the Turkish military and Syrian government troops. Some 60 Turkish soldiers have been killed in Idlib since the start of February.
The Turkish defense statement did not identify the group it holds responsible for the attack.”

“The Yemeni Ansarallah forces announced Wednesday that their air force launched missile strikes against several Saudi oil and gas facilities.
“The Saudi enemy received painful strikes in response to its escalation on the ground and air in the battle to liberate Al-Jawf,” Yemen’s Army spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said at a press conference broadcast on Wednesday, Almasirah reported.
“The Air Force conducted 54 operations, including 33 operations targeting several Saudi military and economic sites,” he continued.
“The operations of the air force managed to inflict heavy losses on the enemy in terms of equipment and lives in addition to economic losses as a result of targeting vital installations related to the oil and gas industry,” he added.

“The authorities have suspended the entry and prayer in the outer courtyards of Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Press Agency reported early Friday quoting a statement from the spokesman of the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Affairs.
The temporary suspension, which comes into force on Friday (March 20), is aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic.
“The authority and the security and health agencies decided to halt the presence of people and prayer in the outer courtyards of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s mosque in Madinah staring from Friday (March 20), as part of the precautionary and preventative measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” said the spokesman according to a statement on Twitter.
The General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque calls upon everyone to cooperate with all precautionary measures for the health and safety of the pilgrims of the two holy mosques by preventing the spread of virus among worshipers, the statement added.
The spokesman also said in the statement that the presidency in cooperation with the security and health authorities is taking a number of precautions to prevent the spread of infection in Two Holy Mosques, stressing that the awareness and cooperation of the visitors will contribute to the success of the temporary precautionary measures.”

“A Saudi court is set to examine the charges against a person who was arrested for producing and sharing content on social media, including rumors and news from unknown sources about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in a way affecting public order. “Based on what was filed by the Monitoring Unit at the Public Prosecution in connection with this issue and as per the directive of the Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab, the person was arrested,” said an official source at the Public Prosecution.
“By examining digital evidence and information identifiers, the suspect was arrested, interrogated and charged with producing COVID-19 rumors and news from unknown sources that affect public order and undermine trust in the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the competent authorities,” source said.
The person’s file has been referred to the relevant court, the source said while adding that there is a possibility of awarding him five years of imprisonment and a fine of SR3 million, in addition to confiscation of equipment used for the offense, according to Article 6 of the Saudi Anti-Cyber Crimes Law. “This penalty will also be applicable to everyone who participated in the said crime by agreement, assistance or incitement, and all those who produced, prepared, sent or stored anything that might affect public order through the Internet or a computer,” the source pointed out.

“A Neo-Nazi German group has sent a pigs head and insulting letters to a Turkish publication that recently began broadcasting in Berlin, according to TRT Deutsch‘s editor-in-chief.
The letter was sent to the TRT Deutsch office and was signed by the Prinz Eugen Group, which is named after a special military brigade that was among soldiers during the Nazi era, Anadolu Agency reported.
The editor-in-chief of TRT Deutsch said there was a pig’s head in the package and insults directed at Islam and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Keep building your mosques so that enough space is available for our pigs. Get out of Berlin,” the letter read. The letter also describes Turks and Arabs as “the garbage of Europe”.
Director General of TRT TV Channels ?brahim Eren said in a statement: “Those kind of attacks boost our determination as journalist.”
In 2019, a mosque in Germany run by the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DITIB) received letters insulting Islam, Turks and Arabs and an image of a pig. These were signed PEG, the acronym “Prinz Eugen Gruppe”.”

“The US today imposed sanctions on five UAE-based companies accused of facilitating Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical sales.
“In 2019, these five companies collectively purchased hundreds of thousands of metric tons of petroleum products from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC),” the Treasury Department said in a statement.
The listed firms are Petro Grand FZE, Alphabet International DMCC, Swissol Trade DMCC, Alam Althrwa General Trading LLC, and Alwaneo LLC Co.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin accused Tehran of using oil and petrochemical sales revenues for funding terrorist proxies.

The designations come one day after Washington blacklisted nine companies from South Africa, China and Hong Kong for trading Iranian oil.

“Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci on Thursday sought help from Turkey to mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus known as COVID-19.
Thaci said on Twitter that he had a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “to discuss bilateral cooperation and to seek help to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Kosovo”.
Thaci also praised Turkey’s fight against the virus.
“Kosovo enjoys Turkey’s operational and logistical assistance in efforts to defeat COVID-19. Immensely grateful to Turkey and President Erdogan for the support,” he added.
Kosovo confirmed the first case of coronavirus on March 13.

“The recent decisions made by the European Union and the Turkish government have done nothing but further aggravate what is currently the worst humanitarian catastrophe in Europe, said Oxfam and the Greek Council for Refugees (GRC) in a new report, exactly four years since the “shameful accord between the EU and Turkey”.
A statement released by Oxfam denounced the devastating humanitarian impact on the destiny of tens of thousands of men, women, and children fleeing war and persecution in countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
It said there are currently more than 40,000 asylum seekers trapped in appalling conditions in five refugee camps set up by the EU on the Greek islands, a number six times higher than the effective reception capacity of the structures.
Oxfam and GRC are calling urgently on Greece to provide immediate humanitarian aid to those trapped on the islands and to cancel plans for building new detention camps on the islands.
“Nothing can justify indiscriminate detention of people seeking asylum, nor sending them back to countries where they risk their lives or their freedom,” said Paolo Pezzati, Oxfam Italia policy advisor for humanitarian emergencies.
“At the same time, the member states of the European Union have the humanitarian duty to intervene, taking in the many desperate people who are at the extreme limit in Greece,” he said.
“This is a humanitarian crisis for people fleeing violence, persecution and war,” said Spyros-Vlad Oikonomou, GRC advocacy officer.
“The current situation is a direct consequence of the EU-Turkey deal, which turned people in need of safety and dignity into political bargaining chips. This puts fundamental human rights second to political gain”.”

A major escalation was avoided in the province thanks to an agreement negotiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan on establishing a security corridor that runs six kilometres (3.7 miles) north and south of the M4 highway that connects Latakia to Saraqib.
Earlier in February, local terrorist groups intensified attacks against the Syrian Army, forcing a response in kind. Damascus forces, however, shelled Turkish troops as they were returning the terrorists’ fire, killing 33 servicemen, who, according to Russia, were not supposed to be in the region of operation.
