Poland closes the storm shutters for Wuhan

Getting more serious here in Poland. As of today, all large gatherings cancelled: including at football matches schools, universities. In my city (Lodz) all theatres, concert halls, swimming pools closed too.

(I think Trudeau is waiting until there is no chance of avoiding this disease to create the illusion he is going to do something about it, and when he does, I bet it results in a permanent over reach of government power.)

    All of the authoritarian governments are going to use the Wuhan virus as an excuse to seize more power, power htey won’t willingly give up. I think the main thing the Dems complaining about is the way PT is reacting in ways that will protect the people but won’t give the US government more power. You know how the left >strong> never lets a crisis go to waste everything is an excuse for them to seize more power and limit our freedom.

  3. He gave a full contingent press conference this morning. I figure he knows Canadians have Wuhan-anxiety. He’s throwing in almost $1B to study the situation through various committees.

    One Quebec reporter asked him if he was considering shutting down flights from certain affected countries. His reply: There is no need to do so.

    And there we have all we need to know about the spread of Wuhan in Canada. Iranians and Chinese can still travel in and out of their respective countries.

  4. The US approach is seeming to be to offer to coordinate at the local level–same as other infection control–like TB. Let’s see how this works out and start to conceive of re-building after the storm.

    • A couple hours ago we got a robo-call from the Dept of Health, informing us that we now have cases of local transmission. Schools will be out (till they’re cleaned?), town meetings cancelled, etc.

      Why didn’t they notify us last week about the infected locals from Biogen? I know people who were infected, who are sick right now. Otherwise it would’ve been la-de-da.

  6. Trump is a mid- to long-term vision guy. The only way to control serious disease spread is by way of coordinated local, state, and national. And yes, he’s already set up plans to rebuild and never again be in such a situation of hostage control by another nation.

    Expect China’s monopoly on pharmaceuticals to suffer significant losses. Yes, they’ll produce cheaper ingredients but nations no longer will want to put all their eggs in the same basket.

    There is no such thing as full forgiveness when the deed is so atrocious.

    • You are right there, you don’t want your meds or your military weapons built any place besides your nation. China has already threatened to stop shipping meds to the US, I wonder if someone pointed out that in that case we are at war and they are suing a bio weapon of mass destruction. Our retaliation would be a massive nuclear strike.

      Yeah Trump is already planning on rebuilding after the virus stops, in fact if the one or more of the vaccines work the rebuild will start while the virus is still active. China and our other enemies need to stop believing the BS the libs churn out about Trump.
