2. San Francisco declares state of emergency over coronavirus

San Francisco Mayor London Breed (D) declared a state of emergency for the city on Tuesday amid concerns over the international coronavirus outbreak.

While no coronavirus cases have been confirmed in San Francisco, “the global picture is changing rapidly, and we need to step-up preparedness,” Breed said in a statement.

“We see the virus spreading in new parts of the world every day, and we are taking the necessary steps to protect San Franciscans from harm,” she added.

The new state of emergency will allow city officials to assemble resources and personnel to expedite emergency planning measures and boost the ability to deploy a rapid response to a potential coronavirus case in the city. […]

(No cases but declared emergency in a city awash with human faeces and other major diseases. Could this be about getting huge cash from the feds to solve problems they have created themselves?)

3. More on Italy and Wuhan Flu:

Messonnier spoke as the number of coronavirus cases grew worldwide. Italy reported a 45% single-day increase in infections. Italian officials reported 10 deaths and 322 confirmed coronavirus cases. (No link yet)

4. Italy scrambles to contain coronavirus outbreak after admitting hospital mess-up

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has tried to allay fears that the central government is unable to contain the virus, after he was forced to admit that a hospital in the northern town of Codogno had mishandled the region’s first coronavirus case and had contributed to the deadly virus’ spread.

Italy has confirmed 322 cases of the virus, the Italian civil protection agency said Tuesday. That’s the highest number of coronavirus infections outside Asia.

The cases are heavily concentrated in the region of Lombardy where 212 infections have been confirmed. The authorities said Tuesday evening that 11 people have so far died from the virus in the country. […]

Italy has put several cities and towns in the country’s north on lockdown, banning people from entering or leaving affected areas, suspending public events and closing attractions, such as museums, to the public, according to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control. The measure effectively put an estimated 100,000 people under quarantine.

[…]

The rapid spread of the virus in Italy has sparked fears of contagion across the European Union. The EU’s Schengen Area allows people in most member states, as well as many tourists, to move freely between countries without border checks.

(As this site has mentioned many times before, the cost of no national borders is hundreds to hundreds of thousands of micro borders. We certainly did not anticipate this manifestation of that principle, although in hindsight we should have, but clearly the principle is intact)

  1. 2 – The State of Emergency is partially a money grab and partially because PT said that if the California State and City Governments don’t clean up the cities don’t clean up the mess he will use Federal Power to do this.

Considering the various State and Local laws that stop the police from doing anything there is a very good chance that he can nationalize the National Guard on the West Coast and use them in a martial law situtation to clean up the mess. I see massive protests by the Liberal Activist Judges and by the Antifa Types who think hte Guard won’t use force.

The clean up needs to be done before Wuhan Flu goes pandemic in the US and according to the people I talked to at the VA yesterday the precautions being taken are inadequate and at times counter productive. They are taking it as a given the pandemic will hit the US although most of the cases will probably be in the big cities.

  2. Italy’s Conte doing what politicians do best: Blame others. In this case, he’s blaming the hospital for not following protocol although he can’t state what the protocols entailed.

Speaking to people I know, I can confidently say everybody is entering panic mode.
