Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Karlyn Borysenko is a longtime Democrat.

She recently attended a Trump rally and found out is was like nothing she had heard from the media or her liberal friends.

Not only were Trump supporters incredibly friendly to her, she was completely shocked by the positive energy and size of the crowd.

Now she is issuing a warning to members of her party.

    She writes at Medium:

Barclay’s Chief Executive Probed Over Visit To Epstein’s ‘Pedophile Island’
True Daily Staff February 13, 2020 News No Comments

The Chief Executive officer of the massive financial institution Barclays is now being probed for his ties with notorious Billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. As The Daily Mail reports:

Barclays’ American chief executive Jes Staley is being investigated in Britain over his close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein who he visited in Florida when he was serving a jail term for soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Boston-born Mr Staley also admits taking a sailing trip with his wife Debbie to the paedophile’s Caribbean hideaway dubbed ‘paedo island’ in the months before he joined the Canary Wharf-based bank – but insists he cut all contact with him after that.

Prince Andrew’s child abuser friend Epstein also allegedly funneled dozens of wealthy clients to Mr Staley during his time running JP Morgan’s private bank, where customers must have assets of at least $10million.

Barclays today told the London Stock Exchange that their CEO has been ‘transparent’ about the pair’s ‘close’ but ‘professional’ relationship.

  3. NEW YORK CITY –

NYC subway thief thanks Democrats after his 139th arrest, release: ‘Bail reform, it’s lit!’

A New York City man who’s now been arrested 139 times thanked Democrats for guaranteeing his immediate release despite repeatedly swiping hundreds of dollars from unsuspecting subway commuters since the state’s new bail reform law went into effect Jan. 1.

Charles Barry, 56, has been arrested six times since the start of this year. He’s been released each time without having to post bail under New York’s new bail reform law since his alleged offenses were nonviolent, the New York Daily News reported. In the past, Barry’s served several stints in state prison and has a lengthy record, including six felonies, 87 misdemeanors and 21 missed court hearings, the newspaper reported, citing court records.

“Bail reform, it’s lit!” Barry yelled to reporters Thursday outside the NYPD Transit District 1 headquarters in the Columbus Circle station before officers transported him to Manhattan Central Booking. “It’s the Democrats! The Democrats know me and the Republicans fear me. You can’t touch me! I can’t be stopped!”

After his most recent arrest Thursday, Barry was held in custody for about 36 hours until his Saturday morning arraignment hearing in his Manhattan Criminal Court. He was then released before trial without paying bail. He had two warrants out for his arrest for missing court dates related to past alleged subway theft, including one instance in January when he allegedly snatched a $50 bill out of a woman’s hand while she was trying to buy a Metro card at a Bryant Park station machine.

Officers arrested him Thursday after he was spotted jumping a subway turnstile in Penn Station. Barry, a career criminal, has repeatedly duped subway-goers by dressing as MTA officials and robbing people after offering to help them buy their tickets, police said.

“I’m famous! I take $200, $300 a day of your money, cr—-r! You can’t stop me!” Barry shouted to reporters. “It’s a great thing. It’s a beautiful thing. They punk’ed people out for bullsh– crimes.”

  5. UN Says Libya Arms Embargo a ‘Joke’
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2134676/un-says-libya-arms-embargo-joke

“An arms embargo aimed at curbing fighting in Libya has become meaningless because of violations and it is imperative that those who breach it are held to account, a senior UN official said on Sunday.

“The arms embargo has become a joke, we all really need to step up here,” UN Deputy Special Representative to Libya Stephanie Williams said after a meeting of foreign ministers to follow up on a Berlin summit last month that agreed to uphold the embargo. Fighting has continued despite a call for a truce.

“It’s complicated because there are violations by land, sea, and air, but it needs to be monitored and there needs to be accountability,” Williams told a news conference, adding that Libya was now awash with advanced weapons.

A joint statement issued on Sunday by 13 countries involved in Libya, included Egypt, UAE, and Turkey, said there had been a discussion on the “deplorable” arms embargo violations and “renewed determination to contribute to its thorough implementation.”

However, there was no mention of how the embargo would be monitored, enforced or whether there would be any consequences for violating it.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said he wanted EU foreign ministers to make a decision on Monday on their role in monitoring the embargo.

“Everyone needs to know that – if they violate the embargo in future – then they violate a UN resolution and that this can’t remain without consequences,” Maas said, without elaborating.”

  6. Grandson of Muslim Brotherhood Founder Faces More Rape Accusations
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2132586/grandson-muslim-brotherhood-founder-faces-more-rape-accusations

“Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan has been charged with raping two women in 2015 and 2016 besides two others he was already facing accusations over, his lawyer told Agence France Presse this week.

Ramadan, who is the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder, denied the charges. He was a professor at Oxford University until he was compelled to resign over the charges.

The 57-year-old Ramadan appeared before investigating magistrates in Paris, as charges were added relating to two other women who were identified by investigators from photos found on his computer.

“There is a desire to pursue Tariq Ramadan at all costs and against the evidence,” his lawyer Emmanuel Marsigny told AFP.

    “This case is becoming grotesque.”

Ramadan’s case became public end of Oct. 2017 when feminist activist Henda Ayari and ‘Christelle’ filed a lawsuit against him accusing him of rape in 2009 and 2012.”

  7. Car bomb kills two in Turkish-controlled Syrian town
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/car-bomb-kills-two-turkish-controlled-syrian-town

“A car bomb attack on Sunday killed two people and wounded five in a Syrian border town controlled by Turkish forces, Turkey’s Defence Ministry said.

The explosion occurred in Tal Abyad, which has been held by Turkish forces and Syrian proxies since Ankara launched a military operation against a Kurdish militia in October 2019, AFP reported. The town has since seen several car blasts that have killed dozens of civilians.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing. Still, the ministry blamed the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Ankara sees as a “terrorist” offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)…”

  8. Oman sees biggest Gulf clash risk in Strait of Hormuz
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200216-oman-sees-biggest-gulf-clash-risk-in-strait-of-hormuz/

“The risk of a military confrontation is higher in the Strait of Hormuz than anywhere else in the Gulf region, Oman’s foreign minister said, due in part to the growing number of military vessels from different countries that are guarding it.

The waterway between Iran and Oman – 33 km (21 miles) wide at its narrowest point – is the conduit for some 30% of all crude and other oil liquids traded by sea.

Friction between Iran and the West had led several nations to send task forces to guard shipping there, and Washington has blamed Tehran for attacks on international merchant vessels in or near the area, something Tehran denies.

“There are a lot of military ships in the Hormuz (area) and our concern is there could be a mistake,” Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah said late on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference.

That would make that area the riskiest flashpoint in the Gulf over the coming months, he added.

Iran cannot legally close the waterway unilaterally because part of it is in Omani territorial waters. However, ships that sail it pass through Iranian waters, which are under the responsibility of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Navy…”

  9. EU must develop ‘appetite for power’, Borrell says
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-security-europe/eu-must-develop-appetite-for-power-borrell-says-idUSKBN20A0BX

“European Union governments need to be willing to intervene in international crises or risk prolonging paralysis in their foreign policy, the EU’s top diplomat said on Sunday.

The EU is the world’s largest trading bloc but it often fails to speak with one voice on foreign policy because its policy-making requires consensus among members. EU governments are divided on issues from Libya to Venezuela.

“Europe has to develop an appetite for power,” the EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell told the Munich Security Conference, stressing that did not only mean military power.

“We should be able to act … not everyday making comments, expressing concern,” he told leaders, lawmakers and diplomats.

With its economic power, the bloc has been able to boast of a “soft power”, but its influence in the world has waned, partly because U.S. President Donald Trump’s “America First”‘ policies have undermined European priorities…”

“Gunmen killed a TV and radio journalist in Somalia’s Afgooye district on Sunday, police said.

Abdiwali Ali Hassan, 25, was shot several times and died on his way to hospital, Captain Abdikadir Osman, Afgooye’s police commander, told Reuters.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killing in the district which is 25km (15 miles) outside the capital Mogadishu.

The Somali Journalists Syndicate condemned the murder and called for a quick investigation.

“We call on the Somali Federal government and local authorities to … bring the killers to justice,” said the syndicate’s secretary general, Abdalle Ahmed Mumin.”

  11. Turkish jets neutralize 8 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq
    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkish-jets-neutralize-8-pkk-terrorists-in-northern-iraq-152092

“Turkish jets have neutralized eight PKK militants in an operation in northern Iraq, the country’s Defense Ministry announced on Feb. 15.

The militants were neutralized in the Hakurk region, with a senior member of the terror group among them, the ministry said on Twitter.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” to imply the militants in question surrendered, captured or killed.

PKK militants often use northern Iraq to plan cross-border attacks in Turkey.

Meanwhile, a total of 450 people, allegedly linked to the PKK terror group, were detained over the weekend in operations in 37 provinces, the Interior Ministry announced on Feb. 15.

During the operations, police seized equipment and documents at the suspects’ addresses, including a number of long-barreled firearms, a shotgun and a shotgun shell.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women and children.”

“Turkey’s top diplomat said on Sunday that the country underlined the importance of a political solution to the conflict in Libya, as well as stopping Haftar’s aggression at the first follow-up meeting to a recent cease-fire in the north African country.

“As Turkey, we stressed that the only solution is a political one, and to achieve this, Haftar’s aggression and violations must be stopped,” Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters after the ministerial meeting.

The next meeting on Libya will take place in Rome, though the date is yet to be decided, he added…”
