Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Afghan Rights Group Investigating Video Of Woman Being Stoned To Death

Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) says it is investigating video footage that shows an Afghan woman being stoned to death.

The two-minute clip shows a group of men throwing rocks at a covered woman who is lying in a hole that has been dug in the ground. A crowd of onlookers can be heard shouting “Hit her!” and “Allahu Akbar!”

The woman’s cries and screams can be heard.

The AIHRC told RFE/RL that it is trying to discover exactly when and where the video was shot, and why the woman was killed.

The Taliban claims the footage is from the same October 2015 stoning that RFE/RL previously obtained footage of — a case in which a 19-year-old woman in the central province of Ghor was killed for alleged adultery.

The Taliban also said the stoning had been carried out by a pro-government militia commander.

But local officials blamed Taliban militants for the 2015 execution. The victim, identified as Rokhshana, had been accused of having premarital sex with her fiance. The incident took place in the village of Ghalmin on the outskirts of Firoz Koh, the provincial capital.

But Afghan journalists and activists say the new footage, which was first uploaded on social media on January 30, documents a more recent stoning in the Taywara district of Ghor Province.

Ghor, a mountainous and remote province in Afghanistan’s central highlands, is one of the most impoverished and unstable areas of the country. The provincial government’s power extends little beyond Firoz Koh.

The Taliban and dozens of illegal, armed groups run by former warlords and militia leaders are active in Ghor — a key transit route for shipments through Afghanistan of weapons and opium.

    ‘Atrocious Acts’

The new footage prompted outrage from Afghan social-media users. Many have blamed the Taliban.

The Taliban is locked in peace negotiations with the United States and has held talks with Afghan politicians about a political solution to end Afghanistan’s 18-year-old war.

The peace talks have provoked controversy among some Afghans who view the Taliban as terrorists who should not be negotiated with.

“I am utterly shocked and saddened after I watched a video on Twitter in which a group of Taliban is stoning an innocent woman,” Sediq Sediqqi, the spokesman for President Ashraf Ghani, wrote on Twitter on February 1. “Taliban’s cruelty and atrocity under the name of Islam is a crime against humanity.”

In response, the Taliban said on Twitter that the punishment of stoning for adultery is an “Islamic ruling that cannot be rejected by any Muslim.”

But the Taliban said it was not involved. It claimed the recently uploaded video showed a stoning carried out in 2015 by Sa’eedi Yar, the commander of a pro-government militia.

The Taliban’s claim failed to quell a flood of condemnation directed at the militant group.

“The Taliban stoned this woman a few days ago in Ghor Province,” Laila Haidari, an Afghan activist, posted on Twitter on February 1. “But where in the world does a group claiming to build a state commit such atrocious acts?”

“A testament that the Taliban, their fragile masculinity, barbarism & inhumane ideology, has not changed,” Afghan rights activist Farangies Shah tweeted on February 1. “Yet the US continues to flirt with the idea of negotiating power with them — under the guise of peace.”

“Cultural poverty and extremism are worse than the catastrophe of explosions and suicide attacks,” Afghan women’s rights activist Fatima Khan tweeted on January 31.

    Capital Punishment

While it is unclear why the woman in the video was punished, unmarried girls in Afghanistan are often restricted to their homes and banned from having contact with men outside of their immediate families.

Brutal punishments often await Afghan women and girls who break social norms.

Death by stoning for convicted adulterers is banned under Afghan law, although offenders face long prison terms for adultery. The penal code, originating in 1976, makes no provision for the use of stoning.

Afghanistan’s constitution prescribes that “no law can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions of the sacred religion of Islam” and sometimes appears at odds with more liberal and democratic elements within it.

Capital punishment was widely practiced by the Taliban regime that ruled much of the country from 1996-2001, when convicted adulterers were routinely shot or stoned in executions conducted in front of large crowds.

In rural areas, where Taliban militants exert considerable influence, some Afghans still turn to Taliban tribunals to settle disputes because many view government bodies as corrupt or unreliable.

The Taliban employs strict interpretations of Shari’a law, which prescribes punishments such as stoning and executions.

In many Taliban-controlled areas, men or women found guilty of having a relationship outside of marriage or an extramarital affair are either sentenced to death or publicly flogged.

Afghan officials often blame the Taliban for such punishments.

  2. Hundreds of convicted terrorists roaming British streets after being granted early release (express, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1237510/terror-news-convicted-terrorists-freed-early-release-british-streets-latest

“HUNDREDS of convicted terrorists are roaming the streets of Britain after being released early from jail like the Streatham knife attacker, the Daily Express can reveal. The alarming statistics emerged as a former Scotland Yard chief described the hordes of extremists as a greater danger to Britain than jihadists returning from war-torn Syria.

Official figures uncovered by the Daily Express show 353 convicted or suspected terrorists have been let out of jail in the past seven years. More than 40 were freed in the 12-month period up to June last year alone. Yesterday former counter-terror chief Sir Mark Rowley called for a radical change in the law to keep the most extreme Islamists behind bars until they are safe for release.

He also urged the Government to get a grip on the rehabilitation of convicted terrorists or face further attacks.

Sir Mark, Britain’s most senior counter-terrorism officer until March 2018, was backed up by a former top civil servant who rang alarm bells about the scale of extremism in prisons four years ago.

Ian Acheson said the “rights of citizens to be protected from murderous outrages” demanded that a small number of fanatical Islamists must be kept in prison indefinitely.

They spoke out in the wake of Sunday’s attack in Streatham by fanatic Sudesh Amman, 20, as a new wave of potentially dangerous terrorists were poised for release.

According to the Henry Jackson Society, another 19 jailed terrorists are due to be released in the next few weeks or months.

Ministers yesterday vowed to take action and Justice Secretary Robert Buckland reminded MPs of the Government’s plans for new legislation to scrap early release for the worst terrorist offenders.

Mr Buckland’s statement came as a former independent reviewer of anti-terror legislation called for the return of house arrest.

Lord Carlile, who stepped down in 2011, said control orders, which restricted the movements of extremists, their activities and who they met, should be re-introduced.

Amman was being secretly tailed by security services and police when he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed and wounded two people in the south London suburb on Sunday afternoon.

Just 60 seconds later, the police revealed last night, he was shot dead. A third victim was hurt by flying glass when a bullet shattered a shop window.

Amman, who once urged a girlfriend to murder her “non?believer” parents, struck just days after walking free from prison after serving half his sentence.

The attack came after Usman Khan, 28, murdered two people at Fishmongers’ Hall on London Bridge last November. Khan, who was shot dead by police, was also released early.

Following the carnage on London Bridge, the Government was warned that Amman was too dangerous to be allowed back on the streets.

The Henry Jackson Society issued the alert naming the Streatham attacker and two others due for release.

Sir Mark told Radio 4’s Today programme: “I remember being asked by MPs a few years ago about the threat of returning jihadis from Syria, which is a concern.

“I remember saying at the time that there will be more dangerous people on the streets of the UK in the next few years coming out of UK prisons with terrorist convictions, than returning from Syria. Sadly that seems to be what’s happening at the moment.”

Sir Mark said: “People who are going to prison with a committed ideology that they believe that slaughtering other people is their God-given purpose, there perhaps needs to be an ability to extend sentences until the state is happy that they have learnt the errors of their ways.

“As I understand the rules, the Prison Service had no choice but to release him even though they were very, very concerned about it. That seems a bit perverse.”

Meanwhile, police raided two addresses linked to Amman including his bail hostel a short distance from the scene of the attack. Detectives also searched a property in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.

Scotland Yard said: “The Counter Terrorism Command continue to carry out fast-time inquiries into the circumstances of the attack in Streatham. No arrests have been made.””

  3. UN: ISIS mounting increasingly bold attacks in Iraq and Syria (thenational, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.thenational.ae/world/mena/un-isis-mounting-increasingly-bold-attacks-in-iraq-and-syria-1.973722

“ISIS is mounting increasingly bold attacks in Syria and Iraq and planning to free its fighters in detention facilities.

UN experts told the UN Security Council in a report that the militant group was also exploiting weaknesses in security in the two countries.

The experts, who are monitoring sanctions against ISIS and Al Qaeda, said it was unclear whether new ISIS leader, Abu Ibrahim Al Qurayshi, could effectively lead the extremist group’s diverse and far-flung supporters and affiliates.

But the panel said unidentified UN member nations had made a provisional assessment that the strategic direction of the extremist group remained unchanged when it comes to administration, propaganda and recruitment.

They also said the group’s command and control between its “core in the conflict zone and affiliates abroad will be maintained”.

Al Qurayshi’s predecessor, Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, was killed in a US raid last October in Syria’s Idlib province.

The experts said the issue of foreigners who came to fight for the ISIS and were part of its so-called “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq “remains acute”.

Member states assessed that between one half and two thirds of the more than 40,000 who joined the “caliphate” are still alive, they said in the report circulated Friday.

The panel said the reduction in the number of US troops in Syria had raised concerns about the ability of security forces in the country’s north-east “to maintain adequate control over a restive population of detained ISIS fighters, as well as family members, numbering more than 100,000”.

“Many dependents remain equally ideologically committed and their fate is a major concern for the international community,” the experts said.

“Some 2,000 foreign terrorist fighters remain in detention in the area.”

While some countries believe the best way to address the issue is to repatriate ISIS members, others are reluctant to accept returnees, the panel said.

The issue “is expected to aggravate the global threat posed by ISIS, and possibly Al Qaeda for years to come.”

The experts said Idlib province, the last rebel stronghold where Syrian forces launched an offensive in December, remains dominated by groups affiliated with Al Qaeda but also hosts relocated ISIS fighters and their families.

Parts of Iraq, especially areas in Anbar province near the Syrian border, “also represent a permissive security environment for the movement of ISIS fighters,” the panel said.

Beyond Syria and Iraq, the experts said UN member nations are most concerned about the conflict in Afghanistan, which by some measures suffers “the heaviest toll from terrorism of any country in the world”.

Al Qaeda and foreign fighters aligned with it, under protection of the Taliban, “pose a long-term global threat,” the panel said.

ISIS extremists suffered heavy losses and were largely expelled from their Afghan stronghold in Nangarhar province in November 2019, but the panel said ISIS “has proved resilient in the past and is still assessed to pose a serious threat”.

The experts said threats from Al Qaeda and ISIS affiliates also persist in parts of Africa and south-east Asia.

They called ISIS West Africa Province in the Lake Chad Basin the extremist group’s most successful affiliate in the last six months of 2019 for its “high tempo of attacks” and raids on security forces in Niger, which garnered significant arms, military materiel and other supplies.

It also cited the steady pace of attacks on security forces and foreign targets by Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabab, which is based in Somalia.

ISIS affiliates are also active in the Philippines, where the panel said fighters from Indonesia and Malaysia contribute to insurgent attacks, as well as in their own countries.

The experts also stressed that “Al Qaeda remains resilient and increasingly threatening,” saying its affiliates “are stronger than ISIS in many conflict zones”, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, Somalia, Yemen and north-west Syria.”

  4. 13 killed in N. Afghanistan clashes, including pro-gov’t local leader (xinhua, Feb 4, 2020)
    http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2020-02/04/c_138755060.htm

“Thirteen were killed during an ambush in northern Jawzjan province overnight, including a pro-government local leader, one of his men and 11 Taliban militants, a provincial government spokesman said on Tuesday.

“The incident occurred along Jawzjan-Sari Pul main road on Monday night after the Taliban militants attacked a unit of pro-government tribal militia group, known as local uprising fighters,” spokesman Abdul Maruf Azar told Xinhua.

The 11 bodies of the militants would be handed over to local villagers or Afghan Red Crescent personnel later in the day, Azar noted.

The obvious target of the ambush was local leader Tofan, who led local uprising fighters and lost his life in the targeted attack.

At least eight people were killed in targeted attacks in January this year across the country.

The Taliban militants, who ruled the country before being ousted in late 2001, renewed armed insurgency, killing government troops as well as civilians.

They frequently attack district offices, military camps, installations and security checkpoints, while the Afghan military respond with airstrikes on militant targets in the countryside.”

  5. Germany: North African man threatens four women with a knife at the train station

A threat with a knife is said to have taken place last Sunday morning in the Essen central station. According to witnesses, a 28-year-old North African man allegedly threatened four women with a knife. At about 1:30 a.m., federal police officers observed on video surveillance monitors how railway security staff overpowered a man. Police officers then went to the crime scene. As it turned out, the Tunisian national is said to have had a fight with four women in the area of the toilet facilities. The 28-year-old is said to have pulled a pocket knife and threatened the four women. Bystanders would have deescalatingly talked to the man, who shortly afterwards was overpowered and disarmed by railway security staff. The four women were not injured by the incident. The federal police provisionally arrested the Tunisian and brought criminal proceedings against him for threatening behaviour.

  6. Iranian Judiciary Hands Death Sentence and Prison Terms to Three CIA Spies – Spokesman (sputniknews, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202002041078221584-two-individuals-spying-for-cia-handed-prison-terms—iran-judiciary-spokesman/

“In summer of 2019, Iranian media outlets revealed details of a major cyber-espionage ring claimed to be run by US intelligence, saying that a total of 17 CIA-trained spies had been identified, publishing photo and video evidence of alleged US attempts to recruit Iranians to work against their government.

An individual accused of spying for the CIA in Iran has been sentenced to death, Iran’s judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Ismaili said at a press conference on Tuesday. The spokesman said that the Supreme Court has upheld the capital punishment for the US intelligence officer for gathering classified data related to Iran’s nuclear programme.

“Amir Rahimpour who was a CIA spy and got big pay and tried to present part of Iran’s nuclear information to the American service had been tried and sentenced to death and recently the supreme court upheld his sentence and you will see it carried out soon”, he said as quoted by Fars.
Ismaili also said that two other individuals accused of gathering intelligence for the CIA have been sentenced to ten and five years in prison respectively.

“Two … CIA spies who were working under the cover of an organisation and charitable foundation have been identified, tried and sentenced to ten years in prison for spying and five years in prison for acting against national security”, Gholamhossein Ismaili said.
The spokesman refused to disclose the name of the individuals since their sentences have not been finalised.

In June, Iran announced that it had broken up a major CIA “cyberespionage network” with help from the intelligence services of other countries. The country’s judiciary later said that Iranian military personnel working for US intelligence would be executed for treason, while non-military personnel would receive long prison sentences.

On 5 January, Tehran announced that it would no longer comply with the limits of the Iran nuclear deal, which was set to considerably reduce Iran’s nuclear programme and its stockpile of medium- and low-enriched uranium in exchange for the removal of international sanctions.

The country announced that it would now start enriching uranium based on its technical needs and in a “peaceful” manner.

Trump signalled Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA on 8 May, 2018, reinstating harsh economic sanctions against Iran. Exactly a year later, Tehran announced that it had started to suspend some of its obligations under the nuclear deal.”

  7. Turkish Foreign Ministry Says Working With Moscow to Decrease Tensions in Syria’s Idlib (sputniknews, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202002041078224048-turkey-working-with-moscow-to-decrease-tensions-in-syrias-idlib/

“Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said that Ankara was working with Moscow to decrease tensions in Syria’s de-escalation zone, where Turkish troops and the Syrian government forces recently clashed.

“We are working with Russia to stop the attacks of the forces of the Syrian government”, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, as broadcast on the Turkish NTV channel.

Additionally, Cavusoglu said Turkey had in fact informed Moscow of its armed forces’ movements in the Idlib zone ahead of the clashes.

“As I told [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov, we always inform Russia about [military movements] so that there would be no clashes with Russia by mistake. It is impossible that there was no such information”, Cavusoglu said…”

  8. Greek Police Detain 40 Illegal Migrants at Riots on Lesbos Island – Reports (sputniknews, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/202002041078223847-greek-police-detain-40-illegal-migrants-at-riots-on-lesbos-island—reports/

“On Monday, after 2,000 refugees in Moria began marching against poor living conditions and demanded faster processing of their asylum cases, clashes ensued in which police fired tear gas and stun grenades to prevent protesters from reaching the island’s capital of Mitilini.

Greek police have detained 40 irregular migrants over their involvement in recent mass riots in the Moria refugee camp on Greece’s Lesbos island that quickly turned into clashes with law enforcement, Greek media reported.

According to the Lesvos Post, 40 people were detained as riots continued into the night, which prompted residents of the surrounding town to demand that the refugee camp be closed. The situation remains strained as migrants continue to demand they be transferred to mainland Greece, the newspaper said.

“These sad events prove the need to speed up the asylum procedure, the return of asylum seekers, and the establishment of closed and controlled facilities. It goes without saying that unlawful behaviours are incompatible with the asylum procedures”, Minister for Migration and Asylum Notis Mitarakis was quoted as saying.

Migrants reportedly plan to continue the protests in Mitilini, which is further south on the island.

Riots and disturbances in the Moria camp have become commonplace as the facility has long since exhausted its capacity to accept newcomers. Illegal migrants continue to arrive and stock in the Greek islands while the government is still reluctant to relocate them to the mainland, despite promises to do so, and build additional temporary camps to that purpose.”

  9. Outrage Over Hijab in Swedish Music App Aimed at Children Aged 3 and Over (sputniknews, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/202002041078221646-outrage-over-hijab-in-swedish-music-app-aimed-at-children-aged-3-and-over/

“Many have interpreted the app produced by the national broadcaster SVT as uncalled-for use of a perceived symbol of oppression as well as government-funded sexualisation of children.

Swedish national broadcaster SVT has sparked massive outrage with its app for Melodifestivalen, a popular music festival that attracts millions of viewers.

In the app, which is geared toward kids starting from the age of three, users can create their own avatars featuring different hairstyles, and one of the options is the Muslim hijab.

This feature sparked criticism from social commentators, activists, and ordinary users alike, who saw it as inappropriate and sending a wrong message.

Among others, Faw Azzat of the Moderate Party and former goodwill ambassador for GAPF, a national organisation against honour-related violence, demanded an explanation from SVT.

“Melody Festival app. Age limit three. What were you thinking?” Azzat wrote.

Others inquired why other religious head garments, such as the Jewish yarmulke, were not included.

Still others interpreted it as a symbol of oppression and the sexualisation of children being normalised using public funds.

“Women in Muslim countries risk their lives fighting male oppression and the obligatory veil. Here, SVT goes out with taxpayers’ money making my children believe that it’s normal for little girls to cover up. May my children and grandchildren know that I belonged to the resistance movement”, one woman tweeted.

?“Islamists have, of course, infiltrated SVT. Our tax money at work! Damn it”, children’s writer and journalist Katerina Janouch wrote.

The broadcaster has been tax-funded since the beginning of 2019 via a tax that raises a total of approximately SEK 9 billion ($930 million) for SVT, Swedish Radio, and Education Radio. The tax is referred to as a fee.

While claiming to be independent, SVT is owned by the Public Administration Foundation, which is government-controlled. Its board members, including current and former MPs, are also appointed by the government.

The issue of Islamic clothing has become an increasingly polarising topic in Sweden owing to mass immigration from the Middle East, as well as from North and Sub-Saharan Africa. While several institutions and municipalities have imposed bans on religious garments, this sparked protests from Islamic pressure groups, interest organisations, and their allies.

?The number of Muslims in Sweden has soared in recent decades, exceeding 800,000 and amounting to 8.1 percent of the population today, according to the Pew Research Centre. This has sparked a hot debate on the role of Islam in Swedish society.”

  10. In Sweden, Just One in Sixteen New Migrants Have a Job That Isn’t Being Subsidised by Taxpayers (breitbart, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/04/sweden-only-6-1-per-cent-new-migrants-non-subsidised-jobs-2019/

“The Swedish Employment service has revealed that just 6.1 per cent of new arrival migrants were able to find full-time work not subsidised by the government last year.

The figures further illustrate the failure of new migrants to Sweden, which has one of the most generous welfare states on earth, to find real work while the vast majority remain totally unemployed. The number reflects those migrants who have been in the Employment Service’s establishment programme for at least 90 days and is down from 2018 which saw 6.6 per cent of migrants in work not subsidised by the government, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

The rate for migrants employed in jobs that are subsidised was much higher in 2019 at 24.5 per cent. Such jobs include start-up businesses as well as so-called “extra services” which generally include positions in the public sphere or in non-profit companies.

Staffan Johansson, Head of Unit at the Employment Service, said that the decrease in migrants employed in any job after 90 days, just 31 per cent, could be explained by a “downturn in the economy” and said that work on extra services had been halted as well.

“The extra services have proven to be very effective for this target group, which has led them to a greater extent to come to work after having an extra service,” he said.

Migrant unemployment rates are consistently much higher than those of native-born Swedes, with many reports showing the migrant rate being several times that of natives.

According to Statistics Sweden’s integration database for health insurance and labour market studies (LISA), around 90 per cent of the migrants who arrived at the height of the 2015 migrant crisis and gain permanent residency status are unemployed.

Migrant unemployment numbers are unlikely to dramatically increase in the near future as Sweden’s general unemployment rate has been rising for several months. October Eurostat figures put the country’s unemployment rate at 24th out of the now 27 EU member states.

The situation shows no signs of improving this year either, with Swedish bank Handelsbanken stating that the country shows weak signs of growth and expects unemployment rates to remain high.”

    • I have read a report (that I can’t confirm) that the virus can be spread by human waste, think about what that is going to do in the Democrat run cities!

If it breaks out of the confinement in the developed nations it is going to be real bad.

      • If any doctors or virologists read this I hope they can correct me. But I remember reading some years ago, possibly in the Dark Ages before the internet existed, that diseases that can be spread in urine or fecal matter are an order of magnitude more problematic than any other way.

Typically urine is sterile. But if Wuhan Flu can make it out that way, well yeah. Its a different problem. But again, this is remembering information that came the ancient way of books, newspaper articles and magazines.

  11. Italian Police Attacked with Bricks in Turin Migrant Centre (breitbart, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/04/italian-police-attacked-with-bricks-in-turin-migrant-centre/

“Eleven police and two army soldiers were attacked with bricks at a migrant repatriation centre in Turin over the weekend in just the latest case of violence at the centre.

The migrants in the centre tore bricks off the walls of a structure and climbed onto the roof of a housing module before raining the bricks down on police officers, wounding 13 people, Il Giornale reports.

Police have stated that they are examining CCTV evidence to confirm their suspicions that the five migrants involved in the violence against the officers were originally from North Africa.

The incident comes just a month after residents of the centre set the entire building complex on fire which caused thousands of euros worth of damage, destroying a canteen and several dormitories.

Another incident took places two weeks later when migrants set their mattresses on fire along with setting fire to other objects. In the ensuing chaos, five police officers were injured.

The city of Turin has had problems with illegal migrant violence for years, with the former Olympic Village, built to house athletes during the 2006 Winter Olympics, being turned into a virtual no-go zone by migrants and far-left extremists where police would not enter.

African migrants even led a large-scale riot in November of 2016 with one migrant claiming the radical Islamic terror attack on the Bataclan nightclub in Paris in 2015 had been the “revenge of the excluded”.

Around 300 migrants took part in the rioting, throwing bottles and rocks while yelling “racist” at Italians who passed by them.

In December of 2018, populist League leader Matteo Salvini, who was serving as Interior minister at the time, spearheaded an eviction of far-left extremists and migrants from the former Olympic Village.”

Interestingly, the issues mentioned in this haven’t changed in the last week. I am surprised that the panel doesn’t address the issue of a recovery period for commerce and morale after the epidemic dissipates. Perhaps, this is what the CCP fears–where it will find itself afterwards, faced with a people who no longer trust or fear it.

  16. White Helmets Filmed ‘Human Victims’ After ‘Chemical Attack’ of Syrian Army – Russian MoD (sputniknews, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202002041078225893-white-helmets-filmed-human-victims-after-chemical-attack-of-syrian-army/

“The Russian Centre for Syria reconciliation said a day earlier that the White Helmets, backed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly known as the Al Nusra Front*), were preparing a new provocation involving toxic agents in Syria.

The White Helmets have finished filming a staged provocation implicating the Syrian army in the use of chemical agents, according to the Russian Centre for Syria reconciliation. The group’s video will show fake casualties allegedly caused by a “chemical attack” by the Syrian government, the centre reported.

“According to the information that the Russian centre for Syria reconciliation received at around 16:00 Moscow time [13:00 GMT] from several independent sources, representatives of the White Helmets, together with terrorists, have finished the shooting of a staged video about the [Syrian] governmental forces’ alleged use of ‘toxic agents’ against civilians in the Zerbah settlement of the Idlib de-escalation zone”, the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The video shows the alleged consequences of a Syrian Air Force attack involving some “unidentified chemical weapon”, the ministry added.

“Alleged ‘human victims’ with symptoms of ‘intoxication’ can be seen on the video in thick yellow smoke. The White Helmets are now ready to spread the fake video on social media for further dissemination through Western and Arab media”, the Russian Defence Ministry noted.
The Russian military added that the White Helmets plan to spread fake videos via social networks for further dissemination throughout Western and Arab media.

According to the earlier report of the reconciliation centre, the White Helmets have delivered 400 litres of a chemical agent to the site where they plan to stage and film the provocation.

A day earlier, the Russian Defence Ministry called on all the participants of the provocation to abandon their “criminal plans” and asked Turkey to put pressure on the militants in the area of the de-escalation zone controlled by Ankara to prevent the provocation.

Around 15 representatives of the White Helmets arrived in the Idlib de-escalation zone on 1 February to prepare the provocation, which is expected to be conducted under the guidance of the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, who previously engaged in the 2017 chemical provocation in Idlib’s Khan Shaykhun…”

HONG KONG/BEIJING (Reuters) – Hong Kong reported its first coronavirus death on Tuesday, the second outside mainland China from a fast-spreading outbreak that has killed 427 people and threatened economic supply chains around the world.

But after Shanghai’s main market lost nearly $400 billion the previous day, global and Chinese markets bounced, with both Europe and metals enjoying their best sessions of the year.

On the ground, bad news was relentless.

Chinese-ruled Macau, the world’s biggest gambling hub, asked casino operators to close for two weeks to help curb the virus.

And in the latest major corporate hit, Hyundai Motor said it would gradually suspend production at South Korean factories because of supply chain disruptions.

Hong Kong’s first fatality was a 39-year-old man with an underlying illness who had visited China’s Wuhan city, the virtually quarantined epicenter of the outbreak.

China, meanwhile, reported a record daily jump in deaths of 64 to 425. The only other death outside mainland China was a man who died in the Philippines last week after visiting Wuhan.

  20. BREITBART Five Mosques Used as Iowa Caucus Sites for First Time in American History

Five mosques were used as Iowa Democrat Caucus sites for the first time in United States history in an attempt to drive up voter participation among Muslim voters.

On Monday evening, five mosques in the Des Moines, Iowa, area were approved as official caucus sites to increase Muslim voter participation. Iowa has a Muslim population of about one percent.

Journalist Ali Harb notes that the overwhelming majority of Muslim caucus-goers are supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

Iowa’s only Muslim state Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad told Al Jazeera that the mosques being used as caucus sites was “historic,” while Muslim Caucus of America co-chair Rummi Khan called the caucus sites a “safe place” for Muslim caucus-goers.

“I think now that Muslims are coming out because we are now realizing that if we don’t tell our story, nobody else will,” Abdul-Samad said.

  21. Iowa Caucus vote totals delayed amid ‘inconsistencies’; campaigns lash out at ‘crazy’ state party

The Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) still has not reported official vote totals in the critical Iowa Caucuses as of early Tuesday morning, in a largely unexplained and unprecedented delay that has raised questions about the legitimacy of the contest — and Democratic campaign officials are livid, Fox News has learned.

The Trump campaign, meanwhile, openly suggested that the delay meant that the caucuses were being “rigged,” and that the embarrassing night proved that the Democratic Party can’t be trusted to run Americans’ health care and implement sweeping new government programs. Even if a winner were ultimately announced, the chaos and confusion has seemingly erased any hope for the major momentum boost that would normally result.

“We found inconsistencies in the reporting of three sets of results,” the IDP said in a statement at 11:30 p.m. EST. “In addition to the tech systems being used to tabulate results, we are also using photos of results and a paper trail to validate that all results match and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report. This is simply a reporting issue. The app did not go down and this is not a hack or an intrusion. The underlying data and paper trail is sound and will simply take time to further report the results.”

  22. ‘Joe Biden Is Not Viable’: How Nancy Pelosi Scuppered ‘Obama’s Third Term’

Iowa isn’t everything, but Biden doesn’t have the ability to weather his shellacking in the Democrat caucuses overnight.

    For a start, he’s broke.

This is a primary race in which an oligarch is about to buy himself entry, and Biden barely had $9m cash-on-hand at the start of the year.

That’s not the end of the world. But it’s certainly not where a former Vice President and presumed favorite should be at this point in the race. Right now he’s looking like the Democratic Party’s Jeb! Bush

Rather than just boring audiences to death like the one-time presumptive Republican nominee, Biden’s campaign appears to have been run off the rails by his own party. Specifically House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s flawed impeachment process.

It looked grim for Biden as far back as November, when a Harvard-Harris poll found 57 percent of people believed that “Hunter Biden receiving money from business interests in Ukraine is evidence of corruption”.

  23. Reports: Iowa’s Democrat Party knew of problems with election app one week before caucus date

Officials in Iowa reportedly knew there were problems with the mobile app used to tally the results in Monday’s caucus. The state’s Democrat Party released a statement late Monday to announce its decision to delay the release of the official results. They cited “inconsistencies” in the results as the reason for the postponement.

The Democrats went on to specify the delay was not because of a hack in an apparent effort to quell possible theories of election interference. On top of the supposed “inconsistencies,” however, many county chairs in Iowa have said they reported problems with the new app in the week before the caucus date. One chair from Polk County said not only were there unresolved problems with the app, but local Democrat officials weren’t provided any training on how to use it.

There were also reports of the phone lines being backed up for counties to report their results, with some reports suggesting county officials were on-hold for over an hour. Many counties were forced to switch to recording the votes on paper. Despite all this, the state’s Democrat Party has assured voters the underlying reporting was sound, but it would take time to tally the votes.

During the so-called “quality checks,” multiple candidates addressed their supporters with all of them claiming to be doing well in the state.

  24. Doctors Advise How to ‘Override’ Parents’ Refusal of Trans Medical Treatment for Children (breitbart, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/02/04/doctors-advise-how-to-override-parents-refusal-of-trans-medical-treatment-for-children/

““Gender-affirming” doctors authored an article in the Journal of Medical Ethics of the BMJ (British Medical Journal) in which they advise the trans industry how they can prevail over parents who are reluctant to allow their children to participate in treatments, such as puberty blocker, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries.

Dr. Samuel Dubin, a plastic surgeon at University of Michigan School of Medicine, and his colleagues wrote the article titled “Medically Assisted Gender Affirmation: When Children and Parents Disagree.”

In the authors’ view, there is a lack of guidance for trans providers of “gender-affirming” medical treatments in how to handle the situation of parents who refuse to give consent to allow their children, who claim to identify with a gender incompatible with their biological sex, to be treated with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and, even sex reassignment surgery.

    The authors state their mission:

Our discussion approaches this parent–child disagreement in a manner that prioritises the developing autonomy of transgender youth in the decision-making process surrounding medically assisted gender affirmation. We base our arguments in the literature surrounding the risks and benefits of gender-affirming therapy in transgender children and the existing legal basis for recognising minors’ decision-making authority in certain medical situations.

“We conclude that situations where a parent prevents a minor from receiving treatments related to gender dysphoria violate the Harm Principle and justify state intervention,” Dubin and colleagues assert.

“Neglect, as a medico-legal term, can be used to initiate an evaluation by Child Protective Services and remove a parent as a child’s legal guardian in the most severe instances,” they add, citing others in the transgender industry who continue the narrative that “gender-affirming therapies … improve quality of life, decrease depression and decrease high-risk behaviours.”

    The authors advise:

[R]esearch supports invoking parental neglect when youth who experience extreme gender dysphoria are prevented from accessing medically recommended gender-affirming interventions. This course of action as a recourse for parent–child disagreement over gender-affirming medical interventions requiring consent is consistent with the established understanding of paediatric ethics and thresholds for over-riding consent.

“Detransitioner” Hacsi Horváth, who identified as a woman for 13 years until 2013, tweeted, “No child is ‘trans.’”

Disgraceful and repulsive. “Trans” industry personnel discuss how to overcome or even go around parent objections to “affirmatively” sterilizing & transing children. No child is “trans.” | Journal of Medical Ethics

    — Hacsi Horvath (@givethemseeds) January 27, 2020

“Disgraceful and repulsive,” he said, calling attention to the BMJ article. “‘Trans’ industry personnel discuss how to overcome or even go around parent objections to ‘affirmatively’ sterilizing & transing children.”

As Breitbart News reported in December, radical LGBTQ organizations and the transgender drug and surgical industry are obtaining name-brand support from some of the nation’s medical and mental health societies who provide cover for their experimentation on children who suffer from gender dysphoria.

For example, the BMJ authors state “current gender-affirming medical practice” is in accord with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), an organization that Atlanta-based pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Quentin Van Meter explained was launched by psychologist John Money and sexologist Alfred Kinsey to push a political agenda for gender ideology.

“This is not a scientifically based organization,” Van Meter told Breitbart News during an interview in 2018. “It’s essentially a pseudo-professional group of people who are pushing an agenda and have been since the beginning.”

“To be a member in WPATH, you only need to have an interest in transgender issues,” he explained. “There is no professional degree required, no training specifically, no certification. If you want to be a member, all you need to do is pay your dues.”

Van Meter added that guidelines published by the Endocrine Society “are essentially a rubber-stamped version of the WPATH guidelines.”

The BMJ’s “gender-affirming” authors support their position by observing “WPATH and the Endocrine Society suggest that transgender children can make their own medical decisions at the age of 16 years.”

The authors also note a 2016 statement of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) that suggests “children begin involvement in their medical decisions in a developmentally appropriate manner beginning at age 7, with a graduating involvement based on age and disease experience.”

The authors cite the AAP as they shut down the concerns of parents who hesitate to provide consent for life-altering drugs or surgeries for fear their children will regret the decision later in life.

“Recently, the AAP has reaffirmed this position specifically in the transgender population,” Dubin and colleagues state. “Children ‘reverting’ to their gender assigned at birth is a controversial concern that some parents may have in pre-pubertal children that has recently been denounced by the AAP and a systemic review.”

“The Pediatric Endocrine Society’s statement that puberty suppressing agents are reversible is highly deceptive. Adolescents can never regain the years lost to the blockade of normal bone, brain, and pelvic development.”

    — Michael K. Laidlaw, MD (@MLaidlawMD) January 14, 2020

Dr. Michael Laidlaw, a California-based endocrinologist, told Breitbart News the medical societies often cited by the “gender-affirming” industry “have created an institutionalized childhood pathway towards sterility.”

    He added:

It’s really critical to understand that our medical organizations beginning with the Endocrine Society and moving on to the Pediatric Endocrine Society and American Academy of Pediatricians, that, with respect to this topic, have been taken over by the most radical elements. These radical trans activists were involved in writing the Endocrine Society guidelines in 2009 and 2017. These are low to no quality evidence guidelines, and anyone can read for themselves the poor evidence they have for these treatments for children and adolescents.

The medical societies, Laidlaw said, have been infiltrated by radical transgender activists with “one of the most insidious child sterilization programs ever devised.”

The BMJ authors, nevertheless, cite these societies freely, to provide evidence for the “benefits” of puberty-blocking drugs and even surgical treatments for young people:

Recent insurance database analysis and patient-reported outcome studies identified patients as young as 14 years old undergoing a gender-affirming mastectomy. Some research works suggest there are psychosocial benefits to individuals receiving gender mastectomy in their teens. For both surgical and hormonal gender-affirming care, there are psychosocial and physical benefits for transgender minors.

Dr. Michelle Cretella, executive director of the American College of Pediatricians, confirmed to Breitbart News Dubin and colleagues “make the case for a child’s right to self-consent to puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and body-modifying surgeries – with state override of resistant parents.”

“Parents are already losing their children over this issue,” she said, adding:

Sadly, with a few exceptions, the medical establishment is placing sexual ideology and profits above children’s health and well-being. While opposition to the transition of youth is being painted as a “right-wing” movement, this label cannot apply to the Australian College of Physicians, the Royal College of General Practitioners in the United Kingdom, and the Swedish National Council for Medical Ethics, all of whom characterize prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in youth as experimental and dangerous. Similarly, world-renowned child psychiatrist Dr. Christopher Gillberg has referred to this as “possibly one of the greatest scandals in medical history” and his neuropsychiatry research group at Gothenburg University has called for “an immediate moratorium on the use of puberty blocker drugs because of their unknown long-term effects.”

Horvath wrote in 2018 that “gender-affirming” proponents “could well be described as marketing and recruitment for ‘being trans.’”

“Patients of any age need only say they think they are really the opposite sex, or wish they were, and affirmative care clinicians are happy to get busy, scheduling surgeries and prescribing lifelong drug regimens,” he asserted.”

  25. Spokesman For Violent Islamist Group Arrested on War Crimes Charges, Was in France on Student Visa (breitbart, Feb 4, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/02/04/france-arrests-armed-islamist-group-member-erasmus-student-visa/

“French authorities have arrested a former spokesman for an armed Syrian Islamist group for complicity in war crimes who was in France on an Erasmus student visa.

Investigators arrested Majdi Mustafa Nameh, who was using the alias Islam Alloush, in Marseille last week on torture and war crimes charges. On Saturday, Islamist group Jaysh al-Islam demanded his release, newspaper Le Figaro reports.

Nameh had acted as a former spokesman for Jaysh al-Islam which operates in Syria and fought against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Damascus region during the Syrian civil war.

The group published a statement on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, popular with radical Islamist groups, claiming that Nameh had cut ties with the group and urged authorities to drop any and all charges.

Human rights groups have criticised Jaych al-Islam in the past and the group has been accused of kidnapping lawyer and journalist Razan Zeitouneh, along with her husband and two others, in December of 2014.

The group has also been accused of torturing prisoners, filming the executions of Islamic State prisoners, and engaging in the use of chemical weapons in Aleppo in 2016.

Nameh is just the latest radical Islamist migrant to be investigated or tried in Europe for participating in war crimes since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

While some migrants have been arrested and charged for war crimes, such as a 29-year-old Syrian man in Germany in 2017, some have estimated that the number of war criminals let into Europe during the migrant crisis could be in the thousands in Germany alone.

A report released in March of last year claimed that from 2014 to 2019 the German government allowed around 5,000 migrants to enter the country who were subject to investigations for violating international laws but investigated very few of them.

Sweden, which also took in a large share of migrants in 2015, saw just 12 asylum seekers reported for potential war crimes charges, a number that rose to 52 in 2017.”

  29. Now the Emirates reward the Pope for brotherhood with Islam

Pope francesco he was awarded a prize dedicated to the Brotherhood. A recognition that the Argentine pontiff must share with Ahmad Al-Tayyib, the imam of al-Azhar.

To establish the honor were the United Arab Emirates. The occasion is offered by the anniversary of the stipulation of the document signed by the Argentine pontiff and the Sunni religious authority. The solemn subscription took place a year ago. A text – the one on Brotherhood – which the “conservative front” disputes above all for the hierarchical equation of the Christian-Catholic religion with the Muslim one.

Among the best known critics, it is worth mentioning the bishop Athanasius Schneider, who asked the bishop of Rome to rectify at least part of that declaration. The one in which the hierarchical primacy of Catholicism is not emphasized.

God – this is the point raised by the traditionalist hemispheres – cannot have wanted religious plurality, which is instead derived only from the will of men. And this is just one of the contents validated by the signature of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, but not shared by the doctrinal and traditionalist extremists.

The United Arab Emirates have in some way acknowledged to the Pope of the Catholic Church that he has reopened a channel of dialogue with the Islamic world, especially after the lectio magistralis held by Joseph Ratzinger in Regensburg. T

hat episode had helped push the parties away. According to what reported by IlSismografoAbu Dabi, through this “Human Brotherhood award”, aims to “to honor all those who work tirelessly and honestly to bring people together”. The basic objective, which is that of peace between peoples, is shared by the Holy See and the political authorities of the Arab nation.

“Today – said Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the executive top – the United Arab Emirates have the honor of conferring this inaugural award on His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Dr. al-Tayyib for exemplary and determined efforts to promote peace among peoples around the world. ”

The interreligious dialogue promoted by the Holy Father knows no interruptions whatsoever. After the historic visit to the aforementioned capital, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, always in agreement with the imam of al-Azhar, proposed to the UN to establish a World Brotherhood Day. Another step that in the Vatican they believe is necessary for the definitive disappearance of conflicts and religious beliefs.

The date identified should be today’s, February 4th of each year. In these seven and a half years of pontificate, the Pope has often been criticized for his attitude chosen for dialectic with Islam. Many believe that Jorge Mario Bergoglio does not mark cultural distances enough. Others, however, applaud the papal moves in the area of ??interreligious dialogue.

Abu Dhabi marks interfaith effort a year after Pope’s visit

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Interfaith leaders gathered on Monday in Abu Dhabi to mark one year since Pope Francis’ historic trip to the Arabian Peninsula, a visit that saw leading Muslim clerics gather alongside the pope to promote co-existence.

The United Arab Emirates has worked to promote itself over the past year as a beacon of religious tolerance, despite it’s hard limits on political speech. The majority of the country’s population are not Emirati Muslim citizens, but foreigners, millions of whom are Christian and Hindu.

Abu Dhabi hosted Monday’s meeting to showcase its continued efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue as it prepares to break ground this year on a compound that will house a mosque, church and synagogue side by side.

The Abrahamic House of Fraternity project is due to be completed in 2022.

In the neighbouring emirate of Dubai, an unmarked villa has already been turned into a synagogue.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia, along with other Gulf states, have been expanding their outreach to Christian groups, like evangelicals, and Jewish organizations. The effort coincides with a broader alignment of political interests and ties emerging between Gulf Arab states and Israel, which share a common foe in Iran.

A U.S. rabbi, a representative of the Catholic church and a trained sheikh from Egypt’s Al-Azhar, the revered 1,000-year-old seat of Sunni Islamic learning, attended Monday’s briefing where they discussed ongoing interfaith efforts.

Senior Rabbi at the Washington Hebrew Congregation, Bruce Lustig, insisted his participation on this visit was “apolitical”.

“We are here as a forum for peace for the whole human family, so I am delighted when there are greater ties with the state of Israel,“ he told The Associated Press. ”I am delighted when there’s opportunities to bring justice and peace to so many people who have so many injustices in the world.”

“Member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ (IRGC) Quds Force Asghar Pashapour was announced killed in Aleppo’s battles on Sunday, according to Iranian sources.

Tehran’s militia participation in the attack on Idlib was confirmed in line with the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s support for Damascus.

Sources said Pashapour was close to slain Commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad early January.

According to the Iranian Television Agency, he was killed “in confrontations with militant groups.”

His military rank in the IRGC was not revealed, but information indicates that he has accompanied Soleimani in Syria since the beginning of the war between the regime forces and the Syrian opposition factions.

IRGC intelligence agency’s Mashreq website has described Pashapour as “the man who was always concerned about Soleimani’s life” and published a picture of them both gathered with other fighters at a site in Syria.

Young Journalists Club (YJC) news agency, for its part, released a video of a conversation going on between Soleimani and Pashapour in a site in Syria, in which the latter was asking Soleimani not to advance to frontlines.

Iran has not yet officially revealed a statistic on the number of its forces in Syria despite the announcement of the death of hundreds, including senior IRGC leaders over the past years…”

  31. H5N8 bird flu reported in Riyadh
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/588289/SAUDI-ARABIA/H5N8-bird-flu-reported-in-Riyadh

“Saudi Arabia has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu virus on a poultry farm, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

Emergency teams were able to control the epicenter of the outbreak after implementing the emergency measures at the site, said Dr. Abdullah Abal Khail, spokesman of the ministry.

The outbreak, which occurred in Sudair in the central Riyadh region, killed 22,700 birds, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) said on Tuesday, citing a report from the ministry.

The other 385,300 birds in the flock were slaughtered, it said. The case was the first outbreak of the H5N8 virus in Saudi Arabia since July 2018.
