Officers say the suspect assaulted two witnesses of the crash and tried to steal their phones before leaving the scene.
The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a hit-and-run which turned into an assault near Bayshore Mall.
Officers say a woman, driving a dark coloured SUV, struck an unoccupied parked vehicle on January 11, around 2 p.m.
The suspect then assaulted a witness and tried to steal the victim’s phone before assaulting a second witness and trying to steal their phone.
Police say the suspect then fled the area.

6. Harvard University Professor and Two Chinese Nationals Charged in Three Separate China Related Cases

The Department of Justice announced today that the Chair of Harvard University’s Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department and two Chinese nationals have been charged in connection with aiding the People’s Republic of China.
Dr. Charles Lieber, 60, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, was arrested this morning and charged by criminal complaint with one count of making a materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statement. Lieber will appear this afternoon before Magistrate Judge Marianne B. Bowler in federal court in Boston, Massachusetts.
Yanqing Ye, 29, a Chinese national, was charged in an indictment today with one count each of visa fraud, making false statements, acting as an agent of a foreign government and conspiracy. Ye is currently in China.
Zaosong Zheng, 30, a Chinese national, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2019, at Boston’s Logan International Airport and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to smuggle 21 vials of biological research to China. On Jan. 21, 2020, Zheng was indicted on one count of smuggling goods from the United States and one count of making false, fictitious or fraudulent statements. He has been detained since Dec. 30, 2019.

According to court documents, since 2008, Dr. Lieber who has served as the Principal Investigator of the Lieber Research Group at Harvard University, which specialized in the area of nanoscience, has received more than $15,000,000 in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DOD). These grants require the disclosure of significant foreign financial conflicts of interest, including financial support from foreign governments or foreign entities. Unbeknownst to Harvard University beginning in 2011, Lieber became a “Strategic Scientist” at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China and was a contractual participant in China’s Thousand Talents Plan from in or about 2012 to 2017. China’s Thousand Talents Plan is one of the most prominent Chinese Talent recruit plans that are designed to attract, recruit, and cultivate high-level scientific talent in furtherance of China’s scientific development, economic prosperity and national security. These talent programs seek to lure Chinese overseas talent and foreign experts to bring their knowledge and experience to China and reward individuals for stealing proprietary information. Under the terms of Lieber’s three-year Thousand Talents contract, WUT paid Lieber $50,000 USD per month, living expenses of up to 1,000,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately $158,000 USD at the time) and awarded him more than $1.5 million to establish a research lab at WUT. In return, Lieber was obligated to work for WUT “not less than nine months a year” by “declaring international cooperation projects, cultivating young teachers and Ph.D. students, organizing international conference[s], applying for patents and publishing articles in the name of” WUT.
7. Asylum Seeker Child Rape Grooming Gang Kept Secret by Scottish Police
A large grooming gang of asylum seekers was kept secret by police in Scotland despite victimising at least 44 young girls.
Glasgow police shut down a child rape gang whose 55 members were all either “asylum seekers or naturalised asylum seekers”, but did not reveal the existence of the group or the operation to shut it down to the public.

A report conducted by Detective Inspector Sarah Taylor from the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit found that of the suspects, only 14 had been deported, with 22 remaining in Glasgow. A further eight were believed to be still living in the United Kingdom, with just one in prison and one further individual pending deportation.
The report details the scale at which the grooming gang operated, with one victim believed to have been abused by 28 different members of the group, and another being linked to 23 men within the gang.
(The real news will be when a police force in a Western city is actually honest and fair and arrests, prosecutes, names and tells the truth about the nature of these gangs. That will be a day to celebrate. Sort of like rewarding a person who doesn’t steal your money. Governments and security services seem to have found a fast track to not having law abiding citizens trust them. I hope it works out for them.)
8. Sweden Sending Doctors To South Africa to Train in Bullet Wound Trauma Treatment
Beginning in 2021, the Västra Götaland region in Sweden will start to send its surgeons to South Africa in order to better learn how to treat knife and gunshot wounds.
The programme, which will see surgeons travel down to the city of Johannesburg for three months at a time will allow the Swedish surgeons to garner more experience with gunshot wounds due to the frequency of violent crime in the city, broadcaster Sveriges Radio reports.

Indications of gang rape in Bayreuth, Germany – Police investigate Syrian and Iranian suspects
“Four men” from Bayreuth allegedly raped a young woman this weekend. The newspaper Frankenpost reports this in a politically highly correct manner. Meanwhile, the internet portal Bayern-Report informs its readers comprehensively and reveals who the “four men” are who were involved in the alleged gang rape.According to police reports, early Sunday morning a 24-year-old neighbour heard screams from an apartment above a Bayreuth Shishabar. The screams indicated that a young woman was being forced to perform sexual acts against her will.
