Chinese researcher escorted from infectious disease lab amid RCMP investigation
A researcher with ties to China was recently escorted out of the National Microbiology Lab (NML) in Winnipeg amid an RCMP investigation into what’s being described as a possible “policy breach.”
Dr. Xiangguo Qiu, her husband Keding Cheng and an unknown number of her students from China were removed from Canada’s only level-4 lab on July 5, CBC News has learned.
A Level 4 virology facility is a lab equipped to work with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases. That makes the Arlington Street lab one of only a handful in North America capable of handling pathogens requiring the highest level of containment, such as Ebola.
Security access for the couple and the Chinese students was revoked, according to sources who work at the lab and do not want to be identified because they fear consequences for speaking out.
Sources say this comes several months after IT specialists for the NML entered Qiu’s office after-hours and replaced her computer. Her regular trips to China also started being denied.
Corona virus. A Canadian made pathogen weaponized and leaked by China and named after a Mexican beer. That, is multiculturalism.)
3. France: Security Services Arrest Seven Islamic Radicals Plotting Terror Attacks
The Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI), France’s internal intelligence and security agency, has arrested seven Islamist radicals they claim were plotting terrorist attacks.
The DGSI released details of the arrest, saying all of the men involved lived in the city of Brest, with many of them already being under government surveillance prior to the arrests, broadcaster RTL reports.

5. Iranian commander gunned down in front of his own home
Iranian Basij forces commander Abdolhossein Mojaddami was gunned down in front of his own home on Wednesday in the Khuzestan province of Iran, news agency IRNA reported. The Basij forces, one of the five forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC), are often used to suppress protests and demonstrations in the Islamic Republic.
He was killed by two men who wore masks and were riding a motorcycle, Iranian media reported.Iranian security forces are investigating the matter.
Coronavirus being studied in Winnipeg
Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg has a sample of the new coronavirus that is causing infections in a number of countries, most notably Saudi Arabia.
Scientific director Dr. Frank Plummer says the lab obtained the virus from the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The Dutch lab was the one that first identified the new virus last June in a sample from a Saudi man who had died of a mysterious illness.
Plummer says the coronavirus arrived at the Winnipeg facility on May 4.
The lab is growing up stocks of the virus and will use it to assess diagnostic tests being used in Canada, he says.
As well, Winnipeg scientists plan to do some work to see which animal species can be infected with the virus.

At meetings on July 8, NML staff were told the researchers are on leave for an unknown period of time. They were told not to communicate with them.

Thank you Xanthippa, M., Wrath of Khan, EB., ET., ML., Yucki, Richard, and everyone who sent in materials. More to come tonight and some interesting things as well.

6 – Thank you, I have been wondering if this was a bio weapon that was “accidently” released.
Unlikely.
The profile is organic, similar to other coronavirus outbreaks like SARS and MERS. This one seems to have started around Wuhan City’s seafood and animal market.
What happens is a virus common to specific animal populations evolves to infect people. That’s rare.
But then it further evolves to spread between people. And then, maybe, it becomes increasingly transmissible.
Thing is, the virus MUTATES.
FAST.
• At this point it’s not as severe as it may become: fatal to the usual – elderly, infants, people with underlying medical conditions.
• Infectious or HIGHLY infectious? Not yet clear.
Stay tuned…
The ‘said’ market in question was into selling live protected wildlife such as baby wolves, crocodiles, snakes, stuff like that for food consumption.
The wildlife is raised on farms. I imagine in horrific circumstances.
People order the animal they want, the market butchers and freeze it for delivery.
Such nice people, aren’t they.
This is a man-made virus, patented in 2015! The day it was released was the patents expiry date!!!
Patents expire?
you only get 12 years, but you can renew it for a fee, now the fee is high as are the original fees. I forget how many times you can renew, might be 4, could be 2. But expiring in 5 years that does not sound right, might want to look it up yourself
This AFP article looks reasonable. https://www.sciencealert.com/who-is-holding-an-emergency-meeting-on-the-human-to-human-virus-spreading-in-asia
Chinese nationals come and go around universities — I can’t see much significance in that (yet). Interesting that the AFP filename differs from the posted title, which is more informative: Officials Just Confirmed China’s Mystery Virus Spreads by Human to Human Transmission
This is a bit like click-bait, but reasons that a virus with a so-far-as reported fatality rate between 2 and 3 percent–hitting those with compromised immune systems–does not warrant closing down a city; therefore, perhaps the fatality rate is higher. The piece even mentions that closing down a city involves central security control and may not result in favorable health outcomes. (So maybe this is a control issue?) https://www.wired.com/story/would-the-coronavirus-quarantine-of-wuhan-even-work/
If you take a look at the history of the word quarantine, you’ll find effective use of that practice related to epidemics in earlier centuries in which islands were used for isolating potential carriers.

https://keyt.com/lifestyle/entertainment/2020/01/22/airport-screenings-for-the-wuhan-coronavirus-increase-around-the-world/ Last weekend, the CDC started health screenings for Wuhan passengers arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport. Starting this week, Wuhan passengers will also be screened at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Passengers flying in from Wuhan, whether on direct or indirect flights, will only be allowed to land at one of those five US airports doing health screenings, which include a temperature check and observation for symptoms such as a cough and trouble breathing.
[me — except for those flying in from Wuhan who decide to go to through another country, then cross the border into the US….]

‘I think the Chinese activities … are highly suspicious,’ one expert said, after it was revealed a Winnipeg lab sent samples of Ebola and henipavirus to China
In a table-top pandemic exercise at Johns Hopkins University last year, a pathogen based on the emerging Nipah virus was released by fictional extremists, killing 150 million people.
A less apocalyptic scenario mapped out by a blue-ribbon U.S. panel envisioned Nipah being dispersed by terrorists and claiming over 6,000 American lives.
Scientists from Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) have also said the highly lethal bug is a potential bio-weapon.
But this March that same lab shipped samples of the henipavirus family and of Ebola to China, which has long been suspected of running a secretive biological warfare (BW) program.
China strongly denies it makes germ weapons, and Canadian officials say the shipment was part of its efforts to support public-health research worldwide. Sharing of such samples internationally is relatively standard practice.
But some experts are raising questions about the March transfer, which appears to be at the centre of a shadowy RCMP investigation and dismissal of a top scientist at the Winnipeg-based NML.
“I would say this Canadian ‘contribution’ might likely be counterproductive,” said Dany Shoham, a biological and chemical warfare expert at Israel’s Bar-Ilan University. “I think the Chinese activities … are highly suspicious, in terms of exploring (at least) those viruses as BW agents. “

5 – I can think of several nations and or organizations that would want this man dead, coming this soon after Solomini was killed this has to have disrupted the process of promotion to higher rank and to have disrupted the planning and execution of several attacks on Iran’s enemies.
Within 48 hours of Soleimani’s death, the Regime arrested some 40 Commanders that were loyal to Soleimani. The Regime fears disunity among the IRCG/Quds ranks, thus those loyal to Soleimani are being dealt with.
