Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Clashes Between Followers of Shia Parties, Police Taking Place in Downtown Beirut (sputniknews, Dec 12, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201912121077548450-clashes-between-followers-of-shia-parties-police-taking-place-in-downtown-beirut/

“Lebanese police are clashing on Thursday with followers of the Shia parties, trying to prevent them from coming to the squares of Downtown Beirut, occupied by peaceful protesters, eyewitnesses told Sputnik from the site.

“The clashes between followers of the Hezbollah [movement], the Amal Movement and police are taking place on the Ring Bridge near the Martyr’s Square and the Riad Al Solh Square. Police are using tear gas to prevent aggressive groups from access to peaceful demonstrators. Followers of the Shia parties are throwing stones to police officers”, the eyewitnesses said.

Some Lebanese media also report that Shia activists were throwing Molotov cocktails at police officers.

That is not the first attempt of Shia activists to attack opposition demonstrators, whose camps were set on fire and looted.

People have remained in the streets of Lebanon since 17 October, despite premier Saad Hariri and his cabinet being dismissed, to demand economic reforms, specifically in the banking sector.

Before Hariri’s cabinet resigned, both of the main Shia-based groups, Hezbollah and the Amal movement, were represented in the Lebanese government.”

At least 3 patients were killed after scores of lawyers clad in business suits besieged a hospital in Pakistan, storming the building and attacking staff and patients alike. The crowd was eventually dispersed by police tear gas.
The angry mob descended upon the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore on Wednesday, attacking just about everyone in sight as the lawyers ransacked hospital wards, which forced staff to leave patients unattended, some in critical condition.

Protests over a controversial bill giving fast track Indian citizenship to non-Muslims have engulfed the state of Assam. The government responded with a redeployment of troops, curfews, and a suspension of internet services.
The protests in the northeastern state turned violent on Wednesday night after the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed by the Indian parliament – now one presidential signature short of becoming law. Angry people targeted the homes of high-ranking members of the ruling BJP party, who they accuse of stirring sectarian tensions and discriminating against Muslims.

  4. Zachary Berg usually buys guns and ammunition with relative ease. After all, he’s a Sutter County sheriff’s deputy and needs them for his job. California’s stringent gun laws usually don’t apply to him.

But Berg couldn’t buy shotgun shells at his local hardware store in Yuba City prior to a duck hunting trip last month. He was rejected under California’s stringent ammunition background check program that took effect July 1, because his personal information didn’t match what state officials had in their database.

Berg was one of tens of thousands of Californians who have been turned away from buying ammunition at firearms and sporting goods stores, even though they appear to be lawfully able to do so, a Sacramento Bee review of state data shows. Between July 1 and November, nearly one in every five ammunition purchases was rejected by the California Department of Justice, the figures show.

Of the 345,547 ammunition background checks performed, only 101 stopped the buyer because he or she was a “prohibited person” who can’t legally possess ammunition, according to state Department of Justice data.

Yet another 62,000 ammunition purchases were rejected as well. Those people left empty-handed because their personal information hadn’t been entered into the state’s system, or the information on their identification cards didn’t match what officials had entered into the California gun registry database, which retail sellers must review when they do the ammunition background check.

“It’s a little ironic the fact I’m a deputy that I can’t buy ammunition,” Berg said. “But at the same time, anybody else who’s legally allowed to, they shouldn’t be denied based on address (errors). … It’s just crazy.”

  5. FBI Lied To Congress About Fake ‘Defensive’ Briefing Of Trump Campaign In 2016
DECEMBER 11, 2019 By Chrissy Clark
A 2017 letter from the FBI, responding to a senator’s inquiry about the nature of the agency’s counterintelligence briefings with the Trump campaign, was contradicted on Wednesday by the testimony of Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz. This latest revelation of FBI lies exposes more undue spying and abuse of power at the highest levels of the intelligence agency.

On September 20, 2017, Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa sent a letter to the FBI Director Christopher Wray, asking about whether or not the FBI ever provided the Trump campaign with a defensive briefing regarding Russian interference in 2016.

“I write to inquire about whether the FBI ever provided the Trump campaign with a defensive briefing or other warning regarding attempts to infiltrate the campaign by people connected with, or compromised by, Russian intelligence,” Grassley wrote.

On October 26, 2017, the FBI responded saying they did provide a counterintelligence defense briefing to then candidate Donald Trump and other campaign officials.

“In August of 2016 the FBI provided a counterintelligence defensive briefing to then candidate Donald Trump and other senior campaign officials. This defensive briefing was conducted by an experienced FBI counterintelligence agent and focused on the broad range of threats posed by foreign intelligence entities,” wrote Gregory Brower, assistant director in the FBI’s Office of Congressional Affairs.

During Senate Judiciary Committee hearings with Horowitz on Wednesday, an exchange with Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina uncovered how the FBI not only failed to brief the Trump campaign on the alleged Russian interference they were so concerned about, but used their meeting with the campaign as an opportunity to spy.

“If this is a counterintelligence investigation, who are they trying to protect?” Graham asked Horowitz.

“Well, if it’s the threat outlined in the ‘Friendly Foreign Government Information’ you would be looking to protect the election process, which would include the campaign, the candidate, and the American people,” Horowitz said.

“Did [the FBI] ever brief Hillary Clinton about efforts to foreign influences involving her campaign? Do you know?” Graham asked.

“I’ve heard that, but I don’t know that for fact,” Horowitz said.

“They did. Good for them,” Graham said. “And they stopped it. Was there ever a defensive briefing given by the FBI Department of Justice to Donald Trump about the concerns?”

    “There was not,” Horowitz said.

  6. Sixteen-year-old Sadie Earegood has turned to local police with the claim that her teacher recently ripped a “Women for Trump” pin off her chest.

The high school junior told a local NBC affiliate in Mason, Michigan, that teacher Paul Kato couldn’t agree to disagree upon seeing her political pin on Dec. 5.

“I was just really shocked that a teacher would especially do that,” she told the station on Monday. “He’s talking about the ‘Women for Trump’ pin and I said, ‘That’s fine you don’t have to like it, we can have our opinions.’ “

Sadie said it wasn’t long before Mr. Kato had wrestled control of the pin and put in on his own body — upside down.

“He grabbed it and I pulled and I tried to push his hand away and he grabbed my shoulder, just kind of put his hand there, and then he started pulling more and more and I just started backing up,” she said. “I just want him to know that it’s not OK to do that.”

  7. The migrant who attempted to set a bus full of children on fire earlier this year has claimed that populist leader Matteo Salvini is to blame for his actions due to his closed-port policies.

Ousseynou Sy, who attempted to light a bus on fire containing 50 children in March to protest the deaths of migrants in the Mediterranean sea, claimed in court that he was not a terrorist and that Senator Salvini was responsible for deaths of migrants in the Mediterranean, il Giornale reports.

According to the Senegalese-background man, Salvini was “responsible for the deaths of children and other people in the Mediterranean” and went on to allege that Salvini was involved in “crimes against humanity”.

He added that the closure of Italy’s ports to migrant transport NGOs, a policy spearheaded by Salvini which led to a reported decline in drownings, prevented the rescue of migrants at sea and added that Africa has “always been the object of bullying by the West”.

  8. London-based Hamas official Zaher Birawi has been very busy in the run-up to the December 12 General Election. He runs from meeting to meeting in London. His packed schedule includes tireless activity at Europal, the European-Palestinian Media Forum, support conferences for Jeremy Corbyn and the UK’s Labour Party and endless media interviews. His most common talking point: the dangers of having Boris Johnson as Prime Minister and a full-throated defence of Corbyn from allegations that he is an anti-Semite.

Birawi has launched social media campaigns calling on Muslims in Britain to vote for Corbyn, and personally acted within the congregation at the mosque in Finsbury for this purpose. He spent many years there after leaving Gaza. He is very familiar with the mosques in London, Finsbury Park Mosque and Muslim Welfare, where he met Corbyn years ago.

Birawi and his colleagues in London are the core of the Hamas leadership and the Muslim Brotherhood in the Kingdom. Many of them are known to the Israeli security service and their institutions are outlawed.

Birawi’s busy pre-election agenda has engaged much of the intricate network Hamas has established in London. Its vigorous support for Corbyn is just the tip of the Hamas London iceberg. In Israel, Birawi is believed to be the unofficial representative and head of the “London Hamas group.”

Alongside him are Mohammed Zawallha, Azzam Tamimi, Ibrahim Hamami, Annas Tikriti, Kamal Hawash and Adnan Hamidan, all Hamas activists and the members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

  9. The Ring camera was only up for four days in the girls’ room before the family says someone found a way to manipulate it, turning the security device into a room of horror.

“I did a lot of research on these before I got them. You know, I really felt like it was safe,” said Ashley LeMay.

The camera was supposed to add a level of protection, a way for LeMay to keep an eye on her three daughters and seem close by while working her overnight nurse shifts.

The Ring camera was a Black Friday deal and came with a recommendation from another mom.

“She had one and she was like watching her kids on her phone and I was like ‘oh you can actually speak to them. That’s really neat’,” said LeMay.

Four days after the camera went up 8-year-old Alyssa heard something strange coming from her room.

“First, what happened I was in the hallway I thought it was my sister because I hear music. It’s like ‘tiptoe through the window.’ So I come upstairs and I hear some banging noise and I am like ‘who is that’,” she said.

When they played back the Ring video recording, her parents heard the alarming encounter Alyssa had with a man watching her room.

  13. MONTREAL – Muslim partner of Muslim woman found dead in Montreal’s east end had been ordered to stay away from her

MONTREAL — The body of 42-year-old Dahia Khellaf, as well as her two young boys, aged two and four, were found Wednesday morning in a home in Montreal’s east endPointe-aux-Trembles neighbourhood.

At 8 a.m., police arrived at the residence on Place des Pointeliers, near Saint Jean Baptiste Boulevard, to inform them of the death of someone they knew.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says 46-year-old Nabil Yssaad walked into a hospital in Joliette at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, where he later died by suicide.

Police sources confirmed to CTV News that the two incidents are linked.

“When the police arrived on the scene, they were worried because there was no answer, so they [went inside],” said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture. “Inside the residence, they located the body of three people; one woman and two children.”

Police said the deaths were confirmed onsite and are considered “suspicious” at this point in the investigation.

A perimeter has been established and investigators are onsite. Police are trying to determine the exact cause of the three deaths.

Pascale Lamy, a spokesperson for the Centre Hospitalier de Lanaudière (CHDL), confirms an incident did happen at the hospital, but would not elaborate.

She says the person who died was not an employee, a patient or someone who was there for an appointment.

    Domestic complaints, assault charges

A man who knew the family told CTV News that he saw the police at the home two or three times responding to domestic complaints.

The last time, the father moved out for a brief period before returning, he said.

Court records involving two people with the same names show that Yssaad was charged in August 2018 with assault with a weapon against Khellaf.

He was acquitted last week after signing an agreement not to contact her and to stay away from her home and workplace, except for court-approved visitation.

A neighbour told reporters he has seen police come to the house in the past, adding Yssaad “was not someone we could talk to. He didn’t like it if we asked questions.”

Another neighbour referred to the incident as “extremely sad.”

“The mother used to complain to my mother that he was schizophrenic and they had a lot of problems,” he said.

Montreal police investigators and forensic experts were still on the scene Wednesday evening. Autopsies will be conducted on the bodies Thursday.

‘All seemed normal’ at home where mother, two boys found dead

Police make gruesome discovery in Pointe-aux-Trembles. Father is reported killed by suicide at Joliette hospital.

The two boys, ages two and four, living on Place des Pointeliers St. were often seen playing outside on their bicycles with their mother not far behind.

Just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, all three were discovered dead in their Pointe-aux-Trembles home.

Police arrived at the grey-bricked rowhouse — situated on a quiet residential crescent a few blocks away from the riverfront — to deliver the news that the boys’ father had taken his own life on Tuesday night.

Nabil Yssaad, 46, died in Joliette. Reports said he threw himself from the sixth floor of a hospital, where he had gone to the ER saying he had suicidal thoughts.

It was the second attempt by Montreal police to contact the family.

“Police became worried because there was no answer and nothing moving inside the house and they decided to enter,” Constable Manuel Couture said.

“That’s when they discovered the three bodies.”

Police entered the house through an unlocked door, Couture said.

The three deaths, which were declared at the scene, had not been ruled as homicides as of Wednesday evening, but police say autopsies were underway. Crime scene technicians were still at the scene late Wednesday.

A crime scene perimeter was set up, and investigators from the major crimes division were there all day. The bodies remained inside.

Police did not identify the victims. The house is registered in the names of Nabil Yssaad and Dahia Khellaf.

In August 2018, Yssaad was arrested and charged with armed assault, but was acquitted.

Last week, he signed a peace bond promising to keep good behaviour and to stay at least 100 metres away from Khellaf, except to see his children.

Yssaad had been living at two different addresses in St-Léonard for the last two years.

Speaking to reporters, a neighbour said he rarely saw Yssaad, but often saw the boys playing on the street and riding their bicycles with their mother.

“They lived here for two years and when they moved in, (Yssaad) introduced himself to all the neighbours,” said Yann Kedja, 19. “I never met him, but the mother was here a lot. She would play with her kids. They all seemed normal.”

He said both the mother and the father worked at a hospital.

“I never imagined anything like this would happen,” he said.

It was not known if the mother and boys died before or after the father. As of Wednesday night, police had not released the time of their deaths.

Couture said police did not know the couple living in the house, and had not visited for calls of domestic violence.

This is the second incident of violent deaths involving children in recent weeks in Montreal.

Protesters in India recently attacked train stations in the northeast over a new citizenship law. Demonstrators vandalized four stations in Assam Thursday in response to the country’s new Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). The law was approved Wednesday, allowing for a speedy application process for non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attempted to calm protesters with tweets, but many in the region were unable to read them due to an internet block. Meanwhile, Islamic groups have theorized the bill is a way for Modi to push a Hindu-Nationalist agenda.

GUWAHATI, India (Reuters) – Violent mobs in India’s northeastern state of Assam torched buildings and clashed with police on Thursday, leaving two dead and 11 with bullet wounds, as protests grew over a new citizenship law for non-Muslim minorities from some neighboring countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist government has said the Citizenship Amendment Bill, approved by parliament on Wednesday, was meant to protect minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The law seeks to grants Indian nationality to Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs who fled the three countries before 2015.

Of the twenty-one people who were arrested across seven police districts in the country, eight of the suspects – six men and two women – are set to appear in a Copenhagen court on Thursday. They’re accused of procuring bomb-making materials and attempting to obtain illegal firearms.

According to the newspaper, the remaining thirteen suspects have been released but were still charged with the terrorist clause.

When she demanded hormone therapy, the parents declined her request and authorities later decided to remove the girl from their custody, Yle reports.

  19. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) tweeted the attack that left six people dead at a Kosher market in Jersey City, New Jersey Tuesday was an act of white supremacy. Officials confirmed Wednesday, however, the attackers were linked to a black supremacist group the Black Hebrew Israelites, a law enforcement official told The New York Times.

Notably, the same group was responsible for confronting a group of high school boys from Covington Catholic visiting the Lincoln Memorial in January. In a later statement released by student Nick Sandmann, the group called the students ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’ ‘white crackers,’ ‘f—-ts,’ and ‘incest kids.’

The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the group as a black nationalist group with a mission to fight white supremacy. They warn the group is likely to grow and continue to target, Jewish people, White people, and police.

They are associated with prominent anti-semite Louis Farrakhan, who in February said, “I don’t care what they put on me. 20. Spokane Prosecutes Pastor For Trying To Pray For Kids At Public Library Drag Queen Show
In Spokane, 649 rape kits are awaiting attention, an opioid crisis is raging, and a serial killer hasn’t been caught, yet the city is throwing the book at a pastor who objects to a sexual minstrel show performed for children.
    Anna BohachBy Anna Bohach
    DECEMBER 12, 2019
This last June, a Christian pastor named Afshin Yaghtin dared to question the sexualization and objectification of our children on public property, and he paid the price. After his case was thrown out of court, last week Spokane officials announced they’ll appeal their prosecution of him for attempting to nonviolently use his free speech on public property.

In June, Yaghtin attempted to enter the Spokane, Washington, South Hill Public Library to quietly pray for children attending a Drag Queen Story Hour, an event in which a crossdressing person reads young children books about sexuality. When Yaghtin stepped onto the public property of the library parking lot, a slew of police officers confronted him and informed him he would not be allowed on public property — because he was a Christian opposed to men in dresses reading to children and exposing them to a sexual fetish.

This author was present at this event and watched as police arrested Yaghtin, who was not holding a sign or a megaphone, nor attempting to be disruptive. He simply wanted to enter a public building and exercise his constitutionally guaranteed rights. The pastor objected to police obstructing him from entering a public building because of his Christian faith — and they promptly arrested him for obstructing them. Yaghtin did not fight with police, and he did not raise his voice. He simply told the officers he had a constitutionally guaranteed right to enter the public library.

One would think that after Yaghtin was arrested, he would be let go with at most a warning, as he was not threatening, violent, or even an agitator. But the Spokane City Attorney’s Office pressed full charges against this dangerous Christian who dared to exercise his constitutional rights.

Thankfully, when brought before a Spokane Municipal Court, the judge rightly threw out the case for violating Yaghtin’s right to free speech and for a lack of evidence. This was a huge win for free speech and religious liberty — or was it? Unfortunately, this story is not over yet. The City of Spokane Prosecutor’s Office has indicated it plans to appeal the judge’s decision and make an example out of this Christian man.

  21. The United States was warned Wednesday by the United Nations it cannot avoid compensating poorer nations hit by climate change, despite Donald Trump honoring his election promise of leaving the 2015 Paris climate agreement.

Delegates and observers at the COP25 negotiations in Madrid told AFP that Washington seeks a change to the U.N. climate convention that could release it from punitive “loss and damage” funding for developing nations which is predicted to run into the billions of dollars.

Under the bedrock U.N. climate treaty, adopted in 1992, rich nations agreed to help developing countries prepare for unavoidable future climate impacts — the twin pillars of “mitigation” and “adaptation”.

But there was no provision for helping countries and small island states now calling for compensation.

A new mechanism was established in 2013, but with damage estimates climbing, there is no agreement on where the money might come from or even if it should be paid, although the U.S. is constantly the target of calls for financial reparations because it is rich, successful and a dominant world economic force.

Note: time to terminate the UN. Please, President Trump, take the US out of the United Nations and watch them collapse in on themselves!

  22. China’s Economy is “Going Down” – China’s Economic Growth Rate is Now LESS THAN the US’s Rate of Growth

You can feel it in Hong Kong. The economy is sluggish. The question is – is the slowing Hong Kong Economy related to the protests which clearly have negatively impacted the local Hong Kong businesses or is the Hong Kong downturn related to a slowing China economy. Now we know the answer.

We’ve reported for months and again a week ago that President Trump has the US in the position that it can only win in a deal with China. President Trump’s economy is on fire – more Americans are working than every before, unemployment is at 50 year lows, wages are way up and the stock market is at record highs.

A week ago CNBC’s Jim Cramer said that the US is enjoying its greatest economy in his lifetime –

  23. Horowitz report proves Adam Schiff lied in Democrats’ committee memo in 2018
By Jeff Dunetz December 12, 2019

February 2018 saw Rep. Devin Nunes, the House Intelligence Committee chairman, release a four-page memo disclosing that the Carter Page FISA process that allowed the FBI to begin spying on the Trump Administration was abused. The report revealed that the FBI had obtained surveillance warrants from the FISA court using the Steele Dossier as a significant part of that application, and the FBI never told the FISA court about Mr. Steele’s political and media ties.

At the end of the same month, Adam Schiff, the ranking member, issued his own memo saying that the FBI did not abuse the FISA process, withhold evidence from the FISA Court or subvert the process in any way. Schiff’s memo also claimed that “DOJ cited multiple sources to support the case for surveilling Page—but made only narrow use of information from Steele’s sources about Page’s specific activities in 2016.? The technical term for Schiff’s claim is: BS!

The Horowitz report proved Nunes was telling the truth in his memo, and Adam Schiff’s memo was another example of Schiff lying to the American people.

The Horowitz tome explains that the FBI first considered surveilling Carter Page in August 2016, but FBI lawyers rejected the action because there wasn’t enough probable cause. But a month later, in September, the FBI received the phony Steele dossier, which, according to Horowitz, “played a central and essential role” in the decision to go to the FISA court. Part of the FISA application “relied entirely” on “information from Steele Reports.” (See pages 3-5 of the Horowitz report.)

  24. Denmark police say terror attack plans foiled, 20 arrested

Some of the suspects will be charged under anti-terror laws following country-wide raids; no details provided on plot

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Danish police have arrested “some 20 people” suspected of involvement in Islamist terrorism in a series of raids across the country, authorities said Wednesday.

Flemming Drejer, the operative head of the Denmark’s Security and Intelligence Service, said the suspects were “driven by a militant, Islamist motive.”

Copenhagen Police Chief Inspector Joergen Bergen Skov said some of them would be charged under the Scandinavian country’s terror laws on Thursday behind closed doors.

“Some had have procured things to make explosives and have tried to acquire weapons,” Bergen Skov told a joint press conference with the domestic intelligence service.

Bergen Skov said police raided about 20 addresses in Denmark and six police departments across the country were involved. The raids and arrests were coordinated by the Copenhagen police.

No details were given as to what the target was or when an attack would take place.

Danish authorities have reported foiling several extremist attacks in recent years, including ones linked to the 2005 publication in a newspaper of 12 cartoons by various artists depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

A Danish court earlier this year gave a Syrian asylum seeker in Sweden a 12-year prison sentence for planning to explode one or more bombs in Copenhagen and stabbing random people with kitchen knives. Moyed Al Zoebi, 32, acted on behalf of the Islamic State group, according to the Copenhagen City Court.

Al Zoebi had an accomplice, Dieab Khadigah, who was sentenced in Germany in July 2017 to a prison term of six-and-a-half years.

“Terrorists are preparing to stage chemical attacks and the destruction of infrastructure in the south of the Idlib de-escalation zone, Maj. Gen. Yuri Borenkov, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry’s Center for Reconciliation in Syria, said on Thursday.

“The Russian center for the reconciliation of the warring parties received information that the leaders of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group (formerly known as the Al-Nusra Front*), together with members of the pseudo-humanitarian organisation White Helmets, were plotting to stage the use of toxic substances and the destruction of civilian infrastructure in the settlements of the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zone”, he said.

The purpose of these provocations is the preparation of photo and video materials for distribution on Internet resources, Middle Eastern and Western media publications with allegations that Syrian government forces were using chemical weapons against civilians and conducting indiscriminate attacks, he added.

He also said that the Russian military police is continuing to patrol routes in the provinces of Aleppo, al-Hasakah and Raqqa…”

  26. Greece Ready to Host US Military Bases Amid Turkey’s Threats to Close Incirlik – Source
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201912131077558181-greece-ready-to-host-us-military-bases-amid-turkeys-threats-to-close-incirlik—source/

“Greece could host US military bases on its territory if Turkey decides to close the Incirlik and Kurecik airbases, a Greek diplomatic source told reporters on Thursday.

“Obviously, we can host any facility. We, fortunately, have enough of those”, the source said, answering the question on Greece’s readiness to host US military bases if Turkey will close them.

When asked about Greece’s willingness to place nuclear weapons on its territory, which are reportedly located in Incirlik, the source replied that he could not confirm whether such weapons were actually located in Turkey.

According to the source, should the US express the desire to expand its military cooperation with Greece, Athens would gladly consider it.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday that Ankara could respond to Washington’s sanctions over Turkey’s purchase of the Russian S-400 missile systems, including by closing the Incirlik and Kurecik airbases.

On 5 October, the US and Greece signed a revised defence cooperation deal as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Athens. The deal involved an increase in joint US-Greece military activity, but Pompeo denied that the agreement was against any third party.”

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201912121077557700-lnas-haftar-announces-start-of-final-operation-to-take-over-tripoli/

“East Libya’s Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar announced the start of the Libyan National Army’s final offensive to gain control over rival Government of National Accord-held Tripoli.

“The zero hour passed, to all military units … The hour that our people in Tripoli were looking forward to,” Haftar said in an official statement.

Last week, the foreign minister for the Government of National Accord stated that the downing of a fighter jet belonging to Khalifa Haftar’s forces proved that his army would not be able to take the Libyan capital. The statement came after the GNA’s operations command tweeted that a MiG-23 jet of Haftar’s National Libyan Army had been shot down near the Yarmouk military camp, south of Tripoli.

In April, Haftar ordered his troops to march on the capital to retake it from what he claimed were terrorists. Ensuring fighting has reportedly killed civilians and displaced over 100,000 people.

After Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and killed in 2011, Libya ceased functioning as a unified state. Two rival governments – the internationally-recognized GNA and the Libyan National Army – have split the country into two parts.”

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-7786347/Turkey-acquires-new-military-drone-machine-gun-mount-fire-bursts-15-bullets.html

“Turkey will be the first customer for a new military drone with a machine gun mount that can fire single shots or 15-round bursts and carry a total of 200 rounds.

Developed by the Asisguard, a technology firm in Ankara that specializes in military technology, the drone will use a laser sighting system to deliver a high degree of accuracy.

The drone will also use a set of robotic braces to offset weapon recoil and ensure the drone’s flight path isn’t thrown off by firing.

According to a report in the New Scientist, the drone will be able to hit targets as small as six inches from a distance of up to 650 feet.

The 55-pound drone, called Songar, will be able to travel up to six miles at heights of up to 1.7 miles above ground.

The machine gun will be equipped to fire 5.56 x 45mm NATO class bullets.

Songar drones can be flown in groups of up to three, all of which can be operated by a single controller.

The drone will also come equipped with a camera to make it useful for scouting and surveillance missions.

Songar will use GPS for navigation and its vision system will be operable day or night.

The drone was first announced by Asisguard in the spring, at the International Defence Industry Fair, an annual military technology conference in Istanbul.

The company described Songar as ‘the first Turkish-made automatic shooting stabilized armed drone.’

This summer, the company released a demonstration video showing the drone in action…”

  32. Corbyn apocalypse! Labour plummets to its worst EVER general election result with the party set to win just 191 seats – lower than Michael Foot in 1983
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7787007/Jeremy-Corbyns-tenure-Labour-leader-looks-over.html

“Jeremy Corbyn is on course to lead Labour to its worst ever set of general election results with the part on course to end up with just 191 seats, according to a bombshell exit poll.

If the exit poll proves to be true the party’s tally would be even worse than Labour’s previous low watermark under Michael Foot in 1983 when it crashed to just 209 MPs.

Mr Corbyn will now face immediate and intense pressure to quit as Labour leader after failing to get anywhere close to winning power in back to back elections.

The disastrous poll was greeted with dismay by shadow chancellor John McDonnell who said the numbers were ‘extremely disappointing’ as he blamed Brexit for the poor performance…”
