Yesterday, on Thursday afternoon, a 24-year-old asylum seeker caused a police operation in a supermarket on the street Pferdemarkt in Nordhausen, Germany.He had rioted in the supermarket and knocked over the shelf with the spirits. A video of the angry incident is currently spreading on the Internet. The market had to be evacuated for safety reasons. Police caught the migrant in front of the shopping centre. Because he had made an unstable impression, he was first sent to a hospital … The reasons for the tantrum are not known. ISTANBUL – A sudden move to raise fuel prices in Iran has sparked nationwide protests over the past week and, in turn, drawn a fierce crackdown by security forces, marking some of the worst violence in the country in years. Scores have been reported killed.
The protests have flared in many of the same areas that experienced unrest two years ago, when demonstrators protested a similar proposal to slash state subsidies. Then, as now, lower-income Iranians rose up against a system that they said had failed them economically.

Report: FBI wants to speak with Trump ‘whistleblower’

Eastbourne hotel fire: Public watches in horror as blaze engulfs iconic Claremont Hotel (express, Nov 22, 2019)

“EASTBOURNE fire fighters are tackling a major blaze at the seafront Claremont Hotel.
Photos show huge plumes of smoke billowing out of the hotel with aerial footage showing the roof completely destroyed. As many as 12 fire engines are at the scene on Eastbourne’s seafront, as well as ambulances, as smoke and flames were spotted billowing out of the building just before 9am. Firefighters are pumping seawater to the crews’ hoses in an effort to tackle the blaze.
Fire crews from Bognor Regis are on their way to help crews tackle the serious fire.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) confirmed it is attending the scene. The service said on Twitter: “Please avoid the area. Everyone’s been evacuated safely.”
They said all those inside had been accounted for.
It added there have been no reports of any injuries and advise members of the public to avoid the seafront.
Flames have reportedly ripped through the roof in under five minutes and have gutted the reception area.
One witness described the canopy as a “melted heap”.
The Assembly room of Eastbourne Town Hall is currently open for guests of the hotel and those affected by the fire.
Photographs show bright red flames throughout the building, with an enormous trail of smoke being seing in the sky above.
Videos from the scene show onlookers looking on in horror, as the iconic hotel becomes engulfed with flames.
Nearby residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed.
Roads in the area have been shut and Stagecoach are warning customers to expect delays to all local services in the seaside area.
In a statement ESFRS said firefighters were first called at 8.52am this morning. It said, “The Claremont hotel on the seafront has been evacuated and everyone has been accounted for.
“There are no reports of injuries. Crews are using breathing apparatus and main jets to tackle the fire.”
At 12.12pm East Sussex FIre Service said “steady progress” is being made.
South East Water have asked all Eastbourne residents to limit water usage as they are providing vast amounts of water to help put out the blaze.
The water company wrote on social media, “Calling all Eastbourne residents! Please limit your water use if you can. We are providing vast amounts of water to help put out the fire at the Claremont Hotel. Your support is much appreciated.”
The hotel is adults-only and is a stunning Victorian building close to Eastbourne pier.
It is Grade-II listed and dates from 1851-55 and is four storeys tall.
The expansive terrace that houses the hotel has been branded “the best series of buildings in Eastbourne” by Heritage England.”
CBC – Edmonton man sentenced for brutal murder of former girlfriend
An Edmonton man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison with no chance of parole for 18 years for the “grotesque and horrifying” murder of his former girlfriend.
In August 2015, Silva Koshwal stabbed Nadine Skow 101 times, then used a knife to remove some of her organs. Skow was killed in her bedroom during a frenzy that could have lasted as long as three hours. The majority of the stab wounds were inflicted while she was still alive.
At the time, a seasoned homicide detective called it the worst crime scene he had ever seen. Another responding police officer took stress leave after witnessing the aftermath of the brutality.
“It was a grotesque and horrifying incident from start to finish,” Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Sterling Sanderman told court Thursday.
“The savagery displayed by Mr. Koshwal is beyond comprehension.”
The judge acknowledged the case has taken a toll on everyone who’s been involved with it.
“It has been a very difficult case,” Crown prosecutor Laurie Trahan said outside court. “First responders show up at the scene. They see some horrific things, but at least they get to move on. I’ve had this file sitting on my desk for over four years now.”
Koshwal was found guilty in August of second-degree murder and offering an indignity to a dead body.
Trahan had asked the judge for a period of parole ineligibility of 20 to 25 years.
“I’d hoped for more, but I’m pleased with 18 years,” Trahan said, “knowing Mr. Koshwal will be off the streets of Edmonton for a good long time.”
The victim’s father, Harvey Skow, was also satisfied with the sentence imposed by Sanderman.
“We got him. That’s good,” Skow said outside court.
Koshwal, 43, has been in custody for the past four years, which means he will be eligible to apply for parole 14 years from now. He showed no reaction in the prisoner’s box when the judge sentenced him.
He was born in South Sudan and came to Canada in 1997. He has been a landed immigrant for 22 years and will automatically face deportation upon completion of his sentence.
‘Celebrate her life’
Court heard 15 victim impact statements Thursday. Sanderman said they allowed him to form a more complete picture of Skow, who died at age 38.
“She was a cherished daughter,” Sanderman said. “She was a caring and loving individual. She was a true contributor to her community. Her death was a true loss to many.”
The judge urged Skow’s parents to try to move forward.
“We’ve seen how much your daughter meant to those who truly knew her,” Sanderman told them. “In the future, you should celebrate her life and the positive effect it’s had upon many rather than dwelling upon her horrific death.
“Take comfort in the fact that you and your husband raised her well and she lived a good life.”
Sanderman thanked the friends and family members who included photos with their victim impact statements, calling it “a very, very warm, comforting picture.”
When asked outside court if he had anything he wanted to say about his daughter, Harvey Skow responded emotionally.
“We love her,” he said. “We miss her.”

“Two men are accused of breaking into a church in the French commune of Tarbes and vandalising the place of worship and soiling books with faeces.
The church attack occurred on Wednesday afternoon and saw the pair, who are still at large, take out prayer books which they proceeded to tear up, set on fire, and soil with human waste, French broadcaster Franceinfo reports.
The pair also emptied an entire fire extinguisher, threw a statue at the church’s benches, and toppled a crucifix which they also tossed to the ground.
Bishop Nicolas Brouwet, the bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes, said that he did not think the attack was necessarily motivated by the desecration of the church in a purely religious meaning, given that none of the holy objects was vandalised or stolen from the church’s altar.
He added that he wondered whether or not, in the wake of the attack, churches in France should be equipped with CCTV cameras to prevent further crimes from happening.
Mayor of Tarbes Gérard Trémège condemned the attack saying: “These acts should not be trivialised. Respect for beliefs and convictions of any kind must be absolute.”
The attack comes just weeks after thieves used a car as a battering ram to break down the historic doors of the UNESCO-recognised Oloron-Sainte-Marie cathedral in the French Pyrenees where they stole multiple gold religious objects.
Church attacks have become a significant problem across France in recent years. It has been estimated that on average there are as many as three attacks on churches per day in the country.
Many have spoken out against the growing trend of vandalism, arson, and desecration including conservative Cardinal Robert Sarah.
“The acts of desecration and vandalism in the churches are highly reprehensible,” Cardinal Sarah said earlier this year. He added: “They are the sad reflection of a sick civilisation that lets itself be swept away in the nets of evil. The bishops, priests, and the faithful must keep up their strength and courage.””

“A Muslim union in Norway has said they will be reporting an anti-Islam group for hate crimes after a Quran burning protest turned violent.
The protest, which was held by the group Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN), took place in Kristiansand and saw the leader of the group, Lars Thorsen, set fire to a copy of the Quran after throwing it into a nearby bin, NRK reports.
Counter-protesters then jumped barricades and fought with members of the SIAN. Police later arrested five counter-protesters for disturbing public order along with one who allegedly attacked police. A member of SIAN who did not comply with police orders was also arrested.
Akmal Ali, leader of the Muslim union in Agder, said that his organisation would be pursuing hate crime charges against SIAN.
“Lars Thorsen achieved his goal. He deceived the police and set fire to the Quran. The fact that he did this has created a lot of frustration among both adults and youths,” said Omar Sadiq, head of the Muslim Youth Union of Agder.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also expressed outrage over the incident, putting out a press release stating: “We expect such actions to be prevented and those responsible to be brought to justice as soon as possible.”
The outrage over the incident comes only months after Danish anti-Islam party Stram Kurs burned a copy of the Islamic holy text in front of the parliament in Copenhagen, but only garnered what a journalist at the scene described as “modest reactions”.
Previous anti-Islamisation protests by the group had provoked much stronger reactions, including demonstrations that turned into riots a month after the Quran burning incident.

“Dozens of illegals were found in two shipping containers in the British Isles that had travelled from mainland Europe in two separate incidents on Thursday.
Police in the Republic of Ireland confirmed that 16 male migrants believed to be of Middle Eastern origin were found in a sealed container during a routine inspection of cargo travelling by ferry from the French port of Cherbourg to Rosslare, County Wexford, according to Reuters.
All migrants were said to be in good health and are believed to be adults, though police are waiting on the assessment of one thought to be underage.
Immigration officers began processing the men yesterday at 2:40 pm, and it is believed that an Irish company owns the lorry trailer.
On Thursday evening, ten male migrants were found in a lorry in Essex on the M25 motorway near the town of Waltham Abbey.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said in comments reported by the Evening Standard: “Police were called to reports of people inside a lorry container at around 6 pm. Officers attended and found ten men in the rear of the container.
“They have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. One was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The driver has been arrested. Inquiries continue.”
On Tuesday, a cargo ship bound for the UK was turned back to the Netherlands after authorities found 25 illegals in a refrigerated lorry. Dutch media described the migrants as Middle Eastern-looking, and upon return, they were met by ambulances and immigration officers.
While on Wednesday, motorists called the police after seeing migrants throw oranges out of the back of a refrigerated lorry on the A14 at Brampton, Cambridgeshire, in a bid to be rescued. The Telegraph reports that the migrants had attempted the signal after becoming cold. Three were taken to hospital, but no serious injuries were reported.
The incidents come after 39 Vietnamese migrants were found dead in a refrigerated lorry container in Purfleet, Essex, last month. Several individuals in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Vietnam have been arrested.
Thames Valley Police confirmed on Friday that another man from Northern Ireland had been arrested in connection to the deaths on conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and conspiracy to traffic people.”

OIC chief demands international law to criminalize Islamophobia
JEDDAH: Muslim leaders on Thursday demanded the introduction of an international law to criminalize all acts of Islamophobia.
Announcing plans for the celebration of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) 50th anniversary in Jeddah on Monday, its secretary-general called for a global crackdown on individuals or groups responsible for “insulting religions or prophets.”
Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen told Arab News: “There are laws against anti-Semitism and racism. So, we request a law against mocking religions.”
In a report released by the OIC, he said that modernization and the Internet revolution had turned the world into a “global village” where religions and cultures should coexist, and races and nations must live side by side as neighbors.
“Islamophobia is a sentiment of excessive fear against Islam that is transformed into acts of intolerance and discriminations against Muslims and even violent crimes against people with Islamic attires.”
A press conference held at the Jeddah headquarters of the OIC, to reveal the organization’s anniversary plans, was attended by Al-Othaimeen along with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ deputy minister for public diplomacy, Dr. Saud Kateb, assistant secretary-general for humanitarian, social and cultural affairs, Tariq Ali Bakhit, and the assistant secretary-general for political affairs, Yousef Al-Dhobei.
Al-Othaimeen said the OIC had witnessed a remarkable expansion since it was founded half a century ago, working in many areas including backing for the Palestinian cause and the international fight against terrorism and extremism.
He pointed out that the organization had established the “Voice of Wisdom,” an electronic platform to combat hate speech on social media.
A host of foreign ministers of OIC member states are expected to attend the anniversary celebrations to be staged under the slogan, “United for Peace and Development.” The gathering will include an accompanying festival and symposium reviewing the most important political, economic and cultural issues currently being worked on by the organization, and a number of prominent Islamic figures will also be honored during the event.
Kateb highlighted the goals of the OIC, especially the Palestinian cause and spreading the culture of unity and solidarity among the Islamic community, and he praised the Kingdom’s efforts to support the achievement of its objectives.
On Islamophobia, Al-Othaimeen said that the behaviors of some Muslims who did not truly represent Islam, had brought prejudice to the surface.
“Islamic moderation centers and entities concerned with fighting extremism are reflecting the true image of Islam. When a successful Muslim physician, businessperson or engineer is found anywhere in the world, this person does not only represent himself but Islam in general. These are the good role models we are honored to introduce to the world,” he added.
“The decisions that the OIC works on implementing are basically decided upon by the presidents and leaders of the Muslim world who meet every three years. When they meet and issue a number of declarations, it is then the role of the OIC to put these decisions into effect whether they are cultural, humane, developmental or political.”
The secretary-general added that the real power of the OIC was in the shape of “moral authority.” He noted the “effective spiritual power” of King Salman hosting Muslim leaders in Makkah during the final days of the recent month of Ramadan.
“Any organization would definitely perish if it felt satisfied with what it had achieved. We, in the OIC, are looking forward to achieving more and more.”
Al-Othaimeen pointed out that the OIC regarded the issues of Muslim minorities, extremism and fighting terrorism as key areas for its focus.
“Also, we are highly concerned about the human rights violations against Rohingya Muslims, who were ethnically cleansed and displaced from their country.
“These issues are of great importance, to be worked on in collaboration not only with governments, but also with people and non-profit organizations, to prove to everyone that Islam is the voice of mercy, moderation and coexistence with Muslims and non-Muslims,” he added.

Hunter Biden-linked company received $130M in special federal loans while Joe Biden was vice president
An investment firm linked to Hunter Biden received over $130 million in federal bailout loans while his father Joe Biden was vice president and routed profits through a subsidiary in the Cayman Islands, according to federal banking and corporate records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.
Financial experts said the offshore corporate structure could have been used to shield earnings from U.S. taxes.
Rosemont Capital, an investment firm at the center of Hunter Biden’s much-scrutinized financial network, was one of the companies approved to participate in the 2009 federal loan program known as the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility, or TALF.
Under the program, the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Bank issued billions of dollars in highly favorable loans to select investors who agreed to buy bonds that banks were struggling to offload, including bundled college and auto loans.
According to federal records, 177 firms participated in TALF, many of them well connected in Washington or on Wall Street. For investors, there was little risk and a high chance of reward. The Federal Reserve funded as much as 90% of the investments. If the bonds were profitable, the borrowers benefited. If not, the department agreed to take over the depreciated assets with no repercussions for the borrowers.
“It’s very complicated to become qualified as a TALF borrower or as a TALF fund, if you will,” Carol Pepper, a wealth management specialist, told Forbes in 2009. “But that’s an example of where, if you can get into a TALF fund, you can benefit from this government program.”
Under the terms for the program, any U.S. company looking to invest in select categories of bonds was eligible to apply for the loans. However, the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve maintained the “right to reject a borrower for any reason,” and the internal selection process was criticized by some lawmakers as opaque and open to corruption.

Your not going to believe I am saying this, but if done right its a really good idea.
If they make heroin free to all registered users, and all addicts will register Im certain for free smack, you will initially see crime rates plummet, and then actual heroin use plummet.
There are two effective ways to stop people from using. Make the cost benefit unattractive, by arresting and forcing withdrawal in jails. After a while people will figure it isnt worth it.
The second way is to give the actual heroin for free. You get a known quality and purity that way, people do not have to destroy their lives to get the money for it. No more crime or prostitution to get the opiates etc. Some who are criminal or like prostitution still will, but the vast majority will stop.
Some will even have jobs as heroin is funny that way. The real damage it does is that people have to deconstruct their lives for the money. Doctors often stay working and addicted for life.
The way to make the problem worse and worse for ever, is free injection sites, no police enforcement, free paraphernalia and people still have to get the actual drugs from criminals.
Giving free medical heroin would pay for itself in reduced hospital costs ALONE never mind reduced enforcement costs.
And the real bonus is people tend to quit once the insecurity of supply dissapears.
I read a fantastic Economist article about heroin use in the 50s in the UK prior to CIA pressure to make it illegal there. It really was an eye opener. I think London had 12 junkies who got free heroin from the state and none had criminal issues. Shortly after the UK make it illegal, entire neighbourhoods were destroyed and became squats and drug dens.
Interesting. You may be right, but I prefer hanging the drug dealers from lampposts to set an example, then destroying the organized crime that deals in this poison. If we don’t stop the heroin imports we certainly won’t stop the fentanyl, and derivatives thereof, from coming in via Chinese communist conduits.
