The RCMP has launched an internal review to make sure it’s obeying the law in the way it monitors Canadians’ social media accounts, according to documents obtained by CBC News.
The national police force says it keeps an eye on social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, among others) in two ways: reactively, after a crime has been committed, and proactively, to detect and prevent crimes.
During the recent election campaign, the RCMP even compiled daily threat reports on online expressions of hate targeting federal political leaders.
Now, the RCMP is auditing those techniques to make sure they agree with the law.
“How this information is handled and managed needs to be consistent across the country to ensure that court requirements are adhered to and that privacy concerns are met,” says a summary of the audit, obtained by CBC News through access to information.

4. UK: National Health Service to Deny Treatment for ‘Racist or Sexist Language, Gestures, Behaviour’
(If there is no private medical care available in the UK, then this would be a powerful argument against socialist medical systems. Even if there is actually.)
A National Health Service (NHS) trust has announced that it will withdraw treatment from patients it deems to be racist or sexist.
The North Bristol NHS Trust announced that patients will be subject a “sports-style disciplinary yellow card and then final red card in which treatment would be withdrawn as soon as is safe” on its official website.
The policy would cover not just “Threatening and offensive language” but also “Racist or sexist language, gestures or behaviour” more generally, as well as “malicious allegations” — a rather troubling caveat, given the NHS has in the past been entangled in large-scale malpractice scandals which hospitals and staff have initially denied.
“We have staff from many different backgrounds, from all over the world, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to equality which is a fundamental value of the NHS,” commented Andrea Young, Chief Executive for North Bristol NHS Trust.
“We’re sending a strong signal that any racism or discrimination is completely unacceptable – we want staff to challenge and report it and we want everyone to know that it will have consequences.”
(I think we can say with confidence that being pro-Trump would be considered racist and therefore a reason to not give you medical assistance. Also being pro Brexit. Because that they would say, is xenophobic and therefore grounds to deny you service. And pretty much for sure insisting on biological reality would be sexist, homophobic and transphobic. Oh its going to be worse than that. If you are a teen or pre teen girl and you have been gang raped and brutalized and you say it was Pakistanis or muslims, you wont get treated.
