  1. Turkey really has it coming. While I’m disgusted by the likes of the NYT and their propaganda war against our President (yes, our), there is only one path. Get the 50 US nukes out of Turkey, kick Turkey out of NATO, put US military resources into Greece, and concentrate all means to make Erdogan pay. This little caliphate must be put down like the mad dog it is.

    • Your suggestions are all good ones and will (probably) end up being done, while we would like to see them done right now that is politically impossible. Given the internal opposition and the international opposition crushing Turkey will take some time. Just think about how much European opposition to any move against Turkey.

      Plus if we start a physical war with Turkey the rest of NATO doesn’t have to and probably wouldn’t come to our aid. Letting Turkey start the violence means that (theoretically) all of the other NATO nations will have to provide military aid. I won’t hold my breath until that happens but another reason to move slow is that moving slow gives us some, not a lot but some moral cover.

      • I hear you Richard. The Europeans always act like weaklings. Regardless, the present situation with Erdogan is not “Sustainable” ( to coin a word I’ve come to hate).

        • I know how you feel, looking at what Trump is doing to help the Christians and other religious minorities you may get what you want much sooner then I originally thought.

  2. Heh! “Not sustainable”.
    I think Richard would attest that I advocated for moving the nukes out of Turkey at least 18 months ago. I would be surprised if that wasn’t the case by now, who knows.
    I think Trump was put between a rock and a hard place. Did he want to get into a shooting war with a NATO ally or move the 100- 1,000 American troops from the Turkey/Syria border… This small number of troops were being used as human shields against a corrupt NATO ally.
    If the Kurds want to ally with Russia and Assad, so be it. We have put our men and women in harms way in the region for 16 years now to no good result because there can’t be a good result.
    My first born son expressed an interest in joining the military back in 1999. He wanted to fly. Knowing nothing about the military or international affairs, I set myself on a crash course to learn what the hell was going on. By 2001 I concluded that nothing in our tool box would work in the Middle East.
    I stand by that conclusion.

    • You said that and I agreed with you, like you I would be surprised if a lot of those nukes weren’t already out of Turkey and the rest requiring a lot of work before they would work right. But with most of the high ranking officers being Obama loyalists who knows?
