Having seen Joker and the Chappelle Netflix thing I might like to add a few things.
First, the Chappelle Netflix special is pure leftism but done more cleverly than the usual sanctimonious bleating we are used to from Marxists. It is 100% pro abortion with no apology or equivocation, and it adds its own destruction of the family ideas suggesting that as men have no choice in conception, pregnancy and birth and women have all of it, maybe men shouldn’t have to pay for the rest of their lives for women’s choices.
Of course there is truth in that, but his answer to leftist created societal problems is more leftism, in part by more abandonment of personal responsibility. I tried to watch the Netflix special twice but as it was not that funny and a constant secret injection of leftism, I had to stop half way through both times.
On to joker:
Maybe people who plan to see it shouldn’t read the next bit as it may or may not constitute a spoiler. So ill put it below the fold.
There are only a couple of sympathetic nice normal people in the movie and they are all black females. The social worker(s) (I am not sure if the one at the start and end are the same or not, maybe not) and the imaginary black girlfriend he has. ALL the white male characters are awful. Soulless. Arguably what ANTIFA really is, but sold as what created ANTIFA, who appear at the end with clown masks instead of cloth masks. Some scenes remind the viewer of V for Vendetta.
The movie was engineered to be disturbing all the way through from the loud hum to the loud irregular percussion. It does a good job of forcing people to see inside the head of schizophrenics one might suspect, and and its probably a really good idea not to suggest to schizophrenics to go see this film.
The ultimate message is:
Free market bad because it creates rich people
Rich people bad because they are rich.
White people bad, especially if they are male.
Another review that pretty much gets it
***Please note: No offence is meant to the many really great people I know, some who are friends, who see this film differently than I did. To a hammer, everything is a nail, and I most decidedly saw this the way Computing Forever does, and the reviewer he mentioned. But I know people who saw this movie and really did see it as counter-narrative.
After 160 pages of Stephen’s document, one tends to see things through that lens more and more.***
I haven’t see the movie and I don’t intend to, I prefer to watch shows made before the left decided to force Marxism down our throats.
Having said that I think most of the hype out of Hollywood is designed to play us and push us in the direction the left wants.
The Hollywood crowd loved Hitler, the wheels on the bus go round and round.
I remember the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. And they just kept re-doing it over and over and over and over. Nowadays it seems that Hollywood loves making those garbage comic book movies over anything else. Comic books and remakes, over and over. It’s boring. To hell with the Joker.
The movie was in the hands of a poor director and an aging actor, emaciated to play someone younger, making me wonder at the time, that this Joker would be in his seventies when Batman hit thirty.
My lingering memory, is of the movie’s poor opening and closing camera shots of the Grand Budapest Hotel’s homage to Buster Keaton, with the wonderful Charlie Chaplin showing exactly how fixed camerawork can be done. https://youtu.be/vlMFQHbmtpg
I had no empathy with the character. What should have been a desperate desire for the love of an absent father – just became the desire for his status and money – for all the material things that he didn’t have. And so no more than being African-American.
And what should have been the desperate loss of his real mother, of actually losing his whole identity, in discovering that his betrayal was by the hands of another White Woman Fantasist – was lost to his life, just ‘Not Being Fair.’
A child who had started as sexually abused and turned into a cuck, then disintegrates before our very eyes into a totally-detached, revengeful narcissist who can become anyone; never actually made it to our screen.
Because, we should all have been very afraid of the Joker. But for the Grace of God, go I. To know our politicians and not distractedly look at their hands.
