Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. 71% of Republicans Considering Leaving California
    September 27, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

There’s a lot of talk of civil war. But there are a lot of things that happen before a civil war.

One of things is the different groups making it clear that they can’t co-exist and the cycle of repression and resistance. Consider that in light of these IGS numbers.

40% of Republicans say that they’re giving serious consideration to leaving California. Another 31% say they’re giving the idea some consideration.

Only 26%, a quarter, say they aren’t considering it.

Those are huge and disturbing numbers. If 71% of any other group were thinking about leaving a state, that would be news.

Here it’s buried underneath the usual ‘cost of housing’ stuff. (Sure, let’s raise some more taxes, pass more regulations and wait for housing to become affordable.)

  2. Never-Trump Squish Adam Kinzinger Trashes President Trump for Quoting Pastor’s Warning of Democrat Party’s Civil War Like Destruction of America

Popular Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress warned over the weekend that if Democrats are successful in removing president Trump through impeachment based on the latest bogus charges it will cause a civil war like fracture in America.

Dr. Jeffress went on with FOX and Friends on Sunday to respond to Nancy Pelosi’s wicked prayers for impeachment.

Jeffress believes Democrats don’t care if they burn down and destroy the nation in the process.

  4. Actor Randy Quaid to Adam Schiff: “Either Resign or be Taken Out in Cuffs – Your Dastardly Treasonous Dreams Must by Permanently Drained”

Last week Rep. Adam Schiff opened the House Intel impeachment investigation by rattling off a complete lie in his his opening statement on President Trump’s conversation with the Ukrainian President Zelensky.

When he was later called on this complete fabrication Adam Schiff said it was a parody.
Schiff thinks impeachment proceedings are a joke or a comedy show.

Last night President Trump called for Adam Schiff to be investigated.

  5. Former Government Directors, Attorneys and Agents Livid with Deep State CIA Whistleblower – “He Should Be Fired and Brought Up for Treason”

Former US government deputies, attorneys and agents are very upset with the Deep State “whistleblower” that attacked President Trump with bogus secondhand charges. Some are even calling for his arrest and immediate indictment for treason!

Dr. Steve Pieczenik, former CIA Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under five different administrations, shared the following in an urgent message to President Trump calling the current events “nothing more than a disguised coup by the CIA“. Dr. Pieczenik also claims “there is no such thing as a whistleblower in the CIA“.

  7. As Protests Escalate, TTAG Reader Sends More Photos From the Streets of Hong Kong

You may have seen our earlier post on the protests in Hong Kong. We have a reader there whose son is a photojournalist. He sent photos his son had taken from the streets of the city as the population rebels against communist Chinese rule.

The protests have only escalated in the weeks since. As the AP reported yesterday . . .

Protesters and police clashed in Hong Kong for a second straight day on Sunday, throwing the semiautonomous Chinese territory’s business and shopping belt into chaos and sparking fears of more ugly scenes leading up to China’s National Day holiday this week.

Riot police repeatedly fired blue liquid — used to identify protesters — from a water cannon truck and multiple volleys of tear gas after demonstrators hurled Molotov cocktails at officers and targeted the city’s government office complex.

It was a repeat of Saturday’s clashes and part of a familiar cycle since pro-democracy protests began in early June. The protests were sparked by a now-shelved extradition bill and have since snowballed into an anti-China movement.

  8. Shepard Smith Ordered to Stand Down After Feud with Tucker Carlson

Smith was ordered to back down after a back-and-forth with primetime ratings kingpin Tucker Carlson.

Liberal Fox News daytime host Shepard Smith has been ordered by channel management to back down Thursday after a heated feud with the station’s flagship host, Tucker Carlson, according to Vanity Fair.

Smith had been making sanctimonious stabs at Carlson, evidently taking offense to a guest(President Trump’s former lawyer, Joe DiGenova) who had referred to Andrew Napolitano as a “fool.” It’s unclear why such mild and slightly heated rhetoric was enough to send Smith into a conniption, but he referred to Tucker as “repugnant” for declining to defend Napolitano.

Not one to take holier-than-thou lectures from an elitist liberal who somehow has remained a mainstay at Fox despite holding political positions that one might expect to see at CNN or MSNBC, Tucker fired back. Carlson made it clear Smith was speaking as a liberal partisan, as opposed to a supposedly neutral spectator.

  9. Huawei Wants the World’s Next Trojan Horse to Be Chinese

    by Gordon G. Chang

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14936/huawei-china-trojan-horse

Rob Strayer, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Cyber and International Communications Policy, told reporters in Brussels on September 26 that the Trump administration is unlikely to grant another 90-day blanket waiver for transactions with China’s Huawei Technologies.

A 90-day waiver from Commerce Department prohibitions, the second granted, will expire November 19.

A refusal to grant a third waiver to the Chinese company, the world’s largest telecom networking equipment manufacturer and second-largest smartphone maker, would be the right move for the United States. After all, why should President Trump allow our companies to help Beijing steal the world’s data and remotely control devices connected to the internet?

In May, the Commerce Department, effective the 16th of that month, added Huawei to its “Entity List.” The designation meant no American company, without prior approval from Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, could sell or license to Huawei products and technology covered by the U.S. Export Administration Regulations.

Beijing has continually demanded the withdrawal of the designation and has made such a climbdown one of its preconditions to a comprehensive trade deal with the U.S.

  15. IRGC Chief: Elimination of Israel Not a Dream (tasnimnews, Sep 30, 2019)
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/09/30/2108179/irgc-chief-elimination-of-israel-not-a-dream

“Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami said elimination of the Zionist regime from the world map is one of the achievable targets in the second step of the Islamic Revolution.

In an address to the opening of a conference of IRGC commanders on Monday, Major General Salami said Iran has developed the necessary potential for the annihilation of the “fake Zionist regime” during the second step of the Islamic Revolution.

“This infelicitous regime (Israel) must be wiped off from the world geography in the second step (of the Islamic Revolution), and this is not an aspiration or dream anymore, but an achievable goal,” the commander added.

He further slammed the “fake and usurper regime” of Israeli as the example of a power that appears to possess offensive tools, but is too “fragile” in the face of an offense.

Highlighting Iran’s power in both offense and resistance, Salami said, “We can strike the enemy with any magnitude, any intensity, any accuracy, and over any area; our power is authentic.”

The IRGC commander also said that the enemies of Iran are suffering from an “irreversible decline”, are unable to turn their physical capabilities into political benefits, their strategic reserves have been depleted, and they confess to be suffering from “political dementia”.

He went on to say that Iran’s strategy of “active resistance”, devised by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, has prevented the enemies from adopting an effectual strategy.

In remarks in December 2016, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed high optimism that the Israeli regime will perish within years.

“The Zionist regime – as we have already said – will cease to exist in the next 25 years if there is a collective and united struggle by the Palestinians and the Muslims against the Zionists,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

As for any move against the Islamic Republic, the Leader has frequently warned the adversaries that they would face a “harsh reaction” in case of any offense against Iran, stressing that the era of hit and run is over.”

  16. Clashes erupt as thousands protest Indonesia legal reforms (saudigazette, Sep 30, 2019)
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/578622/World/Asia/Clashes-erupt-as-thousands-protest-Indonesia-legal-reforms

“Riot police fired tear gas at stone-throwing protesters as fresh protests erupted across Indonesia on Monday, sparked by a raft of divisive legal reforms including banning pre-marital sex and weakening the anti-graft agency.

At least two students have died and hundreds more were injured as unrest swept across the Southeast Asian archipelago, just weeks before President Joko Widodo kicks off a second term as head of the world’s third-biggest democracy.

In the capital Jakarta, some 26,000 police and soldiers were deployed while large crowds — including placard-carrying students and factory workers — chanted for change near parliament, which was barricaded with barbed wire.

Military vehicles rumbled along the streets as some students — with toothpaste smeared beneath their eyes to protect against tear gas — hurled projectiles. Many rallies, however, were peaceful.

The demonstrations have been fueled by a proposed bill that includes dozens of legal changes — from criminalizing pre-marital sex and restricting contraceptive sales, to making it illegal to insult the president and toughening the Muslim-majority country’s blasphemy law.

The protests are among the biggest student rallies since mass street demonstrations in 1998 toppled the Suharto dictatorship.

More than a thousand demonstrators were on the streets in Bandung on Java island, where a female protester held a sign saying: “What is in our pants is none of the government’s business”.

“I decided to join the demonstrations after I heard about the death of university students and that some were attacked by tear gas,” said Banyu Biru, a Bandung student still dressed in his high-school uniform.

“That’s just absurd — is this how the police protect the people?”

Passage of the controversial reforms has now been delayed.

Widodo has also said he would consider revising a separate bill that critics fear would dilute the powers of Indonesia’s corruption-fighting agency, known as the KPK.

“Why is this law being changed?” said Lukmanul Hakim Ahbr, a 24-year-old Indonesian who said he returned from his studies in neighboring Malaysia to join the protests.

“We students… reject any revision that will weaken the KPK,” he added.

Protesters have also demanded troops be pulled from Indonesia’s restive Papua region, where fresh violence killed more than 30 people this month.

They are also demanding a probe into the deaths of two university students on Sulawesi island last week, including one who was shot during the anti-government protests. The police said they are investigating, but denied responsibility.

At the rally in Bandung, high school teacher Iwan Hermawan was keeping a close eye out for his students.

“If any students join this rally and engage in violence I’ll immediately pull them out,” he said.

On Monday, scuffles broke out between authorities and some 2,000 university students on Lombok, an island next to Bali where hundreds also rallied.

Ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration of hundreds of members of parliament, Indonesia’s chief security minister Wiranto — who goes by one name — warned that any bloodshed would not be tolerated.

“I’m reminding protesters not to engage in violence or disrupt the inauguration of new lawmakers,” the minister told a press briefing.

Officials have portrayed the protests as being hijacked by agitators aiming to disrupt government — and suggested they were similar to May’s deadly post-election riots that paralyzed Jakarta. — AFP”

  17. the guardian – Houthis claim to have killed 500 Saudi soldiers in major attack

Yemen militant group says it captured further 2,000 troops in operation in Saudi Arabia

Houthi rebels in Yemen say they have killed 500 Saudi soldiers, captured a further 2,000 and seized a convoy of Saudi military vehicles.

The extraordinary claims at a press conference on Sunday, involving still photographs and inconclusive videos of captured soldiers, many not in uniform, could not be corroborated, and there was no independent confirmation from Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis, showing pictures of upturned Saudi vehicles and immobilised convoys, claimed the attacks had occurred over the past three days in the southern Najran region of Saudi Arabia, which borders Yemen, and would continue with greater intensity.

“Operation Victory from God is the largest military one since the brutal aggression began. The enemy suffered heavy losses … and wide swathes of territory were liberated in only a few days,” said the Houthi spokesman, Mohammed Abdul Salam.

He also claimed hundreds of Saudi soldiers lay dead or injured on the battlefield, and Riyadh had little option but to consider how to withdraw. He said the Houthis would end their attacks if the Saudis took reciprocal measures.

The attacks, if verified, would be a remarkable show of force inside Saudi Arabia and mark another embarrassment for the kingdom, after its US-made Patriot missile defence system failed to protect two Saudi Aramco oil sites from an attack by drones and cruise missiles earlier this month.

On Saturday, the Houthis claimed they had captured three Saudi brigades – a major proportion of the kingdom’s army. The group also says it was responsible for the oil attacks, but this has been disputed by western and European governments.

Saudi Arabia made no comment on the latest claims.

  19. Assad regime persecutes Syrian Christians, says human rights group (memo, Sep 30, 2019)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190930-assad-regime-persecutes-syrian-christians-says-human-rights-group/

“The Syrian regime of President Bashar Al-Assad has been destroying Christian churches and places of worship throughout the conflict in the country, a human rights group has reported. The community is often used as bait for targeting opposition groups, alleges the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), which has documented human rights violations by the regime and others since 2011.

The SNHR released a report earlier this month revealing the extent of attacks on Christian places of worship. It identified at least 124 such attacks, 60 per cent of which were conducted by regime forces.

Spokesman Wael Aleji told the Washington Examiner that due to Assad’s knowledge that Western nations monitor and are concerned about the situation of Middle Eastern Christians, his forces do not target churches directly. Instead, it ensures that opposition fighters are placed in the buildings to justify the attacks. In other cases in which minority Christian groups have claimed that Assad manipulates and threatens them, he allows members of extremist groups to occupy the churches before launching an operation to liberate them and present himself “as the protector of Christians”.

Aleji commented on the Syrian Christian community’s common perception that Assad is the best option for its safety and interests. “People think, well, we have no options really, we better stick with him. He’s bad, he’s brutal, he’s corrupt, but he’s better than complete chaos and probably Al-Qaeda style government.”

Two Syrian Christians who no longer live in the country told the magazine that Assad’s friendly face towards the Christian community is merely a propaganda tool to cement his rule and legitimacy among that section of the population as well as Western countries. Ayman Abdel Nour, a co-founder of Syrian Christians for Peace, said that Assad uses Christians “to consolidate his power and to empower himself.”

According to George Stifo, who belongs to the Assyrian Democratic Organisation – a political group banned by the regime – Assad and his regime do not “care if you’re a Christian or non-Christian or a Shia or Alawite… it’s a dictatorship. Anyone who opposes them will feel the wrath, regardless of what faith they belong to.”

The revelation counters the widely-held view that the Assad regime is the protector of Syria’s Christian community and other religious groups, and is the sole alternative to being subjected to the rule of a “jihadist” government under extremist groups such as Daesh. The news is particularly significant in the face of increasing concerns over the years by Western nations regarding the treatment of Christians in the Middle East, especially in the Levant, Syria and Iraq.

Bishop Nicholas James Samra of the Melkite Eparchy of Newton told Catholic News Agency that “the situation is very convoluted” in Syria and urged caution in interpreting the report’s findings.

His travels, he explained, leave him in “doubt very much if the regime of the Assad regime is responsible for the bombing of any churches and religious sites.”

Christians in Syria have long been perceived to be allied with the regime and with Assad’s own Alawite community, as well as many other ethno-religious groups and minorities within the country. They have also been particularly united against the alleged threat of Syria’s Sunni majority, which many believe to be one of the primary victims of the regime and the conflict.”

    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/09/283685/moroccan-trial-malaga-financing-isis-recruits/

“The Spanish National Court in Malaga began the trial of a Moroccan man on Monday, September 30, who faces charges of funding the travel of two individuals, including his wife, to join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The court identified the man only as “F.L.”

According to the Spanish outlet COPE, the Spanish prosecution are demanding a 10-year sentence for “funding terrorists.”

In addition to the prison sentence, the prosecutor’s office requested a fine of €25,319, 20 years of disqualification, and seven years’ probation.

The Moroccan allegedly made “constant contributions of money, amounting to a total of €6,329 euros, to cover his wife’s travel expenses to Syria through Turkey and join the armed jihad group.” He gave the money between March and November 2016.

According to the Spanish daily, the defendant’s money transfers, believed to be around a dozen, benefitted a third party as well.

Having exceeded the quarterly limit for international transfers, the Moroccan national had allegedly asked an individual to send €500 to the same destination. The individual is “now a protected witness,” reports COPE.”

  22. Dutch Police Department Fires Moroccan Police Chief Who Stood Against Racism (mwn, Sep 30, 2019)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/09/283722/dutch-department-moroccan-police-racism/

“The Netherlands’ National Police Directorate has fired Fatima Aboulouafa, a police chief known for objecting to the abuse of power, racism, and bullying within the police department. Aboulouafa, who worked in the southern city of Leiden, lost her job on Tuesday, September 24.

According to police chiefs within the Hague unit, “Aboulouafa’s attitude caused strong internal tension.”

The police chief of Moroccan origin had been working for 25 years in the police department. For the last year, she had had 130 police officers under her command, according to the Dutch news outlet, NRC.

In an interview with the Jinek TV program, Aboulouafa said: “I felt unsafe during my career due to discrimination…. I was also discriminated against because of my origin and because I’m a woman.”

Supporters created a Facebook page titled “We support Fatima Aboulouafa” in solidarity with her cause.

Created on September 25, the page already has more than 2,000 likes.

“It’s ridiculous that the whistleblower gets thrown out and the real culprits remain, and then at the police of all instances,” a sympathizer wrote today. “There is something deeply rotten in the State of the Netherlands.”

On September 24, Aboulouafa received a call from a member of the national police force leadership. The member told her that her presence “caused unrest among unit leaders, sector leaders, and team leaders.”

In a phone conversation with Aboulouafa about her stance, police chief Erik Akerboom ”emphasized the importance of diversity within the police force.”

He added in a personal blog that it is “painful and unacceptable (…) that the directorate turns a blind eye to indiscrete behavior.”

Aboulouafa’s firing seems to stem from an Instagram post. On June 6, the former police chief posted on Instagram a message complaining about discrimination in the police department.

In response to the post, her colleague Marian Zaal said her message tarnished the image of the police department. “The image that you paint about our great company at insta seems particularly negative to me. A pity!”

Aboulouafa’s stance received support from Monique Mos, head of operations at the National Police unit of the Hague. She wrote on the police intranet that discrimination and bullying by the police are “a persistent and difficult problem to eradicate.”

She called upon executives to take “signals seriously.”

Discrimination against Moroccan people is widespread in the Netherlands. In 2014, Dutch politician Geert Wilders asked a room full of supporters of his political party whether they want to see “more or fewer” Moroccans in the country. When the crowd shouted “Less!” Wilders replied, “We’re taking care of it.”

In December 2016, Wilders was found guilty of inciting discrimination and the panel of three judges said Wilders’ comments were “humiliating and insulting to the Moroccan population.”

The court, however, decided not to impose a fine or to sentence him, arguing that a criminal conviction was in itself a sufficient punishment.”

  23. Goethe Institute Suspends Scholarships for Moroccans Due to Runaways (mwn, Sep 30, 2019)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/09/283736/goethe-institute-scholarships-moroccans-runaways/

” The German international cultural center, known as the Goethe Institute, suspended all scholarships for Moroccan students due to security concerns on Monday, September 30.

The Goethe Institute told Morocco World News that the decision came after three out of 14 Moroccan students from this year abandoned their studies and refused to return home, wanting to settle in Germany illegally instead.

The suspension of scholarships will continue until the situation is “further clarified.”

“We have to check how to avoid illegal stays,” the director of the Goethe Institute in Morocco, Susanna Baumgart, told Morocco World News. “For the 2020/2021 school year, we are considering a new start.”

The Goethe Institute also ended its scholarships for Afghani students in 2010 for similar reasons.

Students from all over the world can apply for scholarships to attend language courses in Germany through the institute. Fourteen Moroccan students were going to Germany every year via the scholarships since 2008. The students were high school age.

The scholarships covered accommodation as well as a stipend for other expenses. Education itself is free in Germany.

In recent years, Germany has had a surge of migrants from the region either overstaying or coming illegally. In 2018, Germany deported 826 Moroccans illegally staying in the country, up from 634 in 2017.

According to the German Interior Ministry, the number of immigrants Germany has deported to the Maghreb region grew nearly 14 times from 2015.”

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-neutralizes-7-pkk-terrorists-in-north-iraq/1597924

“Turkish fighter jets neutralized seven PKK terrorists in an anti-terror operation in northern Iraq, the country’s defense ministry said on Monday.

In a Twitter post, the ministry said the terrorists were neutralized in Zap region in an airstrike carried out in coordination with Turkey’s ongoing anti-terror offensive Operation Claw.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq to plan cross-border terrorist attacks in Turkey.

On May 27, Turkey launched Operation Claw against the PKK in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq, followed by the operation’s second and third phases in July and late August.

Over 400 PKK terrorists have been “neutralized” in northern Iraq over the past four months, according to the ministry.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.”

“Islamophobic incidents rose across Europe due to the increase in far-right movements’ influence, according to a report by an Ankara-based think tank.

“European Islamophobia Report 2018,” released recently by the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA), focused in detail on the underlying dynamics that directly or indirectly support the rise of anti-Muslim racism in Europe.

The report shed light on “Islamophobic terrorism and the impact of anti-Muslim discourse upon human rights, multiculturalism, and the state of law in Europe”.

Rise of Islamophobia posed a threat not only to Muslims but also to the security and stability of Europe, according to the report.

The media also played a crucial role in the reproduction and normalization of anti-Muslim racism, it said.

“There is, generally, only very little positive media coverage of Muslim communities in Europe,” noted the report, and added: “Islamophobic hatred is often spread via the Internet”.

Anti-Muslim sentiments were also regularly manifested in petitions, the report said.

Islamophobic language by high-ranking politicians, mostly from the far right, normalizes a dehumanizing and racist language when it comes to the portrayal of Muslims, it added.

“Muslims are among the first victims of the rise of far-right extremism in Europe,” the report stressed.

Some mainstream parties also “legitimized the hatred against the other,” even using “far-right arguments for electoral purposes,” it added.

Violent acts result from the dehumanizing ideology of racism, and Muslims were increasingly becoming victims solely because of their faith, said the report.

Around 70 cases of Islamophobic incidents were recorded in Belgium, where 76% of the victims were female, it noted.

In Austria, 540 cases of Islamophobic incidents were recorded in 2018, compared to 309 cases in 2017 — a rise of approximately 74% of anti-Muslim racist acts.

In France, 676 Islamophobic incidents were documented in 2018 against 446 in 2017 with a 52% rise. Among these 676 incidents, 20 involved physical attacks (3%), 568 discrimination (84%), and 88 of them involved hate speech (13%).

In Germany, there were 678 attacks on German Muslims, including 40 attacks on mosques.

Some 1,775 attacks were on refugees, 173 on asylum homes, and 95 on aid workers in Germany, according to the report.

In the Netherlands, 91% of a total of 151 incidents of religious discrimination reported to the police was against Muslims.

Religiously motivated crime in England and Wales rose by 415% from 2011 to 2018, the report noted.

  26. Greece Tightens Asylum Policy for Migrants – Gov’t Spokesman (sputniknews, Oct 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201910011076929968-greece-tightens-asylum-policy-for-migrants—govt-spokesman/

“The Greek Ministerial Council has taken a harsh approach toward the immigration laws by deciding to tighten the asylum application system, the government spokesman, Stelios Petsas said.

The meeting on Monday was announced in advance, but the day before it, riots broke out on the island of Lesbos. Migrants set the housing containers on fire at Moria refugee camp, which is designed for 3,000 people but hosts 12,600 migrants. In recent months, the migration flow from the Turkish coast has sharply increased. In total, 30,300 migrants seek refuge on the islands of the Aegean Sea.

“The latest developments in the field of migration and refugee flows as well as the draft law on tightening the application and asylum system were discussed in the meeting,” the official said in a statement.

The Greek government also plans to fasten the return of illegal migrants to Turkey, where they usually arrive from.

Petsas added that Deputy Minister for Migration Policy Giorgos Koumoutsakos will visit Turkey from October 2-3, to hold talks on the growth of the flow of migrants with his Turkish counterpart. Visits by the French and German Interior Ministers to Turkey and Greece are also expected this week.

Greece decided to include the issue of increased migration on the agenda of the European Council on October 17-18, he added.

Despite the migrant camps being overcrowded and dire living conditions, the Greek authorities remain slow to transfer people to the mainland. Athens has accused Ankara of breaching the EU-Turkish deal on migration under which Ankara was supposed to limit the non-stop flow of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa, who are trying to enter the European Union by sea in Greece via transit in Turkey.”
