2. EU REPORTEDLY TRANSFERRING 15 MILLION EUROS TO PA, ENABLING PAY-FOR-SLAY

Under the pay-for-slay policy, the PA commits to payments to terrorists in prison, those released from prison and families of terrorists killed while carrying out attacks against Israel.

The European Union pledged to transfer 15 million euros to the Palestinian Authority, a decision that will enable it to keep paying salaries of public employees, but also terrorists who receive salaries under the pay-for-slay policy, Palestinian Media Watch reported.

Israel decided to withhold taxes from the PA, which were aimed at funding terrorists incarcerated in Israeli prisons, leading the PA to refuse all tax money. This reduced the PA’s own budget by half, incurring a serious financial crisis in the West Bank.

After Israel decided to cut those funds from the tax money it transfers to the PA, its leader Mahmoud Abbas reportedly announced that he would slash public employees’s salaries in order to continue paying the terrorists, saying that the PA is “obligated” to continue rewarding terrorist prisoners and their families even if it would be with their “last financial resources.”

The Justice Department may release a tranche of documents before the public gets a chance to see the DOJ inspector general’s report on alleged government surveillance abuses.

The Hill’s John Solomon told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday his sources are telling him that “important” records could be released sometime this month.

“To get how bad the situation is, you need those documents to be declassified,” the investigative reporter said. “We’ve been talking about those buckets for a long time. I am hearing that the Justice Department is nearing a decision to release 10 or 12 of the most important documents before the … IG report comes out, that will allow all of us to see how bad it was before we see the IG’s conclusions. I think that could happen later this month.”

6. Yazidi Former Sex Slave to Face German Islamic State Jihadi in Court

A 28-year-old Yazidi former sex slave named Shatha Salim Bashar is scheduled to testify in German court next month against one of the fourteen Islamic State jihadis who allegedly enslaved and raped her, used her as a human shield, and forced her to watch her best friend die.

The defendant in the case is a German national who became one of the many European residents to migrate to the Islamic State and become soldiers for its now-fallen “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. Shatha was abducted from her village on Iraq’s Sinjar Mountain in 2014 and spent over three years as a slave.

The semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq created an Office of Kidnapped Affairs to rescue Yazidis and reunite them with their families. The Yazidis are a small religious minority of Kurdish extraction often persecuted by fundamentalist Muslims who view their unusual faith as devil worship.

According to the KRG, 360,000 of the estimated 550,000 Yazidis left in Iraq are currently living as refugees or otherwise displaced from their homes. The Office of Kidnapped Affairs gave some grim statistics to Fox News:

7. BREAKING: Van Filled With 1,000 Gallons of Gasoline Found in Downtown Baltimore Parking Structure Ahead of Trump’s Visit

A large area of downtown Baltimore was evacuated on Monday after a van filled with 1,000 gallons of gasoline was found in a parking garage — just days before President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the city.

President Trump will be attending the 2019 House Republican Conference Member Retreat in the city on Thursday, less than one mile from where the van was found.

Thank you Malca, M., @AmyMek, Wrath of Khan, Richard, EB., ML., and all contributors this week.

UPDATE: The fuel vans in Baltimore is more likely a criminal effort to sell fuel than it is a crude attempt at a bomb.
