Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Antifa Terrorists Threaten to Burn Theater Hosting Black Activist

https://americanactionnews.com/articles/antifa-terrorists-threaten-to-burn-theater-hosting-black-activistAn anti-KKK event hosted by a famous black activist had to be moved after members of the radical liberal terrorist group “Antifa” threatened to burn the theater.

Daryl Davis, a black man famous for confronting KKK members, befriending them, and convincing them to renounce racism, has to move his “Ending Racism” event from a New Jersey theater to a facility in Pennsylvania after Antifa members threatened to burn the building.

About 40 Antifa members showed up to protest the relocated event. In violent threats, they called Davis a “white supremacist” for speaking to KKK members.

“I laughed, I thought it was funny,” Davis told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “What it proves is they had no point. They had no evidence of anything. When it boils down to just name-calling people and you don’t show any proof and you refuse to talk to them … they refused to even come in. There were no Klansman or Neo-Nazi’s in there or alt-right people.”

Venezuela Reels As Chinese Oil Giant Bends To U.S. Sanctions

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which was a key buyer of Venezuelan oil until recently, will not be purchasing oil from the South American country for a second month in a row in September as it is careful not to violate stricter U.S. sanctions on Venezuela, Reuters reported on Tuesday, quoting two sources familiar with the plans.

This is the second month in which the Chinese state-held giant refused to buy oil from Venezuela, which has been delivering crude and refined products to CNPC to repay the billions of dollars that China has lent to Venezuela.

Last month, CNPC canceled loading plans for 5 million barrels of Venezuelan oil, after U.S. President Donald Trump signed earlier in August an executive order freezing all assets of the Venezuelan government in the United States, and noting the move may open space for sanctions against companies doing business with the Maduro government.

  3. Hong Kong police are now routinely insulting the city’s people as “cockroaches”

It’s a strange word to describe any person with, and even more so when it comes from members of a police force whose motto is to “serve with pride and care.” Yet every week that passes seems to bring with it new videos of police officers yelling “cockroaches” at not just protesters, but now also bystanders and journalists.

And the force isn’t shy about its open advocacy of such language. In a letter last month, the chair of the Junior Police Officers Association denounced protesters as “no different from cockroaches.” That followed another letter, published in July, in which Lam condemned those who desecrated a pro-China lawmaker’s parents’ graves as creatures who cannot be called human.

While a new police assistant commander issued an internal memo calling on his staff to refrain from applying the epithet to protesters—because doing so is only “playing into their hands”—frontline officers have continued using the term. Just last week, an officer yelled “Cockroaches, shut up!” at a group of protesters and reporters, while an officer was even seen yelling the word on Sunday (Sept. 8) at a group of elderly citizens trying to play the role of mediators between young protesters and the police. And during another protest late last month, riot police similarly used the term to describe photojournalists (link in Chinese) who were trying to document the arrest of a protester. An officer is reported to have said, “Journalists? Also cockroaches.”

  4. Two British-Australian Women, Additional Foreign National Reportedly Arrested in Iran (sputniknews, Sep 11, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201909111076772365-two-british-australian-women-additional-foreign-national-reportedly-arrested-in-iran/

“The detention in Iran of two British-Australian women and another foreign national believed to be Australian was reported by British media late on Tuesday.

A blogger travelling through Asia with her Australian boyfriend and an academic from Cambridge University who was teaching at an Australian university were detained in separate cases, The Times reported.

The two women are believed to be currently held at the Even prison in Tehran, according to The Guardian.

They are said to be the first British passport-holders without Iranian nationality to have been imprisoned in Iran in recent years.

No further details are immediately available, with The Telegraph pointing out that the UK Foreign Office reportedly requested that the women’s identities remain anonymous. At the same time the Foreign Office declined to comment on the incident, according to The Telegraph.

The Australian government is following both cases, The Telegraph reported.

Tulip Siddiq, a member of the UK Labour Party, commented on the alleged incident, accusing Iran of an escalation of “hostage diplomacy,” according to The Times.

Neither Tehran nor London have officially commented on the reports.

In August, an Iranian court sentenced an Iranian-British dual national, Anushe Ashuri, to 12 years in prison on espionage charges, including charges of cooperation with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.

The court also upheld a 10-year prison sentence against Aras Amiri, a British Council worker, who was arrested in 2018 and jailed for espionage.

Relations between the UK and Iran have deteriorated following the ‘tanker war’ in recent months.”
