Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. US Cluster Bomb-Armed Fighter Jets Patrolling Persian Gulf Amid Tensions With Iran – Report (sputniknews, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201908011076426246-us-cluster-bomb-armed-fighter-jets-patrolling-persian-gulf-amid-tensions-with-iran—report/

“The development comes against the backdrop of US-led efforts to build an international coalition that will patrol the Strait of Hormuz as tensions with Iran continue to drastically escalate.

US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles fighter jets have joined maritime and surface warfare drills in the Persian Gulf as tensions with Iran continue to escalate, the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) reported.

Based out of Al Dhafra Air Base, the UAE, and attached to the 336th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, the jets are reportedly fitted with clusted bombs.

“Their [the F-15Es’] role is to conduct combat air patrol missions over the Arabian Gulf and provide aerial escorts of naval vessels as they traverse the Strait of Hormuz. The F-15E is a dual-role fighter designed to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground missions and is currently conducting Surface Combat Air Patrol (SuCAP) operations to ensure free and open maritime commerce in the region”.

According to The Drive, some of the aircraft were fitted with Wind Corrected Munition Dispensers (WCMD), a GPS-assisted intertial navigation system guided canister that can carry a variety of cluster munitions. Beyond cluster bombs, the F-15Es are said to carry a pair of AIM 120C Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and two AIM 9-X Sidewinder short-range infrared homing missiles.

Already existing tensions in the region were further exacerbated in early July when the Iran seized a UK-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz weeks after a UK seizure of an Iranian vessel off the coast of Gibraltar…”

  2. Indian President Signs Legislation Banning Muslim Instant Divorce by ‘Triple Talaq’ (sputniknews, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201908011076426422-indian-president-signs-legislation-banning-muslim-instant-divorce-by-triple-talaq/

“The contentious Indian legislation to ban the practice of instant divorce by Muslim men by uttering “talaq” three times has become a law, with President Ram Nath Kovind giving his assent. Kovind signed the legislation while he was in the west African nation of Gambia on a state visit.

The legislation was passed by both houses of the Indian Parliament – the lower House or Lok Sabha on the 25th of July and the upper house or Rajya Sabha on the 30th of July.

President Kovind himself had termed the passage of the bill as “a milestone in the quest for gender justice”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the practice in Islam as “archaic and medieval”, saying it is something which has finally been confined to the “dustbin of history”.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s President and Home Minister of India Amit Shah described the passage of the legislation as fulfilling his party’s commitment, “which will free Muslim women from the curse of this regressive practice”.

Opposition parties had hotly opposed the bill, terming it “discriminatory” to Muslim men. They contended there was no need for the bill, as instant divorce has already been declared void by the Supreme Court of India. Several regional parties boycotted the voting on the Bill in both houses of Parliament, facilitating its passage without much ado.

India’s Supreme Court had in its judgement in August 2017 ruled the practice of triple talaq “unconstitutional”. The court had also asked the government to frame new divorce legislation to replace the abolished practice.”

“An explosives-laden car has run into a police station in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, with the explosion leaving some servicemen injured, Sky News Arabia broadcaster reported on Thursday, citing sources.

A suicide attacker was driving the car into the police station’s gates in Omar al-Mokhtar neighbourhood. According to various reports, up to three officers were killed by the explosion.

Soon after the first attack, another blast struck a military parade in Buraiqa district of the city. The Houthi movement claimed responsibility for the incident, stating they had launched a medium-range ballistic missile and an armed drone at the event.

According to Reuters, 9 people, including a commander, died in the attack.

Yemen has been locked in a conflict between government forces, led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who bases in Aden, and the Houthis movement. 4. Afghan Migrant to Remain in France Despite Conviction for Three Sex Attacks (breitbart, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/08/01/afghan-remain-france-despite-conviction-three-sex-attacks/

“An 18-year-old Afghan migrant is not at risk of deportation despite being found guilty of sexually assaulting three people, including a 14-year-old girl.

The Afghan teen was found guilty of the assaults earlier this week in the Criminal Court of Fontainebleau after being arrested only days earlier for the sex attacks that took place over a four day period in June, La Republique de Seine et Marne reports.

The attacks took place between the 16th and 19th of June in the park of the Château de Fontainebleau and saw the Afghan asylum seeker rushing towards his female victims and demanding sexual favours in broken English and French while groping them sexually.

The assault against the 14-year-old girl was said to be especially heinous with the Afghan touching her genitals and other parts of her body with his mouth and hands after jumping on her.

Each victim fled the park after being assaulted and eventually police placed surveillance in the park and caught the teen. Two of the victims were able to identify the Afghan despite his denials of the crimes.

After finding the migrant guilty of the sex attacks, he was sentenced to just one year in prison and no deportation order, despite the prosecutor asking for two years in prison followed by a five-year entry ban to France.

The verdict in the case comes only days after an incident at a French pool that saw a pair of migrants from Moldova brutally beaten and nearly lynched by a mob after they allegedly sexually assaulted underage girls.

Earlier this month, a Syrian asylum seeker was also arrested in connection with the rape and murder of 24-year-old Johanna Blanes, a young mother with a slight mental disability.

Sources close to the investigation claimed Ms Blanes had been strangled and brutally beaten in the head and neck.”

Bosnian Klix news portal reports that the approaching train sounded its siren and attempted to stop but the man didn’t move. Police say they are investigating what happened.

Police also say the body of another migrant was found Wednesday in a house in Velika Kladusa in northwestern Bosnia, which borders neighboring European Union member Croatia.

Many migrants sleep rough as they travel through various countries while fleeing war or poverty in their home countries. Impoverished Bosnia has been struggling with the migrant influx.”

Rainbow Muslims, a new social network for Muslim LGBT people founded by Sara Benimsson, has announced it will participate in the upcoming Stockholm Pride parade under the motto “We are needed”.

According to 18-year-old “rainbow Muslim” Bilal, LGBT Muslims are under-represented both in Swedish society in general and in the gay community in particular.

  9. This morning as I went for my #2 (Mc’D’s sausage-egg Mcmuffan, that is) I witnessed something I’d not seen before. Only a few early-morning workmen were there getting their morning Joe. All of us were taken aback by the bizarre sight of a (I think) woman standing motionless, like a statue, in front of the counter. Her head and face were covered in light cloth. It looked like a makeshift burka, which we’ve all seen, but it was her spooky mannerism that caused each entrant to the restaurant to give her more than one furtive glance. She tried her best, it seemed, to keep her face turned away from as many people as possible. Finally she got her food and went to a corner, her back to all.

I know my description doesn’t adequately capture the eeriness of the scene, but judging by the reaction of the grown men who clearly thought her disturbing, or disturbed, our society is clearly not prepared for the death worshippers collecting very quickly in Dear Leader’s Dystopia.

      • No, weirder than that. A white rag over her face up to her eyes and an off-white one over her head. But it was her manner that was so odd. There was something going on under there…

    • Mc’D’s tried serving halal in Dearborn but got shafted for $700,000

So, about this mystery woman, in the early morning…

muslims are the most sexually repressed and with that preoccupation on their mind forever, almost getting caught is life itself. Where else can a woman marry as many husbands as she wants except in jihad?

Now, where can she hide and wait-it-out? Among the kufar! For no muslim would ever look for her there. Besides, the bars were closed. Her back was to hide the fact that she was not eating the swill. And she was cloaked from the entrance.

Her own burkha would have been instantly recognized, for every musselma knows each other from how they wear them. Feminine-pride makes each one their own. So a makeshift cloth would have to do. Uncomfortable and afraid, a fish out of water, petrified – but still remaining halal if caught because the whip better than the stone.

She glaced, and saw a man helping himself to a second burger and wondered why his wife did not feed him.

human-monkey hybrid grown in lab in China

A HUMAN-MONKEY hybrid has been grown in a lab in China in a world first scientific breakthrough.

Scientists have successfully formed a hybrid human-monkey embryo – with the experiment taking place in China to avoid “legal issues”.

Researchers led by scientist Juan Carlos Izpisúa spliced together the genes to grow a monkey with human cells.

It is said the creature could have grown and been born, but scientists aborted the process.

The team, made up of members of the Salk Institute in the United States and the Murcia Catholic University, genetically modified the monkey embryos.

Researchers deactivates the genes which form organs, and replaced them with human stem cells.

  13. North Korea says it tested crucial new rocket launch system

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea said Thursday leader Kim Jong Un supervised the first test firing of a new multiple rocket launcher system that could potentially enhance its ability to strike targets in South Korea and U.S. military bases there.

The report by North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency differed from the assessment by South Korea’s military, which had concluded Wednesday’s launches were of two short-range ballistic missiles.

The launches from the eastern coastal town of Wonsan were North Korea’s second weapons test in less than a week and were seen as a move to keep up pressure on Washington and Seoul amid a stalemate in nuclear negotiations. Pyongyang has also expressed anger over planned U.S.-South Korea military drills.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Coast Guard announced today that an unidentified Chinese warship smashed into the Kaohsiung-registered bulk carrier the “Yutai No. 1” in the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday night (July 31).

In a press release issued today by the Coast Guard Administration, Ocean Affairs Council, the Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch reported that at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the Yutai No. 1 was slammed into by a Chinese warship 19.5 miles southeast of Liaoluo Port in Kinmen, according to CNA. Venezuela: Socialist ‘Death Squads’ Targeting Opposition Activists

The Maduro dictatorship in Venezuela is stepping up the operations of “death squads” aimed at eliminating all opposition to the socialist regime, El Mundo detailed in a report on Wednesday.

At a military ceremony in 2017, dictator Nicolás Maduro launched a new security unit known as the Special Action Forces (FAES), which he declared would “join the fight against crime, against terrorism and against right-wing terrorist groups.” Since their formation, 641 members of the FAES have begun terrorizing those suspected of vehement opposition of the regime, carrying out thousands of extrajudicial killings and other human rights abuses, El Mundo, a Spanish newspaper, revealed.

  16. Sign of the times: China’s capital Beijing orders Arabic, Muslim symbols taken down

BEIJING: Authorities in the Chinese capital have ordered halal restaurants and food stalls to remove Arabic script and symbols associated with Islam from their signs, part of an expanding national effort to “Sinicize” its Muslim population.

Employees at 11 restaurants and shops in Beijing selling halal products and visited by Reuters in recent days said officials had told them to remove images associated with Islam, such as the crescent moon and the word “halal” written in Arabic, from signs.

Government workers from various offices told one manager of a Beijing noodle shop to cover up the “halal” in Arabic on his shop’s sign, and then watched him do it.

“They said this is foreign culture and you should use more Chinese culture,” said the manager, who, like all restaurant owners and employees who spoke to Reuters, declined to give his name due to the sensitivity of the issue.

The campaign against Arabic script and Islamic images marks a new phase of a drive that has gained momentum since 2016, aimed at ensuring religions conform with mainstream Chinese culture.

The campaign has included the removal of Middle Eastern-style domes on many mosques around the country in favour of Chinese-style pagodas.

China, home to 20 million Muslims, officially guarantees freedom of religion, but the government has campaigned to bring the faithful into line with Communist Party ideology.

It’s not just Muslims who have come under scrutiny. Authorities have shut down many underground Christian churches, and torn down crosses of some churches deemed illegal by the government.

But Muslims have come in for particular attention since a riot in 2009 between mostly Muslim Uighur people and majority Han Chinese in the far western region of Xinjiang, home to the Uighur minority.

Spasms of ethnic violence followed, and some Uighurs, chafing at government controls, carried out knife and crude bomb attacks in public areas and against the police and other authorities.

In response, China launched what it described as a crackdown on terrorism in Xinjiang.

Now, it is facing intense criticism from Western nations and rights groups over its policies, in particular mass detentions and surveillance of Uighurs and other Muslims there.

The government says its actions in Xinjiang are necessary to stamp out religious extremism. Officials have warned about creeping Islamisation, and have extended tighter controls over other Muslim minorities.

    “NEW NORMAL”

Analysts say the ruling Communist Party is concerned that foreign influences can make religious groups difficult to control.

“Arabic is seen as a foreign language and knowledge of it is now seen as something outside of the control of the state,” said Darren Byler, an anthropologist at the University of Washington who studies Xinjiang.

“It is also seen as connected to international forms of piety, or in the eyes of state authorities, religious extremism. They want Islam in China to operate primarily through Chinese language,” he said.

Kelly Hammond, an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas who studies Muslims of the Hui minority in China, said the measures were part of a “drive to create a new normal”.

Beijing is home to at least 1,000 halal shops and restaurants, according to the Meituan Dianping food delivery app, spread across the city’s historic Muslim quarter as well as in other neighbourhoods.

It was not clear if every such restaurant in Beijing has been told to cover Arabic script and Muslim symbols. One manager at a restaurant still displaying Arabic said he’d been ordered to remove it but was waiting for his new signs.

Several bigger shops visited by Reuters replaced their signs with the Chinese term for halal – “qing zhen” – while others merely covered up the Arabic and Islamic imagery with tape or stickers.

The Beijing government’s Committee on Ethnicity and Religious affairs declined to comment, saying the order regarding halal restaurants was a national directive.

The National Ethnic Affairs Commission did not respond to a faxed request for comment.

While most shopkeepers interviewed by Reuters said they did not mind replacing their signs, some said it confused their customers and an employee at a halal butcher shop accused authorities of “erasing” Muslim culture.

“They are always talking about national unity, they’re always talking about China being international. Is this national unity?”

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201908011076429021-pentagon-confirms-training-maghawir-al-thawra-militants-near-syrias-al-tanf/

“The Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) of the US-led international coalition fighting Daesh* has confirmed to Sputnik that the coalition was training the armed rebel group, Maghawir al-Thawra, near Syria’s Al-Tanf, stressing that the group was efficient in countering Daesh.

“Coalition partner forces in the vicinity of Al-Tanf, Syria are the Maghawir al-Thawra. The MaT has demonstrated its effectiveness in interdicting Daesh and maintaining security within the Al-Tanf de-confliction zone. We will continue to train and advise coalition forces in the vicinity of Al-Tanf in pursuit of the enduring defeat of Daesh and to set conditions for regional stability”, the CJTF-OIR said, commenting on Rudskoy’s statement.

The Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Col. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy, said on Monday that the United States was training 2,700 militants from the Syrian opposition group in the vicinity of the 55-kilometre (34-mile) US-controlled zone around its unauthorised military base in Syria’s Al-Tanf.

Rudskoy also stated that the US Air Force was sending some of the militants to the east bank of the Euphrates River upon completing the training.

According to the chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, the militants were tasked with carrying out attacks targeting government forces and also destroying oil and gas infrastructure facilities.

In December of last year, US President Donald Trump stated that he had decided to withdraw troops from Syria promising to bring about 2,000 US servicemen back home. The reason for the move, according to him, was the defeat of the Daesh terrorist group in Syria. However, no exact deadline for the return of the troops has been revealed by US officials yet.

  20. India Moves 25,000 More Troops to Pakistan Border Amid Escalation – Report (sputniknews, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201908011076431662-india-moves-25000-more-troops-to-pakistan-border-amid-escalation—report/

“Since 2003, India and Pakistan have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire, with continued instability in the region leading to the emergence of various extremist groups.

India has moved 25,000 more border troops to the Pakistani border amid an “unprecedented escalation”, local media reported, citing government officials. The troops will reportedly be deployed at the international border in Rajasthan and in Kashmir.

The report comes after the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on 31 July summoned an Indian diplomat in Islamabad and lodged a strong formal protest against a ceasefire violation by the Indian Army in several sectors along the Line of Control.

At least three soldiers were killed on 30 July when Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged artillery fire at the border.

Relations between the two countries worsened after a 14 February terrorist attack on an Indian military convoy in Kashmir in which more than 40 people were killed. The Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Later in February, India carried out an airstrike in the Pakistani-controlled part of Kashmir, targeting what it said was a training camp belonging to the terrorist group.

The Kashmir region has been fought over by India and Pakistan since the end of British rule in the region in 1947.”

  22. Netherlands Partial Burqa Ban Comes into Force After 14 Years of Debate (breitbart, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/08/01/netherlands-partial-burqa-ban-14-years-debate/

“The Netherlands has brought into force a ban on Islamic face veils in public spaces, 14 years after it was first mooted by Dutch populist Geert Wilders.

The ban on items such as burqas and niqabs also includes other facial coverings such as helmets and hoods and came into force on Thursday. The legislation was passed in June 2018, but was first put forward by the right-wing firebrand in 2005. However, it is only a partial ban as the law does not prohibit the wearing of the veil on the street.

“From now on the wearing of clothing which covers the face is banned in educational facilities, public institutions and buildings, as well as hospitals and public transport,” the Dutch interior ministry said in a statement reported by AFP. Failure to abide by the law could result in a fine of €150 (£137/$167).

Bans on the Islamic veil vary across Europe, with France becoming the first European country to ban it in 2010, and unlike in the Netherlands, the law prohibits its wearing anywhere in public. However in October 2018, the United Nations demanded France rescind the law which it said “violated” Muslim women’s human rights.

Denmark banned the burqa outright in 2018, while Austria banned it in 2017, Bulgaria and Latvia in 2016, and Belgium in 2011. There are also partial and regional bans in Italy, Norway, Switzerland, and Spain…”

    Well isn’t this interesting.

Yahoo News has obtained a new FBI document dated May 30, 2019 that warns ‘conspiracy theorists’ are the new domestic terrorism threats.

What exactly is considered a ‘conspiracy theory?’

The document specifically called out ‘QAnon’ which is a belief that “Q” is a government official posting information on an online forum about Trump’s efforts to dismantle the Deep State.

“The FBI assesses these conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread, and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts,” the document states.

The document also claims the FBI believes conspiracy theory-driven extremists are likely to increase during the 2020 presidential election cycle.

The FBI appears to be bracing for Spygate backlash because they said another factor driving the so-called threat is “the uncovering of real conspiracies or cover-ups involving illegal, harm

    • They are suppose to be looking at anti-government extremists, are they talking about the people who are trying to reduce the size and power of the government or the left wing who are trying to create a government the control with total power?

  24. Venezuela: A Mafia State

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: President Nicolás Maduro’s Venezuela is effectively a mafia state, run by a military leadership that is heavily involved in the drug trade and security forces that aid the criminal networks they are supposed to be battling. They are shored up by 15,000 Cuban military and security personnel and in cahoots with Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

In an op-ed in The New York Times on June 11, Abraham F. Lowenthal and David Smilde proposed a humanistic vision for the Oslo negotiations between representatives of the regime of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and the democratic opposition, led by Juan Guaidó –recognized by more than 50 countries as Venezuela’s interim president.

According to Lowenthal and Smilde, “The divisions within Maduro’s coalition laid bare during the failed April 30 uprising, coupled with Juan Guaidó’s unsuccessful call for the support of the armed forces, may have finally persuaded key people on both sides that the only viable way forward is a negotiated transition.”

To support this argument, the authors provide examples of previous “negotiated transitions” – such as Chile in 1988 and Poland in 1989. Neither case can be applied to Maduro’s Venezuela, however, which is neither a military dictatorship like that of Augusto Pinochet nor a classical Communist regime.

  25. As Police Prestige Declines, Crime Increases and Civilization Weakens
The unraveling of law and order.
    August 1, 2019
    Bruce Thornton

In the latest of a string of municipal police stand-downs, New York City officers slunk away after a jeering crowd dumped water on them. In a separate incident in Harlem, an officer was hit on the head with a hard-plastic bucket. This retreat from an assault on the law was not as consequential as that of Portland police who did nothing as journalist Andy Ngo got assaulted and injured by Antifa thugs, but it bespeaks a dangerous trend: The growing disdain for the prestige of law enforcement officers, who now are politically handcuffed and prevented from doing their jobs.

That this latest embarrassment happened in NYC makes it even more revealing. Throughout the Nineties, crime in the city plummeted: Violent crime dropped by more than 56%, and property crimes 65%. Murders peaked at 2245 in 1990, then started to decline, particularly after Rudy Giuliani was elected mayor in 1993 and instituted changes in policing, such as the “broken windows” crackdown on misdemeanors like subway turn-style-jumping that created an atmosphere of disorder and lawlessness. Along with more police on the streets, more criminals put in jail, and tactics like “stop-and-frisk” of suspects, these changes contributed to the steep decline in murders. By 1999, murders had fallen by 73%. In 2018, there were 289 murders, almost half as many as Chicago, which has about one-fourth the population of New York.

    • Here is another data point on the deliberate collapse of Western Civilization, the Radical Left in all Western Nations are determined to make all Western Nations ungovernable. Two of the tactics that they are using is 1) uncontrolled immigration of Third World people into the Western Nations. 2) Creating a climate where the police are distrusted and not allowed to do their jobs. What we are seeing in these attacks is part of the second tactic, it is designed to make people hold the police and the laws in contempt. Once you start holding one law in contempt you end up holding all laws in contempt. Once you hold the laws in contempt you find no reason to obey them. The people deciding not to obey the laws speeds the collapse of the nations and the civilization.

  26. I Was a Stooge for a Communist Terror Group That Murdered Americans
The allies of a Communist terrorist group are running the country.

    Daniel Greenfield

There is a scene in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino’s revisionist take on the Manson murders, in which the fictional members of the family blame movies for their crimes. The real answer is less cinematic and more political. The Manson family’s crimes were part of a culture of leftist violence.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is one of the many ways that American leftists evade that reckoning.

After the murders, one of the Manson family wrote “pig” in Sharon Tate’s blood on the door. The radical act carried out in California thrilled fellow Weathermen radicals halfway around the country.

“Dig It. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!” Bernardine Dohrn gloated at a Weathermen war council.

Dohrn and other members of the leftist group understood the horrifying murders as a radical act that normalized violence. And Dohrn, a Weatherman terrorist, saw violence as an inspirational tool for shattering the norms of society. That was why the Weathermen adopted the ‘fork salute’.

The horrifying reality of the sorts of people that would do that is at odds with the media’s normalization of leftist radicals as principled activists reacting to racism and the Vietnam War. The radicals are routinely humanized and their victims are forgotten. History is entombed with the dead.

And so The Tablet decided to give Jonah Raskin, who had participated in the Weathermen, and later promoted the hateful works of the violent Communist terror group, a forum for his fond memories.

  27. Charles Barkley at Dem Debate: “Every Black Person I Know Has Always Voted Democratic – All Those People Are Still Poor” (VIDEO)

Former NBA Allstar Charles Barkley and current NBA analyst Charles Barkley spoke to reporters this week after the first Democratic Party presidential debate on Tuesday in Detroit, Michigan.

Barkley told Yahoo News, “Every black person I know has always voted Democratic, and with the exception of a few guys who can play sports, all those people are still poor.”

    Of course, Charles is right.
It goes back to the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

  28. REVEALED: Corrupt Deep State FBI Caught in MORE LIES Involving Former Director James Comey

Yesterday we reported that conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch announced it obtained 6 pages of records from the FBI showing that one month after FBI Director James Comey was fired by Trump, FBI agents visited Comey’s home to retrieve four ‘Trump memos’ as “evidence.”
Today we find out that of course, someone in the Deep State FBI is lying again!

Yesterday it was reported that agents showed up to Comey’s home to collect the evidence in June and one of his memos was written on June 6, nearly a full month after he was fired on May 9.

  29. Reports: Israel attacked Iranian missile shipments in July – in Iraq
    By J.E. Dyer August 1, 2019

This will be a quick-look summary rather than an in-depth treatment. The bottom line up-front: if these reports are valid, the militarization of Mesopotamia as a regional battle space, previously warned about here, is proceeding at a near-gallop. In short order, it won’t be possible for any of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, or Turkey to view itself as militarily unaffected by the developments in Iran’s push for a land bridge to the Mediterranean.

It won’t just be Iraq, Syria, and Israel that see a need to make warfighting calculations and preparations. And those dimensions of the fight won’t just be about the comparative abstractions of high-altitude surveillance or missile defense. They’ll be about establishing lines of advance across territory, protecting or interdicting lines of advance across territory, extending air early warning out as far as possible (and changing the location and timing of defensive triggers), siting forward positions, and applying politics to the territorial requirements of military operations – as opposed to things like satisfying tribal and ethnic competitions in vast interior spaces, and protecting oil and gas infrastructure one-dimensionally, as if in a theater-operational vacuum.

  30. Afghan Defense Forces At Lowest Levels Since 2015 – SIGAR Report (sputniknews, Aug 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201908021076434107-afghan-defense-forces-at-lowest-levels-since-2015—sigar-report/

“According to a new report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, Afghan military and police force strength has declined by 20% since its previous quarterly report, reaching its lowest levels since 2015. However, the change might be due to a new tallying method.

As of late May, there were only 272,465 soldiers and police on the Afghan payroll, according to SIGAR – a 20% drop from the 352,000 recorded in December and noted in the previous quarterly report, issued on April 30.

The watchdog’s newest report, issued on July 30, notes that the total, which includes 9,554 fewer army and air force personnel and nearly 25,000 fewer police, was probably so much lower than before because of the new Afghan Personnel and Pay System, as this was the first staffing tally to count forces using those biometrically enrolled in the system.

APPS is part of Kabul’s ongoing effort to crack down on corruption, particularly the collection of paychecks issued to so-called “ghost” police – former officers who are still being paid, “even if they have resigned, been terminated, or killed,” the report notes.

However, SIGAR notes that other Afghan efforts to combat corruption are way down. The Afghan government recovered only 0.2% of the $185.2 million in financial penalties imposed by the Anti-Corruption Justice Center (ACJC). The ACJC’s independent prosecutors focus their efforts on high-profile corruption cases, targeting generals, provincial leaders and even deputy government ministers. This is despite a sharp increase in prosecutions since 2018, SIGAR notes.

A previous SIGAR report in 2018 eviscerated the ACJC, blasting the anti-corruption center as itself corrupt, Sputnik reported.

NATO’s mission in Afghanistan, Resolute Support, reported to SIGAR 6,445 enemy-initiated attacks since March 31, with more than half of them occurring in five of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces: Helmand, Badghis, Faryab, Herat and Farah. This is a 9% increase from the previous quarter, but 10% less than the same period last year, Stars and Stripes noted.

On Tuesday, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) decried Afghan civilian deaths as “shocking and unacceptable,” although the number of civilians killed or wounded in the country so far this year was also much lower than at this time last year, with 1,366 civilians killed and 2,446 injured, according to UNAMA. However, SIGAR’s report only records 757 killed and 1,949 civilians wounded between January 1 and May 31, 2019.

Last October, Resolute Support informed SIGAR it would no longer be reporting “district control data” showing what percentage of the Afghan population is controlled by the Taliban, saying the data was of little use. Sputnik noted the news paralleled denunciations of the practice by US President Donald Trump, who said the reports “should be private,” since what’s available to the public is available to the enemy as well.”

While the Department of Justice is investigating what triggered the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign that commenced at the end of July 2016, a new piece of information has been thrown into the mix: Andrew McCabe, who was FBI deputy director during the 2016 campaign, was exchanging messages with his counterpart in Britain’s MI5, Jeremy Fleming, at the time.

  33. Turkey plays with fire in Libya (saudigazette, Aug 2, 2019)
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/573737/Opinion/Editorial/Turkey-plays-with-fire-in-Libya

“TURKEY’S increasing involvement in the Libyan conflict must be a cause for international concern. There are strong grounds to believe that not only has Ankara been supplying weaponry to the Muslim Brotherhood-dominated Tripoli government of Fayez Al-Serraj but has also sent mercenaries, at the very least to operate attack drones it has provided.

A week ago, an air strike on the Libyan National Army (LNA) base at Jufra destroyed two Ilyushin transport aircraft. As with the LNA’s loss of its key Ghariyan forward base for its assault of Tripoli, this attack appears to have caught it completely unprepared. This highlights one of the tragedies of this conflict which is that neither of the Libyan rivals has the proper discipline and organization to prevail quickly over the other. Thus LNA commander General Khalifa Hafter’s drive to take the capital is now in its fifth month. Launched with confident predictions of an early victory, the failure to overcome a rag-tag bunch of MB militias is a clear demonstration that few of the formations within Hafter’s forces have proper training and effective command and control.

There are unconfirmed reports that some Turks were killed when, in response to the Jufra air strike, the LNA launch an air attack on an airbase in Misrata. If Turkish military personnel are indeed on the ground, many people, including Turks, will consider this another example of dangerous adventurism by their autocratic President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Here is a leader who is perfectly content to champion the MB which he must know as well as anyone is the political face of Islamist terrorism. Yet here is also a leader who has turned a blind eye to China’s treatment of its Muslim Uighurs and is even this week preparing to send back to Beijing Uighur activists who have sought asylum in Turkey. During his visit last month to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Erdogan refused to raise the plight of the Uighur. He was more interested in courting Chinese investment by becoming part of Xi’s Belt and Road initiative.

But double standards do not appear to bother the Turkish leader. He may however run up against a problem with his now close Russian ally Vladimir Putin. Officially Moscow is sitting on the fence over Libya, even last year launching its own attempt to play honest broker between the two sides. Unofficially, the Russians recognize in Hafter a potential Libyan leader who can unite the country and clear out Daesh (the self-proclaimed IS) and its allied thugs from Libya. Turkey’s armed forces, which are part of NATO, are currently integrating Russian S-400 missiles into their air defenses, in defiance of warnings from President Trump and his other NATO allies.

Hafter has now vowed to take Tripoli within 12 days, before Eid Al-Adha. This seems unlikely. His failure to fight his way into Tripoli makes clear that a negotiated settlement is the only way to end the carnage and misery gripping all Libyans. The UN’s local body UNSMIL has tried repeatedly to bring the two sides together. Unfortunately a direct intervention by Turkey is only going to make that task a great deal more difficult. It is also going to give comfort to the terrorists militias fighting for the UN-recognized Serraj and also lurking in the Libyan desert where they are regrouping while Libyans are busy fighting each other.”
