“MOSCOW (Sputnik) – German police conducted on Wednesday a massive operation, detaining around 30 people suspected of organizing sham marriages for migrants so that they could get a residence permit easier, local media reported.
The operation was held in federal states of Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Thuringia and Saxony, including the city of Leipzig, the Bild newspaper reported. Some 500 law enforcement officers were involved in the operation.
During the operation police searched 39 facilities, where they found a lot of evidence, the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper reported.

On Monday Iran announced its breach of the key 3.67% uranium enrichment-level limit set in the JCPOA. The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, announced that the level of Iran’s uranium enrichment has surpassed 4.5%, and the rogue regime was prepared to go further. Liberals are blaming this announcement on President Trump withdrawing from the JCPOA and imposing crippling sanctions on the state sponsor of terrorism. They claim to know that Iran was following the deal before today, but that claim is a lie because neither they nor anyone else can prove it true.
There’s no way to know if Iran is complying with the JCPOA because those “anywhere, anytime” inspections Obama and Kerry promised are about as real as unicorns and a moon made of green cheese.
Because of a secret side deal revealed by the Associated Press long before the deal was agreed to, Iran gets to self-inspect the Parchin military base with no IAEA inspectors present. Parchin is the site where Iran was working on nuclear triggers for its bomb program.

“The European Union is to give €138 million ($155 million) more to support the G5 Sahel Joint Force, including its police component, a joint E.U.-G5 Sahel statement said, a week after Niger’s president called for sustainable U.N. funding or an an international coalition to fight insurgency in the Sahel.
Federica Mogherini, outgoing High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, met with the foreign ministers of the G5 Sahel countries – Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad – in Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou on Tuesday, and a joint communique was published on Wednesday, July 10.
Noting “renewed attacks by armed terrorist groups, violence perpetrated by so-called self-defense groups and recurrent inter-communal tensions,” the two sides called for a “determined and concerted response” to “prevent and contain any risk of escalation and destabilization of the region.”
They “reaffirmed their determination to work towards the operationalization of the Joint Force” and reiterated their commitment to “improve coordination between the Joint Force, the National Defense and Security Forces and international partners.”
The communique noted the “efforts of G5 Sahel states to mobilize domestic resources to deal with terrorism,” but also “stressed the importance of increased and immediate engagement in fragile areas to provide state services.”
It singled out “abuses committed by self-defense groups is a paramount condition to prevent the escalation of violence,” and stressed urgent need to dismantle the militias.
The two parties decided to consolidate their partnership, focusing on three priority areas: enhanced coordination by the G5 Sahel Permanent Secretariat; the definition of an integrated security and development framework; and to look for innovation in aid implementation, both in support for the Joint Force and in “development actions to respond quickly to the expectations of the population.”
It was in this context that the additional €138 million in support for the G5 Sahel Joint Force, including the police component, was agreed, the communique said.
“We agreed that we will go beyond the logic of deliveries and donor-to-recipient relationships to base our partnership on a true spirit of reciprocity of political, military, technical and financial responsibilities, based on a more direct support,” Mogherini said at a Tuesday press conference. “I want to emphasize this because probably the key word today has been the efficiency and focus of our efforts on the goals to be achieved.”
The G5 Sahel Joint Force has previously received €100 million in E.U. financial support, and the European Union said in July 2018 that it would finance the construction of a new headquarters in Mali, after its base in Sevare was destroyed in suicide bomb and gun attack later claimed by the al-Qaeda-linked Support Group for Islam and Muslims (JNIM). The Force Commander, Mauritanian General Hanena Ould Sidi said in September that G5 Sahel Joint Force headquarters will move to Mali’s capital Bamako.
Mogherini said on Tuesday that previous E.U. support to the Joint Force was a total of €115.6 million.
The bloc also funds the European Union Training Mission in Mali, which has a mandate until May 2020. Troops from 22 member states and five non-E.U. states work with both the Armed Forces of Mali (FAMa) and the G5 Sahel Joint Force. It has trained around 13,000 FAMa personnel…”

“Dubai: The findings of one of the largest population studies conducted recently on 33,000 Emirati men between the age of 18 and 20 in the UAE has thrown up some startling statistics, with the majority of Emirati men under 30 suffering from obesity, diabetes and other lifestyle conditions.
The study, led by Professor Ashraf Hassan Humaidan Al Zaabi from Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi, indicated a high incidence of cardio-metabolic disorders such as high triglycerides, obesity, impaired fasting glucose, hypertension and high cholesterol in the subjects.
Detailed results from this cross-sectional analysis study of male nationals demonstrated half of the subjects were overweight or obese at age 18, and this rose drastically, so much so that by the age of 29, only 29 per cent were in the normal BMI range. There was also a high prevalence of diabetes (4.7 per cent) and 41 per cent of subjects had impaired fasting blood glucose — an indicator for prediabetes.
Overall, 62 per cent of the men presented at least one cardio-metabolic risk factor such as high Basal Metabolic Index (BMI), impaired fasting glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol and blood pressure. UAE patients who had a high BMI were more likely to present multiple cardio-metabolic risk factors and to have hypertension, the study indicated. Alarmingly, around one in four subjects of the study had more than one cardio-metabolic risk factor.
Professor Al Zaabi said: “Our findings underline the serious nature of cardio-metabolic risk factors and associated disease in this region. At age 18, 42 per cent of the men were in the normal BMI range, but this drastically decreased to only 29 per cent at age 29. These shocking figures make us ask the difficult question of what happens during this critical time frame to make the majority of young UAE men overweight or obese?”
Over 70 per cent obese by the age of 29 years
Commenting on the findings he added: “We must look at these critical 10 years closely and evaluate ways we can support almost 70 per cent of 29-year-olds who are overweight or obese. In order for health authorities to meet the challenges associated with the increase in cardio-metabolic risk factors in the UAE, continued surveillance and awareness of these conditions is needed.”
Tracing the genesis of the alarming trend, Dr Mohammad Al Haddad, consultant bariatric surgeon and head of bariatric and metabolic surgery at Health Point, Abu Dhabi told Gulf News: “The obesity epigenetics is very high in the UAE and the statistics of incidence is three times higher than the rest of the world. Obesity begins at the time of conception of the foetus, when mothers who are obese or have a bad lifestyle conceive. Therefore, it is important to check obesity from childhood to be able to stop this trend of early onset of adult obesity, diabetes and other cardio-metabolic co-morbidities.”

“On July 9, the Court of Lisbon sentenced Moroccan national Abdessalam Tazi to 12 years in prison for his involvement with ISIS.
The judge sentenced Tazi after the Portuguese court found the defendant guilty of recruiting young Moroccans to fight for ISIS. Most of the young men recruited by Tazi were of Moroccan nationality.
The 65-year-old Moroccan national was convicted on seven charges. Besides recruiting fighters for ISIS, he was found guilty of providing financial support to the terrorist group via forged credit cards.
However, the public prosecution office failed to find evidence proving Tazi’s direct affiliation with the leaders of ISIS.
During the hearing, the prosecutor recognized that Tazi was a highly intelligent person who had been able to bring Moroccan citizens to Portugal with the intention of sending them to Syria.
Tazi’s lawyer, Lopez Guerrero, told reporters that he was surprised to hear the verdict, stating that he was considering an appeal. “He was acquitted of belonging to an international terrorist organization, but he was convicted of recruiting people to an organization he does not belong to,” he added.”

“British media reports on Muslims are leading to a rise in Islamophobia with news outlets giving a “negative and misleading” coverage of the community, a new study suggested.
According to Al Jazeera, the study which was published by the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) said that far-right leaders and commentators used television debate programmes to propagate stereotypes about Islam and Muslims.
The study analysed more than 10,000 news articles and broadcasts in the UK from 2018 and identified “serious problems” in the way British media reports about Islam or Muslims.
In print media, the study found that 59 per cent of the articles analysed associated Muslims with negative behaviour, while more than a third “misrepresented or made generalisations” about the community.
The study said 78 per cent of the stories in the Mail on Sunday newspaper featuring Islam or Muslims living in the UK had a negative coverage of the community.
On the other hand, it said the Guardian, the New Statesman and the Independent had the least negative portrayal of Muslims.
In television, Sky News had the highest proportion of misleading coverage, with 14 per cent of its clips rated “very biased”, the study said.
It said that regional TV broadcasters presented a more supportive coverage of Muslims, with the ITV’s regional channels having no content they could call “very biased”.
The study said Muslim women were either “othered” through misrepresentative choices of images, or silenced through a general lack of due prominence.
Other anti-Islam tropes the study said it found in the British media included the faith being “inherently anti-Semitic”. It said news reports conflated support for Palestinians with anti-Semitism and portrayed Muslim solidarity with Jews as unusual.
The report said far-right figures were given prominent positions in TV debates, which helped them in normalising their propaganda.
The study, conducted by the MCB’s Centre for Media Monitoring, said its methodology was verified by Professor Paul Baker, an expert in critical discourse analysis at Lancaster University.
“As the first in a series of quarterly reports, the Centre for Media Monitoring hopes that by highlighting examples of coverage on Muslims and Islam, it can serve as a valuable resource for journalists,” said the study’s co-author Faisal Hanif.”
