How Australians can bypass state censorship of the internet

The following post is meant for Australians, and any other national, who feel the state should not decide for them what information they should have access to and what information they should not. I think doubly so in a place like Oz. which has the pretence of being a free state, yet sends police to your door to ask probing questions like, “Do you support Donald Trump?” (This example is New Zealand but similar things are happening in Oz.)

From what I can gather, all of bitchute.com, Gates of Vienna, and Blazing Cat Fur, and likely due to this post, my site, have been (or will be) blocked by several ISPs in Australia. I base this on emails received by me, and by the operator of Gates of Vienna.

I also Skyped a friend of ours in Oz and using Skype’s screen share feature, had her navigate to these sites.

On her ISP, she was able to see all the listed sites except BCF.

So this is how we bypassed it so that she could see the one that was blocked.

The following graphics are for an Apple computer.

First, go to your settings gear. For most that should be on the dock. If it isn’t, then go to your magnifying glass very top right and type: System Preferences.

Once you have that open, it should look sort of like this:

Then look for the grey globe that says Network. Its around the middle in this photo, but take your time and find the sphere like thing that says “Network”. Click that and you should see something like what is below. You want to click the “advanced” button at the bottom.

You should see something like this now, which will list the WiFi networks you use.

In the row of buttons at the top of the picture below, you should see on the 3rd from the left, DNS. Click that:

Where I have a black square, you will see your DNS numbers. What you need to do, is click the minus sign till both numbers are gone, then type in the exact numbers you see here in this photo below, or what you see below in text. To make it easier I have added them in text so you can scrape and paste.

Once the existing numbers are gone by using the – button, you can use the + button to create the field to paste in, or type in the numbers above. After you have done so, click OK, then on the next screen, APPLY.

Without a reboot or any other action you should then be able to see any sites you were prevented from seeing.

We know this works as we tested it with someone in Australia, but its extremely common in Turkey and Iran where the governments are head of Australia and New Zealand by several months in terms of information totalitarianism.

You may have to check from time to time as your DNS numbers may revert by your ISP from time to time, or, if you use a VPN, (in which case you should have no problems anyway) sometimes your VPN assigns DNS numbers to you. But if you do not, this method works so far, and is safe, but check from time to time to make sure that these are the numbers you see in the DNS field.

It is always best to use a VPN service like AIRvpn or Nord although some readers have written comment suggesting NORD may not be on side. But as I understand it, the method used to block these sites is something called, “DNS Poisoning”. I do not understand at this time what that is or how it works, but changing your DNS to a public one like the one listed above, gets you around it and does for a lot of people in states like Iran, China or Turkey.

The following video deals with how to change DNS, and what DNS is for that matter, on all your devices. I am asking an expert to check it, but so far it appears to be accurate to my understanding. I post it for for Windows 10 machines and cell phones.

Stopping state censorship is extremely important, and these days more than ever where that censorship is being selectively enforced nearly 100% of the time, in favour of Islam and the coalition of Neo-communists.

    • There is a much simpler solution instead of tempering with your DNS setting.

      1) You can use VPN that is by the way part of the “Opera” browser when you open a “New Private Window”.

      2) You can use DNScrypt. This gives you encrypted and system wide DNS lookups.

      The Domain Name System (DNS) has got an Encrytion extension implemented in the protocol but not used in most systems by default. If you decide to use DNScrypt this makes it difficult for your ISP to intercept your websites lookups. Ever since I have been using DNScrypt I have no problem visiting sites that are blacklisted by censors.

      Once DNScrypt is installed you will not use the local (ISP or country) specific look-ups for websites.

  2. The excuse used by the “conservative” government who introduced this was to stop access to piracy sites and it took some 24hrs before most found a way past it. This is classical abuse of the law by lawyers: bring in a law that has some legal sense to it then extend the category of actions now defined as illegal and include them (Hitler did this with death penalty crimes, 5 in 1933 to 220+ by 1945). BUT If you routinely criticize islam and muslims online even on a blog such as this, I would advise a VPN as it makes it insulates you that much more. It does not however stop Breitbart and similar from banning your disqus account because someone’s feelings were hurt by your comments but less irritating than 4am death threats by phone to an unlisted and now overseas calls blocked number.
    Australia may have shrugged off the socialist/green disaster but the globalist sycophants of islam are still in charge. It is the UK ten years ago and I await the first honest reports of the grooming gangs that are certainly present but hidden away as are the names of almost all muslims accused of crimes there..

      I dread thinking about how many opponents to capital punishment trot out this graying shibboleth at every opportunity. As Richard might concur: It’s not the penalty, it’s the LAW (and any Rule thereof) that matters.

      And too right about the “globalist sycophants”, Michelle. This parasitic 1% would be just as comfortable if they were the planet’s sole remaining population (which they are certainly acting as though they are).

      • It is the rule of law with everyone equal under the law that matters, the problem with the actions in Nazi Germany was the selective enforcement that was carried out. Just like the left is currently doing to us, they haven’t yet made it legal to murder us but they are headed that way.

        The fools think they can survive the true experts in controlled violence reacting to their murdering people the experts agree with.

        • The law in Nazi Germany was also very selective Oskar Schindler would have NO chance of escaping censure with his Jewish frolics had he not been a low number Nazi party member.
          BTW NR I am not against death penalties per se but the example quoted was the typical example of a law designed for a perfectly correct attempt to make obvious foul practices illegal and to punish appropriately but which had a definition back door still open. Lawyers should never be allowed to formulate any law as there is too much in it for them in doing so. I wrote an essay decades ago as a teen that laws should be drawn up by non lawyers who graduate from law schools” “scribes” who do nothing else but formulate desired laws and edit ancient or obsolete ones. This keeps the lawyer hand out of the law pie.

            This is why I and many others want to limit the laws to the original intent of the writers of the law. An attitude the left hates and tries to belittle every chance the get. I have heard supposedly educated people asking how we can know what the writers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights meant, when I say why not try reading their writings on the intent and meaning of the clauses in the Constitution and the intent of the Amendment they start screaming about how we shouldn’t be held captive by the thoughts of some 18th Century politician.

  4. Australia has been blocking sites for many years. Mostly extreme porn, and online shops selling fake / illegal pills and stuff like that. Kind of pointless because fake shops close down after a few months.
    But this is new to me, how can they justify blocking a video website? What next, message boards?
    And in such a clumsy way too, with DNS poisoning. All that does is return a wrong IP (or none at all) for a URL, when the appropriate (default) directory is consulted. Which is normally determined by your ISP, and easily circumvented.by specifying a different one.

      I figured it was strictly MB, but China fits the geostrategy even better.

      There was an attempt to restrict the NZ real estate market to foreign investors – target China. They were trying to avoid the Vancouver-syndrome, spending time in Canada to learn from brother’s experience. I’m not sure what happened to the proposed legislation.
