In a strange few days when the msm buzz is suddenly all about “the markets” and the Dollar, arithmetic becomes boss. Amid the chaos and clamour in the public square society is efficiently reordered. Sorry, nothing personal or sentimental here. Just business returning to do what business does, and this is to take care of itself. Metaphorically, the dead material accumulated on the forest floor must be cyclically removed. This debris, known as debt, burns quite naturally every few years under the normal business cycle. It is necessary to reconcile or extinguish debt so that stronger young trees of the forest can break ground and reach to the sky. This is what capital does.
Unfortunately we have seen the suppression of the natural business cycle for political expediency for a dangerously long time. Bone-dry tinder awaits the spark. Bankers grow weary of the folly.
The big loser here will be the Left, of couse. So much of the heavy lifting that VTB and the people on it burden themselves with will be dealt with by simple math. In retrospect we will look back and say, man, why didn’t we see this? So much of what we fight right now is financed circuitously by the productive class, and once the money dries up so will the Left. Most people making a meaningful contribution to society will be spared. The many accolytes of Marx and Obama and Soros will suffer greatly. Their idealism has not prepared them for arithmetic.
Maybe it will be necessary to reinstate conscription in order to reorder this mess. Money takes care of itself, ultimately, but people? This internal, domestic enemy will be usurped by the reset just in time to make them fight the war against the external enemy, Red China, who has been dealing with its own debt fire.
