Contributor’s links post for March 20, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. How the Media is Pushing the 2020 Dems to the Left
And what the Beto O’Rourke cover-up tells us about the media.
    March 20, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

    iming is everything.

During Robert Francis ‘Beto’ O’Rourke’s awkward campaign rollout, we learned that a Reuters reporter had a damaging story about the politician’s past during the Senate race against Senator Ted Cruz that he promised to hold “until after the November election.”

    It’s now March.

The Reuters reporter sat on the story until the day after O’Rourke announced his White House bid. And then he decided that the time was perfect to debut a mildly damaging story about a Democrat.

There were three points in time when the story could have run.

When it would have helped Ted Cruz and hurt O’Rourke, after the election it would have mildly hurt O’Rourke, and now when it would damage O’Rourke more seriously and help his Democrat rivals.

Going the first route would have been journalism. It would have meant a mainstream media hack putting the story above his political leanings. And the odds of that are as good as a snowstorm in July. It does happen sometimes, but you don’t want to pack your winter boots on the off chance that it might.

  2. The New Man
Do we have the resolve to defeat the new totalitarians?
    March 20, 2019
    Michael Ledeen

The 20th Century was the era of the “new man,” and leftist leaders are preaching the same failed sermon again today. From Mussolini to Mao, the totalitarians of both left and right recognized that their ideologies required a basic change in human nature. Italian fascism, emerging from the Great War, insisted that the heroes of the battlefield were the only ones qualified to lead Italy to new glories. As time passed, Mussolini maintained that it was imperative to train a new generation, with the qualities demonstrated by the war fighters, to govern the country. Fascist Italy needed a new kind of human being, a new fascist man. This imperative gave rise to the well-known fascist institutions, from ideologically-driven schools to youth organizations and paramilitary bands, as well as the mass rallies that fused individual Italians into a fascist mob.

Mussolini set the model for the others. Hitler permitted only Aryans to hold high office, and though this practice was often observed in the breach (Goering famously quipped, “I decide who is an Aryan”), it was certainly official doctrine, and was relentlessly preached to the German people. Like the fascists, the Nazis herded the people into officially approved groups, from the Hitler Youth to the schools and the many ideological bands. Hitler ritualized the relationship between leader and masses in his famous rallies. You can see the dynamic in the celebrated film The Triumph of the Will.

  3. Yet Again, Germany Horrified By Migrant Murder of Young Woman
Pakistani Muslim yells “Allahu Akbar” in church chancel at victim’s memorial service.
    March 20, 2019
    Stephen Brown

In modern-day Germany, it is an all-too-common, and tragic, love story. Girl meets migrant. Girl dates migrant. Girl argues with migrant. Migrant kills girl.

The victim this time was Cynthia, 21, a beautiful young woman and native of the cathedral city of Worms, who worked as a nurse and whose dream was to become a midwife.

“She lived for her work,” said Cynthia’s uncle after her murder in early March. “She wanted to become a mid-wife. She was happy, loved parties, cheerful.”

But Cynthia, whose last name can’t be revealed due to German law, won’t be realizing her life dream of delivering babies due to her boyfriend Ahmed, 22, a Tunisian.

Ahmed had arrived in Germany in October, 2017, and applied for asylum. He had met Cynthia only four months before he murdered her. Cynthia lived in the upper story of the family home, which she had to herself. Occasionally, Ahmed stayed overnight. Police say Cynthia was murdered in her room.

One night in early March, Cynthia and Ahmed got into an argument. The Tunisian then took a knife and stabbed Cynthia, apparently while she was lying on her bed, numerous times. She suffered 10-15 stab and cut wounds to her back, neck, hands and lung.

It’s really quite simple. Atrocious acts like these should see the first responding municipal vehicle be a hearse. No code three ambulance racing to the scene. No LEO response. Any questions?

All that remains to be seen is how many more times this exact same sort of desecration plays out before opening coroner training centers becomes a major growth industry.

  4. Bernie Sanders Called for National Industries, Speechwriter Cheered Socialist Dictator
    March 19, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

Under Obama, conservative accusations of socialism were met with media protests that it wasn’t really socialism. Are we socialist yet?

“I favor the public ownership of utilities, banks and major industries,” Sanders said in one interview with the Burlington Free Press in 1976.

After moving to Vermont in 1968 several years after graduating college, Sanders became an active member of the left-wing Liberty Union Party. Under the Liberty Union banner, Sanders, then in his early 30s, ran for governor of Vermont in 1972 and 1976 and as a candidate for US Senate in 1972 and 1974. Sanders, also served as chairman of the party from 1973-1975. During this time, Sanders and Liberty Union argued for nationalization of the energy industry, public ownership of banks, telephone, electric, and drug companies and of the major means of production such as factories and capital, as well as other proposals such as a 100% income tax on the highest income earners in America. ….

  7. 12-year-old boy with autism calls 911 after losing teddy bear. This police officer responded in the best way.

Operators received a frantic 911 phone call on the evening of March 13 from the boy, of Woodbridge. He had been playing with his tiny teddy bear, Freddy, when the toy fell off his bed. Unable to immediately locate Freddy, the seventh-grader placed the 911 call to request assistance for a search-and-rescue mission …

… “I’d like to thank the officer who responded for his kindness and understanding, even posing for a picture with the ‘offender’, as well as the 9-1-1 operator who called back to make sure everything was ok,” Ryan’s father wrote online. “I’m glad that we have such a fine and caring police department. I’m a little offended my son didn’t get me (a firefighter) to help with the rescue. LOL.”

NOTE: This snarling sarcasm is meant only in the nicest way imaginable.

At least American cops have official duties that are worlds more important than arresting people for making Social Media posts far less nasty than this one.

Despite not being clinically trained, I’ve worked with enough Aspies and autistic kids to know that Ryan Paul’s parents spent the rest of their day reveling in the company of an ebullient young son whose sense of engagement and worth was boosted sky high.

While this Woodbridge police response—complete with prior POACS (Parents of Autistic Children Services) training—was expensive, imagine what effects there are upon the morale and psychological health of indigenous everyday Britons: Each of them knowing that their tax-paid constables stand at the ready, ever-vigilant to apprehend anyone who’s even thinking of farting sideways in the general direction of a Muslim crossdresser.

£ü¢k knows that making such a Social Media comment in the UK would see the elder Paul cuffed and jailed for how his otherwise laudatory post hatefully excluded all mention of inbred Muslim halfwits.

    • I’d like to take this opportunity to indelicately note that Moore has oceans of blood on his hands from spending decades misleading environmentalists into believing that nuclear power and nuclear weapons were one in the same.

Moore killed the US nuclear industry and drove an energy hungry America into the arms of terrorist-sponsoring MME oil producers. He may as well have had a finger on the trigger of 9-11.

Where were there any concerns about revisionism when this tidy bit of TREASON was happening? Why is it that, only now and DECADES on, when (however belatedly) reality finally outs, there’s this sudden mad rush to cover up such inconvenient truths facts?

Revising lies is a vastly higher priority task than reporting facts.

We are witnessing the final phases of style’s ultimate victory over substance. The Narrative™ is en vogue and ideological fashionistas everywhere gleefully celebrate being able to, once and for all, rid themselves of these meddlesome priests facts.

  8. Orban, Szajer and Gulyas hold press conference at EPP Political Assembly in Brussels – ORI

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, EPP (European People’s Party) Vice-Chair Jozsef Szajer and Minister of the PM’s Office Gergely Gulyas hold a joint press conference in Brussels on Wednesday, March 20, during the EPP Political Assembly.

Orban’s party Fidesz could face a temporary suspension from the EPP, after a controversial campaign accusing US billionaire George Soros and European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker of plotting to flood Europe with migrants.

    • France 24 – Hungary PM’s Fidesz party suspended from European EPP group

The Fidesz party of firebrand Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was suspended from the European People’s Party Wednesday, the EU’s biggest and most influential political grouping, the EPP said.

A spokesman said 190 party members voted in favour of the suspension, with only three against, after reports of long and often heated discussions with Orban at a meeting in Brussels.

Fidesz had faced expulsion from the EPP after running a controversial billboard campaign that accused European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker and liberal US billionaire George Soros, a bete-noire of Orban, of plotting to flood Europe with migrants.

The campaign has since been dropped and Orban has apologised for insulting partners from the EPP — the mainstream conservative group of MEPs — though the party leadership had warned this was not enough.

A statement said the suspension was a joint decision by Fidesz and the EPP in a last minute re-wording intended to stop Orban from slamming the door on the group forever.

Sanctioning Orban has split the EPP, amid concern that the Hungarian leader will team up with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s anti-immigrant Northern League, to create a rival group in the European Parliament.

Faced with tough EU elections in May, some EPP members are also worried that punishing Orban will cost them support from anti-immigrant voters who back Orban’s tough line.

But others believe Orban crosses a dangerous line into xenophobia, anti-semitism and racismthat is not suitable for the EPP mainstream grouping.

The sanction against Orban has no end date, but party sources said senior party members would evaluate the situation and recommend next steps “probably in the autumn”.

“Exclusion is not off the table, it is on the table,” said the EPP’s Manfred Weber, who will be leading the party in European elections in May.

The EPP brings together the EU’s main centre-right parties, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU or the Republicans in France, the party of former French leaders Nicolas Sarkozy and Jacques Chirac.

In an interview on Wednesday, Juncker, who won the EU’s top office for the EPP in 2014, once again called for Fidesz to be excluded.

“For years (Orban’s party) has been moving away from Christian Democratic values,” Juncker told German radio Deutschlandfunk. Therefore “his place is outside the EPP”.

CNN – Hungary’s Fidesz party suspended from European People’s Party

(CNN)Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party was suspended by the main pan-European, center-right European People’s Party on Wednesday, amid controversy over democracy and the rule of law in his country.

“Fidesz will be suspended with immediate effect and until further notice following today’s vote of EPP members (190 in favour, 3 against),” EPP President Joseph Daul said on Twitter.
According to Daul, the suspension means Fidesz party members will be denied attendance at party meetings, will lose voting rights or the right to propose candidates for posts.

The vote was called due to growing concerns over the party and Orban’s alleged infringement on the rule of law in Hungary.

Orban, who won a third consecutive term in power last year, has previously locked horns with EU leaders over his country’s hardline immigration policies and for clamping down on democratic institutions — including civic organizations, the media and academic institutions — as he consolidated his power.

EPP members voted to suspend Fidesz after the party put up billboards insinuating a conspiracy between European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the billionaire George Soros.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Fidesz party had said it would leave the EPP if its membership was suspended.

  9. The Antisemitism Crisis in the Democratic Party

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Democratic Party has been overtaken by an antisemitism crisis, a process of ”Corbynization” akin to that of the British Labour Party. The process’s three principal proponents, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar, personify three components – socialism, Palestinianism, and Islamism – given impunity by the concept of “intersectionality.” The trajectory of their red-green alliance is leading the Democratic Party towards socialism. For American Jews, this means their deep allegiance to the Democratic Party over many generations has been rewarded with abandonment and suspicion. For Israel, there is the prospect of a future Democratic administration that advocates its destruction. For the rest of the world, the party’s severe inward turn portends global retreat.

With astonishing rapidity and cravenness, the US Democratic Party has succumbed to Corbynization. Tweets and other statements by newly elected members of Congress have asserted that American Jews are disloyal, that support for Israel is bought, and that accusations of antisemitism are used as weapons to silence dissent over Israel and the role of Jews.

Though long anticipated, few expected that the process would take only a few weeks. However, the nature and dimensions of the Democrats’ problem far transcend that of the Labour Party in Britain. The potential transformation of the US has global ramifications.

U.S.A. -( New Mexico Second Amendment supporters are doing more than passing Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions. The New Mexico Republicans are leading a movement to repeal the offending law using the power of the people.

New Mexico has a provision in its Constitution, rather similar to that in Switzerland. If the legislature passes a law offensive to the people, they can demand a referendum be held. If the law is not approved of in the referendum, the law is annulled. The Republican party in the New Mexico House released this notice: From

Santa Fe – House Republicans joined New Mexico’s Sheriffs to begin the process of overturning radical anti-2nd Amendment laws on Thursday. Joining thousands of New Mexicans who rallied against anti-2nd Amendment bills across the state, House Republicans announced they will begin the formal process to annul Senate Bill 8.

Under the New Mexico Constitution, the people have the power to “disapprove, suspend and annul” laws enacted by the Legislature. The process begins with a petition of New Mexico voters and requires several different actions depending on the number of signatures. The number of required signatures is based on the voters who cast a ballot in the 2018 General Election and actions to be taken include:

“A 34-year-old man in Bordeaux was arrested over the weekend after entering a police station and attacking officers while yelling death threats in the name of Allah.

The man, who was not identified by name, entered the police station around lunchtime Sunday wearing an armband inscribed with the word “Jihad” in Arabic script, French television broadcaster BFMTV reports.

The attack began almost immediately after the man entered the building and it took another officer to deploy his taser and electrocute the 34-year-old to subdue him while he shouted death threats at the officers.

No weapons were found on the suspect and he was soon placed in custody with the Bordeaux judicial police.

  13. Geert Wilders Slams Dutch Open Borders Policies After Utrecht ‘Terror’ Shooting (breitbart, Mar 20, 2019)

“Populist Dutch politicians hit out at the government’s pro-migration policies as voters went to the polls on Wednesday following a suspected terror attack by a Turkish migrant.

At Tuesday evening’s final debate before provincial elections, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has heavily criticised over the previous day’s shooting by a Turkish immigrant on a tram in Utrecht, which left three people dead and several more seriously injured.

Veteran anti-Islamisation and anti-mass migration campaigner Geert Wilders accused the liberal premier along with Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) leader Sybrand Buma of crying on “crocodile tears” in response to the attack.

According to the Dutch firebrand, the open borders policies of Rutte — who has served as prime minister of the Netherlands for eight years — and his coalition partners were to blame.

“You are politically responsible,” he charged, adding that Justice Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus needed to “pack his bags” on the basis that the suspect in Monday’s attack — reportedly a cocaine addict with a long list of criminal convictions — had recently been released from prison, where he was awaiting trial for rape.

Thierry Baudet, leader of the fast-growing, populist Forum for Democracy (FvD) was also on the attack over migration policy in the Netherlands, asserting that the government had been “naive and lax” with its open borders for many years.

“If we don’t choose a different course on Wednesday, [events like this week’s shooting] will happen much more often,” the 36-year-old warned, adding that Somali-Dutch campaigner Ayaan Hirsi Ali had highlighted the crisis of multiculturalism “15 years ago” yet “nothing has changed on this road we are following, with hundreds of thousands of people still coming here”.

Justice minister Grapperhaus meanwhile insisted that the criminal investigation into events in Utrecht was “in full swing at the moment”, stating that authorities were “taking allegations of a terrorist motive behind the attack very seriously”…”

Members of the campus community at Portland State better think twice about making a joke on campus — it could very well lead to their names being reported to the university’s bias response team.

Two bias reports filed at the public institution last fall were against people making jokes or similar off-hand comments on campus, according to documents obtained by The College Fix through a public records act request.

In one case from last September, a student overheard someone in their classroom making a comment about sometimes feeling like they having schizophrenia.

“She then stated she was not trying to make fun of schizophrenia,” the student reported, “but that sometimes she can be ‘schizophrenic.’ … She stated this in a joking manner and even laughed about it.”

  16. Qatar asks IAEA to intervene over ‘threat’ posed by UAE nuclear plant (memo, Mar 20, 2019)

“Qatar has called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to intervene in a dispute over a $24 billion nuclear power plant which the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is building.

Relations between Qatar and its neighbour are already strained after the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain severed diplomatic, trade and transport ties with Doha in June 2017 over allegations that it supports terrorism, a charge Qatar denies.

In a letter to the IAEA, which was seen by Reuters, Qatar says the Barakah plant poses a serious threat to regional stability and the environment and calls for a framework to ensure the safe operation of nuclear energy in the Gulf.

Qatar said that a radioactive plume from an accidental discharge could reach its capital Doha in five to 13 hours and a radiation leak would have a devastating effect on the region’s water supply because of its reliance on desalination plants.

“Qatar believes that the lack of any international co-operation with neighbouring states regarding disaster planning, health and safety and the protection of the environment poses a serious threat to the stability of the region and its environment,” the letter from Qatar’s Foreign Affairs ministry to IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said.

Qatar also said that the technology is relatively untested as there is only one other commercial reactor of this type in operation in South Korea

The UAE said on Wednesday that its nuclear energy programme conforms to IAEA standards and international best practices.

“The United Arab Emirates … adheres to its commitment to the highest standards of nuclear safety, security and non-proliferation,” Hamad Al Kaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA, said in a statement to Reuters.

He added that Barakah, the Arab world’s first nuclear plant which was originally set to come online in 2017, was now expected to begin operation by 2020.

The IAEA, a Vienna-based organisation which is the world’s top nuclear safety authority, declined to comment on exchanges with its member states.

  17. Saudi students in US complain of threats, intimidation by MBS  (memo, Mar 20, 2019)

“Saudi students in the US are being constantly spied on by the government in Riyadh, a PBS NewsHour report has found. Intelligence experts and Saudi students interviewed by the American daily evening television news programme said that the Saudi government closely monitored students when they leave to study in the US and impose penalties on those who criticise the kingdom while studying abroad. These include: passport freezes, death threats, intimidation, retraction of scholarships and attempts to lure them back to the country.

One anonymous student informed NewsHour that “inside every student organization we are involved in, [the kingdom has] one or two spies. The Saudi embassy contacts these students and they say ‘Now, if you have an event, we need a full report back to us on everything that happened. Just write the report, and add everything that was said during the event.’”

All the students interviewed for the story said that the government under Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, known also as MBS, makes a point of ensuring that students studying abroad under the kingdom’s scholarship programme know that they are being watched.

As many as 60,000 Saudi students are said to be currently studying in the US and nearly 40,000 have scholarships from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education that provide full tuition, health insurance and a monthly stipend.

Spying on students, which is said to have increased under MBS, is said to be having a chilling effect. “Every Saudi student in the US is too scared to have an opinion, even in our own hangouts. No one can criticize the government … and there’s no second chance. If they take away your scholarship, that’s it,” said Abdulrahman Al-Mutairy, an outspoken student at the University of San Diego.

Al-Mutairy said he learned first-hand the consequences of criticising the kingdom after he began speaking out against the Saudi religious establishment on social media last August. He was told to stop talking, or everything he received through scholarship programme would be taken away. He said he was instructed over the phone by a Cultural Mission official to sign the letter by the following or his scholarship would be revoked, and all of his benefits would be put on hold.

He was not alone. Others including Abdullah Al-Ouda, a Georgetown University fellow, and son of jailed scholar Salman Al-Ouda, spoke about his ordeal. He too was warned not to say anything critical about Saudi Arabia. Shockingly the arrest of his father was used to intimidate him into silence. Al-Ouda alleged that Saudi authorities resorted to psychological torture with threats of mistreatment of his father if he continued his activism in the US. His father was also given the same warning.

The Saudi government denies that it attempts to surveil its students or lure them back. For the majority of its students, Saudi embassy spokesperson Fahad Nazer said, the US college experience is a positive one.

However former FBI agent, Frank Montoya, said that he had spoken to a number of his colleagues still serving with the FBI who informed him that the practice of watching students in the US has dramatically expanded under MBS. FBI National Press Office said it had no comment on alleged Saudi surveillance.

Montoya believes that Saudi surveillance of its students and citizens will continue unless there is pushback from the US and in particular the White House which under President Donald Trump has strengthened ties with Riyadh. That seems unlikely as Trump seems to have given MBS a license to do as he pleases, pointing to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi: “There is no way the Saudis would kill a journalist, a US resident, if they didn’t think they could get away with it under Trump,” Montoya said.”

  19. Egypt govt approves bill that requires drug tests for all state employees (ahram, Mar 20, 2019)

“Egypt’s cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft law that mandates drug tests for state employees, with possible firings for those who test positive or evade it.

The bill requires prospective and existing employees at ministries, state companies, local authorities and other state bodies to undergo a drug test before being hired, promoted, awarded a contract or having their contract renewed, the cabinet said in a statement.

For existing employees, the test will be carried out without prior notice. Those who test positive will be “suspended from work by the force of law,” the cabinet said.

The new regulations also apply to those working at orphanages, care houses, rehabilitation centres, nurseries, schools and private hospitals.

The bill mandates that employees who refrain from undergoing tests or deliberately evade them without a plausible excuse will be terminated from their jobs.

The draft law will be referred to parliament for approval.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly urged stiffer penalties for government employees who test positive for drugs, after a railway employee involved in a deadly train station fire last month tested positive for narcotics.

Separately, the gendarmerie held two PKK suspects in the northwestern Edirne province when they stopped a vehicle in the Uzunkopru district.

The suspects were later revealed to have criminal records on charges of spreading terrorist propaganda, using explosive substances and disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state.

They were preparing to escape to Greece, according to sources.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.”

Turkish security forces launched simultaneous operations in 13 provinces across the country based in the central Kayseri province against suspects — including 22 on duty soldiers — with alleged links to the FETO, as part of an ongoing probe into the group’s infiltration into the Turkish army, according to judicial sources on Wednesday.

The arrest warrants were issued for the suspects for allegedly having contact with “covert imams” of the terror group by payphone, it said.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

  24. Far-right surge strips Dutch government of senate majority: exit poll (dw, mar 20, 2019)

“An anti-EU party is poised to become the second-largest party in the senate, according to an exit poll for provincial elections. Without a majority, the ruling government will need to reach out to other parties.

The Netherlands’ governing coalition is poised to lose its majority in the upper house due to a surge in support for a far-right populist party during regional elections, according to an exit poll published by Dutch broadcaster NOS.

The vote took place days after a suspected gunman shot dead three people in the Dutch city of Utrecht.

    Exit polls suggest:

The anti-EU Forum for Democracy will emerge as the second-strongest party
The Greens will double their seats

Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s center-right coalition will lose its senate majority

    Far-right surge

Forum for Democracy, a political upstart led by the hard-line Thierry Baudet, is expected to gain 10 seats, just two less than Prime Minister Rutte’s conservative VVD Party.

The party used the Utrecht attack to shore up support for its far-right platforms. “You can tell what’s going on anyway,” Baudet told a rally. “This is a combination of an honor killing and a half-terrorist motive.”

Baudet has courted controversy in the past, with factually incorrect statements such as “women in general excel less in jobs and have less ambition.”

    What is the Dutch Senate?

It is the Netherlands’ upper house. Its members are chosen by 570 representatives, who were elected in 12 provinces during Wednesday’s elections.

    What happens next?

These are crimes under the conservative Aceh region’s Islamic law, the Daily Mail reports. Hundreds of spectators came with their children and watched a masked sharia officer strike the couples, who winced with extreme pain. Many filmed the ordeal on their mobile phones.

Religious officer Safriadi, who goes by one name, said: “We hope in the future there will be no more cases like this – it’s embarrassing.”

  27. French soldiers will be on duty for next ‘yellow vest’ protest

French soldiers will be on duty on Saturday for the next “yellow vest” protest.

The troops will be deployed on Saturday to help guard public buildings, allowing police to focus on dealing with “yellow vest” demonstrators in case of renewed violence in Paris and other cities, the government said on Wednesday.

The troops will be redeployed from the “Sentinelle” anti-terror operation, which patrols streets and protects airports, train stations, places of worship and other sites, government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux told reporters.

This will allow police forces to “concentrate on crowd control, along with maintaining law and order,” he said.

Last Saturday, more than 5,000 police officers failed to stop hundreds of violent protesters from rampaging along the Champs-Elysees, burning and looting over 100 businesses in a rampage that lasted more than seven hours.

After the rioting, the government sacked Paris police chief Michel Delpuech.

Two other top police officials, including one of Delpuech’s aides, will also be removed from their positions, government sources told AFP.

The deployment of troops is intended to allow riot police to engage more aggressively with the far-left and far-right groups as well as anarchists who have been blamed for much of the violence.

But some police unions have warned that maintaining law and order was not the role of a soldier.

“I’m worried about how they’ll respond in case of attack,” said Philippe Capon of the Unsa-Police union.

Troops were originally deployed on the streets in January 2015 after the massacre at the Charlie Hebdo magazine, and their patrols have become a regular sight in Paris and other cities.

The government has also announced plans to outlaw protests along the famed Champs-Elysees and other key areas if hooligans once again infiltrate the “yellow vest” demonstrations, which have taken place every Saturday since mid-November.

  28. AUSTRALIA – Grand mufti calls for laws to protect Muslims against the ‘virus’ of Islamophobia

The Grand Mufti of Australia and New Zealand Ibrahim Abu Mohamed has called on Prime Minister Scott Morrison to push for new laws to greater protect Muslims against Islamaphobia.

Dr Mohamed met with Mr Morrison following Friday’s Christchurch mosque massacre which claimed 50 lives.

He told SBS Arabic24 that he brought three items to the table during the meeting, including his request for the introduction of new laws which would make it an offence to discriminate against Muslims.

He noted that such laws would be similar to those in place in numerous countries which protect Jews against antisemitic speech.

Section 18C of the federal Racial Discrimination Act prohibits actions, including what is widely called hate speech, that “offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate another person or group of people” based on their race.

However, comments directed towards Muslims are said towards people who adhere to the Islamic faith, not at a racial group.

He also asked Mr Morrison to ensure that the Christchurch attack was “documented” in a way that it would “go down in history as a terrible massacre”.

Dr Mohamed’s third request was for the governments of Australia and New Zealand to hold state memorial services, and to erect physical memorials in both countries to remember the victims of the attack.

“I and the whole Muslim community are waiting for the prime minister’s response to these demands,” Dr Mohamed said, following the weekend meeting.

Mr Morrison on Monday announced that Australia’s religious schools and places of worship would be offered an extra $55 million in community grants to boost their security.

It came following condemnation within political circles of Independent Senator Fraser Anning for comments following the attack that the “real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place”.

Mr Anning doubled down on Monday, saying he had “no regrets” over the comments.

“Unfortunately, that sort of violence is already here, usually it’s being perpetrated by the Muslims attacking the infidels or Christians,” Mr Anning said.

Dr Mohamed accused Mr Anning of “creating a crisis”.

“We don’t want to create a crisis, we want to defuse the crisis,” he said. “We are waiting of the response of the two big parties, the prime minister and the opposition leader. We have absolute trust in the Australian society and we know that hate and racism are incidental viruses to society.

“Everyone, Muslim or non-Muslims, no matter what colour they are, we are all guests on Aboriginal land.”

SBS has contacted the prime minister’s office for comment.

    • These retards are desperate to drag the world back to primitivism, and is another assault upon freedom of speech,if mozlems want to live like animals fair enough, but we refuse to accept this medieval crap because OUR lives have value.

  30. DAILY MAIL – Afghan asylum seeker accused of raping girl, 11, in Germany could walk free after claiming he MIGHT have been under 14 at the time

Afghan man Mansoor Q. is one of two men accused of attacking the young girl
His lawyers claim he may not have been 14 and therefore could not be convicted
He has helped prosecutors in their case against his co-defendant, Ali Bashar, who is separately accused of murdering 14-year-old schoolgirl Susanna Feldman

An Afghan accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Germany could walk free after his lawyers claimed he may have been too young to face charges.

The asylum seeker, known as Mansoor Q, is one of two men – along with Iraqi murder suspect Ali Bashar – accused of attacking the young girl.

But defence lawyers said his age was unclear and he may not have been 14 at the time, meaning he could not be tried or convicted under German law.

Mansoor’s barrister Michael Harschneck told the court in Wiesbaden there were ‘great uncertainties’ over the defendant’s age, Bild reported.

‘We have presented documents from which it appears that Mansoor was not yet 14 at the time of the offence,’ Harschneck said.

The defence did not have to prove or disprove anything and it was up to the prosecution to verify his age, he said.

Prosecutors acknowledged there were differing documents but cited expert reports which showed he was at least 14 years old at the time.

At 14, the age of criminal responsibility in Germany is higher than that in Britain (10) or France (13).

Mansoor has also helped prosecutors with their separate murder case against his co-defendant Bashar, who is also accused of killing 14-year-old schoolgirl Susanna Maria Feldman.

He is said to have given authorities crucial information which helped them arrest Bashar.

Both men are standing trial for the alleged rape of the 11-year-old.

Following a public outcry over Susanna’s death, German federal police hauled Bashar back from Arbil, northern Iraq, where he had been arrested by local Kurdish security forces.

Bashar was put on a flight to Germany despite the absence of a formal extradition treaty between Iraq and Germany.

The 21-year-old is accused of raping and strangling the schoolgirl in a wooded area near his refugee shelter in Wiesbaden last May 23.

He also faces charges for a park robbery in which he allegedly beat, strangled and threatened a man with a knife to steal his watch, bag, phone and bank card.

The Susanna case prompted politicians including Chancellor Angela Merkel to urge the speeding up of deportations of asylum-seekers who have broken the law in Germany.

    The trials continue.

  31. New Zealand shooting: Turkey’s President wants death penalty restored over attack

President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday called on New Zealand to restore the death penalty for the gunman who killed 50 people at two Christchurch mosques, warning that Turkey would make the attacker pay for his act if New Zealand did not.

Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a suspected white supremacist, was charged with murder on Saturday after a lone gunman opened fire at the two mosques during prayers on Friday.

“You heinously killed 50 of our siblings. You will pay for this. If New Zealand doesn’t make you, we know how to make you pay one way or another,” Erdogan told an election rally of thousands in northern Turkey. He did not elaborate.

  33. MEMRI – Minneapolis Imam Reacts to NZ Massacre: Western Civilization is Built on Bloodshed and Terrorism

Imam Shaaban Aboubadria said in a Friday sermon at Masjid Al-Huda Islamic Center in Minneapolis, MN on March 15, 2019 that non-Muslim civilizations know nothing about tolerance and that Western civilization is built on bloodshed, killing, and terrorism.

He said that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is a “terrorist son-of-a-terrorist” that is carrying out the “Zio-Crusader agenda” of the Zionists and the tyrannical and criminal Templar Crusaders.

He added: “When a dog dies, the entire world is up in arms, but when an entire nation is dying – that is an issue up for debate…

We went to sleep with the bombing of Gaza and woke up with the crime in New Zealand.”
