Contributor’s Links post for March 8, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Because of “Blackfacing” German carnival revellers are facing up to 5 years imprisonment+++
A prison sentence of up to five years can be sentenced to three men and one woman from Lower Franconia. As the Würzburg “Mainpost” newspaper reports, the four had painted themselves black in 2017 (Blackfacing) and then ran along briefly and unplanned in the Würzburg carnival parade. Not without connecting with it a political message

They uncovered a poster with the inscription:

“We know exactly, no one is going to deport us!”

In addition, with the shouts of “Money, money, money”, they are said to have stirred up the prejudice that refugees would only come to Germany to lead a better life here at our expense.

The incident would probably not have attracted much further attention if it had not been denounced by visitors of the carnival procession. The authorities then identified the “perpetrators” with the use of video footage from broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.
The appearance of the four was also denounced in the social networks. For example, Sebastian Hansen, the spokesman for the “Green Youth” in Germany:

  3. Another victim of Bloodbath Britain: Mother’s agony as son, 17, is knifed to death in Kensington – in the ‘fourth attempt on his life’ – as three teenagers are arrested over his murder (dailymail, Mar 8, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6785909/Pictured-Student-17-dreams-barrister-stabbed-death.html

“A mother has revealed her agony as her son, a 17-year-old aspiring barrister, was knifed to death after what was said to be the fourth attempt on his life.

Ayub Hassan – who had a brother, 9, and a sister, 11 – was fatally stabbed near a Waitrose by West Kensington tube station in London at around 2pm yesterday.

His mother, Siraad Aden, 38, collapsed when she heard that her son had been killed in London’s fifth knife murder in just seven days.

Later she told The Standard through tears at the family home on the White City estate in nearby Shepherd’s Bush: ‘He wasn’t only a son, he was my best friend. We want justice.’

After laying flowers at the scene, family friend Amina Osman said: ‘He had ambitions, he was looking forward to being a barrister. He was looking forward to being a grown-up man.

‘He was good with his words, he was very kind and handsome.’

But she said the fatal attack was ‘the fourth attempt on his life’, having previously been found unconscious in a park, run over and stabbed on another occasion…”

Ho hum. I’d bet a loon against a pence that this is more of the usual Islamic festivities. Wanted to be a barrister, did he? Probably just a wee bit too White for his spiritual confrères.

Somebody please do one of those random acts of kindness and wake me when I’m needed to squeeze out a tear over this. It makes me get so damn verklempt.

Tell you what, folks. I’d happily water the flowers on Hassan’s grave if someone would just spring for a pub visit on my way out there. After all, the least he deserves is a proper skinful. Gotta wash them Muslim bodies right halal, if you see my meaning … schnapps schnapps, chin chin, know whatahmean?

  4. Swedish court sentences Uzbek man for preparing attack (abcnews, Mar 8, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/swedish-court-sentences-uzbek-man-preparing-attack-61551382

“A 46-year-old man was found guilty Friday of preparing an attack in Stockholm on behalf of the Islamic State group and sentenced to seven years in jail.

The Solna District Court in Stockholm says David Idrisson, an Uzbek national who has been living legally in Sweden since 2008, should be expelled for life from Sweden where his family lives after serving his time. He was also found guilty of financing the radical Islamic group in Syria.

The court said Friday that Idrisson had gathered some 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of chemicals, knives, gas masks and military equipment, and photos of potentials targets in Stockholm were found on his cellphone.

Two other younger men who Idrisson knows and who were also suspected in the case, were acquitted. They were released from detention earlier this week.

A total of six men were also accused of financing IS by sending up to 20,000 kronor ($2.135) each. The court found four of them — including Idrisson — guilty of that charge and gave them prison sentences ranging between four and six months. Two were acquitted.

The men — five Uzbeks and a citizen of Kyrgyzstan — communicated via closed chatrooms. All live legally in Sweden and denied wrongdoing.

  5. Popular support for militants complicates Pakistan crackdown (abcnews, Mar 8, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/popular-support-militants-complicates-pakistan-crackdown-61549407

“On the congested streets of Bahawalpur, a city in southern Pakistan’s jihadi heartland, emotions run high in favor of Jaish-e-Mohammad, a U.N.-designated terror group that recently pushed nuclear-armed India and Pakistan to the brink of war.

Such support complicates Prime Minister Imran Khan’s latest crackdown on militant groups, including Jaish-e-Mohammed. In recent days, Khan has ordered the takeover of assets and property of dozens of banned militant organizations that operate in Pakistan.

Many of the groups are popular among the poor because they operate networks of charities. Some have also enjoyed the support of the military and intelligence services.

“Jaish-e-Mohammad is not a terrorist group, they just want to spread Islam,” said Tahir Zia, a gray-bearded shopkeeper in Bahawalpur, a city whose 18th-century founders claim to be direct descendants of Islam’s Prophet Mohammad.

According to Pakistan’s counter-terrorism agency, the government has outlawed 68 militant groups. This includes Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lahskar-e-Taiba and Harakat-ul Mujahedeen — Pakistan-based groups that seek to wrest control of Indian-administered territory in the disputed Kashmir region.

Kashmir is split between Pakistan and India and claimed by both in its entirety. The region has been the flashpoint of two wars between the South Asian neighbors as well as several lower-level face-offs.

The latest confrontation began Feb. 14, when a suicide bombing in Indian-controlled Kashmir killed 40 Indian soldiers. Jaish-e-Mohammad, which is based in Pakistan, claimed responsibility, even though the attacker was identified as an Indian Kashmiri militant. The bombing escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, with India launching an airstrike against suspected militant training camps inside Pakistan. Journalists, who visited the site hours after the bombing, said the area was a deserted forested hilltop.

Under pressure to rein in the militants, Pakistan took over mosques and religious schools belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad. Their students and teachers have been barred from talking to the media. Police and paramilitary rangers armed with AK-47s, now guard the group’s buildings.

The group’s headquarters on the northern outskirts of Bahawalpur, a city of 2 million people, are ringed by a 6-meter-high (20-foot) brick wall.

On a recent morning, several bearded men and two Pakistani police officers armed with automatic rifles turned away visitors approaching the compound’s large steel gates.

Bahawalpur is located on the edge of Pakistan’s Cholistan desert in the southern part of Punjab province. In recent decades, the area has become a jihadi heartland encouraged by state sponsorship and financial support from abroad, particularly Saudi Arabia, and several Gulf States.

The donors have financed a vast network of religious schools that cater to the poorest residents, teaching a brand of Islam that promotes sectarianism, brands Shiite Muslims as heretics and espouses jihad, or holy war, according to the Brussels-based International Crisis Group.

Khan, who adopted the role of peacemaker in the latest outbreak of hostilities between Pakistan and India, returned a captured Indian pilot, offered peace talks with his Indian counterpart, and launched a crackdown on militant groups from which previous administrations shied away.

On Tuesday, in a gesture aimed at mending relations on the subcontinent, Pakistan announced it had arrested 44 suspected members of several militant organizations, including Jaish-e-Mohammed. Among those arrested was Mufti Abdul Rauf, the brother of Masood Azhar, the founder of the organization. Azhar’s whereabouts are unknown.

Rauf was also among those named by India in a dossier it gave to Pakistan after Khan promised to investigate suspected links between Pakistani-based militants and the February bombing in Kashmir.

On Wednesday, more schools, hospitals and charities run by banned groups were taken over by the government. Padlocks were put on some facilities.

In a tweet Wednesday, Pakistani Interior Minister Shahryar Afridi promised his government would implement a widely cheered 2015 National Action Plan that calls for zero tolerance of militant groups. The previous government devised the 20-point plan to combat terrorism and extremism in Pakistan, only to ignore it.

Still the move by Khan’s government is fraught with dangers in a country where militant groups provide social services to poor residents ignored by the government. The 2016 Crisis Group report called south Punjab “the poorest region of the country’s richest and most populous province.”

In Bahawalpur, Jaish-e-Mohammad and its leader enjoy considerable support.

Anotehr storekeeper, Sajjad Ali, called Azhar a “man of peace” and dismissed accusations that he is a terrorist as Indian propaganda.

Hafiz Muzamil, a fiery young man, railed against India’s violent suppression of a 30-year insurgency in Kashmir —— India’s only Muslim dominated state —— and championed Jaish-e-Mohammad and Azhar as warriors for Islam. Crowds gathered as he spoke, most nodding vigorously.

Adnan Naseemullah, an expert in international affairs at King’s College in London, warned of a short-term backlash against the crackdown.

“Pakistan, if it takes an aggressive, no-tolerance stand against Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harakat ul-Mujahidin, will suffer a violent backlash domestically,” he said.

“But a zero-tolerance policy from the Pakistani state will over time shift the focus back on Kashmir and the treatment of the Kashmiri people, which is in Pakistan’s long-term interest,” he added.

International human rights groups have accused India of widespread abuses as it seeks to crush dissent in its part of Kashmir. “India’s policy on Kashmir under (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi is straightforwardly and violently repressive,” said Naseemullah.

For Pakistan, the deadly mix of militant groups on its soil is a decades-old problem with roots in the 1980s war in neighboring Afghanistan, when the United States and Pakistan were allies against the former Soviet Union. Together they nurtured an army of mujahedeen, or holy warriors, to oust the former Soviet Union from Afghanistan. When the war ended with a Soviet withdrawal in 1989, young Pakistani recruits to jihad were sent to the Indian half of disputed Kashmir to fight for a united Kashmir under the Pakistani flag.

It’s a history that analysts like Zahid Hussain, author of two books on militancy, say haunts Pakistan.

“Various Pakistani governments have promised to take action against the many groups but have not done so,” said Hussain. “Not only does it pose a danger to Pakistan’s own national internal security, there is always the danger they will use Pakistani soil to launch an attack across the border.””

The Democrats’ anti-Semitism crisis: The ‘speech’ problem, and how we keep our Republic
    By J.E. Dyer March 7, 2019

With each hour that passes, the House Democrats’ situation with Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota scrambles to outdo its previous land-speed record. A short while ago, I saw the point made that we might once have thought it would take some time for the Democratic Party in the U.S. to come to full “Corbynization”; i.e., to reach the level of full-blown, top-level-encouraged anti-Semitism of today’s UK Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn. Instead, the thing is done. Seemingly overnight, the Democrats have breached the firewall. It’s 7 March 2019, and they’re gone.

Ink is flowing copiously, meanwhile, with explications of how intersectionalism – like that apparently going into the House resolution to condemn “all forms or hate” – will make it harder, not easier, to identify and sanction actual hate.

This thread on the reported development of the House resolution, ongoing as I type, is classic.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/03/07/the-democrats-anti-semitism-crisis-the-speech-problem-and-how-we-keep-our-republic/

Richard: This article is a warning to the people of the US that we must wake up, raise up and fight to maintain our freedom. So far this doesn’t mean physical fighting (although that is probably very close) it means organizing and protesting the actions of the politicians who are seeking to take away our rights. It means voting for people who will follow the Constitution instead of running off following some flimsy dream of Utopia.

We must protect the Senate so it remains 2 Senators per State, we must protect the electoral Collage to ensure that all states, all of the people have a say in who is President.

We must work against the politicians who want to police what we may say about any and all subjects.

As J.E. points out in many ways this is 1932 and the end of the Weimar Republic. She says it isn’t quite that bad but it is very close to being that bad, the Dems/left has worked hard to create the climate where the Islamic antisemitism can become the norm in the US. But it is not just the Jews that are being demonized and hated, it is all Conservatives and Christians. We must fight by protesting and voting.

Yes I still believe that a violent civil war (an asymmetric war) is coming but it is much better if we are fighting to protect the duly elected President that is fighting to preserve our rights instead of fighting against a duly elected President that is working to take our rights away from us. This is why Trevor Loudon and the people at Epoch Times have moved to the US to help us fight for our rights, as he says if the US falls every nation falls.

The world is once again at a turning point, we can fight until we win and remain free or we can surrender and let the world sink into dictatorship and slavery for all but the very few at the top. The leftist like to belittle the people who fought and won the Cold War by saying that the WWII Generation was the Greatest Generation that the US has had. It is time for the current generation to stand up, fight back and claim the title of Greatest Generation for our own. When we win we will hold that title until another group of totalitarians gain enough power to create a Existential crisis for all free nations.

Make no mistake we (the free people of the world) must win this fight or freedom will die for many generations.

From the link: [House Majority Whip James] Clyburn came to Omar’s defense Wednesday, lamenting that many of the media reports surrounding the recent controversy have omitted mentioning that Omar, who born in Somalia, had to flee the country to escape and spent four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States.

Speaking of a plea for sympathy over self-inflicted mayhem, let’s please (with the benefit of complimentary emphasis) take a brief moment to review, in published order of appearance, the table of contents from a 2012 annual report by Genocide Watch (PDF):

      Democratic Republic of Congo
      Sudan
      • Syria
      Somalia
      • Afghanistan
      • Pakistan
      • North Korea
      • Myanmar (Burma)
      Ethiopia

What continent is sourcing almost half of these (even now) ongoing bloodbaths? Annnnd, what (*cough* ancestry *cough*) do Clyburn and Omar have in common? Could elevated melanin counts have the remotest thing to do with this? Please face the question squarely.

After all, this endless violence in Somalia or Kenya wouldn’t be happening if White people in Europe and the Americas hadn’t enchained far fewer Africans than were killed during a tiny fraction of Islam’s much longer and ghoulish slave trading history. Right? Right?!?

The minor (yes, comparatively minor) racial transgressions of Caucasians completely outweigh systematically exterminating countless millions of Blacks who were death-marched to the Arabian Peninsula—but mysteriously never managed to establish even a second tier caste like in early Europe and the Americas. I’m guessing all this lowlife bellyaching has something that’s more to do with a thingy they call the institutionalized colonial racism of inescapable White privilege.

Why is that? And why are sniveling, successful-crackery-culture-hating whiners like Clyburn and Omar so busy virtue signaling to their voter bases that they can’t take a moment and behave like people with an IQ larger than their shoe size? Hell, I’m feeling extra generous today and will even allow them to use European footwear sizes.

Her experience, Clyburn argued, is much more empirical — and powerful — than that of people who are generations removed from the Holocaust and other violent episodes that have marked history.

Clyburn should take his “much more empirical” revision of the Shoa’s permanent scar and vigorously cram it with handfuls of sandy walnuts. How curious that one of recent history’s “other violent episodes” was a genocide that killed some million hapless primitives. In fact, it was hosted by a melanin-enriched $h!thølé landmass whose enduring claim to fame is being the global village’s oldest and biggest cannibal abattoir.

The audacity of comparing perpetually self-inflicted Muslim atrocities to the Holocaust isn’t just inappropriate or ignorant, it’s a sterling indicator that this 40-acres-and-a-mule, git Whitey, gibsmedat, race-baiting house chigger piece of Sh!t is an Antisemite as well (like so many of his political or permanently aggrieved ilk).

  7. Kamala Harris: We shouldn’t focus on Omar’s anti-Semitism because it ‘puts her at risk’
By Howard Portnoy March 7, 2019

The first part of Sen. Kamala Harris’s statement as summarized in the headline (we shouldn’t focus on Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism) is outrageous, while the second part (it puts her at risk) is a truism. Obviously any public figure who is conspicuously biased against any group is in danger of retaliation from members or supporters of that group. We saw this most recently in the death threats against Covington Catholic school student Nick Sandmann, who the Left mistakenly believed had mocked the chanting on an American Indian activist.

But Harris’s statement, which follows, is flawed for a host of other reasons.

“Numerous demonstrations were being held on Friday in Turkey for International Women’s Day.

Demonstrators took to the streets in dozens of cities with slogans including ‘We want a city where we don’t get murdered’. The main initiative is planned for Istanbul, from the central Istiklal street to Taksim Square, where – like every year – thousands are expected to call for more rights and protest violence against women. The demonstrations are focusing on femicides and abuse, which NGOs active in the country saw are rising sharply.

In 2018, at least 440 women were killed in gender-based killings, over double the 210 estimated in 2012 by the ‘Stop the Femicide’ platform. Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has said that some 133,809 women had been subjected to violence in 2017. According to a previous government study, almost one in every four Turkish women have suffered physical or sexual abuse in their life.”

    March 7, 2019 Updated: March 7, 2019 Share

Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was hit with an ethics complaint on March 7 that accuses her of providing her boyfriend an official House email address by listing him as a staff member.

The complaint, filed to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by conservative non-profit Coolidge Reagan Foundation, comes after a different complaint alleging that two political action committees (PACs) backing the congresswoman’s campaign fed nearly $900,000 to a limited liability company (LLC) that functioned as a de facto slush fund for campaign spending, skirting campaign-transparency rules.

The new filing, first reported by Fox News, alleges that Ocasio-Cortez used her congressional privileges in an unethical manner in order for her to set up a House email address for her boyfriend Riley Roberts. There have now been two complaints questioning the operations of the congresswoman’s office and campaign.

  16. MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — Surveillance video on a Martin County school bus shows a bus aide yelling at a student to take off a “Make America Great Again” cap, then grabbing it off of his head.

Now, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether the bus aide committed a crime.

According to Gunnar Johansson, 14, students were allowed to wear a hat to school this week if they made a donation to March of Dimes.

He decided to wear a Make America Great Again hat in support of President Donald Trump and “to show my pride in Trump America,” Johansson said.

Within seconds of boarding a bus to Hidden Oaks Middle School, a bus aide told him to remove the hat and put it in his backpack..

“Boy, if you don’t that hat off this bus… take it off,” an unidentified bus aide said, according to surveillance video.

  17. Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Jewish Views Are Typical For Democrats’ Congressional Black Caucus
The Democrats’ internal fight over the anti-Semitism resolution reveals a stark picture of the competing factions vying for control over the party’s agenda.
    Erielle Davidson By Erielle Davidson
    MARCH 8, 2019
A House vote on a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism met fierce pushback from various factions within the Democrat Party this past week, leaving many to contemplate at what precise point in politics the condemnation of anti-Semitism became a controversial notion. We couldn’t agree last week that allowing a breathing, injured baby to be denied the care of a hospital was criminal. Apparently, we also can’t agree that hating Jews is despicable.

As David Marcus of The Federalist remarked darkly, “Hatred of the Jews is nuanced.” As the Democrats’ indulging of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) reveals, perhaps to the left it is. Or, more perniciously, what we have witnessed this past week is a highly public fight for the soul of the Democrat Party, a sort of forced reckoning with the wildly left elements of the party that seem intent on dragging the party to the depressing depths of their ideology.

  19. Our Planet Is Not Fragile

    By Walter E. Williams | March 6, 2019 12:59 PM EST
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims that “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” The people at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change agree, saying that to avoid some of the most devastating impacts of climate change, the world must slash carbon emissions by 45 percent by 2030 and completely decarbonize by 2050.

Such dire warnings are not new. In 1970, Harvard University biology professor George Wald, a Nobel laureate, predicted, “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” Also in 1970, Paul Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist, predicted in an article for The Progressive, “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” The year before, he had warned, “If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000.” Despite such harebrained predictions, Ehrlich has won no fewer than 16 awards, including the 1990 Crafoord Prize, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’ highest award.

Leftists constantly preach such nonsense as “The world that we live in is beautiful but fragile.” “The 3rd rock from the sun is a fragile oasis.” “Remember that Earth needs to be saved every single day.” These and many other statements, along with apocalyptic predictions, are stock in trade for environmentalists. Worse yet, this fragile-earth indoctrination is fed to the nation’s youth from kindergarten through college. That’s why many millennials support Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.

    • In 1970, Harvard University biology professor George Wald, a Nobel laureate, predicted, “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”

In this, Wald is absolutely correct. Until and “unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind”, these hysterical pearl-clutching Chicken Little loonies will use their dogmatic, anti-empirical Consensus Science to kill millions more unsuspecting victims.

Trifcovik summarized to perfection how the Great Warmening™ is being used:

“…to make room for the post-human, monistic Utopia spearheaded by the jihadist fifth column.

This crime can and must be stopped. The founders of the United States overthrew the colonial government for offenses far lighter than those of which the traitor class is guilty.”

Battle cry or epitaph? Floor wax or dessert topping? It’s our choice.

Doesn’t Wald’s chest full of virtue signalling medals prove this?

  20. WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis now have another thing in common: They both like the same campaign slogan.
Babis said Thursday at the White House that he similarly wants to “Make the Czech Republic great again.”

The two leaders already have much in common.

Babis, like Trump, is a wealthy businessman who rode into office on a nationalist-style campaign.

While Trump is dogged by special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, Babis is facing charges of misusing European Union subsidies for a farm he transferred to relatives, including his son.

Trump wants to strengthen the U.S. border with Mexico. Babis is a vocal opponent of accepting migrants and refugees in his country.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump greeted the prime minister of the central European country and his wife, Monika Babisova, outside the White House and they walked to the Oval Office.

“Czech Republic doing very, very well economically and in all other respects,” Trump said. “It’s always been a safe country. Strong military. Strong people. We have a very good relationship with the Czech Republic and the United States. We do a lot of trade.”

Dutch author and sociologist Ruud Koopmans said this week that Muslims are more difficult to integrate into Western society than other migrant groups because of a literal interpretation of the Quran prevalent among Muslims.
Ruud Koopmans, professor at the Berlin Social Science Center and author of several books including Contested Citizenship: Immigration and Cultural Diversity in Europe, told the Danish newspaper Berlingske that whereas most groups of migrants integrate relatively quickly, especially from one generation to the next, Islam stands out as an exception.

“Although it’s not completely absent in Muslims, the change is much slower,” he said, noting that a literal interpretation of the Quran prevents them from integrating into Western countries.

In an earlier published study titled “Fundamentalism and out-group hostility,” Koopmans compared Muslim radicalism with Christian radicalism to better understand why Islam stands out for its isolationism.

“Almost 60 percent agree that Muslims should return to the roots of Islam,” he wrote, while “75 percent think there is only one interpretation of the Qur’an possible to which every Muslim should stick.”

I have a new hobby. It’s collecting the excuses Democrats make for Ilhan Omar, the Minnesota Democratic congresswoman who has an unhealthy fixation on Jewish influence, Jewish money, and Jewish loyalty. Omar has said that Israel “hypnotized the world,” attributing Jews with the power of mind control in the service of manipulating public opinion. She’s said the only reason Congress supports Israel is Jewish campaign donations. Most recently, using the classic anti-Semitic trope of dual loyalty, she criticized supporters of Israel for having “allegiance to a foreign power.” A real treasure, Omar is. A typical freshman congresswoman sees her mission as—forgive the expression—bringing home the bacon for her district. Not Ilhan. Her project is to mainstream anti-Semitic rhetoric within the Democratic Party. Once upon a time, you’d have to visit the invaluable website of the Middle East Media Research Institute to hear such tripe. Now you just need to flip on C-SPAN.

    This doesn’t look good…

Two days after reports about North Korea rebuilding a long-range missile test site surfaced in Western media, the Korea Times reported Thursday that a 2.1-magnitude earthquake has been detected in North Korea.

Most alarmingly, the Korean Meteorological Administration said the quake was the result of “artificial” seismic activity, presumably the result of an explosion inside a mine.

“The epicenter is measured to be near the land surface,” one official reportedly said.

  27. The man at the centre of a campaign to expose one of Pakistan’s most notorious “honour killings” cases has been shot dead nearly seven years after he brought it to national attention. M Ilyas Khan reports from Islamabad.

A video showing two men dancing as four women sing a wedding song to the beat of clapping would pass as normal anywhere in the world.

But this scene, filmed in 2011 in rural Pakistan, led to chilling consequences. The women in the video, and a young female member of the family who was also at the scene, are believed to have been killed by male relatives for “breaching their honour”.

Afzal Kohistani, a brother of the men in the video, has now been killed too. His death comes amid a blood feud that has also seen three of his other brothers killed.

Mr Kohistani was shot dead in a busy commercial area of the north-western city of Abbottabad on Wednesday night, police said, quoting witnesses to the killing. He suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot, they said.

  28. A number of questions face investigators looking into Tuesday’s Islamist militant attack at Conde-sur-Sarthe high security prison.

How did Muslim convert Michaël Chiolo and his companion, Hanane Aboulhana, get hold of the ceramic knife with which they attacked two prison guards, leaving them seriously wounded?

If, as seems likely, the knife was smuggled in by his partner when she came for a conjugal visit, why was she not properly searched?

And third, why was Chiolo – a known radical Islamist – being treated under the same prison regime as common criminals, and not under a higher level of surveillance?

Finding answers to the first two questions should be straightforward.

French media report that visitors to prison Family Life Units (UVFs) are only obliged to pass through metal detectors, which are useless against ceramic blades. Body searches require consent.

  29. Iran: Child Executions, Amputations, Floggings

    by Majid Rafizadeh
    March 8, 2019 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13841/iran-executions-amputations-floggings

According to a report published by Amnesty International on February 26, the human rights situation in Iran has “severely deteriorated”. Why then does the European Union continue to pursue appeasement policies with a regime that has an excruciating human rights record? Sadly, Europe — in spite its endless moral preening and self-righteousness — seems to have become the world most immoral player — if it was not already. The European Union, for instance, unjustly singles out for bullying the only liberal, democratic, human-rights-abiding country in the Middle East: Israel. Not Turkey for occupying Northern Cyprus, China for obliterating Tibet, or Pakistan for occupying Kashmir. Europe and the corrupt United Nations do not lay a glove on the real perpetrators of crimes against humanity such as China, Cuba, Russia, Turkey, North Korea, Nigeria or Sudan, to name just a few.

The stench of Europe’s duplicity cannot be overstated. Europe ravenously throws sanctions on a country that has been home to Jews for more than three thousand years, yet tries to find ways to keep on doing business with a country such as Iran that is not only trying to establish its hegemony throughout the Middle East — through proxies in Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon — but is also the serial violator of just about every human right imaginable (here, here, here, and here). The only conclusion one can come to is that Europe would evidently still like to kill the Jews and is happy to support those wishing to kill them. How much more immoral can one get?

    • Why then does the European Union continue to pursue appeasement policies with a regime that has an excruciating human rights record?

It’s because, way down deep, they’re jealous.

        • They do want to return to a feudal society.

If their Muslim pets are any indication, they’ll be a feudin’ all of the time.

Collins, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, took the unusual step by reading a statement on the House floor and providing a link to the Ohr transcript in the public record. The representative said his patience with the Justice Department “has grown thin.”

Ohr served in 2016 and 2017 as a back channel between the FBI and Christopher Steele, the former British spy who authored the anti-Trump dossier alleging collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government. (RELATED: Bruce Ohr’s Testimony Contradicts Glenn Simpson’s)

Ohr’s wife, Nellie Ohr, worked as a contractor for Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that hired Steele.

Bruce Ohr was interviewed on Aug. 28, 2018 by a task force of members from the House Judiciary and House Oversight Committees.

Collins said Friday that he plans to release additional transcripts from interviews conducted by the task force. Lawmakers have also interviewed Nellie Ohr and FBI and Justice Department officials such as former FBI general counsel James Baker and former FBI attorney Lisa Page.

First cousins in love with each other petition to get legally married in Utah

Two cousins who say they are in love with each other have created an online petition calling for the state of Utah to allow them to get legally married. “My first cousin and I have been in love with each other our whole lives but we are prohibited from marrying in the state of Utah where we live,” Angela Peang writes in the petition. “We believe that the law is outdated and it needs to be changed so that we can socially legitimize our love.”

The couple’s goal is to get 1,000 signatures; as of Wednesday morning, about 75 have signed on. Peang told CBS News she’s loved her cousin, Michael Lee, since she was in second grade. Peang’s father is the oldest of 12 children; his sister, the fifth child in that family, is Lee’s mother.

“We just always played a lot,” Peang remembered of her childhood interactions with Lee. “We went into a closet and we were kissing and dancing together. It just felt really natural.”

  32. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson, who was considered a top candidate to become the next secretary of defense, has decided to resign after almost two years leading a service at the heart of America’s campaigns in Syria and Afghanistan, a U.S. official told Reuters.

Wilson, who aims to return to academia, was not asked to leave by anyone in President Donald Trump’s administration and was not resigning under pressure, the official told Reuters.

She plans to step down on May 31 to become president of the University of Texas at El Paso, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The University of Texas Board of Regents still has to approve Wilson’s selection but she is the sole candidate.

  33. Every Democratic Excuse For Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Semitism Is More Vile Than The Last

This week, the Democratic Party proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is willing to not only countenance but embrace anti-Semitism, so long as the anti-Semitism comes from members of their intersectional coalition. In less than two months, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has fallen under scrutiny for open anti-Semitism no less than three times. First, she came under scrutiny for an old tweet in which she stated that Israel had “hypnotized the world” – an old anti-Semitic canard attributing magical powers to the Jews. Then, she came under fire for suggesting that American support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins” – an old anti-Semitic canard that Jewish money lay at the root of America’s support for Israel. Finally, she came under scrutiny for stating that American supporters of Israel were exhibiting dual loyalty – a third old anti-Semitic canard suggesting that Jews are unified by clan, and are thus a nefarious force within the broader body politic.

  38. Pro-Migrant Groups Complain of ‘Lack of Profit’ After Salvini Cuts (breitbart, Mar 8, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/08/pro-migrant-groups-complain-lack-profit-salvini-cuts/

“Pro-migrant co-op groups which manage asylum reception centres have complained there will be a lack of “profit” after cuts made by populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.

The associations which run the migrant reception centres expressed displeasure over the cost-cutting measures that look to reduce the cost of each migrant from 35 to 20 euros per day, arguing that “quality” of service would be affected, Il Giornale reports.

The associations signed a letter slamming the cuts saying that they only provide migrants with basic food and accommodation and do not factor in other issues such as learning Italian, as well as health and social services including psychiatric care for migrants with mental issues.

The groups also noted there would be less money for “company profits” and “overheads” likely reducing the pay of those working at the migrant centres.

Salvini and others have presented many reasons for the cuts, arguing that money was being wasted on migrants unlikely to obtain refugee status when 70 percent on average are rejected.

“Who saw immigration as a trough is, from today, on a diet,” Salvini said and slammed mafia groups and others for trying to make a profit from migrants adding, “the world of hospitality will remain that of true volunteers.”

Reports of Italian mafia groups being involved in asylum seeker reception centres have been noted for several years including in 2016 when it was claimed that criminal groups in Sicily were taking government money to house migrants while providing substandard living conditions.

The mafia was also accused of forcing migrants to pay them “protection money” with migrants who disagreed being dealt with harshly and often with violence.

Another report released last year by Italy’s anti-mafia task force showed that migration had become one of the most profitable businesses for criminal organisations across the country.

Foreign organised crime groups often from North African countries, were also said to be cooperating with traditional Italian mafia groups.”
