Contributor’s Links post for March 8, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Mother in FGM case ‘betrayed’ three-year-old daughter by mutilating her, as she is sentenced to 13 years (telegraph, Mar 8, 2019)

“The first person to be convicted of FMG in Britain “betrayed” her three-year-old daughter by mutilating her, a judge said, as she jailed her for 13 years

The 37-year-old Ugandan woman was found guilty of cutting her three-year-old daughter at her home during the 2017 summer holidays. After helping a “witch” carry out the practice, she then cast a series of black magic spells.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for cutting her toddler daughter, and an extra two years for indecent images of children and animal pornography as police raided her home following her arrest.

Jailing her, Mrs Justice Whipple said: “The person mutilated was your daughter. She was just three years old when you cut her. FGM has long been against our law, and let’s be clear: FGM is a form of child abuse.

“It involves deliberate physical mutilation. It is a barbaric practice and a serious crime.

“You committed this offence at home, where she should have felt safe, and as her mother you betrayed her trust in you as her protector.””

  2. Richard: Looks like the testimony was scripted by the Dems.

REPORT: Cohen Met With Schiff’s Staff Numerous Times Before Hearing

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen told investigators that House Intelligence Committee staffers for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) traveled to New York to meet with him multiple times “immediately before” last month’s hearing on Capitol Hill, according to a Fox News report.

Two sources told Fox News that Cohen said the staffers traveled to New York at least four times and met with him for over 10 hours.

Fox News writes, “The sources said the sessions covered a slew of topics addressed during the public hearing before the oversight committee — including the National Enquirer’s “Catch and Kill” policy, American Media CEO David Pecker and the alleged undervaluing of President Trump’s assets.”

  3. New Yorkers Seek to Divide State to Distance Themselves from Liberal Policies

A New York Republican Assemblyman introduced a bill to divide the state into three autonomous segments as a way to distance the state from the liberal policies he claims are dragging down the rest of the region.

The Washington Times reports, “…Republican assemblyman [David DePietro] went out on a limb last month by introducing a bill that would divide New York into three autonomous regions, each controlled by its own governors and legislatures. He argues that what works for New York City is dragging the rest of the state into economic oblivion.”

“Western New York, where I’m from, has the most population loss with 18- to 35-year-olds. Our kids are leaving the state in droves, the most anywhere in the country,” said DiPietro. “There’s no jobs. And New York City controls this.”

  4. Judicial Watch Uncovers DOJ Records Showing Numerous Bruce Ohr Communications with Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today it received 339 pages of heavily redacted records from the U.S. Department of Justice which reveal that former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr remained in regular contact with former British spy and Fusion GPS contractor Christopher Steele after Steele was terminated by the FBI in November 2016 for revealing to the media his position as an FBI confidential informant.

The records show that Ohr served as a go-between for Steele by passing along information to “his colleagues” on matters relating to Steele’s activities. Ohr also set up meetings with Steele, regularly talked to him on the telephone and provided him assistance in dealing with situations Steele was confronting with the media.

Judicial Watch obtained the records through a March 2018 Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed after the Justice Department failed to respond a December 2017 request Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:18-cv-00490)). The lawsuit seeks:

  5. Republicans continue reshaping federal judiciary, though you probably are focused on Democrat anti-Semitism

Posted by William A. Jacobson Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 5:00pm

The Corbynization of the Democrat Party and the reshaping of the judiciary both will have generational impact.

Much focus the past week has been on the anti-Semitic accusations of dual and disloyalty from Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, backed by the progressive wing of the party, particularly Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Democrats not only have been unable to deal with it, they connived to water down a planned resolution condemning the recent anti-Semitic outbursts of Omar.

This Corbynization of the Democrat Party got all the attention, but but there was other news mostly under the media radar: Republicans in the Senate continued to confirm judicial nominees over Democrat protests, and the pace may pick up.

In a March 5, 2019, update, Carrie Severino of the Judicial Crisis Network had the prior week’s action:

  6. Women’s day marchers clash with police in Turkey

Using rubber bullets and teargas, Turkish police have dispersed a crowd of several thousand marchers who gathered outside Istanbul’s Taksim Square on International Women’s Day, local media reported with videos from the scene.

  8. JEXODUS: Jewish Millennials Launch A ‘Liberation Movement’ From The Democratic Party

For decades, the Democratic Party has often taken the Jewish-American vote for granted. In no presidential election since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948 has the Democratic Party failed to win a plurality of the Jewish vote. Even the infamously anti-Israel Jimmy Carter won a 45% plurality share of the Jewish vote in 1980, outdoing Ronald Reagan’s 39% of the Jewish vote. In 2016, 71% of Jews pulled the lever for Hillary Clinton. While the minority of American Jews who identify as Orthodox routinely favor the Republican Party at the ballot box, non-Orthodox Jews tend to overwhelmingly support Democrats.

  9. At least 50 migrants wounded in Libya detention facility following protest: UN (mee, Mar 8, 2019)

“At least 50 migrants in a Libya detention facility were wounded after authorities suppressed a protest, the UN’s refugee agency said on Friday.

Details of the protest in the Tripoli facility on Friday remain sketchy at this point and the government has yet to make an official comment.

The protest was “driven by frustration and anxiety” as the migrants had been held for months “in extremely dire conditions,” the UN refugee agency UNHCR said, according to a Reuters report.

“Around 50 people were reportedly injured when the authorities sought to suppress the protest. Two individuals were badly injured and transferred to Abu Salim hospital,” a UNHCR statement said, without giving more details.

The detention centre could not be for reached for comment…”

  10. House Democrats try to censor free political speech with Orwellian H.R. 1 “For the People Act”

“The bill proposes a radical expansion of government control over political speech.” What else did you expect from the left? The Democrats, and the left in general, have been all about shutting down the speech of their opponents for years. That’s why the social media giants are hard at work censoring, scrubbing, deplatforming and silencing voices of freedom. That’s why speaking the truth about the jihad terror threat will get you defamed, ridiculed, vilified, and smeared. It’s only a matter of time: if the current leadership of the Democrats gain full power, free speech will be definitively dead.

  11. Germany won’t classify Iran ally Hezbollah as terrorist (memo, Mar 8, 2019)

“Germany will not follow Britain’s lead in declaring Iran-backed Hezbollah a terrorist organisation, a senior official was quoted as saying on Friday, a decision that may fuel tensions with Saudi Arabia and the United States, Reuters reports.

Minister of State Niels Annen told weekly news magazine Der Spiegel that the Shi’ite Muslim Islamist movement remained a relevant factor in Lebanese society and the European Union had already added its military wing to a list of proscribed groups in 2013…”

  12. Former Belgian PM Hails Morocco’s Role in Euro-African Relations (moroccoworldnews, Mar 8, 2019)

“A European official has stressed the importance of Morocco in Europe’s plan to reinforce the Euro-African framework of collaboration.

On a “friendship trip” to Morocco, Belgium’s former Prime Minister Elio di Rupo said on Thursday that his country has always been keen on strengthening ties with Morocco, and remains an important partner for the North African country.

According to Di Rupo, Morocco’s strategic location gives it prime importance in Europe’s rising interest in Africa. Rabat, the Belgian argued, should be the natural focal point in any current and prospective Euro-African agenda…”

  13. Turkey, Russia hold joint naval drill in the Black Sea (hurriyetdailynews, Mar 9, 2019)

“Russian and Turkish naval forces held a joint maneuver in the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on March 8.

Russian patrol ship “Vasily Bykov” and sea trawler “Valentin Pikul,” and Turkish navy corvette “Burgazada” and minesweeper “Akçay” took part in the drill conducted near the port of Novorossiysk, the ministry said in a statement.

The statement said the two countries’ forces worked together to simulate safe navigation of vessels out of a naval minefield.

The drill was part of Turkey’s national naval war games “Blue Motherland-2019.””

  14. Muslims face most discrimination in US: Poll (aa, Mar 8, 2019)

“Muslims face more discrimination than any other religious group in the United States, according to a poll of registered voters published Friday.

Conducted by political website The Hill and market research and consulting services company HarrisX, it found that 85 percent of respondents believe Muslims face discrimination while 79 percent said Jews are discriminated against.

Some 61 percent of respondents said Christians face discrimination, while 55 percent said atheists face discrimination.

The poll’s release comes during a week in which an anti-hate resolution was passed in Congress to condemn anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry.

All three Congressional Muslims hailed its passage, calling it “historic on many fronts”.

“It’s the first time we have voted on a resolution condemning anti-Muslim bigotry in our nation’s history,” Reps. Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Andre Carson said in a statement.

The resolution made its way onto the House floor in the wake of comments made by Omar criticizing Israel, sparking outrage among critics, who said the remarks were anti-Semitic.

“I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country,” Omar said at a town hall last week, referring to Israel.

While many in Congress slammed her comments, including Rep. Eliot Engel, who called them “unacceptable and deeply offensive”, some lawmakers came to her defense.

“One of the things that is hurtful about the extent to which reprimand is sought of Ilhan is that no one seeks this level of reprimand when members make statements about Latinx + other communities,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter.

The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted March 1-2 among 1,003 registered voters. The sampling’s margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.”

      Die große Lüge —

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

  15. Diane Abbott fears she will be raped or murdered by trolls and extremists and is convinced that a fanatic like Jo Cox’s killer has a room full of her pictures (dailymail, Mar 8, 2019)

“Diane Abbott has spoken of her fears that she could be murdered or raped by one of the Right-wing extremists and social media trolls who bombard her with vile threats.

She said she never used to think she was in such danger but the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox by a far-Right extremist in 2016 changed her view.

The shadow home secretary said it dawned on her after being told Mrs Cox’s killer had a room bedecked with photos of his victim.

It convinced Miss Abbott that ‘someone out there’ had a room full of images of her – and she could suffer the same fate…”

    • “A room bedecked with photos of his victim”can you show us any proof of this room?It seems that mr mair was framed for there is much in this affair that is really iffy and in reality concerned more the removal of an mp,than highlight the terror of the Nazis under our beds.As for its sexual fantasy, there is no-one gross enough, except for corbyn to even contemplate engaging in anything bestial with this evolutionary discrace.

    • The hidden key to the SNC-Lavalin scandal

SNC-Lavalin, a Canadian corporate giant with an established history of corruption, is charged with bribing the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s brutal regime over many years, in exchange for lucrative contracts.

This case is the most serious and important prosecution of corporate corruption in modern Canadian history, and we’re arguing about jobs and whether Jody Wilson-Raybould is hard to get along with.

It is not only appropriate, but essential that this matter go to trial in an open and public hearing, so that Canadians can see how the world’s bloodiest tyrants are cossetted, indulged, and enabled.

Perhaps the most depressing spectacle of the entire affair is watching Justin Trudeau, a man who clearly aspires to greatness, debase himself and this nation, by begging, pushing, imploring Canada’s attorney general to let this company off the hook.

Then effectively firing her when she wouldn’t comply, and allowing her credibility to be undermined.
