Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

Canada is looking to ward off the type of threats that tainted the last U.S. presidential election and the Brexit vote, with a sweeping government plan to fight election interference.

It includes a special panel that is supposed to sound the alarm if democratic rights are being undermined, and $7 million to help teach Canadians that what you see on Twitter or Facebook may be designed to deceive you.

India, the world’s biggest democracy, heads to the polls in just a few months.

It’s a country where fake news has actually killed people, something the government is looking to stop by making the dissemination of fake news against the law.

But can a law actually stop fake news?

  4. The problem with the media is that reporters can’t admit their own agendas
By Benny Huang January 31, 2019

Dan Levin of the New York Times doesn’t like the suggestion that he’s got an ax to grind with Christian schools. Levin, who covers the youth beat for the Newspaper of Record™, recently tweeted:

“I’m a New York Times reporter writing about #exposechristianschools. Are you in your 20s or younger who went to a Christian school? I’d like to hear about your experience and its impact on your life. Please DM me.”

Solicitation of this kind is one clue that a reporter has already allowed his agenda to write the story. When a reporter asks his readers to send in material for an upcoming article, you can bet that the article’s tone, slant, and message have already been determined. This is especially true when the journalist doing the solicitation writes for an outlet like the Times. He knows what type of people will respond just as his readers know what kind of material he wants to receive.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro translated the tweet well when he tweeted back: “I’m a reporter seeking lapsed religious people to rip on their religious upbringing. Please contact me!”

  5. MEMRI – Pittsburgh Imam: Blacks in America Are Under Occupation; Black Liberation Army Was Effective

Pittsburgh-based imam Na’eem Abdullah said during a sermon that was uploaded to the Nur Uz-Zamaan Institute’s YouTube channel on June 22, 2018, that black Americans need to understand that they are “under occupation.”

He compared the current situation of the black man in America to the situation of the Israelites under Pharaoh in biblical Egypt, and he said that the young black man is “public enemy number one” the same way that the young Israelite males were targeted by Pharaoh.

He said that black parents must teach this to their children, and that the killing of innocent black people was not reduced until the forming of groups like the Black Liberation Army, the mandate of which was “to retaliate against every officer that killed someone.”

Abdullah added: “You all need to think about that.”

During a different lecture that was uploaded to YouTube on January 12, 2019, Abdullah said that black nationalism does not contradict Islam and that it is in fact a Sunnah.

The Nur Uz-Zamaan Institute, the philosophy of which is based on a program developed by Imam Abdullah, works in partnership with Masjid Al-Mu’min, where Abdullah preaches and where these lectures were delivered.

    • MEMRI ( RESTRICTED ) Antisemitic Addresses by Pittsburgh Imam Na’eem Abdullah: Ashkenazi Jews Aren’t Real Jews

Pittsburgh-based Imam Na’eem Abdullah delivered several Friday sermons and lectures that were uploaded between October 2016 and December 2018 to the YouTube channel of the Nur Uz-Zamaan Institute.

In a video that was uploaded on October 15, 2016, Abdullah said that the American Empire is considered by many scholars to be the continuation of the Roman Empire, and that close examination reveals that the Jews are “running everything” behind the scenes.

He also said: “Real Jews, or the Ashkenazi [Jews]?”

In another video that was uploaded on April 7, 2018, Abdullah said that the Jews have Allah’s anger and that Christians have gone astray.

He also told a story from the Quran in which Allah transformed some Jews into apes and pigs.

In a June 29, 2018, video, Imam Abdullah explained that there is a lesson to be learned from the Prophet Muhammad’s expulsion of the Jews of Banu Nadir from Medina for having behaved treacherously.

Abdullah said: “We have to behave the exact opposite of that… [The Jews] weren’t out organizing [because] they have all the money.”

In a fourth video that was uploaded on December 29, 2018, Abdullah said that Judaism and Christianity had been co-opted by the “religion of white supremacy” and made into “white-supremacist religions.”

He said that black people who consider themselves Jews don’t benefit from Israel the same way other people do.

The Nur Uz-Zamaan Institute, the philosophy of which is based on a program developed by Imam Abdullah, works in partnership with Masjid Al-Mu’min, where Abdullah preaches and where the lectures in this clip were delivered.

  6. Nellie Ohr researched Trump’s kids for Fusion GPS
By Daily Caller News Foundation January 30, 2019

The wife of a Justice Department official who worked for Fusion GPS during the 2016 campaign told Congress in 2018 that one of her tasks at the opposition research firm was to research President Donald Trump’s children, including their business activities and travel.

Nellie Ohr, a former contractor for Fusion GPS, also told lawmakers during an Oct. 19 deposition that she recalls that Christopher Steele gave her husband, Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, materials from the infamous anti-Trump dossier funded by Democrats.

Ohr said during the testimony that Steele, who like her was a contractor for Fusion GPS, hoped that her husband would pass the materials to the FBI.

  7. MEMRI –Iraqi Sunni Politician Sheikh Taha Al-Dulaimi: 98% of Americans Killed in Iraq Were Killed by Sunnis

In a video he uploaded to social media on January 24, 2019, Iraqi Sunni politician Taha Al-Dulaimi accused the Shiites of welcoming the U.S. occupation of Iraq in 2003 and of subsequently claiming that they had expelled the Americans when the occupation withdrew.

He mockingly said: “Now – you ‘Ali Baba’ Shiites – the Americans have returned… Show us how tough you are.”

Al-Dulaimi said that when the “Sunni Spring” comes, the Sunnis will drink tea in Baghdad and Tehran, and that the Shiites will “turned one another into mincemeat” when a proposal for Sunni autonomy for Arabs and Kurds comes up.

He also said that only 2% of the Americans killed in Iraq had been killed by Shiites and that even this had been done for the sake of Iran rather than Iraq.

Sheikh Al-Dulaimi, a former physician, is the founder of the “Sunni Movement” (Al-Tayar Al-Sunni) in Iraq, which is active on social media.

    • Iraq’s Importance To The Survival Of Iran’s Regime And Economy Following US Sanctions

As the impact of the US sanctions on Iran’s economy increases, after even countries that oppose US policy are complying with them, Iraq’s importance to the survival of Iran’s regime and economy also increases.…

“From the Americans’ point of view, if Iran reaches energy agreements with even one or two of its neighbors, the American sanctions will not be able to block Iran’s energy [export] route. Therefore, severing Iraq’s relations with Iran is a strategic need for Washington.”

…It appears that the Iranian regime is pursuing this path because Iranian hegemony over Iraq will allow Iran to export oil via Iraq, and to obtain goods in exchange, with no need for banks or dollars – thus circumventing the US sanctions. In this way, Iran’s regime can continue to exist, as can its expansion in the region.…

  8. Iran: Thousands of women rally for govt. ahead of Islamic Revolution 40th anniversary

Thousands of Iranian women and girls gathered at Tehran’s Imam Hussein square on Thursday to express their support for Iran’s government, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“All the conspiracies they [US] have done during these 40 years have failed and they still do not give up. However, we slap the US across the face with our resistance and our getting together here,” demonstrator Asgari said.

“We are here in order not to let the US or any other countries separate us from the Islamic revolution,” demonstrator Golshenas said.

Each year in Iran, the Islamic Revolution, which ended the monarchical rule of the House of Pahlavi, is commemorated from February 1 to February 11, a period known as ‘Ten-Day Dawn.’

  9. Civil Servant Suspected of Arranging Marriages to Keep Migrants in France (breitbart, Jan 31, 2019)

“A city project manager in Villepinte has been accused of arranging so-called “white marriages” to help migrants remain in France and is said to have been involved in over a dozen cases.

The 50-year-old female civil servant, who has not been identified, is accused of helping at least a dozen or more migrants gain residency permits through the organisation of “white marriages” over the last two years with reports being forwarded to the prosecutor of Bobigny, Le Parisien reports.

A source close to the investigation claimed the woman had appeared alongside several couples at various cities in the area to help facilitate marriages in which the man involved had no papers to remain in France. The source added that the woman would sometimes shop around to different cities if met with resistance by a local official who questioned the sincerity of the marriage.

A note from the general administration of Villepinte confirms the reports, claiming that the woman “was very insistent several times with the civil status by asking that this ‘couple of friends’ be married very quickly,” during a meeting with civil servants in Sevran last summer.

Some Sevran civil servants also recalled she had married a woman and her daughter several weeks apart, both to migrants without legal residency papers.

Villepinte Mayor Martine Valleton, a member of the conservative Republicans, called the accusations a “conspiracy” saying, “Maybe she accompanies couples to the extent that her mission is to help people from neighbourhoods, some of whom do not speak French… but beyond that, it is false.”

Despite the defence of the woman, who it should be noted helped campaign for Valleton, the mayor announced she would be opening an administrative investigation to settle the issue.

The report comes as German migrant transport NGO Mission Lifeline tweeted that Germans should marry illegal migrants to help keep them in the country.

The tweet was met with severe criticism by many online including Philipp Amthor, of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who said, “His absurd call for entering marriages shows clearly that these ‘sea rescue’ [NGOs] in fact pursue a much larger agenda. They want to thwart our immigration law with their left-wing ideology and lead our constitutional state by the nose.”

Last year Swedish journalist and “culture critic” Kristina Lindquist also advocated for people to marry illegals saying, “To give a person a refugee residence permit — is not that a great opportunity to marry someone who can manage and wants it?””

[…]intended to drive away the evil eye and malicious gossip.

[…]the phallus was an integral part of the early ethnic religion that existed in Bhutan before Buddhism

  10. Turkey’s Sweeping “Educational” Penetration into the Balkans

    by Uzay Bulut
    January 31, 2019 at 4:00 am

As part of its expansionist neo-Ottoman agenda, the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been building mosques and setting up Islamic educational institutions around the world. The mosque that Ankara is currently constructing in Tirana, Albania, will reportedly be the largest of the dozens of its mosques in the Balkans.

Through the Maarif Foundation — established in 2016 by means of a law enacted by the Turkish parliament, which gave it the authority to open schools abroad — a kindergarden, primary-, middle- and high-schools were built in Tirana. In October 2018, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu was the keynote speaker at the inauguration in Albania of the Maarif-run University of New York Tirana.

According to the 2016 Maarif law, the foundation aims to “give and develop services of formal and informal education abroad.” Some of its activities include “giving scholarships to students, opening schools, educational institutions and dormitories and training educators who will work at these institutions.”

Maarif (“education” in Arabic) is a well-funded institution whose income comes from the Turkish government as well as from private donors, among other sources. Four members of its board of trustees are appointed by Turkey’s president and three by the Council of Ministers. Its seven permanent members are also government employees.

  11. 11,000 Non-Citizens on Voting Rolls in Pennsylvania
    January 31, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

Good thing Pennsylvania isn’t a crucial state in national elections.

A top Pennsylvania lawmaker called on the state Wednesday to immediately expunge the names of 11,198 noncitizens whom the state confirmed are registered to vote, despite not being eligible.

State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, a Republican and former chairman of a House government oversight panel, said the administration of Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, belatedly acknowledged the large number of noncitizens in communications over the past two months.

“I believe that we need to take action and have those people removed immediately from the rolls,” Mr. Metcalfe told The Washington Times. “They were never eligible to vote.”

But the media will insist that it’s all a hoax and that voter fraud isn’t an issue. And then by 2024, will be arguing that of course non-citizens have voted and should be entitled to vote in all elections.

  14. Denmark’s government changes policy on UN quota refugees with new bill

The UNHCR and the Danish Refugee Council have criticised the government for a new bill which seeks to ease the path to repatriation of UN quota refugees.

A new immigration bill seeks to apply the government’s general change in approach to giving asylum status to UN quota refugees, newspaper Politiken reports.

The bill provides for quota refugees to be subject to the same rules regarding their asylum status as all other types of refugees taken in by Denmark.

That means the application of the government’s view that the status of refugees should always be considered as temporary, and that their status should be revoked as soon as conditions in origin countries are deemed to enable this.

“We wish to send a very clear signal to refugees that, if you are given permission to stay in Denmark, this is temporary, and this also applies to quota refugees,” immigration minister Inger Støjberg said to the newspaper.

United Nations refugee agency UNHCR considers the proposal by the Danish government to be a break with the historical spirit of international participation in its refugee programme, although there are no legal obstacles to withdrawing the status of refugees if conditions in their home countries are considered peaceful, Politiken writes.

“The key aspect with regard to quota refugees is that this small group of refugees have come to Denmark via UNHCR’s quota programme, and there has been a general understanding that resettlement via the quota programme takes place with a view to a long-term and permanent resolution,” the agency spokesperson for Denmark Elisabeth Arnsdorf Haslund told the newspaper.

“It is also worth remembering that, before quota refugees come to Denmark, they have been through a thorough and comprehensive selection process and have been prepared for life in Denmark,” Haslund added.

The Danish Refugee Council’s head of asylum Eva Singer said in comments given to the paper that other countries generally perceived quota refugees to belong to a specially protected group who could consider their resettlement in a new country to be permanent.

“There has always been a near-unspoken perception of resettlement of quota refugees as a permanent resolution. This will change that,” Singer said.

Quota refugees are distributed by the UNHCR from refugee camps in areas close to conflict zones and therefore arrive in Denmark and other countries via a different route to those who make journeys to, for example, northern European countries.

Denmark has, since 2016, refused to take in any refugees under the UN quota system, with Støjberg saying the country needs to focus on integrating refugees recently arrived in the country.

Until 2016, Denmark received around 500 quota refugees per year from the UNHCR, before the government temporarily suspended Denmark’s participation. It extended that suspension in both 2017 and 2018.

Refugees who arrived under the quota scheme prior to its suspension, and any who come at a later date should Denmark resume its participation, would be considered to have been given temporary protection in the same way as all others granted asylum in the country, under the new proposal.

The term ‘paradigm shift’ has been used to refer to the government’s change in approach to asylum policy, initially driven by the anti-immigration Danish People’s Party. The change reflects the view that all refugees should be seen as temporary guests and that less emphasis in general should be placed on assisting them to integrate, as this would aid their long-term prospects in Danish society.

The opposition Social Democrats generally support the ‘paradigm shift’ to considering all refugees as temporary, but the party’s immigration spokesperson Mattias Tesfaye said during the first round of parliamentary procedure of the bill that his party considered resettlement of quota refugees to be for “people who will stay in Denmark”.

The party, which takes a hard line on immigration similar to the government, has, however, confirmed it will vote for the bill.

      • Yeah I know, the only times I know of where the US government got in bed with the mob was under FDR (Mafia during WWII) Kennedy and LBJ working with the opium lords of South East Asia. Nixon got us out of that alliance but in the Mel Gibson film about the war of shadows in Laos they said it was Nixon that got us into the Opium trade. The Dems bring in the corruption, the Repubs try to clean it up and the media and Hollywood blame the Repubs for the corruption.

Where there are Dem politicians there is corruption, where there are communists/Marxists there is massive corruption. When the Government is small and weak we can live with the corruption, when the Government is large and strong the corruption is a threat to our freedom. We have let the Federal Government get too big and too strong and the corruption in DC is spreading to the small towns that the Dems control.
