Transgender Regret Is Real Even If The Media Tell You Otherwise
When Carol Costello, CNN reporter, interviewed me in June on the subject of Olympian, trans-Jenner, she couldn’t help beginning with a false narrative that only 2 percent regret of transgender have regrets. That is, the media’s propensity to fluff over the regret statistics.
Early in the interview, she made the statement, “We have researched… and we found a recent Swedish study that found only 2.2 percent of transgenders, male and female, suffered from sex change regret.”
Costello is a bright reporter. That it is why it was so puzzling she would use her interview of me to misinform her audience, unless the intent was to diminish and dismiss reports of sex change regret among the transgender population. Costello used only one study to reach a conclusion on the frequency of regret. She or her staff did not look at the wealth of other studies that suggest sex change regret is quite common. One such study commissioned by The Guardian of the UK in 2004 reviewed 100 studies and reported that a whopping 20 percent (one fifth) of transgenders regret changing genders, ten times more than CNN’s Costello reported.
The review of 100 studies also revealed that many transgenders remained severely distressed and even suicidal after the gender change operation. Suicide and regret remain the dark side of transgender life.

In addition, Giousouf will represent bpb President Thomas Krüger. This was announced by the Bundeszentrale bpb on Thursday.In 2013 Cemile Giousouf, now 40 years old, was celebrated by the media as the first Muslim member of the Bundestag of the CDU. With maximum support from CDU state chairman Armin Laschet, the Muslim from the Thrace region in Greece, which is populated by a Turkish minority, moved into the Bundestag. One of her first activities in the Bundestag was an inaugural visit to the Turkish ambassador in Berlin. Giousouf, who has dual citizenship, also maintained close contact with highly controversial Turkish mosque communities. In autumn 2014 it became known that she had received at the CDU district office in Hagen a delegation from the Islamic Community Milli Görüs (IGMG), which was considered anti-Semitic and at that time still observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
In the same year, Giousouf did her utmost and demanded that the print of a caricature depicting the Turkish despot Erdogan as a chain dog be removed from a schoolbook in the state of Baden-Württemberg. She described the caricature as “completely unacceptable”.
At the same time, pictures appeared on Facebook showing the CDU politician in traditional Islamic women’s clothing in the Hagen mosque of the umbrella organization DITIB, which is under the control of the Turkish religious authority Diyanet.
Giousouf’s appearance in November 2014 at an ATIB event in Cologne was a further highlight.
The ATIB (Ayrupa Türk ?slam Birli?i, = European Islamic-religious umbrella organisation) is by the way attributed by the Hessian Office for the Protection of the Constitution to the spectrum of Turkish right-wing extremist Grey Wolves.
Although their appearances at events of or with Grey Wolves are documented, Giousouf rejected the accusations as “conspiracy theories”.

At the turn of the year 2014/2015 the first party members resigned from the Hagen CDU because of Giousouf’s Islamic commitment. One can suspect that the already existing wrong way, namely to also promote questionable organizations, will be further promoted.”
If the management level of such an important federal institute reinterprets the term extremism in such a way that political Islam is no longer even seen as a problem, it is a catastrophe,” fears the well-known expert. “The idea of participation must not lead to the use of leadership figures whose loyalty to this community – and by the way also to the CDU – can justifiably be called into question by one’s own attitude. This is not the promotion of quality through diversity, but appears to be the result of a misguided identity policy. Identity politics without a clear edge to extremism, however, opens the door to political Islam”.

I don’t know what the speed limits in France are but unless they had a major epidemic of fatal crashes before this they won’t have many after. What the French Government has to fear is that the protesters (and everyone else) who are holding one law in contempt will learn to hold all laws in contempt.
As we see a double standard in the enforcement of all laws with protected groups being allowed to break the laws with no punishment but the ordinary people being punished for protesting the double standard we are seeing the people being taught to hold all laws and police in contempt. The law of unintended consequences is using the lefts actions to return the world to a frontier mentality where you take care of yourself and dislike the police who are trying to limit your actions. White House asked for options to strike Iran: WSJ

BOMBSHELL: State Dept. has signed off on thousands of child bride requests since 2007

The Senate Homeland Security Committee released a report revealing that thousands of requests by men to bring child or adolescent brides to live in the United States have been approved since 2007.
Obtaining a visa for a spouse or fiancé involves the approval of two federal government agencies. A petition is first made to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”). If a petition is filed by or on behalf of a minor, USCIS does not require parental or judicial consent.
Once USCIS approves a petition, the decision to actually issue a visa is made by the State Department. The State Department returns or rejects few spousal or fiancé immigrant visa petitions after they are approved by USCIS. USCIS reported to the Committee: “Between [Fiscal Year (“FY”)] FY 2007 and FY 2017, approximately 2.6 percent of fiancé and spousal petitions [were] returned to USCIS. Of that total, approximately 37 percent [were] revoked.”

Pentagon prepping to build border wall should Trump declare national emergency

The Pentagon is reportedly drawing up options to build a wall at the southern border should President Trump commit to declaring a national emergency.
The revelation is the latest in a line of moves that indicate the president is gravitating toward the option that would allow him to circumvent Congress and continue construction on the wall.
“The Department of Defense is reviewing available authorities and funding mechanisms to identify options to enable border barrier construction,” a Pentagon spokesman told USA Today. “As there has not been such a declaration made, it would be inappropriate to comment further on those efforts.”
Trump has declared his “absolute right” to make an emergency declaration and the White House has prepared legal arguments to defend the stance. He has yet to officially do so, but all signs are pointing to that eventuality.

I am old enough to remember when quotas in America were frowned upon. That was before “social justice” became a thing, and with it liberally approved attempts to see how many people belonging to a specific demographic could be stuffed into a phone booth — or in the case of the current story Congress.
While addressing a “Community Congressional Reception” hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Thursday, Rep. André Carson (D-Ind.), himself a Muslim, gleefully predicted there could be “about 30, 35 Muslims in Congress” and possibly a Muslim president or vice president by 2030.
Carson not only celebrated the election of Muslim Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib but compared their ascendency to superheroes coming “out of nowhere” to fill the shoes held by former Rep. Keith Ellison, who was selected by voters to be Minnesota’s attorney general.

(JNS) — This time six years ago, Israel completed its high-tech border fence with Egypt, marking the start of a transformation in the situation along this restive frontier.
With its network radars and cameras, the obstacle—dubbed “Hourglass” by the Israeli Defense Ministry—issues alerts to Israel Defense Forces units regarding suspicious movements.
The barrier has almost completely stopped the mass movement of illegal migration from Africa, Dr. Ofer Israeli, a geostrategist and international security policy expert told JNS on Thursday.
Israeli, who lectures at the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, said the quantity of human trafficking “is almost zero now.”

Italian fugitive Cesare Battisti arrested in Bolivia
Wanted in Italy for the killing of four people, Battisti now faces extradition to his homeland.
Cesare Battisti, a former Italian communist activist sought by Rome for four murders in the 1970s, has been arrested after an international police squad tracked him to Bolivia where he faces extradition to Brazil and then likely to Italy.
Italy has repeatedly sought the extradition of Battisti, who lived in Brazil for years under the protection of former leftist president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (2003-2010), who is now in prison for corruption.
“Italian terrorist Cesare Battisti was detained in Bolivia (Saturday night) and will be soon brought to Brazil, from where he will probably be sent to Italy to serve a life sentence,” tweeted Filipe G Martins, a senior aide on international affairs to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
During Brazil’s recent presidential campaign, the far-right Bolsonaro, who took office on January 1, vowed that if elected he would “immediately” extradite Battisti to Italy.
In mid-December Brazil’s outgoing president, Michel Temer, signed an extradition order for Battisti after a judge ordered his arrest. By then the Italian had disappeared.
Battisti, 64, was arrested late on Saturday in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Brazilian police sources told Brazilian media. Italian interior ministry sources confirmed the arrest.
“Battisti was arrested in the street, unarmed and he didn’t resist, responded to police in Portuguese and showed a Brazilian document confirming his identity,” an Italian interior ministry source said. “Now Italy is waiting for him.”
Italian state police said the arrest had been carried out by a joint team of Italian and Bolivian officers with the help of Italy’s “counterterrorism” section.
‘Little gift’
Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Salvini thanked the Italian and foreign police who captured “a delinquent who did not deserve the comfortable life on the beach, and who should spend out the rest of his days in prison”.
Bolsonaro’s legislator son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, tweeted in Italian with a picture of Battisti: “Brazil is no longer the land of bandits. Matteo Salvini, the ‘little gift’ is on its way.”
Battisti escaped from an Italian prison after being convicted in 1979 of his allegiance to an outlawed leftist group, Armed Proletarians for Communism.
He was subsequently convicted in absentia of having killed two Italian policemen, taking part in the murder of a butcher and helping plan the slaying of a jeweller who died in a shooting which left his 14-year-old son in a wheelchair.
Battisti admitted to being part of the group but refused to take responsibility for any deaths.
He reinvented himself as an author, writing a string of noir novels and in 2004 skipped bail in France, where he had taken refuge. He went to live clandestinely in Brazil until he was arrested in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro.
After years in custody, then-President Lula issued a decree – later upheld by Brazil’s Supreme Court – in 2010 refusing Battisti’s extradition to Italy, and he was freed, angering Italy.
Battisti, who has a five-year-old Brazilian son, last year told the AFP news agency that he faced “torture” and death if he were ever to be sent back to Italy.

MILAN (Reuters) – Italian former leftist guerrilla Cesare Battisti, on the run for almost four decades after escaping prison following a murder conviction, has been arrested in Bolivia and is expected to be extradited to Italy, officials said on Sunday.
“He will soon arrive in Brazil and from here will be transferred to Italy to serve a life sentence,” Filipe G. Martins, a senior aide on international affairs to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, tweeted.
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, who is also deputy prime minister, told Italian television he hoped Battisti – who lived in Brazil for years – would be back in Italy by the middle of the week.
Brazilian National Security Adviser Augusto Heleno told reporters after a meeting with Bolsonaro that Brazil had sent a plane to Bolivia to bring Battisti back. Italy said it had dispatched a plane carrying Italian police and intelligence officers to South America to collect Battisti.
Heleno said that in principle Battisti would come to Brazil first, but that “nothing has been decided exactly.”
Battisti, 64, faces life in prison in his home country, where he was convicted of four murders in the 1970s as a member of the far-left Armed Proletarians for Communism. He has denied responsibility for any deaths.
He escaped from prison in 1981 and lived in France before fleeing to Brazil to avoid extradition. Battisti, who has a five-year-old Brazilian son, lived in Brazil with the support of former left-wing President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Salvini, head of the right-wing League party which partners the 5-Star Movement in Italy’s ruling coalition, was one of the first top European politicians to endorse Bolsonaro’s election.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella expressed on Sunday his satisfaction at Battisti’s arrest. “We hope Battisti is swiftly handed over to Italian justice,” he said.
Battisti, who became a successful crime novel writer, said last year he would face torture and death were he to be sent back to Italy.
His lawyer told Reuters last month that he had filed an appeal against the Brazilian Supreme Court decision, seeking to block another attempt to extradite his client.

Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, for his part, said that he had discussed the situation in Syria and the fight against terrorism, among a number of other issues of mutual interest, with Pompeo.
“We have held an extended dialogue during the seven meetings of the conference of dialogue between Qatar and the United States and discussed all issues of mutual interest, in particular, the crisis between the Gulf countries, the Middle East [peace] process, talks on Afghanistan, the situation in Syria, and efforts aimed at combating terrorism”, Al-Thani said at a press conference after his meeting with Pompeo.

“A MOTORIST has been arrested after an 11-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run collision.
The youngster was treated by paramedics at the scene of the incident in Beswick, Manchester, but died of his injuries in hospital. A grey VW Golf believed to be involved in the collision was found abandoned a short distance away. The collision occurred on Albert Street shortly after 6.10pm on Saturday.
A 31-year-old man later attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The suspect remains in custody for questioning according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

The men fled the scene with the luxury motor, which has a registration of GX63 XWV, followed closely behind by a silver car believed to have been a Volkswagen Golf.
Mr Holden, who is co-owner of the Bs3 Barbershop, added: ‘It was terrifying. I really hope these guys are caught and soon.’
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said no arrests had yet been made.
She said: ‘Five men wearing balaclavas and holding machetes entered the rear of the property at around 4.40pm, threatened a man visiting the house and took car keys, cash and jewellery.
‘They then drove off in a BMW, which they stole from outside the property. No-one was injured and no arrests have been made.

Macron Party Demands Yellow Vest Facebook Page Be Shut Down over ‘Hate’ Messages
A local branch of French President Emmanuel Macron’s La République En Marche! (LREM) has demanded that a Facebook page belonging to the Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests) be removed due to “hate messages.”
The LREM branch in the department of Sarthe, the 72nd department in France, has demanded that Facebook remove the group “Colère 72” (Anger 72) over “hateful” messages directed toward LREM MP Marlène Schiappa, France Bleu reports.
The group, which has been active since the start of the Yellow Vest Movement in November, is currently under investigation according to an LREM press release which stated that the Le Mans public prosecutor was looking into the group over allegations of disturbing the public order.
The party added that they had collected several hateful messages posted on the group’s page including threats of violence toward Ms Schiappa who recently said she wanted to know the details of those Yellow Vest movement supporters giving money to a legal fund for boxer Christophe Dettinger who fought barehanded with riot police last week in Paris.
“The question I asked is: who finances the rioters? Foreign powers? The question is not is not incongruous, given the positions of Italian officials,” Schiappa said earlier this week.
The Colère 72 Facebook group has so far not been taken down by the social media giant despite the request from the LREM branch and boasts well over 27,000 members.
Facebook and other social media platforms have been a key tool for the Yellow Vest Movement which is largely organised online.
While the Yellow Vests have made substantial gains and forced President Macron to make concessions on issues from raising the minimum wage to fuel tax hikes, the protests are still scheduled to continue Saturday.
The movement has recently championed the idea of citizen-initiated referendums which would allow citizens to vote on laws, repeal laws, remove elected officials from office or even amend the French constitution by popular referendum.

This is insanely risky. Micron is playing a most dangerous game. Any precipitous police action that results in fatalities will fall squarely on his shoulders.
Likewise with a false flag attack by Antifa or some other Anarchists that incites deadly police overreaction, Micron loses again. The French president’s pugnacious attitude towards such open civilian recalcitrance invites round robin escalation in the worst way.
Micron also stands the most to lose from any further subversion of the Yellow Vests in general. Government infiltration will do nothing to detract from the movement’s popular support and outside destabilization has the distinct promise of creating some martyrs.

Yesterday’s criticism by Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is both welcome and justified. Such punishments belong in the dark ages.

The Mail on Sunday’s revelation that judges are giving teenagers convicted of dealing Class A drugs a ‘slap on the wrist’ rather than serious custodial sentences, has exposed a major failing – one that fuels the mayhem which is turning swathes of our country into a gangster’s paradise.
Young teenagers are being lured, then trapped, in gangs – and in some cases killed in cold blood on our streets.
It is utterly reprehensible that Singapore uses such an outdated physical punishment, yet it must be kept in mind that teenagers are not stabbed to death on the streets of Singapore.
Indeed, the city’s tough approach to crime and punishment has resulted in it being ranked as the second safest city in the world, after Tokyo.
And, in many other cities with clear attitudes to drugs policy, like Singapore, far fewer teenagers are murdered on their streets.
Other countries much closer to home, such as Sweden, show a zero tolerance approach focused on prevention and treatment, which we can learn from. And learn we must. Violent – and often drug-related – crime is back on the rise in the UK.
Much of London’s knife epidemic last year, which saw the murder rate in the capital rise to its highest level for a decade, was linked to a rise in drug gang feuds. It is estimated that gangs are responsible for as much as half of all knife crime with injury, 60 per cent of shootings, and 29 per cent of reported child sexual exploitation.
It is time that our approach to tackling violent crime changed. First, we need to sort out our policing. We must not be afraid to use ‘stop and search’ – however much controversy surrounds it.
It is true that concerns about racism are often quoted to discredit stop and search based on flawed and inflated statistics. But what should be of far greater concern to its critics is that young people aged 15–24 who are non-white are on average six times more likely to be fatally shot or stabbed than young people of the same age who were white. These are devastating statistics.
Combined with intelligence-led, community-focused policing, stop and search is a powerful weapon in fighting the scourge of knife crime. And communities want it. Polling of Londoners by the Centre for Social Justice last summer found support for the power at over 90 per cent, holding at more than two thirds even in non-white communities.
But stop and search is not enough by itself. Our criminal justice system is one of the oldest and best in the world but it does not mean that we cannot improve significantly in the way that we deal with criminals.
While there should be little appetite to imitate the barbaric sentence in Singapore, we also know that many of the cautions and fines meted out for minor drug offences here do not help.
We must do more to reform what is often an ineffectual waste of time for courts, police, and offenders.
One such idea, currently being investigated by the Centre for Social Justice – which I helped set up – is a practice used in Sweden; where the offender is given the choice of taking the criminal route or the rehabilitation route.
For example, the use of a drug awareness course, akin to a speed awareness course. Those found with small amounts of cannabis would have to pay to spend time at an addiction treatment centre. It would give them a horrifying glimpse into the potential consequences of their actions. Vitally, we must get kids out of the clutches of gangs and into schools.
Lastly, and most importantly, we must go right back to the root cause of much of this problem and grasp the nettle on a most thorny issue: family breakdown.
For some reason, my colleagues in Parliament and the thinkers of Westminster are afraid to broach the issue of which Britain is world leading. Well, normal people aren’t.
The scourge of fatherlessness underpins swathes of violent crime, as young men seek identity and belonging from gangs when they find none at home.
And then, of course, we must amend sentencing policy, so that our courts take the matter seriously.
We cannot continue with a situation where the police do their best to take criminals off our streets and yet are let down by the justice system handing out slaps on the wrist to serious offenders.
Until our courts start giving out sentences that reflect the severity of the crime committed, more young blood will continue to be spilt on our streets.

Live ammunition 30 cartridge magazines could be seen as officers marched the streets, although none were used as 5000 police were deployed on the streets of the French capital.
Yellow Vest protestor Gilles Caron said: ‘The CRS with the guns were wearing riot control helmets and body armour – they were not a specialised firearms unit.
‘Their job was simply to threaten us with lethal weapons in a manner which is very troubling. We deserve some explanations.’
The CRS are known for their tough approach to policing, frequently using distinctively wide-barrelled guns to fire flash-ball projectiles and tear gas canisters.
But until now, the guns used have mainly been associated with specialist military units, as well as the elite GIPN police intervention squads, and the BAC anti-criminal brigade.
A French National Police spokesman confirmed that the CRS were equipped with H&K G36s on Saturday, but would not discuss their operational use ‘for security reasons’.

He and his family at first set out from Iran to claim asylum in Europe, only to be caught on the Turkish border and deported.
Mehdi, a 25-year-old, said rising prices devoured wages from his factory job in Damavand 50 miles east of Tehran.
“During the last year or so, we could just earn enough to spend on food. It was impossible to save money. If you don’t work one day in Iran, you will be hungry that day and have nothing to eat. Compared to last year, prices have tripled.”

Five Lessons the U.S. Can Learn from Europe About Stopping Child Marriages (breitbart, Jan 13, 2019)

“While the issue of child marriages has come to prominence in Europe since the 2015 migrant crisis, it has recently made headlines in the U.S. after the Associated Press uncovered more than 8,000 cases of the American immigration system being used to attempt to facilitate marriages between adults and children.
The Associated Press published findings Friday that suggested both the U.S.’s immigration system and marriage laws are enabling child marriages and the resulting sexual abuse of migrant minors in the country.
According to ten years of data compiled by the Senate Homeland Security Committee in 2017 requested by the wire service, 5,556 adults petitioned for minor spouses, in one case a 49-year-old man sought to bring in a 15-year-old girl.
Nearly 3,000 — 2,926 minors — petitioned for adult spouses while 204 minors petitioned for minors.
The country where most requests came from was Mexico, followed by Pakistan, Jordan, the Dominican Republic, and Yemen with Middle Easterners having the highest percentage of approved petitions.
“Separately, the data show some 4,749 minor spouses or fiancees received green cards to live in the U.S. over that same 10-year period,” the report continued.
On the legality of the underage marriages, the AP writes:
The approvals are legal: The Immigration and Nationality Act does not set minimum age requirements. And in weighing petitions for spouses or fiancees, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services goes by whether the marriage is legal in the home country and then whether the marriage would be legal in the state where the petitioner lives.
Similar systems operate in Europe, where the guidance in some countries is whether the marriage is legal in the migrants’ home country.
In overview, Europe appears to be failing to protect the children in its care, and in the following five points could the U.S. learn how to avoid the pitfalls that resulted in the continent’s failures to stop child migrant marriages.
1. Mass Migration and Refugee Programmes: Opening the Door to Cultures that Accept Child Marriages
After German Chancellor Angela Merkel suspended the European Union’s refugee and asylum rules and opened the gates to more than one million migrants, mostly from the Middle East, reports began to emerge of very young teen girls being accompanied by men described as their ‘husbands.’
In early 2016, asylum centres in Norway were reporting dozens of cases of child brides from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, some as young as 11, with Sweden, which took in the highest number of migrants per capita, also found to be tolerating the arrangement.
By August 2016, Germany, which took in the highest number of migrants, was reporting a sharp rise in child marriages after a number of young girls of migrant or refugee background were noted to have disappeared from school. Just one month later, Berlin reported 100 children married to much older men, with government officials expecting that number to rise with the increase of migrants entering the country.
2. Activists May Use Marriage or ‘Human Rights’ Law to Undermine Child Protection
The battle to protect the rights of the child began to be undermined early on during the migrant crisis after media was reporting in 2016 that asylum seeker girls as young as 14 were being removed from foster care in Denmark and returned to their adult husbands on grounds that to separate them deprived the couples of their fundamental right to family life, as guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
That summer, a German regional court recognised as valid a sharia marriage between a 14-year-old Syrian girl and her 21-year-old cousin, despite the legal age of marriage in Germany being 16 at the time.
The ruling came about as a result of the fact that Germany recognises marriages conducted legally overseas, with the wedding in question conducted according to Sunni Islamic law before the couple arrived in Europe. The girl was returned to her husband, who was granted legal guardianship.
Germany then attempted to annul and ban all child marriages and raised the marriage age to 18 in 2017. However, a review of the aforementioned case could see that child protection law struck down as unconstitutional.
The Federal Supreme Court ruled that the marriage should be examined on the basis of its legal status in Syria, and that rather than a blanket ban of recognising child marriages, and each union in the future should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Germany’s Basic Law enshrines protection of marriage and family as well as the principle of equal treatment — both of which could be violated under the ban on child marriages.
Sweden had also succeeded in making child, and polygynous, marriages illegal — but not before facing opposition from the ruling Social Democrat party, the Greens, and the Left party which sought exemptions to the law in certain circumstances.
The leftists had said that it cannot be “ruled out” that child marriage must be tolerated in “exceptional cases” in Sweden whereby “situations may arise in which a child marriage entered into abroad should be recognised so that Sweden can live up to its international commitments.
“EU citizens’ right to free movement… could possibly be relevant in this context,” they added.
3. Political Correctness Failing to Prevent Child Marriage Being Culturally Embedded into Parallel Societies
The problem of child marriages is not restricted to recently arrived asylum seekers. European citizens of Muslim migrant heritage continue to be abused by the rules of a parallel society as Western societies fail to challenge, culturally or legally, the practice.
The British government’s Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) identified more than 8,000 cases since 2010 and logged nearly 1,200 forced marriages in 2017 alone, with the organisation saying that number “may not reflect the full scale of the abuse.”
Where immigration abuses also come into play is when the girls are sent abroad to be married and remain in their heritage country until they were pregnant before returning home.
The young British women would then be forced to petition for their ‘husbands’ to obtain a visa and being both married and pregnant, the applications would have a higher likelihood of being granted.
The Times exposed in August 2018 that the Home Office was examining 175 inquiries from abuse victims trying to block spouses’ visas. The report details that some girls under the age of 18 were beaten and raped by their husbands, and then further abused by their families on their return to UK if they refused to sign the visa applications.
The same series of reports found that a former Labour party local councillor and immigration lawyer had advised an undercover reporter that there was nothing wrong in forcing a 15-year-old British-Muslim girl to marry in Pakistan against her will.
Jasvinder Sanghera, founder of forced marriage charity Karma Nirvana, said that the organisation receives almost 13,000 calls a year to its helpline and criticised the government for failing to act to protect young women and girls because of political correctness.
“We’re seeing this nationally. Even when officials know it’s a forced marriage, they see tradition, culture or religion and they’re reticent to deal with it. They are turning a blind eye,” Ms Sanghera said.
4. Cultural Leaders Giving Credence to Child Marriages
Like with female genital mutilation (FGM), the abuse of child marriage may find strong support from Islamic and other community leaders.
Where mass migration and a failure of host nations to present a strong, Western culture has left a void for parallel societies to develop, the opinions of such cultural leaders are prioritised over the laws and cultural norms of Britain, Germany, Sweden, or the United States.
During the migrant crisis, Danish imam Oussama El-Saadi said that child brides must be accepted and respected as it is a “different culture, and we can not destroy family life.”
When senior representatives of whole nations approve of child marriages, that could affect the attitudes of its diaspora in Western nations, as well.
Turkey sparked outrage in 2018 after the country’s religious affairs state agency said girls as young as nine could marry under Islamic law.
5. Laws Are Not Enough — They Have to Be Thoroughly Enforced
There are laws in place to prevent forced marriage in many countries in Europe and the Anglosphere. In recent cases, Syrian parents of a 13-year-old girl were convicted in a Swedish court of attempting to arrange her marriage to an older man. In Australia, a Muslim cleric was convicted for marrying a 14-year-old girl of Bosnian heritage to a man 20 years her senior.
In 2017, Breitbart London reported that just one in 30 cases of forced marriage are leading to a prosecution, with only two convictions, against parents, made in 2018 — both of which were against girls who had just turned 18.
Figures from August 2017 showed calls to help centres from children fearing forced marriage was at a record high, with some of the victims as young as 13. The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) said that many children fear violence or community ostracism if they speak out, or refuse to marry.
These handful of convictions are a drop in the ocean, given the thousands of reported cases of suspected child marriages and the thousands more that are not reported.”

Italian authorities initially jailed him on a conviction for robbery but were finally able to expel him to Tunisia this week, Il Giornale reports.
While in a prison in Padua, the Tunisian is said to have become a leader among the radical Muslims with an officer from the Central Investigation Unit of the Penitentiary Police (NIC) saying, “He had never had a quiet attitude, he was controversial and arrogant with the agents, he had begun to intensify his religious practice so much that he became a charismatic leader for other Muslim prisoners.”
“The Friday prayer ceremony was held in his cell and he dressed in the typical tunic of an imam,” they added.
The officer also explained that Jebali had made threats against prison officers telling them, “Sooner or later you will all die, we will go into your houses and kill you and eat your corpses.”
“We began to keep an eye on him after he threatened an officer,” the NIC officer said and noted that the Tunisian had also liked a video on Facebook celebrating the death of Christians. Following the investigation against the 31-year-old, they established he could pose a terror threat and could deport him.
Jebadi joins a long list of deported radical Islamists deported from Italy under Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, who has set the record for the most radicals deported from a European Union member state in 2018, with the country deporting around ten radicals per month.”

Ramush Haradinaj showed in his Facebook page pictures of meetings at their homes with Sami Lushtaku and Rrustem Mustafa who are to be questioned next week by The Hague-based Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.
The Kosovo Specialist Chambers was created in 2015 to investigate allegations that some fighters for independence committed war crimes during and after the war.
Lushtaku ironically told journalists at the airport he would “feel bad” if not summoned by the court.
“Yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever I have and will defend the truth, the fair and clean war of the Kosovo Liberation Army!” Lushtaku wrote in his Facebook page.
“I am going there to be interviewed. Normally I am a suspected witness,” Mustafa, nicknamed Remi, told journalists. “We are innocent.”
Both also said they were contacted by President Hashim Thaci, who is also a former fighter.
Their lawyer Arianit Koci told journalists Mustafa would be interviewed on Monday while Lushtaku two days later Jan. 16.
Haradinaj, a former independence fighter himself who was twice acquitted of war crimes and crimes against humanity by a United Nations court, said Kosovo’s war for independence was “clean and sacred.”
“Together we shall come out spotless from this challenge,” he wrote in his Facebook page.
The court was set up following U.S. and EU pressure four years after a 2011 report by the Council of Europe, the continent’s top human rights body, which catalogued allegations of widespread crimes committed by members of the Kosovo independence fighters.
Kosovo’s 2008 independence is not recognized by Serbia.”

“Massive anti-India protests and clashes erupted in disputed Kashmir on Sunday, leading to injuries to at least 16 people after a gunbattle between militants and government forces overnight killed two rebels, police and residents said.
The clashes erupted after government forces in the southern Shopian area tried to stop mourners from attending the funeral of one of India’s most wanted rebels in the Himalayan region, police said.
Rebel commander Zeenatul Islam was killed along with his associate late Saturday in a gunbattle with Indian troops.
Government forces fired bullets, shotgun pellets and tear gas to stop the mourners, leading to street clashes as groups of youths pelted stones at the troops, police and residents said.
Later, authorities withdrew security deployments amid massive anti-India protests and clashes at several places in the area. At least 16 people were injured in the clashes.
India and Pakistan each claim the divided territory of Kashmir in its entirety. Rebels have been fighting Indian control since 1989.
Most Kashmiris support the rebel cause that the territory be united either under Pakistani rule or as an independent country while also participating in civilian street protests against Indian control.
Nearly 70,000 people have been killed in the uprising and the ensuing Indian crackdown.”
