  2. Official: Iran to start constructing Iran- Iraq railway line (memo, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20181113-official-iran-to-start-constructing-iran-iraq-railway-line/

“Deputy head of Iran Railways company, Mazyar Yazdani said Monday that President, Hassan Rouhani has ordered to start constructing the railway line from the Iranian port of Shalamcheh to the city of Basra in Iraq.

Yazdani explained that the Shalamcheh-Basra railway line will be 32 kilometres long and will cost 2200 billion riyals, Iranian Fars news agency reported.

According to the Iranian official, Tehran will construct the railway line in Iran and Iraq and give it as a gift to Iraq but the Iraqi side has to cover the construction expenses later.

According to Yazdani after the project is completed, there will be a rail line between Iran, Iraq and Syria that extends to the port of Latakia on the Mediterranean Sea.

Iran has been trying to counter the repercussions of the sanctions imposed by the United States on Monday by relying on its regional network of relations, especially in Iraq and Syria.”

  3. Most Pakistanis don’t know what internet is: Survey (gulfnews, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://gulfnews.com/world/asia/pakistan/most-pakistanis-dont-know-what-internet-is-survey-1.1542084432072

“Islamabad: Around 69 per cent Pakistanis between the ages of 15 and 65 do not know what the internet is, an information communication technology (ICT)-based survey has revealed.

The survey was conducted by LirneAsia, a think-tank based in Sri Lanka that carries out ICT research, Dawn news reported on Monday.

The report is based on a survey of 2,000 households in Pakistan.

LirneAsia claims that the sampling methodology was designed to ensure representation of 98 per cent target population aged 15 to 65 at a national level.

The study points out that lack of internet awareness is a considerable problem across Asian countries, including Pakistan, where just 30 per cent of the population in the age group of 15-65 is aware of the internet (they were asked if they use the ‘internet’ without explaining what it is).
    – Survey
Conducted between October-December 2017, this demand side survey helps understand how users use or do not use ICT services.

“The 152 million active cellular subscribers mentioned on Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) website, despite a good SIM registration system, tell nothing about the subscribers — whether they are men and women, rich or poor and does not really help understand access and usage gaps,” LinreAsia CEO Helani Galpaya said in the report.

The study points out that lack of internet awareness is a considerable problem across Asian countries, including Pakistan, where just 30 per cent of the population in the age group of 15-65 is aware of the internet (they were asked if they use the ‘internet’ without explaining what it is).

Some 17 per cent claimed that they used it. Among non-users, the key reason for not using the internet was lack of awareness about it.

Among internet users, the urban-rural gap in Pakistan was relatively small – 13 per cent – in fact the lowest seen in the Asian survey countries.

Pakistani women were 43 per cent less likely to use the internet than men, though this was smaller than the Indian internet gender gap which was 57 per cent, and 62 per cent in Bangladesh.

The report particularly sheds light on the “pretty” low (22 per cent) users of smart mobile phones together with the 25 per cent who have feature phones with internet capability.

“The rest of the 53 per cent have no internet capability on their phones. It is time to get smart phones into the hands of the people and basic phones out,” Galpaya added.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) did not react to the findings of the report that contradict its claims of maximum tele-densitiy in the country.

PTA maintained that the survey by the private organisation presented a dismal picture of the tele-density in Pakistan.”

  4. Govt approves Rs17b bailout package to keep PIA afloat (tribune, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1845954/2-govt-approves-rs17b-bailout-package-keep-pia-afloat/

“The government on Monday approved a Rs17-billion bailout package for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to keep the national flag carrier in the skies for the next two months amid a phenomenal increase in its losses that shot up to Rs360 billion.

It is the first bailout package approved by the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also the minister in charge of the Aviation Division. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umar, approved the Rs17.02-billion ‘dose of oxygen’ – the second in last six months.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government followed in the footsteps of the last Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government that had kept PIA afloat for five years by providing such bailouts.

The money will be borrowed from commercial banks on the back of sovereign guarantees of the finance ministry. In order to facilitate the borrowing, the ECC extended the guarantee limit to Rs212 billion, said officials in the Ministry of Finance…”

  5. Daesh kidnaps, executes 2 in Iraq (AA, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/daesh-kidnaps-executes-2-in-iraq/1309607

“Daesh terrorists executed a civilian and a member of the Iraqi security forces in this northern province, local police said on Tuesday.

The victims were kidnapped from villages in the south of the province, with the civilian allegedly providing Iraqi authorities with intelligence on the region, according to a police spokesman. The security officer was executed by gunfire.

Last year, officials in Baghdad declared Daesh’s military presence in Iraq all but dismantled because of operations backed by the U.S.-led International alliance.

From time to time, however, Iraqi officials announce operations against Daesh-affiliated “sleeper cells” in certain parts of the country.”

  6. Lebanon-linked gang accused of laundering millions of euros in Germany (DW, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.dw.com/en/lebanon-linked-gang-accused-of-laundering-millions-of-euros-in-germany/a-46267251

“The group is said to have laundered drug money for South American cartels for years — above all in Germany. With the defendants facing trial today in Paris, German reporters unveil how they were able to pull it off.

The German-Belgian border in late July 2015: It was shortly after noon when the police pulled over a Mercedes C-Class with a Bremen license plate near the western city of Aachen that had just entered Germany from Belgium.

Behind the wheel sat a young man who, like the other passenger in the car, was born in Lebanon and lived in a town near the northern German city of Bremen. The two told officers they had gone to Belgium to do some shopping. During a search of the vehicle, however, the officers found €489,000 ($548,500) in cash, broken down in small denominations and stashed between layers of underwear in gym bags.

Further investigations by customs agents in Essen revealed that the bags contained traces of cocaine. Without knowing it, investigators had stumbled across two members of a group that moved luxury watches, jewelry and cars worth tens of millions of euros between Europe, West Africa, and the Middle East.

The investigative reporting teams from German public broadcasters NDR and WDR and the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) newspaper were given access to hundreds of pages of case files, giving a rare insight into what investigators believe is a global cocaine and money laundering network.

    A network in western Europe

In February 2015, agents with the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) successfully intercepted telephone conversations between suspected members of a Colombian drug cartel in which they talked about transferring drug profits to South America.

This information sparked an extensive investigation in France, which led to hundreds of telephone calls being tapped and numerous covert surveillance measures being carried out. Investigators quickly identified an informal network spanning across all of western Europe, with branches in the Middle East, Africa and South America.

A total of 14 people have now been charged and stand accused of working together to launder tens of millions of euros from drug deals.

Nearly all of them are Lebanese citizens or have family roots in Lebanon. Investigators dubbed the case “Cedar,” after the tree in the coat of arms on the Lebanese flag. According to the case files, investigators believe that the network was active in Europe but was controlled out of Lebanon.

At the height of the group’s operations, they reportedly laundered €1 million per week — also in Germany. It is unclear to what extent these accusations will stand up in court.

From Lebanon back to South America

The investigation culminated in a massive operation in January 2016, in which police searched homes in six countries, arrested suspects and seized more than €800,000 in cash. Four suspects were arrested in Germany, where police searched apartments in Düsseldorf, Münster and around Bremen.

The group functioned hierarchically. Some of the members, like the ones who were detained on the border near Aachen, collected cash from drug sales in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy and France.

They were supposed to then give the money to other members of the group who used it to buy jewelry, luxury watches and expensive cars — which were then take to Lebanon to be sold. According to investigators, the proceeds from those sales then flowed directly from Lebanon to the cartels in South America that had delivered the cocaine to Europe.

Authorities also probed whether the perpetrators could have been acting on the behalf of Hezbollah. The indictment, however, does not include any accusations of funding terrorism, due to a lack of evidence.

Suspect denies knowledge of drug trafficking

Germany is believed to have been the hub of the group’s illegal business. Two defendants in the case lived in Münster and Düsseldorf, while two others lived near Bremen.

The probe could also have unpleasant consequences for four German jewelers who are now being investigated on charges of involvement in money laundering.

“The investigations have shown that from 2011 to 2015, these jewelers likely collected over €20 million from the people involved. Each delivered cash and each delivered it in plastic bags,” explained a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office in Aachen.

One of the main suspects in the case is Ali Z. from Münster. In an interview with NDR, WDR and SZ, he stated that he was innocent, saying that his flourishing, legal export business had been exploited by the others accused in the case.

He has claimed that he didn’t know anything about drug money and said he assumed the money had been obtained legally. Ali Z. added that to this day, he still does not understand the basis on which prosecutors have made their accusations.

He rejected the accusation that the group supports Hezbollah, saying that French investigators were politically influenced by their US colleagues without there being any evidence for this connection. Other defendants did not wish to comment on the trial.

Thousands of money laundering cases in Germany

Experts believe that the suspects did not go on their extravagant shopping trips in Germany by chance. In comparison to its European neighbors, Germany lags behind in the fight against money laundering.

“It is completely acceptable for someone to pay for luxury items or even real estate in cash,” said Sven Giegold, a German member of the European Parliament and the Greens’ spokesperson for economic and financial policy. Although numerous business owners are obligated under the Money Laundering Act to report suspicious payments, it only rarely happens.

Germany’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), which is responsible for such cases, logged some 60,000 money laundering reports last year — out of which, only 216 were from jewelers, car dealers or other retailers. An FIU spokesperson said that the problems were being taken seriously. In the coming year, they plan to specifically approach retailers in order to raise their awareness. The FIU also wants to improve cooperation with supervisory authorities.

The trial in Paris is scheduled to run until the end of November.”

  8. After 17 years, many Afghans blame US for unending war (abcnews, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/17-years-afghans-blame-us-unending-war-59155748

“When U.S. forces and their Afghan allies rode into Kabul in November 2001 they were greeted as liberators. But after 17 years of war, the Taliban have retaken half the country, security is worse than it’s ever been, and many Afghans place the blame squarely on the Americans.

The United States has lost more than 2,400 soldiers in its longest war, and has spent more than $900 billion on everything from military operations to the construction of roads, bridges and power plants. Three U.S. presidents have pledged to bring peace to Afghanistan, either by adding or withdrawing troops, by engaging the Taliban or shunning them. Last year, the U.S. dropped the “mother of all bombs” on a cave complex.

None of it has worked. After years of frustration, Afghanistan is rife with conspiracy theories, including the idea that Americans didn’t stumble into a forever war, but planned one all along.

Mohammed Ismail Qasimyar, a member of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council, wonders how U.S. and NATO forces — which at their peak numbered 150,000 and fought alongside hundreds of thousands of Afghan troops, were unable to vanquish tens of thousands of Taliban.

“Either they did not want to or they could not do it,” he said. He now suspects the U.S. and its ally Pakistan deliberately sowed chaos in Afghanistan to justify the lingering presence of foreign forces — now numbering around 15,000 — in order to use the country as a listening post to monitor Iran, Russia and China.

“They have made a hell, not a paradise for us,” he said.

Afghanistan is rife with such conspiracy theories. After last month’s assassination of Kandahar’s powerful police chief, Gen. Abdul Raziq, social media exploded with pictures and posts suggesting he was the victim of a U.S. conspiracy. Recent insider attacks, in which Afghan forces have killed their erstwhile U.S. and NATO allies, have attracted online praise.

“In 2001 the Afghan people supported the arrival of the United States and the international community wholeheartedly,” said Hamid Karzai, who was installed as Afghanistan’s first president and twice won re-election, serving until 2014.

“For a number of years things worked perfectly well,” he said in a recent interview. “Then we saw the United States either changed course or simply neglected the views of the Afghan people and the conditions of the Afghans.”

He blames the lingering war on the U.S. failure to eliminate militant sanctuaries in neighboring Pakistan, the bombing of Afghan villages and homes, and the detention of Afghans in raids.

Others blame the notoriously corrupt government, which Karzai headed for more than a decade, and which is widely seen as yet another bitter fruit of the American invasion.

“All the money that has come to this country has gone to the people in power. The poor people didn’t get anything,” said Hajji Akram, a day laborer in Kabul’s Old City who struggles to feed his family on around $4 a day. “The foreigners are not making things better. They should go.”

It’s not just Afghans. The United States’ own inspector general for Afghanistan’s reconstruction offered a blistering critique in a speech in Ohio earlier this month.

John Sopko pointed out that the U.S. has spent $132 billion on Afghanistan’s reconstruction — more than was spent on Western Europe after World War II. Another $750 billion has been spent on U.S. military operations, and Washington has pledged $4 billion a year for Afghanistan’s security forces.

    The result?

“Even after 17 years of U.S. and coalition effort and financial largesse, Afghanistan remains one of the poorest, least educated, and most corrupt countries in the world,” Sopko said. “It is also one of the most violent.”

Hamidullah Nasrat sells imported fabrics in the capital’s main bazaar on the banks of the Kabul River, a fetid trickle running through a garbage-filled trench. He remembers welcoming the overthrow of the Taliban, who had shut down his photography studio because it was deemed un-Islamic.

“After the Taliban we were expecting something good, but instead, day by day, it is getting worse,” he said. “How is it that a superpower like the United States cannot stop the Taliban? It is a question every Afghan is asking.”

The U.S. and NATO formally concluded their combat mission in 2014. Since then, the Taliban have carried out near-daily attacks on rural checkpoints and staged coordinated assaults on major cities. Authorities stopped publishing casualty figures earlier this year, deeming them classified. An Islamic State affiliate has meanwhile carried out massive bombings against the country’s Shiite minority.

Afghans who have recently served on the front lines complain of faulty equipment, inadequate supplies and reinforcements that show up late and ill-equipped, if at all.

Tameem Darvesh served in the Afghan army for nearly five years in the southern Helmand province. This year he went on holiday and never returned, trading his $180 monthly salary for work as a day laborer making much less. He said morale is at an all-time low, with many soldiers expressing sympathy for the Taliban.

Jawad Mohammadi served for more than seven years in the security forces until 2015, when he stepped on a land-mine he was tasked to clear and lost both his legs. He was just 25 years old.

He recalls how the foreign instructors told him to always check his mine detector by waving it over a piece of metal before heading out into the field. But whenever a device failed to respond, his Afghan commander would tell him to use it anyway.

“I was told that’s all we have. That’s what we were given, you just have to use it,” he said.

The next time he went out with a faulty device, his foot found a bomb the detector had missed.

“I felt myself being thrown through the air. I looked and I saw my legs were near me and there was so much blood. I yelled: ‘Please help me.'””

  10. Swedish Media Hush Up Migrants’ Domination in Study on Islamist Extremism, Crime (sputniknews, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201811131069759638-sweden-migrants-extremism-crime/

“In categories like “mafia” and “Islamist extremism,” only 6 percent and 1.9 percent of the individuals were born in Sweden and had both parents born in the same country, a report that identified 15,000 people belonging to criminal or extremist milieus found. By contrast, Swedish media chose to trump up the “rise of the far-right narrative.”

A new comprehensive report on organised crime and extremism by the Institute for Future Studies has highlighted an overrepresentation of people with roots in other countries than Sweden in a number of overlapping categories.

The Institute for Future Studies described violent extremism and organised crime as the foremost threats to a democratic society and stressed that they have had a major influence on Sweden’s crime-fighting policy in recent decades, prompting authorities and the scientific community to do more research.

In total, the report identified about 15,000 people as belonging to criminal networks, extremist milieus or other groups with a “destructive and antisocial purpose.” Motorcycle gangs turned out to be the largest category, numbering 5,693 people, followed by 5,094 people belonging to organized crime groups. While Islamic extremists only numbered 785 adherents (which is fewer than the number of people engaged in so-called football “firms”), the report highlighted a large overlap between various groups.

“For instance, we see that the Islamist environment strongly overlaps with organised crime,” sociologist Amir Rostami, a postdoctoral researcher at Stockholm University and one of the authors of the study, told Swedish Radio.

Admittedly, the research team was also astonished by the extent of the criminal networks.

“The criminal environment proved significantly larger than previously reported. Even the authorities, with which we collaborated over the project, had no idea that it would turn out to be this extensive,” Rostami told national broadcaster SVT.

The average person featured in the report is thus a 19-year-old male. A total of 62 percent of the people surveyed have roots in other countries. The percentage of Swedish-born individuals with both parents born in the Scandinavian country varies, from 78.5 percent in the white power environment to 6 percent in the “mafia” category, down to merely 1.9 percent in the Islamic environment. Almost half of the individuals surveyed have a psychiatric diagnosis.

The Swedish mainstream media, such as national broadcaster SVT, chose to instead stress the fact that the majority of the people surveyed were born in Sweden, placing the emphasis on an “onslaught of the white power groups” and “far-right extremism,” prompting strong reactions from the Swedish public.

“*62% of managers are men* — This has terrible consequences in the form of bad role models, affects women extremely negatively, crushes future dreams, establishes male norms. Dismantle the patriarchate! *62% of organised criminals have foreign backgrounds* — Totally uninteresting. Why even measure it?” Moderate MP Hanif Bali tweeted sarcastically, taking a jab at the left-wing slant in Swedish media.

“193 left-wing extremists throughout entire Sweden? Swedish Radio and SVT alone have more than 4,000 employees,” the news outlet Fria Tider tweeted wryly.

According to Statistics Sweden, about a quarter of the Swedish population have foreign background.”

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/13/stretched-uk-border-force-resourced-fail-unable-stop-illegal/

“Britain’s borders have been left open to illegal immigrants because of chronic staff shortages at ports, the chief inspector of borders and immigration has revealed.

David Bolt was told by Border Force officers it was “resourced to fail” with borders “not secured by any stretch of the imagination” due to the shortages at Dover, Portsmouth, Southampton and Poole.

Officers at Portsmouth and Poole told his team of inspectors that they were “not remotely confident” they were preventing attempts by illegal immigrants to sneak into Britain…”

“France’s Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire has called for Europe to become an “empire” to compete with the United States after the country’s President Emmanuel Macron called for an EU army to defend against the NATO ally…

Mr Le Maire also said that France would continue to trade with Iran in defiance of fresh U.S. sanctions imposed last week, saying that the European Union should “tell the U.S. clearly: we are a sovereign continent.”…”

  13. Swedish Employment Agency Under Fire For ‘Misleading’ Migrant Jobs Report (breitbart, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/13/swedish-employment-agency-under-fire-for-misleading-migrant-jobs-report/

“The Swedish Employment Service is facing heavy criticism over a new optimistic report on the employment of new migrants, with critics pointing out that the only growth has been in jobs heavily subsidized by the government.

The new report claimed a large surge in newly arrived migrants enrolling in studies or finding employment, up from 32 percent in 2017 to 44 percent this year but critics have slammed the report as all of the growth is tied to government-funded programmes rather than private enterprise, SVT reports.

Anna Dahlberg, political editor of Swedish newspaper Expressen criticised the report saying, “To call it a big success is directly misleading,” and added that while it was clear that the Swedish Employment Service had a difficult task given the educational and skill level of some migrants, as well as their knowledge of Swedish, the report should not try to paint a better picture of the actual situation.

The figures for migrants finding work without government aid remain small with only 4 percent in some form of study and 7 percent gaining employment, unchanged from the previous year.

Director General of the Employment Service Mikael Sjöberg defended the report saying, “One must be able to see that the results of the establishment program are getting better, but at the same time we face major challenges. But it is important to be aware that things are going well.”

The unemployment rate of native Swedes compared to migrants has differed greatly for years, with Swedes having a much lower rate of unemployment. According to a report from last year, the unemployment rate for Swedes stood at a mere 3.9 percent compared to the 21.8 percent rate for migrant arrivals.

Earlier this year it was revealed that overall unemployment had declined across the country but the gap between native Swedes and migrants still remained high with migrant unemployment at 19.9 percent.

The unemployment situation has also been clearly seen in the heavily migrant populated city of Malmö where the unemployment rate was double the national average, according to a report from August.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/woman-killed-car-carrying-migrants-greece-crashes-59157383

“Police say a woman died and another nine people injured when a car full of migrants who had illegally entered Greece crashed on a northern road.

The accident occurred some 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Thessaloniki Tuesday, shortly after the car, into which nine passengers had been squashed, drove through a police roadblock without stopping.

The 18-year-old Syrian driver, who was hospitalized under police guard, is suspected of belonging to a smuggling gang that had organized the nine migrants’ transfer from near the Turkish border.

The nationalities and identities of the nine passengers were not immediately known.

Thousands of migrants enter Greece illegally from Turkey every year. Many of those crossing the land borders pay smugglers to be driven to Thessaloniki. Fatal accidents are common.”

“German authorities say a Turkish man has been extradited from France on charges of supporting a banned Kurdish organization.

Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that Ozkan T., a 31-year-old whose last name wasn’t given in line with privacy laws, was extradited Monday. He was arrested in July in France on a European warrant issued by Germany accusing him of supporting a terrorist organization.

He’s accused of working with four others, all arrested in Germany in June, to kidnap a former member of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, to convince him to work for it again. They’re alleged to have abused the man before releasing him.

The PKK, which wants greater autonomy for Kurds living in Turkey, is considered a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.”

  16. Anti-Muslim activist Tommy Robinson denied US visa (thenational, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.thenational.ae/world/europe/anti-muslim-activist-tommy-robinson-denied-us-visa-1.791399

“British far-right activist Tommy Robinson has failed to get a US visa in time for a fundraising tour of the country.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, had been due to meet Republican congressmen in Washington as well as the Philadelphia-based Middle East Forum (MEF).

British politicians said that the former leader of the anti-Muslim English Defence League could make up to £1 million (Dh4.7 million) through speaking appearances.

Robinson was jailed in the UK in 2013 for using someone else’s passport to travel to the US. He has also served time in prison for assault and mortgage fraud and has been convicted of drug offences.

The 35-year-old is currently on bail after being charged with contempt of court by British authorities earlier this year in a highly publicised case which gained him supporters in US far-right circles.

MEF president David Pipes, who invited Robinson to the US, said it would “take a while” for the campaigner to obtain a visa.

Robinson will still appear via video link at a panel discussion hosted by the MEF on Wednesday with former editor-in-chief for Breitbart London Raheem Kassam, Canadian activist Ezra Levant and Anne Marie Waters, leader of the far-right For Britain party.

The topic of discussion is “de-platforming”. Paypal recently blocked Robinson from using their service. Robinson said the reason for his ban had was because he did not fit within the company’s user guidelines and that followers could “support” him using Bitcoin instead.

An ex-assistant for Robinson said he had been received almost £2 million in donations after his jailing and appeal case this year.

The father-of-three also has plans to visit Australia next month as part of a five-city speaking tour. Tickets for the event, in which Robinson is joined by Vice co-founder Gavin McInnes, are priced up to $995.

Last week, dozens of British politicians from major political parties signed a joint letter to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to urge him not to allow Robinson into the country.

The MPs said Robinson was using the trip to “promote his violent and extremist agenda” and would use any funds garnered to “disruptive demonstrations in communities in the UK”.

The State Department said it does not discuss individual visa cases in accordance with US law.

  17. Mad Maxine tells Trump to ‘keep his mouth shut’ over California fires

Rep. Maxine Waters, who has criticized President Donald Trump and Republicans for their “rhetoric,” has been cranking up her tone since Democrats won the U.S. House of Representatives last week.

During an interview on Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” the California Democrat claimed that the Republican Party fears “strong, black” women like her. She also said she wishes Trump would “keep his mouth shut” about the issues plaguing her home state.

    http://www.theamericanmirror.com/mad-maxine-tells-trump-to-keep-his-mouth-shut-over-california-fires/

    • Babs listen to this woman, she is one of the Dem leaders who will constantly be in the news, every time Waters, Pelosi and the other radicals in the Dems give a speech or try and take rights from us they are driving people to the Repubs. The will be so bad the Propaganda Media can’t cover for them, it was the Propaganda Media not reporting the facts that let the Dems take the House, they aren’t going to be able to lie enough in the next 2 years for the Dems to keep the house.

    • Richard: The Dems arrogance knows no bounds, they know that historically gun control costs them at the ballot boxes, for this reason they kept their mouths shut about gun control during the election. Now Pelosi is saying it is their number 1 priority, this is going to ensure a massive Trump victory in 2020, one that is so large the Dems won’t be able to sruff enough ballot boxes to steal any seats anywhere.

Nancy Pelosi Told A Big Lie That Just Destroyed The Democrat Party For 2020

      nancy

Nancy Pelosi could not help herself.

The San Francisco Democrat basked in the glow of winning back the House of Representatives.

But she just made the one mistake that turned every Democrat’s dream into a nightmare.
      Nancy Pelosi Promises Gun Control

Democrats won a number of Republican-held seats by running candidates who claimed to be pro-gun.

Now it is clear they lied.

Just days after the election, Nancy Pelosi appeared on Chris Cuomo’s CNN show and promised to pass massive new gun control.

Pelosi was reacting to the horrible news coming from California where a deranged madman murdered 12 innocents at a country music bar.

“First, let me join you in expressing sorrow over this mass shooting and the loss of the sheriff and every other life that was lost there. I do believe — because in the — in this Congress, the one that we’re in right this minute, there is bipartisan legislation to have commonsense background checks to prevent guns going into the wrong hands. Now, it doesn’t cover everything, but it is — it will save many lives,” Pelosi claimed.

The Democrat leader declared, “[T]his will be a priority for us in the next Congress.”

Democrats and the media love mass shootings.

It gives them the chance to go on the offense to push more gun control.

Pelosi did not care that the shooter had purchased his weapons legally – which means he passed a background check.

And Pelosi also looked past the fact that the killer illegally modified his weapons to make them more deadly.

Finally, he had used a legal handgun to carry out his plan.

Kris Brown – co-President of the gun-grabbing Brady Campaign – declared that Democrats turned out to vote for anti-gun candidates.

Therefore, they had a right to expect action.

“Our base is worked up, and people are reacting in a positive way at the ballot box,” said Brown, who campaigned with the three Virginia Democrats in the final week alongside a stream of volunteers. “A large number of folks showed up and knocked on doors and said they finally have a candidate who will do something about gun violence,” Brown stated.

There is no law that could have prevented this tragedy.

The background check system has proved many times it does not work.

Adding more layers is just cover for creating a national gun owner database.

Critics believe Democrats want this database so they know who owns what guns in the event they ever pass legislation to confiscate all firearms.
      How Pelosi’s Lie Damages Democrats

Democrats do not hold a large House majority.

Republicans could flip as few as a dozen seats in 2020 and win back the House.

And by expert’s forecasts, they stand a strong chance to win back Congress in 2020.

That’s because it will be a Presidential election year.

And Trump at the top of the ballot will provide a strong motivation for the GOP base to turnout.

If Democrats vote on gun control legislation, it will doom many members who currently hold GOP leaning seats.

In 2014, Republicans won nine Senate seats after Obama tried to exploit the tragedy at Sandy Hook to create a national gun registration database scheme.

Democrats risk the same fate in 2020 if they follow Pelosi’s advice and pass gun control.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this ongoing story.

  19. Lack of sunspots to bring record cold, warns NASA scientist
    November 12, 2018 by Robert

“It could happen in a matter of months,” says Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center.
    ________________

“The sun is entering one of the deepest Solar Minima of the Space Age,” wrote Dr Tony Phillips just six weeks ago, on 27 Sep 2018.

Sunspots have been absent for most of 2018 and Earth’s upper atmosphere is responding, says Phillips, editor of spaceweather.com.

Data from NASA’s TIMED satellite show that the thermosphere (the uppermost layer of air around our planet) is cooling and shrinking, literally decreasing the radius of the atmosphere.

To help track the latest developments, Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center and his colleagues recently introduced the “Thermosphere Climate Index.”

The Thermosphere Climate Index (TCI) tells how much heat nitric oxide (NO) molecules are dumping into space. During Solar Maximum, TCI is high (meaning “Hot”); during Solar Minimum, it is low (meaning “Cold”).

“Right now, it is very low indeed … 10 times smaller than we see during more active phases of the solar cycle,” says Mlynczak

  20. US analysts locate secret North Korean missile sites

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. analysts said Monday they have located 13 secret North Korean missile development sites, underscoring the challenge that the Trump administration faces in trying to reach its promised broad arms control agreement with Pyongyang.

The administration has said it is hopeful about eventually reaching an agreement with North Korea. President Donald Trump declared after his historic summit in June that with President Kim Jong Un there was “no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea.” But a report based on satellite imagery shows the complexity posed by an extensive network of weapons facilities that the U.S. wants to neutralize.

A report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies has identified 13 secret facilities used to produce missiles and related technology. Although the sites are not launch facilities and in some cases are rudimentary, the authors of the report say they are hidden and illustrate the scope of the North’s weapons program and the country’s determination to conceal its military might.

“The dispersed deployment of these bases and distinctive tactics employed by ballistic missile units are combined with decades of extensive camouflage, concealment and deception practices to maximize the survival of its missile units from pre-emptive strikes and during wartime operations,” they said.

Anyone in the alternative media that doesn’t toe the Socialist line is a prime targert for harassment and it won’t be too long before the harassment become physical attacks. 22. Florida recount chugs along as more irregularities surface

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Florida’s election recount is chugging along as more irregularities are uncovered and a judge asked the warring sides to “ramp down the rhetoric,” saying it erodes public confidence in the election for Senate and governor.

One county revealed Monday that it had allowed some hurricane-displaced voters to cast their ballots by email — a violation of state law. Another had to restart its recount after getting about a quarter finished because someone forgot to push a button.

  23. Yes, caravan still ‘hundreds of miles away’ but it is dwarfed by daily illegal border crossings
By Daily Caller News Foundation November 13, 2018

The massive procession of migrants winding through Mexico may be weeks away from the southwest border, but a “caravan”-sized number of people cross into the U.S. illegally every single day.

That fact has been overshadowed by coverage of the 4,000-strong caravan and President Donald Trump’s reaction to it, particularly his deployment of thousands of active duty troops to three border states. Commentators are quick to note that the caravan is still hundreds of miles from the nearest U.S. port of entry, and its members are unlikely to swarm across the border when it does arrive.

But the caravan is only a small — if highly publicized — part of a much larger phenomenon that has completely swamped the U.S. asylum system.

  24. High school vocabulary quiz includes question meant to insult conservatives
By Rusty Weiss November 13, 2018

Remember when school was a place where you learned basic essential skills that would prepare you for life? Some schools still teach this subjects but poison young minds by indoctrinating them so they will embrace liberal ideas.

Such is the case in Florida where a high school teacher included a question on his students’ vocabulary exam that portrays conservatives as bigoted, anti-immigrant, sexists.

The exam was fill-in-the-blank style and the question under scrutiny tested students’ knowledge of the term volte-face, which means an abrupt and complete reversal of attitude.

One of the students taking the exam is a founding member of the school’s Republican club. Imagine his surprise when he reached question 7, which read:

  25. Blue wave destroys moderate Republicans
By Jerome Woehrle November 12, 2018

Chutzpah has been defined as “that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father, throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan.” The ex-conservative columnist Max Boot has that quality. He recently complained about how few moderate Republican officials are left, after loudly demanding that voters drive all Republicans from office to punish the Republican Party for Donald Trump. He and other Washington Post columnists advocated voting against all Republicans, even moderates running against radical left-wing Democrats. A true nihilist, Boot says that “we need to destroy the Republican Party” and that it must be “burned to the ground.” The Post’s delivery zone is a liberal region where only the most moderate of Republicans can get elected. No prominent official in the region had endorsed Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries. So to the extent that Boot’s rantings had any effect on voters, it was to get rid of moderate Republicans, not Trump enthusiasts.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/11/12/blue-wave-destroys-moderate-republicans/

    • The columnist seems to be a moderate who hates Trump and is crying because he and others spoke out so much that they caused voters to vote straight Dem. This is going to result in hither local taxes and lower services as the Dems divert money to welfare rather then maintaining the roads and infrastructure.

      • His father was a famous Russian émigré, anti-Communist scholar. Max was considered a “neocon”, rrrright-wing-conservative. He used to be really good – I used to read him all the time. Got kinky-NeverTrump.

But then I loved Bret Stephens, former editor of the Jerusalem Post, then the WSJ. He worked tirelessly on the team opposing the Nuke Deal. Like Caroline Glick.
Then he moved to the NYT. Went straight to hell, personally and professionally. Shocking midlife crisis.

  26. the globe and mail –Maxime Bernier goes to a dark place

Maxime Bernier wants to win the Canadian Trump vote.

In a speech on Saturday at a conference hosted by the right-wing Rebel Media in Calgary, the leader of the new People’s Party of Canada questioned the science of climate change, pilloried the United Nations and insisted immigrants to Canada must embrace “Western civilization values.”

His language was not as extreme as Donald Trump’s – this is Canada, after all – but he made it perfectly clear, at least to this listener, that the implicit motto of the People’s Party is: Canada First. For however many believe that the Canadian economy and social fabric are being undermined by environmentalists, do-gooders and immigrants, Mr. Bernier promises he will be their voice.

The party, which the Beauce, Que., MP founded in September after deciding Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives had become too centrist, is making good progress. Its leader has laid to rest accusations that he lacked the discipline or public support to craft a working political party with national reach. Mr. Bernier claims to already have signed up 33,000 supporters with PPC riding associations organizing across the country.

In some ways, Mr. Bernier is simply a Conservative in a hurry, with his proposals to lower taxes, eliminate corporate subsidies, deregulate the telecom sector, cut funding to the CBC and privatize Canada Post.

But in front of a friendly crowd, his vision grows darker.

First, he pledged, “I am the only politician in Ottawa who promises to take Canada out of the Paris accord” to fight global warming. He acknowledges that most scientists believe human activity is responsible for climate change, but “there are also scientists saying other factors, like the sun, have more impact.” Regardless, “we are not going to destroy our economy on that subject.” Climate-change deniers will feel very much at home in the People’s Party.

Second, Mr. Bernier is committed to “abolishing foreign aid and saving the $5-billion that we spend every year to help Canadians instead.” Canada under the People’s Party would have “a foreign policy that focuses on security and prosperity of Canadians, not on pleasing a dysfunctional United Nations.” Even Mr. Trump hasn’t proposed completely eliminating foreign aid, although he would doubtless warm to the idea if he thought he could get away with it.

Third, and darkest, “our immigration policy should not aim to forcibly change the cultural character and social fabric of our country,” he told the audience. Immigration levels should be reduced, and immigrants must “adopt widely shared Canadian values, Western civilization values,” he maintained.

“On issues such as immigration, multiculturalism, diversity, [the Conservatives] are simply not willing to push back against the dominant left-wing narrative,” Mr. Bernier declared, “and they are afraid to create controversies. I’m not afraid.”

The day before, at a party rally in Calgary, Mr. Bernier was asked how he would stem the tide of migrants crossing the Quebec border illegally. He replied, that if he were prime minister, “it will be easier for me and for us to sit with Donald Trump to have a discussion about that.” That’s probably true.

And if there were any doubt about the buttons Mr. Bernier intends to push in the months ahead, on Sunday, he tweeted a video of crowds in Pakistan protesting the release of Asia Bibi, a Christian who had been convicted of blasphemy. “Radical multiculturalism is the misguided belief that all values and cultures can coexist in one society,” he tweeted. “They cannot. We must protect our society against this kind of barbarism.”

No credible voice in this country seeks to undermine the values and beliefs embedded in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and in the fabric of Canadian society. Immigrants and refugees come here in search of a future protected by those values and beliefs. Mr. Bernier is simply stoking irrational fears of a threat that does not exist. It is pure Trumpism.

Not everything Mr. Bernier advocates would please the President. The People’s Party Leader is, for one thing, an ardent free-trader.

But in his attacks on multicultural diversity and tolerance, he echoes – in a typically attenuated, Canadian way – Mr. Trump’s rhetoric; he stokes the anger Mr. Trump seeks to stoke.

In terms of splitting the vote, Mr. Bernier’s insurrection may be a problem for the Conservative Party. But in terms of what he believes and who he represents, they’re well rid of him.

  27. The Left claims Brenda Snipes is not a Democrat. Their proof?
By Ben Bowles November 13, 2018

I can understand the Democrats’ desire to prove that Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes is not one of them. No one would want to claim responsiblity for Snipes because she is a walking disaster. Whether there is any truth to the sworn statement that she ordered election workers to fill in blank ballots in 2016, there is no doubt that Snipes “accidentally mixed more than a dozen rejected ballots with nearly 200 valid ones” in the electoral crisis currently playing out in Florida.

But the real reason Dems are eager to cast Snipes as a Republican is to erase suspicions that they are pushing hard for the recount effort purely as a means to electing two Democrats who lost — far-left gubernatorial hopeful Andrew Gillum and veteran Sen. Bill Nelson.

So what evidence is cited by MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell and others to support their contention that Snipes is a Republican. She was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush, who is a Republican. Here’s Mitchell:

  28. Arizona: McSally concedes to Sinema; bonus map of ‘emergency voting’ concern for state GOP
    By J.E. Dyer November 13, 2018

On Monday evening, Republican candidate Martha McSally conceded the race for U.S. Senate to Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, as a protracted ballot count dragged on. The ballot count is supposed to be concluded Wednesday night. Sinema is ahead by about 35,000 votes on 12 November, and election watchers are projecting that there is now no path to victory for McSally.

Although the Arizona race hasn’t been plagued by the vote-counting and non-transparency problems of the Florida and Georgia races, the state Republican Party expressed concerns about two contentious issues with the voting in Arizona’s most populous county, Maricopa, where the Phoenix metro is located.

  29. The myth that Trump didn’t visit Arlington cemetery on Veterans Day due to rain
By LU Staff November 13, 2018

The observation wrongly ascribed to Mark Twain that “a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes” should be the slogan of CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and every other mainstream purveyor of “the news” in the Trump era. If the press can be reliable for anything, it is doubling down on the lies they tell.

This was the case last Saturday when the media jointly implied that the president had personally canceled a planned visit to a cemetery for Americans killed in World War I because he doesn’t like standing out in the rain. As the AP, itself frequently unreliable, truthfully reported, the decision to ground Marine One, the president’s helicopter, was made as it always is “by the Marine Corps and the White House Military Office, which then presents the recommendation to the White House in collaboration with the Secret Service.” Trump had nothing to do with it.

The Washington Post and other major media outlets published a “correction” the following day, but only to clarify that the Marine Corps and the White House Military Office — not the secret service alone — take part in making this decision. There was no effort to retract the notion that Trump is averse to going out in the rain.

The historic record is clear that Christopher Columbus did not ‘discover’ America since he never reached the shores of North America & there were millions of Indigenous people already living here.

The genocide of indigenous people during the colonization of the Americas lasted centuries. Today, Columbus statues are regarded as signs of oppression.

She added that the move should include a common development of weapon systems and an EU-wide arms export policy.

Speaking before European MP’s, the German Chancellor also pointed out that the EU must develop common standard “for such sensible issues as asylum law and humanitarian responsibility.”

“Otherwise we will not be able to cope with flight and migration,” she said.

After finishing her speech, Merkel was greeted by applause and loud boos from some parts of the chamber. In reaction to the booing, the president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, suggested to call for a veterinarian.

Speaking after Merkel’s address, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker praised German Chancellor’s decision not to close the borders to migrants. “The story will prove that you’ve been right,” he said.

Juncker also brought up the ongoing Brexit negotiations, saying that it is important to “respect” the referendum vote. At the same time, Juncker stressed that he considers the Brexit to be a “tragedy” and a “historical error.”

Ministers of the ruling coalition of the anti-migration League and the anti-establishment Five Star Movement agreed to insist on a 2.4 percent deficit target, and a 1.5 percent growth forecast for next year in the letter the government will send the European Commission.

Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams filed a lawsuit in federal court Sunday in the hopes she could legally force a runoff election in her race against rival Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp.

Abrams, who has not conceded to Kemp despite him gaining 50.3 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting as of Monday afternoon, filed a lawsuit Sunday to block two counties from rejecting provisional and absentee ballots with slight errors, the Washington Post reported.

The lawsuit also calls for county officials to accept provisional ballots from voters who have not updated their current addresses when registering to vote, and seeks to extend the deadline for certifying election results to Wednesday.

  38. Survey: Majority of Democrats see Republicans as racist, bigoted, sexist
Kim Hart, Axios November 12, 2018

[Ed. – Since this is not because of anything Republicans have done, there’s no point in paying much attention to it. Democrats will have to figure out how to catch up with reality. Republicans also need to keep in mind that 39% of Democrats don’t share this bigoted view of the GOP, and can potentially be reached out to with good results.]

Exclusive poll: Most Democrats see Republicans as racist, sexist

Many Americans think people in the other party are ignorant, spiteful, evil and generally destroying the country, according to a new Axios poll by SurveyMonkey, aired on HBO on Sunday night. 61% of Democrats see Republicans as “racist/bigoted/sexist.” 31% of Republicans say they view Democrats in the same light.

Why it matters: If Americans are this convinced that the other side isn’t just wrong, but dumb and evil, they’ll never be able to find enough common ground to solve real problems. And they’re more likely to elect leaders who can’t do it, either.

The suspicion runs so deep that a third of all Americans say they’d be disappointed if a close family member married someone whose partisanship didn’t match their own, according to the poll for “Axios on HBO.”

  39. Migrant Influx Sees Dutch Poverty Levels Rising (breitbart, Nov 13, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/13/migrant-influx-dutch-poverty-rising/

“The number of low-income households in the Netherlands is rising as a result of an influx of migrants from the third world, the majority of whom end up on welfare, according to government figures.

Figures showed the number of households with an income on, or just above the poverty line, rose for the first time in four years to reach 599,000 in 2017 — a figure which marked an increase of 27,000 from the previous year.

Statistics Netherlands reports that around a third of the rise in households at risk of poverty — the proportion which rose to 8.2 per cent of 7.3 million Dutch households from 7.9 per cent in 2016 — was due to an influx of “mostly Syrian refugees”, who it notes “have received a residence permit, but are mostly dependent on welfare”.

Just under 80 per cent of all Syrian households have an income below the low-income threshold, and taxpayer-funded income support is the primary source of income for 95 per cent.

The figures for households headed by an Eritrean were slightly higher than for Syrians, although the poverty risk fell from 83 to 80 per cent in 2017 according to the CBS data, which revealed that around 53 per cent of refugee-background households have an income around or below the poverty line — over six times the average in the Netherlands…”

  40. Florida Recount Lawyer Marc Elias Helped Dems Orchestrate Fake ‘Steele Dossier’ Scandal

Folks involved in funding this lied about it, and with sanctimony, for a year…’

Note: This is the third in a multi-part series examining Democrat attorney Marc Elias. This article covers Elias’ role as the middle man between the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Fusion GPS firm in commissioning the infamous ‘Steele dossier’ in 2016. Other articles in the series explore Elias’ role in election recounts, ‘sue till blue’ redistricting and shielding politicians under investigation for financial improprieties.

Ben Sellers, Liberty Headlines) For the past two decades, Marc Elias, the chief political law attorney at Perkins Coie, representing many top-level Democrats, has been directly implicated in nefarious election-related practices through redistricting and recounts.

However, in his capacity as official counsel for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign, Elias’ guiding hand in seemingly corrupting and politicizing the nation’s most trusted government institutions went beyond the courtroom and into the highest reaches of America’s law-enforcement and intelligence-gathering apparati.

Despite its failure to derail the candidacy and subsequent presidency of Donald Trump, the Steele dossier—in which Elias likely played a pivotal role—has proved a source of constant distraction and polarization during the first two years of Trump’s administration, while further eroding an already shaken public trust in the ethics, motives and allegiances of “deep state” bureaucratic officials.
