Just one of the things that makes America one of the greatest nations to have ever blessed this planet, is the peaceful transition of power according to the honest will of the people every couple of years.

I would like to take this opportunity to to wish for my fellow patriots and all who live in the United States, and all who live in Canada and other western nations who, for one reason or another, have taken it upon themselves to find the outcome of tomorrow’s election in the US to be of great personal importance, to honour the Western tradition of a peaceful transition of power with the understanding that all things being equal. whoever wins gets a 2 year shot at power, and if they do a bad job, will answer for it at the next opportunity.

I think I know how it will work out but so does everyone else. And at least half of us will be wrong, and many of us will be profoundly disappointed.

But those who are elected must get a shot at power, and fairly.

They will be elected to do a job and they must do it within the confines of the US constitution. Should they go outside those guidelines, the situation changes. But till then, showing the world that the US still has the metal to accept democratic choice, that would be a great sign for the future of the West.

  1. Spain finds 17 dead migrants, 100 survivors in Mediterranean (abcnews, Nov 6, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spain-finds-17-dead-migrants-100-survivors-mediterranean-58991974

“Spanish rescue workers combed the seas and shores of southern Spain on Tuesday, searching for 17 missing migrants a day after finding the bodies of 17 other migrants who died trying to cross the Mediterranean in boats departing from North Africa.

The Spanish Civil Guard said it had found four bodies of migrants and 22 survivors Monday, all men from northern Africa, after their wooden dinghy hit a reef close to the coast, west of the Strait of Gibraltar. The Civil Guard said 13 of the survivors were thought to be unaccompanied minors.

It also said 17 other people traveling were missing, but could have reached Spanish shores. The Civil Guard on Tuesday resumed the search for them both on sea and land.

Earlier on Monday, Spanish maritime rescuers found 80 people, including five women, and recovered the bodies of 13 dead migrants in the Alboran Sea, part of the western Mediterranean migrant route into Europe.

The migrants were traveling in two different boats, the Spanish Maritime Rescue Service said, adding that they were all transferred to the Spanish enclave of Melilla, which borders Morocco.

The U.N. says over 2,160 people have died trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe this year, 564 of them trying to reach Spain.

At the Strait of Gibraltar on the western edge of the Mediterranean, Africa and Europe are only 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) apart but the waters there can be dangerous due to high winds and strong currents. Still, the short distance has made that route the most popular choice for migrants heading to Europe after fleeing violence or poverty at home.

Nearly 54,000 migrants have entered Europe this year through Spain, more than the combined migrant arrivals to Italy and Greece, which had been the most popular migrant destinations in previous years. One-fifth of them arrived in October, the month with most migrant arrivals so far this year, according to U.N. statistics.”

    • Spain finds 17 dead migrants, 100 survivors in Mediterranean

I live near a major commute rail line and am, at times, overwhelmed with sympathy for the engineer drivers who are forced to watch suicidal children and adults throw themselves in front of the oncoming train they’re operating. If ever there was justifiable grounds for a PTSD claim, that’s one description.

How in hell does this relate to people in Spain finding 17 dead migrants and 100 survivors in the Mediterranean?

From what I’ve read and been lead to understand, drowning victims are not the prettiest to recover. I’ll stop there to avoid putting anybody off of their kibble.

Imagine the hell these Southern European mariners experience coming into routine contact with so much death and desperation. Color me unsurprised if those sailors eventually exhibit symptoms of PTSD.

Yet one more hidden price tag of the Globalist–Tranzi–Multiculti “borderless” ideal.

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/uighurs-supporters-march-china-faces-rights-review-58992454

“Supporters of China’s Muslim Uighur minority are demonstrating in Geneva as the U.N.’s top human rights body examines the country’s rights record in a regular review.

Advocacy groups including Human Rights Watch want the Human Rights Council to press Chinese authorities on issues like use of mass detention centers in the western Xinjiang region where many Uighurs live.

Some foreign officials and rights groups have criticized China’s use of so-called “vocational training centers,” which they say aim to strip the Uighurs of their religion and ethnic identity.

Tuesday’s review of China is part of the Human Rights Council’s universal period review process under which each U.N. member state comes up for examination every four to five years.

The independent report, commissioned by Facebook, said the platform had created an “enabling environment” for the proliferation of human rights abuse.

It comes after widespread violence against the Rohingya minority which the UN has said may amount to genocide.

The report said Facebook would have to “get it right” before 2020 elections.

Facebook has more than 18 million users in Myanmar. For many, the social media site is their main or only way of getting and sharing news.

This is where the rubber meets the road. I confidently predict that Communist China will be held to a far-more-relaxed double standard regarding their treatment of its domestic Uighur population.

    • Here’s China’s Massive Plan To Retool The Web
The most ambitious project of mass control is the country’s “social credit” system. All Chinese citizens will receive a numerical score reflecting their “trustworthiness.”

The kicker is at the end:
“Luckily, no other nation has enjoyed China’s level of success in subordinating the internet to the will of the state, because of both its head start and its massive scale of investment. But other nations are certainly jealous. The governments of Thailand, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and Cuba have all reportedly explored establishing a Chinese-style internet of their own. Russian president Vladimir Putin has even gone so far as to sign a pact calling for experienced Chinese censors to instruct Russian engineers on building advanced web control mechanisms.

“Just as U.S. tech companies once helped China erect its Great Firewall, so China has begun to export its hard-won censorship lessons to the rest of the world.”

  3. Police: Weekend Shootings, Explosions in Border Town Malmö Linked (breitbart, Nov 6, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/06/police-two-shootings-two-explosions-weekend-malmo-linked/

“Police in the heavily migrant-populated Swedish city of Malmö say the two shootings and two separate explosions over the weekend are directly linked to rival gangs.

A total of four incidents and an arrest occurred over the course of the weekend in various parts of the city which has been rocked by gang violence, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

The first incident occurred on Friday night in the notorious no-go suburb of Rosengård in which an unknown attacker shot at an apartment in the area.

The shooting is just the latest in the area which also saw an explosion outside the local police station in January, which led to several police vehicles and the facade of the building being damaged.

Also on Friday evening, an explosion occurred outside of a driving school that was so powerful the apartments above the school were partially damaged by the blast according to investigators, although no one was injured.

On Saturday night, another shooting attempt occurred in Rosengård when an individual shot at a local townhouse with what is believed to have been a shotgun. The attack came only an hour after a taxi driver had also been shot in the area.

The fourth attack came on Sunday evening as another explosion went off near the site of the first bombing on Friday. According to investigators, the target was a property that contained a hair stylist among other businesses.

The explosion badly damaged the facade of the building, forcing officers to cordon off the area for several hours.

Police then arrested a 21-year-old on charges of extortion at around 1:40am Monday morning who they believe may have some connection to the attacks.

The weekend of violence comes after the city experienced a mass shooting earlier this year which saw three men shot dead outside of an internet cafe in June. It was later revealed that nearly all of the victims of the shooting were known to be involved in the organised crime scene.”

  5. ISIL’s legacy of terror: at least 200 mass graves in Iraq, says UN report (ohchr, Nov 6, 2018)
    https://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=23831&LangID=E

“More than 200 mass graves containing the remains of thousands of victims have been discovered in areas formerly controlled by ISIL in Iraq, according to a UN report released Tuesday. The report highlights the legacy of ISIL’s relentless campaign of terror and violence and victims’ calls for truth and justice.

The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the UN Human Rights Office have documented the existence of 202 mass grave sites in the governorates of Ninewa, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Anbar in the northern and western parts of the country – but there may be many more. While it is difficult to determine the total number of people in these graves, the smallest site, in west Mosul, contained eight bodies while the biggest is believed to be the Khasfa sinkhole south of Mosul which may contain thousands.

The report stresses that these sites could potentially contain critical forensic material to assist in the identification of victims and to build an understanding of the scale of crimes that occurred…”

  6. Twitter suspends 1.2 million accounts for terrorism in two years (smh, Nov 6, 2018)
    https://www.smh.com.au/world/asia/twitter-suspends-1-2-million-accounts-for-terrorism-in-two-years-20181106-p50eeb.html

“Social media giant Twitter suspended 1,210,357 accounts for promoting terrorism between August 2015 and the end of 2017.

That figure, detailed by the company’s head of public policy in Indonesia, Agung Yudha, was shared at a regional counter-terrorism meeting in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday.

The suspensions represent just a fraction of the website’s active user base – about 330 million at the start of 2018.

Social media use is huge in Indonesia, which is estimated to have the fifth-highest number of Twitter users in the world, and in Jakarta in particular, which has been named the most active Twitter city in the world.

Mr Yudha’s presentation to senior ministers from Australia, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand was reportedly one of the highlights of the meeting.

Australia’s Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, who attended the meeting, said the “incredible” number highlighted just how much more work social media companies had to do to combat terrorism.

“It’s a significant figure but it may just be the tip of the iceberg in terms of the quantum that we need to deal with, not only today but as the use of social media increases as years go by,” he said.

Mr Dutton welcomed the rise of social media, but said that it meant “those companies need to accept greater responsibility they have in the past”.

“Those companies also have a specific obligation – to engage with and assist law enforcement organisations – particularly where encrypted messages or services are being used to carry messages conveyed and used in the planning of a terrorist attack or other serious criminal enterprise,” he said.

Mr Dutton said that at a Five Eyes – the US/UK/Australia/Canada/New Zealand intelligence group – meeting in Australia in August this year “it was very hard even to get the companies to turn up to be a part of the conversation and that was very disappointing”.

He praised Twitter for speaking the regional counter-terrorism grouping, but added that Australians, Indonesians and citizens of other nations expected law enforcement and intelligence agencies to be able to detect a message conveyed over a social media platform that could result in the loss of civilian lives.

“That’s the responsibility that we need to share with social media platforms in a way that hasn’t been possible in the past,” he said.

“I think there is more engagement now, I hope that continues into the future because I think the companies understand the unified position of those countries represented in the room today, but munch further afield, including the Five Eyes partners.”

Mr Dutton’s counterpart, the Co-ordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, said the development of technology was both positive and negative.

”One of the positive sides is the development of e-commerce. But the negative is that social media is also used by terrorists to influence people, to provide training on assembling bombs etc,” he said.

“So we discussed ways on how governments and private sector can work together to minimise the negative sides of social media being used for evil purposes. We agreed that a working group will develop [programs] which we can implement effectively.”

The threat posed by returning foreign fighters was also discussed at length at the meeting of the nine nations, with agreement reached for greater – and deeper – co-operation.”

  7. Controversy as Italian School Textbooks Revealed to Promote Only Pro-Mass Migration Views (breitbart, Nov 6, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/06/italian-school-textbooks-revealed-promote-only-pro-mass-migration-views/

“Media investigations have found Italian school textbooks have a totally pro-mass migration slant, which has been deemed “migratory propaganda.”

The migration crisis has been a focal part of Italian politics and has led to a surge in popularity for the populist League party which fiercely opposes open borders.

An investigation by Italian media shows that while voters are largely rejecting mass migration, Italian middle and high school pupils are only being taught about it from a positive point of view, with Il Giornale referring to the curricula as “migratory propaganda”.

The textbook The Eye of History: An Integrated Course in History and Geography is one such pro-mass migration book that contains various exercises for high school students including one that states: “Today, schools must favour the integration of the children of immigrants and therefore the creation of a multi-ethnic and multicultural society.”

The text also argues that mass migration of working age migrants into Italy is needed to keep the Italian pension system afloat, and refers positively to the barbarian invasions and mass migration into the Western Roman Empire as a benefit saying: “This migratory phenomenon has contributed to the construction of that Roman-Barbarian world that is at the foundation of our Europe, that same Europe that today feels frightened and threatened from the arrival of masses of migrants and refugees.”

The books for middle schools are largely the same, according to another report, which tells students that Italian society must head into a “multi-ethnic, multicultural society and multireligious” future while those who disagree are labelled advocates of a “racist, xenophobic and intolerant culture.”

The books follow other politically correct moves in Italy, including a recently released guide for journalists which encouraged them not to use terms like “illegal immigrant.” The guide also called on journalists to “stigmatise” those with anti-mass migration views, including politicians.

Despite the attempts to demonise anti-mass migration viewpoints, populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini still remains the most popular politician in the country with an approval rating of nearly 50 per cent.”

    • Salvini To Cut Migrant Allowance In Half, Saving €400 Million

Italy’s populist interior minister, and de facto most important politician, Matteo Salvini has continued his assault on what he views as Italy’s biggest problem, and is expected to drastically cut the daily allowance for migrants in Italy, claiming the country could see save up to €400 million by 2019.

According to Il Giornale, the proposal would slash by almost half the current daily allowance of €35 per day to only €19 per day, which would be one of the lowest rates in western Europe. And, according to the Interior Ministry, the cuts would lead to a saving of €400 million in 2019, rising to €500 million in 2020 and €600 million in the years thereafter, unlocking much needed budgetary savings for a country that remains l

The move would also be part of the broader migration and security decree released by Salvini in late September, which also banned residency permits for so-called humanitarian reasons. Migrants will now be classified into two groups: those with recognized asylum claims and those without according to the Italian press. Those with refugee status and recognized underage migrants will have broader access to funding and government programs.[…]

GEFIRA: The Italian People Must Understand That Their Country Is At War

The conflict between the European Union and Italy is a full-blown financial war. Euro countries cannot print their own money and for that reason they cannot have an endless deficit. Countries within the eurozone have to live within their means or else, without the intervention of the ECB, they will go bankrupt. Nobody knows the consequences of an Italian default and debt restructuring, but it can lead to the end of the euro.

[…]To force Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio and Matteo Salvini out of office, the European Union will go to any lengths to destroy the Italian banking sector the way they did it in Greece and Cyprus. In 2015 Greece shut down its banks, ordering them to stay closed for six days, and its central bank imposed restrictions to prevent money from fleeing out of the country.

Jeroen Dijsselbloem, former head of the euro group, suggests that the financial markets should try to lower the value of the Italian bonds. A lower bond value will erode the capital of the Italian banks and make them insolvent. Mario Draghi, head of the ECB, warned last week that a recent sell-off of Italian government bonds was set to dent the capital of Italy’s banks which own about 375 billion euros ($426.30 billion) worth of that paper. The remarks of the Central European Bank’s chairman were carefully prepared as another deliberate attack on the Italian financial system. It is highly unusual for central bankers to warn the bank under their supervision against insolvency, at the same time trying to provoke a preemptive bank run.

[…]The leadership in Rome will not leave it to Brussels or Frankfurt bureaucrats to decide whether Italian banks are insolvent or not. In theory, every sovereign government can declare a bank solvent by the stroke of a pen. The Italian authorities can refuse to close their banks and force them to stay in business. Unlike Greece, Italy has a trade balance surplus and the country does not depend on a foreign supply of money to pay for its imports. Keeping insolvent banks open will further undermine the reliability of the euro as a common currency. To put even more pressure on the Italian government, Karsten Wendorff, Member of the Advisory Board of the German federal banks, suggested confiscating private Italian properties to make good for the Italian public debt obligations.

[…]The general public is unaware of the seriousness of the situation. Both Salvini and DiMaio – as well as the Italian people – should realize that they are at war with the European establishment which ultimately intends to remove them from power. To win this battle they need unconditional support from the state security apparatus and the Italian people. The confrontation between Rome on the other hand and Brussels and Frankfurt on the other, however, will not break out before the European Parliament elections.

    • zero hedge -MSM Has Gone From “Blue Wave” To “No Idea What’s Going To Happen”

The mainstream media, or MSM, has been furiously backpedaling on grand prognostications of Democrat victory in Tuesday’s midterms. Talk in April of a “blue wave” ran out of steam mid-summer, with MSM pundits shifting tone to assure audiences that “well, Democrats will surely take the House.”

Now, they’re not so sure about that either.

As Politico reports, CNN and other networks are determined not to be caught flat-footed like they were in 2016, warning their journalists and editors to prepare for any outcome.

CNN Washington bureau chief Sam Feist has spent a lot of time talking about the race in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District. A lot.

His team at CNN — including anchors, reporters, producers, chyron writers, alert senders and pretty much anyone else whose hand touches election night coverage — has rehearsed 16 scenarios of what might happen in Tuesday’s midterms. A red wave, a blue wave, a purple ripple — all have been covered in the run-throughs, which play out hypothetical election nights in real time. Some have stretched six, seven, eight and even nine hours long. -Politico

At the end of the day, CNN’s Feist admits “I have no idea what’s going to happen,” adding “We’re ready for every outcome.”

The Washington Post’s national editor Steven Ginsberg, meanwhile, has encouraged reporters and editors to “embrace not knowing” what’s going to happen on Tuesday – while the New York Times is drilling “prepare, prepare, prepare” into their journos according to politics editor Patrick Healy – who has told them to keep their “eyes wide open for a number of scenarios.”

Even Democratic pollster Nate Silver, pictured above, has gone from 88% sure in November that Democrats would win the House, to “anything can happen.”

      Never again

As Politico notes, the media’s premature celebration at a Hillary Clinton victory was a major embarrassment across the industry – one which outlets are desperately seeking to avoid.

Two years ago, the media was pilloried for giving viewers and readers the impression there was little chance Hillary Clinton could lose and, worse, for “missing” the Trump phenomenon. Conservatives mocked the reactions of television anchors as his victory became apparent. This year, editors and executives from the Times, Post, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox News all told POLITICO that they will be prepared for any outcome — and will make sure their readers and viewers are, too.

Marc Burstein, ABC News senior executive producer of special events, acknowledged “there were assumptions made in 2016 by lots of news organizations,” a trap he intends to avoid this time around. “We’re going to be nimble. We’re going to follow the results,” Burstein said. “We’re not going to assume anything.” -Politico

According to Chris Stirewalt, political editor at Fox News, was that many news organizations simply dismissed the notion that Trump could win, even as polls indicated he had a 20% chance of victory. “If somebody told you there was a 1 in 5 chance that an airplane was going to crash, you would not get on the airplane,” said Stirewalt – who added that news organizations should take care not to prime their audiences for any outcome.

“I’m sort of like the weatherman,” he said. “I’m not in control of the storm. But I can tell you where on the map it’s likely to go.”

Rashida Jones, senior VP of specials for NBC News and MSNBC echoed other network executives in their warnings against predictions – telling Politico that the strategy for Tuesday is simply to “guide the viewers through a big night” while “being focused on telling them what’s happening in real time”

“Where we are now is just so different from four, eight years ago,” says The Post’s Ginsberg regarding the past two midterm elections, adding that the “takeaway from 2016 is that we should be careful about the metrics we use to judge election results.”

Hundreds of Jewish people in America have rushed to undertake training to learn how to shoot, after an attack on a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on October 27 that killed 11 people. A private company offering “Israeli tactical shooting techniques” has been inundated with hundreds of requests in the days following the shooting.

“There is no question that Jews are under threat in America. Would you say to soldiers on the front line, ‘just lay down your guns and let the enemy kill you?’ No. So Jews need to be armed,” said Yonatan Stern, the founder of Cherev Gidon Israeli Tactical Training Academy, which offers classes in Pennsylvania and Arizona. Stern, a former officer of the Israel Defense Forces, created the academy six years ago, predicting, he says, that there would be attacks on the Jewish community in the United States.

The shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh was the deadliest attack on Jews in America’s history. Stern says that his organisation has received more requests for training from Jews in the days since the attack than in the entire time the academy has been running.

  9. Senkaku Islands dispute: US and Japan draw up plans to defend disputed islands from China

JAPAN and the United States are drawing up plans to fight China for ownership of a remote cluster of islands in the Pacific.

THE Senkaku Islands are tiny rocky spurs, part of a scattering of islands between the northern tip of Taiwan and the Japanese home islands. They are rapidly turning into a flashpoint for war.

Beijing claims the islands as part of its historical inheritance — as it does neighbouring Taiwan, despite failing to seize the protectorate during the Chinese Civil War.

Taiwan, however, was a Japanese protectorate before World War II.

It’s a messy historical scenario, thought resolved through United Nations conventions and treaties established after the conflict.

The U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State group and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces conducted two joint patrols last week after Turkish artillery shelled Kurdish positions in northeastern Syria.

Turkey considers the Kurdish militia that forms the backbone of the SDF an extension of the Kurdish insurgency within Turkey. U.S. support for the Kurdish-led forces, who retook large areas from IS, has raised tensions between the two NATO allies.

“Not only can we not accept (the joint patrols), such a development will cause serious problems at the border,” Erdogan told reporters at parliament.

Meanwhile, a bomb went off inside a car in the northern Syrian town of Manbij, killing one person, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Manbij Military Council, which administers the town.

The SDF drove IS out of Manbij in 2016. In June, the U.S. and Turkey agreed on a roadmap in which Kurdish fighters were to withdraw from the town. The Kurdish YPG militia says it withdrew in July, but Turkish officials say the group, which they view as a terrorist organization, is still present in Manbij.

Last Thursday, Turkish and U.S. troops began jointly patrolling areas around the town.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/detained-suspected-plot-attack-french-president-58995176

“French security agents have arrested six people on preliminary terrorism charges for allegedly plotting to attack French President Emmanuel Macron, according to a French judicial official.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the allegations, said intelligence agents detained the six in three widely scattered regions, including one suspect in the Alps, another in Brittany and four suspects near the Belgian border in Moselle. He said the plan to target the French president appeared to be vague and unfinalized but violent.

Authorities said the six were between 22 and 62 years old and included one woman. It is not known if they were suspected of working together.

French presidents have been targeted several times over the decades, including in 2002 when a far-right sympathizer tried to attack President Jacques Chirac on the Champs-Elysees Avenue in Paris during Bastille Day celebrations.

Macron was in the northeastern French city of Verdun on Tuesday as part of centenary commemorations for the end of World War I.

The suspected plot was uncovered days before U.S. President Donald Trump and dozens of other world leaders are due in France for commemorations this weekend of the signing 100 years ago of the Nov. 11 armistice that ended World War I.”

The majority of the migrant caravan has arrived in the Mexican capital, with many still planning to walk hundreds of miles to the U.S. border.

After three weeks on the road, a group of around 1,000 migrants traveled more than 100 miles to Mexico City on Monday, with officials expecting up to 5,000 to arrive by Wednesday.

Mexican officials are housing the group in a sports stadium and have been serving them hot meals.

  14. Russia seen adopting new tactics in U.S. election interference efforts

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Russian agents believed to be connected to the government have been active in spreading divisive content and promoting extreme themes ahead of Tuesday’s U.S. mid-term elections, but they are working hard to cover their tracks, according to government investigators, academics and security firms.

Researchers studying the spread of disinformation on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and other platforms say the new, subtler tactics have allowed most of the so-called information operations campaigns to survive purges by the big social media companies and avoid government scrutiny.

“The Russians are definitely not sitting this one out,” said Graham Brookie, director of the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. “They have adapted over time to increased (U.S.) focus on influence operations.”

U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies say Russia used disinformation and other tactics to support President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

The Russian government has rejected allegations of election interference. On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman declined to comment on allegations of further meddling in the run-up to the mid-term elections.

  15. In 2016, George Soros boasted of spending half a billion dollars on migrants
By Daily Caller News Foundation November 5, 2018

Democratic donor George Soros earmarked $500 million dollars in 2016 to support migrants, writing that “harnessing the power of the private sector” is critical to support the “tens of millions of people [who] are on the move, fleeing their home countries in search of a better life abroad.”

“I have decided to earmark $500 million for investments that specifically address the needs of migrants, refugees and host communities,” Soros wrote in The Wall Street Journal. “I will invest in startups, established companies, social-impact initiatives and businesses founded by migrants and refugees themselves. Although my main concern is to help migrants and refugees arriving in Europe, I will be looking for good investment ideas that will benefit migrants all over the world.”

“We will also work closely with organizations such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Rescue Committee to establish principles to guide our investments,” he added.

The New York Times reported on Oct. 31 of this year that “Mr. Soros is being heatedly, if implausibly, cast as the financier of the immigrant caravan, a deep-state presence in the federal bureaucracy and the hidden hand behind the protests against Mr. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.”

  16. The compromised comms of CIA, State, and Hillary Clinton
    By J.E. Dyer November 6, 2018

t may seem a little odd on the eve of this very important midterm election to focus on the arcane topic of communications compromises and the effect on intelligence and national security. But LU contributor Jerome Woehrle highlighted an important new report posted at Yahoo.com on 2 November, which, in outlining some of the security and tradecraft failures that led to the killing of dozens of CIA sources abroad in the Obama years, serves as a timely walk down memory lane. The article at Yahoo News is a reminder of how much the U.S. intelligence and government IT communities knew at the time – and how much Hillary herself knew – and how much reason they all had to take her terrible communications security more seriously (regardless of whether her emails’ dangerous exposure had any link to the deaths of CIA assets), and do something about it.

But they didn’t. They didn’t – and not only that: the news media have largely let all of them off the hook for it. One of the most extensive reports on the saga of Hillary Clinton’s homebrew email server, compiled for Politico in September 2016 and full of legitimately appalling information, reads as a long apologetic for Hillary.

  17. ‘Hundreds are going to die in OKC’: Muslim threatens explosion, takes suspicious photos at Memorial, police say

OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was arrested in Oklahoma City, on a complaint of threatening to kill by the use of explosive. Police said he was seen taking suspicious photos at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and that he called his sister in Iran to tell her that, “hundreds of people are going to die in Oklahoma City, and something very large is going to happen.”

Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s joint Terrorism Task Force contacted Oklahoma City police on Oct. 30, regarding a suspicious person taking photos at the Memorial. Officials said the person, later identified as Amiremad Nayebyazdi, had been seen taking photos of unusual angles and places at the Memorial on several occasions.

Security forces were able to get the suspect’s Oklahoma tag number when he came back to the memorial, and tracked it to Nayebyazdi. Nayebryzdi had been arrested before on suspicion of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving under the influence, and public intoxication, and he had been taken into protective custody in 2014 on an emergency order of detention for a mental health evaluation.

Police said Nayebryazdi has a degree in petroleum engineering and worked for an Oklahoma City oil company.

Police said they received a call on Nov. 1 from a concerned person in California, who said Nayebryazdi had left a recorded message for his sister in Iran. Police said the recorded message was “loosely translated” by the caller, who said Nayebryazdi told his sister that, “Hundreds are going to die in Oklahoma City, something very large is going to happen, it will be on the news, and don’t tell mom and dad until it is seen on the news.”

The caller said they received the information from a high school friend living in Germany. All three had grown up together.

Police officers, along with a tactical team, a bomb squad, the gang unit and FBI agents, went to Nayebryazdi’s home near Northwest 5th Avenue and North Shartel Avenue. A bomb-detecting K-9 checked the suspect’s vehicle and found no indication of of an explosive device.

Officers then went to Nayebryazdi’s apartment and knocked on his door. Nayebryazdi opened the door and allowed officers inside, police said.

Nayebryazdi, police said, admitted to officers that he did tell her sister that, “hundreds of people will be dead and something big was going to happen in Oklahoma City.” Officers asked him if he was talking about an explosion, and he said “yes.”

Nayebryazdi also told police that he “hears things,” and that he just told her this was going to happen. He said he had not made any explosive devices, according to police.

According to police, Nayebryazdi admitted to taking photos at the memorial, but he denied placing any explosives in any area that would hurt people. He told police that he did not want to hurt people, but he has had problems, authorities said.

Police said they asked the man if he had mental problems and if he was supposed to be on medication, and that he answered he was supposed to be, but he had not been taking the medications.

The K-9 cleared the apartment and did not find any explosives, according to police.

A Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) officer responded and performed a mental evaluation on Nayebryazdi. He was then placed in protective custody and taken to St. Anthony Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

An arrest warrant was also issued for Nayebryazdi for the charge of threatening to kill by use of explosive.

Officials with the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum released a statement:

“As you can imagine, we live and work in a heightened state of awareness and security at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, primarily because of the incident in 1995 and premise for which the Memorial and Museum were even built.

I am very proud of our staff, NPS Rangers and the Memorial Security team for their vigilant work and for being aware of unusual circumstances and working with local law enforcement teams.

We continue to be honored and humbled to work with OKC Police Department, state law enforcement agencies, Joint Terrorism Task Force and the FBI on matters that involve national security and the protection of this national treasure. Law Enforcement agencies showed us again the standard of their great work.

The Memorial & Museum remain a very safe place to visit and is monitored by a security team 24/7.”

  18. Bombshell: Man says he had encounter with Christine Ford just like the one she describes
By LU Staff November 6, 2018

he story of an unwanted sexual encounter decades ago in which the accuser was hazy on all details except that the identity of the 17-year-old who forced himself on her has been unraveling now for weeks. On Saturday we learned that another woman who had claimed Brett Kavanaugh raped her admitted to having invented her sordid tale “to get attention.” Two weeks before that, accuser Julie Swetnick and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, were referred for criminal investigation by Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley based on new evidence suggesting that Swetnick had been lying.

Now a new loose thread has emerged that may undo Christine Blasey Ford’s account once and for all. Fox News reports that a 414-page document, authored by the Republican majority and released over the weekend, includes a summary of a statement made by a man who believes he may have been involved in an encounter with Ford around the time of her claim of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh.

  19. Japan: Erdogan ‘convinced’ Saudi King not involved in Khashoggi murder – Cavusolgu

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said his country did not believe orders to murder Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi came from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, during a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Speaking at Japan’s National Press Club, Mevlut Cavusoglu said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was “convinced that King Salman had no involvement in this murder,” adding that “he is not a person that instructs people to kill his own citizens.”

    • Combination of heavy Israeli intelligence fed directly to PT (via Jared) plus payoff to Turk from Saudis.

No one in the region cared; it’s strictly a Western media construct. Which tells us that Western media is full-bore MB. That’s important to remember as CAIR and ISNA have begun fielding candidates to political office.

While no one was paying attention, the Turk has significantly damaged the Kurds. Our govt is going to throw them under the bus, let Manbij fall. That’s not going to be entirely cost free for us. Jihadis who would’ve fallen to the Kurds will bite us where we live.

  20. Portugal: UN chief Guterres urges ban on autonomous weapons

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned against the dangers of “machines that have the powers and the discretion to take human lives”, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Web Summit technology conference in Lisbon on Monday.

The UN chief claimed that such machines are “politically unacceptable” and “morally impudent”.

He also added that the web cannot be “blamed” for creating populism and polarisation, though it amplifies those issues. Guterres called for the mobilisation of the government and for civil society to create “filters” against hate speech and the manipulation of elections.

The Web Summit will last until the November 8 with an estimated 70,000 people taking part in the event.

    • On Election Day, the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower is blasting Facebook for still not doing enough

Christopher Wylie knows a bit about voter manipulation.

The whistleblower who sounded the alarm about Facebook’s data vulnerabilities in the 2016 election cycle isn’t done yelling — even on Election Day 2018.

Christopher Wylie blasted the social network on Tuesday as insufficiently attentive to the problems first revealed in the last election. Calling out Facebook for “making a digital clone of our society,” Wylie described Facebook as similar to the European giant that centuries ago plundered the resources of its colonial subjects.

“This is a story of colonialism. Facebook is our generation’s East India Company,” Wylie said during an onstage interview at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. “The problem is that our government is not equipped to handle this.”

He was unsparing of U.S. politicians asked to keep that plunderer in check. While he said he did not regret coming forward, Wylie was clearly agitated by the lack of action in the aftermath of his bombshell revelations.

“We can regulate nuclear power,” he said. “Why can’t we regulate some fucking code?”

Wylie, of course, knows a bit about voter manipulation. In the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, Wylie worked at a data analytics firm called Cambridge Analytica — that Cambridge Analytica, the same firm that collected Facebook data from millions of people for profiling, and that some believe helped Donald Trump get elected president.

Wylie’s decision to go public with that information has caused a year of nightmares for Facebook. Cambridge Analytica has since shut down.

Wylie says he saw how Facebook data was collected and used to create psychological profiles of potential voters. It was personal information that made it easier for those Facebook users to be manipulated or pushed toward a particular political view.

Coupling that profile information with Facebook’s algorithms — the software used to determine what you see and don’t see in your Feed — can be dangerous, he said.

“When you look at what the alt-right is and what the role of Cambridge Analytica was in catalyzing the alt-right — it’s an insurgency. It was built to be an insurgency,” Wylie said. “People who were vulnerable to disinformation were profiled and targeted using the same kinds of techniques and tactics the military would use against ISIS.”

Wylie says that the game plan was to find potential supporters of alt-right causes and encourage them to visit alt-right pages or groups on Facebook. That would signal to Facebook that these people wanted to see more of that type of content, creating a feedback loop.

“Facebook’s algorithms were, at least at the time, very sensitive,” he added. “So if you brought people onto Pages, the News Feed would change. And Facebook would do half of the work for you.”

Facebook has spent the better part of the past two years trying to avoid this from happening ahead of Tuesday’s 2018 midterms elections. It has not only tweaked its algorithm to favor friend updates over those of publishers and pages, but it’s still taking down organized efforts from other countries trying to spread this divisive content.

Facebook removed a group of 115 Facebook and Instagram accounts late Monday night that U.S. law enforcement agencies “believe may be linked to foreign entities.” Just 24 hours before the U.S. elections, there are still foreign groups trying to manipulate voters on Facebook.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel received the ‘Golden Victoria’ award for political leadership from the Association of German Magazine Publishers (VDZ) on Monday night in Berlin.

SOT, Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: “From financial turmoil to terrorists attacks to national disasters to violent conflict – we live in a troubled and turbulent world that never seems to slow down. Yet, time and again, the chancellor’s calm resilience and resolve have enabled Germany not just to charter safe course but to help guide the global community through the storm.”

SOT, Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: “I also know that the issue of immigration is controversial today in Germany. Only you can decide for yourselves, what path you will take from here. But as someone looking at Germany from the outside in and as someone from a country that knows very well the strain a massive influx of refugees can impose, I want to express how grateful Jordanians and the rest of the world are for Germanys courage.”

SOT, Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: “Imagine how different the global landscape might look, if Chancellor Merkel’s moral compass was the norm. Imagine the rights, that would have been protected, the suffering that might have been avoided, the crises that might have been averted, the lives that might have been saved.”

SOT, Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: “Despite her many years in office, her brand of leadership seems more unique today than ever, it is also more desperately needed and more valuable.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “That journalists can work freely, also means that they can work free of fear, free of threats and violence. It is sad to have to emphasise that.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): “Everyone of us who feels obliged to democratic values and human rights, cannot and mustn’t accept that journalists are verbally abused, threatened or attacked. “Irish singer and songwriter, who recently converted to Islam, posted a controversial Twitter message, which gathered hundreds of angry and puzzled responses from members of Muslim and non-Muslim communities alike.

Sinead O’Connor, who has been reportedly posting under the name of Shuhada’ Davitt, following her conversion, has now shared her feelings towards non-Muslims. Her tweet that emerged at 2.01 AM on Tuesday read:

    https://www.turkishminute.com/2018/11/06/94-detention-warrants-issued-over-gulen-links-in-one-day-49-detained/

“Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday issued detention warrants for 94 people as part of a crackdown on followers of the faith-based Gülen movement, with police detaining 49 suspects in a large number of provinces.

The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday issued detention warrants for 56 people over their alleged links to the Gülen movement. Police detained 30 of them during raids in 26 provinces.

Turkish authorities believe the movement orchestrated a coup attempt in 2016, although it denies any involvement.

Some 140,000 public servants have been dismissed and more than 600,000 people investigated on accusations of terrorism since the failed coup.

Police took 13 people into custody in operations in 10 provinces after the issuance of detention warrants for 26 people by the ?stanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

A statement from prosecutor’s office indicated that these people were using ByLock, a smart phone application regarded as a communication tool among followers of the movement.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday issued detention warrants for 12 people over Gülen links, seven of whom are active-duty military personnel and five were dismissed from the military by government decrees during a now-ended two-year-long state of emergency declared immediately after the coup attempt.

Also, police detained six people in Kahramanmara? province, including military officers, over their alleged links to the movement.”

  24. A plea for poop: With jar of feces by his side, Bill Gates urges safe disposal of human waste

Placing a jar of feces on a pedestal next to him, billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates made a plea Tuesday for the safe disposal of human waste as he kicked off a “Reinvented Toilet” Expo in China.

“You might guess what’s in this beaker — and you’d be right. Human feces,” the former CEO of software giant Microsoft said. “This small amount of feces could contain as many as 200 trillion rotavirus cells, 20 billion Shigella bacteria, and 100,000 parasitic worm eggs.”

He went on to say that pathogens like these cause diseases that kill nearly 500,000 children under the age of 5 every year.

More than 20 companies and academic institutions are exhibiting new toilet technologies at the three-day expo in Beijing, from self-contained toilets to a small-scale, self-powered waste treatment plant called the Omni Processor.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that Gates co-founded with his wife has spent more than $200 million since 2011 to stimulate research and development of safe sanitation technology.

“The technologies you’ll see here are the most significant advances in sanitation in nearly 200 years,” he said, according to a text of his prepared remarks.

UNICEF estimates that 4.5 billion people worldwide do not have access to safely managed sanitation, and that 480,000 children under 5 die every year from diarrhea, primarily in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. There is an economic cost too: Poor sanitation cost the world nearly $223 billion in 2015, according to a study by Oxford Economics and Japanese toilet-maker Lixil.

Gates left the feces on display for about 10 minutes before removing it, his point made.

  25. At the conservative American Priority Conference this December, marketing consultant Tom Shadilay will host a breakout session titled “The Left Can’t Meme: The Future of MAGA Memetics.”

The goal, according to Shadilay, who calls himself “a free speech absolutist,” will be to teach attendees how to package memes and other social media-friendly content so they can more effectively blast populist rhetoric across the Internet. The event lists Shadilay’s name alongside speakers like President Trump’s former economic advisor Stephen Moore and campaign advisor George Papadopoulos, signaling the growing importance memes hold for Republican operatives.

“We saw in the election how effective social media messaging was and that maybe there’s some information there that people could learn from,” Shadilay told Observer. “Basically, what I’m hoping to do is let people know there’s a ton of ways which messaging can be disseminated.”

German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said on Monday that he was temporarily relieving former domestic spy chief Hans-Georg Maassen of his duties after Maassen made “unacceptable remarks” in a farewell speech to representatives of international intelligence agencies. Seehofer, who has previously supported Maassen, said that a “cooperation based on mutual trust” was no longer possible in view of the remarks.

Maassen’s critical view of the government’s policy on refugees, as further revealed in the comments he made in the speech on October 18, has highlighted and contributed to rifts within Germany’s coalition over the past few months.

    Controversial remarks

In his address, Maassen spoke about “radical left-wing elements” in the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the junior partner in the ruling coalition, who had, he said, seized gladly upon his controversial remarks about protests in the eastern city of Chemnitz in August to provoke divisions in the government.

He also criticized Germany’s current policies on refugees and security as “naive and leftist.”

The text of the speech was made available on the intranet of the domestic intelligence agency BfV, from where it made its way into many hands.

Maassen, 55, came under fire from several quarters when he questioned well-documented reports of far-right violence against foreigners during the Chemnitz protests. There have also been media reports that he passed sensitive information about Islamic extremism to the anti-immigration and anti-Islam Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

The outcry prompted the government to fire Maassen as the head of the BfV. An initial compromise between Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU) and the SPD would have seen Maassen essentially promoted to deputy interior minister. But that deal met with such opposition both from politicians and the public that he was instead to be made a consultant reporting directly to Seehofer.

    ‘Too late’

The chair of the opposition Left party, Kaja Kipping, criticized Seehofer’s move as tardy.

“The firing is overdue, but has come too late to repair the damage that the Groko has done to itself with the Maassen affair,” she told AFP news agency, using a common German abbreviation for “grand coalition.”

The domestic affairs expert for the Greens, Konstantin von Notz, welcomed Maassen’s virtual dismissal, but also called the move “too late” and attacked Seehofer.

“The interior minister is fully responsible for this disaster,” he said, adding that Maassen himself had made thousands of BfV staff jointly liable “for his conspiracy theories and resentment toward politics and media.”

The AfD responded to the news by offering Maassen the chance to join its ranks.

“He would fit well into a democratic, constitutional party like the AfD,” chair Jörg Meuthen told newspapers of the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, and also described Maassen as “a conscientious, excellent and thorough public official.”

NYT – German Minister Fires Divisive Spy Chief, but Still Faces Calls to Step Down

BERLIN — Germany’s interior minister faced calls for his resignation on Tuesday, after his dismissal of a spy chief who had given fuel to right-wing and anti-immigrant sentiment failed to end a monthslong controversy that weakened the government.

The intelligence chief, Hans-Georg Maassen, became a hero to the growing far right in September, when he contradicted Chancellor Angela Merkel and questioned the validity of a video showing anti-immigrant protesters in the city of Chemnitz chasing people who appeared to be immigrants. At the time, Interior Minister Horst Seehofer — who has advocated a harder line on immigration than Ms. Merkel has — proposed moving Mr. Maassen to a position in his ministry, but resisted calls to fire him.

But it recently emerged that Mr. Maassen had blamed “radical-left forces” in the coalition government for plotting his demotion from the intelligence post he held for six years. He made that statement last month in a speech to a group of European colleagues, but it was only in the last few days that transcripts of his remarks appeared in the German news media.

The comments were “unacceptable” and “crossed a line,” and “precluded trusting cooperation,” Mr. Seehofer said in announcing on Monday afternoon that Mr. Maassen would be dismissed from government service.

That did not quell criticism of Mr. Seehofer from political figures who said he should long ago have dismissed Mr. Maassen, whose words and actions prompted questions about whether Germany’s intelligence apparatus could be counted on to police the far right. On Tuesday, there were calls for Mr. Seehofer’s resignation from opposition lawmakers who sit on the parliamentary control committee, which oversees the country’s intelligence agencies and is expected to discuss both the spy chief and the interior minister during its scheduled meeting later in the day.

André Hahn, a Left party member, said that Mr. Seehofer posed “a threat to democracy.” Konstantin von Notz, a lawmaker of the Greens party, said that Mr. Seehofer “had been untenable for months for several reasons,” and compared the interior ministry to a rudderless ship, according to the German Press Agency.

Mr. Seehofer, leader of the Bavarian conservatives who are a part of Ms. Merkel’s coalition, had directly challenged her authority, trying to steer the government in a more anti-migrant direction and to fend off a challenge from the far-right party Alternative for Germany, known as AfD.

Instead, his seeming inability to censure Mr. Maassen was one of the reasons voters gave for the severe losses suffered by the conservatives in regional elections in two states last month. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 A recent national opinion poll showed the alliance of Ms. Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats and Mr. Seehofer’s Christian Social Union with the support of just 24.5 percent of the electorate, down from the 32.9 percent they won in last year’s general election, and the 41.5 percent they won in 2013.

Mr. Maassen had appeared to give cover to the right-wing demonstrators who rioted in Chemnitz, not only doubting the authenticity of the video but also questioning the chancellor’s use of the word “hounding” to describe the mob’s behavior.

Mr. Maassen had already faced criticism for what was seen as improper contact with the AfD, after allegations that he had coached members of the party on how to avoid his agency’s scrutiny.

Rather than fire Mr. Maassen in September, Mr. Seehofer said he would promote him to the post of state secretary in his ministry, with a significant pay raise, but he reversed that decision in the face of widespread outrage. Instead, Mr. Seehofer set out to shift Mr. Maassen to a lesser ministry post, but this week he abandoned that plan.

On Monday, Mr. Seehofer emphasized that his latest decision to let Mr. Maassen go signaled his willingness to advance the work of the governing coalition, which appears more fragile than ever since Ms. Merkel announced last week that she would give up her party’s leadership in December and would not run for another term as chancellor.

Thomas Haldenwang, previously a vice president of the domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, is to take over Mr. Maassen’s duties until a permanent successor is appointed.

In his leaked speech, Mr. Maassen presented himself as a victim of politics. He said that he was known as a “critic of idealistic, naïve and left-wing policy on foreigners and security,” and that this is why the news media and his opponents pushed him out of his job.

He also hinted that he might be interested in going into politics, and at least one party jumped at the chance to embrace him. Jörg Meuthen, a senior member of the AfD, told the German daily Welt, “We are a democratic constitutional party and Mr. Maassen would be very welcome in a democratic constitutional party.”

  29. President Donald Trump created the first national park to honor black people who fought in the Civil War with the designation of Camp Nelson in Nicholasville, Kentucky, as the nation’s newest National Monument.
The media paid little attention, but President Trump signed the proclamation on October 26 making Camp Nelson a national monument, Daily Wire noted.

“Camp Nelson was one of the largest Union Army recruitment centers for African American Union soldiers, then known as United States Colored Troops,” Trump’s proclamation states. “During the war, thousands of enslaved African Americans risked their lives escaping to Camp Nelson, out of a deep desire for freedom and the right of self-determination. Today, the site is one of the best-preserved landscapes and archeological sites associated with United States Colored Troops recruitment and the refugee experiences of African American slaves seeking freedom during the Civil War.”

  30. Louis Farrakhan, Live from Tehran
Democrats’ favorite hatemonger leads “Death to America and Israel!” chants in the Islamic Republic.

    Lloyd Billingsley

Monday November 5, one day before the election, marked the resumption of sanctions on the Islamic regime by the Trump administration. Nation of Islam boss Louis Farrakhan flew to Iran to speak out on behalf of the ruling mullahs.

As Fox News reported, Farrakhan told Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council: “Today, I warn the American government that sanctioning Iran is a big mistake.” The eager Farrakhan failed to flag any mistakes by the Iranian Islamic regime, the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism. And Farrakhan took care to time his visit with an important event.

Thirty-nine years ago, in 1979, the Islamic regime of the Ayatollah Khomeini invaded the U.S. embassy in Tehran, took more than 50 American diplomats and civilians hostage, and held them for 444 days. Farrakhan marked the anniversary by telling law students at the University of Tehran, that “America has never been a democracy” and then led the students in a chants of “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!”

No one in America had ever seen a performance quite like that. On the other hand, in his live Tehran show the Nation of Islam boss was not advancing any new themes.

  31. NEW YORK – A Bangladeshi immigrant who set off a pipe bomb in New York City’s busiest subway station at rush hour has been convicted of terrorism charges.

The verdict against Akayed Ullah was returned on Tuesday in Manhattan federal court.

The defense said Ullah intended to kill only himself last Dec. 11. Nobody died and most of the injuries were not serious.

Prosecutors said he wanted to maim or kill commuters as part of a “lone wolf” terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State group.

They disputed the defense claim, saying Ullah would not have worn a bomb had he wanted to kill only himself.

If you think immigration enforcement is expensive, try not enforcing it.

There are over 12,000 American military personnel stationed in Italy. It’s a larger active-duty military presence than Afghanistan. We maintain seven bases in Italy at a cost of billions of dollars.

But as President Trump dispatched a mere 5,000 troops, the first wave of a reported 15,000, to secure the border against the migrant caravan invasion, the media threw a tantrum over the cost.

The Washington Post warned darkly that the deployment could cost as much as… $200?million. That would be more impressive if our annual defense budget weren’t hovering around $600 billion.

And those are only the parts that we know about.

To put that into perspective, President Trump has proposed that we spend 0.03% of our military budget on the core mission of the military, protecting our own borders from an invasion. It’s as if he had suggested that we spend at least 0.03% of NASA’s budget on space exploration, instead of global warming and Muslim self-esteem, or 0.03% of the Department of Education’s budget on education instead of on closely monitoring the sexual habits and Halloween costumes of college students.

  35. Is The Anti-Iran Front Still Viable?
What the U.S. has to do to push back the Mullahs’ ambitions.
    November 6, 2018
    Joseph Puder

Israel’s current preoccupation with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the Jamal Khashoggi murder in Istanbul, have diverted attention from the nefarious activities carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran throughout the Middle East, and particularly in Syria. For now, the above developments have put on hold the anti-Iran alliance the Trump administration has been pressing for last month, and has given the Iranian regime a respite. The downing of the Russian spy plane over Syria by the Assad regime, which was initially blamed on Israel, has impacted somehow on the previous understanding between Israel and Putin’s Russia. In the meantime, Russia has supplied the Assad regime with the S-300 Missile defense system. Israel has significantly reduced its operations in Syria, which enabled Iran to increase its activities inside Syria, and foment trouble in Gaza.

The recently imposed U.S. sanctions against Iran have had a deleterious impact on the Iranian economy. It has placed the regime of the Ayatollahs in a defensive mode. A second wave of U.S. sanctions commenced on November 5th, 2018, targeting Iran’s energy, shipping, and shipbuilding sectors, as well as transactions with the Central Bank of Iran. The aim of this set of sanctions is to deprive the Iranian regime of funds to advance their nuclear program, and the development of ballistic missiles. The Iranian people, in an unprecedented wave of protests that spread throughout Iran’s major cities, and in spite of severe consequences, demanded that the regime invest in Iran, and the Iranian people. The protesters charged the regime with enabling the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to waste the nation’s oil revenue and the $150 billion it received as a “bonus” from the Obama administration (for agreeing to sign the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) on imperial schemes. They have argued that the money should be invested at home instead of spending it in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

  36. Yes, Unvetted Illegal Caravans Threaten Public Health
While legal immigrants are subjected to medical screenings.
    November 6, 2018
    Michelle Malkin

We live in bizarro times. Suddenly, it is controversial to state obvious, neon-bright truths. This week, it has become newsworthy to observe that illegal border-crossers who circumvent required medical screenings are a threat to America’s public health and safety.

Just look at these hyperventilating headlines and tweets.

From Newsweek, which is supposed to, you know, report actual news of the week: “‘We don’t know what people have’: Laura Ingraham calls migrant caravan a health issue.”

And from The Daily Beast: “Fox & Friends Host Brian Kilmeade Fears ‘Diseases’ Brought By Migrant Caravan.”

This is not “news.” It’s propaganda recycled and regurgitated by lazy political operatives masquerading as journalists. At least the Newsweek writer gave credit to his zealous hitmen sources: “Ingraham’s comments,” he dutifully wrote, “were first highlighted by Media Matters for America.”

MMfA is a militant left-wing oppo research outfit funded by progressive billionaire George Soros. Somehow, not-really-Newsweek forgot to mention this fact. (Alas, mentioning Soros subsidies has also become a forbidden act this week, but that’s another story.) The determined intent of these “news” pieces is not to inform readers but to inflame them with the dog-whistle assumption that conservatives, Fox personalities and ordinary Americans who worry about diseases from immigration are de facto racists.
