“Tensions between Tehran and its Arab neighbors escalated this week after Iranian officials accused Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the United States and Israel, of being responsible for a deadly terror attack during a military parade in the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz last weekend.

Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps deputy commander Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami has warned Riyadh and Abu Dhabi not to cross Tehran’s “red lines.”

“If you cross our red lines, we will surely cross yours. You know the storm the Iranian nation can create,” Salami said in a speech during Friday prayers, as cited by Reuters.

“Stop creating plots and tensions. You are not invincible. You are sitting in a glass house and cannot tolerate the revenge of the Iranian nation…We have shown self-restraint,” Salami added.

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201809281068414057-syria-germany-israel-attack/

“German police special forces detained a 21-year-old Syrian citizen, suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in Israel, in a Berlin cafe, Bild newspaper reported Thursday.

The Syrian national was plotting a chemical attack, and he was also recruiting people in order to commit a terrorist act, according to the German newspaper Bild.

Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service received a tip from a foreign ally on the suspect and passed along the data to local authorities, who began tapping his phone, the newspaper added.

Berlin police reported that the 21-year-old Syrian was detained by special forces last week after getting involved in a brawl.

The Syrian has been placed in a detention facility.”

      • There’s nothing Assad would like more than a plausibly deniable terrorist attack on Israel. _Especially_ with CW procured in Germany.

        • I think that you underestimate Assad. While he is no friend of Israel he has bigger fish to fry (sunni and shiite piranhas) and he know that he can ignore the Golan heights border safely thanks to Israel. IMO he is being sensible about Israel, not for any love of Jews but because of the predictable stability and security Israel provides.

  8. Swedish Military Resists Feminists’ Push for ‘Multicultural’ Spelling Alphabet (sputniknews, Sep 28, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/viral/201809281068413149-sweden-feminist-alphabet/

“While feminists push for adding names like Khaled, Doris and Laila into the phonetic alphabet to promote “inclusion,” the military suggests this step would endanger communication as the phonetic alphabet must “sit in the backbone.”

The official Swedish spelling alphabet used by the military and the police, is not sufficiently “equal” or “diverse” and must be enhanced with female and Arabic names, the Frederika Bremer Association and the Equalisters NGO demanded in an opinion piece published in Sweden’s leading daily Dagens Nyheter.

The spelling alphabet, also known as the radio alphabet and the telephone alphabet, is a set of words used to denote certain letters to avoid misunderstanding in oral communication. The Swedish spelling alphabet originated in 1891 and consists of traditional Swedish names like Adam, Bertil, Erik, Sigurd, Tore and Yngve.

The feminist groups want to replace the men’s names in the alphabet to become more “inclusive” and better reflect Sweden’s increasingly multicultural society. According to the feminists, there is “no excuse” for having names representing Swedish men exclusively.

“Including more than just men with traditional Swedish names is important to visualize the diversity of society. We need to be able to speak with a language that is everybody’s. The government needs to be open and inclusive,” they wrote…”

    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2018/09/27/muslim-mob-stones-three-christians-death-kenya/

“An Islamist mob stoned three Christians to death in western Kenya this week in apparent retaliation for the recent killing of three suspected al Shabaab militants.

An eyewitness said that the killing happened at a construction site where one of the Christian victims, Fredrick Mukanda Bahati, was building a house along with two assistants. The men were mixing mortar in Elwak, Mandera, a town close to the Kenya-Somalia border, when they saw the mob arriving.

“From a distance, I saw the men hurling construction stones towards Fredrick and his coworkers,” the unnamed witness said.

“The three managed to flee into a nearby hotel for safety, although they had been badly injured. The Muslims relentlessly followed them up and stoned them to death,” he said.

The witness said that the mob was chanting “takbir, takbir, takbir,” the title for the Arabic phrase “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is greatest).

The brutal killing has left the local community stunned and angry.

“We are not safe at all and this incident shows how Muslims hate believers in Christ,” said a local Christian pastor, who said he was “shocked” at the attack.

“We have known it is the armed militants belonging to the al-Shabaab that kill people, but now we have discovered that even our close Muslim friends can commit atrocities against us.”…”

A Taiwanese “white hat” hacker claims he’ll broadcast himself hacking Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook page on Sunday, reports Bloomberg. Writing in a Facebook post to his 26,000 followers, Chang Chi-yuan promised to delete the Facebook founder’s account, and broadcast himself doing so on Facebook Live. Chang is a well-known hacker in Taiwan, according to Bloomberg.

Chang, and his Facebook page, are listed as a “Special Contributor” in Line Corp.’s bug bounty hall of fame for 2016, and was reportedly sued by a local bus operator for hacking into its system and buying a ticket for a single Taiwanese dollar (equivalent to 3 US cents). The hacker has also posted screenshots of Facebook’s responses to his bug reports.

  13. Is Trump Eyeing A Coup In Venezuela?

The Trump administration and some others in the U.S. government have sent some not-so-subtle hints lately that they are open to a military invasion of Venezuela to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

“It’s a regime that frankly could be toppled very quickly by the military, if the military decides to do that,” President Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

The words seem to offer some encouragement for a coup, which may not come as a surprise because the New York Times published an investigation in early September that found that the Trump administration met secretly with Venezuelan military officers over the last year to discuss an overthrow of Maduro.

Venezuela is in tatters and there have been previous signs that Maduro’s grip is tenuous, including the renegade helicopter pilot earlier this year and the bizarre scene in which drones exploded during a military parade in August near Maduro.

In other words, the threat of a coup has been rising for some time.

  14. US ambassador calls for Maduro ouster with megaphone diplomacy

United Nations (United States) (AFP) – The US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, on Thursday joined Venezuelan protesters outside the world body headquarters and called for the ouster of President Nicolas Maduro.

Haley’s embrace of demonstrators was highly unusual for a diplomat from a major power at the staid United Nations and came a day after President Donald Trump hinted at military options against Maduro’s leftist government.

“We are going to fight for Venezuela and we are going to continue doing it until Maduro is gone!” Haley shouted from a megaphone.

“We need your voices to be loud and I will tell you, the US voice is going to be loud,” she said.

Haley said she visited the border with Colombia, which has accepted more than one million Venezuelans fleeing an economic freefall including hyperinflation.

“What we saw is what no one should live … while Maduro is eating in nice restaurants.”

  15. Caravans of migrants continue pouring over US-Mexico border

Border Patrol agents are apprehending an increasing number of migrant groups that include more than 100 people on the northern side of the U.S.-Mexico border, and recorded two more incidents this week.

The total number of people found in large caravans wandering through southern Arizona in recent weeks now stands at 1,200, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Agents based at Ajo Station in south-central Arizona found a group of 164 people and another that included about 100 people in the desert just north of Mexican city Sonoyta Tuesday afternoon, a press release issued Thursday stated.

Every person in the group was taken in by federal law enforcement agents and determined to be from three Central American countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. The caravan members were between the ages of 11 months and 59 years.

Human smugglers flooded a portion of the Texas-Mexico border with 170 Central American families and children last week in an attempt to overwhelm U.S. Border Patrol and get adults who wanted to avoid getting arrested into the country while agents were busy elsewhere, CBP said in a statement.

Francois Legault, leader of the Coalition Avenir Quebec party, speaks during a news conference following a debate in Montreal on Sept. 13, 2018.

TORONTO – Days before a provincial election in Quebec, a center-right party promising to slash immigration and to kick out all immigrants who fail tests of “values” and the French language is in a dead heat with the incumbent Liberals who have governed the province for most of the past 15 years.

The Coalition Avenir Quebec, a party led by businessman Francois Legault, is tied with premier Philippe Couillard’s Liberals, with each party supported by 30 percent of decided voters, according to a poll by Ipsos for La Presse and Global News. That makes it likely the Oct. 1 election will produce a minority government.

This year’s contest will be the first in nearly six decades where the “national question” – whether French-speaking Quebec should separate from the rest of Canada – is not a campaign issue. But those bitter independence battles have morphed into acrimonious fights over immigration and perceived threats to Quebec’s francophone identity.

  17. Violence spurs support for a radical in once-calm southern Brazil

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (Reuters) – For decades, this southern metropolis stood apart from the rest of Brazil.

Compared with Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, nevermind troubled cities in Brazil’s poor northeast, Porto Alegre enjoyed lower crime and homicide rates, and a reputation for wealth and tranquility. Its residents, most of European descent, prided themselves on a clean, prosperous and progressive hometown.

In recent years, though, Porto Alegre has become more like the rest of Brazil – wracked by recession, political instability and social ills including rising poverty and soaring crime. Porto Alegre’s murder rate, fueled in part by the rapid spread of drug gangs, has reached nearly double the national average.

So, just days before a presidential election in Latin America’s biggest democracy, people in the city of almost 1.5 million people want drastic change. And in the candidacy of Jair Bolsonaro, a far-right Congressman long considered an outlier from the political fringe, many see what they’re looking for.

  18. Argentina’s economic woes exacerbate the misery of slum life

Buenos Aires (AFP) – Drug gangs and addicts are a common scourge in the Villa Zavaleta slum in Buenos Aires, where even before the recent economic crisis brought them to their knees, the 1,200 families faced a daily struggle just to eat.

Rubbish and excrement fill the streets where a dog chews on a cow’s jaw bone and a drugged woman staggers about.

“Many people lost their work. Here, we live off not much: solidarity and part-time jobs,” says Alejandra Diaz, who runs the slum’s La Poderosa charity, an organization working throughout the city’s shantytowns.

Some 90 percent of Villa Zavaleta’s residents are struck by poverty while only 10 percent have a fully declared job, often for a waste disposal company.

At “Nelly’s Diner” on Iriarte Avenue, the 60-year-old owner, Nelly Vargas, serves more than 300 free meals a day alongside 16 other charity workers.

  19. Clinton accuser calls Dems’ treatment of Kavanaugh ‘biggest double standard’

A woman who has accused former President Bill Clinton of rape is calling Democrats treatment of Brett Kavanaugh the biggest double standard she has ever seen.

In an interview Thursday, Jaunita Broaddrick said she had all the evidence in her case, but Democrats refused to believe her.

She specifically called out Senators Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein. Broaddrick said they quickly believed Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations, but did not consider her accusations despite the evidence.

She claimed Clinton raped her in 1978 when he was the Arkansas attorney general.

At a rally in support of Kavanaugh, she criticized Democrats for not listening to her:

  20. Iranian Revolutionary Guards warns Saudi Arabia, UAE to respect its ‘red lines’

LONDON (Reuters) – Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) told Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Friday to respect Tehran’s “red lines” or face retaliation, as the United States and its Gulf allies increase pressure on Tehran to curb its regional influence.

Iran accuses Saudi Arabia and the UAE of funding five gunmen who attacked a military parade in Iran last Saturday and killed 25 people, 12 of them members of the elite IRGC. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have denied any involvement.

“If you cross our red lines, we will surely cross yours. You know the storm the Iranian nation can create,” the Fars news agency quoted Brigadier General Hossein Salami, deputy head of the Guards, as saying.

Addressing worshippers attending Friday prayers in Tehran, Salami said in a strongly-worded speech: “Stop creating plots and tensions. You are not invincible. You are sitting in a glass house and cannot tolerate the revenge of the Iranian nation… We have shown self-restraint.”

By LU Staff September 27, 2018

This isn’t the Lindsey Graham most Republicans would think of today, if asked to give a 25-word summary of his typical demeanor and attitudes.

The left’s relentless attacks on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, assisted and often driven by Graham’s Democratic colleagues, seem to have galvanized him. During the long hearing on Thursday, for which Kavanaugh and accuser Christine Blasey Ford were witnesses, Graham spoke out with anger twice to excoriate the tactics deployed by the Democrats.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford said during at Thursday’s hearing that she could be more “helpful” if the FBI investigated her allegation of sexual assault against the judge.

“You specifically asked for an FBI investigation, did you not?” Democratic Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse asked Ford during the hearing.

    “Yes,” she responded.

The sex crimes prosecutor tasked with questioning Christine Blasey Ford during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh told Republican senators on Thursday that Ford’s claims and the lack of corroborative evidence were not strong enough to take the case to a courtroom.

Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell spoke at a late-night Thursday meeting with the Republican caucus, where she briefed all 51 GOP members, according to The Washington Post. Based on the evidence presented during the hearing, Mitchell reportedly said that she would not have prosecuted Kavanaugh.

“Mitchell spelled it out and was clear with senators that she could not take this anywhere near a courtroom,” a source told Fox News. In fact, Mitchell reportedly said she would not even pursue a search warrant.

The prosecutor’s guidance may be especially important for Republican senators who have yet to make a decision on how to vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona confirmed on Friday that he will vote in favor of Kavanaugh, however, key Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have yet to announce their intentions. Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota are also reportedly still on the fence.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

  25. Welcome to Sanctuary Sweden!

    by Judith Bergman

Are you in a European country illegally, flouting your deportation order and committing arson? No problem. If the country to which you are to be returned might conceivably harm you, instead you are welcome to stay in Sweden, commit more crimes and harm Swedes.

A Swedish Court of Appeal recently overturned the deportation ruling against one of three convicted perpetrators of an arson attack against the synagogue of Gothenburg in December 2017, on the grounds that it would be in contravention of his “fundamental human rights”.

The 22-year old Arab man from Gaza, known as Feras, was in Sweden illegally when he committed the attack. His asylum request had been rejected by the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket); he had apparently been told to leave the country, but he did not. For reasons that are unclear, he was not held for deportation, but still walking around freely in Sweden.

Feras used that freedom to participate in an attack on the Gothenburg synagogue. Approximately 10-15 other young men, of whom only three were charged, joined him. It seems that while young Jews were gathered for a party in an adjacent building, Feras and his friends threw burning objects at cars parked inside the synagogue fence. No one was hurt and the fires were quickly extinguished by rain, leaving only marginal material damage. The court therefore refused to categorize the crime as attempted murder, as the prosecution had requested. Both the lower court and the Court of Appeal did find, however, that the arson attack constituted an anti-Semitic hate crime.

Christine Blasey Ford, Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, told the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday that the office of the committee’s own ranking Democrat, Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), helped select her lead attorney.

“Dr. Ford, in choosing attorneys, did anyone help you with the choice?” Rachel Mitchell, the Phoenix, Arizona, special victims division chief enlisted as outside counsel to take Ford’s testimony, asked.

“Various people referred me to lawyers that they knew in the Washington, DC-area,” Ford responded. “I asked some family members and friends and they referred me to like divorce attorneys that might know somebody … I ended up interviewing several law firms from the DC-area.”

  27. Denmark on lockdown: Copenhagen police order car stopped at all costs in hunt for ‘kidnapper’

A major security operation is underway with unconfirmed reports that police are hunting for a “dangerous person” travelling in a Volvo – as links to Sweden and Germany are halted

Danish police shut major bridges to road and rail traffic and halted ferry services from Denmark to Sweden and Germany in a major operation ‘to find suspected kidnappers’ this afternoon.

Copenhagen police have given no detailed explanation for shutting down the Oresund Bridge – the famous link which gave its name to the TV series The Bridge – other than to say they are looking for three people.

However local media quote sources saying that authorities have launched a manhunt amid a so-called “kidnapping drama” in Denmark.

Police have only said they are looking for three people travelling in a Swedish-registered Volvo linked to a “serious crime” – and have warned the public not to approach them.

In a statement issued at around 3.30pm local time (2.30pm UK time) they said: “The Copenhagen Police, in connection with a current investigation, request a black Swedish registered Volvo V90 with registration number ZBP 546.

“In the vehicle there are probably 3 people who are in serious crime.

“Witnesses who observe the vehicle must contact the police immediately at 112.

    • “It is important that you do not even try to contact the people, but just observe and report what you see to the police.

“We can not say more right now but return as soon as possible.”

Earlier local media revealed a “major police action” was “in progress” – as word leaked out that a manhunt was underway and all major transport links were closed down.

Local media reports at first suggested police were hunting for a ‘dangerous offender’ in a Volvo registered in Sweden.

Thor Wilkens, a press spokesman at Copenhagen Police, earlier said: “We can not even say what it’s about.”

All traffic to and from the island of Zealand was said to be at a standstill according to local media – with the famous Oresund bridge closed in the direction of Sweden.

By 2pm local time it was reopened for rail traffic but car traffic was said to still be at a standstill at around 4pm.

A spokesman for Oresund Bridge Consortium told The Local: ”The only thing I can say at the moment is that we have closed at the request of police.”

The Great Belt Bridge linking the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen was also shut – along with other major rail links.

The ferry crossing at Helsingør-Helsingborg was briefly shut down but has now been opened again.

Sydsjælland and Lolland-Falster Police report that all of the ferries between Rødby-Puttgarden and Gedser-Rostock were closed.

The airport is understood to be still operational.

Meanwhile DSB earlier stated that there were no trains running to or from Zealand – although some rail traffic is understood to have restarted.

By 4.30pm local time (3.30pm UK time) local police said: “All transport links are now open again or on their way to being opened.”

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Germany to extradite supporters of a US-based Muslim cleric whom he blames for an attempted coup.

Speaking in Berlin, he said Germany should designate followers of Fethullah Gulen as terrorists.

Chancellor Angela Merkel told a news conference that Germany needed more evidence against the group.

She also urged Turkey to quickly resolve cases of German citizens imprisoned in Turkey.

“I have pressed for it and will continue to do so, that these cases can be solved quickly,” she said.

Mr Erdogan is on a three-day state visit to Germany try to improve strained ties between the two Nato allies. Relations have soured since Mr Erdogan launched a crackdown following the 2016 failed military coup.

  29. China’s Naval Success and Its Grand Strategy

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 961, September 28, 2018

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: US world power rests upon its ability to dominate the seas and the world’s commercial and military routes. Any power aspiring to a similar position goes against American geopolitical interests. China’s naval successes in the past decade or so therefore have far-reaching effects as the country is gradually becoming more experienced in military operations in far-flung regions across the globe.

A look at the map of China shows what the country’s geopolitical imperatives have been over the course of centuries.

Perhaps the first goal of all the successive Chinese dynasties was to gain and maintain control of the heartland – the Han core, which contains major Chinese rivers and is abundant with people and productive lands. The next logical goal was maintenance of influence over the buffer zones that surround the Han core. These consist of mountainous regions to the west, desert lands to the northwest, and impregnable forests to the south.

The third major imperative was historically to protect China’s coastline from foreign powers. However, because this threat was quite small in the ancient and medieval periods, the country did not see a need to develop powerful naval capabilities. In an age when there were no transcontinental trade routes and the only way to connect with the Middle East and Europe was the

  30. CBC – Tommy Robinson: Free speech activist or anti-Islam agitator?

Tommy Robinson has captured a global audience, posing as a free speech activist.

But many see him as simply an anti-Islam agitator.

CBC News has more on Robinson’s controversial views and the following he’s built.

    • SKY News – Exclusive: “I don’t care if I incite fear of Muslims”

Tommy Robinson told Sky News he doesn’t care whether his message “incites fear” of Muslims as long as it “prevents children from getting raped.”

In an exclusive interview with Sky News, the former English Defence League founder discussed a case in May last year where he was found guilty of contempt of court for videoing and expressing views about suspects in a sexual grooming case in Canterbury.

“If I believe I’m morally right then I’m not bothered about what your law says.” he said.

The right-wing activist – whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon – says he wanted to warn people about the men on trial in Canterbury, because they were on bail and he believed still posed a threat.

Since then he has received legal training but at the time he said he was not aware of contempt of court.

  31. EU Chief Backs Proposed U.N. Compact, Will ‘Enhance Legal Pathways’ for Mass Migration to Europe (breitbart, Sep 27, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/09/27/eu-commissioner-pledges-enhance-legal-pathways-managed-mass-migration/

“European Commissioner for migration Dimitris Avramopoulos has pledged to the United Nations that the European Union is working to “enhance legal pathways” to mass migration, with the Hungarian government condemning the commissioner for calling on member states to accept resettled migrants.

Commissioner Avramopoulos told the United Nations General Assembly on the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration Wednesday that the European Union (EU) is developing immigration systems to comply with UN’s proposed controversial Global Compact for Migration which aims to institutionalise mass migration at an international level.

“The European Union has made significant progress in developing all the building blocks of a comprehensive migration policy that are contributing to achieve many of the objectives for safe, orderly and regular migration,” he confirmed.

Acknowledging that illegal mass migration “remains a divisive topic across the globe”, Mr Avramopoulos denied that it could be stopped, telling delegates: “The reality, however, is that migration and human mobility are part of our history and are here to stay.”

“We have made a clear call to our Member States to enhance legal pathways to Europe,” he added, saying that it was “essential” to create “a better management of labour migration” in addition to reducing “irregular”, otherwise known as illegal, immigration.

The Brussels commissioner is also said to have urged EU members to honour their pledges to accept resettled migrants, with Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó later telling press: “Neither Hungary, nor the other countries of the Visegrád Group, nor any other European country wants to legalise illegal immigration.”

Calling it “unacceptable and outrageous” that Mr Avramopoulos spoke on behalf of the whole EU, despite “many countries” not wanting “resettlement programmes”, Mr. Szijjártó emphasised: “This is why we did not and accept and will not be accepting the UN Global Compact for Migration.”

In June, Mr Szijjártó condemned the proposed global compact, calling it the “African migration package” which benefits only Africa to the detriment of Europe, and in May he also rejected a joint European Union-African migration accord which he said was an “extremely pro-migration declaration” that “further inspires migration”.

Hungary, which contrary to the migration commissioner’s assertion that mass migration cannot be stopped had, in fact, cut illegal immigration through its borders by more than 99 percent, has been a vocal critic of supranational bodies’ and civil society groups’ attempts to enforce open borders and global free movement.

Earlier this month, the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned that plans by the EU to put Brussels in charge of national border protection and asylum policy would mean handing the “keys to the gate” of Europe to open borders eurocrats.

Morocco’s capital Marrakesh is set to host a conference on the 10th and 11th of December where the UN believes its members will accept the Global Compact for Migration.

The first attempt at an intergovernmentally negotiated agreement on immigration, the compact aims to protect the “human rights and fundamental freedoms of all migrants”, combat “xenophobia, racism and discrimination” towards migrants, and strengthen the “global governance” of migration through the UN and its bodies.”
