I have been warning about this becoming fact for some 20 years. The movie “the Island” is not purely fictional as there have been hints that something similar is available to the extremely wealthy and the donations to cloning and transplantation research are out of proportion to what you would expect. reuters – Italian court says League party funds can be seized
GENOA (Reuters) – An Italian court ruled on Thursday that prosecutors could seize funds belonging to Italy’s ruling League party, judicial sources said, in a case that could jeopardize the group’s future.
Prosecutors in Genoa can begin immediately to sequester up to 48.9 million euros ($56.8 million) in funds from accounts and businesses belonging to the party, one source said. The party can appeal against each single asset seizure.
The prosecution began looking for the money last year after the League’s founder and former leader, Umberto Bossi, was convicted for illegally using party funds to pay for family expenses from 2008 to 2010.
After that ruling, which is now under appeal, magistrates tracked down only about 3 million euros in the party’s accounts and judicial sources have said the other funds may have been shifted abroad to avoid seizure.
Giancarlo Giorgetti, a high-ranking member of the League, last week said the possible sequester of party funds in the future was a threat to the party’s existence.
But League leader Matteo Salvini, who is also deputy prime minister, played down the ruling on Thursday.
“I’m not the least bit upset because the trial regards things that happened eight, nine years ago,” Salvini told reporters.
“If they want to take everything away from us, we’ll still calmly remain in politics because Italians are with us,” he added.

Judges consider League fund confiscation
ANSA) – Genoa, September 5 – A hotly awaiting hearing on the confiscation of around 49 million euros from Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s League party concluded in Genoa on Wednesday and the judges are pondering their decision.
The case regards electoral-reimbursement fraud for the 2008-2010 period, before Salvini took the helm of the party in 2013. Former leader Umberto Bossi and other party members have been handed convictions in relation to the case. A ruling may be announced on Thursday.

A Democratic socialist candidate for New York state Senate whose biography was challenged in a recent expose is facing even more questions about her background — as her family calls out claims about her supposedly hardscrabble upbringing.
Julia Salazar, a progressive Democrat affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, has been touted as the next Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — who won a primary race against New York Rep. Joe Crowley. But her campaign was thrown into turmoil last month after an article in Tablet took issue with certain parts of her biography.
She had previously told multiple outlets she’s an immigrant from Colombia, saying her family came to the U.S. when she was young.
“My family immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia when I was a baby, and my mom ended up raising my brother and me as a single mom, without a college degree and from a working-class background,” Julia Salazar said in an interview with Jacobin Magazine.

Icahn administrators say the disparities in the selection process reflect deeper issues of racial inequality in medical education.

The subpoenas cover eight years’ worth of data — millions of documents. The subpoenas are “the most exhaustive on record” for elections officials, State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement attorney Josh Lawson said in an email to the assistant U.S. Attorney handing the case.
Complying by a Sept. 25 deadline will make it difficult for county officials to also prepare for the approaching November elections, Lawson said. More than 2 million of the ballots federal investigators demanded could potentially be connected to the people who cast them.

Patrols organized on weekend nights by the Muslim community have been credited with drastically reducing juvenile delinquency and crime in the Norwegian city of Kristiansand, national broadcaster NRK reported.
According to 2017 crime statistics, no fewer than 240 minors were registered for criminal offences in Kristiansand, Norway’s fifth-largest town. Of these, 108 were immigrants or second-generation immigrants. This prompted Kristiansand’s Muslim leaders to respond by taking to the streets and organizing their own anti-crime patrols.
“We tell the youngsters that fighting is not tough,” Talal Haydar, the chairman of the Muslim Union in Agder, and one of the initiators of the patrol routine, said. According to Haydar, they have “broad contacts” with local youths. “We are there to build a relationship with them. When the youth see our leaders go together with the police and support their work, they understand that it’s not ‘us and them,’ but ‘we,'” Haydar explained.
The police and the municipality, who previously had openly admitted to being powerless to reach out to the community’s at-risk teens, lavished praise on the Muslim vigilantes.
“This has had a phenomenal effect. [The youth] showed a completely different level of respect and listened to their leaders in a different way compared to the police,” Kristiansand police chief Ole Hortemo said, adding that the city has since “totally changed.”
Talal Haydar pointed out that many of the young people in minority communities have an unflattering image of the police. By his own admission, the Muslim leaders are working on changing this.
“These youngsters have grown up in a part of the world, where the police are seen as corrupt, and many have experienced a lot of nasty things and injustice,” Haydar explained.
According to the crime prevention coordinator at Kristiansand Municipality, Johanne Benites Nilsen, the city has become much quieter.
“A lot of credit is due to the [Muslim leaders]. We have engaged Muslim leaders and parents, which had a big effect, and we are dependent on it,” Nilsen said, pledging to increase the cooperation she found “useful.”
Kristiansand is a city in Vest-Agder County in southernmost Norway. People with immigrant backgrounds constitute over 15 percent of the city’s population of 90,000, with Poles, Somalis, Iraqis and Eritreans being the largest communities.”

“According to Immigration Minister Inger Støjberg, it is fully possible to interpret the Statelessness Convention in a new way, in order to prevent suspicious persons from gaining Danish citizenship.
For years, various Danish governments have maintained that the country’s international obligations make stateless foreigners eligible for Danish citizenship, regardless of whether the Security and Intelligence Service (PET) considers them a security threat. As former Social Democrat Justice Minister Karen Hækkerup put it in 2014, the law wasn’t “elastic,” and there was no way of changing it.
However, the incumbent government intends to put an end to this practice, reinterpreting the Convention on Statelessness in order to allow the Immigration Ministry to postpone granting citizenship to stateless individuals as long as PET labels them a risk to Denmark’s security, the daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten reported.
“I don’t want to be part of granting our citizenship to a single person who could endanger the Kingdom’s security. This is the problem we are solving now,” Immigration Minister Inger Støjberg of the Liberal Party said.
Since 2011, Danish citizenship has been provided to stateless individuals in spite of the PET’s warnings on at least two occasions. So far, the Convention on Statelessness has been interpreted in such a way, that refusal only was allowed if the seeker has been convicted of a crime against national security or sentenced to over five years in prison.
In the future, the PET’s suspicions will be enough to postpone granting citizenship for half a year at a time. The seeker will not be notified about this and won’t be able to appeal against the ruling to an independent body. Formally, the case will be “under consideration,” Støjberg explained.
“As long as PET keeps a potential terrorist in its sights, they will not receive our citizenship. If the PET subsequently finds out that everything is okay, the process will go on. I believe this is only fair,” Støjberg said.
The government’s proposal has been green-lit by the UN Refugee Organization (UNHCR). UNHCR Denmark spokesperson Elisabeth Haslund confirmed that the government’s plans are totally in line with the Convention on Statelessness…”

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team has sent a subpoena to veteran writer Jerome Corsi — the first publicly known effort to compel a journalist’s testimony in the Trump-Russia collusion investigation.
Corsi, whose work has been showcased for years in conservative outlets such as Human Events, World Net Daily and the InfoWars conspiracy site, says he will not fight the subpoena and plans to appear before the grand jury on Friday.

Who Caused The Mysterious Leak At The International Space Station?
Russian officials are saying that a tiny leak at the International Space Station was likely caused by a human hand. Now, they’re trying to figure out who did it, why they did it and whether it happened in space or on the ground.
The crew identified the source of the leak as a 2-millimeter hole in the upper section of a Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft, which is docked in the Russian section of the space station.
“We don’t reject any theories,” said Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s state space agency Roscosmos, according to state news agency TASS. He added that they’re aiming “to find out whether it was an accidental defect or a deliberate spoilage and where it was done … we will find out, without fail.”
And while Rogozin said they aren’t ruling out the possibility of sabotage, an accident seems more likely: “It seems to be done by a faltering hand… it is a technological error by a specialist.”

Argentina is running out of tools to lift its plunging currency

It would be a gross understatement to say that all is not well with the Argentine economy.
Despite a $50-billion support package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Argentine peso is in freefall, inflation is accelerating and the economy is heading toward yet another deep recession.
This has to raise questions as to whether it will be Argentina rather than Turkey that is the first to impose exchange controls in response to their respective economic crises.
Since the middle of this year, nothing seems to have worked to stabilize the Argentine peso, which has lost almost half of its value since the start of the year, making its performance even worse than that of Turkey.
Hiking interest rates to a staggering 60 percent has not seemed to work. Burning international reserves to defend the currency has not worked. Calling in the IMF hasn’t done the trick either. Indeed, since a $15-billion IMF disbursement in June, the Argentine peso has managed to lose another quarter in value.

U.S. to charge North Koreans over WannaCry, Sony cyberattacks: U.S. official
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department is poised to charge North Korean hackers over the May 2017 global WannaCry ransomware attack and the 2014 cyberattack on Sony Corp, a U.S. official told Reuters on Thursday.
The charges are part of a strategy by the U.S. government to deter future cyberattacks by naming and shaming the alleged perpetrators.

Brazil Supreme Court rejects latest Lula appeal to run for presidency
BRASILIA (Reuters) – A Brazilian Supreme Court justice on Thursday rejected the latest appeal by jailed former president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, that he be allowed to run in next month’s election.
Justice Edson Fachin, in a decision posted on the court’s website, ruled against the request from Lula’s legal team, which argued that Brazil was required to follow the recommendation of the United Nations Human Rights Committee and allow Lula to run for office from jail.
Lula’s legal team did not immediately reply to a request for comment. They have previously said they would appeal any ruling against them, and can do so by asking that the full court consider the appeal.
Lula, Brazil’s most popular politician, is serving a 12-year sentence for a corruption conviction. His Workers Party (PT) registered him as its presidential candidate for the Oct. 7 vote anyway, saying he is innocent.
Lula is ineligible for office under Brazil’s “Clean Slate” law, which prohibits candidates from running if they have convictions that have been upheld on appeal.
Despite his conviction and several graft cases pending against him, Lula leads the race by a long stretch, with 39 percent of voter support, according to pollster Datafolha. His nearest rival, far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro, has 19 percent.
Thursday’s decision was another blow to Lula’s effort to run and pushes the PT closer to choosing former Sao Paulo mayor Fernando Haddad, now running as vice president on the ticket, to stand for the presidency.

Merkel accuses far-right party of stoking ethnic tension
BERLIN (Reuters) – Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday accused the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) of using violent protests over a fatal stabbing blamed on migrants to stir up ethnic tension.
Far-right groups clashed with police and chased people they deemed to be migrants in the eastern city of Chemnitz on Aug. 26 after police said a Syrian and an Iraqi had been detained as suspects in the killing of a 35-year-old German man.
AfD leader Alexander Gauland had earlier this week urged a “peaceful revolution” against Merkel’s liberal immigration policy and said this required banishing politicians and members of the media who support the “Merkel system”.
Asked about the role of the AfD in the events in Chemnitz, Merkel told the RTL broadcaster: “The AfD is stirring up the mood and this has to be said clearly. I view some of their remarks very critically.”
The protests in Chemnitz have set off a debate about whether politicians are being too complacent in the face of rising xenophobia in a country where many had thought the lessons of Germany’s Nazi history had been learned.

Exclusive: British Navy warship sails near South China Sea islands, angering Beijing
Reuters) – Beijing expressed anger on Thursday after a British Royal Navy warship sailed close to islands claimed by China in the South China Sea late last month, saying Britain was engaged in “provocation” and that it had lodged a strong complaint.
The HMS Albion, a 22,000 ton amphibious warship carrying a contingent of Royal Marines, exercised its “freedom of navigation” rights as it passed near the Paracel Islands, two sources, who were familiar with the matter but who asked not to be identified, told Reuters.
The Albion was on its way to Ho Chi Minh City, where it docked on Monday following a deployment in and around Japan.
One of the sources said Beijing dispatched a frigate and two helicopters to challenge the British vessel, but both sides remained calm during the encounter.
The other source the Albion did not enter the territorial seas around any features in the hotly disputed region but demonstrated that Britain does not recognize excessive maritime claims around the Paracel Islands. Twelve nautical miles is an internationally recognized territorial limit.

On Tuesday, the day before Dorsey was to testify before two congressional committee on, among other things, questions of whether Twitter betrays a liberal bias, he was interviewed by Politico. Anonymous op-ed at NYT celebrates the ‘deep state’

Things weren’t stupid enough, so we had to have this anonymous editorial from a self-described “senior official” in the Trump administration, published by the New York Times.
What I love is that anyone out there is really trying to figure out who wrote it.
I think a Russian bot wrote it (or certainly could have written it), using nothing but the mainstream media coverage of the Trump administration for the last 18 months. (And I do mean a “bot.” An AI program could easily have come up with this editorial.)
It’s exactly what you would write, if you were submitting an op-ed from the infamous office building in St. Petersburg and trying to pass yourself off as a “senior Trump official” to the New York Times. You’d send them what they expect to hear.
They’ve been signaling for months what they expect to hear, so that part isn’t hard. There’s a bit more of the Washington Post’s editorial sensibility in this, and that’s what you’d pick in order to come off as more authentically “Washington” in tone.
But the whole thing is an exercise in bias confirmation. If you already thought Trump was amoral, unprincipled, anti-democratic, impetuous, adversarial, petty, ineffective, ranting, impulsive, half-baked, ill-informed, and reckless – well, this is the op-ed for you.

Rather, the likely answers go to things like Bob Woodward’s new book just coming out, and flogging the exact same themes as this op-ed; the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings being scheduled for this week, and the Left mounting an all-out assault to derail them; the interesting point that Trump is now said to be seriously contemplating a declassification of all the redacted portions of the Carter Page FISA applications, by the end of this week; and even just that Labor Day is behind us, the general election is now only two months away, and campaign season is beginning in earnest.
Listening avidly for disparagement of someone else is not a healthy way of life. A great deal of the #WalkAway movement boils down to people realizing that, and feeling the cool breeze of mental liberty blowing through their spirits. This poor op-ed is already out of step because it looks in the rearview mirror and prescribes paralysis and prejudiced judgment — and the American people still have the freedom of mind to see through that.
Many of them will also see that insisting the people cannot vote for change — to things like regulation and trade policy — is the opposite of “preserving our democratic institutions.” Voting to change regulatory and trade policy is exactly what our democratic institutions enable us to do. What’s anti-democratic is an attitude that contingent, issue-specific policies, once enacted, mustn’t ever be changed.
While I was thinking that anonymous doesn’t exist I wasn’t thinking of a bot writing the editorial I was thinking that some Dem wrote the piece thinking it would help them 1) Stop or delay the Kavanaugh confirmation or 2) help the Dems in the mid terms. I can understand why she wants it to be a bot because if it is really a member of the administration it confirms that there is a deep state who have positioned people in the Trump administration who are seeking to help Mueller carry out his soft coup against the President and that one of its members has what has to be a room temp IQ. If it was a Dem operative writing the editorial things are marginally getter then if a Deep State member (assuming there is a difference in DC) this would be another low in the Dems campaign tool box. As I said this would be marginally better then a Deep Stater writing it but not much.
What the entire Trump Derangement Syndrome shows is that the left doesn’t believe in Democracy with a capital D or a lower case d. They are showing that if the people don’t vote for them they (the left) have to change the results of the election by any means necessary including violence and framing the winner for crimes that aren’t crimes. This hatred of democracy and freedom is a common mental illness on the left and they are once again gaining enough power to try and force the rest of us to live in their delusional world. Their lack of willingness to live in the real world and accept that most people don’t want their big government control of every aspect of our lives is once again leading the world into a vast number of small wars that will have the effect of a major World War. A World War that will last longer and have a much higher causality rate then WWII.
