  1. Social media giant Facebook has apologized to conservative non-profit group PragerU for banning multiple videos on the group’s Facebook page for “hate speech,” and the subsequent shadowbanning of the group’s page, which resulted in a 99.9999% drop in traffic.
Breitbart News previously reported on the censorship of PragerU after their Facebook page saw a 99.9999 percent drop in engagement based on Facebook’s own dashboard. The Social Media Masters of the Universe also pulled down two PragerU videos, including one on masculinity, which it labeled “hate speech.”

  2. Malaysia is hunting for a radioactive device which went missing from a pickup truck earlier this month.

Authorities say the radioactive substance inside the radiography device could spread dangerous contamination if dismantled improperly.

There are also fears it could be used as part of a weapon – a so-called dirty bomb – if it fell into the wrong hands.

Authorities have confirmed the device is missing but have insisted that “everything is under control”.

The missing object is used in industrial radiography – it belonged to a firm that does tests, calibrations and inspections for oil and gas companies and other heavy industry firms.

The 23kg (50lbs) large metal tube with a carrying handle had reportedly been used to spot cracks in metal.

It contains the radioactive isotope iridium-192 which can cause radiation exposure or be used as a weapon if combined with a conventional explosive device.

  3. The recent wave of censorship of conservative voices on the internet by tech giants Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Apple mirrors a plan concocted by a coalition of George Soros-funded, progressive groups to take back power in Washington from President Trump’s administration.

A confidential, 49-page memo for defeating Trump by working with the major social-media platforms to eliminate “right wing propaganda and fake news” was presented in January 2017 by Media Matters founder David Brock at a retreat in Florida with about 100 donors, the Washington Free Beacon reported at the time.

On Monday, the Gateway Pundit blog noted the memo’s relationship with recent moves by Silicon Valley tech giants to “shadow ban” conservative political candidates and pundits and remove content.

The Free Beacon obtained a copy of the memo, “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action,” by attending the retreat.

The memo spells out a four-year agenda that deployed Media Matters along with American Bridge, Shareblue and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) to attack Trump and Republicans.

The strategies are impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

  4. A balaclava-wearing, machete-wielding man has been left with serious head injuries after being mowed down by a speeding car as he chased down a rival with the sword-like weapon.
The man was struck by the car in a suspected “target attack”, police said, being thrown approximately 50ft down a road by the impact.

He was left in a serious condition, the collision having been of such force it nearly ripped his trousers clean off, after the incident in the Erdington area of the UK’s second city, Birmingham. It happened in broad daylight at 1.30 pm on Friday.

Two men from Birmingham, aged 19 and 22, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, Breitbart London can reveal.

They have been released on bail while the investigations continue, West Midlands police said. A 28-year old was also arrested Friday on suspicion of assault and remains in custody, the force added.

It is claimed the hit and run driver of the blue car was attempting to save the man who was being chased, The Sun reports, after obtaining CCTV footage of the dramatic clash.

  5. The Liberal government took steps to bar Omar Khadr from attending a celebration near Parliament Hill in late June where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the keynote speaker, even though Mr. Khadr was not on the guest list for the invitation-only event.

Two sources have confirmed to The Globe and Mail that Mr. Khadr and his wife, Muna Abougoush, were in the Parliament Buildings on June 19, the same day as an annual celebration of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr in the Sir John A. Macdonald building, a parliamentary reception hall. The annual event includes members of the public, and MPs and senators from all parties.

A senior Liberal insider told The Globe on Monday that the government was worried that Mr. Khadr might meet with Liberal MPs or attend the Eid al-Fitr celebration, where Mr. Trudeau was speaking. The government has been highly criticized over a $10.5-million settlement and formal apology to the former child soldier for abuses he suffered while detained in the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The source said the government alerted parliamentary security to make sure that Mr. Khadr was not allowed into the event. Mr. Khadr and his spouse did not show up and it is not known whether the couple even planned to attend. It was an invitation-only event, and Mr. Khadr was not invited. Mr. Khadr was in Ottawa because his wife had attended a conference on June 18.

Two men accused of illegal land clearing on a rural property in north-west Sydney were building a large shed on the day they were required in court for a hearing about the allegations, ABC footage shows.
Dr Mustapha Kara-Ali and Diaa Kara-Ali, who belong to an Islamic guild founded by Dr Kara-Ali called Diwan al Dawla, have been taken to the Land and Environment Court by Hawkesbury City Council for allegedly carrying out illegal land clearing and earthworks without seeking any of the relevant development approvals at a property in Colo.
They also allegedly built gates, fences and driveways, and they have claimed the civil action against them infringes on their religious freedoms because they purportedly use the Colo property for religious prayers and “ritual baptisms”.
The court matter was set down for a two-day hearing on Monday, but neither of the men showed up.
    (Footage and photos at source)
The hearing continued without them, but it is alleged construction on the site continues and footage shows the two men working on the shed.

In further vision provided by the court, one of the men is shown spitting at and throwing a rock at council workers when they tried to serve legal papers.

The ABC understands it was Diaa Kara-Ali in the footage.

The council’s lawyer, Mark Cottom, told the court a council officer had requested police accompany them on a site inspection of the property, because they might have required forced entry.

“Two men convicted of abducting, sexually assaulting and attempting to kill an eight-year-old girl in Mandsaur district of India have been sentenced to death under the country’s newly toughened anti-rape legislation.

It took less than two months for the Special Investigation Team of the prosecutor to build a case against Irfan Mewati, 20, and Asif Mewati, 24, and to prove without a reasonable doubt that, on June 26, the pair brutally raped and tortured a schoolgirl before attempting to slit her throat.

    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/08/22/salvini-threatens-to-take-rescued-migrants-back-to-libya/

“Italian populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has threatened to start returning migrants back to Libya if other European Union countries do not start taking in rescued migrants.

Salvini’s comments came after 190 migrants were rescued by the Italian coastguard near Malta last Thursday with 13 migrants being taken to Lampedusa for emergency medical treatment while the rest were taken in by Malta. When the Italians attempted to return the 13 migrants following their treatment, the Maltese government refused to allow them entry Der Spiegel reports.

“Either Europe is seriously choosing to help concretely in Italy, starting with the 180 immigrants aboard ‘Diciotti’ for example, or we will be forced to do what will end the trafficking business forever. That means escorting people taken back to Libya at sea,” Salvini said.

So far only one vessel, the Asso 28, has taken migrants back to Libya after rescuing them. In July the vessel rescued 108 migrants off the Libyan coast and worked with the Libyan coastguard, subsequently receiving a tirade of criticism from migrant rescue NGOs and others who claim Libya is not a safe country for migrants to return to…”

Imran Awan Gets No Jail Time for Bank Fraud

Embattled former Democrat IT aide Imran Awan gets no jail time in connection with federal bank fraud charges.

Instead, a D.C. judge sentenced the 38-year-old to timed served plus three-months supervised release.

Awan pleaded guilty in July to lying on a home loan application. The plea deal guaranteed charges against his wife would be dropped.

President Trump has been a longtime opponent of Awan, who used to work for Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and repeatedly linked him to missing servers.

Tuesday’s sentencing is not related to any of his work on Capitol Hill.

Awan apologized to his country, family as well as law enforcement and said he accepts full responsibility

    • Imran Awan’s chief sympathizer: The judge who keeps catching the big cases
      By J.E. Dyer August 22, 2018

Tuesday was a big day in terms of court cases with major implications for politics — the interlinked politics at both ends of the National Mall.

Paul Manafort was convicted by a jury on 8 of the 18 counts brought against him by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. None of the counts had any relevance to the 2016 election or Russia.

Michael Cohen, formerly Donald Trump’s lawyer, pled to 8 counts in federal court as well, in a case prompted by the Mueller investigation. None of the counts had any relevance to the 2016 election or Russia.

Not to be overlooked: a District of Columbia Superior Court judge dismissed a defamation lawsuit brought by owners of a Russian bank against dossier author Christopher Steele. This was not a federal case; it was a D.C. Superior Court case, the equivalent of a state-court-level case in the District of Columbia. The judge ruled that, whatever the merits of the dossier itself, Steele’s intentions in supplying material from it to media organizations were not libelous.

Finally, the federal judge presiding over the bank fraud case against Imran Awan, erratic D.C.-area entrepreneur and erstwhile “IT aide” to congressional Democrats, awarded Awan no jail time in his plea deal, explaining that Awan had “suffered enough.”

The last point is what interests us here. The judge in question is Tanya S. Chutkan, an Obama appointee with a rather remarkable history. When she caught the Awan case, numerous commentators observed that she had also had to recuse herself from two separate cases involving Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind the Steele dossier — because she somehow ended up with both of those cases. But there’s more to it than that.

    • House Dems’ ‘IT aide’ Imran Awan gets off with no jail time in federal bank fraud case
By Daily Caller News Foundation August 22, 2018

Former IT aide Imran Awan received no jail time Tuesday after a federal judge said he had “suffered enough.”
His lawyer said his “destitute” client was building a charity hospital, but reports show that the land was also used for a real estate development and was allegedly stolen from farmers.
Former Democratic chiefs of staff wrote letters of support for Imran, despite IT-violation findings by the House inspector general and Capitol Police.

A federal judge declined to give jail time to former Democratic IT aide Imran Awan Tuesday, saying he has “suffered enough” at the hands of politicians “at the highest levels of government.” In addition, the Department of Justice said it did not find any evidence that supported criminal charges.

Imran choked back tears, saying, “We want to thank the prosecution, the FBI and the Capitol Police,” while his lawyer submitted a letter referring to President Donald Trump, Sen. Chuck Grassley and other Republications as “deranged,” “pathetic” and “without a shred of decency.”

Judge Tanya Chutkan gave Imran three months of supervised release. Imran’s attorney had hoped to avoid the supervision, indicating Imran wanted to go back to Pakistan: “By ending this today, you will allow Hina to build her family wherever she chooses and allow Imran to visit his father’s grave and secure his legacy,” the attorney said.

The lawyer, former Hillary Clinton aide Chris Gowen, said Imran was motivated by love for his father, who was dying in Virginia when Imran flew to Pakistan. Imran, he said, was in a “panic” to get money to urgently build a charity hospital, described in court as a “women’s shelter.” He described the urgent moves as “securing his father’s legacy.”

  14. Sanctions on Iran having effect, but regime change is not U.S. policy: Bolton

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – U.S. sanctions are having a strong effect on Iran’s economy and popular opinion, though regime change there is not part of Washington’s policy, President Donald Trump’s national security adviser said on Wednesday.

The Trump administration re-imposed sanctions this month after withdrawing from the 2015 international nuclear deal with Iran, which Washington saw as inadequate for curbing Tehran’s activities in neighboring Middle East countries and denying it the means to make an atomic bomb.

The U.S. turnaround outraged Iran, which has taken a defiant stance, and has rattled other world powers where some businesses have been debating whether to divest from the Islamic Republic.

“Let me be clear, the reimposition of the sanctions, we think, is already having a significant effect on Iran’s economy and on, really, popular opinion inside Iran,” National Security Adviser John Bolton told Reuters on a visit to Israel.

At a news conference in Jerusalem on Wednesday, Bolton was asked whether the United States had discussed any plans with Israel on how to capitalize on economic protests in Iran and if the demonstrations posed any tangible threat to the Tehran government.

  15. Bulgaria: Our Country is Now ‘Migrant Crisis’-Proof Thanks to Wall, Border Force (breitbart, Aug 22, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/08/22/bulgaria-migrant-crisis-proof-wall/

“Patriotic politicians in Bulgaria have worked to protect the country and Europe from illegal migration, its defence minister said following the nation’s calls to close Europe’s borders.

Krassimir Karakachanov, who serves as leader of the populist Bulgarian National Movement (VMRO) in addition to his ministerial position, said the recently completed border fence paired with an increased military presence at the nation’s frontiers “has led to almost zero migrant pressure on the border and very few people in the migrant centres”.

Bulgaria’s United Patriots, an electoral alliance of three parties including the VMRO pointed to centre-right Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s recent move to bar the country from signing deals with other EU nations to readmit asylum seekers as evidence that the nationalist grouping is making its mark on Bulgarian policy.

The party said in a statement: “Despite the insistence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and some of her counterparts of other EU Member States, Bulgaria’s position remains firm and unchanged. This is an important indicator that the Patriots are important and useful in the country’s governance.

“Acting as the EU’s external border, Bulgaria is responsible not just for its own security but for the security of the entire EU. Thanks to the efforts of the patriotic groups in Parliament, a border fence was completed during the government’s previous term.”

According to local media, the party added that the government has fulfilled its promise of making sure a new migrant crisis will not be able to take place in the country…”

  16. Kremlin, before meeting with Trump adviser, asks if U.S. wants better ties

MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Wednesday it needed to understand if there was political will in Washington to cooperate with Russia as it prepared for a meeting between U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton and his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev.

The two men are due to meet in Geneva for talks on Thursday in the first high-level meeting since the Russian and U.S. presidents held talks in Helsinki in July.

U.S. President Donald Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin last month, an event Moscow quickly chalked up as a triumph. However, a new salvo of U.S. sanctions was announced in the wake of the meeting after Trump came under fire at home for his handling of the summit.

“The worsening of bilateral relations is continuing, we need to identify some kind of areas for cooperation and also to understand if there are any such areas and whether our counterpart (the United States) has a desire for this,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

  17. Taiwan’s last Africa ally tells China ‘no desire’ to switch ties

BEIJING/MBABANE (Reuters) – Taiwan’s last diplomatic ally in Africa, the Kingdom of eSwatini, said on Wednesday it had no intention of switching ties to China, after a Chinese diplomat said he expected it to ditch Taipei soon amid a bitter diplomatic dispute.

Taiwan, which China claims as a wayward province with no right to state-to-state relations, now has formal ties with only 17 countries, almost all small, less developed nations in Central America and the Pacific, like Belize and Nauru.

It lost its latest ally, El Salvador, on Tuesday, the third country to fall to China this year. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has vowed to fight China’s “increasingly out of control” behavior after the move.

Ahead of a summit next month between China and African leaders in Beijing, China has been upping the pressure on Taiwan’s last remaining ally on the continent, eSwatini, formerly known as Swaziland, to come over to China’s side, diplomatic sources say.

  19. China’s Xi says internet must be ‘clean and righteous’

BEIJING (Reuters) – The internet must be “clean and righteous” and vulgar content must be resisted in the field of culture, Chinese President Xi Jinping told a meeting of senior propaganda officials, state media said on Wednesday.

The government has been tightening controls over internet content as part of what it says are efforts to maintain social stability, taking on “vulgar” and pornographic content as well as the unauthorized dissemination of news.

The moves come amid a broader clamp-down targeting online content from livestreams and blogs to mobile gaming, as the country’s leaders look to tighten their grip over a huge and diverse cultural scene online popular with China’s youth.

Speaking at a two-day meeting, attended by officials from major state media outlets and the internet regulator, Xi said propaganda efforts needed to be put front and center, the official Xinhua news agency said.

  20. Australian political challenger known for hard-right stances (abcnews, Aug 22, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/australian-political-challenger-hard-stances-57324235

“Peter Dutton, the government lawmaker who has challenged Australia’s prime minister for his job, is publicly perceived as a hard man and a leading hard-right conservative. His face is associated with turning back asylum seekers boats, stripping citizenship from extremists and striving to increase the English-language standards for migrants who want to gain citizenship.

Dutton gave up the largest security portfolio in the government when he resigned as minister for home affairs, who controls the newly created Department of Homeland Security. The department is designed to tackle the new security threats of a changing geopolitical environment.

While highly regarded by the conservative Liberal Party’s hard-right faction, Dutton’s broader appeal has been questioned, particularly among ethnic minorities.

He has been criticized for saying the level of Lebanese Muslim immigration under a humanitarian program in the 1970s had been a mistake that Australia was now paying for through a rise in domestic extremism.

He also attracted accusations of racism through comments that white farmers under threat of violence in black-majority South Africa should be treated as refugees because “they need help from a civilized country.” He has angered many in the ethnic-African community by saying people in Victoria state were “scared to go out to restaurants of a night time” because of “African gang violence.”

Dutton, 47, is a former police drug squad detective from the politically and socially conservative state of Queensland.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2001 and quickly rose to the rank of minister three years later.

He became minister for immigration and border protection in 2014, when he became responsible for Australia’s contentious policy of sending asylum seekers who attempt to reach Australia by boat to immigration camps paid for by his government on impoverished Pacific island nations for Papua New Guinea and Nauru. The Australian navy also turns asylum seekers boats back to Indonesia, which Jakarta regards as an affront to Indonesian sovereignty.”

  22. The Left lacks the emotional maturity to grieve for Mollie Tibbetts
By Howard Portnoy August 22, 2018

The details of the murder of Mollie Tibbetts are too fresh and too ubiquitous to require repeating. As we learned yesterday, the University of Iowa co-ed who went missing a month ago while out running was killed by an illegal alien.

His name is Cristihian Bahena Rivera, but that is of little importance. What does matter are the circumstances that made it possible for him to slip across our southern undetected. If he had been apprehended at the point of entry by a beefed-up border patrol or his progress frustrated by an unscalable wall, a 20-year-old woman with entire life ahead of her would still be alive today.

You’ll notice the previous sentence begins with the word if. It is human nature to ask what if whenever adversity strikes. If he had been wearing his seat-beat; if she had drunk less.

The difference in the case of Mollie Tibbetts, Kate Steinle, and all the other “statistics” is that the victims bear no responsibility for their deaths. But don’t make the mistake of assigning blame entirely to the killer. It is shared by elected officials hell-bent on keeping the borders porous in the hopes of recruiting new voters.

  24. Richard: The US media is covering up am Islamic attack by not reporting on it. In Britain and Canada they just don’t mention the name or religion of the attacker, looks like the US media prefers to just ignore the attack.

Woman stabbed 14 times lives to tell about ordeal. But why are the media not reporting this crime?
By LU Staff August 21, 2018

Actually one (and only one) news outlet, Minneapolis-St. Paul ABC affiliate KSTP, has covered the stabbing, which appears to be a random act of violence. Other right-leaning sources, such as Jihad Watch and the Geller Report, have covered the story, but other outlets, including the Minneapolis papers, have remained mum.

So what is there about this story that has made it toxic to the mainstream media? Certainly, it couldn’t be the details of the crime itself. The victim, 26-year-old Morgan Evenson, was walking home from her job on a snowy day last December when a stranger suddenly lunged at her and began stabbing her.

Evenson told reporters that she struggled with her attacker, adding:

  25. Michael Cohen pleads to 8 counts including ‘excessive campaign contributions’
    By J.E. Dyer August 21, 2018

Howard Portnoy reported a short time ago on the verdict returned by the federal jury in Virginia on the Paul Manafort trial. As Howard noted, the Manafort verdict on 8 counts (with a hung jury and mistrial on 10 others) is unrelated to any concept of “collusion” in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Now the Michael Cohen plea deal, being rumored in the media all day Tuesday, has been reported. According to CNBC, Cohen has taken a plea to 8 counts:

    • Both Mark Levin and Alan Deresowitz (sp) have said that the actions he plead guilty to aren’t crimes. That is top lawyers from both side of the political aisle that are saying no crime was committed.

  26. Paul Manafort found guilty on 8 counts, judge declares mistrial on 10 others
By Howard Portnoy August 21, 2018

Moments ago a federal jury returned a guilty verdict on 8 of the 18 counts former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had been charged with.

As Fox News notes, the jury began deliberating last Thursday following a three-week trial in which prosecutors claimed that Manafort had failed to pay tax on income from political work done overseas, while fraudulently obtaining millions in bank loans. Manafort had pleaded not guilty.

The inability of the jury to reach a verdict after several days of deliberation, coupled with the jury’s repeated requests for information, including clarification from Judge T.S. Ellis III on what reasonable doubt means, had given the defense team reasons for optimism that an acquittal was in the offing.

There seemed to be more cause for optimism earlier today, when the jury indicated it was having difficulty reaching consensus on even one count, passing a note to the judge that asked, “If we cannot come to consensus on a single count … what does that mean for the final verdict?”

Most of the counts on which Manafort was found guilty carry average sentences of three to five years, but two of them carry penalties as great as 30 years.

  27. Venezuela’s neighbors tighten borders as refugees flee violence, destruction of socialism
Sharan Kumar, Daily Caller August 21, 2018

[Ed. – How dare they be so heartless and inhumane. Plus, go figure. Fill in your own sarcastic rejoinder.]

The countries neighboring Venezuela have tightened border measures as unrest reaches a tipping a point and people flee the starving socialist nation, reports CNN.

Peru and Ecuador have enacted new rules to help curtail the mass immigration from Venezuela. The influx of migrants leaving Venezuela has also led to mob violence in the case of Brazil, where it has gotten so chaotic in border regions that the Brazilian state of Roraima has asked the Government to halt Venezuelan immigration completely, Reuters reports.

“We are immensely worried about the consequences this might present,” said Colombian Migration Director Christian Kruger, commenting on the restrictive Border measures taken against Venezuelan migrants by neighboring South American countries, warning that the measure will create congestion at border checkpoints, AP reports.

Neighboring States React With Stronger Borders As Thousands Pour Out Of Collapsing Venezuela

Severe Economic strife in Venezuela has made it an unlivable country. Much of the socialist country’s 31 million population faces starvation and gang violence due to economic downturn. Many Venezuelans have emigrated to escape these circumstances. According to the United Nations, over 2.3 million Venezuelans have fled the country in the past 4 years.

    • Richard: I would have worded the headline as With Democrats in Charge the United States is Venezuela that makes more sense.

Venezuela is in crisis mode, its currency tanking, its oil-rich vastness a waste of socialist rule, its people desperate for even the most basic of human necessities.

And this is where the young Democrats and progressives of America would like to head.

This is where the 44 percent of millennials who prefer socialism to capitalism would like this country to go.

A big hat tip to America’s public school systems on that one, yes? Apparently, years of teaching Founding Fathers as evil white men and the Constitution as inherently racist have had their effect and now, America’s rising generations, don’t even know that socialism is one of government’s biggest tools of “justified” murder of its own citizens.

Roughly 20 million were killed under Joseph Stalin. Somewhere in the vicinity of 65 million were killed by China’s Mao Zedong. A comparatively paltry 4 million were murdered by Pol Pot in Cambodia. The list of victims of socialist rule goes on.

But in America, circa 2018, it’s the Republicans and their GD capitalistic piggery that’s the threat in the minds of the left?

  28. Anti-Trump texts required in U of Colo. rhetoric course

An English professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has assigned multiple texts bashing President Donald Trump as required reading in her rhetoric course, which labels his supporters as discriminatory, offensive and overly boisterous.

“Katherine Mack – who chairs the English Department at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs – has assigned anti-Trump material as required reading for her rhetoric course, which is a mandatory class for students majoring in ‘Rhetoric and Writing,’” Campus Reform reported. “[The] course requires students to read textbooks that bemoan the ‘Trump effect’ and describe Trump supporters as prejudiced against immigrants, Muslims and LGBTQ+ individuals.”

  29. VICE News – Devin Nunes Calls His Own Local Paper ‘Fake News’

California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes isn’t just a major Donald Trump defender — he’s also taking a page out of the Trump playbook and attacking his local newspaper as “Fake News.”

In June, Nunes launched an unusually long ad — running more than two minutes — against the Fresno Bee, for its coverage of a controversy surrounding a winery in which Nunes is invested.

“Sadly, since the last election, The Fresno Bee has worked closely with radical left-wing groups to promote numerous fake news stories about me,” Nunes says in the ad, giving no proof for the claims of collusion.

It was a rare campaign expenditure for Nunes, who isn’t seen as particularly vulnerable in his deep-red Central Valley district. But it was heard by enough voters in the district that Fresno Bee reporters received an uptick in hate mail, angry social media posts and voicemails denouncing their reporting and the paper.

Mackenzie Mays was the Fresno Bee reporter who wrote the original story on the winery controversy. In response to Nunes’ ad, she received voicemails calling her and her colleagues “corrupt bastards” — but she said it wasn’t the first time she’s gotten hate from readers, and their attacks have only gotten more vicious recently — since Trump was elected.

  30. Seven police officers suffered acid and lime burns as more than 100 sub-Saharan migrants jumped the border fence that separates Morocco from Spain’s north African exclave of Ceuta.
Approximately 300 people tried to enter European territory by storming the fence on Tuesday night. Press reports state that as many as 200 were successful, however officials in the autonomous city say they have only accounted for 115 new arrivals

The migrants cut part of the, 8.4km-long (5.2 mile) fence and used battery acid, quicklime and excrement to attack police officers, El Pais reports. The police revealed on Twitter that seven members of the force suffered injuries during the incident.

Because of vacations, the border was manned by fewer than 10 agents when the migrants chose to storm the fence. Numbers were also reduced because it was the first day of the Eid al-Adha Muslim festival. The Unified Association of the Civil Guard (AUGC) police representative group has long been critical of the shortage of officers manning the border.
