“MULTIPLE people have been rushed to hospital with “significant injuries” after a mass shooting in Danforth, Toronto, it has been confirmed.
Toronto police said a shooting took place along Danforth Avenue near Logan Avenue in the Greektown area.
Paramedics said a number of victims have sustained significant injuries and CP24 has reported that the suspected shooter is dead.
Witnesses in the area said they heard between 10 and 20 shots being fired.
Local resident Suzanne Kanso told express.co.uk: “I was sitting in a car with a friend when we heard a pop.
“I didn’t make much of it to be honest but then I saw was one cop after the other right at Pape and Carlaw.
“Cops were there with big guns, with over 20 cars and cops taping the entire area.”
Local reporter Jeremy Chohn tweeted: “Victims are spread across many blocks.”
Toronto police have confirmed that nine people have been shot.
A child is also thought to be among the victims.
CP24 reporter Stephanie Smyth said: “Paramedics confirm to CP24 eight patients taken to hospital including one child to Sick Kids, six to trauma centre.
“Multiple injured in shooting on the Danforth in Toronto.”
Breaking News Toronto said: “Two more victims located with Gunshot wounds to the lower legs.
“Trauma Centre’s will only be taking the most serious. Other hospitals will be assisting with Non-life threatening.”
The gunman has been confirmed dead.
Police are asking any witnesses to come forward with information.
Streets in the area have been closed while police and other emergency services respond.
The Toronto Transit Commission said trains are not stopping at Chester as a result of police activity.
The shooting is believed to have taken place around 10pm local time (3am BST).

Syrian Deyab resided in Uruguay after being released from the Guantanamo in December 2014. He used to be member of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.
According to the sources, in June, Deyab traveled to Turkey from Brazil’s Sao Paulo with a Moroccan passport and a forged identity card. He was then detained by the Turkish forces and subsequently deported to Syria.
Jihad Deyab, 47, has spent about 12 years in the Guantanamo Bay camp, but was never charged with a crime. In the last three and a half years, he made four attempts to get to Turkey where his wife, three sons and a grandson are residing.”

At least 45 percent of the town’s 34,000 eligible voters cast their ballots in the poll, initiated by the activist group “Kaufbeuren citizens against a new DITIB Mosque.”
According to a media report, however, the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party had earlier said that the vote had actually been initiated by them.
The authors of the initiative describe DITIB as the mouthpiece of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, spreading political Islam, which is incompatible with the German constitution and the idea of a free and democratic state.
However, if DITIB decides to build the mosque privately, there is nothing the municipality can do about it.
The head of DITIB’s Kaufbeuren branch, Osman Ozturk, said that “shocked” as he was by the outcome of Sunday’s vote, he would have to accept it.
Sunday’s vote in Kaufbeuren is a sign of Germans’ growing fear of radical Islamic ideas, which they believe are being disseminated by Muslim prayer houses.

Gays go on strike in Israel, march in Tel Aviv
TEL AVIV, Israel — Hundreds of Israeli LGBT advocates and their supporters are on strike, protesting the exclusion of gay men from a recently passed surrogacy law.
Protesters marched in Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities on Sunday, waving rainbow flags and briefly blocking a major highway.
The community is outraged that after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to pass legislation supporting surrogacy for gay fathers. He then voted against it, apparently under pressure from his ultra-Orthodox Jewish coalition partners.

US fighter jet intercepts small plane near Trump golf resort

A U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jet on Saturday intercepted a small plane near Donald Trump’s private golf resort in New Jersey, where the president is currently staying.
Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command said a “general aviation aircraft” entered a temporary restricted area “without proper clearances or communications” over Bedminster, N.J.
The plane landed without incident and the pilot was met by law enforcement officials.
Trump arrived in New Jersey on Friday and is scheduled to leave on Sunday morning.

Report: Iran Planning Cyber Attack
Iran is planning a series of advanced cyber attacks on the U.S., according to reports.
Iran has been developing the necessary resources to launch a sophisticated attack against U.S. and European infrastructure, according to an NBC News report.
The warning was issued by cyber experts at the Aspen Security Forum last week.
Officials at the event included Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
The officials agreed while Iran remains a threat Russia remains the largest aggressor.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly claimed it has no intention of engaging in cyber warfare with the United States.

Reuters reporter insists Myanmar police planted ‘secret’ papers
YANGON (Reuters) – A jailed Reuters reporter told a court in Myanmar on Monday that documents he is accused of breaking state secrets laws to obtain were planted by a police officer, who handed him papers he had not sought in order to entrap him. The officer had then lied to the court about what happened, he said.
Wa Lone, 32, who began giving evidence last week at the court in northern Yangon, also said under questioning by prosecutors that he had followed journalistic ethics in his reporting of a massacre of Rohingya Muslims last year.
Wa Lone and Reuters colleague Kyaw Soe Oo, 28, are on trial on charges brought under the colonial-era Official Secrets Act, in a case seen as a test of press freedom in Myanmar. Both have pleaded not guilty. If convicted, they face up to 14 years in prison.
As his hours-long cross-examination continued on Monday, Wa Lone repeatedly stated that the reporters were framed by police who handed them papers “without asking” minutes before they were arrested on Dec. 12.
Lead prosecutor Kyaw Min Aung questioned Wa Lone about the documents, asking whether the reporter believed their contents could be damaging to the state if given to insurgents, and why he was arrested with the documents.

When you were young, did you get your kicks pulling the wings off houseflies? If you didn’t, you are a step ahead of Polish-born Jewish writer Isaac Bashevis Singer, who — we learn in a new video by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) — did.
The video, which is making the rounds, stars actress Natalie Portman, who is herself a vegan. In it, we discover that as Singer grew older and more mature, he not only relinquished that sadistic practice. He went on to swear off meat altogether, reportedly remarking, “I did not become a vegetarian for my health, I did it for the health of the chickens.”
But that’s not the only sentiment ascribed to Singer in the video. Another — and one that is generating sparks — is the suggestion that the author drew a parallel between raising animals for food and the Holocaust. In fact he never said any such thing. The line attributed to him — “We do to God’s creatures what the Nazis did to us” — was uttered by the main character in his novel “Shosha.”
Putting the words of fictional characters in the mouths of their creators is duplicitous. Liberals have used this same bit of sleight-of-hand to support the contention that Mark Twain was a racist because one of his characters in “Huckleberry Finn” utters the n-word.

Left-leaning journalists like Margaret Carlson are angry that the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in favor of a conservative professor whose academic freedom rights were violated by Marquette University. It effectively fired him for a blog post that criticized an instructor for trying to squelch criticism of same-sex marriage. Critics of the court’s decision cite the fact that members of the public sent nasty emails to the instructor after Professor John McAdams posted his blog post.
But you don’t lose your free speech because other people are nasty. Free speech gives you the right to criticize someone for doing something controversial or wrong, even if others who agree with your criticism insult or threaten the person you criticized. It’s not your fault that other people misbehaved.
Blog posts that criticize someone are protected under the Supreme Court’s decisions in Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969) and Hess v. Indiana, 414 U.S. 105 (1973), even if some outraged readers send offensive or threatening emails as a result. Even speech that triggers illegal acts by third parties, such as threats, remains protected by the First Amendment unless the speaker intended to incite a violation of the law that is both imminent and likely.

Lawyers: White students at school planning to reduce white enrollment have grounds for suit

Civil rights lawyers said white students should be able to sue California Polytechnic State University for racial discrimination after the school confirmed it would take deliberate steps to decrease its proportion of white students.
Al Rava, an attorney from San Diego, said Cal Poly San Luis Obispo could be sued under the state’s Unruh Civil Rights Act, while speaking with The Daily Caller News Foundation. The Unruh Civil Rights Act entitles all California residents to “full and equal” benefits in all state business establishments, irrespective of their race.
“Cal Poly is part of the State of California education system, i.e., Cal Poly is a governmental entity, therefore it can be sued for violating the equal protection clauses of the California Constitution and the U.S. Constitution,” Rava told TheDCNF.
The school announced the creation of two scholarships directed at recruiting “African American and other underrepresented minorities” in a May letter to its student body.

The televangelist Adnan Oktar, who hosts a somewhat feminist talk show, sometimes labeled by media as a “cult,” was arrested during an operation launched by Turkish police earlier this month.

Testifying before the court, Oktar pleaded not guilty and started preaching on his controversial interpretation of Islam instead.
“Covering where a bikini covers is enough for Islamic veiling. Because this is how it was described in the Quran,” he said, also claiming that Islam only prohibits wine as an alcoholic beverage, while allows drinking vodka or whiskey.
Oktar was detained along with more than 100 of his followers over accusations of fraud, sexual abuse, establishing a criminal organization, Istanbul police headquarters said.
According to local media, citing unnamed security sources, police had seized 1.5 million Turkish liras ($312,000), 96 pistols, 23 rifles, over 3,000 bullets, luxury cars, six truckloads of historical artifacts and antiques as part of the probe.
In February, Turkey’s radio and television watchdog suspended his show that blended theological discussions and dancing with what he called “kittens,” young women who stick to his somewhat odd version of feminism, citing a violation of gender equality and women’s rights.”

France: 400 refugees evicted from makeshift camp in Nantes
Riot police oversaw the dismantling of a makeshift refugee camp on Jean-Baptiste Daviais square in Nantes on Monday, which resulted in the eviction of around 400 refugees.
The camp was reportedly set up in May, growing in size ever since and reaching slightly under 280 tents by the time of its tearing down.
Germany: Two homeless men set on fire at Berlin train station
Two homeless people were seriously injured near Berlin’s Schoneweide station on Sunday night, after their sleeping place was set ablaze in an attack by unknown assailants, footage from Monday shows.
According to the German media, at around 23:00 last night (21:00 GMT) unknown assailants poured a flammable liquid over two homeless men (aged 47 and 62) and their belongings before setting them alight.

“Recycling is a waste of time and money which probably does more harm to the environment than good.
This is the message of a damning report produced for the UK government by the National Audit Office.
It confirms what many have long suspected: recycling is an empty ritual, devised by green zealots, enforced by bureaucrats, but with no practical benefits whatsoever.
Obviously, being an official report, it doesn’t state the truth quite so bluntly. But it leaves the reader in no doubt that Britain’s recycling targets are just an empty, EU-driven exercise in green virtue-signalling and that the whole process positively invites fraud and corruption.
The report focuses on packaging recycling. Under a scheme introduced by the Blair Government in 1997 to comply with EU recycling directives, companies are obliged to take a certain percentage of their packaging from recycled material – or at least to do so symbolically by purchasing “recovery evidence notes” from specialist recycling companies. These are a bit like carbon credits or renewable obligation certificates: a way of maintaining the illusion that there is a free market, while simultaneously forcing companies to underwrite green tariffs imposed on them by the state.
It concludes:
The system appears to have evolved into a comfortable way for government to meet targets without facing up to the underlying recycling issues. The government has no evidence that the system has encouraged companies to minimise packaging or make it easy to recycle. And it relies on exporting materials to other parts of the world without adequate checks to ensure this material is actually recycled, and without consideration of whether other countries will continue to accept it in the long-term. Despite it now being 20 years since the system was established, the Department does not know what value the system has added nor whether the Agency’s approach to tackling the risks of fraud and error is proportionate. Our overall sense is that over a long period government has allowed the obligations to keep rolling forward without asking the important questions.
What it means is that the system is broken and probably never worked in the first place.
In order to meet its EU-driven recycling targets, Britain – like many advanced economies – has simply exported the problem overseas to countries where standards are much laxer and where people have fewer qualms about either dumping or burning trash that was supposed to have been recycled.
Until January this year, China was the main destination for this exported trash. But now it refuses to take it – which has led to havoc in the fake-recycling market.
Some of the worst fraud is now committed in Poland, which receives 12,000 tonnes of plastic from the UK a year. It is supposed to be recycled but a lot of it isn’t.
There have been 60 trash dump fires in Poland recently, probably the work of the “trash mafia” which finds it much easier and cheaper to burn the stuff (causing terrible pollution) than it does to process it.
As we have argued before at Breitbart News, recycling is nothing but a form of state-enforced green religious observance.
It’s needlessly costly and time-consuming but what really drags it to the level of criminal lunacy is that it fails to achieve the one thing it’s designed for: improving the health of the planet.
On the contrary, recycling leads to more not less pollution. This was confirmed in a recent report for the Global Warming Policy Foundation, which found that a significant proportion of the plastic waste now choking the oceans emanates from fake recycling operations in the developing world.
The economics are obvious: if you make the disposal of waste unnecessarily complicated and expensive, then you incentivise criminals to come in and fill the gap.
Unfortunately, greens don’t do real economics – only the pretend economics of “sustainability” – so this global problem is unlikely to go away any time soon.”

The two men, ages 47 and 62, were sleeping at Schoeneweide station in suburban Berlin when the unknown assailant poured a liquid over them before setting them and their possessions on fire, police said Monday.
Photos from the scene show the shelter the two men were in had extensive burn damage.

“Just days after United States President Donald Trump’s visit to the United Kingdom sparked a grotesque protest – a giant balloon depicting Trump as an angry baby holding on to a smart phone was flown over central London – a real despot is coming to town.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is scheduled for a red-carpet reception at Mansion House, the residence of London’s Lord Mayor, on Monday morning where he met with business leaders. Later in the afternoon, Al Thani will socialize with MPs at a cozy reception in Parliament.
That would be the same Emir who transfers hundreds of millions of dollars every year to the internationally designated terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza. The money is spent by Hamas on “reconstruction” projects in the coastal enclave, including infrastructure to commit terrorist attacks against Israel.
Also on the list of Al Thani’s beneficiaries is the radical Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas. In June, the Emir dined with notorious Brotherhood leader Yusuf al-Qaradawi who is banned from entering both the U.S. and UK for inciting religious violence. Al Jazeera, Qatar’s state-owned propaganda mouthpiece, has long provided a platform for the hate preacher and other Brotherhood leaders to promote the group’s theocratic ideology, allowing them to decimate their anti-Western world view to more than 60 million people.
The same Emir supports the totalitarian ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a country that hangs homosexuals from cranes; imprisons women for protesting the forced hijab; supplies equipment used by Assad to drop poison gas on children; and spreads mayhem from Lebanon all the way to Yemen. Iran’s aggressive behavior, which Qatar described as a “stabilizing force” in the region, led to a far-reaching diplomatic crisis last year. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut all ties with Qatar over the country’s support for terrorism and close relations with Iran.
Al Thani also bankrolls Salafi jihadist and Sunni Islamist terror groups in Syria, and beyond, that are every bit as vicious as the Islamic State. Qatar has paid ransom demands, shipped supplies, and funneled billions of dollars of funding to groups including al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the Taliban. Qatar’s beneficiaries in Syria — Ahrar al-Sham and its ally Jabhat al-Nusra, al Qaeda’s former offshoot – have carried out suicide bombings, assassination, and kidnappings. In April of 2017, Doha made payments totaling at least $275 million to free nine members of the royal family and 16 other Qatari nationals. Recipients of the money included Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah, and Jabhat Fateh Sham, formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra.
That would be the same Emir who runs a modern-day slave state. According to the Global Slavery Index 2016, Qatar has one of the highest prevalence of modern day slavery proportionate to its population. The report found that the Gulf Emirate has the fifth highest concentrations of “slaves” globally, equating to more than 30,000 people out of a population of 2.24 million. The International Trade Union Confederation estimates that by the time the World Cup takes place in Qatar in 2022, at least 4,000 migrant workers will have died as a result of the country’s draconian working conditions.
And it’s the same Emir who throws into jail his own citizens who dare protest against his and his family’s undemocratic rule. In 2011, Qatari authorities arrested Mohammed al-Ajami for a poem in which he, according to a court, had insulted the former emir and urged the overthrow of the government. Among the offending passages was the line: “If the sheikhs cannot carry out justice, we should change the power.” He was only pardoned after his sentence led to an international outcry.
Unfortunately, for the victims of Qatar’s tyrannical rule, The League of Righteous, who bravely gathered to demonstrate against the American President with a giant balloon, will not be available today to face off the despot from the Gulf. Apparently, for them, human rights are not universal.”
