  2. UN General Assembly Reaches Global Deal on Migration (sputniknews, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201807141066339148-un-general-assembly-accord-migration/

“The UN General Assembly has agreed the first-ever global deal on migration that outlined ways to better manage migrant flows and strengthen people’s rights.

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration will be formally adopted at a UN conference in Morocco on December 10-11, according to a UN press release.

“It does not encourage migration, nor does it aim to stop it. It is not legally binding. It does not dictate. It will not impose. And it fully respects the sovereignty of States,” UNGA President Miroslav Lajcak said.

He described the deal as “the first comprehensive framework on migration the world has ever seen.” It draws on 18 months of negotiations on how to draw out the benefits of migration and mitigate the risks.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he looked to working with all 193 UN member states to implement the agreement to “make migration work for all.”

The UN Migration Agency heralded the pact as an important milestone that would shape the global agenda on migration for decades to come, affecting nearly 260 million international migrants and the communities that host them.”

  3. ‘I dread to think of the suffering’: Eight rare rhinos die in botched conservation effort

“The eight animals likely died of salt poisoning, a release says. The rhinos were unaccustomed to the level of salt in water in their new environment and could not adapt.

In salt poisoning, high salt levels in the water lead animals to become dehydrated. They then began to drink more salty water – a cycle that can eventually kill them.”

Idjits! What, no before-translocation environmental analysis?

    • That is just par for African environmentalism while WRT animal welfare it was well above the usual standard of caring. If you ever have the time watch the DVD Africa Addio to see just how the end of colonialism was appreciated. Zanzibar is typical, that is before oil money made its impact there.
Also to gain and inkling of African competence dig up the story of the Nigerian train “engineer” who under the Brits had only repaired locomotives but after independence was given the job of head of the railways(the most “qualified” as all whites were sacked) while the dregs of political nepotism, cronyism and tribalism filled the ranks with lazy incompetents. Thus when a loco’ broke down no one could repair it. NPs they asked the UN for more help and received German and other loco’s for free. and the sequence continued until now the Lagos train yards are a mecca for diehard railway buffs as most of the loco’s only need minor repairs to work. You have to love the blend of western idealistic largesse and African incompetent corruption. This story is supposedly apocryphal but I talked to a mercenary who had worked there pre-army and he told me about(we were talking about steam loco’s and how my childhood had been the poorer for not having steam locos to watch) it and in fact had known the “engineer” as he came from the same tribe.

      • “Also to gain and inkling of African competence dig up the story of the Nigerian train “engineer” who under the Brits had only repaired locomotives but after independence was given the job of head of the railways (the most “qualified” as all whites were sacked) while the dregs of political nepotism, cronyism and tribalism filled the ranks with lazy incompetents.”

Michelle, we’re talking about sub-Saharan Africa where state rail officials in various places have begged the natives to please not remove the tracks’ railway spikes or rail joining plates—to make spear points or axe-heads—so that entire trains wouldn’t derail when the rails parted.

For all these barking-mad scavengers care, locomotives and entire passenger wagons or freight loads can leave the tracks—just so long as these primitives get a leg up on making the next stabbing tool. Sound familiar? In reality, all of this is because these semi-retarded aborigines cannot possibly understand how a railway works. Nigeria?

Personally, I’m amazed this isn’t happening in Europe already. Well, they’re already praying on the tracks, next they’ll be decaying the tracks.

It’s not as if the onboard train attacks aren’t a form of preying.

        • This is why China is bringing in Chinese labors to build the new railroad in their new colonies.

          • If they can then China is bringing Chinese laborers to all their projects. Regardless of where these projects are. I heard that they wanted to bring their own people to some projects in Europe, too.

  4. ‘Death penalty’: Gaza merchants suffer as trade crossing shuts

    [Al-Jizz … salt to taste]

Maybe it’s time to reconsider launching all of those rockets, burning all those tires, throwing rocks, and chanting “death to Israel!”.

You “Palestinian” rectal cavities need Israel a whole more than Israel has ever needed you. Keep this crap up and maybe Tel Aviv will turn off the water and electricity, too.

  5. Middle children are going extinct because Millennials don’t want three children anymore

“Ahead of National Middle Child Day (it’s Aug. 12, if you forgot), women’s lifestyle magazine “The Cut” points out that middle children could go extinct.

The Sue Hecks and Jan Bradys of the world are becoming a rarity, as family planning trends from the 1970s have essentially reversed.

In 1971, three children was ideal, Pew Research Center notes, citing Gallup data. In the late ’70s, more than 35 percent of moms between 40 and 44 had four or more children and just 22 percent had two children.

Fast forward to a 2014, where Americans now say two children is best, and only 12 percent of women in their early 40s have four or more children. U.S. birth rates declined last year for women in their teens, 20s and their 30s, leading to the fewest babies in 30 years, according to a government report released in May.”

NR: Speaking as a middle child, if three kids are just too much, what’s going to happen when running up against polygamous Muslim families with an average of eight kids?

Yust one more reason why these hive-mind, over-breeders will be shipped out.

    • Many of them only have one child and as soon as they find out just how that cramps their yuppie style that is that. This is fact not opinion and comes from labour wards.

      • They don’t want to mature, they want to stay teenagers for the rest of their lives.

  6. Watch NASA’s iconic Cape Canaveral launch towers crumble

These are just crumbs on the table.

A real loss of history happened when they demolished the Apollo moonshot launch pad. A friend of mind sought to place bids on the scrap metal, but they were rejected.

Imagine what people might have paid for cuff links, earrings, tie tacks, in detailed, high-relief depiction of the lunar surface where America’s lunar missions landed. All certified as having come that launch site. Gold-plated, enameled, silver-filled, whatever.

I offered to design these items of apparel but, after the trashing of this priceless national monument, there was no hope.

It’s dreadful to think about which sort of strategic missions were launched from these latest towers. Recycling them in a productive way might have been insanely profitable.

Imagine having a miniature of the Keyhole spy satellite sitting on your desk or mantelpiece, made from the gantry that launched it into space? Maybe a model of a Jupiter or Gemini rocket?

The possibilities were endless and the usual shortsighted türds at NASA couldn’t bring themselves to see the potential. How tragic.

  7. Long-Sought Higgs Boson Detail Finally Confirmed

“The Higgs boson has finally been observed decaying into the particles it most often decays to – six years after it was discovered. The reason for this delay was noise.

The Large Hadron Collider smashes protons head-on at nearly the speed of light to crack them open, releasing energy and other particles that then combine and condense into even other particles. The rules of particle physics and quantum mechanics specify the probability that some particles will form in this mess. So by smashing numerous protons together repeatedly, millions and millions of times, the collider can maximise the probability of producing particles that physicists can study to understand our universe.

One of them is the Higgs boson. The announcement of its discovery was made in July 2012. By knowing that the Higgs boson exists, physicists were able to ascertain that the theory pegged to this particle, which discusses how elementary particles get their mass, is valid. This is why Peter Higgs and Francois Englert were awarded the physics Nobel Prize in 2013.

The Higgs boson was discovered indirectly. Detectors didn’t spot it directly as much as spotted a few particles in the collision fray that could only have come from a decaying Higgs boson. These were two photons and particles called W and Z bosons.

However, the Higgs boson decays into another kind of particle, called a bottom quark, far more often. Why didn’t physicists simply look for such bottom quarks during the collision to say whether or not they came from a Higgs boson?”

NR: It is the (accurately measured) dual bottom quark decay—after significant improvements to the Large Hadron Collider—that really perked up everybody. Evidently, recent improvements at CERN, involving the ultra-massive ATLAS and CMS detectors, have provided a significantly reduced noise floor which finally permitted observers to sort out machine-created bottom quarks and genuine results from proton intercollisions.

Note: CERN’s Large Hadron Collider finally replaced the Chinese Linotype machine as this world’s most complex mechanism.

As genius, Richard Feynman, was known to say, “There’s plenty of room at the bottom.”

Meaning; way down at the atomic and subatomic scales, there is so much physical and energistic elbowroom that the possibilities are endless.

As we go on to produce nanomaterials, negative index-of-refraction optics, and exotic composite compounds or alloys, these words, and CERN’s research easily might change the course of human history.

    • Feynman’s genius was only in theoretical physics not in theology. Far too many such, as especially if public figures, who are supreme in their own field feel the need to pontificate in areas where they know nothing and it shows. This is the foundation of the Hollywood talking heads who lecture us constantly from ignorance.

      • Quote:”these words, and CERN’s research easily might change the course of human history”

Agreed but that assumes that there will be such a thing , in the future, as “human history”.

        • Agreed but that assumes that there will be such a thing , in the future, as “human history”.

There will be. Us hairless apes are an astonishingly hardy breed.

PS: Personally, I found his “Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!” to be rather boring.

          • After reading one of his rants about religion where his intellectual arrogance shines forth like a nova, I could never stomach any more of him. It is a wonder that he does not have a stool frozen in Perspex labelled “product of a genius” as an original “work of art”.

    • Thank you this is a story that isn’t told that often.

The Marine philosophy of, “If after the battle one Marine is alive and standing on the hill they won the battle.” is why I chose to enlist in the Army, we believe in winning the battles and wars but don’t like the idea of suicide charges. D-Day showed that we can and will do it but prefer to use other methods if possible.

    • Thank you…I so wish that I had several lifetimes as cosmology and astrophysics would be on the agenda for the next one. We were brought up with an 20cm refractor which my brother ruined as he wanted to sit inside in comfort and look at the sky via his PC with a whole 8 bits so he rigged up a set of electric drives and it worked well for a couple of days then he somehow screwed it up and dad never let him use again. In fact it was never used again and disappeared.
It might have had something to do with the fact that several moderately distant neighbouring daughters used to skinny dip in a pool at night but he always denied this.

      • “We were brought up with an 20cm refractor…”

I once had possession of a Questar telescope. This compact 3.5″ diameter tube is a meisterstuck of precision optics and astronomical observation. The lens hood features a gorgeous midnight-purple, precisely enameled star chart complete with magnitudes and altazimuth notation, while the scope’s actual barrel is engraved with a map of the observable lunar surface.

It can focus inside a room at about six feet, and still resolve the rings of Saturn, along with far more distant stellar formations, like Betelgeuse.. As in; it is a long-distance microscope and astronomical telescope (complete with camera photo-coupler port and a sun filter for solar viewing). There is no finer instrument for the casual or professional observer. Full stop.

Here is a twelve minute video (well worth watching) that explains the workings of this technological masterpiece:

        • PS: The 8″ long, 3.5″ diameter Questar has an effective focal length of 1300mm (i.e., well over a meter!). Also, that carrying case is Moroccan kidskin leather and velvet-lined.

Please watch the video and be total astounded.

        • I know all about Questars as I always wanted one. Dad’s telescope was too bulky, too difficult to move and then make work properly. Cassegrainans or Marakovs have always been the WTG IMO but by the time that was possible other obstacles occurred. The closest I came was a 500mm mirror lens for my camera (both from my father when I was 18) but that was stolen along with all of my gear.

          • “I know all about Questars…”

Good on ya, Michelle. Going to Jade Beach, one of the vehicle’s passengers was a Celestron sales rep. She had never heard of Questar telescopes.

At our destination, her bratty little son refused to partake of the picnic lunch I had packed. Right about then a diver emerged from the waves and we struck up a conversation.

I ended up trading a sandwich for a beautiful piece of naturally shaped jade which is now my “hand-stone”.

As soon as we traded, I immediately began using the lanolin from my nose to begin oiling this beautiful specimen.

The woman wondered whatever was I doing, and the diver cut in to explain how human skin oils are ideal for giving some minerals their luster.

He then went on to talk about using Questars (their spotting scope version) for observation of coastal otter populations.

It was about that time this gal realized that she was out of her league.

PS: Happy ending! The whiney-@ssed brat finally began complaining about being hungry only to find out that the sandwich he had refused already had been traded away. Haw, haw!

  8. European Catholic Bishops Meet to Plan Pro-Immigration Media Offensive (breitbart, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/07/14/european-catholic-bishops-meet-to-plan-pro-immigration-media-offensive/

“European Catholic Bishops and delegates responsible for the Pastoral Care of Migrants arrived in Stockholm on Friday to discuss how best to combat negative media on mass immigration.

The title of the three-day summit, “A movement of humanity: the flow of migrants and news. Dialogue and communication for a culture of encounter,” highlights the media-based tone of the encounter, which seeks to implement Pope Francis’s call for a “change in mindset” regarding immigration.

According to event organizers, delegates to the closed-door meeting intend to improve the relationship between migratory flow and public perception, which they suggest is distorted by media that do not always “promote dialogue and the culture of the encounter.”

The bishop of the host city of Stockholm, Cardinal Anders Arborelius, who heads the “migration” section of the European Bishops (CCEE) Commission on Pastoral Care of Social Issues, said Thursday that Pope Francis has a “prophetic voice” regarding immigration and that many people are influenced by him.

Speaking with Crux, a U.S.-based online Catholic website, the bishop of Stockholm said that “not many political partners” follow Francis totally, but “people of all creeds and opinions are listening to him, so there is always a possibility for him to help people open up for a more positive outlook on migration.”

In a statement in preparation for this weekend’s summit, the cardinal insisted on the importance of immigration for the Church.

“The Catholic Church in Sweden is a Church of Migrants,” Arborelius said. “Most of us have come from other countries, and some of us from other denominations. As Christians, we are all pilgrims on the way to God’s heavenly kingdom.”

These reflections on our own status as immigrants, he continued, make us more open to receiving others.

“If we are really aware of this grace, we will also be able to be more open and welcoming to all those migrants that God has sent to us,” he said. “We have our real homeland above. God’s kingdom is our real home. Here below, we are all guests, pilgrims, migrants. We belong together. We have the same vocation: to be the witnesses of Jesus here and now.”

Among the topics on to be addressed in the meeting will be an analysis of how the Church uses the media to talk about immigration, which will include the testimony of various international ecclesial bodies who work in the field of pastoral care for migrants.

Other themes to be dealt with are how the Church “forms and informs its faithful about the phenomenon of migration,” and how the Church uses the media “to witness to the world what it does and thinks about migration.”

The summit will close Sunday morning with the celebration of a migrant Mass with the presence of migrant communities in the Church of Santa Eugenia in Stockholm and a visit to the Abbey of Santa Brigida in Vadstena.”

  9. Italy Receives 450 Migrants on Rescue Vessels Despite Salvini Opposition (breitbart, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2018/07/14/italy-receives-450-migrants-on-rescue-vessels-despite-salvini-opposition/

“Some 450 African migrants have been transferred from a barge onto rescue ships headed for Italy Saturday morning, despite efforts by Interior Minister Matteo Salvini to pause further immigration until the situation could be stabilized.

The migrants were transported aboard two official vessels, one from Italy and one from the European Union (EU), with 176 people are on the ship “Protector” of the Frontex EU border control and another 266 aboard the “Monte Sperone” of Italy’s economic police, the Guardia di Finanza.

The wooden barge left yesterday morning from the Libyan shores of Zuara and not long afterward entered the Italian SAR area (Search and Rescue). At 10:00pm Friday the vessel was a few miles off Lampedusa and Linosa, then the fishermen in the area saw the ship change course and head towards the coast of Sicily.

After a long tug-of-war with Malta, which had taken over the coordination of the rescue without sending ships and denying availability to receive migrants on the island, the Italian government brought in the Guardia di Finanza and Coast Guard vessels to escort the fishing boat.

Eight people, all women and children, were transported to the island of Lampedusa aboard Coast Guard patrol boats for health reasons.

Mr. Salvini has insisted that Italy would not permit the migrants to disembark and that if anything, it was Malta’s responsibility to receive them.

Responding to critics, Salvini said that everything he has done in his first 43 days on the job has been aimed at the security of the Italian people.

In the meantime, Italy’s mainstream media has undertaken a campaign to discredit Salvini, contending that his hardline stance on illegal immigration “does not work.”

At present it is unclear whether the migrants will be permitted to debark at Italian ports or whether they will be directed elsewhere. Mr. Salvini has promised to keep his promise and not give in to pressure tactics.”

    • reuters – Italy rescues migrants, asks other countries to host them: source

MILAN (Reuters) – Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is trying to find countries willing to take in some 450 migrants rescued from an overcrowded ship in the Mediterranean on Saturday, a source at the premier’s office said.

A ship operated by EU border agency Frontex and a vessel owned by Italy’s tax police picked up the migrants near the Italian island of Linosa and more than 100 nautical miles from Malta, which rejected pressure from Rome on Friday to rescue them.

Italy’s far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini is leading a high-profile campaign to exclude humanitarian rescue ships from Italian ports and has said the migrants will not be allowed to land in Italy.

Eight of the migrants who needed medical assistance were taken to the Italian island of Lampedusa for treatment, the source said.

The source, who asked not to be named, said Salvini had spoken with Conte on the telephone about how to resolve the situation.

“The migrants could be distributed immediately among European countries, or Italy would contact Libya to send them back to where they came from,” the source said.

A third option would be to leave the migrants on the ships temporarily while their asylum requests are considered, the source added.

The source said Conte would write to EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, European Council President Donald Tusk and other European heads of state to urge them to apply the European principles on migrants that were restated at a summit in June.

“Italy is no longer willingly to take on, alone, a problem that affects all European countries,” the source said.

Late on Friday, Malta said the people traveling on the packed vessel were Italy’s responsibility.

In two similar stand-offs between Rome and Valletta since Italy’s new populist government took office, migrants ended up in Spain and in Malta.

According to international law, refugees cannot be returned to a place where their lives are in danger. Both the United Nations and EU have acknowledged that Libya is not safe.

Earlier this week, however, Salvini asked EU interior ministers to declare Libya a place of safety where migrants can be taken after they are picked up at sea. German, Austrian and French ministers agreed it could be done, Salvini said.

  10. Open Borders NGO Staff ‘Raped Children’ While Working Abroad (breitbart, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/07/14/open-borders-ngo-staff-raped-children-working-abroad/

“Poverty-stricken children in third world countries were gang-raped and paid for sex by staff working for foreign aid NGO, MPs have been told.

The International Development Committee heard how children revealed a decade ago that they were abused by men at peacekeeping camps while their families reported being powerless to act.

Corinna Csáky, a child development consultant who investigated claims of child abuse carried out by humanitarian staff and peacekeepers in 2008 for Save the Children, said both local and international aid workers were involved in the sexual exploitation of children.

MPs investigating exploitation in the charity sector were told how the research found perpetrators preyed on the most vulnerable, with victims often existing “outside the system” — not on any register for schooling, humanitarian aid nor other services.

“These children are often alone. They are separated from their families. They are living in extreme poverty. Without the protection and support from families, many are using transaction sex just to survive,” Csáky said.

Sharing testimony from the research, for which she interviewed victims from Haiti, South Sudan and the Ivory Coast, she reported a father lamenting that aid workers who abused children “don’t even hide what they are doing”.

MPs heard from the report, entitled ‘No One To Turn To’, how a homeless girl in Haiti was taken “to a man who works for an NGO” by a “group of people who decided to make money off of her”.

“He gave her one American dollar and the little girl was happy to see the money,” according to a young whistleblower. “It was two in the morning. The man took her and raped her. In the morning the little girl could not walk.”

Testimony given at the committee also included evidence from a 14 year-old boy who had described how he and his peers went to work at the peacekeeping camp in order to “earn money to help support our families”.

“Sometimes they ask us to find girls. Sometimes they ask us to find girls, especially our age. Often between eight and 10 men will share two or three girls. They also use their mobile phones to film the girls,” the boy disclosed.

A young girl in Haiti had stated that “the people who are raping us and the people in the office are the same people”, Ms Csáky said, telling the committee that the majority of abuse goes unreported because victims are “scared of retaliation”.

Save the Children, which was last year accused of working with criminal gangs smuggling migrants into Europe, has been under serious scrutiny amidst allegations that the pro-open borders NGO failed to properly investigate claims of sexual misconduct by staff including former chief executive Justin Forsyth and former policy director Brendan Cox — widow of the late Jo Cox.

Having withdrawn from government funding bids as a result of the controversy, the organisation has announced that it expects income this year to plummet by more than £67 million.”

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/988721/london-news-peckham-stabbing-rye-lane-police

“A MAN is fighting for his life after being stabbed in broad daylight this morning.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was attacked on Rye Lane in Peckham, south London this morning shortly before 6:30am.

London 999 report the vicitms was stabbed multiple times and this is the third stabbing in the Southwark area this week.

A witness, who is also from Peckham Rye: “I saw it on my way to work. I can’t believe this sort of thing is happening in broad daylight on a Saturday morning on a high street. It’s so shocking.

“It was at a bus stop and there were lots of people gathered around. It was quite early but there were still people going off to work. They looked really worried.

“The man was on the ground being treated, I think by police. There was already a police car there and another pulled up with its light on, parking on the pavement…”

  12. Londonderry riots: Petrol bombs thrown in SIXTH night of violence (express, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/988407/londonderry-riots-violence-bogside-petrol-bombs-northern-ireland-police-latest-pictures

“POLICE have escaped further murder bids in Londonderry as rioters engaged in a sixth successive night of violence in the city. Two explosive devices were hurled at officers during the dissident republic fomented unrest in the city’s Bogside, with 74 petrol bombs also thrown.

Three men were been arrested, one on suspicion of attempted murder.

Riot police fired four baton rounds at rioters during the disturbances in the republican neighbourhood.

Many of those engaging in violence were youths, some of them of a very young age.

The latest night of disorder flared after the city hosted Twelfth of July Orange Order parades.

Members of the public were also targeted in the violence.

At one point, a hooded rioter hurled a petrol bomb at the windscreen of a van passing through the Bogside from point blank range.

The majority of the missiles were aimed at police stationed on the historic city walls overlooking the Bogside and on Fahan Street leading to the city centre.

Large groups of hooded teenagers lined the streets of the Bogside from 9pm, carrying petrol bombs in shopping bags before starting a makeshift bonfire at the bottom of a busy flyover, in an apparent attempt to goad police into the area.

Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley said: “The disorder in Derry/Londonderry last night, including targeted attacks on police vehicles and others, was completely unacceptable. These sustained attacks have been widely condemned and must end.

“My full support goes to the PSNI and others who are working so hard to end this intolerable violence by a small minority.”

Democratic Unionist leader Arlene Foster tweeted: “Really disturbing scenes last night in Londonderry. Someone will be killed if this continues. The main Party Leaders have jointly called for rioting to end. The police are risking life & limb trying to tackle this. All violence must be condemned.”

Sinn Fein MP for Foyle Elisha McCallion said: “This has got to end before someone gets killed.”…”

    • Quote: “Sinn Fein MP for Foyle Elisha McCallion said: “This has got to end before someone gets killed.”…”

That is rich coming from Sinn Fein. Like muslims the Irish catholics dislike any opposition with a different view. No one made them cross the border into Ulster to gain employment. BUT TBH this is probably a simple extension of antifa’s actions added to the local problems.

        • I think that once given a protestant enclave in Ireland in order to solve the sectarian problems of old that they should be left alone. But it was not protestants invading Eire but RCs invading Ulster(for work) and then demanding political control. As for the protestants being invaders of Ireland, you can say the same thing about the RC Irish who invaded Scotland and took over the Lowlands and still make this apparent(Celtic vs Rangers). So let’s just agree on antifa and leave it there.

  13. 60 Nigerians brought to Russia for World Cup ask for help (abcnews, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/60-nigerians-brought-russia-world-cup-56566607

“About 60 Nigerian men who say they entered Russia on the pretext of being World Cup fans camped outside their country’s embassy in Moscow on Friday asking for help.

Sofiya Dukhovnaya, an activist with the anti-human trafficking group Alternativa, told The Associated Press the men arrived in Russia using a legal loophole posing as World Cup fans.

Six people were dead in all including a suicide car bomber, Capt. Mohamed Hussein told The Associated Press, saying the situation had calmed and security in the area was being tightened.

  16. Deadly Algerian migrant expulsions resume in desert, UN says (abcnews, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/official-algerian-migrant-expulsions-resume-desert-56583944

“Algeria’s government has resumed expelling migrants into the Sahara Desert to die, leaving 391 people to wander through some of the world’s most hostile terrain in the middle of summer, a U.N. migration official said Saturday.

The migrants, from 16 different countries, were abandoned at the border with Niger, according to a tweet from Giuseppe Loprete , the head of the U.N.’s International Organization for Migration in Niger.

The Associated Press reported last month that Algeria has left more than 13,000 migrants in the desert of Niger and Mali since May 2017, forcing them to walk or die under searing heat,

For several weeks after the AP report came out, the expulsions appeared to have been suspended. IOM in Mali said the normally secretive Algerian government seemed to be trying to make an effort to communicate the movement of the migrants. An aid worker with contacts inside Algeria said the government instead was rounding up migrants to jail in detention centers.

IOM has been forced to find the migrants as they stumble through the desert, and many told the AP some of their companions died along the way.

Algeria has an agreement with Niger’s government to deport its citizens by convoy directly to the city of Agadez. But migrants from other countries who have been rounded up in repeated sweeps are trucked to around 15 kilometers (nine miles) from the nearest water and ordered to march through some of the world’s most hostile terrain, where summer temperatures reach well above 40 C (104 F).

The African Union, many of whose member governments count citizens among the expelled migrants, has demanded that Algeria stop abandoning people to die in the desert. The United Nations has also condemned the practice.

Algeria’s opaque government, however, has refused to acknowledge it. Soon after the AP report and a Human Rights Watch report came out detailing the desert expulsions, Algeria asked local journalists to observe the mass detention of migrants, claiming it was proof of their humane treatment. But journalists weren’t permitted to travel beyond the detention centers where they are held before expulsion.”

    • I predicted this a decade ago and as the anti-illegal war hots up all over the world it will become standard for all nth African states: keep them at bay or lose trade advantages. Stopping the rot where western values do not exist is the ONLY way.

  17. Mueller Charges 12 Russians on Hacking Before Trump-Putin Summit

(Bloomberg) — The U.S. special counsel brought election meddling directly to Vladimir Putin’s doorstep just days before the Russian leader plans to meet with President Donald Trump, charging 12 Russian military intelligence officers with computer attacks meant to undermine the Democratic Party.

    [Read the indictment here]

The indictment, announced on Friday, fleshes out U.S. intelligence agencies’ longstanding conclusion that Russia interfered with the 2016 presidential race. The case provides powerful evidence to rebut skeptics — including Trump himself at times — who say Russia may not have had a role.

In a news conference, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein described how units of Russia’s GRU intelligence agency stole emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign, then released them in ways meant to dominate headlines as Americans prepared to vote. In a second operation, the officers targeted election infrastructure and local election officials. They set up servers in the U.S. and Malaysia under fake names to run their operations, paying for their work with cryptocurrency that had been “mined” under their direction.

  18. Man Accused Of Plotting To Burn Down Condo, ‘Kill All The Jews,’ Faces Attempted Murder Charges

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Miami Beach man upset with his Jewish neighbors after he was evicted from his condo reportedly vowed to burn down the building with “all the f***ing Jews.”

Witnesses told police that Walter Stolper, 72, had shown aggression toward some of residents and board of directors of his building at 56th Street and Collins Avenue.

CBS4’S Peter D’Oench spoke with Luis Diaz who alerted authorities at the condo about a conversation he had with Stolper.

“He told me he was tired of the association and the Jews in the building and he wanted to do something about it. He said he wanted to burn down the building. At first, I didn’t think he was serious but then I heard him talk about blocking the fire department and their hoses I realized he was serious and I had to do something,” said Diaz.

“I’m a family guy and I have kids and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them,” he said. “So I contacted the building and they contacted police. I think he needs help. He is a confused older man. I have been his friend for 10 years and I know him because I am a camera technician and have done work for him. At first, I thought he was just angry and venting but I realized it was much more.”

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — McDonald’s salads will be off the menu in two Midwest states until further notice because they may be linked to a parasite infection

Health officials in Illinois and Iowa are investigating an increase in people becoming sick from a parasite that causes intestinal illness.

The Illinois Department of Public Health said in a news release Thursday that it has received confirmation of about 90 cases of cyclosporiasis, which is caused by the Cyclospora parasite. The Iowa Department of Public Health, in its own release, said it has identified 15 cases linked to the same illness and parasite.

  20. How SPOONS could SAVE UK children from forced marriages – ‘They can save lives’ (express, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/988429/forced-marriages-uk-cooperative-academy-Harinder-Kaur

“PUPILS at a school in Leeds are being given spoons in an inventive bid to prevent forced marriages.

The Co-operative Academy have been urging their students to hide spoons in their underwear to trigger medal detectors at airports.

The students are urged to do this if they fear they are being taken overseas to be married.

The spoons will trigger medal detectors and give the children a chance to tell security staff privately.

Harinder Kaur, from the school, says they can “save lives” with the spoons.

She also said that 80 percent of UK forced marriages happen abroad during the summer holidays.

She said: “In the six-weeks holidays we know there is no contact between school and the family and families have that opportunity to go abroad, get their child married and come back.

“It’s a way of making our children aware there is a safety net there.

“As educators, we have a responsibility to empower children wit the knowledge and ability to make a difference to their own lives and the lives of others.”

The school is working with a charity called Karma Nirvana, which campaigns against “honour”-based abuse and forced marriage.

In 2017, the charity took nearly 9,000 calls on its forced marriage helpline.

Furthermore, nearly 200 of those calls were made by children’s aged 15 to under or on their behalf.

The head of learning and development at Karma Nirvana, Natasha Rattu, said girls are condition and taught from a young age to consider arranged marriages to be normal.

She said that the charity’s helpline peaked over the summer holidays.

She also said that the spoon method was successful and it also helps to raise awareness in young people who might not be aware that they are victims of abuse themselves.

She added: “The summer holiday is the ideal time for parents who want to take their child abroad to be married because the school won’t be looking for where they are.’

Parents who force their children to marry can be punished by up to seven years in prison after a law made it a criminal offence in June 2014.”

  21. Fighting ‘fake news’ with the law

Paris (AFP) – Some countries are bringing in legislation to fight “fake news”, a particular menace during election campaigning, but critics warn of the danger to freedom of expression and the media.

Here is a look at the situation in a selection of countries.

    – Germany –

The parliament adopted in June 2017 a law against the posting on social media of hate speech, child pornography, terror-related items and false information.

Under the law social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter can be punished with fines of up to 50 million euros ($58 million) if they fail to remove such illegal content.

Their directors can also be individually fined five million euros.

Critics have warned the law will stifle legitimate free speech by prompting the platforms to excessively delete and censor posts as a precaution.

    Saud Abu Ramadan

(Bloomberg) — Violence flared along the volatile Israel-Gaza Strip border on Saturday, with the Israeli air force striking sites inside the Hamas-ruled enclave including two tunnels designed for attacks, and Palestinian militants firing volleys of mortars and rockets.

No serious casualties were reported on either side. The military said it struck overnight in response to arson attacks from Gaza and assaults against soldiers in the area the day before. Targets hit overnight and in another round at midday include the underground passages, designed so militants can infiltrate Israel to conduct assaults, and a site used to prepare kites and balloons for airborne arson attacks, Israel’s military said.

Hamas security officials said at least 15 sites were struck, and the Israeli military said more than 30 projectiles were fired at southern Israel.

Dem Rep. Steve Cohen says Strzok should get Purple Heart for facing grilling by GOP members
By Joe Newby July 13, 2018

In case you thought House Democrats couldn’t get more ridiculous than applauding FBI agent Peter Strzok for one particularly pathetic attempt to excuse his treacherous actions before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) insulted wounded warriors when he told embattled FBI agent Peter Strzok that he should get a Purple Heart for facing tough questioning from Republicans.

“If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would,” Cohen said, addressing Strzok. “This has been an attack on you and a way to attack Mr. Mueller and the investigation that is to get at Russian collusion involved in our election.”

For those not familiar with it, the Purple Heart is an award given to those wounded or killed while serving in combat with the U.S. military.

  25. Actually liking the Constitution ought to be a job qualification for federal judges
By Benny Huang July 14, 2018

On Monday President Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh, a D.C. Circuit judge, to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by Anthony Kennedy.

“My judicial philosophy is straight forward,” said Kavanaugh at the press conference announcing his nomination. “A judge must be independent and interpret the law, not make the law. A judge must interpret the Constitution as written.”

In a perfect world Kavanaugh’s judicial philosophy would be the default for all judges, but in the flawed world we live in that is just not the case. More than a few believe that their job is to be arbiters of justice, to correct the voters when they are in error, or simply to do what they think is right.

On its face, none of these guiding principles sounds awful. Is it wrong to dispense justice? Well yes, it is, when “justice” is merely a gussied-up political agenda. Is it wrong to correct the voters when they have erred? No, not when their elected representatives are violating the Constitution. That’s called judicial review and it’s right and proper. On the other hand, a judge who strikes down a law simply because he finds it wrongheaded, ineffective, or immoral and then scrounges for a post facto rationalization has committed an egregious offense against the republican form of government. That’s called judicial activism. Is it wrong for a judge to simply do what’s right? Yes, because it’s not his place to decide what’s right. That’s our job.

  26. New Russian ‘hacking’ indictment: Comey basically prophesied in 2017 that we’d key on this
    By J.E. Dyer July 14, 2018

The first thing to understand about the latest round of indictments from the Mueller investigation is that, in terms of understanding what the Russians may have done, they tell us nothing significant that wasn’t already understood in the “Russian interference” narrative.

The indictment names 12 Russians who are accused of intruding into the John Podesta email account, the DCCC IT system, and the DNC IT system, starting in March and April 2016. From those intrusions, according to the indictment, came the leaks of Democratic emails in the summer and early fall of 2016. The indictment identifies Russians as being behind the Guccifer 2.0 persona and the DCLeaks website, purportedly the vehicles for leaking the Democratic emails.

The X-Agent “hacking” tool named in the indictment is associated with the “advanced persistent threat” – APT28 – that the public has been calling Fancy Bear, the name given to it by the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. Fancy Bear has been thought since we first heard of it to be the toolset of choice for a cyber operation against the U.S. election undertaken by the Russian GRU: the military intelligence directorate. The GRU performs functions similar to those of the NSA and DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) in the U.S. military.

All of the “intrusion” information, we have known since 15 Jun 2016. Regarding leaked release of the Democratic emails, the official narrative has not changed since before the November 2016 election (see the Krebs on Security link below). The same thing reportedly suspected then is suspected now. Mueller has just gotten 12 GRU officials indicted for it.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/07/14/new-russian-hacking-indictments-comey-basically-prophesied-in-2017-that-wed-key-on-them/

    • I almost didn’t write this comment since it is moving into the tinfoil hat territory, the problem is that the evidence and the actions of the Dems and they sycophant press allies say that this is real and not the product of someone with too much time on their hands.

This analysis is important for the questions that it raises, if you read it carefully the clear implication is that Brennan was involved with Russian Intelligence in setting up the Russian hacking/interference narrative to try and destroy the Trump Presidency. In 1984 Ted Kennedy sent a representative to Moscow to try and get the KGB to help stop President Reagan from being re-elected, as far as I have heard the KGB turned him down. The implication of the information in this article is that Brennan and Obama did the same thing with the FSB and there is some evidence (evidence based on the Crowd Strike examination of the DNC server which may or may not be true) that this time the FSB accepted the offer and worked with the Dems to tray and sabotage the Trump Campaign and are working with them to try and sabotage the Trump Presidency.

President Trump issued his first public comment about the indictment of 12 Russian military officers “for conspiring to interfere with the 2016 presidential election” by blaming former President Obama and the “deep state” and asking, as many others have, where the DNC server, the so-called “Exhibit A” in the case against the Russian hackers, is currently.

On Saturday morning, Trump tweeted from Scotland that “The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration” and asked “why didn’t they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?” As one of his last acts as president, late in December 2016 and over a month after Trump had won the election, Obama issued sanctions against Russia for the meddling. He also expelled 35 Russian diplomats from the U.S. and ordered two Russian compounds to be closed.

The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration. Why didn’t they do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?

      — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2018

On Friday afternoon, the DOJ announced the indictment of 12 Russian intel officials who are charged with hacking Democratic National Committee officials and dispersing the stolen documents online. However, as explicitly stated in the indictment, there was “no indication that any American was a knowing participant in this activity, and no indication that these efforts altered the vote count in any way”, something Trump has repeatedly noted.

Trump then went on to question “where is the DNC Server, and why didn’t the FBI take possession of it?” He suggested that the server could have been kept hidden by the “Deep State.”

….Where is the DNC Server, and why didn’t the FBI take possession of it? Deep State?

      — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2018

Trump has suggested in the past a conspiracy around the computer servers at the DNC that Russians hacked during the election. The FBI had not directly assessed the hacked server during the agency investigation, instead relying on information from a private security firm, with deep Ukrainian ties.

Separately, as part of his Saturday tweetstorm, Trump again attacked “the Fake News CNN” saying that he checked it “first time in a long time (they are dying in the ratings), to see if they covered my takedown yesterday of Jim Acosta (actually a nice guy). They didn’t! But they did say I already lost in my meeting with Putin. Fake News….”

So funny! I just checked out Fake News CNN, for the first time in a long time (they are dying in the ratings), to see if they covered my takedown yesterday of Jim Acosta (actually a nice guy). They didn’t! But they did say I already lost in my meeting with Putin. Fake News……

      — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2018

He then unveiled his latest nickname, that of CNN president Jeff Zucker, saying “Remember, it was Little Jeff Z and his people, who are told exactly what to say, who said I could not win the election in that “there was no way to 270” (over & over again) in the Electoral College. I got 306! They were sooooo wrong in their election coverage. Still hurting!”

      — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2018

Finally, in his first tweet about about the market in a long time, Trump once again took credit for the Dow hitting 25,000, as well as the current state of the fiscal-stimulus fueled economy, saying “Jobs are at an all time record – and that is before we fix some of the worst trade deals and conditions ever seen by any government. It is all happening!”

The Stock Market hit 25,000 yesterday. Jobs are at an all time record – and that is before we fix some of the worst trade deals and conditions ever seen by any government. It is all happening!

      — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2018

As discussed previously, Trump’s market assessment remain a concern to some, because the higher the stock market goes, the more likely the president is to equate this with investor perceptions of his trade policy. As a result, it affords Trump leeway to unleash even harsher tariffs on China, something he has kept silent about in the past 4 days, enabling the latest market surge.

Several members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are calling on President Donald Trump to consider cancelling his summit in Finland with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for next week.
The calls came after a new indictment in the Russia investigation was announced on Friday.
“If President Trump is not prepared to hold Putin accountable, the summit in Helsinki should not move forward,” Sen. John McCain said.

[…]Similarly, Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Trump should cancel the one-on-one meeting.

Other Democratic members of Congress, including Rep. Adam Schiff and Sen. Tammy Duckworth, issued similar statements.

NYT – ‘Warning Lights Are Blinking Red,’ Top Intelligence Officer Says of Russian Attacks

WASHINGTON — The nation’s top intelligence officer said on Friday that the persistent danger of Russian cyberattacks today was akin to the warnings the United States had of stepped-up terror threats ahead of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

[…]But Mr. Trump and the White House also routinely minimize information about the impact of Moscow’s cyberattacks and intrusion efforts on the 2016 election.

[…]Mr. Coats suggested that if Russia continued to try to take on the United States in the cyberarena, then the administration should “throw everything we have got into it.”

[…]Mr. Coats has previously warned about continuing Russian attempts to influence future elections, including the midterm elections in the fall.

[…]While Mr. Coats did not directly address that issue, he mentioned that a problem in one state could throw the midterms or the next presidential election into doubt.

  29. Bin Laden’s Bodyguard Must Return to Germany After Being Deported, Court Says (sputniknews, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201807141066351721-bin-laden-bodyguard-homecoming/

“German media reported on July 13 that a bodyguard of the late Osama bin Laden, formerly listed as terrorist number one in the world, was transported from a German deportation prison to an airport and sent to Tunisia, where he was handed over to local authorities.

The Administrative Court of Gelsenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia blasted the deportation of former Osama bin Laden bodyguard Sami A. as “grossly unlawful” and “violating basic principles of the rule of law” in its latest resolution regarding the case. The resolution also prescribes the return of Sami A. back to Germany by the foreign authorities as the Tunisian government hasn’t issued assurances that deceased terrorist’s bodyguard won’t be subjected to torture.

So far it is unclear whether Tunisian authorities intend to return Sami A. and whether German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees will be pushing them to do so, as no official statements were made in regards to the court’s resolution.

On the morning of July 13 Sami A., the former bodyguard of Osama bin Laden, the head of Al-Qaeda*, was taken from a deportation prison to an airport and sent to Tunisia on a charter flight, German Bild reported. He has been living in Germany since 1997. His asylum application was denied in 2005 and the Migration Service of North Rhine-Westphalia has been trying to deport Sami A. ever since, but ultimately failed to do so after the state’s court halted the process in 2017, due to fears that Sami A. might be subjected to torture at home.”

French policeman detained after beating inmate on video

PARIS — A French police intern has been detained and investigations are underway after the release of a video showing him repeatedly beating and dragging an inmate in a Paris courthouse.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb condemned the “violent and unacceptable behaviour” of the policeman, saying it “damages the image of all security forces.”

In a statement Thursday night, Collomb said the officer was suspended pending judicial and administrative investigations. He was in detention on Friday.

The video, released Thursday on the website La-bas si j’y suis, shows the officer arguing with an inmate who is resisting returning to his cell. The officer beats him to the ground, handcuffs him, drags him to the cell then repeatedly kicks and beats him even after other officers have arrived.

    • The pool manager said it’s against city policy to wear cotton in public pools, according to Ismaa’eel. If it’s a rule, Ismaa’eel said, “it’s never been enforced.”

Let’s take a moment to ask ourselves: What actions by which particular group might have inspired such a crackdown?!?

    • It’s a health and safety issue.

      from https://www.quora.com/Why-cant-you-wear-cotton-in-the-pool

“Cotton and some other materials can hold detergents, germs, and bacteria in them, which can be released into the water. This can cause swimmers to get sick and even affect the water chemistry and clarity. Cotton also tends to absorb a lot of water and pool chemicals, requiring the pool to use more disinfectant. Additionally, when the cotton absorbs the pool water, it can become pretty heavy, which can weigh down swimmers and make swimming more difficult. Cotton T-shirts also tend not to fit tight to the body, which can increase your risk of underwater entrapment. Finally, cotton breaks down in the water, which clogs the pool filter system. Certain dyed material can also release some of the dye into the pool water, causing poor water clarity and water balance.”

KINGSTON – ONTARIO – Three Family Members Arrested in Relation to Year Long Domestic Incident

In 2017, the victim, a United States citizen, came to Canada and married a 29 year old Kingston man. Following the wedding the victim moved into the Kingston man’s house where he lived with his father, mother and brother.

Over the course of the next 11 months the victim was told she could not leave the home unless accompanied by another member of the family. The victim had her citizenship papers taken from her and was left without any financial security after her jewelry was taken from her. The family then proceeded to isolate the victim from family and friends monitoring her calls and following her around the house to keep watch on her.

After an incident in April 2018 the victim’s husband mother and brother became increasingly violent towards the victim regularly hitting her, pulling her hair and threatening to remove her from the country and kill her. The victim was regularly told that police would not help her because she was not a Canadian citizen and had no proof of who she was.

Finally after an incident in July 2018 where the victim was burned with a hot pair of tongs, the victim escaped the house and hid nearby until a family member who drove nearly three hours could come and pick her up. The victim immediately went into hiding afraid that her husband would find her and kill her. It was only after being reassured by a lawyer that police would help her that the victim returned to Kingston under the cover of darkness to report the abuse that she had endured for the last 11 months.

On July 11, 2018 Kingston Police executed a search warrant at the address of the accused family members. The husband (29-years-old), mother (52-years-old) and brother (27-years-old) were all arrested and transported to Kingston police headquarters.

The husband and mother were jointly charged with possess identity document of another without lawful excuse, and theft. The husband and brother were jointly charged with utter threats to cause death. The mother was charged with assault with a weapon. All three were jointly charged with forcible confinement, assault, and harassment by threatening conduct.

  34. ‘Free Speech Is Dead’ – Police in Khan’s London BAN Pro-Trump Rally at U.S. Embassy (breitbart, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/07/14/police-khans-london-ban-pro-trump-rally-u-s-embassy/

“Police in Sadiq Khan’s London have used the Public Order Act to prevent a rally in support of U.S. President Donald Trump outside the American embassy, despite permitting a large, ill-tempered anti-Trump rally on Friday.

Protestors attending the ‘Welcome Trump’ event had planned to gather outside the embassy and march from there to Whitehall, where they would have joined in with a separate ‘Free Tommy Robinson’ event in support of the activist and independent journalist who was recently imprisoned for contempt of court after reporting on a grooming gang trial.

But the Metropolitan Police Force, which answers to a large extent to Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, used the Public Order Act to impose a raft of restrictions on both groups of protesters which made this impossible — despite allowing far larger anti-Trump protests at which at least six people were arrested to go ahead on Saturday, with demonstrators carrying signs emblazoned with harsh profanity and messages such as “Die Trump Die”…”

  35. Thought Dead, Iran-Allied Houthis Mistakenly Release Tortured Activist (aawsat, Jul 14, 2018)
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1331271/thought-dead-iran-allied-houthis-mistakenly-release-tortured-activist

“Houthi militias in Yemen released an activist they detained a year ago, local activists reported on Friday. Believing that he had died after torching his body, Houthi militants cast the captive’s body on the streets earlier this week in Dahmar, where he was found.

Footage showing the activist’s blistered skin went viral on social networking sites.

Identified as activist Mounir al-Sharqi, footage showed the extent of the torture he was subjected under Houthi imprisonment.

Sharqi has been held captive for over a year with no apparent charges.

Activists reported that hundreds of those incarcerated in Houthi-run prisons in Dhamar, Sanaa and other cities under coup control had received the worst forms of physical and psychological torture.
Sharqi was found unconscious after being thrown on Dahmar streets. Torture marks are etched all over his body.

According to the sources, militias have established black sites in Dhamar, other than official prisons such as the Shouna prison in the Ma’abar area.

Black sites are being used by Iran-backed Houthi militias to probe, interrogate and torture captives.

Houthi militias have stepped up arrests and house raids in the governorates of Ibb, Dhamar and Hajjah, local sources reported.

Human rights activists reported that dozens of civilians were round up by Houthi militiamen in Ibb governorate districts after refusing to join Houthi militant ranks.

Local sources also confirmed that militias bomb-laced three houses and detonated them west of Dhamar, burning down a citizen’s farm.

Most of the violence breaking out is against the backdrop of a sweeping refusal of Yemenis of being drafted into militia ranks.

For the third consecutive day, Houthis have continued their siege on al-Qadm village in Dhamar, preventing any person or entity from entering or leaving the area.

“Houthi militias continue to impose a siege on al-Qadm residents in the Atma governorate for the third day in a row, and continue their campaign of kidnappings and raids against villagers,” Dhamar’s media center for local reporting said.

According to local sources, more than 40 residents, including children under the age of 10 and elderly people over the age of 80, were kidnapped in the past three days as nonstop raids swept across village homes terrorizing children and women.”

    • Both sides are using “black sites”. These inbred subhumans torture for SPORT, war or no war.

The only difference now is outsiders are paying “activists” and “local sources” for juicy details. Proxies on one side or the other are peddling virtually identical stories. I haven’t looked closely enough, but I think some of the clips are _indeed_ identical.

  36. Egypt court sentences 24 Muslim Brotherhood members to life in prison in Zagazig city (ahram, Jul 14, 2018)

The court also sentenced three defendants to three years in prison.

The 27 suspects were arrested in Zagzig, Sharqiya governorate for organising a march supporting the Muslim Brotherhood group and inciting violence in the Nile Delta city.

The Egyptian government designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group in December 2013.”
