Leftists have such excellent solutions to societal problems

Who knew it could be fixed with a simple sign!

On the other hand, when you go from all-go zones, to no-go zones, to zones where one expects you can go, well you have quite a problem don’t you? Like free speech zones on college campuses.

    • Good point EB.

by Brad Birzer – July 2013

    Excerpt:

Anyone who has studied the larger history of the West finds it hard to forget that the defining aspect of a “dark age” is the loss of liberal education. T.S. Eliot dated the beginning of our current dark age to roughly 1898.

Professor Thomas F. Madden concludes this two-part series on the medieval world.

In this course, we will see the error of the commonly held assumption that the “Dark Ages” was a time of superstition, ignorance, and violence. Rather than a time of darkness, the Middle Ages saw extraordinary innovation, invention, and cultural vitality.

It was the Middle Ages that gave us universities, vernacular literature, and the extraordinary beauty of Gothic architecture. To study the medieval world, then, is not only to study a time that has passed away. It is to study the birth of a new culture that would mature into the modern West.

Whether we know it or not, the world we live in today is itself the product of the Middle Ages-not “Dark,” but remarkably bright.

  3. This is reminiscent of the Nuclear Free Zones that sprung up in English cities in the 80s.

Of course we all know they prevented nuclear war, so they will probably also work for ensuring good behaviour.

  4. “Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) 24 November 2017
    Dear T Faber

The sign you refer to in Quaker Street is an old one that should have been
removed by the Local Authority some time ago. That sign relates to the
designation of that area as a Dispersal Zone under Part 4 of the now
    repealed Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003.
As such, that area does not have
the additional provisions in operation as described by the sign. The
provision under the 2003 Act was replaced by those under Section 34
Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. This Act gives the
Police similar powers to disperse groups but the process for designating
the area of operation along with the duration of the designation are
substantially different. Signage is no longer used, as the newer power
only operates for periods of 48 hours whereas the power under the 2003 Act
used to be exercisable for periods of up to 6 months.

We are still processing your request and will respond further in due
course and no later than 4th December 2017 (Day 20).

  5. This reminds me very little of back when Nancy Reagan was spewing her moronic crap about, “Just say no!”

It’s a lot like telling the army to, “Just say bang!”

That sign doesn’t even come close to either of these lunacies
