North Rhine-Westphalia’s (NRW) Minister of the Interior wants to ban knives ‘as far as possible’. Herbert Reul, the state’s Minister announced the measures after numerous stabbing incidents, Tag 24 reports.
“Wherever you can, you should ban the use of knives,” Reul tells the Rheinische Post. “We already have more than ten incidents with knives every day in NRW.”
A knife attack in Lünen, a bloody murder in Viersen, there are stabbing incidents throughout the state. They are also becoming a dangerous problem for the police in NRW.
Interior Minister Raul now wants to take action against knives. For the first time, there will be a weapons ban at Dortmund’s main station this weekend, due to increasing violence.
From 6PM Friday to 7AM Saturday and from 6PM Saturday evening to 7AM Sunday morning, alarm pistols, knives of all kinds, as well as blow, shock and puncture weapons are prohibited.
The Federal Police are reacting to the increasing violence in railway stations, as well. The union of police (GdP) had already suspected “increasing knife attacks in this country”.
Hardly a day goes by without police reports of dangerous or even deadly knife attacks.

“The government of Malta has detained a vessel belonging to the German migrant delivery NGO Sea-Watch, not allowing the ship to leave port following the recent arrest of the captain of another vessel belonging to the NGO Lifeline.
Sea-Watch announced the detention of their vessel, the Sea-Watch 3, on Sunday through a statement on their website which claimed the ship had been detained without reason and called the move “a political campaign to stop civil rescue at sea”.
Sea-Watch 3 Captain Pia Klemp argued that the ship was registered to fly under the Dutch flag, which other vessels were accused of illegally flying by the Italian government.
“Our ship has a proper registration and is fully entitled to fly the Dutch flag. We would be the best equipped and trained rescue crew in the area of operation and there is no legal ground provided so far to justify the detention of our vessel. We expect the authorities to let us sail immediately,” Klemp said.
On Monday, Maltese courts heard testimony in the case of the captain of the Lifeline NGO vessel, operated by Mission Lifeline, who was charged for failing to have correct registration paperwork.
According to investigators, Captain Claus-Peter Reisch is in possession of a ship master’s ticket but it only allows him to command and oversee vessels which do not go more than 30 nautical miles off any given coastline.
Police Inspector Mario Haber added that the NGO ship was registered at a Dutch yacht club although the Netherlands has claimed the ship is not registered with them.
These incidents mark the latest setback for the migrant transport NGOs following their ban from all Italian ports last month at the order of populist Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.

In a pact both sides hailed as a victory, Merkel and Seehofer agreed to tighten border controls and set up closed holding centres to allow the speedy processing of asylum seekers and the repatriations of those who are rejected.
They would either be sent back to EU countries that previously registered them or, in case arrival countries reject this – likely including frontline state Italy – be sent back to Austria, pending an agreement with Vienna.
However, this morning, Austria warned it would ‘take measures to protect’ its borders.
If the agreement reached Monday evening is approved by the German government as a whole, ‘we will be obliged to take measures to avoid disadvantages for Austria and its people,’ the Austrian government said in a statement.
It added it would be ‘ready to take measures to protect our southern borders in particular,’ those with Italy and Slovenia.
‘We are now waiting for a rapid clarification of the German position at a federal level,’ said the statement, signed by Austria’s conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and his allies of the far-right Freedom party, Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache and Interior Minister Herbert Kickl.

“According to a Swedish whistleblower, the administrators of the Facebook group designed to assist Afghan refugees, were aware of the widespread misconduct, but refused to report the abuse in order not to play into the hands of “racists.”
Stefan Lindquist, the district chairman of Left in the Church of Sweden in the town of Härnösand, has sounded the alarm over the sexual abuse and exploitation of unaccompanied refugees in the Facebook group “Stop expulsions to Afghanistan now,” which involves several Social Democratic politicians. The asylum activist reported a dozen such cases to the police.
“Shameless women offer undocumented boys food and shelter in exchange for abuse. There are stories of everything from slave-like work to widespread sexual abuse and rape,” Lindquist wrote in a Facebook post explaining the situation.
According to Lindquist, he filed a report with the police involving “at least ten people,” including the administrators themselves, for failure to report, based on interviews with the victims and fellow asylum activists. Lindquist argued that men also engage in the abuse of undocumented refugees.
“A senior man offered an Afghan boy room and food. The very first evening, he came and masturbated in front of the boy. This whole thing lasted for about a month. The night before the boy finally escaped, he was raped by this man,” Lindquist said. According to him, this incident occurred in Malmö several months ago and was reported to the police. He also stressed that the police have trouble detecting such cases, as most of the victims are illegal immigrants and cannot count on the help of the police.
After Lindquist chose to report the widespread abuse, he was contacted by several upset people. “I hope you understand what terribly big damage a post like this makes for thousands of people,” one of the comments said.
When he tried to raise the issue with the group’s administrators, they responded by blocking him instead. Furthermore, the administrators explained that they specifically refrained from reporting the abuse “for fear of how racists may use this information.”
“I have done nothing wrong, it’s the people who have abused the boys who have done wrong. I think the group must take it for discussion. You must have an action plan on how to combat this. If you hush it up, nothing will be better,” Lindquist said.
Following the exposure, the Facebook group “Stop expulsions to Afghanistan now” has changed its status to member-only.

UN Migration Agency Presents Recommendations to Incoming EU Council Presidency, Austria (IOM, Jul 3, 2018)

Yesterday (02/07) IOM, the UN Migration Agency, presented its migration recommendations to Austria as it took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) on 1 July for a six-month tenure.
IOM is drawing attention to three key areas in its recommendations paper: Africa border and identity management, the EU’s Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF), and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).
“Austria will be leading the rotating EU Presidency through a critical period in the second half of 2018 when the GCM focus shifts to implementation and the EU agrees its next multi-annual financial framework,” Eugenio Ambrosi, IOM Regional Director for the European Union, Norway and Switzerland, said in Brussels.
“Our recommendations are rooted in IOM’s conviction that better migration governance at all levels – national, regional and global – benefits not only migrants, but also their home countries and the countries of destination, and must be governed with political courage, evidence-based vision, and a human-centred approach,” added Ambrosi.
The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is meant to address all aspects of migration and will have implications for both the internal and external policies of the EU.
The EU and its Member States should be encouraged to promote a comprehensive approach to migration that would put the rights, needs, capacities and contributions of migrants at its core, with a view to ensuring their safety, dignity and human rights in line with the GCM vision.
The intergovernmental negotiations on the GCM are scheduled to close in July 2018 and the adoption of the Compact is expected to take place at an intergovernmental conference in December 2018. In this interim period between these two milestones, IOM calls on the Austrian EU Presidency to set up a process to prepare for the implementation of the Compact.
Building on the EU’s migration policy commitments to working with partner countries, as well as on its prioritization of Africa as a key region for cooperation on issues around human mobility, IOM recommends that the Austrian Presidency work with African counterparts towards enhancing their border and identity management capacities to benefit African intraregional mobility and to contribute to safe and regular migration to the EU, the latter supported also by EU’s own visa policy reform.
Finally, integration, social cohesion, human rights, humanitarian aid and development cooperation all need sound investment, as successful migration policies are a long-term societal ambition. For these policies to be strategic, results-oriented and long-term, they need to be properly resourced. This year’s consultations for the next EU Multi-Annual Financial Framework offer a unique opportunity for the EU and its Member States to ensure sustainable and ambitious financial commitments to create a Europe that unites and upholds its international commitments.
IOM calls on the Presidency to allocate appropriate resources for a strategic, results-oriented and long-term migration policy.
“IOM stands ready to support the Presidency and EU member states through its global expertise and operational tools to advance our joint commitment to improving global migration governance and ensuring that each and every migrant is assisted, with their fundamental rights upheld,” said Ambrosi.
IOM’s twice-yearly recommendations to the rotating EU Presidencies are guided by its Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF) which is the first, and so far only global detailed articulation of planned and well-managed migration policies.
The six-month incumbent Presidents of the Council of the EU work together in groups of three in the interest of continuity and coherency. The current Presidential trio comprises Estonia (July/December 2017), Bulgaria (January/June 2018) and Austria (July/December 2018). The presidential representatives chair meetings at every level and propose the guidelines needed for the Council to take decisions.

A man has stabbed a security staff member in the head with a knife at Düsseldorf airport. A police spokesman said on Tuesday morning that a 24-year-old man in the arrivals area of the airport approached the employee from behind early on Tuesday morning and suddenly stabbed him in the head with a knife. The victim was taken to hospital and operated on. The police said his life was not in danger.
The suspect was detained after a short chase on foot. He was not previously known to police. Police are investigating an attempted homicide and are currently working on the basis that the suspect has psychological problems. There is nothing to indicate that this was a politically motivated incident.

From the perspective of some House Democrats, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has the right message. She’s just not always the best messenger.
The Los Angeles lawmaker’s early calls for President Trump’s impeachment and viral showdowns with administration officials have endeared Waters to the party’s young, liberal base. And those stances have also garnered the respect of many House Democrats, who admire how Waters, 79, sticks to her political convictions.
“She is up-to-date, she is smart, she is authentic and she is not scared to express herself,” Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) told The Hill, adding that her constituents in Milwaukee often ask her if she knows Waters. “She is transformative in terms of appealing to different generations of people.”
Yet her most recent remarks — encouraging public confrontation with Cabinet members — rankled some of those colleagues and raised concerns about how Waters would handle increased authority if Democrats regain control of the House in November.

Billionaire Richard Branson: America should give out free cash to fix income inequality
One solution to income inequality is giving out free cash, according to the British billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson.
“A basic income should be introduced in Europe and in America,” Branson told David Gelles of The New York Times.
Branson was responding to the question, “What do you think those in positions of power should do to address social problems like income inequality?”
In a report published in January, the global charity Oxfam found that 82 percent of the growth in global wealth in the previous year went to the top 1 percent of individuals ranked by riches. Meanwhile, the bottom 50 percent had no increase in their wealth, the report says.
“It’s a disgrace to see people sleeping on the streets with this material wealth all around them,” Branson said.
A universal basic income, as it’s known, is a cash payment distributed to residents irrespective of their employment status.

The tow-an-iceberg plan being floated to ease Cape Town drought
Cape Town (AFP) – It is a plan as crazy as the situation is desperate — towing an iceberg from Antarctica to Cape Town to supply fresh water to a city in the grip of drought.
Earlier this year, Cape Town came within weeks of shutting off all its taps and forcing residents to queue for water rations at public standpipes.
The cut-off was narrowly averted as people scrambled to reduce their water usage and Autumn rains saved the day. But the threat is expected to return to the coastal South African city again next year and beyond.

In its never-ending quest to take down President Donald Trump at any price, the Left seemed to hit on something at the end of May: One of its more enterprising sorts found and ran a photo on social media that showed two young purported immigrant children sleeping on the floor of what appeared to be a locked gated enclosure. The photo went instantly viral and seeded the loud and angry protests against Trump’s inhumanity to immigrant children that have been a daily occurrence ever since.
The price of publishing this photo was, of course, the truth since the picture was taken in 2014, during Barack Obama’s presidency.
Although the strategy wasn’t successful in leading to Trump’s immediate ouster, liberals are giving it another try. This time the bait is a U.N. report claiming that poverty is drastically up in America and that Trump’s profligate military spending at the expense of social programs is the reason why.

If the American Civil Liberties Union was ever a champion of its supposed namesake — civil liberties — it no longer is. The Wall Street Journal reports that the ACLU has quietly drafted new guidelines that address which legal battles it will wade into. Civil liberties are now being balanced with other considerations.
In an eight-page memo, the ACLU agonized over whether and when to lend a helping hand to people it clearly despises. It did not categorically reject the possibility that the organization would defend deplorables’ civil liberties, but it left itself plenty of weaselly escape hatches.
It’s complicated, you see. Really, really complicated.
I suspect that the ACLU has always quietly exercised discretion when choosing its cases even if it didn’t say so publicly. To be sure, even these guidelines were for ACLU eyes only, a clear indication that the organization still wants to be perceived as stalwart defenders of the Bill of Rights.
Maintaining the organization’s public image is paramount. As former ACLU president Nadine Strossen said in a recent interview, “The ACLU defends all fundamental freedoms for all people.”

Report: Senate Intel Committee still wants to interview Christopher Steele; ‘cooperation issues’

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has been in weekly contact with lawyers for Christopher Steele but has been unable to secure an interview with the former British spy, who is the author of the infamous dossier alleging collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.

Last week a nationwide criminal arrest warrant was put out on a 51-year-old Canadian named Bill Whatcott. Whatcott was in the Canadian oil sands at the time, driving a bus to support his family. It was a rough job—temporary work in remote, far-north Canada—but the only employment he could find just then to support his family of four.
Whatcott was wanted in Toronto to be charged with “Wilful Promotion of Hatred against an identifiable group, namely the gay community.” The basis for this charge? In 2016 Whatcott had distributed “safe sex” pamphlets at a gay pride parade.
These pamphlets stated homosexuality is associated with sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV of the rectum, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control says is true. The pamphlets also made negative comments about the Liberal party, and stated accusations and facts about several left-wing politicians accused or convicted of various sexual crimes.
For instance, the pamphlets noted that Toronto’s former deputy education minister, who pled guilty to making and distributing child pornography in 2015, had a hand in designing Ontario’s “perverted sex education curriculum.” Government documents show he at the very least oversaw that curriculum’s design, although whether it is “perverted” may be open to debate.

Nunes tightens screws in his probe into surveillance

A secret memo marked “URGENT” detailed how the House Democratic Caucus’s server went “missing” soon after it became evidence in a cybersecurity probe. The secret memo also said more than “40 House offices may have been victims of IT security violations.”
In the memo, Congress’s top law enforcement official, Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, along with Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko, wrote, “We have concluded that the employees [Democratic systems administrator Imran Awan and his family] are an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems and thereby members’ capacity to serve constituents.”
The memo, addressed to the Committee on House Administration (CHA) and dated Feb. 3, 2017, was recently reviewed and transcribed by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The letter bolsters TheDCNF’s previous reporting about the missing server and evidence of fraud on Capitol Hill.
It details how the caucus server, run by then-caucus Chairman Rep. Xavier Becerra, was secretly copied by authorities after the House Inspector General (IG) identified suspicious activity on it, but the Awans’ physical access was not blocked.
But after, the report reads, the server appears to have been secretly replaced with one that looked similar.
The memo called for firing the Pakistani-born aides, revoking all their computer accounts, and changing the locks on any door they had access to.
Rep. Louie Gohmert — a Texas Republican on the House Committee on the Judiciary who has done oversight work on the case — said the missing server contained copies of Congress members’ emails.
“They put 40 members of Congress’s data on one server … That server, with that serial number, has disappeared,” he said.
Multiple sources connected to the investigation told TheDCNF that shortly after an IG report came out identifying the House Democratic Caucus server as key evidence in a criminal probe, the evidence was stolen.
“They [the Awans] deliberately turned over a fake server” to falsify evidence, one official close to the CHA alleged. “It was a breach. The data was completely out of [members’] possession.”
The six-page letter says:
• In September of 2016 … the CHA and [IG] briefed the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus about suspicious activity related to their server that the [IG] identified. As a result, the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus directed the CAO to copy the data from their server and two computers.
• The CHA directed the IG to refer the matter to the US Capitol Police. The USCP initiated an investigation that continues to this day.
• In late 2016, the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus announced his intention to resign from Congress to assume a new position. The CAO and [sergeant-at-arms]
worked with the Chairman to account for his inventory, including the one server.
• While reviewing the inventory, the CAO discovered that the serial number of the server did not match that of the one imaged in September. [Investigators] also discovered that the server in question [the replacement server] was still operating under the employee’s control, contrary to the explicit instructions of the former chairman to turn over all equipment and fully cooperate with the inquiry and investigation. [A House source said the “employee” was Abid Awan.]
• The USCP interviewed relevant staff regarding the missing server.
• On January 24, 2017, the CAO acquired the [replacement] server from the control of the employees and transferred that server to the USCP.
President Donald Trump referenced the Democratic Caucus’ missing server in a tweet. But because the letter to the CHA was kept secret, many news outlets have not grasped that the House’s top cop documented a “missing server” connected to the Democratic Caucus.
The timeline laid out in the letter also shows that Becerra — now California’s Democratic attorney general — failed to ensure that the Awans didn’t have access to House computer systems during the 2016 election, which was wrought with cybersecurity scandals.
An IG presentation from September 2016 shows that Becerra knew of problems months before the server disappeared.
“The Caucus Chief of Staff requested one of the shared employees to not provide IT services or access their computers,” it read. “This shared employee continued.” It’s unclear why that request was not granted or why it was a request rather than an order.
A House official close to the probe said the employee was Abid, who was not on Becerra or the Caucus’s payroll. The official said Becerra Chief of Staff Sean McCluskie apparently knew Abid was accessing Caucus servers. According to payroll records, Abid’s sister-in-law, Hina Alvi, was the Caucus’ systems administrator.
The Awans’ continued physical access to Becerra’s equipment after red flags emerged enabled the server to disappear after it became evidence, House officials close to the investigation told TheDCNF. Becerra has refused to comment, citing an ongoing criminal investigation.
The February 2017 memo itemizes “numerous and egregious violations of House IT security” by members of the Awan family, including using Congress members’ usernames and “the unauthorized storage of sensitive House information outside the House.”
“These employees accessed user accounts and computers for offices that did not employ them, without the knowledge and permission of the impacted Member’s office,” it said, adding, “4 of the employees accessed the Democratic Caucus computers 5,735 times.” More than 100 office computers were open to access from people not on the office’s staff, it said.
Chris Gowen — a former aide to Hillary Clinton who is now serving as Imran’s attorney — told TheDCNF, “There is no missing server and never was.”
He didn’t provide any support for his claim, which is contrary to evidence Kiko and Irving presented to Congress.
The memo said the CHA possesses voluminous evidence, including, “Interview notes with House Members’ Chiefs of Staff,” and “Logon activity and computer access logs.” Prosecutors have not brought charges.
The Awans were banned from Congress’s computer network the day the letter was sent, and Kiko held a briefing to convey the message to chiefs of staff for members who employed them.
But Democrats claim they were never told about any of the cybersecurity issues itemized in the urgent memo. Rep. Jackie Speier — a California Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence who employed Imran and his wife, Hina Alvi — said she never heard of any missing server.
Joaquin Castro of Texas — another Democratic intelligence committee member who employed one of the Awans — told TheDCNF that Kiko never told him of any cybersecurity issues whatsoever and that the Awan probe was instead described as a theft issue.
Indeed, the CHA issued only one public statement on the case and titled it the “House Theft Investigation” — wording that avoids cybersecurity words while political news coverage raged about other cybersecurity issues in the 2016 election.
Yet even the alleged theft has not resulted in criminal charges — even though the letter also says House authorities have “purchase orders and vouchers” that allegedly show procurement fraud, as well as testimony from a Democratic chief of staff to Rep. Yvette Clarke, who warned of procurement fraud.
The FBI arrested Imran at the airport in July 2017 for alleged bank fraud that occurred six months prior, and Democrats have since claimed that the case is about nothing but bank fraud. Bank fraud does not explain why the Awans were kicked off the House network concurrent with the urgent memo, which did not cite bank fraud.
A Democratic IT aide who alleged that Imran solicited a bribe from him told TheDCNF he believes members of Congress are playing dumb and covering the matter up. Wendy Anderson, a former chief of staff to New York Rep. Yvette Clarke, told House investigators that she suspected that her predecessor, Shelley Davis, was working with Abid on a theft scheme, but Clarke refused to fire Abid until outside investigators got involved, TheDCNF reported.
Eighteen months after the evidence was recounted in the urgent memo, prosecution appears to have stalled for reasons not publicly explained. Imran is in court July 3 for a possible plea deal in the bank fraud case. Gohmert said the FBI has refused to accept evidence demonstrating alleged House misconduct, and some witnesses with first-hand knowledge say the bureau has not interviewed them.

BREITBART – Sessions DOJ Declares ‘No Evidence’ Imran Awan Broke Law with Congress’s Computer Systems
The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed a plea deal Tuesday to Imran Awan — former IT staffer for top House Democrats — which states the federal government found “no evidence” that Awan “violated federal law with respect to House computer systems.”
The plea deal states:
The Government has uncovered no evidence that your client violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems. Particularly, the Government has found no evidence that your client illegally removed House data from the House network or from House Members’ offices, stole the House Democratic Caucus Server, stole or destroyed House information technology equipment, or improperly accessed or transferred government information, including classified or sensitive information.
The DOJ’s offer allows Awan to plead guilty to making a false statement on a loan or credit application; a violation of 18 U.S. Code § 1014. Although the crime carries a maximum sentence of 30 years imprisonment and a fine possibly exceeding $1,000,000 with restitution and interest penalties, the DOJ estimates a prison sentence of between zero and six months and a fine between $500 and $9,500 in the event of Awan’s acceptance of its terms.
The offer includes dismissal of all charges against Awan’s wife, Hina Alvi, listed in an August-issued indictment. It expires at the end of the day.
Awan, a Pakistani national, managed IT services for more than 20 congressional Democrats, including former DNC chairwoman Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) over several years.
Wasserman-Schultz opted against firing Awan until after he was arrested and had attempted to flee the country for Pakistan.
In May of 2017, Wasserman-Schultz threatened U.S. Capitol Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa with “consequences” for not returning computer equipment seized as part of a criminal investigation related to Awan and his wife.
Chris Gowen, Awan’s attorney, said last July that “ultra-right-wing-media” had victimized his client with an “anti-Muslim, right-wing smear job.”

1) Whenever I hear the words “Social justice”, my hand rushes for my Glock2. Shortening of the delay of this reflex as a function of the growing occurrence of this phrase.

3) Isomorphism between diversity and perversity.
4) White guilt still lags behind white privilege. More effective affirmative action for elimination and reversal of this lag.

There’s No Political Freedom Without Economic Freedom
Can we have political liberty without first having economic freedom? Is the form of government predetermined by the form of economic organization? At first blush the opposite would seem to be self-evident, i.e., that our form of government determines all else, including our economic structure. But Mises advises otherwise. In Human Action (page 283 of the Mises Institute’s scholars’ edition), Mises explains (my emphasis):

“@DSA_NorthTexas leadership decided to collab with the pigs and pulled their people from the demo leaving undocumented peeps and everyone else at risk of arrest,” Antifa DFW tweeted Monday.
“After speaking with DSA leadership the pigs moved in moments after DSA leaving,” the Antifa Twitter thread continued. “Not all DSA peeps followed their leadership & stayed. Some were even arrested. When Jail Support reached out to collab they were were met with silence. They offered no support to their arrested members.”
