  1. Tensions Rise on Yemen’s Socotra as UAE Deploys More Troops (sputniknews, May 6, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201805061064183809-yemen-uae-socotra-troops/

“Yemen is looking to end its formal alliance with the United Arab Emirates after the latter deployed forces to the Yemeni island of Socotra without the knowledge of Yemen’s exiled government.

Tensions have heightened between the Yemeni government and the UAE after Abu Dhabi deployed some 300 soldiers, along with tanks and artillery, to Socotra over the past few days. The island, located in the Gulf of Aden and sometimes referred to as the ‘Galapagos of the Indian Ocean, is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

According to a senior Yemeni official, the UAE deployed troops in Socotra without informing the government-in-exile of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

“The government had no idea whatsoever,” the official said on Saturday, as reported by AFP…”

Former leader of the militant group Jaysh al-Islam, Mohammed Alloush, has stolen $47 million from its budget, reports the FARS news agency, citing media activists close to the group. There were no official reports confirming the information.

According to the news agency’s sources, he used the money to buy restaurants and commercial centers in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Jaysh al-Islam commanders reportedly called on Alloush to return the stolen sum…”

  3. Afghan forces retake northern district from Taliban (reuters, May 6, 2018)

“Afghan forces backed by air strikes have retaken a district in the northern province of Badakhshan that was seized last week by Taliban insurgents, officials said, as fighting continued across Afghanistan.

Provincial police spokesman Sanaullah Rohani said Kohistan district, which fell to the insurgents on Thursday, was retaken by army and police forces backed by air support on Saturday. Taliban fighters were also pushed back in Teshkan district, where they had taken a number of checkpoints.

“The Taliban suffered heavy casualties, but there is no updated information on the exact number as the area is remote and the telecommunication system weak,” he said.

With the Taliban’s annual spring offensive well under way, there was violence in several parts of the country…”

      • IMO acid attacks are a capital offence and the swine, whoever they are, should be hanged. I have seen what they do to a face and believe me it is not pretty. BUT , in addition the years of never-ending plastic/reconstruction surgery (if bone/ligament damage) it takes a real emotional toll. It turns 20 yo (usually attractive) women into grey-haired diffident freak shows and even after successful repair the damage both mental and physical is apparent It destroys a young life totally. Many are suicidal but it never hits the MSM when they do.

        • Making it a capital offense is a good idea, Britain won’t do it but they should.

        • Personally I see acid attacks as a tactic of the greater issue which is war on our civilization, and not a crime at all. And we must act accordingly.

Its the reason we are losing to Islam so fast and so decisively as I see it, our inability to distinguish between war and crime. One look at the motive and the answer is there.

Sex slave gangs of white children, terrorism (obviously) acid attacks and so on, each may occasionally also have a personal motive or gain, but that is not its primary purpose. Like the soldier who shoots an enemy soldier and takes his supplies, the purpose was not robbery.

          • I see your point, all of the terror attacks are acts of war, and we need to respond to them as acts of war and not crimes. This raises the question of what do we do, we can arrest the people as illegal combatants (under the Geneva Convention illegal combatants have no rights that their captors don’t want to give them) this would open the door to any type of “Punishment” the various governments want to dish out.

How do we get the politicians to decide to call them acts of war and respond accordingly?

          • I also see any and everything done by muslims in the west from simple theft, rape, grooming to smearing faeces on your hamburger as an act of war. This is why I am so harsh in my views WRT islam as IMO we have been at war with is since 632AD. Until this is realized and acted upon I will be called an “authoritarian bitch”. I spent the last 20 years working out why they did what they did and now that I know in detail I see it as worse than any other ideology and extinction material in toto(hurried as I must leave)

        • IMO acid attacks are a capital offence and the swine, whoever they are, should be hanged…

          And your point is?

            • Hardly possible at this point. Same as in Germany. Suppose it will have to get so much worse before “rational” become the new mindset.

            • The British govt? What is that, exactly?

              • Mrs. May, who can’t seem to manage Brexit? Who seeks to restore order by ruthless suppression of dissent?
Her cynical attempt to distract from her own unpopularity with ‘Cold War Redux’ echoes the U.S. scheme to delegitimize our President. Or did the Deep State agents of both countries cook that up together?

              • The Mayor of London?
He’s acting rationally – promoting the MB and the “political wing” of Hezbollah. Paki über alles.

              • The Opposition?
Labour is Communist, as ever seeking the dissolution of the Western nation-state, Islam as wrecking device.

          • “And your point is?”
My point is that we are at war and martial law should rule especially WRT acts by muslims. However with regards to acid attacks and murders anyone proven unequivocally guilty should be hanged. My problem is that I do not trust any government with a death penalty as once in, it can be made the punishment for almost any offence (Germany 1932 5 offences. Germany 1945 235 or close offences.) and we all remember the 5 shilling trapdoor in the UK. Again in those days starvation was the alternative all too often and it was very harsh. but now in the welfare state there is no need for theft to survive and hence the bleeding heart apologists for criminals should be totally ignored.

    • Wealdstone shooting: Children aged 12 and 15 injured in fresh London violence (express, May 6, 2018)
      https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/956003/wealdstone-shooting-high-street-harrow-london-met-police

“TWO children aged 12 and 15 have been injured during a shooting in Harrow, west London, this afternoon in the capital’s latest violent incident.

Police were called to Wealdstone High Street at 1.17pm following reports of the shooting.

On arrival, they found a boy aged 15 lying in the street with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics rushed the youngster to hospital.

His condition is not yet known.

And, just minutes later, a second boy, aged 12, was found in a nearby location who had also been shot.

He was tweeted at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police said they are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

No-one has been arrested and no firearm has been recovered.

  4. Universities Must End ‘Chilling’ Hostility to Free Speech, Says Govt (breitbart, May 6, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/06/universities-must-end-institutional-hostility-to-free-speech/

“Universities must stamp out the “institutional hostility” towards free speech that has taken root on campuses, the universities minister has demanded ahead of a free speech summit.

Sam Gyimah MP called for guidance on free speech in higher education to be re-written for the first time in nearly 30 years.

“A society in which people feel they have a legitimate right to stop someone expressing their views on campus simply because they are unfashionable or unpopular is rather chilling,” he said.

“There is a risk that overzealous interpretation of a dizzying variety of rules is acting as a brake on legal free speech on campus.”

The government has become increasingly concerned by the number of student unions shutting down debate under the guise of “safe spaces,” claiming that certain views “harm” minority groups.

The policy of “no platforming” was originally used against alleged fascists, but has been deployed against reformist Muslims, UKIP members, feminists, and people who criticise transgenderism, political correctness, and abortion – and even Tory MPs.

When not officially sanctioned by institutions, masked leftists and so-called “anti-fascists” have used threats and even violence to silence people they disagree with.

“That is why I am bringing together leaders from across the higher education sector to clarify the rules and regulations around speakers and events to prevent bureaucrats or wreckers on campus from exploiting gaps for their own ends,” Mr. Gyimah added.

Mr. Gyimah will argue the current landscape is “murky” and call for clearer guidance on free speech in universities. Last year his predecessor, Jo Johnson, said universities that did not respect free speech could face penalties and public shaming.

A Department of Education (DoE) paper insisted those failing will face “formal sanctions against the provider including monetary penalties, suspension from the register or deregistration.”

Sir Michael Barber, Chair of the Office for Students, said: “Our universities are places where free speech should always be promoted and fostered.

“That includes the ability for everyone to share views which may be challenging or unpopular, even if that makes some people feel uncomfortable.”

Despite the widespread censorship, radical Muslims are often allowed to speak, with a report last year finding universities hosted 110 events with mostly Islamic extremist speakers in the 2017 academic year…”

  5. Paris Mayor Backs Communist Party Plan to Turn Public Park into Migrant Camp (breitbart, May 6, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/06/communist-activists-paris-mayor-paris-park-asylum-shelter/

“Communist Party councillors elected to the Council of Paris have demanded that part of the Bois de Boulogne park be allocated for asylum seekers to set up a new shelter, with the support of Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

The Communist Party councillors have asked for a part of the park, the former hunting grounds of French kings, be allocated for the use of migrants as the number of new arrivals continues to grow, Le Figaro reports.

The site proposed for the project encompasses almost ten acres and is located near the Longchamp racecourse.

It is not the first time the park has been suggested as a place to house the city’s growing migrant population, many of whom are squatting in makeshift tent camps across the city. The proposal was previously rejected due to the distance of the site to the nearest public transportation.

Jean-Noël Aqua, a Communist adviser, said: “It would be nice if the whole territory, including the west of Paris, contributes to the effort of welcoming migrant people.”…”

  6. Over 20,000 Migrants Cross Sea to Europe in First 122 Days of 2018 (breitbart, May 6, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/06/over-20000-migrants-cross-sea-europe-2018/

“Over 20,000 migrants have travelled to Europe by sea in the first 122 days of 2018, according to the UN Migration Agency.

The International Organization for Migration (IoM) recorded 22,439 sea arrivals in total, with about 42 per cent arriving in Italy, 38 per cent in Greece, and 20 per cent in Spain — where illegal, seaborne migration has been steadily rising, as controls in first Greece and then Italy have tightened.

People-smugglers had also begun to exploit the dangerous Black Sea route to Europe for the first time since 2014 last summer, with almost 500 making landfall in Romania in a month over August-September — but the latest IoM bulletin does not discuss how the situation is developing on this particularly treacherous front.

Despite the slow but steady rise in Spanish landings, monthly arrivals are down significantly on previous years overall, with Greek landings peaking at over 815,000 in 2015, and Italian landings peaking at over 180,000 in 2016.

These numbers were reduced by the negotiation of a multi-billion euro deal with the Islamist government of Turkey to step up containment efforts in the Aegean, and Italian initiatives to crack down on NGO ‘rescue’ ships and encourage the Libyan Coast Guard to intercept smuggler-boats and turn them around.

However, the governments of some Western European countries believe the situation could be worse than the IoM numbers suggest, with EU border states allowing many migrants to pass through their territory unrecorded.

The EU does not permit member-states to deport illegal migrants to the last safe country they passed through — from the United Kingdom to France in the case of Calais migrants, for example — mandating that they can only be sent back to the first EU country they entered.

This creates an incentive for EU border states not to register migrants so that Western European countries cannot discover their original point of entry and send them back.

Dutch migration minister Mark Harbers has complained that 95 per cent of illegal migrants in the Netherlands have arrived from other EU members, but two-thirds of them have never been registered elsewhere…”

    • France- CALAIS : ‘They are particularly violent’ – Police representative on alleged migrant crimes

Gilles Deboves, a Representative of the SGP Police Union, recounted details on Saturday, of a reported attack on French policemen by dozens migrants that occurred in Calais on Friday.

“Unfortunately, the same things happen often recently. In fact, the migrants came to our colleagues present during a food distribution and surrounded them and assaulted them. They were about 50 people and they began to throw stones. They had wooden sticks and they encircled them and wounded two colleagues. They are particularly violent,” Deboves claimed.

  7. Sweden: Criminals Used Grenades 43 Times in 2017 (breitbart, May 6, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/06/43-hand-grenades-used-crimes-sweden-2017/

“The Swedish National Forensic Centre has revealed hand grenades were used in connection with 43 crimes and the rate of grenade use has risen 140 per cent since 2014.

According to Anna Nilsson, an expert in explosive subjects at the National Forensic Centre (NFC), the surge in crimes involving hand grenades is a new phenomenon, Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Radio reports.

“Yes, we have a marked increase in the number of explosive reports. It can be difficult to explain why but we see a clear increase in hand grenades that is relatively new,” Ms Nilsson said.

The centre, which was previously known as the State Forensic Laboratory (SKL), investigated 211 reports of explosives in 2017, compared to 88 in 2011.

60 of last year’s cases turned out to be “bangers,” a type of firework which was recently made illegal in Sweden but can be easily bought online on social media for as little as 200 SEK (£17) for a pack of 20 of the most powerful type according to police.

“They have been compared with the effect of a hand grenade,” Nilsson said.

Of the 43 actual hand grenades used in criminal acts, 21 actually detonated, and the vast majority, 30 out of 43, originated in former Yugoslavia…”

    • Never heard of “criminals” using “grenades”. But have seen jihadists and terrorists using them. Perhaps this may be relevant?

      • They were used by gangsters during Prohibition, since then they have occasionally been used for murders.

  8. Spain rescues 476 migrants crossing Mediterranean Sea (abcnews, May 6, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spain-rescues-476-migrants-crossing-mediterranean-sea-54968809

“Spain’s maritime rescue service says it has saved 476 migrants in a two-day span who were attempting the perilous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea from African shores.

The service says it pulled the migrants from 15 small boats on Friday and Saturday. There were no reported casualties.

Favorable weather in the Strait of Gibraltar appears to have sparked the surge in sea crossings.

Each year, tens of thousands of migrants attempt to reach Spain and other southern European countries by crossing the Mediterranean in smugglers’ boats. Most of the vessels are unfit for open water, and thousands of migrants drown each year.”

“A vehicle carrying shopkeepers on their way to a market has struck a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s northern Faryab province, killing seven of them.

Police spokesman Karim Yuresh says another civilian was wounded in Sunday’s attack, in an area where the Taliban and an Islamic State affiliate are active.

In the eastern Paktia province, a car bomb killed two people and wounded another three. Abdullah Hsart, the provincial governor’s spokesman, says the attack late Saturday targeted Hazart Mohammad Rodwal, a district chief, who was among the wounded. The Taliban claimed the attack.”

  11. Turkey says it will retaliate if U.S. halts weapons sales (reuters, May 6, 2018)
    https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-turkey-defense/turkey-says-it-will-retaliate-if-u-s-halts-weapons-sales-idUKKBN1I7052?rpc=401&

“ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey will retaliate if the United States enacts a proposed law that would halt weapons sales to the country, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Sunday.

Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives released details on Friday of a $717 billion annual defence policy bill, including a measure to temporarily halt weapons sales to Turkey.

In an interview with broadcaster CNN Turk, Cavusoglu said the measures in the bill were wrong, illogical and not fitting between the NATO allies.

“If the United States imposes sanctions on us or takes such a step, Turkey will absolutely retaliate,” Cavusoglu said. “What needs to be done is the U.S. needs to let go of this.”

The proposed U.S. National Defense Authorization Act, which is several steps from becoming law, would ask the Defense Department to provide Congress with a report on the relationship between the United States and Turkey, and would block the sale of major defence equipment until the report was complete.

Turkey plans to buy more than 100 of Lockheed Martin’s (LMT.N) F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets, and is also in talks with Washington over the purchase of Patriot missiles.

Turkey signed an agreement with Russia in December to buy S-400 surface-to-air missile batteries as part of Ankara’s plans to boost its defence capabilities amid threats from Kurdish and Islamist militants at home and conflicts across its borders in Syria and Iraq.

The move to buy S-400s, which are incompatible with the NATO systems, has unnerved NATO member countries, which are already wary of Moscow’s military presence in the Middle East, prompting NATO officials to warn Turkey of unspecified consequences.

Cavusoglu dismissed the warnings, saying Turkey’s relations and agreements with Russia were not an alternative to its ties with the West and accused the United States of trying to control Turkey’s actions.

“Turkey is not a country under your orders, it is an independent country… Speaking to such a country from above, dictating what it can and cannot buy, is not a correct approach and does not fit our alliance,” he said.

Relations between Ankara and Washington have been strained over a host of issues in recent months, including U.S. policy in Syria and a number of legal cases against Turkish and U.S. nationals being held in the two countries.

Last month, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Cavusoglu that the United States was seriously concerned over Ankara’s decision to buy the Russian S-400 missile batteries.

Cavusoglu said he would visit the United States next week to meet Pompeo, but added a specific date had not been set yet.”

  12. ‘Day for Freedom’ protest in London: Milo Yiannopoulos and Tommy Robinson to speak at controversial far-right rally (standard, May 6, 2018)
    https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/day-of-freedom-protest-farright-activists-milo-yiannopoulos-and-tommy-robinson-expected-to-speak-at-a3830671.html

“A band of far-right speakers including Tommy Robinson and Milo Yiannopoulos are expected to speak at a ‘Day for Freedom’ rally in Whitehall today.

Thousands have registered their interest in an online Facebook event, which suggests controversial YouTubers Count Dankula and Sargon of Akkad will also appear at the event near Downing Street.

Mr Robinson – real name Stephen Yaxley – is the former leader of the English Defence League and a correspondent for Canadian right-wing vlog channel The Rebel Media.

The rally, which organisers say is to “defend free speech”, will begin at Whitehall in central London at 3pm.

Mr Yiannopoulos, often referred to as a leading member of the ‘alt right’ movement, is a Trump-supporting anti-feminist, recently disgraced for describing victims of child sexual abuse as “whinging selfish brats”.

YouTuber Mark Meechan – best known as Count Dankula – is expected to appear. Meechan became an outspoken free speech advocate after he was fined £800 for teaching his girlfriend’s pet dog to perform a Nazi salute.

Sargon of Akkad – real name Carl Benjamin – is known for his criticism of feminism, Islam, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the notion of “straight white male privilege”.

In March, Mr Benjamin was forced to end a talk at King’s College London prematurely when a group of masked “anti-fascist” protesters stormed the building, setting off fire alarms and smoke bombs.

In a statement, Mr Robinson said: “This is bigger than me or any of us as individuals so we have to stand up together to defend our freedom of speech.

“We decided to focus our efforts on making sure we pull off a large scale, credible event. So we won’t be marching – instead we have an incredible line-up of speakers, performers, videos and content to offer on the day.

“We want to make May 6 the biggest Free Speech demonstration the UK has seen so please, help us make it happen.”

The Anti-Fascist Student Network (AFSN) urged opponents to join the planned counter-demonstration, writing: “On Sunday, thousands of far-right anti-Muslim bigots will be marching through central London, anti-fascists from across the country need to take to the streets to oppose them

“Since forming the EDL back in 2009, Robinson has been stirring up hatred against Muslims…Robinson may be trying to reinvent himself as a journalist, but he’s still pushing the same hatred.”

The speakers are expected to be joined by members of the right-wing ‘Democratic Football Lads Alliance’ and the ‘Veterans Against Terrorism’ groups.”

Protesters in North West say they will burn doctors who treat patients

Protesters are again blocking access to hospitals in the North West and are threatening to burn doctors who try to access their workplaces to treat patients.

On Friday morning, protesters blocked access to Potchefstroom Hospital. Doctors trying to access the hospital have been threatened with being burnt, Dr Ebrahim Veriava‚ a specialist at Tshepong Hospital, said.

He is monitoring the effect of the protests on his colleagues and the hospitals serving poor and disadvantaged patients.

One doctor took a video of burning tyres outside the hospital. Another doctor sent Veriava pictures of strikers who were removing doctors from wards of Klerksdorp Hospital.

Klerksdorp is a referral hospital treating the sickest patients from across the province but is now short-staffed‚ he explained.

This comes as the South African National Defence Force said its involvement in the crisis had rendered the situation back to normal.

Union Nehawu has been on a go-slow in the province since February‚ disrupting medicine supply at the main medicine warehouse, and is now keeping nurses from work. The union is tired of corruption in the health sector and a shortage of medical staff in hospitals….

  15. Idaho school can’t find small bit of weapons-grade plutonium

    Updated May 04, 2018 05:46 PM
    BOISE, Idaho

A small amount of radioactive, weapons-grade plutonium about the size of a U.S. quarter is missing from an Idaho university that was using it for research, leading federal officials on Friday to propose an $8,500 fine.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Idaho State University can’t account for about a 30th of an ounce (1 gram) of the material that’s used in nuclear reactors and to make nuclear bombs.

The amount is too small to make a nuclear bomb, agency spokesman Victor Dricks said, but could be used to make a dirty bomb to spread radioactive contamination.

  16. Rosie O’Donnell’s campaign donations to Dems went over legal limit

Rosie O’Donnell made illegally over-sized campaign donations to at least five Democratic federal candidates, according to a Post analysis of campaign filings.

The liberal comedian has regularly broken Federal Election Commission rules limiting the total any one person can give to an individual candidate at $2,700 per election. The limit applies separately to primaries, runoffs and general elections.

“Nothing nefarious,” the outspoken star and Donald Trump arch-nemesis wrote in an email to the Post. “I was not choosing to over donate.

“If 2700 is the cut off — [candidates] should refund the money,” she wrote. “I don’t look to see who I can donate most to … I just donate assuming they do not accept what is over the limit.”

  17. VIDEO: Hollywood actress attends anti-gun protest — with armed guards

In video captured by Ben Howe, NRA member Will Haraway asked Milano’s security if he was armed and the man clearly wasn’t amused by the question.

“I’m going to ask you to leave,” the guard said repeatedly, physically backing Haraway up by getting in his face.

“How far do I have to go?” Haraway asked.

“I’m going to need you on the sidewalk,” the agent responded.

“Hypocrite! Alyssa you’re a hypocrite! You have armed security here!” an observer yelled.

Milano’s friends, meanwhile, had no problem denouncing guns while benefiting from her special protected status.

  18. Navy to resurrect fleet to protect the East Coast and North Atlantic from Russia

The U.S. Navy has reactivated a fleet responsible for overseeing the East Coast and North Atlantic – an escalation of the Pentagon’s focus on a resurgent Russia and its expanding military presence.

2nd Fleet, deactivated in 2011 to preserve funds for new ships, will resume operations in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 1, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson told reporters Friday.

“This is a dynamic response to the dynamic security environment,” Richardson said onboard the carrier George H.W. Bush. “So as we’ve seen this great power competition emerge, the Atlantic Ocean is as dynamic a theater as any and particular the North Atlantic, so as we consider high-end naval warfare, fighting in the Atlantic, that will be the 2nd Fleet’s responsibility.”

Navy officials had previously recommended reactivating the fleet as part of broader force structure reviews following last year’s deadly row of collisions among ships at the Japan-based 7th Fleet.

In a separate statement, Richardson invoked Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’ national defense strategy as key guidance to reestablish the fleet, which will extend halfway across the Atlantic until it meets the area of responsibility for Italy-based 7th Fleet.

      • You are right but it could be that they are reading the same signs that I am and expect a major war at any moment, knowing one is coming they want to get the Fleet reactivated and on station before the shooting starts.

Or they are expecting some action by China or Iran and the Russian threat is just an excuse.

I have an active imagination and can thing of several other possible reasons.

  19. Accounts of Anti-Trump Officials

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 1:30 PM PT – Saturday May 5, 2018

The FBI refuses to collect messages from the personal devices of anti-Trump officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

In a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley earlier this week, a top agency official informed him the FBI has not requested any information from Page’s or Strzok’s personal accounts or devices.

Grassley responded to the FBI’s inaction by firing off a letter to Director Christopher Wray, in which he pointed out work-related communications on non-government systems’, could reveal more information about the handling of the Clinton investigation.

He is also seeking more information on the agencies decision and has given the FBI until May 18th to respond to his inquiry.

  21. Anger in France, Britain over Trump’s gun law speech

PARIS/LONDON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump caused anger in France and Britain by suggesting looser gun laws could have helped prevent deadly attacks in Paris in 2015 and linking knife crime in London to a handgun ban.

In a speech to the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Friday, Trump mimicked the shooting of victims in the Paris rampage and said if civilians had been armed “it would have been a whole different story.”

The French government issued its strongest criticism of Trump since he took office and one minister urged the leader to apologise, at a time when President Emmanuel Macron has been reinforcing bilateral ties following a state visit.

“France expresses its firm disapproval of President Trump’s comments about the Paris attacks on Nov. 13, 2015 and demands that the memory of the victims be respected,” the foreign office said in a statement.

“France is proud to be a country where acquiring and carrying firearms is strictly regulated.”

  22. Private police force to go NATIONWIDE as demands soar (express, May 6, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/955851/private-police-force-go-nationwide-demands-soar

“BRITAIN’S first private police force, which has been patrolling wealthy London streets, is set to be rolled out nationwide as demand soars, writes Jon Austin. The My Local Bobby service was set up by former Metropolitan Police detective chief inspector David McKelvey, 54, and Tony Nash, 52, former commander of the London borough of Newham.

Describing itself as “Britain’s first private police force” it allows neighbourhoods who feel let down by over-burdened police officers to hire “local bobbies”.

Their officers, in their distinctive red caps and bibs, have already moved on drunks and drug users during a pilot in London’s Belgravia.

But such is the demand that they are looking at moving to other cities and the suburbs.

Mr McKelvey said: “You don’t see policemen walk around the streets any more.

“If you call 101 it’s a 30-minute wait and it is not a police officer who answers.

“My Local Bobby is basically taking things back to Dixon of Dock Green-style policing.”

A Met spokeswoman said: “Any reports of crime provided to the Met by a third party will always be assessed and dealt with.””

    By J.E. Dyer May 5, 2018

I seem to have missed this in recent days. I was wondering what the sudden popularity of the neologism “incels” (involuntary celebates, or – typically – dateless and un-date-able guys) was about.

I knew that the Toronto vehicle-violence attacker went after mostly women, and seemed to have a beef with them. But I hadn’t heard about “Sex Redistribution Professor.” Apparently, he speculated that society might need to develop social methods of what he called “redistributing sex” – something that, in the dark ages of human history before about 1970, was thought of as regulating it through socially constructive moral attitudes and institutions.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/05/06/hungarian-pm-orban-building-christian-democracy-announces-tougher-immigration-rules/

“After a huge electoral victory that saw his party win a two-thirds super-majority, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán has announced tougher immigration rules and his vision of a Hungary built on “Christian democracy”.

The Hungarian leader announced his new plans in a radio broadcast on Friday, saying: “We are building a Christian democracy. An old-fashioned Christian democracy whose roots are in the European tradition, where human dignity is essential and where there is a separation of powers,” newspaper Ouest France reports.

“We will defend the Christian culture and we will not give the country to foreigners,” Orban added, and spoke about a proposed constitutional amendment from 2016 to limit mass migration, which failed to pass due to the government not having the required two-thirds majority in parliament at the time.

“I feel obliged to implement this constitutional amendment now,” he said.

The amendment could increase the rift between Orbán and the European Union, as it also states that the country will reject any EU rules or policies that could radically change the ethnic makeup of the country or infringe Hungary’s territorial borders…”

Speaking to thousands of supporters in Istanbul, Erdogan said that Ankara’s counterparts in Europe did not show the same determination on the matter.

Turkey began talks to join the EU in 2005, 18 years after applying. While a series of factors slowed negotiations, notably the Cyprus issue and resistance in Germany and France to Turkish membership, since 2016 membership talks have all but collapsed.”

  26. Report: Radical environmentalism could kill millions of inhabitants of poor countries
By LU Staff May 5, 2018

The grim irony of the pursuit of “green” energy is that it may be placing millions of people in poor countries at risk of living much shorter, unhealthier lives due to air pollution, according to a new report from The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF).

Climate change has become an international issue, and environmental activists have painted the situation as increasingly dire. In order to escape the world changing effects of climate change and avert catastrophe, humanity must break its dependence on fossil fuels.

“To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we need to keep the world’s remaining fossil fuels in the ground,” Greenpeace’s website explains about the group’s “Keep It In The Ground” campaign. “That means moving away from coal, oil, and natural gas, and towards a renewable energy future.”

The aim, unfeasible as it is, would actually cause more deaths from pollution as countries in the beginning stages of development are left stuck, unable to progress through the stages of the “energy ladder” that lead to less carbon emissions and a higher standard of living, according to the GWPF report released Friday.

The energy ladder refers to a series of steps and evolutions that countries have to go through in order to reach high stages of development. The ladder starts with burning the worst polluting substances and moves to increasingly cleaner energy types such as natural gas and electricity.

    • If you bother to travel in Asia, Africa or central/south America you will find that wood is the main fuel outside of cities and smoke unavoidable. I always find it strange that they bitch about fossil fuels but ignore wood fires and their CO2 production. I guess that as this is mostly third world, they can do no wrong.

      • Women get congestive heart failure and various cancers from years of cooking over these fires. Terrible toll.

        • People get EMPHYSEMA and copd from being around wood fires all the time.

    • Less frequently mentioned is how forcing “green energy” upon these Third World countries will effectively forbid them from going industrial.

Face it, you can’t run a steel mill with solar panels.

This is more of Liberalism’s “soft bigotry”. Radical environmentalism, like abolitionist veganism, has the potential to kill countless millions of innocent people.

      • Check out “Deep Ecology” the belivers in that doctrine want about 90% of the human race dead so that the Earth can return to a pristine state.

        • Which would put the surviving 10% back to neolithic living, where each man, woman and child requires about 60 sq miles of forested ground worth of resources to survive and survive badly.

That would probably have a worse impact on the environment as the 10% of neolithics, that would be what, 700,000,000? would do far more ecological damage than the total population today.

But it would be good to hear from a real scientist on that. An actual environmental scientist who is not a misanthrope or Marxist.

@Devin Nunes battles DOJ once again. DOJ says disclosure of requested classified information to Congress is dangerous … curious what it is…

    ===========================================
NUNES: Congress to Hold AG Sessions in Contempt

DOJ says “[no]… disclosure…can risk severe consequences”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes revealed Sunday that Congress will hold Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt for refusing to turn over classified information the committee has requested, he stated in a phone interview with Fox and Friends.

“Disclosure of responsive information to such requests can risk severe consequences, including potential loss of human lives, damage to relationships with valued international partners, compromise of ongoing criminal investigations, and interference with intelligence activities,” stated the May, 3 letter from Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd.

But Nunes is not buying it. He warned Sessions that ignoring deadlines requested by Congress will result in contempt. Nunes also referred to comments lambasting Special Counsel Robert Mueller by U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III, who said in a Virginia Federal Court Friday, “we don’t want anyone in this country with unfettered power. It’s unlikely you’re going to persuade me the special prosecutor has power to do anything he or she wants…The American people feel pretty strongly that no one has unfettered power.”

“The only thing left that we can do is we have to move quickly to hold the Attorney General of the United States in contempt…”

Nunes noted that two weeks ago, the committee sent a classified letter to Sessions and “per usual it was ignored… last week we sent a subpoena and we got a letter stating they are not going to comply with our subpoena on very important information that we need.”

“The only thing left that we can do is we have to move quickly to hold the Attorney General of the United States in contempt and that’s what I’m going to press for this week,” Nunes said.

Boyd stated that Nunes’ request had been reviewed by all agencies, including the White House.

“After careful evaluation and following consultations with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the White House, the Department has determined that, consistent with applicable law and longstanding Executive Branch policy, it is not in a position to provide the information responsive to your request regarding a specific individual,” the letter states.

But according to Congressional sources the information requested is necessary for the committee to conduct its review and the constant battles with the DOJ and FBI hamper their ability to do sufficient oversight.

Nunes, like many others have noted their frustration with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation saying, “we found out Friday from the judge (Ellis) it kind of looks like this whole investigation has gone off the rails.”

“If you have a counterintelligence investigation opened up on you as an American citizen, this is done secretly with only a few peoples knowledge and if they go to court they go to a secret court to get a warrant on you like they did with Carter Page. So there is a very small apparatus in our country that holds the check and balance authority between Congress and the Executive Branch and when the Obama administration decided to move forward on a counterintelligence investigation in a campaign of all things that’s how we’ve gotten to here,” he added.

The Department of Justice also shot back on Sunday, released the letter sent to Nunes on May 3, which addressed the classified information Nunes had requested. It appears from the letter Nunes had asked for information on a specific individual, not yet named and considered by DOJ to be a very valuable person for a counterintelligence operation.

The annual Armenian Genocide commemorative event that the Istanbul branch of Turkey’s Human Rights Association (IHD) and the European Grassroots Antiracist Movement (EGAM) planned to hold on April 24 — which they have been holding every year since 2005 — was blocked by police, who seized the placards and banners about the genocide and carried out criminal record checks on participants. Three human rights activists were detained and then released.

In an exclusive interview with Gatestone, Ay?e Günaysu, an activist with the IHD’s Commission Against Racism and Discrimination, said that “on their way to police station, the detainees were made to listen to racist songs containing hostile words concerning Armenians.”

The annual event commemorates the April 24, 1915 round-up, imprisonment and eventual slaughter of more than 200 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Istanbul by Ottoman authorities — and the unfolding of the Armenian Genocide. The victims were brought to a prison, now a building that houses the Museum of Turkish Islamic Art (Türk ?slam Eserleri Müzesi). The Armenians were then taken to the Haydarpa?a railway station, where they were transported to Anatolia for their ultimate extermination. According to Günaysu:

    • I know of one General who left the Air Force while Obama was in office, he reuped as soon as Trump took office.

This man told the facts, the Dems always degrade the military and often expand the mission while downsizing men and material.

Obama did much worse then the previous Dems because he didn’t mothball the equipment he sold it to scrap merchants. This drove the price of scrap metal down and prevented the vehicles being refurbished when he was replaced. He also left many major foreign policy problems boiling. Including two budding nuclear powers who hate our guts. We are now faced with the very real probablity of two major wars on opposite sides of the world and a degraded military to fight them with. We are currently re-manning the 2nd fleet to protect our Eastern shores, rebuilding our ground forces while having to purchase new heavy weapons for them. Rebuilding our Air Power while having to 1) repair most of the current airplanes because of lack of routine maintenance and 2) purchasing new planes to replace the ones Obama illegally scrapped.

We are doing the above while the Deep State in Congress insists that their pet pork barrel projects be funded before they will fund the existential rebuilding of our military. Some of the politicians are hampering the rebuild and damaging the economy from massive ignorance and some from malicious intent based on their Marxist believes.

    • In the west that is par for almost all leftist/socialist governments who strip the military to the bone, but throw money at lunatic leftist projects and illegal aliens.
It is the same economically: the left create a massive debt and then the conservatives who follow slowly drop it down into a surplus only to see the lefto-socialists ruin it again.
Almost all western governments have armed forces a fraction of the size (as a % of population) compared to say 1935 when the world was still certain of peace and depend upon a hard core of professionals so small in number you would be shocked. Conscription is passé and if war occurs on a large scale most western countries would need a year before they could place a REAL army in the field(as opposed to a couple of battalions). This IS military suicide.

      • It will be a while before we see large scale land battles in Europe but that is coming.

You said it will take a year to rebuild their Armies, one year to train the personal but one and a half to two and a half to acquire the weapons they need. In WWII with much less sophisticated weapons it took over a year to equip a Army. Today Europe and to a lesser extent the US will have to retool factories to build the weapons. This takes time.

As part of the nuclear agreement with Iran, U.S. President Trump noted at a recent press conference that “[the U.S.] gave Iran $150 billion and $1.8 billion in cash.”

A substantial portion of that money was used to fund global terror. Just how far Iran’s tentacles reach and to what end was evident in a news item today that most likely didn’t hit the front pages: Morocco announced that it was severing ties with Iran over Tehran’s support for the Polisario Front, a separatist movement in the Western Sahara.

Western Sahara, which borders Morocco, is a disputed territory since Spanish colonialists left the area. It was annexed by Morocco in 1975. Politics aside, the fact that Iran has sent its Lebanese lackey, Hezbollah, into Morocco to train and arm guerrilla fighters to foment dissent against yet another large and relatively moderate Sunni Arab country is both telling and disconcerting.

Iran’s foray into Africa is well known. In Senegal, Iran tried the same thing, until they were expelled in 2011 for transferring weaponry to rebels in the country’s south. In Eritrea, Iran moved into the vacuum created by the post-Cold War withdrawal of both the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

  42. Anger in France over Trump comments on Bataclan attacks

France on Saturday condemned remarks by US President Donald Trump about the 2015 attacks in Paris and called on him to show respect for the victims of the bloodshed that saw jihadists attack the Bataclan concert hall and other targets.

“France expresses its firm disapproval of the comments by President Trump about the attacks of November 13 2015 in Paris and asks for respect of the memory of the victims,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Agnes von der Muhll said in a statement.

Trump spoke about gun laws in France and Britain during a free-wheeling speech in front of gun owners in Texas on Friday.

“Nobody has guns in Paris and we all remember more than 130 people, plus tremendous numbers of people that were horribly, horribly wounded. You notice nobody ever talks about them,” he told the audience.

“They were brutally killed by a small group of terrorists that had guns. They took their time and gunned them down one by one,” Trump added.

He then mimicked the assailants shooting their weapons, saying: “Boom. Come over here. Boom, come over here. Boom.”

The November 2015 attacks by gunman loyal to the Islamic State group were the worst in France’s history and left the capital and wider country deeply traumatised.

Jihadists armed with assault rifles and suicide vests struck outside a France-Germany football match at the national stadium, cafes and bars, and the Bataclan concert hall in a coordinated assault that left 130 people dead and more than 350 wounded.

The comments from Trump came less than a week after French President Emmanuel Macron visited Washington as guest of honour for a state visit which saw both of the leaders eager to stress their friendship.

Former French president Francois Hollande and ex-prime minister Manuel Valls, who were in power at the time of the 2015 attacks, expressed their outrage in separate statements on Saturday.

Hollande called Trump’s remarks “shameful” and said they “said a lot about what he (Trump) thinks of France and its values.”

Valls wrote on Twitter “indecent and incompetent. What more can I say?”

CNN – Trump angers France and Britain with his NRA speech

The French foreign ministry issued a statement Saturday after Trump’s comments.

“France expresses its firm disapproval of President Trump’s remarks … and calls for the respect of the memory of the victims,” it said.

[…]Francois Hollande, who was the French President during the 2015 attacks, tweeted Saturday:
“Donald Trump’s shameful remarks and obscene histrionics say a lot about what he thinks of France and its values. The friendship between our two peoples will not be tainted by disrespect and excessiveness. All my thoughts go to the victims of November 13.”

[…]The Élysée palace responded to that comment by saying, “The free flow of arms within society does not constitute a shield against terrorist attacks. It can instead facilitate the planning of this type of attack.”
And the French ambassador to the United States, Gérard Araud, tweeted: “The statistics of the people killed by guns don’t convince France to change its guns laws.”

    • Seriously they would have found fault with anything he could have said, let alone what he did say. You cannot debate with idiots, lunatics or fanatics. The details of Bataclan have been hidden from 90% of the west and pushed under the magic carpet so as not to upset muslims and trump has dared to remind them. Gutless French cowards.
