  1. BREITBART – Dem Rep Garamendi: I Think Mueller Will Find Proof Trump Camp Worked with Russians to Alter Outcome of Election

On Friday’s edition of CNN’s “The Lead,” Representative John Garamendi (D-CA) stated that while there isn’t clear evidence yet, “I think we’re going to find the proof” that the Trump campaign worked with the Russians to influence the election, “and I think the man that’ll find proof is Mueller.”

Garamendi said, “[W]e’re finding more and more information every day that the Trump campaign is being closer and closer identified in a collusion with the Russians to influence the outcome of the election. Now, the evidence isn’t exactly clear yet. But I must tell you, it is one thing after another, and it’s coming to the point where, yeah, there is collusion.”

He added, “What is believable is that they were working with the Russians to somehow influence the outcome of the campaign. I think we’re going to find the proof of it, and I think the man that’ll find that proof is Mueller. And that’s why there’s so much talk about getting rid of him, somehow firing him, firing the people that could fire him so that new people would be put in that could fire him. This has got to be a major problem for America. We need to know what happens, so that we can write the legislation to make sure that it never happens again.”

    • VICE News – How Truth Lost Its Meaning In Trump’s America: VICE on HBO, Full Episode

In Trump’s America, half the population lives in a world where the “crooked media” tells “fake news” made up of “alternative facts,” while the other half fights to maintain public trust in traditional media.

Much of this stems from the parallel online universe that led up to the 2016 election. Clinton and Trump supporters really don’t listen to each other on Twitter, according to an analysis from the Electome project at the MIT Media Lab provided exclusively to VICE News.

“At least on Twitter, we see that there is a separation of where the journalists, and who the journalists are following, and no one is really listening or plugged into this Trump supporter graph.” Eugene Yi, a data-scientists at the lab told VICE News.

Formerly fringe bloggers, like Milo Yiannopolus and Mike Cernovich, seized the golden opportunity to speak directly to Trump supporters and flooded the internet with false information.

The now-infamous data targeting company Cambridge Analytica allegedly used mass amounts of personal information on the internet to manipulate voters, spreading pro-Trump news, no matter the factual evidence, which may have helped win the election for him.

With Trump in office, conservative new media and the mainstream are now at war over who is “fake news,” and a record low of 32 percent of Americans trust the press. And President Trump’s personal crusade against the traditional press has only deepened the public divide.

But, “the president doesn’t get to decide what the truth is,” CNN’s Jim Acosta, a common target of Trump’s criticisms, told VICE News. VICE’s Isobel Yeung meets the people on the frontlines in the battle for truth.

      • From what I am hearing the US Attorney is going to be making some indictments soon, indictments that will cause a lot of people to start seeking plea bargains to avoid prison. People from the Obama administration.

Visit bongino.com and listen to his latest podcast it tells you where the good stuff starts so you can go back to them.

          • I believe it was he, Dan Bongino? Who was guest hosting for Mark Levin, who I really like a lot but his self-aggrandizement is approaching the interstellar levels.

Dan was quite good. But he stuck to too close a point, but it WAS a good point and I did learn from him.

Now that its warner than – 10 I can start running again and listening to these guys.

            • He does have a large ego, I ignore that because he has a lot of real good sources because of his years in the Secret Service. I like to listen to him, Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch when he makes videos and Mark Levin. They all have good sources and good ideas, I am reluctantly agreeing eith Chris Farrell that the FBI should be disbanded and replaced with another investigative group, possibly inside the Marshals service like he wants.

  2. UK – Protesters march through Telford over child sexual abuse

More than 100 supporters of the Democratic Football Lads Alliance marched through Telford today over child sexual abuse concerns.

The group marched around the town in support of victims of child sexual exploitation and to demand a ‘full Government inquiry’ dedicated to Telford.

Many carried placards which said ‘Victims reach out, we will save you’ and ‘Telford people demand enquiry’.

They gathered at Telford Central railway station at midday before marching to Addenbrooke House, where they taped a letter outlining their concerns to the council building’s door.

Meanwhile about 40 members of the Stand Up To Racism organised a protest in Telford town centre, where they said they were standing against the alliance’s ‘message of hate and division’.

The alliance group marched up to Southwater Square where chants could be heard of “We want justice” as the group came face to face with the anti-racism protesters.[…]

  3. Imprisoned, Tortured French Teen Was Forced to Use Knotted Sheets to Escape Illegal Migrant Boyfriend (breitbart, Mar 31, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/31/french-teen-uses-bed-sheet-escape-migrant-boyfriend-tortured-locked-apartment/

“An 18-year-old French girl escaped the captivity of her illegal migrant boyfriend using a knotted bed sheet to climb down from a ninth-floor apartment balcony after he had held her prisoner and tortured her.

The victim had been brutally tortured by the 24-year-old illegal migrant for three days before she managed to escape and found refuge with her neighbour on the eight floor of the apartment located in the Nantes suburb of Saint-Herblain, Le Parisien reports.

During the three-day period, the migrant had brutally beaten the teen with a rod and cables, had shaved part of her skull, and had dipped her hand into boiling water in what is being described as an act of torture. The girl’s body is reported to have been covered in bruises and her face badly swollen.

She had lived with the migrant for ten months, and the man was soon arrested after the teen escaped. He told police that he vaguely remembered aspects of the story, claiming he had been drunk at the time. Police say that the migrant was already well-known to them.

The 25-year-old is set to be charged with “kidnapping and willful violence” in court.

In the French capital of Paris, many women have reported harassment and threats of sexual violence from migrants in the northern part of the city…”

    • Posted this link on r/The_Donald. Got the usual range of responses, about what she ought to have expected to the bit about the migrant being ‘known’ to the police and so on. Some even wondered if the French will now ban bedsheets and where are the migrant women dating, much less being abused by, the local men.

      Now the ‘fun’ bit:

Surprising number of people also asked when will she be charged with xenophobia and racism…

Al Arabiya gave no further details. The Houthi-run Saba news agency earlier said a ballistic missile was fired at a Saudi National Guard base in Najran, saying it had led to “losses in the ranks of the enemy and its military equipment”.”

  5. We’re not a French toilet! Italy protests RAGE against Macron as French cops INVADE border (express, Mar 31, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/939685/italy-news-france-emmanuel-macron-migrant-crisis-bardonecchia-turin

“ITALY’S parties are coming together to protest against Emmanuel Macron after the French police entered without authorisation an Italian migrant centre in a “brutal act” of violence which may cause an international incident.

Party leaders across the whole political spectrum are speaking out after five French police officers reportedly entered yesterday a migrant centre in Bardonecchia, a city near Turin, close to the French border.

The episode, which took place on Friday night at about 9pm local time (8pm GMT) is sparking outrage among both Italian citizens and party members.

Former Italian prime minister Enrico Letta wrote on Twitter: “The French raid in Bardonecchia is the latest mistake made over the migrant crisis.

“And in Europe they dare to be surprised of the outcome of the Italian elections!”

Augusta Montaruli, right-wing Brothers Of Italy MP, also protested against the action taken by the officers.

She said: “We are not Macron’s toilet.

“This act shows a lack of respect towards Italy and set an unacceptable precedent.

“Brothers of Italy is against the way the migrant crisis has been so far handled by a lazy Europe.

“Italy has been left alone but we won’t stand to be used as one of their toilets too”.

Centre-left wing Democratic Party Daniele Viotti MEP joined the outraged chorus.

He said: “The behaviour of the French officers is extremely serious.

“Italy has to call Macron and reminds him that here foreign agents can’t come and use their authority.

“We are a sovereign country, not a French province.

“They can take urinal analyses in French toilets or ask our officers for help.”….”

  6. Saudi Crown Prince urges US troops to stay in Syria (alaraby, Mar 31, 2018)
    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/3/31/bin-salman-urges-us-troops-to-stay-in-syria

“Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince has called upon Washington to keep troops in Syria, in remarks made to Time magazine, countering US President Donald Trump’s declaration that the military will be withdrawn from the war-torn region “very soon”.

“We believe American troops should stay for at least the mid-term, if not the long-term,” said Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also holds the position of Saudi Defence Minister.

Bin Salman voiced concern that in the absence of the US military, Saudi’s arch-nemesis Iran would be able to expand its unbridled influence over the region. He added that staying in Syria – where US forces are currently fighting remaining Islamic State fighters – would allow Washington to have a say in Syria’s future…”

  7. Turkish president recites Muslim prayer at the Hagia Sophia (wapo, Mar 31, 2018)

“Turkey’s president recited an Islamic prayer Saturday in the Hagia Sophia, a historic Istanbul landmark that has become a symbol of interfaith and diplomatic tensions.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recited the first verse of the Quran at the end of his remarks for an art festival opening, dedicating the prayer to the “souls of all who left us this work as inheritance, especially Istanbul’s conqueror.”

The Hagia Sophia was built during the 6th century Christian Byzantine Empire and served as the seat of the Greek Orthodox Church. It was converted into an imperial mosque with the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul in 1453.

Turkey’s secular founder made the structure a museum in 1935, but there have been discussions by Erdogan’s Islamic-leaning government about turning it back into a mosque.

Thousands of Muslim Turks have prayed outside the Hagia Sophia over the years to demand that it be restored as a place of worship.

In 2015, a cleric recited from the Quran inside the building, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for the first time in 85 years.

The following year, Turkey’s religious authority began hosting and broadcasting religious readings during the holy month of Ramadan and the call to prayer was recited to mark the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed.

Erdogan said Saturday that it was “difficult and emotional” to be speaking at the Hagia Sophia, which he described as a “magnificent and holy.”

Greece has protested the Turkish government’s religious use of the venue, calling it last summer an “affront to the international community.””

  8. A Huge Caravan Of Central Americans Is Headed For The US, And No One In Mexico Dares To Stop Them
“If we all protect each other, we’ll get through this together.”

Taking a drag from her cigarette, a Mexican immigration agent looked out toward a caravan of migrants that grew larger with each step they took on the two-lane highway.
When the agent, who’d covered her uniform with an orange and white shawl, learned that the Central American migrants heading her way numbered more than 1,000, she took off for the restaurant across the street.
“I’m going to have a relaxing Coke,” she told BuzzFeed News.
For five days now hundreds of Central Americans — children, women, and men, most of them from Honduras — have boldly crossed immigration checkpoints, military bases, and police in a desperate, sometimes chaotic march toward the United States. Despite their being in Mexico without authorization, no one has made any effort to stop them.
Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them, but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants.
Organizers like Rodrigo Abeja hope that the sheer size of the crowd will give immigration authorities and criminals pause before trying to stop them.

  10. This afternoon, five Republican members of Congress will meet with Tomio Okamura, Czech politician and founder of the extreme right-wing Freedom and Direct Democracy Party in Prague. Steve King (R-IA), Andy Harris (R-MD), Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) requested the meeting, which Okamura says will cover topics ranging from trade to immigration.

Founded in 2015, the Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD) has been controversial since its inception. Party Secretary Jaroslav Staník called for the gassing of “Jews, gays and Roma.” The party has strong ties to French ultra-nationalist leader Marie Le Pen, and Okamura himself called on the Czech people to walk pigs and dogs in Muslim neighborhoods and around Mosques, and for the ban of “external manifestations of Islam.”

Allison Galbraith, a candidate for the Democratic nomination to oppose Rep. Andrew Harris in Maryland’s First District was appalled. “Know #TFW when you catch your kid doing something ridiculous, & utter words you never expected to have to say? That’s me, right now. Hey Andy—WE REJECT NAZIISM,” she said on Twitter. Galbraith called on Harris to cancel the meeting and reject the ideals of the SDP.

  15. March 31 (UPI) — President Donald Trump has directed the State Department to freeze more than $200 million in aid to Syria, government officials said.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced the planned humanitarian aid for the Syrian recovery effort last month. Trump made his decision after seeing news reports of Tillerson’s financial commitment, officials told the Wall Street Journal.

The decision also came a day after Trump told a crowd in Ohio on Thursday that U.S. troops will “be coming out of Syria, like, very soon.”

In 2017, the State Department spent $200 million in efforts to stabilize Syria, including work to de-mine areas and return service to utilities like water and electricity.

  16. Cultural terrorism in the name of Islam
    By Amil Imani
“The real God is only Allah, and all other false gods should be removed.”

This declaration from the one-eyed cleric Mullah Omar on March 2, 2001 created a chill throughout the free world, succeeding another declaration issued by Afghanistan’s Taliban regime stating that all pre-Islamic statues in the country were to be destroyed. That edict, and the resulting demolition, has been condemned worldwide as “cultural terrorism.”

Much more destruction on a broader range is taking place in Iran under the direction of Iran’s theocrats. The heinous destruction of the two Buddha statues by Afghanistan’s Taliban pales in comparison to the present barbaric designs of the Islamic Republic.

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/31/austria-issued-50-fines-violation-burka-ban-law-far/

“Central European Austria has issued 50 fines to transgressors of the full face covering ban in the first six months since it was enacted, each carrying a punishment of up to €150.
In a sign of how effective the ban has been in changing behaviour and discouraging the garment in public places in the nation, the majority of the 50 fine issued were in the first two months after October 2017 when the ban came into effect.

The fines were also predominantly localised to Vienna — Austria’s capital and most cosmopolitan city, with just nine in Lower Austria, and six in Tyrol, reports top Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

The number of fines given out in the early days of the ban were inflated by activists deliberately provoking police with full face coverings, with Ministry spokesman Alexander Marakovits remarking these actions may have been to see whether police would actually enforce the law. To avoid having to issue fines to visitors to Austria, the nation’s foreign ministry issued guidelines to foreign tourists from countries where full-face veiling for women is common, warning them the practice was not accepted in Austria…”

  20. ‘I’m Used to It, This Is a Very Violent Place’ – Witness to Birmingham Gang Brawl Ended by Stabbing, Acid Attack (breitbart, Mar 31, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/31/birmingham-brawl-witness-used-very-violent-place/

“A shopkeeper who witnessed a mass brawl which ended with one teenager being stabbed multiple times and another having a corrosive substance thrown in his face in multicultural Birmingham said he was “used to” such scenes.

Parkash Singh was serving in Mahli’s Supermarket when a mass brawl broke out at the counter. He said the teens involved were all carrying kitchen knives, with one 17-year-old being stabbed “repeatedly in the back”, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Seconds later, another teenager had a corrosive substance thrown in his face outside a nearby chip shop.

“I wasn’t scared. I’m used to it,” Mr. Singh said nonchalantly. “This is a very violent place.”

The 58-year-old said the young men were all black, appeared to be aged between 18 to 20, had their faces covered, and wore hooded tops.

The brawl comes just days after 35-year-old Mustafa Hassan was arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing elsewhere in the city, and less than a week after a man was imprisoned for stabbing a 15-year-old in the head and neck and a woman in the nose, jaw, and head in seemingly random attacks.

Birmingham is the second biggest city in the United Kingdom by population and one of its most multicultural, with a very large migrant and migrant-descended population.

Its rapid demographic transformation, coupled with the deindustrialisation brought on by the globalisation process, has led to significant problems with crime and social cohesion, which will be the subject of an upcoming documentary by soap star and documentarian Ross Kemp.

Kemp, most famous for his role as TV hardman Grant Mitchell in the long-running BBC series EastEnders, revealed he had to “wear the same body armour that I wore in Syria on the streets of Birmingham” while shooting the programme, which will see him follow armed police and counter-terrorism units in the course of duty.”

    • the guardian –Met chief says social media is behind soaring rate of knife crime

Cressida Dick says trivial disputes can escalate when rivals goad one another online

Britain’s most senior police officer has blamed social media for the soaring rate of knife crime in the UK, particularly among children.

After 13 Londoners were killed in two weeks this month, Met police commissioner Cressida Dick said websites and mobile phone applications such as YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram were partially to blame for the bloodshed.

Speaking to the Times, Dick said trivial disputes could escalate into violence “within minutes” when rivals set out to goad each other on the internet.

“There’s definitely something about the impact of social media in terms of people being able to go from slightly angry with each other to ‘fight’ very quickly,” she said.

She said that insults or threats online “makes [violence] faster, it makes it harder for people to cool down. I’m sure it does rev people up”.

She compared the speed at which young people with no previous or very limited criminal record can become killers to the way some Islamic extremists become radicalised in a matter of days.

Last August, 15-year-old Jermaine Goupall was knifed to death in Thornton Heath in the climax of a feud between rival gangs posting mocking videos on YouTube.

So far this year, 29 people have been knifed to death just in London and fatal stabbings in England and Wales are at their highest levels since 2010-2011.

Dick said drug dealing and absent fathers were also a challenge, but emphasised “it is absolutely as much about socioeconomic factors as anything else”.

She urged recreational drug users to consider the “fear and misery” they were causing by fuelling street dealing and the associated knife crime.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkish-president-slams-kosovos-leader-deportations-54146768

“Turkey’s president has slammed Kosovo’s prime minister for criticizing the deportations of six Turkish men who Turkey claims were supporters of a coup plotter.

Speaking Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was “saddened” that Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj had dismissed his interior minister and intelligence chief on Friday for deporting six Turkish citizens from Kosovo without his permission.

Erdogan, saying Haradinaj would “pay” for this, says “since when have you begun to protect those who work to stage a coup against the Turkish Republic?”

Turkey accuses U.S-based cleric Fethullah Gulen for masterminding the 2016 failed coup. He denies the accusations.

Five Turkish teachers and a doctor were deported from Kosovo for alleged links to Gulen in a joint operation by the intelligence services of Kosovo and Turkey.”

The Government has announced it will invite applications to participate in pilot schemes under which voters would have to produce identification to vote to reduce the risk of “endemic corruption” and protect the democratic process.

The voter ID scheme may be trialled in 18 areas which have been identified by police and the Electoral Commission as being “vulnerable” to voting fraud, including Bradford and Birmingham. The pilot schemes would be implemented during local elections in May 2018 before being rolled out nationwide.

The Kurdish campaign for the liberation of Afrin and the Catalan movement demanding the release of political prisoners were among the marching crowds.

Banners and chants protested NATO policies, demanded ceasefire in Yemen and Syria, and criticised US President Donald Trump and other world leaders.

  24. APPLICATION FOR “MARCH FOR OUR LIVES” WAS MADE MONTHS BEFORE PARKLAND SCHOOL SHOOTING

Public demonstrations, especially those that are large-scale like March For Our Lives, require a permit from the police department of the city in which the demonstration will take place.

European political researcher Ole Dammegard contacted the Metropolitan D. C. Police Department concerning the permit for the March For Our Lives demonstration in Washington, D.C.

Dammegard received this email from Officer Scott C. Earhardt of the Homeland Security Bureau of the Metropolitan Police Department:

    Good morning,

In reference to your inquiry concerning the March For Our Lives Demonstration, here in the District of Columbia on March 24, 2018. MPD received a permit application several months prior to the actual event, and there was several months of planning for this large event.

    Here are some facts:

    1. The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School occurred on February 14, 2018.
2.A day after the shooting, on February 15, 2018, MSD students formed the group, Never Again MSD.
3.On March 24, 2018, March For Our Lives demonstrations took place in Washington, D.C. (and other cities).
4.Among the organizers of March For Our Lives is Never Again MSD, which had not existed before February 15.
5.The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department received a permit application for March For Our Lives demonstration “several months prior to the actual event”.

    QUESTIONS:

How can Never Again MSD apply for a permit “several months” BEFORE the group had even been formed?
How can an application be made for a permit for a “March For Our Lives” demonstration “several months” BEFORE the Parkland MSD school shooting that galvanized MSD students to form the Never Again MSD group that organized the demonstration?

  25. San Francisco – Immigration chief in SF apologizes for social media post seen as offensive

    https://s.hdnux.com/photos/72/33/17/15315907/13/920×1240.jpg

The head of federal immigration enforcement in Northern California apologized for posting an image on social media that Muslim American groups say is offensive because it dehumanizes Muslim women.

David Jennings, head of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in San Francisco, shared the image — an online meme that spread around the world — on LinkedIn in an attempt at humor. The Chronicle noticed the post this week.

The image depicts three patio umbrellas that are intended to resemble three people in body-covering burqas along with the caption, “I spent 30 minutes talking to them to learn more about their culture until the barman told me they were umbrellas.”

In a caption attached to the post, Jennings wrote that he was trying to use “lessons learned from my terrorism mentor … Guess I need more work.” After The Chronicle asked ICE officials about the post, Jennings removed it from the job-oriented social networking site.

Jennings said in a statement that it was “directed to a former co-worker and instructor in Arab culture and was meant to poke fun at myself and use me as an example to show that everyone can and should keep learning about people from different cultures, including people like me with extensive experience working with different cultures and traditions.”

“I am horrified that the post would be taken as anything other than a dig at myself, but upon further reflection, I understand how it could be interpreted otherwise and am truly sorry,” he said. “It was not my intention to offend anyone and I hope that the explanation of my intent assuages any hurt the post may have inadvertently caused.”

Jennings, who as field office director oversees immigration enforcement in California from Bakersfield to the Oregon border, as well as in Hawaii and Guam, shared the image three months ago. The post was “liked” by another ICE official in a separate office.

Immigration experts and advocates said the post raises concerns about Jennings and the way he views Muslims. The discovery comes amid increased tension between California and the Trump administration over ICE enforcement and the state’s pro-immigrant sanctuary laws.

“That he did not see the problem with his post until it was pointed out worries me about his ability to lead and carry out his duties, particularly as they relate to immigrants from Muslim-majority countries,” said Zahra Billoo, head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Bay Area. “Unfortunately, this follows the trend that our president and his administration have set in their offensive and often dangerous language.”

Jennings is currently on detail in Washington, D.C., agency officials said. He has been director in San Francisco since July 2016, overseeing the deportation officers assigned to the region and more than 300 employees in total, according to his LinkedIn page. Previously, Jennings directed the Los Angeles and Houston field offices.

Jennings has worked in immigration enforcement for more than 20 years except for a stretch from September 2001 to January 2005, when he was a senior special agent for the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Sacramento.

Dalia Mogahed, research director for the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, a think tank in Washington, D.C., that seeks to empower American Muslims, said that despite Jennings’ explanation that he was poking fun at himself, the post was “unsettling.”

“The ICE field director reproduced a link between terrorism and Muslims by tagging his ‘terrorism mentor’ on a post featuring a picture of what at first glance looks like Muslim women in full burqas,” she said.

The image, Mogahed said, reinforces the “othering of Muslims as a strange, almost alien species, dehumanized to the point of being mistaken for inanimate objects.” The meme, she said, “plays on the stereotype of silent and subjugated Muslim women, where the non-response of the umbrellas was not an immediate tip-off that these weren’t human beings.”

Last year in England, a politician from the conservative UK Independence Party was criticized and investigated by his party after sharing the image on Twitter, along with other posts about Muslims.

Pratheepan Gulasekaram, a professor and immigration expert at Santa Clara University School of Law, said Jennings’ senior position in ICE made the post more weighty.

“Because he is a law enforcement officer with supervisory power, and that power is primarily exercised in enforcement actions against those racially and religiously different than him, his bigoted joke raises serious concerns about what motivates his enforcement decisions,” Gulasekaram said.

He said the post “raises broader concerns about leadership in ICE, and how the supervisors of the largest federal law enforcement branch might dehumanize and ridicule minority cultures, races and religions, even as they are charged with investigating and enforcing against portions of those communities.”

  26. FRANCE TO SEND TROOPS TO SYRIA

France is to “very quickly” send troops to Manbij in northern Syria to block the advance of Turkish forces, French media reported a Syrian delegation who met the president as saying, as President Donald Trump said the U.S. would be coming out of Syria “very soon.” – reported The Defence Post.

French President Emmanuel Macron received the delegation of Arabs, Christians and Kurds from northern Syria at the Elysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, March 29 and spoke with them for an hour.

Macron said that French troops would be deployed in the Manbij area, in coordination with the United States, Le Parisien reported members of the delegation as saying at a press conference after the meeting.

Delegates said that France would “reinforce” its presence.

According to Le Parisien, the aim of the deployment is to block the advance of the Turkish army, and a Kurdish representative said that the French troops will be deployed “very quickly.”

France first admitted that it had special operations forces on the ground in Syria in June 2016, when Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian confirmed that France was providing weapons, air support and advice to the SDF during the battle to recapture Manbij from Islamic State. French troops were also spotted during the battle for Tabqa in 2017.

On Wednesday, Turkey’s MGK national security council said that if the YPG does not leave Manbij, Turkey would “not hesitate to take initiative by itself as it did in other regions.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was informed of the meeting by the French Ambassador to Ankara, Le Parisien originally reported, but this has been removed from the report. Le Figaro also reports that the French Ambassador was asked to relay the information to Erdogan.

UPDATE March 29 Le Parisien has updated its story and now cites Kurdish representative Asya Abdullah (TEV-DEM Co-chair) as saying that France would send soldiers to Manbij at the press conference after meeting Macron. It has removed the report of the aims and timing of the deployment, although Le Parisien’s reporter tweeted the “very quickly” remark at the time.

Le Figaro reported that, when contacted, the Elysee said “do not present things this way” and referred to a statement. Le Figaro reporter Georges Malbrunot tweeted that the Elysee said “The statement does not mention an element of this nature,” referring to a possible troop deployment.

Le Figaro’s report hedges, saying that French soldiers could be deployed to the Manbij area, but is clear that any deployment “aims to prevent an offensive by the Turkish forces.”

Reuters reported that the French presidency “declined to comment on whether Paris was sending troops.”

According to Reuters, Macron’s office said France has offered to mediate between Turkey and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

In the statement, the Elysee said Macron reaffirmed that the priority was the battle against “the terrorist threat” and assured the SDF of French support in stabilising northeast Syria “within the framework of inclusive and balanced governance, to prevent the resurgence of Daesh while awaiting a political solution to the Syrian conflict.”

Macron expressed hope that “a dialogue can be established between the SDF and Turkey with help from France and the international community,” the statement said.

According to AFP, Asya Abdullah told reporters at the press conference that France was planning on sending “new French troops to Manbij,” adding that “The cooperation will be reinforced.”

However, Macron’s office said in a Friday statement that “France is not planning any new military operation on the ground in northern Syria outside the international coalition against Daesh,” AFP reported.

A spokesperson for the French embassy in the U.S. directed The Defense Post to a statement from the president’s office, saying Macron “assured the SDF of France’s support, particularly with respect to the stabilization of the security zone in northeastern Syria, as part of a system of inclusive, balanced governance, to prevent any resurgence on the part of Daesh pending a political solution to the Syrian conflict,” and that he reaffirmed that “following the Security Council’s adoption of resolution 2401, France had clearly expressed its concern over the situation in Afrin district and demanded the full access of civilian populations to humanitarian aid.”

The defense ministry did not respond to request for comment.

Turkey on Friday dismissed Macron’s offer to help establish a dialogue, a move likely to further fuel tension with Paris, which has expressed clear concerns over an ongoing Turkish military.

“We are extremely saddened by France’s… wrong stance on this issue,” Erdogan said during a speech in Ankara.

“We reject any efforts to promote ‘dialogue’, ‘contact’ or ‘mediation’ between Turkey and those terrorist organisations,” presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin tweeted.

“Turkey’s position on PKK/PYD/YPG, which seeks to legitimise itself as SDF, is perfectly clear,” Kalin said.

“The countries we consider friends and allies must take a clear stand against all forms of terrorism,” he said.
“The various names and disguises cannot hide the true identity of the terrorist organisation.”

Turkey’s Anadolu news agency later published a map of what it said were the locations of five French military bases in northern Syria and claimed more than 70 French special operations forces were in the country.

Another delegate, Khaled Issa, the Paris representative of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, told Reuters that Macron promised to send more troops to the area and that France would provide humanitarian assistance and press for a diplomatic solution.

“There will be reinforcements to help secure from attacks by Islamic State and stop a foreign aggression,” Issa said. “It’s message that this irresponsible action from the Islamists in Ankara stops.”

“France is going to reinforce its military presence,” AFP reported Issa as saying.

According to the Marianne news magazine, Issa said: “Yes, France will help us militarily in Manbij and help us diplomatically so that the Turkish troops withdraw from Afrin.”

“Afrin is no longer alone,” Issa said, Le Figaro reported. “France has lived up to its commitment in the fight against terrorism.”

According to ANF, the delegation included TEV-DEM Co-chair Asya Abdullah; Afrin Canton Executive Council Co-chair Hêvin Re?îd; Cizire Canton Foreign Affairs Council Co-chair Siham Qiryo; Cizirê Region Executive Council Member Faner Gaêt; Syrian Democratic Forces Foreign Affairs Official Rêdur Xelil, YPJ spokesperson Nesrin Abdullah and Northern Syria Autonomous Administration Representative for France, Dr. Khaled Issa.

Trump says US coming out of Syria ‘very soon’
Meanwhile, Trump said the U.S. would be coming out of Syria “very soon” and would “let the other people take care of it now.”

“By the way we’re knocking the hell out of ISIS. We’re coming out of Syria very soon. Let the other people take care of it now, very soon. Very soon, we’re coming out. We’ll have 100 percent of the caliphate as they call it, sometimes referred to as land, we are taking it all back quickly, quickly,” Trump said.

“We’re going to be coming out of there real soon, going back to our country where we belong, where we want to be,” he said.

Speaking at a press conference shortly after Trump’s remarks, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert was asked if she was “aware of any policy determination to pull all – to pull the U.S. out of Syria?”

“I am not, no. No,” Nauert said.

“But I can say that, as a general matter, this administration looks to other countries to help out. Far too often, the United States has been the leading country in efforts, whether they be humanitarian efforts or leading fighting efforts to try to help out a country, save a country, or fight a war. So the United States, under this administration, looks for other parties to do more,” Nauert said.

On Friday, spokesperson Kino Gabriel told Reuters that the SDF had not been informed of any plan to withdraw U.S. forces operating in Syria.

“Our work and coordination (with the coalition) is continuing in the framework of the support program and joint operations in all regions,” Gabriel said.

Referring to Trump’s statement, Gabriel said it “was not clear”, adding “statements that came from other American officials in the American administration did not confirm that or deny it.”

    • France denies its intention to launch a military operation alone in northern Syria

France denied on Friday its intention to launch any military operation in the north of Syria in a separate framework for the international coalition led by the United States of America.

The statements came after an official of the Kurdish protection militias said that France would send military forces to Manbij where “Khalid Issa,” representative of the “Kurdish protection” and northern Syria in Paris, after meeting with Macron confirmed that the latter promised to send more troops to the region aiming at Humanitarian assistance and pressure for a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

France is launching air strikes in Syria as part of the international coalition against the “Islamic State” organization (ISIS), as well as providing support to the “Syria’s Democratic Forces” militias as Washington’s ally in Syrian territory.

A delegation of the “Syria’s Democratic Forces” militias visited Paris on Thursday and met with “Emmanuel Macaron” who expressed his hope that “a dialogue to be launched between the militias and Turkey with the help of France and the international community,” according to the French presidential statement.

The Turkish president, “Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” considered that Macaron hosting the delegation as “an open hostility to Turkey,” rejecting the French offer, where he said: “Who are you to utter the words mediation between Turkey and a terrorist organization?”

Turkey says France sending troops to Syria would be ‘invasion’

ANKARA: Turkey on Saturday warned France against increasing its military presence in Syria, saying it would be an “invasion”, as tensions between Paris and Ankara remained high.

Temperatures were raised after French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday met a delegation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) made up of Kurdish and Arab fighters.

Kurdish officials said afterwards that France was planning to send new troops to Manbij — a northern Syrian town held by the Kurdish YPG militia — which Paris denied.

“If France takes any steps regarding its military presence in northern Syria, this would be an illegitimate step that would go against international law and in fact, it would be an invasion,” Turkish Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli said.

“Especially if they intend to support terror group elements or give direct or indirect protection with armed forces, this would be a really calamitous step,” he added during a visit to the northeastern province of Giresun.

Turkey itself sent troops into Syria and launched an operation against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia in its Afrin enclave on January 20 and drove out the group from the city on March 18.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly warned that Turkey could extend the offensive to Manbij, which is east of Afrin.

But Macron’s office on Friday said Paris was not planning any new military operation on the ground in northern Syria outside the international coalition against the Islamic State extremist group.

Ankara views the YPG as a “terrorist” offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has waged an over three-decade insurgency in Turkey.

The PKK is blacklisted as a terror organisation by Turkey and its Western allies.

But the United States, as well as France, have worked closely with the YPG in the fight against IS in Syria, much to Ankara’s anger.

Erdogan on Friday criticised France’s “wrong stance” and rejected Macron’s offer of establishing a dialogue between Ankara and the SDF.

“We have no need for mediation,” Erdogan said. “You can sit down at the table with terror organisations but Turkey will continue its fight against terror.”

  27. His full response to the question:

“I’ve personally met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago and the president has had two phone conversations with President Ghani [The president of Afghanistan]. One call was after he won the election and one after [Trump] became president. Before the calls, we were advised to keep conversations short because, we were told, Trump will not be interested in the details of the call and does not have a long attention span, so it would be pointless to have a long call.

However, we were pleasantly surprised at how much time President Trump spent asking very informed questions. The first time the presidents spoke, the questions Trump asked impressed us. “How can you win in this fight [against terrorism]?” he asked. “What do you need to become financially independent?” and “How can American business invest in Afghanistan? How can we develop businesses and mining in your country?”

Trump would listen intently after each question, often asking follow-ups. Trump’s second call with our president was even longer than the first. Asking these types of questions for our country is something the Obama administration never did. The Obama administration was the most academic administration we have ever had to deal with but the Trump administration has been the most thoughtful and intelligent.

Trump continually asked “How can you win? What does Afghanistan need to win?” in reference to our fight with terrorism. Trump wants to win. Sincerely. All the Obama administration wanted to do was not lose.

The Obama administration was hesitant with us. The enemy could sense that. When the Obama administration announced its plans to pull troops out of the region, they announced the exact date they would do it. All our enemies had to do was wait [Obama] out. They knew the date they had to hang on until — which gave them the will to fight. They used that time to recruit and build up resources.

To bring real reform, we must be able to defeat enemies outside our country and inside. We must overthrow the Afghan warlords who are profiteering off the war. Every time we tried to remove one of them from power, [Secretary John] Kerry would say “no” because it would potentially make it unstable and require more troops be brought in. The entire Obama administration was too cautious, but Kerry was the most cautious. Perhaps the Obama administration was fatigued by the time we assumed power. [President Ghani assumed power in September of 2014.] But Trump is very different from Obama in this way.

This is good, for the future of Afghanistan.”

  28. The Vice Chair of Civic Engagement and Voter Participation of the Democratic National Committee has called for the repeal of the Second Amendment.

Louisiana Democratic Party Chairwoman Karen Carter Peterson on Tuesday issued a four-word tweet as she shared a link to a New York Times op-ed written by former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens that advocated for the Second Amendment’s repeal.

“Repeal the Second Amendment,” she tweeted.

  29. The failed presidential campaign of Democrat Hillary Clinton might have developed a way to get Facebook data on millions of people who never signed off on sharing their information, according to Fox News.

The campaign developed an app called “Hillary 2016.” The app asked supporters to pair their list of Facebook friends with their phone contacts and then give the Clinton campaign permission to access that information.

As reported by Fox, individuals who were Facebook friends of Clinton supporters had no way to stop the campaign from getting their information. Fox estimated 150,000 people used the app, meaning the number of people whose information was shared without their consent would reach into the millions.

The goal of the app was to reach the friends of Clinton supports by getting pro-Clinton messages to them.

“Once the friends list was paired with the app, people had to swipe through their Facebook friends and dismiss those who, in their view, would never vote for Clinton. Once that was done, the remaining friends were sorted by location and the users could send a pre-written text message to convince them to back Clinton in numerous ways,” Fox reported.

  30. Iraqi Archbishop Bashar Warda made the following observation during a recent speech: “Having faced for 1,400 years the slow-motion genocide that began long before the ongoing ISIS genocide today, the time for excusing this inhuman behavior and its causes is long since passed.”

That Muslims have cleansed non-Muslim peoples by the sword since the seventh century to the present is of course factually well-documented. But what of the more subtle “slow-motion genocide”? How does that work? The answer is connected to another question: Why did so many non-Muslims become Muslim in the first place?

Many modern day Muslims and Western apologists claim that the ancestors of today’s 1.5 billion Muslims converted to Islam due to its intrinsic appeal; that the modern day coercion and persecution committed by the Islamic State and others is an aberration.

  31. The death this week of 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Reinhardt gives President Trump the opportunity to boost the number of Republican-appointed judges on the famously liberal-leaning court, with seven seats now open.

But legal experts say filling all of those vacancies could be a stretch because of partisan wrangling in the Senate.

Of the 22 active judges on the bench — the court is authorized to have 29 judgeships — 16 were nominated by Democratic presidents, and six were nominated by Republicans.

But with Reinhardt’s death, Trump will have the opportunity to fill seven vacancies to the San Francisco-based appeals court.
