    • Catalan ex-head Puigdemont to appear in German court after protests flare

      MADRID/BERLIN (Reuters) – Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont was due to appear in a German court on Monday as Spain sought to extradite him over the region’s independence fight after a night of protests there in which dozens of people were hurt in clashes with police.

      Puigdemont was detained in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein on Sunday, five months after going into self-imposed exile from Spain, where he faces charges of sedition, rebellion and embezzlement which could lead to 25 years in prison.

      Puigdemont had entered Germany from Denmark after on Friday leaving Finland, where he had attended a conference.

      A demonstration in Barcelona against his arrest by tens of thousands of Catalans tipped over into clashes on Sunday night.

  11. Barrage of missiles on Saudi Arabia ramps up Yemen war

    RIYADH/SANAA (Reuters) – The Houthi movement that controls northern Yemen vowed on Monday to fire more missiles into Saudi Arabia unless it stops bombing the country, after missiles crashed into Riyadh overnight causing casualties in the Saudi capital for the first time.

    Saudi forces said they shot down three missiles over Riyadh shortly before midnight. Debris fell on a home in the capital, killing an Egyptian resident and wounding two other Egyptians.

    Air defenses also repelled missiles fired at the southern Saudi cities of Najran, Jizan and Khamis Mushait, Saudi-led coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said.

    A top Houthi leader hailed the attack, which took place on the eve of the third anniversary of the entry into the Yemen war by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies.

    “We praise the successful advance of military capabilities,” Houthi political council chief Saleh al-Samad told a crowd of tens of thousands of supporters in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

    “If they want peace, as we have said to them before, stop your air strikes and we will stop our missiles,” he said. “If you continue your air strikes we have a right to defend ourselves by all means available.”

    This may be nothing more than what’s being advertised. But something is “off” about it. The developments in Gaza and Lebanon are just a little odd over the last 24 hours.

    The wrap-up here won’t be conclusive. The bare bones are that at “dawn” on Sunday, 25 March, Israel reportedly “fired three missiles” into southern Gaza, near Rafah, in response to the entry of four Hamas operatives into Israel to “burn army machinery.” (According to one regional report, the Israeli response was made with artillery.)

    Gaza is said to be hosting an exercise by Hamas’ Izzedine Al-Qassem Brigades in preparation for a “mass protest” on Friday as Passover begins. In an unusual move, the “exercise” was apparently announced beforehand.

    According to the sketchy AP reporting:

    Hamas detonated bombs, launched missiles and fired machine guns in the streets during the 24-hour exercise.

  13. Dem running for sheriff of N.C. county has modest proposal for dealing with gun owners

    After having witnessed the monstrous ineptitude of Broward County, Fla., Sheriff Scott Israel and his loyal deputies in dealing with the events of Feb. 14 of this year at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, one might hope that we have seen the worst when it comes to law enforcement.

    But a new contender for the job of sheriff in Buncombe County, N.C., promises to make Israel and his underlings look like Boy Scouts. His name is R. Darryl Fisher, he is a Democrat, and he is running on the “Justice for All” platform. It’s a curious name considering Fisher’s notion of justice.

    On his Facebook page, Fisher writes, “I am running for Sheriff to ensure the fair and equal treatment for all people of Buncombe County by protecting and serving our communities.” By “equal,” he means literally taking guns out of the hands of citizens who lawfully own them.

    And if they refuse to comply? “You’ve heard people say you have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands?” he asked rhetorically in a campaign appearance, then shrugged matter-of-factly and said, “OK.”

    “Malaysia’s government proposed new legislation Monday to outlaw fake news and punish offenders with a 10-year jail sentence, a move slammed by critics as a bid to crack down on dissent ahead of a general election.

    Prime Minister Najib Razak has been dogged by a multibillion-dollar corruption scandal involving an indebted state fund, and rights activists fear the new law could be used to criminalize news reports and critical opinions on government misconduct. A general election must be held by August but is widely expected in the next few weeks.

    The anti-fake news bill, which must be approved by parliament, calls for penalizing those who create, offer, circulate, print or publish fake news or publications containing fake news with a 10-year jail term, a fine of up to 500,000 ringgit ($128,000) or both.

    The bill defines fake news as “any news, information, data and reports which is, or are, wholly or partly false whether in the form of features, visuals or audio recordings or in any other form capable of suggesting words or ideas.” It covers all mediums and extends to even foreigners outside Malaysia as long as Malaysia or its citizens are affected.

    “This is an attack on the press and an attempt to instill fear among the (people)” before the general election, opposition lawmaker Ong Kian Ming tweeted.

    Government officials have said the law is needed to protect public harmony and national security. They have accused the opposition coalition of using fake news as a key weapon to win votes and warned that any news on the indebted 1MDB state fund that had not been verified by the government is fake…”

    “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that membership in the European Union remains a “strategic goal” for his country despite the uneasy relationship with the 28-member bloc.

    Erdogan was speaking in Istanbul before departing for the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Varna to attend a likely arduous summit meeting with EU leaders.

    Erdogan said he would urge the EU to remove “political and artificial” hurdles against Turkey’s membership and revive stalled accession negotiations during talks with European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council president Donald Tusk.

    “As Turkey, we have been continuing on our way with the goal of full membership (of the EU) despite all the mines that were planted on out path and barriers in front of us,” he told reporters. “Today, membership in the European Union remains a strategic goal for us.”

    The summit comes amid an array of issues that have strained ties, including a dispute between Turkey and EU-member Cyprus over energy exploration in the Mediterranean.

    Turkish warships have prevented a drillship from carrying out exploratory drilling on behalf of Italian company Eni southeast of Cyprus, in a move that the EU criticized.

    Turkey objects to “unilateral” gas searches by ethnically divided Cyprus’ Greek Cypriot-run government without the direct involvement of breakaway Turkish Cypriots. The Cyprus government says a gas search is its sovereign right and will benefit all citizens.

    The EU largely depends on Turkey to curtail the flow of migrants into Europe but has deep concerns over the state of democracy, human rights and freedoms in Turkey that have taken a turn for the worse after a 2016 failed military coup.

    Turkey for its part, accuses EU nations of not backing Ankara’s fight against “terror” groups, including outlawed Kurdish militants and a network led by a U.S.-based Muslim cleric whom it accuses of masterminding the coup attempt.

    “Unfortunately on this issue (fight against terrorism), we are hearing many statements from the European Union that are in contradiction with their own principles and that never fit into our partnership’s principles,” Erdogan said.”

    “TURKEY’S President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have announced they want to create an “army of Islam” to wage war against Israel, it has been revealed.

    Less than a month ago the Turkish state’s mouthpiece the daily Yeni ?afak ran an article for Erdogan titled “A call for urgent action” and on the newspaper’s website headlined “What if an army of Islam formed against Israel?”

    It called for the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to form a joint army to simultaneously attack Israel from all sides.

    The article said: “If the member states of the OIC unite militarily, they will form the world’s largest and most comprehensive army.

    “The number of active soldiers would be at least 5,206,100, while the defence budget would reach approximately $175billion (£124billion).”

    This was accompanied by an interactive map providing formation of military forces for a joint Muslim attack on Israel.

    The article provided additional details of the plan, saying: “It is expected that 250,000 soldiers will participate in the first of a possible operation.

    “Land, air and naval bases of member states located in the most critical regions will be used.

    “Joint bases will be constructed in a short period of time… It is possible for 500 tanks and armoured vehicles, 100 planes and 500 attack helicopters and 50 ships to mobilise quickly.”

    Erdogan did not deny his support for the report and has on several occasions said he would like to resurrect the Ottoman Empire.

    The tyrant has established military bases in Qatar and Somalia and recently reached an agreement with Sudan to acquire a Sudanese island in the Red Sea to be used as a military base.

    He has also repeatedly threatened to invade Greek islands in the Mediterranean and has recently invaded Syria under the pretext of fighting Kurdish terrorism.

    Erdogan has also locked up journalists and activists who have spoken out against his regime.

    But the European Union is urging members to approve a further €3.7billion (£3.28billion) to help Turkey deal with Syrian refugees who arrived in their country.

    Brussels will now push to get Turkey the extra €2.7 billion (£2.4billion) from national governments, some of whom may be unwilling to pump new cash into the country…”

    “You will have plenty of time to study the Quran in prison in the years to come,” Justice Haddon-Cave said in his closing remarks at Hassan’s trial.

    He added: “The Quran and Islam forbid anything extreme, including extremism in religion. Islam forbids breaking the ‘law of the land’ where one is living or is a guest. Islam forbids terrorism.

    “The Quran and the Sunna provide that the crime of perpetrating terror to ’cause corruption in the land’ is one of the most severe crimes in Islam … so it is in the law of the United Kingdom.”

    Hassan arrived in the UK as a 16-year-old refugee from Iraq just three years earlier.

    At the time, he claimed to have been an orphan who had been kidnapped by ISIL.

    A high-level, two-day international conference on Afghanistan starts in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent on Monday.

    The aim is to discuss ways to bring peace to the war-torn country where according to some estimates more than a hundred thousand people have been killed since the US-led invasion in October 2001.

    The woman and a friend had gotten into an argument with two boys, aged 13 and 14, in a supermarket in the small town of Burgwedel near Hanover on Saturday evening.

    The pair met the teens again on their way home, at which point they had been joined by a 17-year-old and the argument between the woman’s 25-year-old friend and the Syrians escalated.

    “Far-right campaigner Lauren Southern says she has been permanently banned from the UK for distributing “racist material.” Southern was originally investigated under the Terrorism Act and blocked from entering the UK on March 12.

    The 22-year-old Canadian was filmed handing out racist flyers emblazoned with messages like “Allah is a gay God” and “Allah is trans” in Luton earlier this year. The political campaigner said the stunt was a “social experiment.” Police shut it down after getting multiple complaints from locals.

    In a video posted by Southern, police can be seen telling her that the “Allah is a gay God” project could lead to violence. They can also be heard telling her that, if she did not dismantle the stall and clear off, she could be arrested for a public order offence.

    She was not arrested at the time of the Luton stunt. However, she was blocked from entering the UK on March 13. She was held under schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act and was banned from entering the country. A notice of refusal to enter stated that Southern’s actions in Luton presented “a threat to the fundamental interests of society and public policy of the United Kingdom.”

    Southern was set to meet with other far-right figures, American Brittany Pettibone and Austrian co-founder of Generation Identity Martin Sellner, who were also refused entry into the UK. Sellner was set to give a speech at Speaker’s Corner, which was instead read out by controversial far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

    Now the trio have vowed to sue the UK over the refusal. In a video posted to YouTube on March 17, Sellner announced to the world that the group “don’t want to let the UK get away with this, and we’re going to sue the UK.”

    Speaking on YouTube to air her grievances, Southern said she has now been banned completely from the UK for the Luton stunt. “Why does (sic) the rights of Muslims to be homophobic trump the rights of gay people to have their self-expression?” she asked. She then had a dig at the United Kingdom, stating that the country “needs to have a conversation about this before they’re no longer able to have a conversation at all.””

    A teenage Muslim girl from Texas was found three months after running away from her parents who arranged a marriage for her and allegedly beat her with a broomstick and poured hot oil on her, Fox News reported.

    Maarib Al Hishmawi, 16, was last seen leaving her high school in Bexar County in January. She was found in mid-March and taken in by an organization that is caring for her.

    Hishmawi’s parents — Abdulah Fahmi Al Hishmawi, 34, and Hamdiyah Saha Al Hishmawi, 33 — reportedly arranged a marriage for their daughter in exchange for $20,000.

  38. Spice Girl: My Ex Showed Kids ISIS Beheading Videos

    Former “Spice Girl” Mel B charged that her ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, traumatized her child by showing the young girl horrific ISIS beheading videos, The Blast reported.

    Based on court documents obtained by the website, Mel (Melanie Brown) petitioned the court to prevent Belafonte from seeing Angel Murphy Brown, 10, Mel B’s child with comedian Eddie Murphy.

    The former singer charged that Belafonte, whom she divorced at the end of 2017, showed all of Mel’s children the videos, including 6-year-old Madison, the child they had together. Phoenix, Mel B’s 19-year-old daughter, confirmed the accusations, saying in writing, “He got us all to watch men being beheaded with chainsaws by ISIS.”

    Phoenix also alleged a host of other abuses by Belafonte including calling her “retarded,” kicking and yelling at the dog and eating half of her school lunch made by Mel so that she would have little to eat during the day.

    Belafonte filed to have visitation rights with Angel, although in the court document, Mel charges that in detailing the girl’s likes and dislikes, he got everything wrong about his stepdaughter.

    The judge for the case is set to rule on the petition shortly.

Hezbollah is suppose to have several thousand fighters in the US and has a training camp within 50 miles of the Texas Border. Both the border Patrol and the Texas Rangers report finding Islamic prayer rugs in the desert everyday.

      We are already seeing Turk v Kurd violence in Germany, Shiite v Sunni can’t be far behind.

        • Like I said it is pretty much a given, what we have to remember is that:

          1) The more they kill each other the less they can kill us.

          2) Our Islamic allies are enemies of our enemies not our friends. This one can be stated enough times.

          3) The US and the West have been here before and won so we can do it again.

          4) The important thing is to save our freedom not our civilization. We will probably have to do some very uncivilized things to remain free.

    Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is living in an illusion if he thinks that his rivals in Hamas would ever agree to lay down their weapons or cede control over the Gaza Strip.

    Hamas has no intention of dismantling its military and security apparatus. It also does not have any intention of allowing Abbas’s security forces to be stationed in the Gaza Strip. This refusal is why the “reconciliation” deal that Abbas signed with Hamas in Cairo in October 2017 will never be translated into facts on the ground.

    Hamas is prepared to give Abbas anything he wants in the Gaza Strip except for security control. Hamas has no problem allowing Abbas and his government to function as a “civil administration” in the Gaza Strip by providing funds and various services to government institutions there.

    If Abbas wants to pay salaries to civil servants in the Gaza Strip, that is fine with Hamas. If he wants to pay for fuel, water and electricity supplies to the Gaza Strip, that is also fine with Hamas.
