  1. Saudi Arabia revamping curricula to combat ‘extremist ideologies’(saudigazette, Mar 21, 2018)
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/530983/SAUDI-ARABIA/Saudi-Arabia-revamping-curricula-to-combat-extremist-ideologies

“Saudi Arabia is revamping its education curricula to eradicate any trace of Muslim Brotherhood influence and will dismiss anyone working in the sector who sympathizes with the banned group, Education Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa said.

Promoting a more moderate form of Islam is one of the promises made by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.

The Education Ministry is working to “combat extremist ideologies by reviewing school curricula and books to ensure they do not reflect the banned Muslim Brotherhood’s agenda,” Al-Issa said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

It would “ban such books from schools and universities and remove those who sympathize with the group or its ideology from their posts,” he added.

Earlier this month, Crown Prince Muhammad told CBS in an interview that Saudi schools have been “invaded” by elements of the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been designated by Saudi Arabia as a terrorist organization along with other militant groups such as Al-Qaeda and Daesh.

According to Al-Issa, Brotherhood symbols who fled Egypt in the 1960’s and 1970’s went to Saudi Arabia where they got involved in teaching at public schools and universities thus influencing some officials, supervisors and teachers leading to the reformulating of religious curricula.

They also organized students’ activities according to the Brotherhood’s “deviant” approach.

Al-Issa added that it wasn’t until later that they realized the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood and this is when they launched their efforts to rid the educational system of the flaws resulting from its approach.

Efforts to fight extremist ideology include reformulating educational curricula, developing school textbooks to make sure they do not include any of the Brotherhood’s ideas, ban books that are affiliated with the Brotherhood in schools and universities, expel anyone who sympathizes with the Brotherhood, its ideas and symbols from supervising or teaching positions and holding activities to raise awareness about the Brotherhood’s threats.

The minister noted that eradicating the Brotherhood’s ideology requires continuous efforts and the ministry’s vigilance, adding that the ministry’s officials, university principals and education officials are aware that they must not be lenient when combating this ideology. — Agencies”

  2. Egypt refers 30 Daesh-affiliated ‘terrorists’ to court on charges of planning church bombings (ahram, Mar 21, 2018)
    http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/293206/Egypt/Politics-/Egypt-refers–Daeshaffiliated-terrorists-to-court-.aspx

“Egypt’s prosecutor-general has referred 30 Daesh-linked “terrorists” to the to the Supreme State Security Emergency Criminal Court on charges of planning to attack Egyptian Christians and churches.

In an official statement, Nabil Sadek’s office said the accused were charged with establishing a terrorist group that embraces Daesh’s extremist dogma, while being supplied with money, weapons, and explosives to carry out their plans.

The accused are also charged with receiving military training at Daesh camps in Syria and Libya.

They were allegedly planning to target churches and Christians in a number of Egyptian governorates.

According to investigations conducted by the Supreme State Security Prosecution, a leader of Daesh, codenamed “Nour”, received a mandate from the leadership of the terrorist organisation to establish a terrorist group in Egypt which targeted the country’s ruler, armed and police forces, and Christians.

The leader established a group wtih two cells, trained them, and selected some members to prepare them to execute suicide bombings.

In the second stage of the group’s history, they were detected communicating with each other using secure messaging services like Telegram, Line, etc.

The group members attended military trainings inside the country and abroad to raise their fighting capacity, as well as training them to manufacture and deploy improvised explosive devices and suicide vests in preparation for attacks in Egypt.

According to the statement, some of the defendants were trained in Daesh camps in Syria and Libya.

The 30 defendants were planning to target the Church of Saint Maximus & Domadius in Asafra in Alexandria, and the Church of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bishay in Damietta, as well as three other Christian houses of worship in Giza and Beheira governorates.

The investigations added that the group’s members were ordered to carry out a suicide bombing in a Copt-owned undertaker’s, where there would be Christan mourners gathered.

Ammunition, explosive material, and weaponry were also found in the possession of the accused.

It is unclear if the members of the group are affiliated with Daesh-Egypt, who have carried out several attacks in Egypt recently.

Daesh-Egypt most recently claimed an attack by a gunman on a Coptic church in Helwan, south of Cairo, which killed nine people in December 2017.

It was designated by the US as a terrorist group in February.”

  3. Algeria Hardens Immigration Policy, Deports Hundreds of sub-Saharan Migrants (moroccoworldnews, Mar 21, 2018)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2018/03/242873/algeria-hardens-immigration-policy-deports-hundreds-of-sub-saharan-migrants/

“So far, so familiar: There is a genuine sense of daily jeopardy and humiliations in being a sub-Saharan migrant in Algeria, say reporters and international observers.

Algeria is accelerating its massive expulsions of sub-Saharan migrants in the desserts in its southern borders, reports the French outlet Le Monde Afrique. In the course of a few weeks, Algerian authorities have allegedly ‘removed’ hundred of sub-Saharan migrants from the North African country’s territory.

Indiscriminately arrested in several cities around the country, migrants are said to be sent to squalid refugee camps before subsequently being sent to deserts in the country’s borders with Niger and Mali. In the first two weeks of February alone, Algeria reportedly deported over 500 sub-Saharans.

While Algerian and Niger signed an agreement that said that Algeria should not hesitate to deport Nigerien illegal migrants, recent deportations to Niger are said to have been done in the most indiscriminate of manners, with Guineans, Malians and other nationalities being deported to Niger. These massive expulsions of other nationalities towards Niger did not however sit well with Nigerien authorities, who have asked their Algerian counterparts to stop the practice. “We have held long discussions with Algerian authorities, and we told them to no longer send us migrants from Guinea, Mali, and other countries,” Nigerien minister of interior has been quoted by Le Monde as saying.

In the meantime, Algeria has shifted its deportations towards Mali, where sub-Saharan migrants, again regardless of their countries of origins, are currently being forcibly taken to. Between March 6 and 7 a group of 125 sub-Saharan migrants were forcibly deported to the Malian town of Gao, saysLe Monde.

And according to a press release by Human Rights Watch (HWR) cited by Le Monde, these migrants were transported to the desert on Algeria-Malia borders where they spent six hours working in the desert before finally reaching Gao. HRW also said in its press release that the migrants were attacked in the desert by militia groups. “Algeria throws us in the desert at the mercy of terrorist groups,” said one of the deported migrants.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), for its part, has revealed that on March 15, the organization helped 369 migrants escape the horror of militias in the borders between Niger and Algeria. The migrants were essentially from Niger, Guinea and Mali, IOM said, adding that “they were angry, afraid, and traumatized.”

On March 13, sub-Saharan migrants (but mostly Malians) stoned Algeria’s embassy in Bamako, Mali’s capital city. Bassourou Coulibaly, a 27-year old Malian who was in the last group of forcibly deported sub-Saharans, told the press that although he did not participate in the stoning of the Algerian embassy in bamako, he understands the reasons that drove his fellow migrants to resort to such a desperate move.

“In our group, only three of us did not take part in the embassy incident,” Coulibaly said. He however explained that he too is angry with Algerian authorities. “I had a contract and was working as an electrician. But I was patrolled one day while going to work. I was denied the right to even take some of my belongings with me,” he said. “What else can you expect when you deny people their most basic rights?” Coulibaly asked, concluding that Malian and Algerian authorities should find ways of accommodating migrants because “when a group of angry and stigmatized youth decides to act and reclaim its dignity, it is very difficult to stop them.””

  5. Paris Taxi Driver Threatened To Kill Passenger Because He Was an Israeli Jew (breitbart, Mar 21, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/21/paris-taxi-driver-threatened-kill-passenger-because-israeli-jew/

“An Israeli tourist visiting his brother in Paris has claimed that a taxi driver in the French capital threatened to slit his throat after realising that he was a Jew from Israel during a taxi ride.

Israeli Ronen Edri told his story on a television programme put out by broadcaster Keshet earlier this week saying that it had been one of the most terrifying moments of his life, Israeli newspaper Maariv reports.

“I grabbed a taxi going to visit my brother in Paris, asking the driver to take me down to the address,” Edri said and after he asked the driver to turn down the radio in the vehicle the driver said, “Who are you? What do you think you are? You do not live here, you have no rights here, you are not even the owner of this vehicle.”

He said the driver cursed at him in French and said, “I’ll show you what Muslims do to people like you.”

Edri told the taxi driver to stop or he would not pay him the cab fare. Soon afterwards, the taxi driver rang up a friend on his mobile phone.

“He picked up the phone and I heard a phone call in French, I understood that the conversation was about me has decided to record it. I recorded the conversation and sent it to my brother,” Edri said and added that his brother told him the driver said, “this son of a bitch, I’m willing to cut his throat in my car.”

After the taxi arrived at the destination, Edri attempted to get out but the taxi driver sped up as he was only half out of the vehicle and then pulled out a knife. Edri claimed he then jumped out of the car and later discovered he had broken his ankle as a result of the fall.

The incident is only the latest in a growing tide of anti-semitic attacks in Paris. In the heavily migrant populated suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis, a hotbed of Islamic radicalism, many Jews have been forced to move elsewhere due to harassment.

The attacks have not been limited to Jewish men either, with a Jewish schoolgirl being viciously attacked and requiring hospitalization in Paris’ heavily migrant populated 18th arrondissement in October.”

  6. Year After Breitbart Report, Swedish MSM Catch up on Migrant Background of Majority of Gang Rapists (breitbart, Mar 21, 2018)
    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/03/21/swedish-msm-report-majority-gang-rapists-migrant-background-full-year-breitbart-london-broke-story/

“A review of 32 gang rape cases by a Swedish tabloid has revealed almost every man convicted of gang rape in Sweden during 2016 and 2017 has a migrant background, a full year after Breitbart London originally reported the statistic.

Researchers at Swedish tabloid Expressen found that 32 of the 43 men sentenced for gang rape are immigrants, with eight born in Sweden to parents who were both born abroad.

A further two of the offenders were born in Sweden to one immigrant and one Sweden-born parent with just one born in Sweden to parents who were both born in Sweden.

Finding that perpetrators were on average 21 years old when they committed the gang rape, with 13 of the offenders aged under 18, the investigation also revealed that 14 of the 43 men — or roughly a third — had been convicted of previous crimes in Sweden.

With regards to penalties, Expressen found that 29 of the men were jailed, receiving three-year terms on average, but in some cases, additional crimes were factored into their sentencing. A further two were sentenced to carry out community service.

Ten were sentenced to “youth care”, a so-called sanction in the Swedish legal system which involves referring young offenders to social services, which develop a “care plan” intended to turn youths away from crime.

A further two were required to carry out “youth service”, a sentence of unpaid work that can be given as an alternative to prison for criminals between the ages of 15 and 21.

The tabloid reported 15 offenders, all of whom were born abroad and lacked the right to reside in Sweden, were sentenced to deportation.

The Expressen report comes a full year after Breitbart London reported on gang rape crime data, collected by a Swedish citizen who wished to remain anonymous, through freedom of information requests.

The site, Gang Rape Sweden, was taken down by Swedish authorities in December after publishing a massive data leak of criminal information that was believed to be in violation of the county’s Personal Data Act.

Other sites, like the legal search engine Lexbase, also came under fire from the government for allowing access to criminal data that could allow individuals to map out migrant crime statistics or ethnic background data of criminals. The Swedish government promised to censor the site so that it would only be accessible to lawyers, journalists, and other professionals in the future.

Stina Holmberg, a researcher at the National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå), said in relation to the new Expressen report that the figures were unsurprising, stating: “In our study in 2005, it was five times more common to be suspected of rape as a foreigner compared to the one born in Sweden with two Swedish parents.”

“It is obviously more common among young immigrant boys, but it is only a vanishingly small proportion of immigrants who commit this type of crime”, she told Expressen, adding that the gang rape figures are tiny in relation to the 163,000 people who applied for asylum in 2015.

While the last time Brå carried out a report on immigration and crime was 2005, Holmberg said she rejects calls for a new study, asserting that: “The important thing is to get started early on integration work so as to get young guys who ar”
