“School administrators in British Columbia are trying to fight racism by posting a series of white-shaming posters on school walls, in an effort to educate students on the evils of “white privilege.”
The posters, based on a similar billboard campaign mounted last summer in Saskatoon, bear messages encouraging students to “confront racism” and to not “be blind to the invisible system I am a part of.”
Caucasian people, the campaign suggests, even if not racists themselves, still benefit from “white privilege,” and thus apparently need to atone for the inherent injustice of race.
“I have unfairly benefited from the colour of my skin,” declares Superintendent of Schools Teresa Downs in one poster. “White privilege is not acceptable.”
Rather than play down the importance of race in favor of common humanity, Ms. Downs and her comrades-in-arms believe it is critical for students and citizens to become not less but more race-conscious. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of “a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” is apparently not shared by the good folks of School District 74.
Not by the academic authorities, anyway.
School officials reportedly made the mistake of initiating the poster campaign without informing students’ parents, which has provoked backlash among families who don’t believe it is a sin to be born white.
One parent of mixed-race children, Kansas Field Allen, took issue with the poster crusade and posted photos of the posters on social media, which generated a flurry of comments, mostly critical of the “white privilege” campaign.
Some complained of the “blatant indoctrination” of students, while others expressed their consternation over an unwillingness to focus on common humanity rather than racial divides. “Shouldn’t we work on being inclusive rather than exclusive?” a typical comment read.
“I’d say 95 per cent of the people are in favour of having the posters taken down, and that’s from all races,” Field Allen said.
In January, the posters were hung in every school in the district in January, reportedly with the agreement of school principals.

“After being accused of “ignoring” the Telford grooming gang scandal, the BBC has now run a headline on the recent revelations, claiming “victim numbers sensationalised”.
In their report, the BBC also sought to question the claims of local Tory MP Lucy Allan that victims were mainly white, working-class girls and the officer they quoted suggested white people were equally guilty of child sex crimes.
Rather than focus on the dozens of victims who have come forward, the UK’s national broadcaster instead led with the words of West Mercia Police Superintendent Tom Harding, who said the force “significantly disputed” the number of girls attacked.
“I don’t believe Telford is any worse than lots of places across England and Wales,” the officer said after authorities were accused of failing to act, including ignoring girls found in cars with older men, giving birth at 14, and using the morning after pill many times a week.
“Without an independent inquiry, how will we know?” responded Rotherham Labour MP Sarah Champion to the officer’s claims, following calls for a report into the scandal like the one focusing on Rotherham.
The initial Police probe, Operation Chalice, identified at least 100 potential victims in Telford targeted between 2007 and 2009. Yet, just nine were jailed and the case was closed. One was convicted of murder but never charged with grooming his victim.
Then, last weekend, the Sunday Mirror published the findings of an 18-month probe, during which they obtained freedom of information requests, spoke to victims, charity workers, a local MP, and police, concluding that 1,000 girls could have been targeted over 40 years.
The victims identified 70 alleged attackers, and the paper linked five deaths to the abuse and found that girls as young as 11 years old had been targeted in the small town by men of Asian and Muslim backgrounds.
“Read the headlines, read the reports. What are they actually discussing? They’re discussing cases from 20 or 30 years ago, offending back in the 1990s,” Supt Harding also told the BBC.
“We’ve never said there aren’t cases, there are always cases we are working on and seeking to prosecute.”
Ms. Allan hit back, saying that “no-one is suggesting there are 1,000 victims on the streets of Telford today.” Rather, as in Rotherham, the alleged crimes are historic and much of the anger is about a potential cover-up.
The police have already been accused of covering up the Telford scandal – as they were in Rotherham – after a police chaplain was suspended for whistle blowing and a police-funded charity forced a worker out of her job after she tried to speak up.
“What I would say is sexual offending across Telford and Wrekin is virtually identically proportionate to the break-down of society, so it is not one particular section over others and we will tackle it wherever it is,” added Supt Harding.
However, as research by think tank the Quilliam Foundation has pointed out, Asians are heavily over-represented specifically in street grooming crimes, whilst white people still make up the majority of child sex abusers overall, as the UK is mainly white.
Lucy Allan MP said this week that “white working class” girls had been targeted by Asian men because of their background, as well as accusing the BBC of letting the girls down by not reporting the scandal.
However, the BBC also quotes Ansar Ali, a spokesman for Together Against Grooming (TAG), who claimed to have seen evidence that many of the victims were not white.
He said: “A study on this issue was done by the Office of the Children’s Commissioner which dated back to 2013 and, according to that research, a third of victims were felt to be from a non-white background or black minority ethnic background.”
TAG are a self-described Muslim group which writes that its aim as an organisation is “to make it clear that we fundamentally disagree with some racist extremist groups and others who are exploiting this situation to denigrate Muslims and Islam by suggesting that there might be a religious and/or cultural explanation for the action of these men”.”
At this point, what difference does it make?

The Swiss People’s Party (SVP) figure addressed the issue in the National Council Monday when asked a question on whether the army allows soldiers to wear the veil.
“A young woman published a picture of her in a Swiss army uniform wearing a beret over an Islamic veil, boasting of being the first veiled woman to do military service,” Jean-Luc Addor told the Council.
“Is this tolerated?” the SVP representative for the canton of Valais asked, going on to question whether Switzerland’s army has “the will or the means to clamp down on veil-wearing and so prevent this kind of display”.

Commenting on the controversy in an interview Tuesday, the minister insisted the army requires “distinct symbols” to be concealed when wearing a uniform, “whether it be a cross, a yarmulke, or anything else”.
“Like many other armies around the world, we apply uniform regulations based on the idea that soldiers should all look like they are wearing the same thing, externally,” he told RTS, adding that “hypothetically, a hijab should not be visible as long as [its wearer] is in uniform”.
Last week, a right-wing blog published pictures that the website purports are screenshots from social media which show a Muslim soldier “rejoicing” over being allowed to serve in the Swiss army in Islamic headgear.
One of the alleged screenshots depicts a woman in army fatigues and a beret, overlaid with text which reads: “I am the first veiled woman to do military service in Switzerland (and for them this is a pride).””

In an interview with Sputnik, Turkish representatives shared their views on the issue.
Turks can no longer feel safe in Germany, Fatih Zingal, the deputy chairman of the Union of European Turkish Democrats, argued.
“Turkish communities and associations are very concerned, because, given the statements of organizations affiliated with the PKK, we must proceed from the fact that last week’s events were just the tip of the iceberg,” the official said.
Zingal also added that the youth branch of the PKK issued “an online call to carry out terrorist attacks against any Turkish sites — be it mosques, cultural centers, cafes, supermarkets or the Consulate General.”
“This is why we must say: every person who is in any way connected with Turkey has reasons for concern,” Zingal noted.
Earlier, Deutsche Welle reported that a Germany-based left-wing Kurdish youth group had threatened to turn European streets into “rubble and ash” amid the Turkish military’s Operation Olive Branch in Syria’s Afrin.
The warning came after pro-Kurdish protesters clashed with police across Germany late last week, which prompted Ankara to urge Berlin to take measures to protect Turkish citizens living in Germany.
The Turkish diaspora as well as the German media see a clear link between the attacks and the operation of Turkish troops in Afrin in northern Syria.
“It’s not a secret that the left forces, in general, are not fond of the Turkish government and the president. The operation in Afrin, directed against the Syrian branch of the PKK, could be the reason for these violent actions,” an expert on Turkey and an editor of the German-Turkish Internet newspaper Daily Sabah, Burak Altun, told Sputnik. “The situation has been heated for a long time. But Turkey’s operation in Syria has become the last straw.”
At the same time, it is rather difficult to prove a direct connection between the recent crimes and the PKK. The group hasn’t claimed responsibility for these attacks, but has not condemned them either.

Although, the Berlin police do not exclude that the recent assaults have been inspired by political motives, there is no conclusive evidence of this version so far.
“Police departments in the federal states are working closely with each other and are exchanging information. At the moment, there is no specific evidence that could be considered as proof. But, of course, we have carefully analyzed the fact that there were several consecutive, similar crimes committed one after another in different federal states. Thus, we can’t exclude that these actions were plotted in advance,” German police’s official representative Winfried Wenzel told Sputnik.

Among young Copenhageners aged 18-29, a waning belief in democracy is manifest. Furthermore, a quarter non-Western immigrants in the Danish capital believe religious laws should be followed even if they are contrary to Danish law, Danish Radio reported, fueling fears of growing radicalization.
According to the recent Integration Barometer, 82 percent of young people with non-Western backgrounds perceive what they represent as “democratic,” as opposed to 94 percent of their ethnic Danish peers. Both groups, however, saw a decline compared with 2016, when they clocked 86 percent and 96 percent respectively.
Furthermore, 27 percent of Copenhagen’s non-Western population responded that religious laws and traditions must be followed at all costs, even though they may violate Danish law. Again, this was an increase from 2016, when the corresponding figure was 24 percent.
Perhaps surprisingly, the same trend was manifest among youths of Danish background, as the proportion of Danes holding the same conviction rose from 10 to 15 percent.
Jonas Bjørn Jensen, Social Democrats political spokesman at Copenhagen City Hall, found this development worrying.
“It is a huge problem that young people in Copenhagen have a declining faith in democracy, and we must do something about it,” Bjørn Jensen said.
His colleagues from the anti-immigrant Danish People’s Party (DF), on the other hand, were more concerned about the youngsters’ readiness to override Danish law in favor of religious law. According to DF political spokesman in Copenhagen Carl Christian Ebbesen, this should be interpreted as a sign of young people embracing radical ideas.
“We can see that there are more parallel societies where an increasing proportion of people of non-Western backgrounds believe in sharia and not democracy. And it’s a dangerous development the way me and my party see it,” Ebbesen told Danish Radio.
Employment and Integration Minister Cecillia Lonning-Skovgaard of the Liberal Party was also worried about the Danish youth’s view of Danish legislation.
“It’s one of the things that makes me really worried because it’s clear that if more young Copenhageners feel that, for example, sharia law stands above Danish law, we have a huge challenge,” Lonning-Skovgaard said.
According to Jonas Bjørn Jensen measures must be taken as early as in elementary school, in order to change the situation. Jensen said DKK 120 million ($20 million) has been allocated for education in Copenhagen for the next four years, stressing that the goal is to equip young people with democratic tools to make them feel like part of society.”

Australia Considers Emergency Visas for White South African Farmers
HONG KONG — South Africa’s foreign ministry has fired back against an Australian proposal to grant emergency visas to white South African farmers, after a leading Australian politician said the group needed protection in a “civilized country.”
White farmers “deserve special protection,” Peter Dutton, Australia’s home affairs minister, who oversees immigration, said in an interview on Wednesday, amid a debate in South Africa over redistributing white-owned land to black citizens.
“I think these people deserve special attention and we’re certainly applying that special attention now,” said Mr. Dutton, who proposed offering white farmers expedited visas to resettle in Australia on humanitarian grounds.
“We want people who want to come here, abide by our laws, integrate into our society, work hard, not lead a life on welfare,” Mr. Dutton said after watching a documentary about the rise in the number of South African farm murders.
South Africa’s government characterized Mr. Dutton’s remarks as regrettable and said white farmers were not at risk.

The Push to Make Human-Chimp Hybrids
In a long article adapted from a chapter in his forthcoming book, psychologist David Barash proposes that society should sanction the making of human-chimp hybrids. He refers to this new creature as a “humanzee” and says that “making it would be a terrific idea.”
Barash recognizes some of the scientific challenges to making a humanzee but claims that it is “by no means impossible or even unlikely that a hybrid or a chimera combining a human being and a chimpanzee could be produced in a laboratory. After all, human and chimp (or bonobo) share, by most estimates, roughly 99 percent of their nuclear DNA.”
His main argument for pursuing the creation of a human-chimp hybrid is based on the belief that humans have an unwarranted belief that we are special creatures. As Barash puts it, “Moreover, I propose that the fundamental take-home message of such creation would be to drive a stake into the heart of that destructive disinformation campaign of discontinuity, of human hegemony over all other living things.”

Game-changer? North Korea involved in growing arms complex in Syria and Lebanon

The Washington Free Beacon this week cites a report from regional media that North Korea has been assisting the Assad regime in preparing a tunnel complex in northwestern Syria, which U.S officials believe could be used for “advanced weaponry and nuclear-related work.”
The underground complex is located near Al-Qardaha – Assad’s birthplace and the ancestral home of his Alawite clan – in the coastal mountains of Latakia province. (Maps and images below.) North Korea has reportedly been involved in developing the site since 2011, when construction was first observed there, apparently of the structure that houses the tunnel complex entrance. The images at this report from Zaman Al-Wasl show the site in 2011 and 2018.
The site of the facility is easily located just south of Al-Qardaha, and is shown in relation to the town in the first satellite image below.
But there’s an additional dimension of North Korean involvement that puts the recent report about Al-Qardaha in a very interesting light. That’s the persistent reporting about North Korean military advisers and special forces participating in combat in Syria.
North Korean soldiers are said to have operated with Syrian regime forces in Aleppo; to have flown helicopters for the Syrian air force (at least in earlier years); to have provided combat direction support for Syrian artillery; and to be working with Iran in “running an operations room for the Syrian military.”
For the subject of this post, however, the most significant report is that North Koreans participated in the battle of Qusayr, in northwestern Syria on the border with Lebanon, in 2013. Qusayr is a nexus point in the growing network of Iranian-backed weapons facilities in western Syria and Lebanon, something that stands out in even stronger relief when the element of North Korean involvement is added.
In other words, Iran and North Korea are both participating in the creation of a weapons facility complex in western Syria and Lebanon.
If the reports of North Korean involvement in combat operations in Syria are valid, the Kim regime has been a player in this operation from early on – largely on Iran’s behalf, but gaining advantages for itself as well. The North Korean connection to both Qusayr and Al-Qardaha makes an informative frame for the assessment of U.S. officials, reported by Adam Kredo at WFB: that the tunnels at Al-Qardaha could be used for “advanced weaponry and nuclear-related work.”
What an interesting time, therefore, for Kim Jong-Un to want to talk to President Trump. A number of analysts have been making the case for years that the links between Iran and North Korea have to be considered integral to any strategic approach by the U.S. to Iran’s nuclear program. The converse is also the case.
It could be seen as daunting that Kim has arranged to have a stake in a special weapons complex in Latakia province, currently snuggled under the coastal mountain range and a Russian air defense umbrella.
But there’s another way to look at it. The broader payoff from putting that stake in play with U.S-Kim negotiations – including what it would take to put the stake in jeopardy for Kim – has just jumped to a new level. Levers come from a lot of places; fulcrums that serve multiple purposes are gold nuggets, and rarely as handy. It looks like Trump has just found one.

The titles refer to terraforming Mars from its current state over to a water-rich world and then, finally, to one with vegetation. There is a fourth book (“The Martians”?) of short stories that is worthwhile as well.
For instance, to really occupy an entire planet requires building a space elevator on both Earth and Mars. Incidentally, in this solar system, it’s Mars or nothing. No other planet is remotely habitable. Some of Jupiter’s moons might work but they would be more like refueling stops.
Robinson’s plot scope shows very clearly that just exploring Mars would be insanely expensive. Mission length and overall distance from Earth impose some serious restrictions.
Actually settling Mars is a decades-long proposition that will require work conducted here on Earth in a calm and unhurried atmosphere, and not amongst street fighting or civil war.
We’re pretty much stuck with the hand we’ve got to play. It’s just one of many reasons why I continue to predict some serious unpleasantries in the near future.

During the presidential campaign of 2016, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton demeaned middle class voters as a “basket of deplorables.” She ultimately expressed “regret” for her comments but this week, on a trip to India, she continued to display remarkable ignorance about the country she wanted to represent.
Mrs. Clinton said that the states that supported her candidacy were “dynamic” and “moving forward,” while those that did not were backwards. The states she won, Mrs. Clinton said, represent two-thirds of the country’s wealth and continued her insults against those in flyover country that opposed her candidacy. She said that middle Americans supported Donald Trump because they were motivated by racism and the women that voted against her did so because their husbands told them to.
Let’s be honest, Mrs. Clinton’s remarks, while insulting to half the country, reflect the mainstream view of most liberals from coast to coast. To liberal voters in Manhattan and Hollywood, Mrs. Clinton has stated exactly what they believe. That’s because the Democratic Party is no longer the party of the middle class. It is the party of the wealthy.

While Kennedy and LBJ were in, after Nixon came in you were grabbed according to your birth date (day of the year). After this started the school exemptions pretty much died. You still had the essential industry (teaching, cops, factory worker, farmer) and being married with 3 or 4 kids meant you were pretty safe. On the other hand the revoked the no two family members in the same war zone rule and did away with the sole surviving son rule.
I served in Germany with the sons of some career officers who volunteered for Nam and stayed there until their son was out of the Army. That was the only special privilege that we didn’t get upset about. One man (using the term loosely) on the radio site has his rich grandfather use his political influence to kill a transfer to Nam. We didn’t like him anyway and this made it worse.

Orban also made another of his attacks on George Soros, the Hungarian-American billionaire and philanthropist. He alleged Soros was seeking to impose his “open society” ideals on Europe and supports critics of the ruling party’s government, and listed Soros among Hungary’s historical foes — the Ottoman Empire, the Habsburgs and the Soviet Union.
The rally marked the 170th anniversary of the 1848 revolution against Habsburg rule. Orban’s speech was preceded by what organizers called a “Peace March.”
Many tens of thousands of Orban supporters took part in the anniversary event nominally organized by a pro-Orban civic group and held with the full support of Orban’s Fidesz party.
Several opposition groups — including a coalition of left-wing parties, the far-right Jobbik party, the satirical Two-Tailed Dog Party and a student movement — held smaller rallies and remembrances in Budapest, the Hungarian capital.

The arrest warrant names the 44-year-old Saudi royal using a French spelling of her name, Hussat ben Salmane, and was issued in late December, a source told AFP.
The alleged victim says he hired to carry out some refurbishment work at the princess’s apartment in September 2016.
He maintains that he took a photograph of the room that he was set to work on and was accused of taking pictures to sell them to the media.
The worker alleges that after Princess Hassa caught him taking photos, she ordered her bodyguard to beat him up.
He says he was punched in the face, his hands were tied and he was then forced to kiss the princess’s feet.
He was able to leave the apartment several hours later, according to his account – without his tools, which he says were confiscated.
The bodyguard was charged on October 1, 2016 with armed violence, theft, issuing death threats and holding someone against their will.
Speaking during a hearing at the time, the bodyguard said he done the ‘minimum necessary’ to ‘restrain’ the workman after the Princess caught him taking pictures.”

“Hemos sido los primeros en atenderle mientras llegaba el SAMUR, pero ha fallecido”, ha precisado un portavoz de la Policía Municipal de Madrid. Además, indicó que el fallecido no llevaba la documentación encima y fue identificado como “mantero” por un compañero suyo.
Alrededor de las 20:00 (hora local), en la zona se ha congregado un grupo de más de 50 personas, en su mayoría inmigrantes y algunos miembros de colectivos antirracismo, que han empezado a quemar contenedores y dañar mobiliario urbano para expresar su protesta a los agentes policiales por “perseguirles”.

Clock Boy’s Lawsuit BOMBS
U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay dismissed the lawsuit Ahmed “Clock Boy” Mohamed brought against the Irving Independent School District Wednesday, after he was wrongfully arrested for bringing a device to school that resembled a bomb.
The device at issue was a homemade clock, not a bomb. As Mohamed is a Muslim and the son of Sudanese immigrants, the incident was widely attributed to ethnic and religious stereotyping, prompting the lawsuit.
Mohamed’s father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, filed the complaint on his son’s behalf in Aug. 2016. The suit alleged that the school district discriminated against Ahmed on the basis of race and religion, in keeping with a long history of bigotry in the Irving schools. It also claimed his Fourth Amendment rights were infringed when authorities questioned him for over an hour and a half without his parents.
In turn, the city of Irving said administrators acted legitimately to ensure school safety, even if they were mistaken.

Clearly, the Propaganda Media simply cannot restrain itself and must maintain the narrative of Ahmed “Clock Boy” Mohamed building a “homemade clock”.
There was nothing “homemade” about this “clock”. It was a vintage Radio Shack bedside digital clock that Clock Boy had disassembled and then remounted into a Vaultz brand carrying case. School administrators had a perfect right to be concerned about such apparatus. Also, Clock Boy ignored the admonishments of one teacher that he should not openly display the device.
Finally, Clock Boy’s father is a known Islamic troublemaker. In this case, he merely used his own son as a stalking horse to further the entire Muslim grievance industry. Sadly, this outcome is so far down the road from the original event that the results will slip down the memory hole with relative ease.

“Maxime Hauchard, a French terrorist sought by French and US authorities since emerging in a Daesh execution video in Syria, has been killed, sources close to the inquiry told AFP on Thursday.
“The date and circumstances of his death aren’t yet known, but it appears he died in the summer of 2017,” one of the sources said.
Hauchard, who grew up in a village in Normandy before converting from Catholicism to Islam, was just 22 when he was seen holding a knife to the neck of US aid worker Peter Kassig in a gruesome video from November 2014.
The video also showed the execution of 18 Syrians identified as military personnel.
France soon issued an international arrest warrant, and the US State Department added Hauchard to its black list of “specially designated global terrorists”.
Investigators later found that Hauchard became radicalised online, joining terrorist forums under the moniker Abu Abdallah Al Faransi (“the Frenchman”).
He twice travelled to Mauritania between October 2012 and May 2013 for studies in Salafism, the highly conservative branch of Islam.
In August 2013 he left for Syria via Turkey, telling his family he wanted to “help the wounded” in the country’s civil war, but in fact he was taken under the wing of IS recruiters.
“To show allegiance, you must first go to a training camp. The first stage lasts around a month. We do some training, we go on operations and after that we return to training. It’s not just theory,” he told a French TV station in July 2014.
A few months later IS released the video showing the execution of Kassig and the Syrian soldiers, in which Hauchard was shown with his face uncovered.
He emerged again in November 2015, a few days after the Paris terror attacks that killed 130 people, warning on Twitter: “Brazil, you’re our next target,” a reference to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The French government says about 1,700 French nationals have left to fight alongside IS in Iraq and Syria since 2014.
More than 300 French Islamists, including 12 women, have been killed during the fight against IS in Iraq and Syria since then, while about 730 adults and 500 children are still there.
