A food bank in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia has temporarily stopped accepting non-German new registrants.
Tafel Deutschland in Essen, one of the charitable association’s more than 930 nationwide food banks, is currently only accepting new customers with a German ID card.*
The food bank made the decision last December and implemented it in January until further notice. On the organization’s website, they state the reason behind the decision was that they “felt compelled to ensure reasonable integration,” adding that they had seen an “increase in the number of migrants in recent years” and the proportion of foreign citizens among their customers had risen dramatically.
“We want German grandmothers to continue coming to us,” head of the association in Essen, Jörg Sartor, told the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ).
Over the past two years, the elderly people and single mothers visiting the food bank have slowly decreased and been replaced by foreigners, according to Sartor. At the time the decision was made, migrants and refugees made up 75 percent of the food bank’s 6,000 users, he says, whereas in 2015, 35 percent of customers were non-Germans.

Schools should prioritise foreign children who grew up in care over British youngsters, a minister has said.
Nick Gibb, the schools minister, has said that he intends change the law so that children from outside of England who have previously been in care are given “highest priority” for places, where a school is oversubscribed.
Under the current School Admissions Code, children are put in the “highest priority” category if they are in care, or have previously been in care, in England.
In a letter sent out to all local authorities and academies, Mr Gibb explained why he intends to update statutory guidance so that youngsters from overseas who have been in care are also given preferential treatment to their peers.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night’s town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a “scripted question,” quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards. (CNN response below.)

Not A Single Lawyer Known To Work For Mueller Is A Republican
None of the 16 publicly-confirmed lawyers on special counsel Robert Mueller’s team are registered Republicans, The Daily Caller News Foundation has found.
Voter registration records indicate that 13 of the attorneys are Democrats and three have no party affiliation. This is the first time the political affiliation of all 16 lawyers has been reported.
One of the lawyers, Zainab Ahmad, appears to have registered as a Republican at the age of 18, but has since changed her registration status to unaffiliated.
There is a 17th lawyer on the Russia probe, but this person’s identity and political affiliation remain unknown.

CARACAS (Reuters) – Venezuelans reported losing on average 11 kilograms (24 lbs) in body weight last year and almost 90 percent now live in poverty, according to a new university study on the impact of a devastating economic crisis and food shortages.

The annual survey, published on Wednesday by three universities, is one of the most closely-followed assessments of Venezuelans’ well being amid a government information vacuum and shows a steady rise in poverty and hunger in recent years.
Over 60 percent of Venezuelans surveyed said that during the previous three months they had woken up hungry because they did not have enough money to buy food. About a quarter of the population was eating two or less meals a day, the study showed.
Last year, the three universities found that Venezuelans said they had lost an average of 8 kilograms during 2016. This time, the study’s dozen investigators surveyed 6,168 Venezuelans between the ages of 20 and 65 across the country of 30 million people.

A funeral service for the three officers of Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NAJA), who died in clashes with members of a Sufi sect, was held in Tehran on Thursday.
According to a police spokesperson, clashes broke out between officers and members of Gonabadi Dervishes, a Sufi sect in Iran.
Earlier that day, there was outbreak of violence between protesters and NAJA officers as they had gathered in front of a police station demanding the release of Nematullah Riahi, a member of the Sufi sect.

North Korean closing Olympics delegation includes man blamed for deadly sinking
SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea will send a high-level delegation to South Korea for the Winter Olympics closing ceremony, officials said on Thursday, including the man blamed for the 2010 sinking of a South Korean navy ship that killed 46 sailors.
The latest visit by officials from the normally reclusive North will coincide with a visit by a U.S. delegation led by President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.
The North Korean delegation will be led by Kim Yong Chol, vice-chairman of the ruling Workers’ Party’s Central Committee, and will stay for three days from Sunday, South Korea’s Ministry of Unification said in a statement.
Kim also heads the United Front Department, the North Korean office responsible for handling inter-Korean affairs.
He was previously chief of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, a top North Korean military intelligence agency, which South Korea blamed for the deadly 2010 sinking of the Cheonan, a South Korean navy corvette.

Iran says may withdraw from nuclear deal if banks continue to stay away
LONDON (Reuters) – Iran will withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal if there is no economic benefit and major banks continue to shun the Islamic Republic, its deputy foreign minister said on Thursday.
Under the deal with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, Iran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in return for the removal of sanctions that have crippled its economy.
Despite that, big banks have continued to stay away for fear of falling foul of remaining U.S. sanctions – something that has hampered Iran’s efforts to rebuild foreign trade and lure investment.
Adding to those concerns, U.S. President Donald Trump told the Europeans on Jan. 12 they must agree to “fix the terrible flaws of the Iran nuclear deal” or he would re-impose the sanctions Washington lifted as part of that pact.
But even if Trump relents and issues fresh “waivers” to continue suspending those sanctions, the existing situation is unacceptable for Iran, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.
“The deal would not survive this way even if the ultimatum is passed and waivers are extended,” Araqchi, Iran’s lead nuclear negotiator, said in a speech at the Chatham House think tank in London.

One can only shudder in horror to think where US negotiations with Iran would be headed right now were Hillary Clinton comfortably ensconced in the Oval Office. Just the thought her near-election still makes my blood run cold.
I am increasingly prone to agree (with the few people I’ve met who insist) that Trump made his ultimate contribution to American history simply by denying Hillary Clinton (further) access to the White House. Although I’m a fairly generous person, I’d like to see Trump’s 2020 reelection permanently snuff all of Hillary’s future presidential aspirations before giving DJT such overwhelming dispensation.
Reconstructing the Iranian nuclear deal will be a one-time opportunity to start dismantling (or interfering with) the malign relationship between North Korea and Iran. These two rogue régimes have the potential to act as flashpoints for WW III and, likewise, their massive human rights abuses cannot be tolerated.

Far too few Americans, Europeans, and other technically advanced societies realize the risk implied by sitting back and awaiting what will come.
Iran and North Korea are just two honed edges of a single spear-point tilted towards the very breast of Western Civilization.
This is not a time of “deflection”. It is a time of not letting the invaders gain access long enough to make necessary any debates about “deflection”. If (and when) Iran and North Korea are allowed to go “active”, everyone around the world had best have some sort of “plan” drawn up.
If India, South Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, The Philippines, and Guam do not have strategic battle plans drawn up, then they may as well grab their ankles, bend over, and kiss their ar$e goodbye.

VICE News -These Pakistanis Are Demanding Justice For Racist Policing
Aspiring model Naqeebullah Mehsud was murdered in January by the Karachi police. His death prompted thousands of Pashtuns, Pakistan’s biggest ethnic minority, to demand justice.
In early February, sit-ins lasted for over a week in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital. Eventually protests spread nationwide and even reached neighboring Afghanistan, where Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group.
Pashtun activism prompted the government to respond to concerns. On February 16th, Pakistan’s Chief Justice ordered the arrest of Rao Anwar – the police superintendent who is believed to be responsible for Mehsud’s murder.
Nearly 30 million Pashtuns live in Pakistan. Since 9-11, many have fled violence in their ethnic homelands near the Afghan border for safety in the cities, as government anti-terror operations prompted violence with the Taliban.
But, many Pashtuns in Pakistan believe their community is systematically victimized by racist policing and profiling.
“We don’t want anyone else to be martyred as Naqeebullah was. We are fed up, We won’t tolerate any more dead bodies,” said Noor Rehman Mehsud, Naqeebullah Mehsud’s cousin.
While the Pashtun protests have wound down — the police superintendent still remains at large, and other demands levied by protestors, including the removal of landmines, accounting for “disappeared” persons by the Pakistani military, and ending security checks and curfews in Pashtun tribal homelands have yet to be addressed.

I’m putting down a marker here. CPAC is coming up, and it’s got conservatives in something of a tizzy, as it did last year.
There are profound things going on, and this won’t be the grand, broad-scale treatment they merit. But what’s going on has to be noted, and a thoughtful debate on it fostered. It’s too big to leave to hindsight. We need to be deciding, as we go along, what we think (and I mean, quite literally, “decide what we think”) – lest we lose our way.
Last year, it was the invitation to Milo Yiannopoulos, which was issued at some cost in conservative unity, and then rescinded. (In the interim, audio surfaced from an interview in which Yiannopoulos appeared to condone pederasty. Conservatives understandably had to come down against any implication of being OK with that.)
This year, it’s a two-fer. So far. There’s no telling how many -fers we may end up with before all is said and done, because that’s just the kind of time we’re living in.

According to Milwaukee CBS affiliate WDJT, 29-year-old Dimas Chavez-Pina fraudulently applied for individual tax ID numbers for citizens from Mexico that he stole from the IRS. He then filed fraudulent tax returns using those tax numbers. The scheme netted him a total of $1,058,827.69 in U.S. Treasury refund checks from 2011 to 2014.

The Forest region of Brussels was sealed off by police on Thursday as part of a major armed operation responding to reports that a gunman could be at large.
A helicopter and armed police units were deployed in the Forest region of Brussels following reports that an armed man is hiding inside one of the buildings.
The events are unfolding near a primary school on Rue Jean-Baptiste Vanpe, in the Forest municipality. Approximately 350 pupils were ordered to stay inside for safety reasons.
Snipers are also present at the scene, according to witnesses, who also claimed that police ordered everyone in neighbouring premises to remain at home. Media cited the local mayor, Marc-Jean Ghyssels as also confirming the police operation.

Marion Maréchal-Le Pen cited Mr Trump’s election victory and the Brexit vote in 2016 as inspiration for France to distance itself from the European Union (EU).
She used an address to the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday to praise the US president’s success in putting conservatism at the top of the political agenda.
And she claimed the French youth is right-leaning and believers in national identity as she issued a call to arms for the populist revolution.
“Let me be clear here. I’m not offended when I hear President Donald Trump say ‘America first’,” Ms Le Pen said.
“In fact, I want America first for the American people, I want Britain first for the British people and I want France first for the French people.”…”
At the rate that France is going, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen, will be that country’s last hope. Whoever among them that managed to influence young Marion’s thinking may well deserve the National Order of the Legion of Honour.
So little stands between continental Europe’s survival and total disaster.
After having traveled through towns in France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, and Slovakia … most with with 300 year-old buildings, the nothingness of this anti-historical movement makes its proponents into meaningless nuisances.
Too bad that so many seem able to ignore this rather difficult fact.
It may take total disaster to save some of the European nations, unfortunately this will include the destruction of way too many historical artifacts and art objects.

Germany: Bundestag debates AfD’s proposed Burqa-Ban in public spaces
The German Bundestag debated a ban on the burqa, a full face veil which is worn by some Muslim women, in Berlin on Thursday.
The proposal was brought forward by the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD). The party’s draft law seeks to ban Islamic full face coverings from public places. According to their draft proposal, the AfD claim that a full face veil ban would “protect the individual freedoms of Muslim women”, while also promoting “domestic security” and securing “social coexistence.”
The draft law came under fire by members of other political parties during the debate. Esther Dilcher of the SPD called the AfD “a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” arguing that they didn’t intend to bring in the law for the stated reasons.
Meanwhile, FDP member Katrin Helling-Plahr voiced her concern that introducing such a ban would isolate women who wear full face coverings from German society all together. “You’re not helping these women. Rather, you’re robbing them of that last morsel of freedom and participation in our society,” she argued, claiming that men who forced them to wear such veils would then prevent them from leaving the house.
During the debate, AfD member Gottfried Cuiro claimed “The full covering is a signal that there isn’t a will to participate in our open society; wishing to differentiate themselves from the ‘unbelievers’.”
While members from the CDU/CSU fraction support a ban of full face veils in public places, they maintain that such a ban needs to adhere to the German constitution.
If the German Bundestag passes a law to forbid full face veils, it will be following its European counterparts in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy and Latvia, all of whom have already enacted partial or full bans on Islamic face coverings.

Mr Walter claimed that the rate of foreign prisoners in the French-speaking part of Switzerland was 80 per cent, compared to the German-speaking part of the country where the number was between 50 and 60 per cent, broadcaster RTS reports.
Most of the prisoners, according to Walter, come from Eastern Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Maghreb.
“Unfortunately a good part of Maghrebians come from the suburbs of France,” Walter said.
Walter also noted problems with inter-ethnic violence and violence against employees in prisons, which he said was only further fueled by a large problem with overcrowding.
Islamic radicalisation was also touched on by Walter, who said that despite the phenomenon not being as prevalent as in other countries, there had been several recent cases.
“Even in the canton of Fribourg, young people, unsecured, fall into this trap, we must really fight against this phenomenon,” he said.
Radicalisation has been a major concern in prisons across western Europe. In neighbouring France, for example, two inmates were caught plotting a terror attack in October 2017, and were found to have smuggled mobile phones into the prison which they used to contact members of the Islamic State terror organisation.
In France, Muslims are said to make up as much as 60 per cent of the total prison population.
In Austria, radical Islamic extremist literature was found in the library of the Korneuburg prison leading to the government sacking the Islamic organisation which had been tasked with providing literature to the prison system.
Months later the head Imam for Austria’s prison system, Ramazan Demir, spoke out about the situation, saying that Austrian prisons were becoming “breeding grounds” for radicalisation.”

On August 16, 2017, the United States Department of State designated Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), the organization that owned the Pakistani compound where US Navy Seals shot and killed Osama bin Laden, a terrorist organization. Imagine the embarrassment and potential danger, then, when less than one month following the designation, soldiers from the US Army National Guard – dressed in full military gear – were served food by members of an American group related to HM, outside a radical mosque. It was a serious mistake that could only result in legitimization of terror and bigotry, and it should never happen again.
On September 5, 2017, the Islamic Society of Triplex (IST), a mosque located in Beaumont, Texas, less than an hour and a half’s drive from Houston, handed out dinners to members of the US Army National Guard. The troops were in the area dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, which had hit Southeast Texas very hard. To many, this might seem like a generous gift provided to our nation’s finest, who were hard at work assisting those devastated by the storm. However, when one considers who this mosque is affiliated with, they will find that this was no gift at all.
IST is an affiliate of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an organization that was co-founded by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Sami al-Arian and was named a co-conspirator by the US Justice Department, in 2007 and 2008, for two federal trials dealing with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. In December 2015, IST made the news, when it forced its imam, Nidal Alsayyed, to resign, after he had publicly endorsed President Donald Trump’s travel ban from a number of Muslim majority countries.

One of the greatest but overlooked (or ignored) fact concerning Islamic aggression and violence around the world is that non-Muslim women tend to be its greatest victims. According to a January report dealing with the Muslim persecution of Christians, “The most significant findings were that Christian women are among the most violated in the world, in maybe a way that we haven’t seen before.” Six women were raped every day simply for being Christian, the report found.
Much of this traces back to Islamic law. Inherently harsh—its ultimate source is a seventh century Arab man, Muhammad—Sharia is still harsher for women. Men have “authority” over women and may beat them for disobedience. The prophet said women are significantly less intelligent than men — two women are needed to equal one man’s testimony — and the majority of hell’s denizens consist of women, whom Muhammad further likened to donkeys and dogs in their ability to distract a man from his prayer and thereby annul it.
Such misogyny is confirmed by the headline of a new report: “UK Govt Review into Sharia Admits Systemic Discrimination Against Women …Forced Marriage Victim Made to Appear with Abusers.”

He is looking at this through a Christian lens. Some of those rules are in the rejected adherences of the Hebrew Bible (e.g., a woman’s voice will distract a man in prayer; woman may not testify). Nevertheless, as it is currently practiced (thank god), these “harsh” laws aren’t leading to such a level of abuse in the Orthodox Jewish world. Why put all the blame on the Muslim sharia?
Because they are the ones who are practicing them now, the ones to oppose are the ones who are doing evil now, not the ones who did evil hundreds or thousands of years ago.

When will Black History Month be … history?
Apart from the bizarre notion that educators should set aside one month to salute the historical achievements of one race apart from and above the historical achievements of other races, Black History Month appears to omit a lot of black history.
About slavery, do our mostly left-wing educators teach that slavery was not unique to America and is as old as humankind? As economist and author Thomas Sowell says: “More whites were brought as slaves to North Africa than blacks brought as slaves to the United States or to the 13 colonies from which it was formed. White slaves were still being bought and sold in the Ottoman Empire, decades after blacks were freed in the United States.”
Are students taught that “race-based preferences,” sometimes called “affirmative action,” were opposed by several civil rights leaders? While National Urban League Executive Director Whitney Young supported a type of “Marshall Plan” for a period of 10 years to make up for historical discrimination, his board of directors refused to endorse the plan. In rejecting it, the president of the Urban League in Pittsburgh said the public would ask, “What in blazes are these guys up to? They tell us for years that we must buy (nondiscrimination) and then they say, ‘It isn’t what we want.’” A member of the Urban League in New York objected to what he called “the heart of it — the business of employing Negroes (because they are Negroes).” Bayard Rustin was one of Martin Luther King Jr.’s key lieutenants and helped to plan and organize the civil rights march in D.C. that culminated in King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Rustin, an openly gay black man, also opposed race-based preferences.

The gun prohibitionists have found a new way to ‘slice the onion’. Age restrictions on gun purchases.
It’s a gimmick that sounds like it makes sense. We have age restrictions on all sorts of products. Why not guns? Aren’t they deadlier than beers? Didn’t we just have a lethal school shooting by a 19-year-old?
Except that one is a civil right and the other isn’t.
Also most mass shootings aren’t carried out by teenagers. Most school shootings are. But that’s because the people most likely to target schools are current or former students who are probably under 21. If you raised the age restriction to 30, you could cover a lot of mass shooters, including Omar Mateen, the Muslim terrorist who shot 49 people at the Pulse nightclub, but not Stephen Paddock in Vegas.
Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech immigrant shooter, who racked up one the worst campus killing sprees with 32 murders, was 23. He wouldn’t have been covered by conventional age restrictions.
Elliot Rodger, who killed 6 people in the University of California, Santa Barbara shootings, was 22.
