1. Defying Trump again, Jerry Brown pardons immigrants about to be deported (for criminal activity)
(Why would a governor intercede on behalf of people who had committed criminal acts against their own citizens to keep them in the community?
[…] Brown, pairing his state’s combative approach to federal immigration authorities with his belief in the power of redemption, characterized the pardons as acts of mercy.
The Democratic governor moved as federal officials in recent months have detained and deported immigrants with felony convictions that resulted in the loss of their legal residency status, including many with nonviolent offenses that occurred years ago.
With the pardons, the reason for applicants’ deportations may be eliminated, said attorney Kevin Lo of Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus, which represented some of the men in a recent class-action lawsuit.
2. An interesting word. (Not to mention a great name for a dog)
(Worth knowing and storing for future use.)
3. NK Threatens U.S. With ‘Cannons’ Amid Pres. Trump’s Nat’l Security Strategy
North Korea threatens the U.S. with quote overwhelming force after President Trump puts forward his national security strategy.
A spokesperson for the country’s foreign ministry claims the Trump administration has the intent to use military action against the rogue state.
The official says the U.S. will regret its strategy because Pyongyang will retaliate with its cannons.
Friday on FNC’s “America’s Newsroom,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said a congressional committee had evidence FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe indicated Hillary Clinton was going to get an “HQ special” regarding the investigation of her unauthorized email server and ties to the Clinton Foundation during her tenure as secretary of state.
Gaetz, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, described the circumstances at the FBI regarding the investigation as “extreme pro-Hillary Clinton bias.”
“The Judiciary Committee is engaged in an investigation, particularly as it relates to the handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal and any potential investigations of the Clinton Foundation and the handling of bribes or other types of improper payments,” Gaetz said.
5. Q: What does a pop song and Abu Hamza no longer have in common?
Convicted hate preacher Abu Hamza has been pictured looking shrunken and aged without his infamous hooks after two years in solitary confinement in a US prison.
Hamza recently launched an appeal to be returned to a UK prison, claiming the conditions within his US high security prison breached his human rights.
The former imam, who preached at Finsbury Park mosque in North London, was convicted of 11 charges of terrorism and kidnapping in October 2015 and sentenced to life imprisonment in the US.
Since he was convicted in October 2015 he has been kept in solitary confinement without the possibility of parole.
Despite being only 59, newly released pictures show his hair and beard to be now completely white and his once well-built frame now a shadow of its former self.
A: Hamza no longer has a hook.

Thank you Xanthippa, Wrath of Khan, M., Oz-Rita, NorseRadish, Gates of Vienna, Richard, EB. Malca, and a long list of wonderful people who’s names have not yet stuck in my damaged mental rolodex.
There is something funky going on with the sidebar. No worries. One way or another we shall restore all the stuff that was there. I hope. But it may mean a restore from a backup and loss of a post or two and a comment or 20 but we shall if we can restore it without doing that.
Dear readers. An appeal to please read the comments in the daily Reader’s Links post.
For those of you that can remember what STRATFOR was like before Obama, when it was a staggeringly good news source that simply showed you what was going on in the world, what to expect and what to do about it, the comments our readers provide create a collage a lot like STRATFOR used to be. There is some fantastic materials there, updating us all on Korea, the Rohingya, and who they really are and what they really do and more.
And who knows. If President Trump manages to truly erase the CVE and bring the US back to its promise of 1st amendment freedoms then perhaps STRATFOR will be worth subscribing to again. But for the moment, there is the Daily Reader’s Links and hey! its free!

3 – I am wondering how North Korea is going to punish the US with cannon? We don’t have people or property close enough to the DMZ for their cannon to reach us.
Information keeps coming out about what the Dems did during the Obama years, it is going to take time but it is looking like we may get some of the Sewer Rats and the Obots along with the Clintonoids to pay for their crimes.
1.2 Million docs being released on Jan 15 by the IG Horowitz.
Trump is signing executive orders that target corruption.
A great New Year 2018 coming up. Fun for everyone.
From: “5. Q: What does a pop song and Abu Hamza no longer have in common?
Hamza has claimed the conditions breach of [sic] his human rights under Article 3 of the European Convention, which protects people from “inhuman and degrading treatment”.
Let’s please do an abrupt rewind and quickly consider what sort of treatment detainees would be subjected to in a world ruled by Abu Hamza. Does anyone honestly think that even the most minor kuffar transgressors would be given anywhere near the same degree of accommodation or consideration that this piratical, hook-meister has received?
Please recall back when US military forces relinquished control of the Abu Ghraib prison complex back to Iraqi government agencies.
With peculiar rapidity, the vast majority of detainees contained therein—whose previous full-time vocation had consisted of endless squalling about their harsh treatment at cruel and brutal American military hands—suddenly became dedicated to plaintive, dolorous pleas to halt any transfer of their custody into Iraqi control.
Court documents submitted under his real name, Mostafa Kamel Mostafa, detail how his “cell-sized cage” is unsuitable for a double-amputee and that “the stumps in both arms are subject to regular outbreaks of infection, which have been increasing in severity.”
All the same, no one seems interested in detailing exactly how Craptain Hook lost his grip on this world. As in,
mishandling explosives.Sidebar funkiness?
